Gary Holldman is a producer and DJ who has been on the scene for over 15 years. He made his debut in 2009 at one of the legendary Tresor Night - events at the now-defunct Eskulap club in Poznań. A year later, his first vinyl records were released on the German labels RELAX2000 and Ware Records. In 2015, together with a friend, they founded International Day Off, a thriving label (collaborating with both leading Polish producers and renowned international artists) which specialises in soundscapes at the intersection of minimal and hypnotic techno. Since 2017, he has been releasing music regularly on the International Day Off catalogue and other labels. His music has been featured and reviewed by Mixmag, Groove Magazine, XLR8R and Decode Magazine, and thanks to its diversity, his tracks have gained support and found their way into the sets of artists such as Sven Väth, Laurent Garnier, DVS1, Ben Klock and Marcel Dettmann. In 2024, he began a collaboration with the Italian brand Davines, where he is responsible for creating original music for their shows. The musical style of his compositions ranges from ambient, eclectic sounds, undergoing a smooth transformation into groove-filled, technical sounds. His DJ-sets consist of a dense, hypnotic selection of minimalist techno, drawing heavily on influences from the roots of Detroit and Birmingham. Almost a third of all the food available to us is thrown away. In Hong Kong alone, 3,300 tonnes go to landfill every single day, nearly a third of everything the city bins. And most of it is perfectly good. Shops list what they haven't sold as a "surprise bag" at 50 to 70% off, you reserve it in the app, and collect it in the last hour before closing. The merchant recovers money on food that was heading for the bin, pays nothing to join, and Yindii only earns a commission when a bag actually sells. In the early 2000s, while serving in an official capacity as the UK's Trade Envoy, Prince Andrew travelled to Thailand for what was publicly described as a diplomatic mission. According to historian Andrew Lownie, the visit included a stay in a five-star Bangkok hotel rather than at the British embassy, and during what was designated “private time” in the official itinerary he is alleged to have had up to 40 sex workers brought to his hotel suite over a four-day span.The allegations further claim that taxpayer funds were used to cover that trip, and that diplomatic and royal staff helped facilitate the hotel booking and stay. If true, this incident raises serious ethical questions about the use of public office for personal indulgence, the accountability of royals on trade missions, and the lack of transparency in the files covering Andrew's envoy years (2001-2011).During the early 2000s, Prince Andrew is reported to have visited Jeffrey Epstein's New Mexico ranch — identified as Zorro Ranch, near Santa Fe — which has become notorious in civil suits and media scrutiny for alleged sex-trafficking and under-age abuse claims. The allegations in court documents and depositions assert that Epstein used the ranch for illicit activity, including recruiting minors for so-called “massages” and transporting guests to the property via private landing strip. Most people don't find, or indeed create, the time from busy life to fulfil big travel dreams. But Simon Callender is not your average guy. He is an adventurer by heart. After 15 years he returned to the Silk Road and beyond, this time to go the ‘other way' as he joined the 3 month motorcycling expedition from Bangkok to the UK. The expedition, called Globebusters headed up by Guinness World Record Holders for global motorcycle travel, Kevin and Julia Sanders, finished this July at the fitting National Motor Museum in Beaulieu.This isn't just a tale of cities, countries and dirt roads. It's a conversation about cultures, change and what we learn about ourselves when we step off the well-beaten track. Simon crosses borders between ‘stans', that you have to get a map out for, battling treacherous roads of the Gobi Desert to Turkey's infamous Stone Road. To get these new experiences and I think the risk is that you see it as a tick list and I've been consciously conscious not to do that. It's been more what have I learnt from this? What have I learnt from other people? And a long time travelling across India and Asia gives you all these perspectives and other places as well.With ‘Chatty Luggage', aka his wife Martina, at times on the back of the bike, Simon, shares the stories of solo and partner riding, and the dynamics of being together with a group of guys for 3 months. When it comes to conservation, adorable and majestic animals often attract the most concern for their plight. It's not so easy to get the public's attention when it comes to animals that are perceived as weird or creepy or downright unpleasant. The vulture, traditionally associated with death and carrion, falls into this unlucky group. Globally, around 70% of vultures are now under threat of extinction and Nigeria's vultures are no exception. BBC West Africa journalist Makuochi Okafor has been investigating this story.  In Vietnam, The Last Empress, a new film inspired by the life of the final empress of the Nguyen Dynasty, appears to be provoking a strong reaction. Nam Phuong is a well-known historical figure in Vietnam, who along with her husband, Bao Dai, she was also seen as a puppet of the French colonial regime. Since the release of the trailer for The Last Empress, this long debate in Vietnam has bubbled back to life. Duc Ha from the BBC's Bangkok bureau has been exploring the human story behind all the politics and controversy. In a private party in a Russian town, Katya was about to blow out the candles on her 30th birthday cake when masked men burst into the nightclub that she had hired and began physically and verbally attacking her friends. Nội dung trọng tâm của chuyến thăm là thúc đẩy hợp tác giải quyết các thách thức xuyên biên giới cấp bách, bao gồm an ninh biên giới, phòng chống tội phạm xuyên quốc gia...Phát biểu ngày 22/7, Thủ tướng kiêm Bộ trưởng Nội vụ Thái Lan Anutin Charnvirakul cho biết chương trình nghị sự của chuyến thăm không chỉ dừng ở các nghi thức ngoại giao, mà sẽ tập trung thảo luận và thống nhất các biện pháp hợp tác cụ thể, mang lại lợi ích thiết thực cho cả hai nước.Thủ tướng Anutin nhấn mạnh một trong những trọng tâm là tìm kiếm giải pháp ngăn chặn và khắc phục tình trạng ô nhiễm tại sông Kok - đây là một phụ lưu của sông Mekong, bắt nguồn từ bang Shan của Myanmar, đi vào miền Bắc Thái Lan qua tỉnh Chiang Mai, sau đó chảy qua tỉnh Chiang Rai và đổ vào sông Mekong.Chính phủ Thái Lan hiện đang theo dõi chặt chẽ tình trạng ô nhiễm trên sông Kok, đặc biệt là nguy cơ nhiễm thạch tín (asen) và kim loại nặng, được cho là liên quan đến hoạt động khai khoáng từ phía Myanmar. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark and Adam McManus Vietnamese Communists have falsely charged 119 Christians Communist authorities in central Vietnam have charged 119 Christians so far this year. Officials accuse the believers of being involved in organizations that support autonomy for ethnic minority groups. Mervyn Thomas with Christian Solidarity Worldwide noted, “Vietnam is increasingly becoming one of the most repressive states when it comes to persecuting and prosecuting religious groups.” Psalm 53:4 asks, “Have the workers of iniquity no knowledge, who eat up My people as they eat bread, and do not call upon God?” Scottish authorities fired pro-life teacher Pro-lifers are petitioning authorities in Scotland to protect religious liberty. A Scottish high school fired a Catholic teacher last year for saying she opposed abortion. Sarah Morse said, “To be 'cancelled' and lose my livelihood because of my religious identity is a terrifying precedent for the teaching profession in Scotland.” The Society for the Protection of Unborn Children started a petition to support Morse last week. The petition has garnered nearly 20,000 signatures already. He is the country's seventh prime minister in a decade. He is also a self-identified socialist.  During his first speech as prime minister, Burnham criticized the free-market strategies of the late Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in the 1980s. He called for a new economic model of stronger government control.  Listen. BURNHAM: “We will take power out of here and carry it into every postcode in the land, so that they can do more. We're certainly not going to allow communist efforts to undermine American society and drive wedges into our country. “One of the leading culprits of that, for many years, the intellectual authors, particularly in our hemisphere, is the Cuban regime, which our report on Monday outlined. U.S. imposed 25% tariff on Brazilian imports The U.S. imposed a 25 percent tariff on most imports from Brazil yesterday.  The Trump administration accused Brazil of unfair trade practices and failing to negotiate. The tariff will affect about 18 to 26 percent of the country's exports to the U.S. Brazilian President Lula da Silva is a left-wing leader. Secretary of State Marco Rubio wrote on X, “President Lula and his government have not negotiated with the U.S. in good faith. His economic policies are bad for Americans and bad for Brazilians.” No more U.S. aid to Nigeria over persecution of Christians The U.S. House of Representatives passed a measure last week to withhold aid from Nigeria over the persecution of Christians there.  The provision is part of the “Fiscal Year 2027 National Security, Department of State, and Related Programs Appropriations Act.” The measure now awaits approval in the Senate.  Republican Congressman Greg Steube of Florida wrote on X, “My amendment to withhold 100% of U.S. aid to Nigeria until its government stops the slaughter of Christians has PASSED. American taxpayers should NEVER bankroll governments that turn a blind eye while Christians are abducted, tortured, and murdered. No more wasteful foreign aid!” Nigeria has become the epicenter of Christian martyrdom in the world. In the initial 96 days of 2026, from January 1 to April 6, Muslims killed 1,402 Nigerian Christians. It's the latest repatriation effort by the U.S.'s premier art museum, and the third time the Met has had to give up Cambodian artifacts specifically. Matthew Campbell's The Man Who Stole The Gods: A True Story of War, Obsession, and a Global Art Conspiracy (Penguin, 2026) dives into the story of the Cambodian antiquities trade, from looted temples in the Cambodian forests, through dealers in Bangkok like Douglas Latchford, and then into museums and billionaire homes in the West. And he also digs into how this trade fell apart: How the U.S. Department of Justice and activists in Cambodia pressured dealers and museums like the Met to give this art back.
