El 30 de abril de 1945, cuando la Segunda Guerra Mundial apuraba sus últimos momentos, Adolf Hitler tomó una decisión que marcaría el final de su vida y de su régimen. En el búnker de la Cancillería del Reich en Berlín, rodeado por las fuerzas soviéticas que avanzaban de forma imparable, el Führer se enfrentó por primera vez a una derrota segura. El búnker, situado bajo el jardín de la Cancillería, había sido construido en dos fases entre 1936 y 1944 para proteger a Hitler y a sus más cercanos colaboradores de los bombardeos aéreos aliados. A mediados de abril de 1945 el ejército rojo desató la ofensiva final contra Berlín. Para entonces Hitler llevaba ya unos meses durmiendo en el búnker, que estaba compuesto de dos zonas: el búnker propiamente dicho y el antebúnker. El primero se encontraba a ocho metros bajo el nivel del jardín y contaba con un formidable blindaje de hormigón: el techo tenía tres metros de espesor, los muros perimetrales cuatro metros. Con la capital bajo asedio y los soviéticos avanzando por sus calles el ambiente en el interior del búnker era de angustia y desesperación. Hitler, que siempre había proyectado una imagen de invulnerabilidad, se sumió en la depresión y cargó las culpas de la derrota sobre los alemanes, a quienes acusaba de no haber sido capaces de ganar la guerra. Los últimos días de Hitler fueron un torbellino de actividad subterránea y decisiones a la desesperada. Se negó a abandonar Berlín, creyendo aún en una improbable reversión del curso de la guerra. Las noticias de derrotas, repliegues y deserciones llegaban sin cesar. Su estado mental se deterioró, sufría de insomnio, temblores y ataques de ira. En estos días, Hitler celebró su último cumpleaños el 20 de abril de 1945, en una atmósfera muy tensa con todos sabiendo que el final se acercaba. El 29 de abril, Hitler se casó con su compañera Eva Braun en una ceremonia breve y surrealista en medio del caos. Al día siguiente, el 30 de abril, dictó su testamento político y personal, en el que acusaba a los judíos de haber provocado la guerra y designaba a Karl Dönitz como su sucesor. Luego Hitler y Eva Braun se retiraron a sus aposentos privados. En torno a las 15:30 horas, ambos tomaron veneno -cianuro de potasio- para evitar ser capturados con vida. Hitler también se descerrajó un tiro en la cabeza para asegurar su muerte. Antes había ordenado que quemasen sus cadáveres para evitar que sus restos fueran profanados. Al día siguiente se suicidó junto a su esposa Magda y sus seis hijos de corta edad el ministro de propaganda Joseph Goebbels. El personal del búnker intentó mantener el secreto de la muerte de Hitler, pero pronto la noticia se propagó por todo Berlín. La ciudad capituló el 2 de mayo. La rendición incondicional de Alemania se formalizó el día 7, marcando el final de la guerra en Europa. Los restos de Hitler y Braun fueron descubiertos por los soviéticos. El búnker sería dinamitado posteriormente y sus ruinas quedaron durante décadas en la franja de la muerte del muro de Berlín. Tras la reunificación se construyeron edificios residenciales. Hoy todo lo que queda es un cártel que informa a los turistas de la ubicación del búnker, ese lugar húmedo, tétrico y subterráneo en el que el III Reich y su líder se desaparecieron de la historia. Het is 15 augustus 1971, nabij San Francisco, California, worden twaalf jonge mannen in de boeien geslagen en door de politie van Stanford afgevoerd naar Stanford County Jail. Nadat ze zijn ontluisd, krijgen ze gevangeniskleding met daarop een nummer, hun nieuwe naam. Twaalf andere jonge mannen, allemaal in een kakikleurig uniform met zonnebril en wapenstok bewaken de gevangenen. Gedurende twee weken zal het gedrag van deze 24 mannen in het kader van de wetenschap in de gaten worden gehouden. Althans, dat was de bedoeling. "La Chute" (Der Untergang), dʹOliver Hirschbiegel est un film étrange, difficile, qui, avant même sa sortie sur grand écran, va provoquer pas mal de remous. Pourquoi? Parce que "La Chute" retrace, en 10 jours, le suicide dʹHitler, la débâcle du Troisième Reich et la bataille de Berlin en avril 1945. Mais même si ce nʹest pas la première fois quʹHitler est le personnage central évoqué ou montré dans un film, "La Chute" est un film allemand, tourné en allemand, alors quʹauparavant les productions sur le régime nazi était tournée en anglais par des équipes internationales. Autre point de friction: Hitler est représenté comme un homme fatigué, hargneux, agressif, poussé au suicide. Le problème ici, cʹest lʹhomme. Un monstre ne peut être humanisé, la polémique est assurée. Dʹautant que son suicide nʹest pas montré frontalement et que la solution finale est juste évoquée. Mais la grande crédibilité du scénario et la reconstitution historique donnent au film une force particulière. Bruno Ganz, comédien suisse, campe un Hitler particulièrement convaincant. "La Chute" remporte d'ailleurs une mutlitude de prix en Allemagne, dont le prix du meilleur acteur pour Bruno Ganz. Ne tardons plus. Laissons Hitler dans son bunker berlinois au bord du gouffre choisir la voie du suicide plutôt que celle de son peuple. Hitler qui aurait dit " Si la guerre est perdue, peu mʹimporte que le peuple périsse. Ne comptez pas sur moi pour verser une seule larme, il ne mérite pas mieux."

As the Red Army closes in on Berlin in late April 1945, Hitler (Bruno Ganz) and those closest to him retreat to the Führerbunker, an elaborate air raid shelter next to the Reich Chancellery. Sitting in his Map Room, Hitler fantasises about a Third Reich victory and continues to make futile plans for his depleted forces. He berates his generals for cowardice and betrayal and ignores all advice that he should leave Berlin, preferring instead to die if the war is lost. As the realisation dawns that defeat is imminent, Hitler—still refusing to see fault in himself, but ony in those around him—swiftly marries his long-term partner Eva Braun (Juliane Köhler), and the two prepare a suicide pact. Prof.Dr. Jalid Sehouli, der Direktor der #Frauenklinik an der #charité – Campus Virchow, startete im Mai 2021 mit „WeissBunt“ seinen eigenen Podcast. Er ist renommierter Krebsspezialist, #frauenarzt , Wissenschaftler, Schriftsteller und Weltbürger und engagiert sich seit Jahren für die zivile Gesellschaft für ein ganzheitliches und soziales Miteinander. Zu Gast ist Miachel Mendl: Michael Mendl spielte in unzähligen deutschen TV- und Kinoproduktionen mit, aber auch in Hollywood war er schon zu sehen – 2008 in "Der Vorleser" neben Superstar Kate Winslet. Der Charakterdarsteller kam am 20. April 1944 in Lünen in Nordrhein-Westfalen als Michael Sandrock zur Welt. Gleich zu Beginn war sein Leben turbulent, denn er wurde als außerehelicher Sohn eines katholischen Priesters und der Studentin Martha Sandrock geboren. 1949 heiratete seine Mutter Ernst Mendl. Der Österreicher adoptierte den kleinen Michael. Mendl lebte im Ruhrgebiet bei Köln, in Krefeld und in Ludwigshafen am Rhein. 1965 absolvierte er in Mannheim das Abitur. Zuvor hatte er bereits zum ersten Mal auf einer Theaterbühne gestanden – als Statist am lokalen Nationaltheater. Dann verschlug es ihn nach Wien, wo er Theaterwissenschaften und Kunstgeschichte studierte, langfristig allerdings ein Schauspielstudium anstrebte. In Essen legte Mendl 1969 die Bühnenreifeprüfung an der Folkwang-Hochschule ab. In den Folgejahren ergatterte der heranreifende Star Engagements an den Staatstheatern in Darmstadt und Stuttgart sowie am Bayerischen Staatsschauspiel in München. In den 80er Jahren war der Künstler unter anderem in "Wer hat Angst vor Virginia Woolf?", "Woyzeck", "Geschlossene Gesellschaft" und "Maria Stuart" zu sehen. 1993 spielte Mendl bei den Salzburger Festspielen die Rolle des Messala in Peter Steins Inszenierung von "Julius Caesar". In den beiden Folgejahren stand der Schauspieler ebenfalls in der österreichischen Stadt auf der Bühne. Seine TV- und Filmkarriere begann in den 80er Jahren eher schleppend, größere Bekanntheit erlangte der Nordrhein-Westfale 1989 mit dem "Tatort"-Krimi "Die Neue". Den großen Durchbruch verschaffte ihm jedoch ein Film von Sönke Wortmann – "Kleine Haie" (1991). Fortan wurde Mendl hauptsächlich in Charakterrollen besetzt, beispielsweise in dem Oscar-nominierten Drama "Der Untergang" (2004) von Oliver Hirschbiegel, in dem er den General Helmuth Weidling verkörperte. Außerdem spielte Mendl in dem Zweiteiler "Die Gustloff" (2008), in "So weit die Füße tragen" (2001) und in "Im Schatten der Macht" (2004) mit. In Letzterem mimte er den ehemaligen Bundeskanzler Willy Brandt und wurde dafür mit der "Goldenen Kamera" ausgezeichnet. Seit 2017 ist der gefragte Darsteller in der Rolle des Bernd Doppler in "Dark" zu sehen, der ersten deutschsprachigen Netflix-Serie. Nachdem die zweite Staffel 2019 veröffentlicht wurde, endet das Projekt 2020 nach dem Ende von Staffel drei. Neben seiner Arbeit als Darsteller wirkte Michael Mendl auch an zahlreichen Hörspielen als Sprecher mit, unter anderem "Krabat", "Doktor Faustus" und "Es wird Dich rufen". Außerdem lieh er seine Stimme Kollegen wie Rob Reiner, Stellan Skarsgård und Timothy Dalton. 2013 feierte der Deutsche in Wien sein Comeback auf der Theaterbühne – im Stück "Vor dem Ruhestand" von Thomas Bernhard. Außerdem engagiert er sich als Mentor für das Projekt LILALU (seit 2000), für Faszination Regenwald e. V. (seit 2003), als Schirmherr des Vereins Gegen Noma e. V. (seit 2008) und als Botschafter der SOS-Kinderdörfer. "La Chute" (Der Untergang), dʹOliver Hirschbiegel est un film étrange, difficile, qui, avant même sa sortie sur grand écran, va provoquer pas mal de remous. Pourquoi? Parce que "La Chute" retrace, en 10 jours, le suicide dʹHitler, la débâcle du Troisième Reich et la bataille de Berlin en avril 1945. Mais même si ce nʹest pas la première fois quʹHitler est le personnage central évoqué ou montré dans un film, "La Chute" est un film allemand, tourné en allemand, alors quʹauparavant les productions sur le régime nazi était tournée en anglais par des équipes internationales. Autre point de friction: Hitler est représenté comme un homme fatigué, hargneux, agressif, poussé au suicide. Le problème ici, cʹest lʹhomme. Un monstre ne peut être humanisé, la polémique est assurée. Dʹautant que son suicide nʹest pas montré frontalement et que la solution finale est juste évoquée. Mais la grande crédibilité du scénario et la reconstitution historique donnent au film une force particulière. Bruno Ganz, comédien suisse, campe un Hitler particulièrement convaincant. "La Chute" remporte d'ailleurs une mutlitude de prix en Allemagne, dont le prix du meilleur acteur pour Bruno Ganz. Ne tardons plus. Laissons Hitler dans son bunker berlinois au bord du gouffre choisir la voie du suicide plutôt que celle de son peuple. Hitler qui aurait dit " Si la guerre est perdue, peu mʹimporte que le peuple périsse. Ne comptez pas sur moi pour verser une seule larme, il ne mérite pas mieux."

Una pazzesca storia vera, per un esperimento ancora più pazzesco. Un gruppo di volontari impegnati a simulare guardie e carcerati all'interno di un finto carcere. All'inizio, tutto parrà un gioco divertente, ma pian piano, l'immedesimazione nei ruoli prenderà il sopravvento e l'escalation alla violenza mentale e fisica sarà pressoché incontrollabile. Bellissimo film tedesco, magistralmente interpretato. State alla larga dal remake statunitense, che è una stronzata paurosa!

Irgendwann habe ich dann aber festgestellt, dass der 21. Dezember 1967 gar kein Sonntag gewesen ist, sondern ein Donnerstag. Als ich meine Mutter daraufhin fragte, ob nur der Wochentag nicht stimmte oder die ganze Geschichte falsch sei, sagte sie mir: „Nein, die Geschichte ist völlig richtig. Aber es war nicht deine Geburt, sondern die deines Bruders, drei Jahre zuvor. Deine Geburt war furchtbar. Ewig lang, sehr schmerzhaft und wahnsinnig anstrengend. Und eigentlich hätte ich auch lieber noch ein Mädchen gehabt.“ Aha. Naja, gut. Nun, so fing’s also an. In den Jahren nach diesem Donnerstag im Dezember 1967 habe ich insgesamt etwa 5.000 amerikanische Action-Filme geschaut. Das daraus gewonnene „Fachwissen“ kommt mir bei meinen Arbeiten sehr zu Gute. Ob vor der Kamera, beim Schreiben von Drehbüchern oder auf der Bühne. Schon in meinem ersten selbst geschriebenen Bühnenprogramm (1992: „Die Schneesucher - Lethal Weather“, zusammen mit Kristian Bader) spielte ich einen coolen Killer-Androiden, der erst einmal schießt, bevor er lange umständliche Fragen stellt, und der immer den passenden coolen Spruch zur Hand hat. Im sekundenschnellen Wechsel spielte ich aber auch schon damals abstruse Figuren wie Angela Merkel, Ignacio Lopez, Klaus Kinski und Gott. Dieses Weltrettungsprogramm des Bader-Ehnert-Kommandos wurde schließlich so erfolgreich, dass aus dem ursprünglich als Einzelwerk angelegten Stück die, so heißt es, in Kabarettkreisen mittlerweile legendäre Lethal-Weather-Trilogie wurde, für die das BEK 1997 den Deutschen Kleinkunstpreis erhielt. Mit Horst, dem Schlachter, einer weiteren Figur aus dem Bader-Ehnert-Panoptikum, ging ich 2002 erstmals allein auf Tournee und erhielt auf Anhieb das Düsseldorfer „Sprungbrett“. Einen Preis, den es heute nicht mehr gibt. Nach der Auflösung des BEK widmete ich mich erst einmal diversen Regie-Arbeiten für das Kom(m)ödchen in Düsseldorf (2003: „6. Tag, 2. Versuch“) und der Lach- und Schießgesellschaft in München (2004: „Jenseits von Oz“, 2005: „Abgehängt“, 2007: „Last Minute“). Diese Programme, in denen Affen mit Bohrmaschinen gefoltert, Katzen mit Geflügelscheren zerschnitten und drollige Mädchen von liebevollen Pädagogen misshandelt werden, irritierten das Publikum der beiden Traditionshäuser in nicht geringem Maße. Mit meiner Solo-Trilogie („Mein Leben“ / „HeldenWinter“ / „Das Tier in mir“) verabschiedete ich mich dann endgültig von dem, was man üblicherweise als Kabarett bezeichnet. Meine Soloprogramme waren eine Mischung aus Kabarett, Comedy, Theater und Film. Sie waren autobiographische Lebensbeichte, Fiebertraum und nicht zuletzt eher Schauspiel als Comedy. Eigentlich ging es immer um Helden, die auf die Fresse fallen, „Ritter auf verlorenem Posten“, um Gescheiterte, die keine Chance haben, die Welt zu retten, aber es trotzdem machen. Seit vielen Jahren bin ich jetzt mit einer in jeder Hinsicht phantastischen, überaus attraktiven, hochintelligenten und sau-komischen Frau verheiratet und habe zwei Söhne, deren Namen keinen Zweifel daran aufkommen lassen sollen, dass sie später einmal Revolverhelden werden: Johnny Vincent und Billy László. Wenn ich mich gerade einmal nicht meiner Familie widme oder versuche, mit meinen vielseitigen künstlerischen Aktivitäten die Welt zu retten, lese ich Bücher von Cormac McCarthy oder schaue meine Lieblingsfilme auf DVD: Lethal Weapon, Die Hard, Blade Runner, Kinder des Olymp, Ist das Leben nicht schön?, Taxi-Driver, Magnolia, Sissi 1, Sissi 2 und Sissi 3. Fürs Fernsehen arbeitete ich bisher mit Oliver Hirschbiegel (in „Elser“), mit Christian Alvart (im „Tatort“), mit Claudia Garde (in „Bankraub für Anfänger“), mit Oren Schmuckler (in den ZDF-Reihen „Stubbe“ und in „Notruf Hafenkante“) mit Tobi Baumann (in der RTL-Serie „Kinder, Kinder“), mit Kai Wessel (im ARD-Spielfilm „Juls Freundin“), mit Torsten Wacker (in der Pro7-Comedy „Axel will’s wissen“), mit Michael Rowitz (in dem PRO7-Thriller „Ein Mann wie eine Waffe“ und dem SAT1-Thriller „Der Tod in deinen Augen“), mit Sigi Rothemund (im Pro7-Thriller „Das Finale“), mit Thorsten Näter (im ARD-Film „Gegen den Strom“ und im ARD-Zweiteiler „Napoleon Fritz“). Außerdem bin ich im „Großstadtrevier“, in der „Soko Köln“, in „Morden im Norden“, „Ritas Welt“, „Die Cleveren“, „SK Kölsch“, „Ein Fall für Zwei“, „Doppelter Einsatz“, „Wolffs Revier“, den „Rettungsfliegern“ und in vielen anderen hier aus gutem Grund nicht genannten Fernsehproduktionen zu sehen gewesen… Anfang der 90er Jahre spielte ich am Münchener Residenztheater und am Schauspielhaus in Dortmund, wurde für meine Bühnenarbeit 1997 mit dem Deutschen Kleinkunstpreis, 2005 mit dem Deutschen Kabarettpreis und sogar zweimal (1995 und 2005) mit dem Prix Pantheon ausgezeichnet. German director Oliver Hirschbiegel talks to fellow director Dearbhla Walsh about his vision behind his film

Over the past decade, Ruairi O'Brien has worked as director or cinematographer on several short films, including Monitor, Hum, and his own films Hoor and Teeth. Teeth garnered awards in Galway, Ireland, and Brest, France.  Ruairi has worked as DP on UK television series including Murphy’s Law and Father & Son.  He has also shot a number of music videos for bands such as Placebo and We Are Scientists. One of Ruairi's more recent works of note as cinematographer is the gripping drama Five Minutes of Heaven, directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel of Downfall fame, and starring Liam Neeson and James Nesbitt.
