Patient retention is one of the biggest struggles chiropractors face. Whether it's patients not completing their initial care plans or failing to return after they feel better, retention can make or break a practice. In this episode, Jerry breaks down the two most foundational aspects of retention that chiropractors often overlook—and how to fix them. What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why retention problems are usually people problems—not clinical problems The importance of having a clear care plan (and why “winging it” leads to patient drop-off) How to create agreement with patients without using gimmicks or canned recommendations Why connection is the key to long-term retention and how to stay in touch with patients after their initial care Practical ways to stay connected and reconnect, including social media, newsletters, texting, and even reactivation campaigns The low-hanging fruit most chiropractors ignore that could easily bring patients back into the office Final Thoughts Retention doesn't have to be complicated. Focus on agreement in the beginning and connection over the long haul. If you get these two foundations right, most of your retention struggles will disappear. Want Help Growing Your Practice? Infused with the relaxing quality of nature and the sound-masking properties of white noise, listening to running water is an ideal way to turn off all the stressful things life brings, and to de-stress. Some of our most popular sounds include a river, flowing creek, babbling brook, gentle waves on a lake, and a bamboo fountain. Rain also creates a natural white noise. Infused with the relaxing quality of nature and the sound-masking properties of white noise, listening to rain is an ideal way to switch off all the stressful things life brings and to de-stress. Some of our most popular sounds are rain on an umbrella, hailstorms, hard rain, soft rain, gentle rain, wind and rain, rain on a car.White noise helps babies and children to get a better and deeper night's sleep. This is because external sounds are masked by the noise. With white noise in the background, your child will not hear annoying cars driving by or dogs barking in bed. This allows your little one to sleep better. And it also saves you as a parent a lot of hours!Pink noise is more common in nature than you might expect. It can be compared to continuous rainfall or wind. In addition to white noise, pink noise is also increasing in popularity, especially in business environments. Because it can increase productivity, concentration and creativity.Brown noise can be compared to waves of the sea, a river current, strong winds or the sound of thunder during a storm. Like pink noise, brown noise is very similar to white noise. However, the frequencies have been lowered even further and a lot more concentrated. This gives it a rougher/coarse tone than pink noise. It sounds a bit deeper and a bit bass-like. The benefits of brown noise are the same as the other types of noise. It provides relaxation, increased focus and improved deep sleep.DISCLAIMER: Be aware that loud noises can damage your hearing. If you can't carry on a conversation without raising your voice while playing one of our spheres, the sound may be too loud for your ears. Do not place the speakers directly next to a baby's ears. If you have trouble hearing or ringing in your ears, stop listening to the white noise immediately and see an audiologist or your doctor. The sounds provided by ASMR Sleep Recordings are for entertainment purposes only and are not a treatment for sleep disorders or tinnitus. John Dwyer — founder of The Institute of Wow, direct response marketing expert, and creator of standout campaigns (including a rare Jerry Seinfeld deal) that help businesses win without competing on price. Key Points: Theming sells: Inspired by Disney, JD uses evergreen, public domain themes (wildlife, outer space, dinosaurs) to make offers irresistible year‑round. Free IP example: Attack of the Dinosaurs collectible promo netted $500K in 4 weeks. Seinfeld home loan campaign: Replaced rate discounts with a free vacation, resulting in billions in extra loans. Incentives over discounts: Low‑cost/high‑perceived‑value rewards take focus off price — must match what the audience wants. Turf farm + premium beer bonus = sold out in days. Loyalty rewards swapped for movie vouchers boosted response. Ultimate incentive — travel: Access to unsold hotel rooms sold as bulk vouchers (~$48 special). Works for big‑ticket and demo offers; Harley dealers see ~3.5 sales per 10 test rides. Same cost as a 10% discount, far more pulling power. Doesn't work for every sector (e.g., funerals). JD's Principles: Don't discount — differentiate with irresistible offers. Match incentive to customer desires, not product features. Use free IP themes to avoid licensing costs. Focus on high perceived value / low actual cost. Connect with John: vacationsincentive.com (email for 2‑for‑1 podcast listener deal) Email: john@theinstituteofwow.com

How to be a strong runner even as you ageWe all know the saying, "Age is just a number," but when it comes to running, that number can sometimes feel like a roadblock. However, I'm here to tell you that with the right approach, you can absolutely continue to improve your speed and perform at your best, no matter your age. So, let's explore how to stay fast as the years go by!Let's dive in! First off, it's important to understand what changes as we age. Muscle mass starts to decline after age 30, which affects our strength and speed. Also, aerobic capacity (the ability of your heart and lungs to provide oxygen to your muscles) tends to decrease with age. This makes it harder to sustain faster paces. But here's the good news: these age-related changes aren't permanent. By being proactive in our training, we can maintain and even enhance our running performance over time.Don't compare yourself to pro or olympic athletes. You aren't a pro.

Based on his book, Renaissance, Os Guinness calls the current generation the “crunch generation” because the many challenges facing today’s world are converging quickly and need resolution. He asks Christians to pay “focused attention” to listening to non-believers around them in order to connect. Os advises believers to think deeply for themselves when it comes to loving God with their minds. When witnessing, they must ask questions to those questioning Christianity, rather than making statements, allowing the non-believer to think and come to their own discovery of salvation in Jesus. In this episode, our dear friend Marcus Ginyard takes us from the roar of Cameron Indoor (yes, beating Duke four years straight), to quiet moments of self-reflection in faraway places. We talk about the Carolina basketball family that lasts a lifetime, what 11 seasons in eight countries taught him about people and purpose, and why he's embracing a “butterfly” season of big, messy, beautiful change. Along the way there's wine, style, tattoos, and stories that prove being powerful is about showing up — for your team, for yourself, and for the world. Marcus Ginyard is a Virginia boy turned Tar Heel man — NCAA Champion, UNC co-captain, and defensive powerhouse — who built a career on leadership, grit, and heart. Today, he brings that same spirit to life beyond basketball, creating space where everyone feels at home. https://teachhoops.com/ Here is a generic take on an interview with a "Hall of Fame Coach AC." When asked what single principle defined his Hall of Fame career, the legendary Coach AC pauses, his gaze steady. "It was never about the X's and O's on the chalkboard; those change with the times. The foundation was always about accountability. I demanded that every player be accountable to the person next to them, both on and off the field. It's about building a culture where the team's standards are more important than any individual's comfort. We didn't build teams; we forged chains, where every link was responsible for the strength of the whole. Talent can win you games, but it's that shared accountability and trust that wins you championships."

In my work with kids, I've seen the right blends shift moods in minutes, calm anxious hearts, and help a classroom breathe easier. Focus, calm, immune support — yes, they can do that. But essential oils aren't toys, and using them safely is non-negotiable...

Ann Pells shows aspiring entrepreneurs how to acquire already profitable, professionally managed small businesses that can net $10K/month—while requiring only about an hour a week to oversee. Drawing on her own journey from financial crisis to portfolio business owner, Ann explains how to find, fund, and operate recession-resistant companies without becoming a full-time operator yourself. On this episode we cover: From pink slip to passive ownershipYears ago, Ann's family was blindsided when her husband was laid off—their only income source at the time. With three young kids, she vowed never to rely on one job again. After trying time-intensive real estate investing, she realized she needed teams and systems to create income without 60–80 hour work weeks. The turning pointFive years ago, she discovered a funding and management team (via a 5‑minute YouTube video) that helped her pay off her house in five years and access $200K for business acquisitions. That same team now helps her—and her clients—find, vet, fund, and manage those businesses. First acquisition Type: Water delivery service (home essentials niche) Structure: Partnered with ~10 existing investors, stepped into a deal mid-process with management team in place. Why that industry: Recession-resistant necessity (like plumbing, HVAC, medical, funeral homes, etc.). Deal sourcing Common public marketplaces: BizBuySell, Website Closers, etc. Ann's management team does the research, shortlists candidates that match her criteria, and later operates the business post-close. Location can be local or remote if a strong manager is in place. Buyer criteria Target: ~25% profit margin Industries with steady demand regardless of economy. Prefer businesses already running well—opportunities to add tech or optimization for increased value at resale. Always buy with an exit strategy in mind (3–5 year horizon), even if planning to hold long term. Financing approaches Revenue-based financing: Loans underwritten on the target business's financials, not the buyer's personal credit. Seller financing where possible. Partnering to share risk and split profits. Her current portfolio 4 operating businesses Purchasing 2 more now Leverages same management/funding network for all deals Practical Advice for Aspiring Acquirers: Think recession resistance: Focus on “needs” industries like home services, healthcare, essentials. Use other people's expertise: Partner with existing managers and acquisition pros—don't try to play every role. Let the numbers guide you: Profit margin, stable cash flow, and solid P&L history matter more than “charm” or trendiness. Ask “How can I?” not “Can I?” — Shifts your brain into solution-finding mode. Top 3 Takeaways: Buying beats building: Acquire something already working with cash flow and processes in place. Partnering & management = leverage: You don't need to personally operate the business to benefit from it. Funding is out there: Revenue-based and seller financing can drastically reduce or eliminate upfront out-of-pocket costs. Notable Quotes: “Instead of telling ourselves we can't, ask: How can I?” “We don't buy to give ourselves another job—we buy with management teams in place so it's hours a week, not hours a day.” “Recession-resistant means: people need it whether the economy booms or busts.” Connect with Ann Pells: Website: lifegiverlegacy.com

On this episode of Destination on the Left, I talk with Camille Zess, Vice President of Growth at TAP, who brings 14 years of wide-ranging expertise in digital strategy, website development, email marketing, and the ever-evolving world of AI. We discuss the “Owned” media segment of the PESO Model—your website, blog, email marketing, and other assets you have complete control over. Camille shares practical tips on evaluating and optimizing these owned channels, from knowing when it's time for a website refresh to the power of blog audits and list segmentation. Our discussion also explores emerging trends, such as adapting your content strategy for AI-driven search and leveraging print collateral in creative ways. What You Will Learn in This Episode: Why owned media (websites, email marketing, blogs) serves as the foundation for effective marketing plans Steps Camille recommends for evaluating and enhancing your owned assets How segmentation and personalization in email marketing can help target different audience groups more effectively Why regular content audits ensure your owned channels remain timely, relevant, and aligned with your strategic goals What role emerging trends like AI and generative engine optimization (GEO) play in shaping how destinations should develop and share owned content How to measure the success of owned media tactics using key performance indicators in Google Analytics Owned Media as the Cornerstone of the PESO Model The PESO Model, originally developed by Ginny Dietrich, stands for Paid, Earned, Shared, and Owned media. While all four elements are essential for a comprehensive integrated marketing strategy, owned media is often the foundation upon which the other components are built. Unlike paid placements or earned coverage, owned media provides total control over your messaging, branding, and audience engagement. For travel and tourism organizations, this means shaping the narrative around your destination, attraction, or service without being subject to algorithms, editors, or third-party platforms. Websites, Emails, and Blogs The best place to start is with the basics: website, email, and blog. Each serves a dual role as both a direct communication channel and a central hub for integrating with your other PESO tactics. Website: Your digital home base. Every few years, assess its usability, content, and technology to ensure it supports both visitors and your staff. If you avoid using your own website in campaigns, that's a red flag that shows it's time for a revamp. Email Marketing: A direct pipeline to your audience. Focus on growing your list, increasing engagement, and experimenting with segmentation for better targeting, such as creating a local list for residents interested in exclusive offers. Blog: An SEO powerhouse and evergreen content resource. Use it to highlight key assets, answer frequently asked questions, share itineraries, and drive authority on topics that matter to your audience. Integrating Owned with the Wider Plan Though the acronym reads PESO, starting with “paid” isn't always the most effective. As Camille points out, TAP often leads with owned or earned tactics because they form the content backbone for everything else; paid campaigns merely amplify what's already working. When planning, review your owned assets alongside your brand positioning and audience goals. Consider where gaps exist, such as organizations not yet doing email marketing (and wanting to drive repeat visitation) or those needing advanced tactics like personalized content and tailored landing pages for lead generation or ticket sales. The Bible teaches that God looks at the heart rather than outward appearance (1 Samuel 16:7) and that we are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). Your worth comes from being created in God's image, not from meeting cultural beauty standards. Q: How can Christian women overcome postpartum body shame? Postpartum body changes are part of God's design. Shift your perspective by thanking God for what your body has accomplished, such as carrying and nurturing life. Replace negative self-talk with Scripture, and focus on caring for your body out of gratitude rather than trying to “bounce back.” Q: How can I embrace aging as a Christian? Aging is a visible reminder of God's grace and the life He has given you. Scripture calls gray hair a crown of glory (Proverbs 16:31). Focus on spiritual renewal (2 Corinthians 4:16) and view smile lines and other signs of aging as evidence of joy and wisdom. Q: How do I teach my kids a healthy, biblical body image? Avoid appearance-based compliments and focus on character, kindness, and perseverance. Address unrealistic portrayals in media, celebrate body diversity, and remind your children that God created their bodies on purpose and with care. Q: How do I replace negative body image thoughts with God's truth? Identify the source of the negative thought (family, peers, or media) and then replace it with a relevant Bible verse. Keep verses like Psalm 139:14 or 1 Corinthians 6:19–20 visible—on your mirror, phone background, or journal—and repeat them regularly until they take root. Can You Really Spot a Great Company Before Everyone Else Does? In this episode of REady2Scale, Jeannette Friedrich sits down with Lee McCabe, Partner at Claymore Partners and former executive at Meta, Alibaba, and Expedia. With deep experience in both technology and private equity, Lee shares how to uncover high-potential companies, particularly those hiding in “boring” sectors, by focusing on digital transformation, data-driven operations, and overlooked growth levers. Whether you're an investor, operator, or advisor, you'll gain practical insights into how leading firms are building value not just through financial engineering but through smarter marketing, better tech stacks, and operational efficiency. Key Takeaways: - Why old-school industries hold untapped value:Digitally underserved sectors like B2B and consumer services are ripe for disruption and value creation. - The power of a functional tech stack: Many businesses lack proper data infrastructure. Building a connected, insight-driven stack is step one to scaling sustainably. - What digital value creation really looks like:Private equity must shift from passive ownership to active operational involvement, especially in marketing and data analytics. - Lead generation is the real business: CEOs in services should view themselves as running lead generation engines. Conversion begins with optimised websites and media spend tracked to ROI. - AI hype versus reality: AI is not yet the silver bullet for most companies. Without basic data systems in place, AI becomes a distraction rather than a solution. - How to avoid data overload: Focus on the 10 to 15 KPIs that truly drive performance instead of drowning in dashboards and vanity metrics. - The real role of marketing agencies: Good agencies tie marketing spend directly to revenue and profitability instead of reporting on clicks and impressions. - Advising today's private equity investors:Future-leading firms will use defined operational playbooks focused on digital execution from day one rather than relying on traditional financial levers. - The compound effect of small steps:Lee shares his philosophy for building an extraordinary life: take consistent action every day, even when the direction is unclear. A Parenting Resource for Children’s Behavior and Mental Health
I promised myself I wouldn't yell… and then I did. If you've ever felt that gut-punch after losing it with your child—again—you're not alone. I've been there too.As a mom and therapist, I know how exhausting it is to parent a child who's constantly melting down or talking back. But here's the good news: you can learn to respond, not react—and it starts with calming your own brain first. In this episode, I open up about what really drives those parenting blow-ups and how to calm your own nervous system first—so you can show up for your child with more calm, compassion, and confidence. Why do I lose it when I swore I wouldn't?Even when we know better, sometimes our nervous system doesn't. Our stress response kicks in, hijacks our rational brain, and suddenly we're reacting—not responding. That's what happened to me on a day that started with a broken air conditioner and ended with a wrong pizza order. What set me off wasn't the pizza—it was my empty stomach, my frayed nerves, and the fact that I didn't take time to regulate. We all have triggers. Sometimes it's noise, sometimes it's feeling disrespected, or simply being worn too thin. When we're running on empty, the little things feel huge. What can I do instead of yelling?I get this question all the time. The truth is, it starts with calming your nervous system. That means:Taking a pause, even just to breathe.Saying out loud, “I'm feeling overwhelmed. I need a minute to calm myself.”Reminding yourself, “This isn't misbehavior—it's dysregulation.”I often say to myself, “My calm is their calm.” When my kids are dysregulated, it's not my job to match their energy. It's my job to bring the calm. That's not easy—but it is possible with practice.Want to stay calm when your child pushes every button?Become a Dysregulation Insider VIP and get the FREE Regulation Rescue Kit—your step-by-step guide to stop oppositional behaviors without yelling or giving in.Go to www.drroseann.com/newsletter and grab your kit today. How do I stop the reactivity cycle in parenting? It comes down to awareness. I've learned to notice the signs that I'm headed toward a meltdown: clenched teeth, shallow breathing, skipping meals. That's when I know it's time to step back. Some of the best ways I regulate include:Movement: Even just a few squats or stretching.Hot/cold therapy: I use a heated neck wrap—my kids tease me, but it works!Quick phrases that interrupt the cycle, like: “I will not lose my stuff.”It's not about perfection. It's about progress—and learning to hit the pause button before things escalate. What should I do after I've already blown up?Reflect with self-compassion: Ask, “Was I hungry? Tired? Triggered? Overwhelmed?”Model accountability: Say, “I'm sorry I lost my temper. That's on me.”Focus on emotional repair:“We're both losing it—what can we do to stop this?”“I love you. You're safe. I'm learning, just like you.”Even toddlers understand phrases like “My brain feels hot.” Kids learn emotional regulation skills when we model repair and reflection. How do I rebuild trust and connection with my dysregulated child?Apologize with empathy: It shows your child that it's okay to make mistakes and come back to love.Don't normalize constant conflict: Show your child that healthy relationships have ups and...
