On 5 November 1605, Guy Fawkes became infamous not for what he achieved, but for what he failed to do: kill King James VI & I and bring down the British parliament. But what if the Gunpowder Plot had been successful? How would it have reshaped Britain, Europe and even the wider world? And would Shakespeare have written 'Guy Fawkes' instead of 'Macbeth'?In this special episode Professor Suzannah Lipscomb explores one of history's most tantalising "what ifs" with a panel of historians: Jessie Childs, Gareth Russell and Professor Anna Whitelock.Mary I: What If She'd Lived?Gunpowder Plot: Tudor OriginsPresented by Professor Suzannah Lipscomb. In this episode of The Wright Report, Bryan breaks down what fueled Democrats' big election wins, the White House response to those losses, and why the GOP is now divided over whether to end the Senate filibuster. We'll also cover a plane crash in Kentucky, Europe's migrant gang crisis, China's backtracking on trade promises, and good news from the world of medicine. Election Aftermath and the GOP Divide: Republicans are blaming blue states for this week's Democratic sweep, but Vice President JD Vance says the problem is deeper — working-class voters are frustrated with slow economic progress. Bryan agrees, warning that without action on wages, housing, and immigration, low-propensity MAGA voters will stay home in 2026. White House Strategy and Filibuster Fight: Trump is pushing GOP senators to scrap the filibuster so his economic agenda can pass with a simple majority. Some Republicans refuse, but others warn that Democrats will eventually do it anyway. Bryan says, "If the GOP waits too long, America could wake up with Marxist mayors becoming its presidents." Migrant Crime Spreads in Europe: Norway is facing bombings and assassinations linked to North African and Middle Eastern migrant gangs spreading from Sweden. Police say children as young as ten are being recruited for contract killings — some even hired by Iran. Bryan warns, "This is what happens when immigration policy abandons common sense." Gaza's Tunnel Stalemate: Dozens of Hamas fighters are trapped in their own tunnels and begging Israel for mercy. Trump and Arab partners are urging Israel to show compassion, while Jerusalem insists the militants must surrender or face the consequences. China Backtracks on Soybean Deal: Beijing is quietly reinstating tariffs that make U.S. soybeans less competitive, undermining its trade pledges with Trump. Farmers are waiting to see if Xi Jinping will keep his word or walk away from the agreement entirely. Medical Breakthroughs — Schizophrenia and Wound Healing: British researchers discovered that the common antibiotic doxycycline may reduce schizophrenia risk by up to 35 percent. Meanwhile, University of Pennsylvania scientists found that rosemary compounds help wounds heal faster with less scarring.   "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." - John 8:32     Keywords: 2025 election results Democrats sweep, JD Vance working-class voters economy, Trump filibuster repeal GOP divide, Norway migrant gangs Foxtrot Rumba Iran, Hamas Gaza tunnel standoff, China soybean tariffs trade deal, doxycycline schizophrenia study UK, rosemary wound healing University of Pennsylvania

He compares Ja's stalled maturity and Zion Williamson's lack of evolution to the steady growth and professionalism of Victor Wembanyama, Nikola Jokić, and Giannis Antetokounmpo — stars who treat the game as craft, not performance.Ric also examines why American player development has fallen behind Europe's, how Pat Riley's shift toward international talent reflects a changing NBA, and what the Chicago Bulls' surprising start reveals about teamwork over showmanship. From leadership accountability to the future of U.S. basketball, this episode challenges the culture of “flash over fundamentals” and asks the question: What happened to making American players great again?

In this episode of the Breakfast Leadership Show, Michael speaks with AI strategist and author Steff about the real-world impact of artificial intelligence on the workforce. Together, they challenge the common narrative that AI is replacing human jobs and explore how leaders can adopt AI responsibly without losing sight of the human element. AI's Limited Impact on the Workforce Steff shares her concerns about companies prematurely laying off employees under the guise of AI adoption, emphasizing that today's AI lacks the depth to truly replace people. Michael echoes this sentiment, noting that many organizations are jumping into AI initiatives without understanding the implications. Both agree that while AI will transform the workforce over time, we're far from a reality where machines can replace human intelligence and empathy. Rethinking Employment Dynamics Michael and Steff dive into the nuances of AI's effect on employment. While automation can replace certain tasks, it often leads to cost-cutting rather than meaningful innovation. Steff highlights how AI can reduce repetitive work, freeing humans to focus on creativity and strategy. The two also compare cultural differences between North America and Europe—where stronger work-life balance and social systems offer a healthier framework for integrating technology into work. AI as a Productivity Partner The conversation shifts to the potential of AI as a collaboration tool. Michael explains how AI-powered note-taking and workflow tools can enhance meetings by freeing up cognitive space and improving documentation. Steff and Michael agree that AI democratizes access to powerful tools, empowering individuals to be more productive, even as organizations struggle to integrate these systems effectively. Context Is the New Skillset Steff introduces a fascinating idea—the rise of the “context engineer.” As businesses rely on AI, she argues that human understanding of nuance, culture, and emotional intelligence will become essential to guide AI systems effectively. Context engineers will bridge the gap between data and human meaning, ensuring AI remains a support, not a substitute. What AI Can't Replace Drawing from her book Being Replaced, Steff outlines five uniquely human skills that AI cannot automate: flexible thinking, emotional intelligence, collective intelligence, intuition, and true innovation. She underscores that while AI can simulate emotion or pattern recognition, it cannot create, connect, or empathize as humans do. Michael reinforces that innovation and adaptability have always been the cornerstones of human progress. AI as a Tool for Human Enhancement The episode closes on an optimistic note. Steff discusses her open-source framework for using AI intelligently and invites listeners to explore her resources on her website and GitHub. Together, Michael and Steff remind us that AI should be viewed not as a threat, but as a powerful enhancement tool that amplifies human capability, creativity, and connection. Listen now to discover how to lead in the age of AI without losing what makes us human. For more insights on leadership, burnout prevention, and workplace culture, visit BreakfastLeadership.com/blog.   Steff Vanhaverbeke - The "Superworker" Revolution   While 76% of professionals are drowning in AI overwhelm, Steff discovered how to use AI to prevent burnout instead of causing it. Her "Superworker" methodology helps leaders achieve 3x productivity without working harder by building an "AI Second Brain."   Starting as a graphic designer in 1993 during the web's emergence, she now coaches professionals at Microsoft, Deloitte, and PwC. Her recent webinar to 400 people generated feedback like "This is exactly what I needed, not another technical course, but insights and ways to get a grip on AI with my team."   Possible discussion topics: AI leadership without burnout Cognitive agility for leaders Guiding teams through tech transformation The five levels of AI adoption (from overwhelmed to empowered) Building psychological safety during technological change Why human skills become more valuable as AI handles routine work

Europe is a prime target for global adversaries. There is a strong emphasis on eCrime across the region as well as a rise in hacktivism and espionage stemming from ongoing conflicts. The CrowdStrike 2025 European Threat Landscape Report breaks down these trends. In this episode, Adam and Cristian cover the highlights. They start with cybercrime, a major theme of the report. The five most targeted European nations were the U.K., Germany, Italy, France, and Spain, which also represent the region's largest economies (excluding Russia). The most targeted sectors were manufacturing, professional services, technology, industrials and engineering, and retail. Adam explains how eCrime threat actors are looking for victims with a high need to stay operational. “With manufacturing, if they're knocked offline because of ransomware, they can count the downtime in dollars and cents,” he shares as an example. On the nation-state front, Russia is top of mind. Since its invasion of Ukraine in 2022, many Russian threat actors who operated globally are more focused on Ukraine and areas related to the conflict. Adam and Cristian discuss reports of North Korean threat actors supporting the Russians with weapons and personnel, North Korea targeting Ukraine, and the tactics and techniques that stand out most. The European threat landscape is crowded and complex. Tune in to understand the key findings, and download the full report for more details. https://www.crowdstrike.com/en-us/resources/reports/2025-european-threat-landscape-report/

My guest on the show today is Gwen Hofmeyr, Founder and Senior Analyst at Maiden Financial. In this episode, Gwen walks us through her unique research methodology — which she refers to as “financial archaeology.” This is a process built around extremely deep, original investigative work designed to uncover uncommon information — insights that simply aren't available in typical company reports or mainstream research. We discuss how Gwen routinely spends 200 to 600 hours analyzing a single company, validating market share by breaking down thousands of individual products, and constructing an understanding of a business that is entirely independent of management narrative and sell-side opinion. We also talk about how this approach leads to owner-level conviction, and why that conviction matters so much in the microcap universe, where volatility is high and broad consensus is often absent. Gwen also shares why some of the most compelling opportunities she's finding today are in Europe, particularly in industrial and lagging-edge technology companies, and how AI is actually increasing the value of deep human research — not replacing it. This week I'm joined by the wildly well-traveled UK based model, Jade Kitty Dawson: a full-time touring art nude / fashion / alt model who has shot over countless photo sessions across Europe. She and I finally found a moment to connect despite the 7-hour time zone difference between the US and the UK. We talk about the realities of modeling in the UK vs mainland Europe (and why the rates are often lower in the UK), how she strategically chooses where she tours so she can still walk away with profit, and her upcoming major leap: planning her very first tour to Australia, where she'll be flying 22+ hours for a 2–3 week run. What I love about Jade is her willingness to take those big, scary leaps purely in the name of growth - even when she's nervous - because, as she says, “you always regret the chances you didn't take.”   We also dive deep into the beginning of her career — she started doing “site modeling” at just 14, styling, shooting, and editing her own photos as a one-woman creative outlet, which genuinely helped her come out of a dark period of bullying, depression, and anxiety. From there we follow her path into professional modeling, the encouragement she received to try art nude, navigating family reactions, and the harsh lessons she learned about safety while traveling internationally as a freelance model. (She's had to deal with both genuinely kind photographers who lay out a full spread of snacks… AND the rare creeps who prove that even a photographer you've known for years can cross a line.) All in all, this is such a raw, honest, truly global conversation about independence, self-trust, taking risks, and staying safe in a wildly unconventional career. Elon Musk reposted our Grooming Gangs Coverup clip which has gained over 2.6 million views since last week. So many people have learned the truth about the biggest crime in UK history that led to the biggest coverup. It is the film you have to watch. It tells the truth about the Muslim ‘'Grooming Gangs” that are basically rape gangs who targetted white British girls for abuse. The film is a verbatim re-enactment of the judge's sentencing remarks in one of the few criminal trials that arose from the abuse. It is shocking to hear what happened to these girls and how the authorities refused to investigate because they were afraid of being called racist. It was identity politics at its worst and thousands of girls paid the price. In today's podcast Phelim talks with the brilliant British actor, Dominic Frisby, who played the judge in the film and who posted the clip which Elon Musk saw and reposted. Watch the show where they unpack just how long the grooming gangs have plagued the UK (and Europe) and why it was covered up for so long. I am so excited to say that my guest on the GWA Podcast today is the esteemed curator, Megan Fontanella. A specialist in Modern Art and Provenance at the Guggenheim New York, Fontanella's research interests focus on late 19th and early 20th European art and the avant-garde in the USA. She has organised a plethora of exhibitions for the Guggenheim across the globe, from Visionaries: Creating a Modern Guggenheim (2017); Kandinsky (2020–21); Kandinsky: Around the Circle (2021–22; 2023–24); Young Picasso in Paris (2023), as well as travelling collection exhibitions in Australia, Canada, and Europe. But the reason why we are speaking to Fontanella today is because she is very excitingly curating a monumental exhibition by the German Expressionist, Gabriele Münter. Titled Contours of a World, the show – opening 7 November through to April 2026 – will feature 60 of the artist's luminous, bold, sometimes rapidly-made paintings – from her portraits of friends to landscapes of the German alpine town of Murnau – that chart the changing face of modernism in art. Focusing on 1908 to 1920, it will deep-dive into her involvement with “The Blue Rider” – a group of visionary artists and writers who explored how colour and form could evoke emotion and spiritualist ideas – to the works she made during the First World War. But what started as love quickly unraveled into manipulation, danger, and a criminal empire she never saw coming. What LaTascia didn't know was that the man she fell for was running a major drug operation. And little by little, he pulled her in. First moving money across state lines… then transporting packages… and eventually flying internationally with drugs hidden in luggage. She found herself in way too deep — and on a flight to Europe, everything came crashing down. Arrested. In a foreign country. No support. No way home. In today's episode we're talking with Katie McCormick, an American ex-pat living in Ireland who is choosing home birth to welcome her baby into the world. Katie and her husband Ryan decided to leave their life in Portland, Oregon - quit their jobs and travel across Europe. About a year ago, they decided to settle in Ireland, eloped and got pregnant shortly after.  Katie knew immediately that she wanted to have a home birth. But being an expat in a new country, she had no idea where to begin as far as planning and resources. To use her words from her email to us: “When we got pregnant we were still living in a very temporary living space (think garage remodeled into a loft) on a sheep farm where we were 2 hours from the hospital, and no midwifes were willing to travel to us, so my initial search for beginning the birth plan kept coming up dry until one day through some magical universal energy I found a woman that recommended our midwife to us! However we would have to move 2 hours south to be close enough to be in her “region,” so thank  the stars we just recently have found a home on the southern coast of Ireland and got the “go ahead” from our midwife that we can birth in this house as we are close enough to her….. We are away from all our family, we are still foreigners in a new environment, yet we just know this is divine timing and this is where our child is meant to be born. The house we are living in now is a 150 year old stone cottage, and our landlady said many many babies have been born here; it feels quite kismet. Most people back in the states think we are little crazy/can't believe we are doing this without family around etc, but truly we have never felt more supported than the community of people in our village, and little did I know we moved to an area where most women prefer home birth and have multiple stories to share. It is a small community, but because it is on the ocean, rugged, and so natural in this area, it is like a vortex of very creative and earthy people-it is an energy that makes you feel invincible.” We speak with Katie in the last few weeks of her pregnancy and get to hear how she's feeling as the time in her pregnancy winds down and they prepare for baby's arrival. She also shares the experience of what's it like to have all of their family back in the States as they plan for home birth in their new home and country. On this episode of Destination on the Left, I talk with Chris Mondini, Vice President of Stakeholder Engagement and Managing Director of Europe for ICANN, and Dusty Trevino, CEO of Dot Vegas. We will learn how top-level domains are created and what domains like Dot Vegas can do to help a brand stand out. Our conversation is informative, educational, and will give you a whole new perspective on your brand's Internet address. What You Will Learn in This Episode: How top-level domains (TLDs) are created and why the addressing system of the Internet matters Why distinctive TLDs, like Dot Vegas, offer a strategic advantage for destination branding and marketing What it takes to register your own top-level domain, including the technical, financial, and organizational requirements necessary How geographic domains (such as .vegas, .nyc, and .brussels) can strengthen place identity and foster trust Why cities and entrepreneurs collaborate in launching city-based TLDs, and how community endorsement is essential for successful implementation How adopting new TLDs can make brands more memorable to prospective visitors, and help organizations stand out from the crowd Demystifying Top-Level Domains A memorable web address is more than just a convenience, it's an essential tool for branding, discoverability, and trust. Chris Mondini, Vice President of Stakeholder Engagement and Managing Director of Europe for ICANN, and Dusty Trevino, CEO of Dot Vegas, discuss how TLDs like .vegas, .paris, and .nyc can be invaluable assets for destination marketers, tourism professionals, and place branding experts. Most consider internet domains an afterthought, but as Chris explains, they're the backbone of online connectivity. The Internet isn't a single global network—it's tens of thousands of independently operated networks that agree to connect using common protocols and a shared addressing system. Fifteen years ago, there were only a handful: .com, .net, .org, and so on. Today, there are TLDs for cities (.nyc, .paris), concepts (.guru, .xyz), and more, opening new doors for personalized branding and community-building online. The Dot Vegas Story Dusty offers an inside look into operating Dot Vegas, which shows how a custom domain can amplify a destination's brand. Unlike some city domains, .vegas is globally accessible; anyone can register, regardless of residency. This flexibility enables local businesses, tour operators, and organizations worldwide to associate themselves with the Vegas brand, strengthening their ties to the city's renowned excitement and appeal. Why Top-Level Domains Matter for Marketers A custom TLD isn't just a vanity URL. Operating a TLD means running a piece of internet infrastructure and directly controlling your digital address, data queries, policies, and trust signals. For marketers, there are lots of benefits: Brand Identity: A city or region TLD immediately communicates place and can reinforce local pride. Discoverability: Words like "weddings.vegas" are memorable, making campaigns more effective and easier to recall. Trust & Security: A TLD operated or endorsed by local government or a trusted entity assures users of authenticity—crucial for e-commerce, municipal services, and tourism. Data Insights: TLD operators gain visibility into traffic and usage, supporting more targeted digital strategies. If you see ".yourcity," you can trust you're connecting with the real brand. Top-level domains aren't just technical jargon; they're strategic marketing tools that can transform destination branding, promote community engagement, and build trust with global audiences. The automaker's resilience stems from its increasingly global revenue base and a strong performance outside North America.Despite nearly $3B in quarterly tariff costs, Toyota's bottom line rose thanks to gains in Europe, Africa, and currency advantages.Q2 net profit hit ¥932B (~$6.2B), easily beating analyst estimates of ¥801B (~$5.3B), and revenue rose 8.2% year-over-year to ¥12.4 trillion (~$82.7B).President Trump, speaking to U.S. troops in Japan last week, said Prime Minister Kishida told him Toyota would invest $10B in U.S. manufacturing. “Go out and buy a Toyota,” Trump added.Waymo is accelerating its position as the autonomous driving front-runner, announcing a major expansion into San Diego, Detroit, and Las Vegas. The move adds to an already impressive footprint that includes full-service robotaxi operations in Los Angeles, Phoenix, and the Bay Area.Waymo will begin service in San Diego in 2026, with Detroit and Las Vegas to follow shortly after. The company is emphasizing snow-readiness in Detroit, citing ongoing cold-weather testing in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.Waymo's return to Las Vegas is symbolic—it passed the first-ever state self-driving test in Nevada back in 2012.Waymo continues logging 2 million autonomous miles per week and plans to launch in Miami, Dallas, Washington, and even London by 2026.Retailers are decking the halls earlier than ever, and despite the usual grumbling about “Christmas creep,” most shoppers seem totally fine with it. A new survey reveals that the majority of U.S. consumers don't mind holiday music and décor showing up well before Thanksgiving.Only 20% of consumers think retailers should wait until after Thanksgiving to start the holiday ambiance.A combined 55% are cool with it starting in early to mid-November, while 22% are fine with it as early as October.Mood Media, a company specializing in in-store atmosphere, says holiday scents and music can actually increase shopper “dwell time.”41% of consumers said holiday vibes make them stay longer; only 6% said it makes them leave sooner.0:00 Intro with Paul J Daly and Kyle Mountsier0:30 ASOTU Edge Webinar on AI and Data Today!1:28 Toyota Raises Guidance Amid Tariff Hits3:44 Waymo To Add San Diego, Detroit and Las Vegas6:51 Shoppers Seem TJoin Paul J Daly and Kyle Mountsier every morning for the Automotive State of the Union podcast as they connect the dots across car dealerships, retail trends, emerging tech like AI, and cultural shifts—bringing clarity, speed, and people-first insight to automotive leaders navigating a rapidly changing industry.Get the Daily Push Back email at https://www.asotu.com/ JOIN the conversation on LinkedIn at: https://www.linkedin.com/company/asotu/

This week's "At her Career Crossroads" insight comes from Riya Kurian. She says – "I realized every time I had done something brave or courageous, I really felt a lot of fear. So to me, fear and bravery are the same thing." Here are 3 reasons why you should listen to this episode: You'll hear what it really feels like to walk away from a successful law career to pursue a calling that won't leave you alone — and why that fear might actually be your green light. Riya gets real about the difference between stability and fulfillment, especially for high-achieving women who feel trapped by "the right path." If you've ever been labeled or boxed in — and started to question if those labels were ever really you — Riya's journey will help you see what's possible when you let go of old definitions and trust your intuition. Riya Kurian is the founder of Next Horizon, a boutique travel planning company that creates personalized, meaningful trips across Europe and beyond. Is green hydrogen a ‘miracle fuel' or an expensive illusion? Can we decarbonize without it? And what happens when hydrogen hype meets hard economics? This week on Cleaning Up, Michael Liebreich debates Erik Rakhou, author of Touching Hydrogen Future, in a no-holds-barred discussion moderated by Andrew Critchlow of S&P Global Commodity Insights.Together, they contest one of the most contentious topics in energy today: hydrogen. Liebreich argues that hydrogen is plagued by physics-driven cost barriers and limited real-world applications, while Rakhou defends its potential as a critical tool for industrial decarbonization, energy resilience, and long-term security. From the potential of green vs. blue hydrogen, to global ammonia trade routes, Europe's pipeline ambitions, and China's hydrogen cost curve, this debate pulls no punches. Topics include:Whether there'll ever be a hydrogen-based economyWhy hydrogen economics remain so challengingThe role of carbon pricing vs. subsidiese-Fuels and hydrogen's place in transport, steel, and aviationWhy electrification trumps hydrogenThis episode was recorded at the S&P Global offices in London and originally broadcast as a S&P Global webinar on October 29, 2025. In all my years of experience in energy, I rarely worked in pure regulatory areas, but regulations loomed large over everything I touched. The energy sector is very highly regulated, and for very good reasons. From environmental standards to carbon pricing, energy companies are held to a high standard and must demonstrate that compliance to operate locally, regionally, and globally. The regulatory landscape is highly dynamic and under constant change. New regulatory frameworks emerging from Europe and the United States will reshape how energy companies, particularly in North America, do business domestically, and abroad. Three new frameworks—the European Union's Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) and Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), as well as the U.S. Inflation Reduction Act (IRA)—will impact North American energy companies that export to Europe. If you're an energy executive working in exportable energy, such as LNG, oil, methanol, hydrogen, or refined petroleum, you might find this post of interest. These regulations will affect operations, compliance strategy, and ultimately, financial results. Fortunately, there are digital solutions at the ready that meet both today's regulatory demands while future-proofing your business for tomorrow's more stringent requirements. ⚒️ Additional Tools & Resources:

In this video, I share my personal experience with low-dose radiation therapy for osteoarthritis and inflammatory knee pain — a treatment with a long history in Europe that's now being re-examined in the U.S. as a safe, evidence-based option for chronic orthopedic pain. Low-dose radiation therapy (LDRT) involves the use of very small, precisely targeted doses of radiation — typically one-tenth or less of what's used in cancer treatment — to reduce inflammation and modulate immune response in joints, tendons, and soft tissues. Research has shown that these low doses can help relieve pain and improve mobility, often providing durable results without the side effects of steroids or long-term medications. I'm joined by Dr. Sanjay Mehta, Radiation Oncologist at St. Joseph Cancer Center in Houston, to discuss the science behind this therapy, its mechanisms of action, and the clinical outcomes we're seeing today for conditions such as: • Osteoarthritis • inflammatory knee pain • Plantar fasciitis • Tennis elbow • Shoulder and joint pain You'll also see a glimpse of my own treatment session, as we explore how this “old yet new” approach is helping patients regain comfort, function, and quality of life — without medications or surgery. He shares his career journey spanning over 20 years at Microsoft, from running Europe to leading Greater China, building Asia's geographical operations in Singapore, and eventually taking on global SME strategy. Ralph explains that Microsoft's unique advantage lies in being a platform company at its finest, offering a complete technology stack from productivity to infrastructure, security, and applications—all with core AI integration—while relying on a specialized partner ecosystem to deliver local expertise and support. He highlights how partners are creating entirely new business models on agentic AI while emphasizing the four critical partnership moments from transaction to ongoing support that most companies neglect. Closing the conversation, Ralph shares what great looks like for Microsoft. “The partner program for us is a place where we want to have expertise for our customers. The only way to make that happen is to standardize on portfolio and standardize on offering. If you don't provide standardized offers — if the experience in Word, for example, is different in one country than in another — you can't build an ecosystem that helps partners scale with expertise. I call that a platform company at its finest. We have the full assortment — from the productivity world to infrastructure, security, and applications. Topics Discussed: Evolution from news publisher focus to entertainment and SaaS ecosystem strategy Consolidating auth and payment infrastructure into a single category Case study metrics: 20% uplift in paying users with under 1% subscription cannibalization The 2.5x lead generation improvement versus traditional subscription models Building market-specific ecosystems as a B2B2C go-to-market strategy DACH penetration strategy before US expansion Achieving organic exposure through customer website placement Reducing integration complexity to drive adoption in an emerging category GTM Lessons For B2B Founders: Geographic density creates B2B2C flywheels: tiun's go-to-market prioritizes ecosystem density within a single market over broad geographic distribution. Users discover tiun on one platform, then encounter it across 3-4 additional properties in their consumption pattern, creating recognition and repeat usage. This required penetrating DACH (100 million people, single language, unified regulations) before considering US expansion. For B2B2C products where end-user familiarity drives business adoption, concentrate on saturating one market until the consumer-side network effect reduces enterprise sales friction. Validate with 6-12 month pilot data before scaling: tiun ran contained pilots with 3-4 customers for a full year before pursuing their long-tail market. This produced case studies showing 20% paying user uplift and under 1% cannibalization—metrics that directly addressed the primary objection (subscription revenue risk). Sandro notes this extended validation period became essential because "there is no market for it yet. We're creating the market." When creating a new category, resist scaling pressure until you have multi-month data that quantifies business outcomes and neutralizes the biggest adoption barriers. Strategic revenue trade-offs accelerate ecosystem development: tiun deliberately adjusted pricing to "pay out more to our businesses to grow a bit faster"—prioritizing transaction volume and ecosystem density over near-term take rate. This economics decision reflected that their value proposition strengthens with ecosystem scale: users need to encounter tiun across multiple properties for the solution to deliver its full promise. When building network effects or marketplace dynamics, model whether lower monetization drives the velocity needed to reach critical mass faster than optimizing for immediate margins. Integration speed directly determines category creation velocity: Sandro identified that "if the sales cycle is too long and integration is too complicated, people won't do it. Especially since it's a product that doesn't exist and there is no market for it yet." They focused on reducing implementation to 2-3 weeks, recognizing that asking companies to replace existing auth and payment infrastructure requires minimal switching costs. For emerging categories where customers must displace incumbent solutions, integration complexity often determines adoption more than feature superiority. Build investor relationships 12+ months before raises: Sandro emphasizes starting fundraising conversations well before needing capital: "If you decide, oh, I need to fundraise right now, then you will automatically get into a cash crunch. Because by the time you have established all the relationships, it just takes such a long time that you run out of money where it really hurts your negotiation power." Treat investor relationship development as continuous rather than transactional—similar to enterprise pipeline development where deals close from relationships built quarters earlier. //   Sponsors: Front Lines — We help B2B tech companies launch, manage, and grow podcasts that drive demand, awareness, and thought leadership. www.FrontLines.io The Global Talent Co. — We help tech startups find, vet, hire, pay, and retain amazing marketing talent that costs 50-70% less than the US & Europe. www.GlobalTalent.co // Don't Miss: New Podcast Series — How I Hire Senior GTM leaders share the tactical hiring frameworks they use to build winning revenue teams.
