Everyone is trying to optimize their health with trackers, supplements, morning routines, and biohacking tools, but sometimes the basics are still the biggest needle-movers. In this episode, we unpack why sleep, stress, relationships, food quality, and even walking may matter more than the latest wellness trend. We dive deeper into this in the Habits & Hustle Podcast with Shawn Stevenson. We also chat about melatonin, sleep quality, wearables, fat loss, protein, weighted vests, GLP-1s, and why your relationships may be the most underrated longevity hack. Shawn Stevenson is the host of The Model Health Show, one of the top-rated health podcasts. He is the author of Sleep Smarter, which became an international bestseller and has been translated into more than 20 languages. He is also the author of Eat Smarter and the Eat Smarter Family Cookbook. What's Discussed: (02:11) How Shawn Stevenson wrote one of the first bestselling books on sleep before it became a wellness trend. (03:08) Why sleep was the missing factor for clients who were doing everything “right” but not seeing results. (04:20) How morning exercise can help reset your cortisol rhythm and improve sleep quality. (09:29) What people misunderstand about melatonin and why taking more is not always better. (22:16) Why waking up in the middle of the night is not always a problem. (27:28) Are wearables actually improving your health or making you more neurotic? (37:04) Why your relationships may be the number one factor in longevity. (48:19) How sleep deprivation can make you lose muscle instead of body fat. (55:16) Why calories matter, but food quality changes what your body does with them. (1:18:14) The weighted vest study that explains why gravitational loading may help prevent weight regain. Host David Horton interviews Thomas Jefferson about the phrase "Pursuit of Happiness" in the Declaration of Independence. The program begins with Mr. Horton asking the third president to read the entire Declaration, including its long list of abuses and usurpations brought by King George III and the British Parliament. Why did Jefferson substitute "pursuit of happiness" for John Locke's "life, liberty, and property?" What did Jefferson mean by happiness? Once Clay breaks character in the third segment of the program, the question is: how well is the pursuit of happiness faring in our time? Do the American people still understand what's at stake in a self-governing republic? Where are we headed, and what can we do about it? This episode was recorded on April 24, 2026.

A New Model for Treating Trauma Do You Need to Revisit the Past to Heal Trauma? Episode Overview In this episode, David and Kevin explore a provocative idea: healing from trauma may not require revisiting the past at all. Drawing from decades of clinical experience and data-driven research, David challenges a core assumption in trauma therapy and explains why focusing on the present moment can lead to rapid and lasting change. Key Takeaways A Radical Shift in Trauma Treatment Traditional approaches often emphasize revisiting and "processing" past trauma. David argues that this may be unnecessary—and sometimes counterproductive. His clinical experience suggests trauma can often be resolved in a single session by focusing on current thoughts and feelings. The Power of the Present Moment Patients consistently want help with what's bothering them right now, not necessarily past events. Changing how someone feels in the present can dissolve the emotional impact of past trauma. "The past is embedded in the present"—shift the present, and the past loses its grip. The Cognitive Model at Work Emotional suffering is driven not by events, but by thoughts about those events. When distorted thoughts are identified and challenged, emotional distress can rapidly disappear. This applies to trauma, depression, anxiety, and more. Data-Driven Insights Statistical modeling of patient data revealed that past emotional history does not predict recovery. In fact, including past data made predictive models less effective. Present-moment variables fully explained improvement. Powerful Clinical Stories Anne's Story (Terminal Cancer Diagnosis) Faced with a devastating diagnosis, Anne experienced severe depression. In a single session, her distorted thoughts (self-blame, guilt) were challenged. Her depression dropped from severe to zero—and did not return over the next two years. Trauma Workshop Demonstrations Across dozens of live demonstrations, participants with severe trauma experienced complete symptom relief within hours. Most work focused on present concerns—not revisiting traumatic memories. Latvian Survivor's Story A woman who survived Nazi-era trauma attempted suicide decades later. Her distress was tied not to past trauma, but to a belief: "I am worthless." Challenging that thought led to rapid recovery. Key Concepts Healthy vs. Unhealthy Negative Emotions Healthy: sadness, grief, concern Unhealthy: shame, guilt, worthlessness Therapy aims to eliminate distorted, self-defeating emotions, not natural human feelings. Exposure Therapy—Used Selectively Exposure can be powerful, especially for anxiety. However, it's often not necessary for trauma recovery. David reports using it rarely in trauma cases. No One-Size-Fits-All Approach Effective therapy requires a toolbox of techniques, not rigid adherence to one method. TEAM-CBT emphasizes flexibility and rapid testing of what works. Practical Tools for Listeners Daily Mood Log: Identify and challenge negative thoughts in real time Cognitive Techniques: Learn to "crush" distorted thinking patterns Self-Help Resources: Feeling Good by Dr. David Burns When Panic Attacks Dr. David Burns Feeling Great Dr. David Burns Feeling Great App: Free tool to practice these methods interactively Memorable Quote "The moment you stop believing a distorted thought is the moment your negative feelings disappear." Final Thoughts This episode offers a hopeful and empowering message: You may not need to relive your past to heal from it. By changing how you think and feel today, meaningful recovery can happen faster than you might expect. What's Coming Next Next episode: A deeper dive into trauma treatment using memory rescripting, including when revisiting the past can be helpful. Thanks for listening—see you next time! There is a silent mind game stealing your peace — and you've been trained to play it every day.  If you can't stop comparing yourself to others, this episode may hit a nerve. That sick little feeling of “Why am I not enough?” It isn't something another promotion, relationship, body, bank account, or achievement is going to fix. I'm sitting down with Harvard psychologist Dr. Ron Siegel to reveal the brutal truth: your brain is wired to rank you. And the comparison game is designed so you never actually win. This conversation will help you understand why success never satisfies for long, why self-esteem can become a trap, and how radical self-acceptance can finally get you off the emotional rollercoaster. You'll learn: Why comparing yourself to others feels impossible to stop The ancient brain wiring behind “not good enough” Why every achievement high wears off so fast How social media and culture weaponize comparison Why “just build your self-esteem” can backfire The shift from impressing people to actually connecting How to begin feeling free without becoming someone else This is for anyone who's tired of measuring their worth against everyone else's highlight reel. You don't have to win the comparison game to feel okay. You can step out of it — and come back to yourself. Indigenous artist Dr. Lyla June Johnston leads a 5-minute freewriting exercise about our personal journeys. Autobiographical writing has been shown to help do better in relationships and feel more satisfied in life. How to Do This Practice: Ground yourself: Sit in a comfortable position and take a few slow breaths. Notice the inhale and exhale without trying to change anything. Let your attention settle into your body and the present moment. Set a simple intention: Bring to mind the idea of observing your story with curiosity rather than judgment. You're not trying to write something “good,” just something honest. Write the sentence: “I come from a place where…” and pause briefly before continuing. Let the words that follow come from memory, feeling, or imagery—whatever shows up first. Free-write without stopping: Keep your pen moving for several minutes (around 3–5 minutes, or longer if you like). Don't edit, filter, or worry about grammar or meaning. If you get stuck, repeat the prompt and continue. Notice what emerged: When time is up, read what you wrote slowly. Notice any themes, emotions, memories, or insights that stand out—without trying to fix or interpret them immediately. Reflect and return: Take a moment to acknowledge your experience of the exercise. You might ask: What surprised me? What feels important? Elite athletes don't train at the same intensity 365 days a year. They build in cycles of high effort and deliberate recovery. And their long-term performance isn't just maintained because of this — it's better because of it. I think midlife women need to steal this principle immediately. I make the case for a periodized approach to health and self-care — one that allows for the full range of seasons your life actually contains, rather than demanding a constant intensity that no human body, and certainly no midlife body, can sustainably deliver. This episode reframes flexibility not as inconsistency but as strategy. The woman who shows up every day — scaling to ten minutes on hard days and an hour on easy ones — will go further in a year than the woman who demands perfection and quits when life doesn't cooperate. The thread doesn't break. It changes texture. And that makes all the difference. Ready to go deeper? Long before humanity learned how to build civilizations, economies, governments, religions, or marriage, another architecture was already under construction. It was invisible, portable, and profoundly consequential. It determined not merely how people survived, but where they believed life itself originated. Every culture eventually answered the same question, whether consciously or unconsciously: What must another person provide before I can become fully myself? That answer became the hidden constitution of human intimacy. Perhaps the history of romantic love is not primarily the history of affection. Perhaps it is the history of psychological outsourcing. The history of transferring inward responsibilities onto outward relationships until another human being quietly inherited assignments consciousness never intended them to carry. Happiness became negotiable. Peace became conditional. Worth required witnesses. Identity required agreement. Love became increasingly measured by how successfully one person could regulate another person's interior world. What if that entire direction represents a developmental inversion? Developmental psychology demonstrates that authentic dependency belongs to infancy. Contemplative traditions repeatedly suggest that realization gradually loosens psychological clinging rather than perfecting it. Theological traditions describe Ultimate Reality as fundamentally self-sufficient rather than psychologically deficient. Yet modern intimacy often continues to organize itself around the assumption that another human being should supply what an increasingly mature consciousness might eventually cultivate from within. This conversation refuses to treat that assumption as sacred.

Since becoming head of school in 2023, Peter has helped grow Summit from fewer than 50 students to nearly 140 learners, while expanding staff, facilities, and programs. He explains how Summit blends nature-based, project-driven learning with strong academic outcomes, creating an environment where children develop curiosity, confidence, and a genuine love of learning. Kerry and Peter discuss teacher burnout, school leadership, the challenges of managing rapid growth, and the impact of Texas's new Education Freedom Accounts program. Peter also shares why listening to parents, empowering staff, and focusing on joyful learning have been key ingredients in Summit's success. *** Sign up for Kerry's free, weekly email newsletter on education trends at edentrepreneur.org. https://www.the-christ.net/Join David, Jason, Kirsten, and Marina for this powerful closing session recorded live at the culmination of the Renovatio retreat in Duchesne, Utah. In a gathering filled with joy, gratitude, and heartfelt testimonies, the panel returns to what A Course in Miracles calls one of its deepest and most challenging teachings: True Empathy.Moving beyond sympathy and the temptation to make suffering real, they explore what it means to take complete responsibility for sight—to see with the Holy Spirit, hold no exceptions to the miracle, and recognize that only the truth is true. Through stories, laughter, and profound sharings from retreat participants, this session reveals how every relationship can become a holy opportunity for healing, where we learn to see beyond personalities to the light of Christ in one another.Filled with moving expressions of gratitude, experiences of deep joining, and the joy of discovering that awakening cannot fail, this beautiful conclusion is a celebration of mighty companionship and a reminder that true empathy is not entering into suffering, but standing unwaveringly in love and innocence together. For further insights and unfolding session summaries, be sure to visit David Hoffmeister's Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/david.hoffmeister). If you've ever wondered how a dying loved one's request could become a calling, episode 440 of Grief and Happiness is for you. Ceramic artist Rae Delai shares how a promise to her dying aunt led her to leave nursing and open White Lily Urns, crafting memorial pieces — including a teapot urn for a young woman lost to anorexia and a reef urn that becomes part of the ocean. In This Episode, You Will Learn:(00:55) Rae's path from 30 years in nursing to becoming a full-time ceramic artist(01:27) How her dying aunt's request for an urn led to White Lily Urns(08:30) Why Australian culture — and even most potters — avoid making urns(13:54) The meditative discipline of clay: why you can't create while angry(14:33) How clients find Rae's work and why most of her urns ship overseas(16:38) The personal stories behind her urns, including a dragon urn for a teen who died by suicide(19:00) Designing a custom teapot urn for a young woman who died of anorexia(22:26) Why ceramics are like crystals — and the surprises every kiln firing brings(24:28) How grieving clients choose an urn in the moment, without overthinking it(25:40) The reef-friendly urn Rae created for her own grief, built to become part of a coral reefRae Delai is the ceramic artist behind White Lily Urns, a memorial pottery studio in Atherton, Far North Queensland, Australia. After 30 years as a nurse in intensive care, midwifery, and palliative care, she took up pottery as a creative outlet — and when her dying aunt asked her to make an urn for her ashes, Rae found few handmade options existed in Australia. That gap led her to leave nursing for a full-time business making custom urns, capturing each loved one's story with input from families. She now sells through her website and Etsy as White Lily Urns, shipping worldwide. On the episode, Rae drew on her nursing background and her craft to discuss death, grief, and the comfort of creating something meaningful from loss. She described Australians' general discomfort with death, even among potters, and how nursing taught her to sit with grieving families without absorbing their pain. She shared personal projects: a teapot urn for a young woman who died of anorexia, a dragon-faced urn for a teen who died by suicide, and a reef urn made for her own grief that dissolves into the ocean. She closed on the centeredness clay demands and the realities of running her business alone.Connect with Rae Delai:WebsiteLinkedInInstagramFacebookYouTubeXPinterestLet's Connect: WebsiteLinkedInFacebookInstagramTwitterPinterestThe Grief and Happiness AllianceBook: Emily Thiroux Threatt - Loving and Living Your Way Through Grief Hosted on Acast. Mastering the Daily Mood Log Small Details, Life-Changing Results Episode Summary The Daily Mood Log might seem simple—even boring—but its impact can be profound. In this episode, David and Kevin break down how to use this powerful CBT tool effectively, highlighting the most common mistakes people make and how to avoid them. They explain why focusing on a single specific moment is the key to emotional transformation, how to accurately identify feelings, and how to uncover the exact thoughts driving distress. This practical deep dive shows how small shifts in technique can lead to dramatic improvements in mood, confidence, and even what David calls "enlightenment." Step 1: Upsetting Event / Moment Identify one specific moment in time (not a general problem). Include details: Where were you? Who was there? What exactly happened? Common Mistakes: ❌ Being too vague: "My life is a mess" ❌ Writing thoughts instead of events: "I'm not good enough" ❌ Describing ongoing situations instead of a moment Example: ✔️ "At 3pm today, my boss criticized my report in a meeting." Step 2: Emotions Circle or list all emotions you felt Rate each from 0–100% intensity Examples: Sad / Down – 60% Anxious / Nervous – 70% Ashamed – 50% Common Mistakes: ❌ Skipping this step ❌ Not rating intensity ❌ Thinking feelings can't be measured Why It Matters: Helps track progress Improves emotional awareness Increases accuracy and empathy Step 3: Negative Thoughts Write short, specific thoughts (1 sentence each) Focus on what you were telling yourself Examples: "I'm a failure." "There's something wrong with me." "I'll never succeed." Common Mistakes: ❌ Writing long paragraphs ❌ Including events ("She rejected me") ❌ Including feelings ("I feel terrible") ❌ Writing questions ("Why am I like this?" → convert to statement) Tip: Work through emotions one at a time: "What thought caused my sadness?" "What thought caused my anxiety?" Step 4: Positive Thoughts Generate thoughts that: ✅ Are 100% true ✅ Reduce belief in the negative thought Examples: "I made a mistake in that meeting, but that doesn't define my entire ability." "One criticism doesn't mean I'm a failure." Common Mistakes: ❌ Cheerleading ("I'm awesome no matter what") ❌ Irrelevant truths ("At least I can cook") ❌ Statements you don't fully believe Key Insight: Truth alone isn't enough—it must directly challenge the negative belief. Step 5: Re-evaluate Belief in Negative Thought After generating positive thoughts, re-rate how much you believe the original thought Example: "I'm a failure" Before: 90% After: 0% Goal: Reduce belief as much as possible (ideally close to 0%) Why It Matters: Emotional change happens when belief in negative thoughts decreases The greater the reduction, the greater the relief Core Principle Change one moment → understand the pattern → apply it everywhere. Memorable Quotes "We're not fishing for small improvements—we're going after the big fish." "I can't help you with your whole life, but I can help you with one moment." "The truth—not positive thinking—is what sets you free." "Without measuring feelings, therapists are mostly guessing." Practical Exercise Try this today: (Download a blank Daily Mood Log at this link) Write down one upsetting moment Rate your feelings (0–100%) List 3–5 short negative thoughts Challenge one thought with a 100% true alternative Who This Episode Is For Therapists using CBT or TEAM-CBT Anyone struggling with anxiety, depression, or self-doubt Listeners who want practical, structured tools for change Connect & Learn More Read Dr. Burns' latest articles on Psychology Today Explore more tools and resources at FeelingGood.com Learn about TEAM-CBT training and techniques If you enjoyed this episode, please consider subscribing, sharing the podcast, or leaving a review. Uncertainty can make you anxious, controlling, and completely exhausted, but staying steady is a skill you can build. Here's the real reason you can't seem to figure out how to deal with uncertainty: you've been taught that calm is a personality trait. Something you either have or you don't. It's not. The people who stay grounded when life blows up the plan didn't win some genetic lottery. They've built a skill. And by the end of this episode, you'll know how to start building it too. Today, I'm talking with executive coach Liz Tran about the agility quotient, the trainable intelligence that helps you stay steady when everything is changing. If the constant churn at work, in your relationships, and in the world has you anxious, overthinking, bracing, or trying to control every possible outcome, this conversation is for you. You'll learn how to build mental toughness from the inside out, how to get out of your comfort zone on purpose, and how to start changing your life even when the future feels uncertain, without pretending you've got it all figured out. In this episode: 04:20: The skill no one taught you, but everyone needs now 08:09: The “third intelligence” that matters when plans fall apart 18:27: The one-question reframe that flips dread into fuel 19:24: Four quiet habits steady people rely on under pressure 29:24: Which “change type” are you? 52:16: Why Googling and doom-scrolling make uncertainty worse 53:11: The boat metaphor that can change your next bad day 1:04:27: What helps kids become resilient instead of brittle If you're tired of living inside the spiral, needing control, asking “why is this happening to me,” and avoiding anything uncomfortable, I really want you to hear this one. Because uncertainty isn't going away. But you can become someone who knows how to meet it. Grace & Grit Podcast: Helping Women Everywhere Live Happier, Healthier and More Fit Lives

There is a thought — probably more than one — that is running your health journey from behind the scenes. Not a conscious strategy. A background belief that shapes what you attempt, what you avoid, how you interpret setbacks, and whether you keep going when things get hard. And most women have never stopped to examine it. I explore what it means to become a deliberate observer of your own thinking — not to eliminate difficult thoughts, but to stop giving them automatic authority. Because a thought is not a fact. It's a proposal. And you get to decide whether to believe it. I make the case that the most powerful health intervention available to many women isn't physical at all. It's learning to notice the thoughts that aren't serving you — and practicing, one moment at a time, choosing a different one. That practice, done consistently, produces real, lasting change. McKay explores the "because I choose to" mindset - the principle that circumstances don't dictate our reality or outcomes. Throughout the episode he demonstrates that, while life often burdens us with the heavy weight of "I have to," freedom and success emerge when we recognize our inherent agency to choose our response. In addition to highlighting Ashleigh Barty's intentional return to tennis and contrasting it with her earlier burnout, our host goes on to share such stories as Desmond Doss's battlefield convictions and Holocaust survivor Eddie Jaku's choice to be "The Happiest Man on Earth." From Arunima Sinha's Everest climb to McKay's lesson at a prison gate, this episode shows how embracing reality changes destiny, urging us to use choice to build an extraordinary life.Main Themes:Why the "I choose to" mindset and intentionality outpace obligation and pressureAshleigh Barty's choice to walk away from and intentionally return to professional tennisLearning to find the positive in a backward-loaded route through the delivery truck lessonHow Desmond Doss held onto his convictions at Hacksaw Ridge despite hostile circumstancesWhy resisting reality consumes energy without producing results and the value of embracing it insteadEddie Jaku's survival of Auschwitz and his decision to become "The Happiest Man on Earth"Kerry Egan's hospice observations on finding meaning at the end of life through acceptanceHow Arunima Sinha scaled Mount Everest and redefined her identity after a tragic train incidentBuilding identity through small and repeated choices that turn into habits and characterDiscovering the ultimate freedom by recognizing our agency and participation in any circumstanceTop 10 Quotes:"Most of us do have a choice. And when we remember that we can choose and do choose, our approach is different. It's more healthy.""The human mind has the ability to assign meaning to experience, and that meaning directly influences our behavior and long-term outcomes.""The circumstance itself doesn't determine the meaning, but the response does.""Suffering is not only caused by what happens, but also by what we do with it.""Happiness does not fall from the sky. It's in your hands. It comes from a choice inside you.""Small choices accumulate into identity through repetition.""The shift from 'I have to' to 'I choose to' is therefore not semantic. It's internal strength.""To live from this perspective is to recognize that while circumstances may be given, our level of participation is chosen."Show Links:Open Your Eyes with McKay Christensen

Grace & Grit Podcast: Helping Women Everywhere Live Happier, Healthier and More Fit Lives

Most women end their day scanning for everything they didn't do. Every missed intention, every place they fell short, every reminder of how far they still have to go. And they call that honesty. But it's not honesty — it's selective attention. And that selectivity is quietly draining the motivation you need to keep going. I introduce the Victory Log — not as a positivity exercise, but as a practical counter-move against the brain's natural negativity bias. Because motivation doesn't come first. It follows evidence of progress. And if you're not deliberately tracking that evidence, your brain will fill in the gap with everything that went wrong. This episode will change how you end your days. It's a small practice with a disproportionate impact — and once you understand why it works, you'll wonder how you ever went without it. What can a singing bird, a neighborhood walk, and a pair of puppet adventurers teach us about awe? Sit down with Wowsabout! creators Dorien Davies and Halle Stanford to discuss helping kids—and grownups—find wonder wherever they are.Summary: Kids may be natural wonder-seekers, but how do we help them hold onto that sense of awe as they grow up? On this episode of The Science of Happiness, we talk with Wowsabout! creators Dorien Davies and Halle Stanford about creating a PBS Kids special inspired by awe, the science behind wonder, and why small moments—a bird singing at dawn, a blooming jasmine vine, or a walk around the block—can help us feel more connected to ourselves and the world around us. Together, they explore how cultivating awe can foster curiosity, resilience, creativity, and belonging for children and adults alike. How To Do This Practice: Slow down and set an intention: Pause your usual routine and decide to look for something that inspires wonder. Notice what you feel: Tune into physical sensations, like the warmth of the sun, a cool breeze, or your feet touching the ground. Look closely at your surroundings: Pay attention to colors, shapes, textures, or movement that you might normally overlook. Listen with curiosity: Notice the sounds around you—the birds, the wind, distant voices, or the hum of your neighborhood. Follow what captures your attention: If something sparks your interest or amazement, spend a moment with it instead of rushing on. Reflect on your experience: At the end of your walk, consider what surprised you and how it made you feel more connected to the world around you. If your mind starts spinning the second your head hits the pillow, replaying the conversation you had at lunch and rehearsing the one you have to have tomorrow, I want to tell you something that genuinely surprised me. Sometimes the goal is not to get rid of your anxiety at all. In this episode, I sit down with Dr. Chloe Carmichael, the clinical psychologist and USA Today bestselling author of Nervous Energy, who taught me to treat anxiety as a signal rather than a malfunction. Dr. Chloe and I work through how to tell the worry that is worth listening to from the kind that just loops, and then we go somewhere I did not expect, into why holding everything in might be quietly making your anxiety worse. In This Episode Why trying to get rid of your anxiety can backfire, and the single question to ask it instead The mind map exercise for the kind of worry you cannot quite put your finger on How to tell healthy fear from overthinking that just spins in circles The eight Diet Cokes story that changed how I check for anxiety, because the body comes first Why holding things in actually creates more anxiety instead of less The difference between self censorship and healthy self restraint, and a simple way to spot which one you are doing What to do when you finally speak up and it does not go well, including a tool Dr. Chloe calls the debrief date What the friendship between two famously opposite Supreme Court justices teaches us about staying close to people we disagree with This episode is for anyone who has ever laid awake at 2am with a brain that simply would not power down, then dragged through the next day exhausted and wired at the same time. It is also for you if you have ever smiled and nodded along with something you did not believe, and walked away feeling a little smaller for it. Anxiety and authenticity are far more connected than most of us realize. This conversation is about both, and about how getting a grip on one quietly helps you with the other.      Women have been told how we have to show up at work, in our relationships, in our families, in society at large, forever. And it turns out it's costing us way more than we thought. It's making us sick. My guest today, Sara Hirsh Bordo, is a 15-time award-winning documentary filmmaker and somebody who was hit with melanoma, breast tumors, Hashimoto's, and Epstein-Barr all at once. Instead of just treating it, she investigated it. She funded her own research of 1,000 women, the first-ever study on the relationship between empowerment and autoimmune conditions, and what she found was absolutely groundbreaking. Her study was endorsed by a former US surgeon general, and it's an absolute paradigm shift in how we think about autoimmune conditions. Sarah has since completely healed, and we're going to talk about exactly what she did in this episode.

Andy Stumpf is a retired Navy SEAL, world-record-holding wingsuit BASE jumper, martial artist, and author. We discuss the mental framework and moment-to-moment decision-making process that can allow anyone to build discipline and resilience and better navigate both everyday life and life's most challenging moments. Andy explains several simple-yet-powerful tools gleaned from his time in — and after — his SEAL career that can help you determine where to focus your actions and how to clear your mind of things you can't control or that hold you back mentally. Andy also shares and reflects on lessons learned from some of the deeply personal challenges he faced outside of combat and freefall. Finally, we explore the all-too-frequent tragedy of people — including high performers — taking their own lives, and consider what might be done to prevent more such losses.
