Oh brother, I have to address this BS again, last year I did a podcast, & a mocked podcast show on Who or What Defines The Modern Black Woman? There's a hatred, resentment, & jealousy factor of women like me. Two key factors describe the modern woman is that she is smart & self-reliant. There's an agenda to replace this kind of woman because most men today are not men & can't man-up.
*Magdalena joins the conversation at the 16 minute mark.*Magdalena is a storyteller through the mediums of photography, filmmaking and storytelling. Anthony O'Neal is embarking on a unique social experiment as the host of “Ladies, hear him out!” a live panel-style event where men will get the mic and the floor. And the ladies? Well, they'll be in the audience, sipping and sighing, preparing their responses which can only be given after the last panelist has said his piece. Sounds fun, right? Many men have found themselves in a no-win situation: they're either too vulnerable or too closed off. Is there a happy medium? Checkout My Network Partners:

Hello, Brave Table fam, and welcome back. This week I'm riding solo to talk about something so many of you have asked me about: friendships. How to build them, nurture them, and, when it's time, how to let them go to pursue ones that are aligned with your next evolution. What you'll get out of this episode…. - How to a create community aligned with your goals and shared experiences - Why it's so important to prioritize friendships and sisterhood, even when life gets busy - Evolving your friendships to reflect the season you're in - The value of finding friends who you can learn from and transform together - Discovering what lights you up and gets you curious so you can find others who share your passions - Moving from friendships focused on status & the superficial to something deeper - If you want to go deep and your friends don't, why you need to upgrade your tribe, and how to do it - How to do a ‘friend inventory': determining what you need out of your friendships and what you have to offer - Ways to put yourself out there to meet new people and find your tribe - Accepting when friendships end and letting go with grace When you're a bosswoman or a bossmama, or just focused on your children or career, sometimes friendships take a back seat. And, if you're the introvert in the room, I can totally see how friendships get pushed to the side so you can cozy up on the couch and read books instead. But they are our LIFE FORCE. They are what keep us going! And the further we get on this journey of life, the harder it can become to meet—and keep—strong friendships with people who are as committed to growth, self-development, and emotional wellbeing as you are. When I was still running my dentistry practice, many of my friendships were pretty surface level. They usually revolved around the latest gossip, and mutual victimized complaining (yanno, the kind: “You had that happen to you? Well, I had it way worse!) Yep, and I know I'm not alone. As women, we love to sulk and share how bad our lives are to find shared connections and belong! It wasn't until I sold my business and started on my research journey around the globe, meeting friends from different walks of life—from different retreats/events/places—and landing in places like Kuala Lumpur & Bali that I found my friendships 100% radically shifted. Finally, I was meeting humans with the same life missions, depth, and spiritual journeys in an incredible community of expats and change-makers who matched the path I was on. Through this shared experience, I noticed how much deeper I was able to connect with others than I had been in the past—and how much more quickly, too. But it required putting myself out there, seeking experiences where I knew I would find like-minded and like-hearted individuals, and accepting that it was time to evolve out of some old friendships that were no longer serving me. And now, as a mama, what I need out of friendships has changed again. So lately, I've been doing what I called a friend inventory, and as you listen, I invite you to do the same. What do you need out of a friendship right now? What aspects of your friendships are no longer serving you? How can you create shared experiences with others, and how will you put yourself out there to have those experiences? Our friendships need to grow with us, not hold us back. If you find yourself in a new season with how you relate to your friends, this episode will guide you through how to nurture the relationships you value or recognize that you need to upgrade your tribe. Has a Hun or a Boss Babe ever slipped in your DMs promising a fantastic business opportunity? Are these women really living the She E O dream or have they Girl Bossed too close to the sun? MLM's or Multi-Level Marketing companies saw a spike in membership during the height of the pandemic when women were forced out of the job market. These companies are notoriously predatory and can slip by legal regulations leaving people high and dry, or more accurately in a warehouse full of moldy leggings. Dionna Widder Chief Revenue Officer of the Houston Dynamo Her love for sports started at an early age with a strong sense of belonging; her 14th birthday sitting court-side at a Detroit Pistons game, so inspired, it wasn't the players on the court, but the people in suits she saw and said “I'm going to do exactly that” Working in the sports industry may be “sexy” but it's also nonstop and ultimately, it's a lifestyle that you need to embrace and fall in love with. Something that she has done, loving coming into work each day and making a difference. From the NBA, NFL, to the MLS the skills are transferable. Dionna learned how a business like the NBA runs and knew it could be applied across organizations, she also learned that she loves to lead and execute. Having a work life balance isn't something Dionna believes in. In fact she wonders why it only ever seems to apply to women. She feels that life isn't about balance, but instead about commitment. Committing to being a better person, a better business person, a better mother, striving for greatness every day. What does it mean to be leader – the most important lesson to be learned, it starts with authentic people not those who are here just for the title.

Becca Stevens with Thistle Farms In Episode #83, I had the honor of sitting down with Becca Stevens, a speaker, leader, priest, entrepreneur, and the president of Thistle Farms, a multifaceted, international nonprofit. She founded the organization more than 20 years ago to provide a sanctuary and healing for women survivors of prostitution, trafficking, and addiction not historically served. She leads important conversations across the country by speaking, writing, and heading a national network of like-minded organizations. She has founded 8 justice organizations and helped raise more than $50M dollars. The New York Times, PBS, ABC World News, NPR, CNN and the White House have all highlighted Becca and her work. She is the author of 10 books and lives in Nashville with her husband, Grammy-winning songwriter Marcus Hummon, and their three sons. Becca shared with us that this is the most important time for community, and serving others through small steps that can make a large impact. One way she and Thistle Farms are staying connected to one another while serving their community is by participating in a weekly Zoom call where they each light a candle and recite “We light this candle for the woman that is still on the street and the woman that is trying to find her way home.” Becca had a strong desire to work with women on the streets all her life and sought out to create justice work in a non-competitive, lavish way. Through such, she was able to create a global movement for women's freedom that serves women who are survivors of trafficking, prostitution, and addiction. The movement has grown to a national network of 50 affiliated partners and 30 global partners which allows affiliates to take ownership in the movement and collaborate through shared trade fashion.Becca reminds us that “We are stronger and bigger than a virus, we are going to get through this, and on the other side we're going to say that we never gave up.”3 things Becca hopes we can look back and say at the end: 1. We feel good about what we went through.2. We became stronger, deeper, and more spiritual through the process. 3. We were faithful throughout it all. Becca reminds us to seek out gratitude every day in the midst of this circumstance. She encourages us through this daily quote “My glass isn't half full. My glass is just too big. Get small again. Take those few precious drops that you've been given today and let it fill your cup.” My blessing for the day was being able to finally meet Becca Stevens, and I hope to learn more from her in the future. Forget being politically correct—she’s here, she’s pissed off, and she calls herself Bugsy. Spitting bars and belting hooks on stilettos in the name of females everywhere, Bugsy’s music has the unique effect of making people dance and simultaneously burn the patriarchy to the ground. From the fun-loving bounce of her debut single “Fuckboy” to the foot-stomping politically charged “Boss Woman” (coming out in March), Bugsy combines silky R&B vocals with raunchy rap to give feminism the foul-mouthed voice it deserves. Complete with backup dancers, room-shaking 808’s and a packed audience each time, her shows are more of a rally than a musical experience. Beyond the shadow of a doubt, future is female, and—middle fingers in the air—Bugsy is at the front of the pack, leading the charge. With finals week around the corner and the seasons on the verge of changing, life can seem quite stressful. Stress is not a bad thing, it's not a something we should let weigh us down in our daily activity. Stress is simply a reminder that you're in a current state of "too much" and you need to return to that beautiful home frequency. Our home frequency is the space in which we reside when we are content and in understanding with the universe. It is with the understanding that we are capable of doing everything we need to do. We just may need to incorporate some mindfulness techniques in order to accomplish these things in our best health. We are talking all about the bedroom for Kat's Crumble this week. Ask yourself, "what is it I do in bed?". If your answer isn't "sex and sleep," make sure you listen till the end to understand why you're doing it wrong. Your bedroom should be a reflection of the peace and serenity you desire when you come home; a place where stress can't enter. This episode may be just what you need if you're looking to incorporate more serenity into your space. I want to introduce you to my friend, amazing momma, stylin designer and legit CEO BOSS WOMAN of JBloom Design, Jennifer Bonacorsi! Jenn and I met over a year ago when she brought Boot Camp Challenge® to JBloom. I went to help launch the program and was in a bit of shock and awe when I saw her show up in a boot! Yep, she had just had surgery on her foot but was so excited to do the program, she decided to do it in her boot and take the options. I immediately knew she was my kind of peoples. What I didn’t know at the time was how like-minded we were in other areas of our lives. For instance, we are both mamas; she to four beautiful girls and me, well, you know my fam. We both created companies and encountered so many obstacles we became warriors AND wonder women. We both work with AND like our husband (although we both demand “alone” time). And, we both rely on our faith during the trials of tribulations of not only the business life but also real life. And, we both enjoy running although we are NOT runners. As we sat down and began to share our stories, another thing struck me: Jenn’s courage. A few years in of starting the company that would become known as JBloom, she had to pivot. In order to keep her vision alive, she had to change her entire company. And she had to do it in a day. If any of you have had to make change in either your personal life or professional life, you know the challenge. And, she did it- with grace, gratitude and God. So, I would LOVE for you to grab your beverage of choice, take a comfy seat (or grab your water jug and take a walk) and listen as Jenn shares the story of JBloom, how she incorporates wellness in her crazy busy personal and professional life, and how she relies on her faith to change women’s lives across the country. Oh, and we also talk about the following: - How to balance family and a career - The number one strategy to keep you on track with your fitness routine - The challenges of incorporating your faith into your company. - How having your utilities turned off can be a “life” lesson (btw, it happened to both of us!) While Jen and I dive into some serious chat, we also enjoy a lot of laughs. And, for whatever reason, I said “a hundred percent” a HUNDRED times (sorry!). As always, I so appreciate you. And, I love your suggestions. Please continue to reach out with your ideas and comments. It is why I do what I do. Take care this week, make good choices and remember, women rock! Much love,LorsXoxo
