But sometimes the problem is that people are choosing foods that they think are healthy but actually are not. (11:27) Oatmeal; First of all, it's a grain, so you wanna be thinking about it as a grain. What happens with grains when they get digested? They get metabolized and they raise blood sugar.  Any kind of grain is going to raise your blood sugar. There is fiber in oatmeal, but there are a lot of carbs that are going to raise your blood sugar and cause pancreatic stress. (37:17) If I have any advice, it's to check the labels on everything you eat and even better try to eat mostly food that doesn't have a food label.

Inflammation is simply our immune system's natural response to illnesses and injury. This involves the release of inflammatory chemicals in the bloodstream to protect the body from foreign invaders like bacteria and viruses. In the case of an injury, a localized inflammatory response helps in the healing process. There are two types of inflammation: The acute and chronic form. Acute inflammation helps us heal, so you can think of it as the “good” kind of inflammation. But the chronic inflammation is associated with chronic conditions or diseases, so you can describe it as the “bad” kind of inflammation. What makes chronic inflammation harmful to health? Unlike the acute form of inflammation that is typically caused by injuries or illnesses, chronic inflammation often happens without any injury or illness present. And the bad part is that it lasts far longer than it should. In fact, this condition is a major contributing factor in many diseases associated with getting older. Over time, chronic inflammation can cause major changes to the body's cells, tissues, and organs. Over time, this progresses to DNA damage and tissue death. Although scientists do not know why all chronic inflammation happens, this condition is one of the several contributing factors in diseases onset and progression. So far, chronic inflammation has a strong link with heart disease and type 2 diabetes. Other conditions associated with this form of inflammation include High blood pressure Kidney disease High cholesterol Depression Various types of cancer Osteoporosis Autoimmune disorders Fatty liver disease Neurodegenerative disorders Chronic inflammation is quite dangerous because it often progresses quietly with only a few independent symptoms. And despite the subtle nature of this condition, it represents a major threat to the health and longevity of a large population of people. Now, you may be wondering, what are the sources of chronic inflammation? Let's dive quickly into it. What causes chronic inflammation? Several kinds of scientific studied have identified different causes of chronic systemic inflammation, many of which are associated with our lifestyle and aging. The causes of chronic inflammation include: Diet Foods that are high in refined sugar, trans fat, and saturated fat are largely linked with increased inflammation, especially in overweight people.     Physical inactivity When your muscles are in constant motion, it supports an anti-inflammatory chemical process in your bloodstream. But unfortunately, many people do not meet the minimum activity recommendations for optimal health, and this cause an increased risk of age-related diseases. Obesity When you have too much visceral fat (a deep layer of fat) around your abdominal organs, it triggers the production of pro-inflammatory chemicals. Low sex hormones When you have lower levels of sex hormones like testosterone and estrogen, especially in older age, it increases your risk of suffering inflammatory diseases. Sleep disorders Chronic inflammation can be triggered when you have irregular sleep schedules. On the other hand, a regular eight hours sleep helps to lower markers of inflammation. Age As you grow older, you stand more risk of suffering chronic inflammation. Smoking Smoking cigarettes have been studied to lower the level of anti-inflammatory markers and increase the risk of chronic inflammation. I was a bit of a shock to me and I didn't like the feeling of buying larger clothes and looking down at my stomach and wondering how it got so big. I'm not saying I was obese, but I could see the future and my future was fat. I tried simply eating less or so called healthier, but it difficult to know what will help me loose weight. Finally, after purchasing a large shirt (I am normally a medium) I decided that I needed to take action. Some may believe that my motivation to loose weight was about vanity and you are not wrong. However, it was far more that my ego being bruised, it was also about how I felt. The more weight i gained the more tired I was and the less physical exercise I was doing. It had become a vicious circle that I was finding very difficult to break. The final straw was when my wife started patting my tummy and my jeans were getting hard to put on without my belly hanging over the top. My ego was crushed and my mind told me that I need to do something. Keto was not my first choice, but it seemed to be the easiest to commit to. What interested me was that the theory of a keto diet was so simply. I needed to reduce the amount of carbs I ate to the minimum while at the same time eat a high fat diet. Even though we eat far fewer carbs, we increase the fats and proteins. Eating less carbs increases our metabolic rate (ketosis) hence burn body fat as energy.

So we'll admit that it has been awhile in the world of delay radio. Some life things happened, mostly winter. But we've crawled out of our bear caves to get things going again. That said, Jethrow didn't know that the 'Florida man' thing existed, so just before jumping on the mics, we did it. You enter your Florida man and your birthday into Google, and you're essentially whatever the headline is.Jethrow searched for his, where a man decided to throw a toilet through a window, and long story short, when cops showed up, the man was actually sitting on a toilet, it's a number 2 felony. Honch looks for his, and again, a toilet story - Walmart bathroom. And at some point, Honch mistook the Twilight Zone reboot with the revival of Twilight, where he declared he is for team Jacob (we don't care how it is spelled). So at the beginning of the year, all of us kicked off a 'diet', and our dad bod. Honch gets upset over some of the foods to have diet...and somehow we end up insulting Mike Tyson, whom we actually love by the way.We're not really sure what else just happened.

How do I get into a calorie deficit? What diet/foods do I need to eat. I’m starting the gym soon doing resistance training 6 days a week along with walking 3 days a week for 30 minutes as cardio? 02:39 I'm trying to switch from counting calories to intuitive eating while eating a mainly whole food diet & meat. But I'm worried I'll overeat on things like nuts, beans and seeds etc. Any advice would be appreciated? 18:26 I want to look more like you, what supplements should I use?  24:33 I moved to NY/NJ from Ireland 9 years ago.
