In some of Hollywood's best-loved movies, Jack Nicholson played jokers, sailors, inmates – even the Devil himself. But he never played by the rules. He allegedly mooned a crowd of thousands at a basketball game. His bedroom kinks were laid bare in the papers. He fought the MPAA and the LAPD. And in 1994, he attempted to establish his own set of rules when he attacked an idling Mercedes-Benz with a two-iron.

#MenschMahler - Die Podcast Kolumne - podcast eins GmbH

Hosted on Acast. When Technological Innovation Meets Human-Centered Experience   Shep interviews Joseph A. Michelli, professor of Service Excellence, speaker, organizational consultant, and best-selling author. He talks about his new book, All Business Is Personal, and how companies can blend technology with humanity to create personal connections and improve customer experiences. The case study Michelli uses throughout the book is One Medical, a perfect example of how to achieve the balance between technology and the human-to-human connections you want to make with your customers.   This episode of Amazing Business Radio with Shep Hyken answers the following questions and more:    What are the benefits of combining technology with personal interaction in customer service?  What role does listening play in improving the customer experience?  How important is it for businesses to include digital and human touchpoints in customer interactions?  How does a seamless digital experience impact customer satisfaction and loyalty?  Why is emotional connection important in business?    Top Takeaways:    Technology, like apps and AI, makes life convenient for customers by allowing easy online scheduling or instant answers through chatbots. However, it is still the human connection that builds lasting relationships. The best businesses use tech to make things faster and simpler but always offer a human backup for when a customer needs a personal touch.  So many businesses continue to operate the same way because "that's how it's always been done." It is important to constantly ask why things are done a certain way and whether there's a better, more modern, or easier approach for customers.   Delivering a great customer experience is not just about satisfying customer needs. It's the best marketing a company can have.   People remember how you made them feel long after the transaction is over. Creating an emotional connection with your customers can transform a routine interaction into a memorable experience. Creating positive emotions through empathy, excitement, or delight builds loyalty and motivates customers to refer you to others.  Use Net Promoter Score as a guideline, not a vanity metric. While a high Net Promoter Score (NPS) can indicate customer satisfaction, the actual behavior of customers and the genuine referrals they make is what counts.   Train your employees to listen to what customers say, not just hear their words. Many businesses train their staff to communicate, but few teach them to listen deeply and with empathy. Listening well helps you understand how your product and services impact the customer's life and what it means to them.  Wow moments are not always over-the-top experiences. Going slightly beyond what's expected can create a big impact on customers. Small gestures such as remembering a customer's name or a personal preference can elevate a service experience from just fine to amazing.  Plus, Joseph shares how One Medical transformed healthcare by blending technology with personal service, creating a more convenient and customer-focused experience. Tune in!  Quote:   "There's a difference between personalization and a personal connection.”    About:    Joseph Michelli is a speaker and consultant renowned for his customer experience and leadership expertise. He has worked with global brands like  Starbucks, Mercedes-Benz, and The Ritz-Carlton Hotel. His latest book, All Business Is Personal: One Medical's Human-Centered, Technology-Powered Approach to Customer Engagement, is now available on Amazon.     Shep Hyken is a customer service and experience expert, New York Times bestselling author, award-winning keynote speaker, and host of Amazing Business Radio.  Learn more about your ad choices. The Rolex Effect: Why Higher Prices Build Perceived Value Hi Everyone, Carl Gould here, your #70secondCEO, just over a minute of investment per day for a lifetime of results. We're talking about increasing your fees. Now wouldn't that be nice? Just take your prices and charge more? And you'll just make more money. Isn't that great? Well, you know what, it's actually necessary. We have been talking about not just being another penguin, about standing above, about being an expert, about differentiating yourself. Wel,l guess what? People judge your quality based on your fees. Think about it, I asked you the question, what's a better watch? A Timex or a Rolex? And some of you are like, “Timex, do they even make them anymore?” Like pretending you don't know. And then when I said, How about a Rolex? You all knew what that cost, “oh, $5000 well it depends on which one you get. How much are we blinging this one out Carl?” Now you can spend 15 or above. You all knew what the Rolex cost. But none of you could figure out what the Timex would cost. Right, because we are sold on brands that are higher in price. Apple, Mercedes Benz, Jaguar, Tiffany's, you know, Rolex, and other high-end brands. What makes them high end? How do you know they're as good as they claim? The reality is you don't! The way that you judge quality is based on their price.  Like and follow this podcast so you can learn more. My name is Carl Gould and this has been your #70secondCEO.

This weeks show starts off with Benjamins sharp witted review of the 2025 Mercedes-Benz G550. A high-end SUV with humble beginnings and limited generational changes, this time around it's got a whole new motor, design and high class interior, one so fancy that Benjamin had to take extra precautions when hauling stuff around. What does the G-Class mean these days? Is it something to be celebrated or shunned for being too excessive? Then the guys take some time to talk about the 2025 Land Rover Range Rover Autobiography, a seven-seat ode to royal British motoring. Outfitted with the right equipment for towing, hauling, and ferrying passengers around, Benjamin explains how the experience in this SUV was totally different than the Benz, even though the two vehicles share similar price points.

Automotive artistry takes center stage as we visit Georgia's Savoy Auto Museum with curator Mary Agrusa. Unlike typical car museums focusing solely on mechanics, the Savoy presents vehicles as cultural artifacts for artistic appreciation, complete with historical storytelling.Mary reveals how Cartersville has become Georgia's "museum city" with four major institutions. The Savoy Museum itself features display techniques allowing 360-degree viewing with lighting that showcases each vehicle's design elegance. The museum's approach to interpretation, where each car's technical specs mix with historical significance, and often surprising backstories—like the unrestored 1925 Model T purchased under the strict condition it would never be restored, preserving its authentic century-old character. The Savoy connects with its community, including partnerships with local schools to encourage students to participate in prestigious events like the Great Race, fostering a new generation of automotive enthusiasts. Whether you're planning a road trip through the Southeast or seeking a destination with multiple attractions, Cartersville's museum quarter offers something for everyone. The second half of our show features a review of the 2025 Lincoln Nautilus, with its revolutionary door-to-door digital display and luxury exterior styling. Y a mí me afectó… y mucho.

Thought For Today

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 30th of April, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of Luke 5:16: “So He Himself often withdrew into the wilderness and prayed.” Who am I talking about here? I am talking about the Son of God, I am talking about Jesus Christ, I am talking about Immanuel - God with us. Now, if He had to do that, how much more should you and I be doing that? He did it often, not now and again. Oh my dear friend, I think this message is aimed more at me than it is at you! Contemplation - when you contemplate something. I looked up the Oxford Dictionary to find out the literal meaning of the word, “contemplate”. It means to look at thoughtfully, to think about, to think deeply and at length. It says that to contemplate is to look at, gaze at, stare at, view, regard, examine, inspect, observe, (are you getting the story?) survey, study. He contemplated. We need to ponder, you and I, how many times are we taking time out to think about the way forward? We don't, do we? We just go for it, we wing it. It is one of my favourite things and I hate myself for it. There is no time left in the world to wing it. We need to concentrate on something called time management. Remember Jesus was never late, He was never early, He was always spot on time. We think about Lazarus, His friend in the grave. “Lord, if You had come, my brother would have lived,” but the Lord commanded him to be raised from the dead. You know, it is first the mountain, and then the ministry, or your work or whatever else. If you don't spend time up the mountain, not a literal mountain, but time in the morning, praying, reading the word of God, and contemplating about what you are going to do that day, you will make some very poor decisions. Now, let us start to think.I remember, very clearly, sitting at the banks of the mighty Zambezi River, which separates Zambia from Zimbabwe, about to go across that river on a pontoon with that 20-ton Mercedes Benz truck for six weeks, leaving my young wife and children back on the farm. I was contemplating things very seriously, crying out to God to protect my family and He did. We need to hear from God first before we make any decisions. Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.

See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The rumble of engines and scent of coffee fills the air as we broadcast live from Spindletap Brewery for the fourth annual Hot Rod Tour of Texas. This event has grown from humble beginnings to become a must-attend gathering for automotive enthusiasts across the Lone Star State. Our special feature takes you behind the scenes in Victoria, Texas, where we chat with Street Manager Kate Garcia about the town's remarkable transformation. Once merely a pass-through on the way to Corpus Christi, Victoria has reinvented itself as a destination worth exploring. The historic De Leon Plaza now hosts over 800 events annually, including the unique pairing of hot rods and symphony music that kicks off this tour. "Two demographics you would never think would go together go together like peanut butter and jelly," Garcia explains as classic cars and classical music create an unexpectedly perfect harmony. We dive deep into the 2025 Genesis GV80 Coupe, a luxury vehicle that challenges traditional definitions. Despite having four doors, this fastback SUV carries the "coupe" designation, sparking debate among automotive purists. With 375 horsepower from its twin-turbo 3.5-liter engine and a price tag of $87,780, we explore whether this Korean luxury offering can compete with established European rivals like Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Porsche. Our "Motor Minute" reveals fascinating statistics about Texas' booming auto restoration industry – 1,207 shops statewide with Houston alone hosting 247 restoration specialists. We discuss how many of these businesses began as passion projects by individual enthusiasts before growing into established operations, reflecting the enduring love affair between Texans and their vehicles.Whether you're a hot rod enthusiast, luxury car shopper, or simply appreciate the coming together of diverse communities through shared passions, this episode captures the spirit of Texas car culture. Key Takeaways Focus on what a video will DO for a client, not just how it will LOOK - clients care about results and problems solved, not your gear Create multiple assets from a single project to meet different client needs - the two-minute anthem video AND the 30-second hard-selling cutdown The right kind of "free work" early in your career can be strategic marketing that leads to huge opportunities later Finding mentors and community is essential for growth and sustainability in this industry About Michael Del Monte Michael Del Monte is a Canadian documentary filmmaker known for telling stories of overlooked individuals. The 2025 Lucid Gravity marks a major step for Lucid Motors as it enters the hotly competitive luxury electric SUV market. With a bold aerodynamic design, three-row practicality, and up to 828 horsepower, the Gravity aims to combine performance and family-friendly utility in a premium package. By doing so, it seeks to upset the luxury SUV applecart as it rockets to the top of the pack. This past week, host Jack Nerad was one of a select few journalists to drive and road test the Gravity for the first time. During his stint behind the wheel, he sampled the Gravity's dynamic split personality. At once, it is a highly competent performance vehicle and a fully utilitarian SUV that can tow, haul and convey seven adults at a rate few are accustomed to. Powered by dual motors producing up to 828 horsepower and 909 lb-ft of torque, the Gravity can accelerate to 60 mph in a claimed 3.4 seconds. Its air suspension, rear-wheel steering, and adjustable ride height make it a surprisingly agile and adaptable vehicle, particularly given its 6,048-pound curb weight, while a Terrain Mode and 6,000-pound towing capacity further expand its versatility. But is it a vehicle you'd want to live with day-to-day, given the elevated level of several of its rivals? Nerad will offer his views. In our other road test, co-host Chris Teague takes one of the nation's most popular plug-in hybrid vehicles through its paces as winter turns to spring in Maine. As unlikely as it might seem, the Jeep Wrangler 4xe is among the best sellers among the much-misunderstood roster of PHEVs. Its credentials are strong, but, again, is it a wise choice given its premium price over other Wranglers? Teague and Nerad will weigh in. When it comes to family vehicles, the Hyundai Palisade has gained a reputation as a thinking person's choice. Now, Hyundai has just introduced the all-new 2026 version, and Nerad went behind the scenes for an exclusive interview with Hyundai Product Planning Manager Melvyn Bautista to take a deep dive into the vehicle. It is both Easter week and New York Auto Show week, so we have a lot of news from each. Easter in Moab, Utah, is one of the biggest off-road gatherings of the year, and Jeep and Ford are there showing off concept vehicles. We have the details. Several new models have been introduced in and around the New York show, and we'll tell you about cool vehicles from Kia, Toyota, Mercedes-Benz and Audi in this episode. Used car buyers might be in for a price shock in the next few weeks, and it has nothing to do with tariffs. We'll tell you more and, of course, we'll have the latest auto tariff news for you too. Creating Work Environments Where Employees Thrive: Insights from Eric Stone

Breakfast Leadership

Creating Thriving Work Environments Eric and I dove into the essentials of workplace culture, a topic central to our careers. Eric shared his journey from a childhood fascination with business to leading large teams at Enterprise Rent-a-Car. His book on company culture and high performance has become a key resource for his speaking and consulting work. We explored what it takes to create work environments where employees don't just survive—they thrive. It all starts with strong relationships, clear communication, and understanding the diverse needs of a multigenerational workforce. Setting clear expectations is critical, especially in today's workplace, where retention is a growing challenge. When organizations prioritize culture and communication, they see stronger engagement and long-term success. Effective Communication and Planning for Success Our discussion also highlighted the role of communication and strategic planning in driving results. I shared a case from my time at Mercedes-Benz, where we implemented an asset-tracking system to streamline operations. The key takeaway? Getting things right the first time prevents unnecessary work and improves efficiency. Eric echoed this with his experience launching a content initiative for sales, emphasizing the importance of a steady, intentional approach to culture-building. We also tackled a critical hiring insight—focusing on a candidate's match rather than just their fit within an organization. Engaged employees who align with company values will consistently outperform those who check the right boxes. His book profoundly covers these themes, offering practical strategies for building high-performing teams. Hiring for Potential and Career Growth One story that stood out was hiring a receptionist without prior healthcare experience. Over time, she thrived, earned a promotion, and eventually ran a clinic. It reinforced the idea that hiring should be about potential rather than just experience. Eric and I agreed that asking the right questions during hiring is essential in identifying high-potential candidates. Too often, employers focus on filling a position quickly rather than considering a candidate's long-term career trajectory. Investing in people's growth benefits both the individual and the organization. Connecting Beyond the Conversation We wrapped up by discussing ways to keep the conversation going and share the episode when it's live. If you're interested in Eric's work, you can find him on LinkedIn or at ClearPathVentures.com, where he offers speaking and coaching on leadership and company culture. ERIC D. Stone's passion for business led him to an influential twenty-six-year career at the iconic rental car company Enterprise Holdings, where he quickly became one of the most decorated Regional Vice Presidents in the company's history. His ability to connect and motivate employees from all different generations and demographics allowed his teams to sustain top-level results and a culture of pride. Eric attributes much of his success to his ability to create, ignite, and sustain a high-performance culture—one that enabled him to lead his teams through challenges like 9/11, the Great Recession, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the Great Resignation—along with an extraordinary ability to adapt to the unexpected and help others do the same. Eric is the author of the award-winning book Jumpstart Your Workplace Culture and an international speaker on leadership, employee engagement, and creating high-performance organizations. He retired from Enterprise in 2018 and founded Clear Path Ventures, which specializes in guiding young professionals and businesses as they navigate their path to success. A podcast to answer all your questions about productivity, time management, self-development and goal planning. My name is Carl Pullein, and I am your host of this show. I work a lot with managers and business leaders, where a part of their job is to manage teams of people. This kind of work can be quite different from a self-employed graphic designer, for example, whose main work each day is designing.  There's an interesting interplay going on in a team environment. Managers need information from their people. To get that information, they need to stop their team from doing their work. Then there is the team who need less distraction in order to get their work done to the highest quality and on time.  In my experience, the most productive teams are the ones who have found a happy balance between the manager's need for information and the team's need to work undisturbed.  So, the question is, how do you find that balance and if you are a member of a team with a boss who is interrupting you a little too much how do you retrain your boss?  Two questions from one wonderful listener who has sent in a question. And with that, let me hand you over to the Mystery Podcast voice for this week's question.  This week's question comes from Sam. Sam asks, hi Carl, do you have any tips and ideas for managing a team productively (I manage a team of eight) and how to manage a boss who is disorganised and never remembers what she's asked us to do. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Hi Sam, thank you for your question. It sounds like you're caught in the middle of a productivity nightmare. A boss who has no idea how to get the most out of their team and as a consequence you are unable to help your team work productively. Let's start with the easier of the two. Managing a team.  To help you get to the right place, we need to step back a little. A manager's role is to support their team. To provide them with clear instructions and the right tools, and then to keep out of the way and let them get on and do what they were employed to do.  At a strategic level that means clear communication—what do you want, how do you want it and when do you want it delivered?  And then to step back and let them get on and do it.  Let me give you an example of this in play.  I record my YouTube videos on a Wednesday. I then create the timeline of the video in Adobe Premiere Pro and send everything to my video editor to do the animations, clean things up and get it ready for publication.  In a Google Doc, I write out what I want—where I want split screen effects and other animations. I also add the date I need the finished video for.  That's communication part.  I then step back and let my video editor get on and do her thing. I don't care how she does the animations or what tools she uses—she likes to use something called CapCut, for example. Once I hand it over to my video editor, the task is in her hands and as long as she gets the edited video back to me by the deadline. I'm happy.  If she has any questions, we use a messaging service called Twist—similar to Microsoft Teams and Slack but a lot less distracting—she will message me.  And that's the support part.  It's simple, effective and allows my video editor the time and space to get on and do the work without me constantly chasing her.  Now there is another element going on here. I trust my video editor. She's never let me down and on those rare occasions when she thinks she will be late, she will message me immediately and inform me.  If you don't trust your team, who's at fault?  If you want to build a productive team, you must trust your team. It's that trust that enables you to leave your team alone to get on and do the work you employ them to do. Constantly interrupting them for updates destroys their productivity.  It's the same if you ask them to fill out activity reports and update statuses on complex software systems.  I've worked with companies that required their sales teams to maintain a Salesforce CRM system. This meant many of them stop selling on Friday afternoons to update these complex systems which often took them two or three hours.  When I was in sales, I found the best time to sell was Friday afternoons. People are more willing to close out a sale before the end of the week. Yet, in that company, they were missing out on so much business because management wanted their sales teams to update overly complex information management systems.  Every person you work with is a different person. Trying to shoehorn people into your system can be counterproductive to the overall productivity of the team.  As a manager, it's your responsibility to find out the best way to support you team members so they can work in the most effective and efficient way. That way you avoid stress building up in the team which will undermine any efforts to improve the team's productivity.  I recently heard Toto Wolf—the CEO and Team Principal of Mercedes Benz's Formula 1 team talking about how he manages his team. He implemented a policy of no meetings before 10:00 am.  What this does is allows all people to have at least an hour of undisturbed quiet time each day for doing important work.  Now, he's the leader—the CEO—yet he understands that the managers reporting to him still need time to do their work before spending most of their days in meetings.  I like another leader from the Formula 1's world, Red Bull's Christian Horner's approach. He doesn't have an engineering degree or understand the complexities of aerodynamics. He has a team of people who are brilliant at that stuff.  He sees his roll as the barrier remover. While he's the boss, and needs to know what's going on, he knows he must protect his team from the board of directors' demands and if any department requires something, it's his job to find a way to provide it for them.  Productive teams are built from the top. That means the manager must communicate clearly what they want, how they want it and by when. Then step back and let the team get on and do the work.  I remember another company I once worked for. The director was a highly intelligent person in her field. Yet, she had somehow developed a managerial arrogance where she believed she did not need to learn how to use the company's database because her project managers could tell her what she needed to know when she needed to know something.  This led to her project managers dropping everything to find the information she wanted whenever she asked for it. It created a horrible atmosphere in the company and the team was very unproductive.  She would hold five hour team meetings every Friday, where everyone was expected to attend. This further undermined the teams productivity and they were often late in completing projects which meant project managers had to work late and into the weekend to catch up.  This director's staff turnover rate was the highest in the company, worldwide, and it was all created by this one individual who did nothing to support her team.  The solution was to go back to the basics. Communicate what you want, clearly and concisely—you don't need weekly five hour meetings to do that—and then to step back and let your team get on and do their work. The work they were employed to do.  Never, as a manager, believe that your team is there to support you. It's not. You are there to support them.  Now, if you are not the manager but have a manager who is destroying your productivity what can you do?  This goes to managing expectations.  It's very easy to fall into line and say yes to your boss whenever they ask you to do something. Yet, doing so is distorting expectations. Saying “yes I will get this task done today as you ask, boss,” will do nothing for your productivity if on the same day you have six hours of meetings and a proposal to get out before 4:30 pm.  You have to stand your ground and inform your boss of your schedule for the day and explain that you will not be able to do it today.  I understand, if you have always said yes to your boss, doing this will be difficult at first, but how will you change anything if you do not challenge your boss's instructions when you already know what they are asking you to do will be practically impossible?  In effect you need to retrain your boss and set more realistic expectations.  One tip I often share is to challenge deadlines. If your boss asks you to send them something, reply and tell them you will get it to them by the end of the week (or early next week).  The worst thing that will happen is your boss will push back and tell you they need it right now. That's great because they've saved you a decision. You need to do it right now. So do it.  However, in the majority of cases, your boss will accept your timeline. They're busy too, after all.  However, the critical part of this is you follow through and deliver what they asked for when you said you will do it. If you don't, you lose trust. You want your boss to trust you. And if, for whatever reason, you find you cannot do what you said you would do, when you said you would do it, you must inform them as soon as you know—something my video editor will do.  And incidentally, you should be doing this with your customers and clients too. This can be another area where some preconceived ideas about customers and clients can lead to productivity issues.  Be clear when you are communicating with your customers and clients. Set realistic expectations—and telling them that you will always be available if they ever need you is not a realistic expectation. What happens if you're giving birth when they call (as happened to one of my clients), or you're in a meeting with another client?  Tell your customers how best to get in touch with you and that if you cannot respond immediately you will get back to them as soon as you can.  I hope that has helped, Sam. Thank you for your question and thank you for listening.  It just remains for me now to wish you all a very very productive week.

These firms have been key drivers of market performance in recent years due to their size, influence, and heavy weighting in indices like the Nasdaq. Bessent suggests that the selloff is primarily driven by issues specific to these tech giants, such as overvaluation, slowing earnings growth, or sector-specific pressures (e.g., competition in AI or shifts in investor sentiment), rather than broader economic or political factors. "Not a MAGA problem": "MAGA" stands for "Make America Great Again," a slogan associated with President Donald Trump and his policy agenda, particularly following his re-election in November 2024. Policies tied to MAGA, like steep tariffs or deregulation, have been speculated to impact markets. Bessent, as Treasury Secretary in Trump's administration, is arguing that the selloff isn't a result of these Trump-related policies but rather stems from the dynamics affecting the Mag7 stocks. Volkswagen will add import fees to vehicle prices, while Volvo and Mercedes-Benz are considering expanding U.S. manufacturing to avoid the 25% duties, according to Bloomberg. Mercedes may move production of a model to Alabama to offset tariffs and is weighing pulling its cheaper cars from the U.S. after a 58% sales jump in its top-selling import, the GLC SUV. Germany's economy minister backed EU talks with the U.S. but warned of a “clear and decisive response” if no deal is reached, calling the tariffs a risk to global stability. Volkswagen, which builds cars in Tennessee, still imports key models from Europe and Mexico. The U.S. now makes up 20% of its revenue, helped by a 7% sales boost in 2024. BMW imports 60% of its U.S. sales and depends on European parts for its South Carolina plant. Mercedes' Alabama factory faces similar supply chain exposure. Volvo plans to expand U.S. production,
