In this episode of "The Free Lawyer," host Gary Miles interviews Dan Schneiderman, a personal injury trial attorney who recently opened his own practice. Dan, from a family of medical professionals, shares his journey from a deputy district attorney to entrepreneurship. He emphasizes the importance of mentorship, strategic career planning, and work-life balance. The discussion highlights Dan's transition challenges, his calculated approach to starting his firm, and the value of coaching in overcoming imposter syndrome. The episode offers insights into managing stress, maintaining productivity, and achieving fulfillment in the legal profession. As the owner and founder of Schneiderman Trial Attorneys, Mr. Schneiderman's primary practice involves representing plaintiffs involved in personal injury disputes through mediation, arbitration, or trial in both state and federal court. Mr. Schneiderman's clients are typically individuals that have been injured or wronged due to the fault of another, and are in or anticipate litigation for personal injury-related matters. Mr. Schneiderman's specialty areas include matters involving traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, catastrophic injury and wrongful death. As a trial attorney, Mr. Schneiderman has handled numerous complex, high-stakes civil and injury cases, achieving millions in results for my clients through trial, arbitration, and settlement in state and federal court. For his work, Mr. Schneiderman has been rated by Super Lawyers magazine as being in the top 2.5% of attorneys under 40 years old, receiving the Rising Stars Award for his performance in civil litigation each year since 2016. Mr. Schneiderman has and continues to work towards providing his clients with an open and transparent attorney-client relationship, an effort that has earned him a “5 out of 5” star average client review and rating of “10/10” on the attorney review website. When he's not trying to get into a courtroom, you can usually find Dan trying to get to the beach for a surf, hanging out with his wife Vicki, two kids, and their two pets (a crazy cat and an English Bulldog), trying to invent or 3D print something in his garage, golfing, trying to write, fishing with his pops, or laying in the hammock in the backyard.Importance of Mentorship (00:10:52)Reflections on Wins and Losses (00:13:07)Control Over Professional Life (00:14:06)Seeking Coaching (00:17:01)Value of Support in Legal Profession (00:19:50)Lessons from Past Experiences (00:21:36)Calculated Launch of a New Firm (00:22:00)Defining Success and Personal Goals (00:22:37)Work-Life Balance Challenges (00:24:42)Email Management and Productivity (00:25:45)Crisis Management in Law (00:27:44)Imposter Syndrome Among Lawyers (00:29:05)Comparing Personal Growth (00:30:36)Finding Purpose in Legal Work (00:31:16)Creating Client Relationships (00:35:12)Vision for the New Firm (00:36:46)Value of Coaching and Mentorship (00:38:37)Would you like to learn more about Breaking Free or order your copy? https://www.garymiles.net/break-free Would you like to schedule a complimentary discovery call? From 1979 to 1986, life was very different in Scotland. Instead of Glasgow's big two slugging it out, the centre of power was wrestled north east towards Aberdeen and Dundee with two exciting young teams and two exceptional managers. Michael Grant from The Times and Alan Pattullo from The Scotsman tell the story of the era's peak. 1982/83 saw Aberdeen triumph in Europe and Dundee United sensationally win the title on the final day. **** If you want to support the podcast or want your episodes without ads and a couple of days earlier then head over to patreon.com/NessunDormaPodcast where you can subscribe for only $3.99 a month. Between 1981 and 1984, something odd was happening in Spanish football. You wouldn't find either Barcelona or Real Madrid at the top of La Liga at the season's end. Nor even Valencia. Instead, the power was centred in the Basque region - San Sebastian and Bilbao to be precise - as Real Sociedad and Athletic won two league titles each. Scott Oliver joins Martyn to tell this fascinating tale and explain what was going on, the political backdrop, how both sides were put together and the subsequently more vicious rivalries with the bigger Spanish sides. “You crown the year with Your goodness, and Your paths drip with abundance.” (Psalm 65:11) In the Hebrew, the word crown means to surround. During 2022, God surrounded you with Himself and good things. In 2023 He wants to do the same and more...crown or surround the year and you with His goodness. He wants your paths to drip with the abundance of provision. This does not mean you did not face challenges in 2022 or avoid challenges and difficulties in 2023. The key is: He said that He will surround you. In the story of Elisha and his servant in 2 Kings 6, the servant awoke to see that the two of them were surrounded by the armies of the enemy. But Elisha said, "There are more with us than with them." The servant thought Elisha had lost his mind until He prayed that the Lord would open his eyes that he may see. When his spiritual eyes were open, his natural eyes could see that God had crowned them or surrounded them with armies of Angels, who were more numerous and vastly more powerful than the armies of men. The biggest part of 2023 will be your perspective. What will you see? Will you believe that God has crowned the new year and surrounds you, or will you only stare at the problems, look for the negatives, and allow people and circumstances to sap your energy? Say this out loud: God has crowned my year with His goodness. My paths drip with abundance! Below, you'll find a video link to highlights from our Community Christmas Jesus Celebration and Outreach held at two churches December 10 & 17. You will notice that God helped us to crown or surround people with joy and gifts! Let us carry that generous and serving spirit into the new year. While pregnant with her second child, Danielle Snell's litigation practice was peaking. Not wanting to stop fighting for her clients, she and her business partner unveiled a new firm as she entered her seventh month of pregnancy – proving that there can and should be no obstacles to having personal fulfilment and professional success at the same time. On this episode of The Boutique Lawyer Show, host Jerome Doraisamy is joined by Elit Lawyers by McGirr and Snell co-founder and director Danielle Snell to discuss why the work she was doing while pregnant was too important to let go as she carried and then raised her second child, the challenges she encountered along the way in building a new practice and engaging with the profession, and why there shouldn't be any reason why lawyers cannot flourish in ways that, pre-pandemic, might have seemed abnormal. The pair also talk about the lessons that Ms Snell has learned from such an experience and what she would recommend to other women lawyers, what men in law (particularly leaders) can take away and how best they can support their female colleagues, and how her views on leadership have evolved, both in the new normal and as a result of her extraordinary journey. Author, editor and journalist Stephanie Convery returns to Pratchat as newspapers and conspiracy hit Ankh-Morpork in the same week! It's The Truth, the 25th Discworld novel, first published in 2000. William de Worde has made a reasonable living writing a monthly newsletter for notables, keeping them informed of goings on in Ankh-Morpork. But when he's nearly run over by Gunilla Goodmountain's new movable type printing press, he soon begins producing a different kind of "paper of news" - one that anyone can buy on the street, full of the important stories of the day. Before long "the Ankh-Morpork Times" - soon employing writer Sacharissa Cripslock and vampire iconographer Otto von Chriek - is a hit...and has ruffled a few feathers. But William has a powerful drive to spread the news, only intensified when Lord Vetinari is found unconscious next to a horse loaded with money after supposedly having stabbed his clerk. The Patrician being arrested for attempted murder and embezzlement is big news, of course - but is it the truth? Pratchett cut his teeth as a writer as a journalist, and had for many years used his work as inspiration - but nowhere as directly as in the 25th Discworld novel, which introduces the Disc's first newspaper journalists, William de Worde. Apart from William, the novel also brings us the Times' staff, most notably Sacharissa and Otto, who pop up in many future books, and the unforgettable "New Firm" of Mr Pin and Mr Tulip - plus the triumphant return of Gaspode! The books also draws on sources as broad as Shakespeare, the history of printing, Watergate and Pulp Fiction for inspiration, references and jokes, while still packing in themes as serious as public interest, prejudice, class privilege and...well...the truth. Is it weird seeing Vimes as a secondary character through the eyes of a journalist? Do you wish the staff of the Times had more books of their own? Where do you come down on the debate over public interest vs "of interest to the public"? Share your truth with us via the hashtag #Pratchat42 on social media, and join the conversation! Guest Stephanie Convery is a freelance writer and Deputy Culture Editor for Guardian Australia. Since she was last a guest on this podcast (discussing Mort way back in #Pratchat2, "Murdering a Curry"), Stephanie has published her first book: After the Count, a critically acclaimed "history and interrogation of boxing as art and a cultural examination of sport", framed around the death of boxer Davey Browne following a knockout in the ring. You can check out Stephanie's work at Guardian Australia, or follow her on Twitter at @gingerandhoney. We're planning to be part of the line-up for the Australian Discworld Convention's online event, The Lost Con, on Saturday 3rd July, 2021. More details on that soon! We'd also love to know if you want us to do an episode about The Watch television series, and whether you'd support Ben making a similar podcast about the works of Douglas Adams. Next time we're jumping ahead into the future as we continue to spread out Tiffany Aching's story: yes, it's time to grab A Hat Full of Sky! We'll be joined by writer and poet, Sally Evans. Send us your questions using the hashtag #Pratchat43, or get them in via email: chat@pratchatpodcast.com You'll find the full notes and errata for this episode on our web site. This month (April 2021) you can also help raise money for Meals on Wheels in the US as part of the #Reviews4Good initiative! We'll respond and double the donation, too. Although a point against Aberdeen in the "New Firm" derby is by no means a poor result for recently-promoted Dundee United, just three victories from their first 11 Scottish Premiership games isn't entirely impressive either. On this week's main podcast Niall and Stefan take a look at the numbers behind Micky Mellon's team and try to figure out whether they're going forwards or backwards. Kampene bliver behandlet i følgende rækkefølge: FC Nordsjælland–Lyngby (10.00) Hobro–Aab (27.10) Esbjerg–Sønderjyske (43.10) OB–Horsens (56.10) Brøndby–FCK (1.11.05) Randers-AGF (1.38.17) Silkeborg–FC Midtjylland (1.52.10) Vært: Rasmus Monnerup
Mduduzi Luthuli started Luthuli Capital, with his wife Trudy, two and a half years ago after he couldn't find the kind of wealth management job he envisioned. He went through a horrendous ordeal in 2014 that strengthened his views, commitment and determination to become the best financial adviser and investment manager he can be to his clients.Mduduzi managed to become a regular on both radio and television in this short space of time. We delve deep into how he managed to do that and shares open-heartedly of how others can do it too.We also talk about the importance of content creation and what to prepare yourself for when putting yourself and your brand out into the world of media. He also uses social media and has a very interesting approach in how he learns to use social media and how to find guidance on what to do next and how to get better at social media. He shares all of this in the podcast.Mduduzi talks about being a Financial Therapist to clients and that the core function of a financial adviser is not creating strategies, determining asset allocation or finding the best opportunities. It is translating the finance world into a meaningful language for the client and managing their behavior.
Jody Padar, AKA The Radical CPA, is a leader driven by a passion to foster real change in the accounting profession. She represent the next generation of accounting professionals, leading the vanguard for both digital CPAs and future-ready firms. Jody returns to the show to discuss her new book, From Success to Significance: The Radical CPA Guide, which is a practice-proven roadmap to a new business model for CPA firms. If you’re looking to change and you’re not sure how to begin, this lays out the steps of creating change through practical strategies, tools, tips, insights, guest experts, and case studies. So what does the New Firm look like? Technology is part of the core of the firm, and is used to facilitate closer client relationships. The business model transforms: instead of doing every kind of work for every kind of customer, they’ve niched down. They productize everything offered, so they don’t track or bill by time and, instead, offer everything they do at a fixed or value price. There’s no question: technology is having a significant impact on CPA firms. So how are our firms going to evolve and transform their business model to react to them, and to innovate with them? “We can’t change fast enough. We really have to transform our accounting firms so that we can be relevant. Change doesn't work anymore. We really need transformation.” And this transformation isn’t just at the firm or technology level – it’s a total mindset shift that everyone needs to buy into. Everyone in The New Firm needs to be adaptable, forward-thinking, and more than just an accountant. The computers are going to do most of the accounting work, so we need to be better consultants and trusted business advisors. We need to be Radical CPAs.
