Too often, entrepreneurs overload their offers with extra features and services no one asked for. More isn't always better — especially in 2025. People aren't looking for more information. One of the biggest contributors of stress that is impacting millions of Americans right now is financial anxiety and economic uncertainty. In fact, according to a recent survey, 70% of the population is feeling the impact of the current economy. Not just mentally, but there's also a physical toll when your overall health, diet, and sleep habits start to slip. With that in mind, I'm sharing tips on mastering your mindset and three (3) simple steps that helped me turn things around from one of the darkest periods of my life in 2008, when I was drowning in debt, to doubling my income in just two months, even as the recession got worse. How did I do it? I leaned into what would become the Miracle Morning and the S.A.V.E.R.S. to focus on improving my financial situation. In doing so, I was able to stop my suffering and depression, regain my peace of mind, and start building momentum again. Whether you're struggling with inflation and the rising costs of groceries and basic needs or simply feeling stuck, these three steps can help you take action today and improve your situation, starting from the inside out. And always remember that your peace of mind is not determined by your paycheck but by your perspective. How can we nurture our friendships while juggling the demands of motherhood? In this heartfelt episode of Whinypaluza Wednesday, Rebecca discusses the importance of friendships in a mom's life and provides practical advice on being a good friend while balancing the many demands of parenthood. Rebecca shares personal experiences about the challenge of making time for friendships amid her busy schedule of "kid stuff, work stuff, house stuff, husband stuff, errand stuff, taxi stuff" and how she discovered that stopping to connect with friends makes her feel "like 100 bucks" and recharged. She discusses her recent Mother's Day weekend experiences where she enjoyed both morning and evening outings with different friend groups, highlighting the importance of self-care and social connection. Key Takeaways: → Show grace, not guilt. Understand that everyone has busy seasons, and don't make friends feel bad when they can't always connect immediately. → Make connecting easy - Get creative about friendship time; it doesn't have to be a formal dinner. Coffee dates, car rides, or walks can be just as meaningful. → Be honest and genuine - You don't need to pretend your life is perfect. True friendship allows for vulnerability and authenticity. → Celebrate each other—There's room for all of us to win and succeed. Lift each other up and be genuinely happy for others' successes. → Don't compete, connect - Friendship isn't a competition about whose kids are doing better or who has the better house. Focus on connection instead. Quotes from Rebecca: "When I stop my wheel and I have friend time, I feel like 100 bucks, you get recharged." "This is not a competition. Friendship is not a competition. It's not whose kids are doing better. It's not whose house is better, whose car is better, whose job is better. Just connect. Just be happy for each other." Thanks to our Partner, NAPA Autotech TrainingKey Discussion Points:What is Reverse Benchmarking?Traditional benchmarking focuses on studying what competitors do well, but reverse benchmarking involves analyzing what they do poorly and capitalizing on those weaknesses. Two interpretations:Looking at other industries for innovative ideas (e.g., team-building activities from tech companies).Example: Some shops now adopt spontaneous team outings (baseball games, go-karting) inspired by Silicon Valley culture.Staying within the automotive industry to identify gaps in competitors' customer experience or service offerings.Applying Reverse Benchmarking in Auto RepairCustomer Experience:Visit competitor shops (dealerships, independents) and note flaws—uncomfortable waiting room chairs, poor TV choices, limited snack/drink options.Actionable Fixes: Upgrade seating, offer neutral TV content (e.g., Joy of Painting), provide filtered water instead of plastic bottles.Market Gaps:If competitors specialize in European cars (like Seth Thorson's shop), consider specializing in underserved markets (e.g., Asian brands like Hyundai, Kia, Nissan).Focus on services competitors avoid (advanced diagnostics, programming, driveline work).Technician-Level Reverse BenchmarkingIn a shop with a star "R&R tech," instead of competing directly, fill gaps (e.g., diagnostics, electrical troubleshooting) to become indispensable."See a need, fill a need"—position yourself as the go-to for overlooked but critical tasks. Why It WorksCreates a unique value proposition—whether for customers (better experience) or employers (specialized skills).Helps shops stand out in saturated markets by addressing unmet needs.Final Thoughts:Reverse benchmarking isn't new, but it's underutilized in automotive.Whether you're a shop owner, manager, or tech, observing competitors' weaknesses can reveal opportunities for growth.Contact InformationEmail Matt: mattfanslowpodcast@gmail.comDiagnosing the Aftermarket A - Z YouTube Channel Subscribe & Review: Loved this episode? On today's show, we chat with Phil King!Phil is based in Amarillo, Texas, but his impact as a songwriter and worship leader is felt throughout the industry. His songs have been recorded by Matt Redman, Leeland and Micah Tyler, among others, and he released the duet "Psalm 23 (I Am Not Alone)" with Meredith Andrews in 2023. Another career highlight for Phil was his participation in Focus on the Family's 2019 pro-life event “Alive From New York.” He and Francesca Battistelli performed his song “Not Forgotten” before 20,000 people in Times Square. He has sung and played on records and live events for artists that include Michael W. Smith, Jekalyn Carr, Danny Gokey, Charity Gayle, Lauren Daigle, Meredith Andrews, Francesca Battistelli, Jamie Grace, Lindell Cooley, and others. His songwriting credits include Leeland, Matt Redman, Mack Brock, Micah Tyler, Christine D'Clario, Rita Springer, and more. But most of all, Phil's favorite thing is to be available to lead worship alongside the men and women of God who carry the Gospel to the furthermost regions of the earth. His song, Miscarriages, is out now. Miscarriages” can help others who are grieving such a loss. Miscarriage is so common, and the pain is not acknowledged enough, both in the Church and society.

Welcome to a new episode of ASMR Sleep Recordings. In this episode, you will hear the wind and rain. Improve your health and happiness. The sound you hear in this episode creates a calm atmosphere and at the same time blocks out disturbing noises. This will help you de-stress, unwind, and rest. Enjoy two hours of relaxing sounds to help you relax, focus, study and fall asleep.About ASMR Sleep Recordings:The purpose of ASMR Sleep Recording is to help you sleep and concentrate better. This particular episode lasts two hours and has no ads in the middle, so you won't be woken up or disturbed while focusing or relaxing. When you listen to ASMR Sleep Recordings, you can lock your phone, so you won't get any bothersome stimuli from notifications and other sounds from your phone. You can switch between apps while studying or working without pausing the ambient sound.About our sounds:Water creates a natural white noise. Infused with the relaxing quality of nature and the sound-masking properties of white noise, listening to running water is an ideal way to turn off all the stressful things life brings, and to de-stress. Some of our most popular sounds include a river, flowing creek, babbling brook, gentle waves on a lake, and a bamboo fountain. Rain also creates a natural white noise. Infused with the relaxing quality of nature and the sound-masking properties of white noise, listening to rain is an ideal way to switch off all the stressful things life brings and to de-stress. Some of our most popular sounds are rain on an umbrella, hailstorms, hard rain, soft rain, gentle rain, wind and rain, rain on a car.White noise helps babies and children to get a better and deeper night's sleep. This is because external sounds are masked by the noise. With white noise in the background, your child will not hear annoying cars driving by or dogs barking in bed. This allows your little one to sleep better. And it also saves you as a parent a lot of hours!Pink noise is more common in nature than you might expect. It can be compared to continuous rainfall or wind. In addition to white noise, pink noise is also increasing in popularity, especially in business environments. Because it can increase productivity, concentration and creativity.Brown noise can be compared to waves of the sea, a river current, strong winds or the sound of thunder during a storm. Like pink noise, brown noise is very similar to white noise. However, the frequencies have been lowered even further and a lot more concentrated. This gives it a rougher/coarse tone than pink noise. It sounds a bit deeper and a bit bass-like. The benefits of brown noise are the same as the other types of noise. It provides relaxation, increased focus and improved deep sleep.DISCLAIMER: Be aware that loud noises can damage your hearing. If you can't carry on a conversation without raising your voice while playing one of our spheres, the sound may be too loud for your ears. Do not place the speakers directly next to a baby's ears. If you have trouble hearing or ringing in your ears, stop listening to the white noise immediately and see an audiologist or your doctor. The sounds provided by ASMR Sleep Recordings are for entertainment purposes only and are not a treatment for sleep disorders or tinnitus. Consult your doctor if you regularly have severe sleeping problems, experience fitful/restless sleep or feel tired during the day.ASMR Sleep Recordings is the white noise and nature sounds podcast to help you sleep, study or soothe a baby. ASMR Sleep Recordings has uploaded more than 400+ episodes in the 4 years that the podcast has been online. You can listen to all episodes of the podcast on your favorite podcast platform. Welcome back to Creator Science! In this solo episode, I'm inviting you directly into the whirlwind that is my mind these days. From the outside, it might look like I've got things under control—but as I share straight from my journal, the reality is a constant tug-of-war between where my energy wants to go and where my time needs to be spent. I open up about the challenges of juggling my main business, the demands of being a new dad, and my excitement (and uncertainty) around a big experiment: writing a book proposal. You'll hear my unfiltered reflections on feeling pulled toward deep, meaningful work—like research, writing, and evolving my community—while also handling the business operations that keep everything running. In this episode, I walk through the practical framework I've developed—concentrate, eliminate, consolidate, automate, and delegate—that's helping me re-evaluate how I spend my time and create space for what feels truly alive for me right now. I'll break down the tough choices, the things I'm letting go of (goodbye, social media expectations!), and my vision for building a stronger, more connected Creator Science community. Harriet Frost is a force of energy, endurance, and entrepreneurial grit. From completing the notorious Arc of Attrition 100-mile ultra twice, to directing multiple trail races, to co-founding a menstrual cup company focused on sustainable period care for athletes — Harriet is redefining what it means to pursue hard things, in business and on the trail. In this episode, Harriet shares her journey from growing up in Cornwall to discovering a love of endurance sport later in life — despite hating running at first. With no formal coaching, she's built her own training strategy based on experience, discipline, and gut instinct — and it's taken her to the finish lines of some of the UK's most brutal ultra events. We also dive into the founding of Sea+Flo, a period care company created by women, for women, aiming to empower people to better understand and manage their menstrual health during sport. Harriet speaks candidly about the mental strength required to train alone, run in the dark, and manage periods while racing, as well as her mission to bring more female voices to the forefront of adventure and endurance media. This is a conversation about grit, vulnerability, and showing up — again and again — even when the path ahead is long, muddy, and uncertain. In this powerful episode, David Maxwell of Thriving Man tackles a struggle many of us face: releasing the need for approval and letting go of what others think.Introduction: The Trap of Seeking ApprovalDavid opens with a relatable illustration: trying to impress a professional drummer while playing in a band, highlighting how easy it is to get caught in the trap of focusing on what others think. This desire for external validation can prevent us from truly living as the men we were designed to be. This episode, part of the Insecurity Series, is all about helping you live a thriving life. The Historical Struggle with External OpinionThe struggle with what others think is not new. From fashion choices to relationship decisions (like picking a partner for appearance rather than connection), we often let external perceptions dictate our lives. David clarifies that it's not about never caring what people think, but about releasing the need for approval. When you live for others' approval, you lose control of your own life. Two Keys to Releasing the Need for Approval1. Build a Healthy DetachmentHealthy detachment is not coldness or indifference. Instead, it's a mature and balanced way of relating to the world. It allows you to:Focus on your individual well-being while engaging in respectful interactions.Navigate complex relationships without losing yourself.Practice compassion without enmeshment and engagement without undue emotional burden.Live authentically, without playing a part or acting out a character.Cultivate empathy and build healthy connections, avoiding the people-pleasing trap.Healthy detachment requires truth:Be honest about your own strengths and weaknesses.Be truthful in your dealings with others, speaking honestly about your actions.Jesus is presented as an example: loving and empathetic, yet speaking uncomfortable truths and not letting others control him.2. Learn to Release ControlYou cannot control what others think of you, so stop trying. This doesn't mean you don't care, but it means their opinions can't control you. David illustrates this with examples like wearing uncomfortable fashion trends or putting on an "I don't care mask" – both are attempts to control perception. The key is to simply be you.Trying to control others' opinions often stems from our own insecurity. As you become more secure in who you are, acknowledging both your strengths and weaknesses, you'll develop a peace that permeates all areas of your life. While protecting your name and integrity is important, you ultimately cannot control what happens in other people's minds.Your Call to ActionStart by focusing on building your healthy detachment:Individual well-being: How are you growing as a man? In this episode of Stronger Sales Teams, Ben Wright explores the vital role a well-structured training program plays in driving success for B2B sales teams. He highlights the power of tailored, succinct, and impactful training sessions, illustrating how these can significantly boost team performance, morale, and retention. Despite its often-overlooked value, Ben makes a compelling case for formal training as a strategic investment in revenue growth and long-term sales success. Key Takeaways: Effective training programs are customised, concise, compelling, consistent, and coaching-focused. Tailor training to suit the current stage and experience level of your team members. Train teams specifically on areas they need improvement to optimise their sales process. Ensure your team can clearly communicate the unique value propositions of your business. What if the key to navigating uncertainty and making truly aligned decisions lies not just in logic, but in an ancient wisdom tradition?I was fascinated to learn from Hrund Gunnsteinsdottir about 'Innsæi: Heal, Revive and Reset with the Icelandic Art of Intuition', which she beautifully describes as 'the sea within.' This isn't about vague hunches; it's an effective way to harness unconscious information for better choices and actions, especially when facing the unknown. We delve into how you can cultivate this 'inner compass'—learning to 'see within' to distinguish intuition from biases, and 'see from the inside out' to navigate life's turbulence. Discover why your attention is the gateway to this power and how simple practices, like keeping an attention journal, can help you regain ownership of it. You'll also understand the 'two rhythms' of knowing when to switch between analysis and intuition, transforming how you approach problems and become more prepared for the unexpected. It's about developing this innate skill, like a muscle, for long-term success and a deeper connection to your own inner genius./ / / Are you ready to take the next step on your brain optimization journey? / / /Choose your own adventure. BIO: Oeystein Kalleklev is the outgoing CEO of Flex LNG and Avance Gas. He has prior experience as CFO of Knutsen NYK Offshore Tankers and Umoe Group and Chairman General Partner of MLP KNOT Offshore Partners.STORY: Oeystein has been part of some terrible investments made by his employers. One invested $150 million to become the biggest shareholder of a mine in Guinea, which was lost due to a bad regime. During the great financial crisis, another invested $300 million into a bioethanol plant in Brazil.LEARNING: In a dynamic industry like shipping, you must think more about adapting and being tactical rather than strategic. “You have to be really disciplined when you are in a cyclical industry. Observe where the market is going, and learn how to adapt.”Oeystein Kalleklev Guest profileOeystein Kalleklev is the outgoing CEO of Flex LNG (NYSE/OSE: FLNG) and Avance Gas (OSE: AGAS). He has prior experience as CFO of Knutsen NYK Offshore Tankers and Umoe Group, as well as Chairman General Partner of MLP KNOT Offshore Partners (NYSE: KNOP).Worst investment everOeystein has been part of some terrible investments. In one case, a family Oeystein worked for had invested about $150 million to become the biggest shareholder of a mine in Guinea. The country was under an unstable regime, and the leader was assassinated. There were also so many operational hiccups operationally. That $150 million turned out to be like $3 million when they sold their last share. He has also been involved in bioethanol production in Brazil, where a company he worked for invested about $300 million into a bioethanol plant in Brazil during the great financial crisis. The bosses had to restructure the whole company, and Oeystein had to go to the US to talk to bondholders, trying to get them to choose whether to become shareholders or take a big hit on the bond loans. In another case, Oeystein was involved in a nickel mine in the Philippines where the company he was working for was building a floating production ship for oil. The budget was $280 million, but the company spent $500 million on that building project, and it also took one and a half extra years to complete.Lessons learnedWhen you have such a dynamic industry as shipping, you must think more about adapting and being tactical rather than strategic.Focus on running your ships efficiently—it's a critical success factor.Shipping is a lot about market timing. Read the market, know where it is going, when you should exit, and when you should invest. You have to be knowledgeable about technology because technology changes quite often in shipping.Be smart about running a shipping company. Do it lean and follow the technology.Andrew's takeawaysIt's hard to set a long-term strategy in an industry such as shipping because you've got to adapt to what's happening in the market. You have to run ships efficiently, or else you will miss the core aspect of your business.Actionable adviceIf you want to venture into the shipping industry, you must properly understand shipping because it's not as straightforward as people think. It's not just about moving goods from A to B.No.1 goal for the next 12 monthsOeystein's number one goal for the next 12 months is to read more books to be on top of contemporary issues and be a successful shipping...

Ever feel like you're constantly thinking about food, judging your body, or wondering if you'll ever feel normal around either? You're not alone—I've been there too.In this powerful episode, I sit down with licensed therapist Natalie Rose to unpack the deep emotional roots behind disordered eating, body shame, and the fear of weight gain—especially for women who've spent years tying their worth to a number on the scale.Natalie shares her raw, relatable journey from childhood body image struggles and binge-restrict cycles to orthorexia and chasing “health” through perfectionism. But her story doesn't end there. Through years of therapy, self-reflection, and professional training, she found true freedom—not just with food, but in how she sees and values herself. And now, she's helping other women do the same.We explore why healing has to come from within, what it really means to detach your self-worth from a number on the scale, and how to move through body image struggles with radical compassion (not another plan to “fix” yourself). Natalie also offers perspective on how social media fuels comparison and what to do when those old shame triggers resurface.Whether you're in a season of healing or still stuck in the “once I lose the weight, then I'll be happy” trap—this episode will give you the mindset shifts, emotional insight, and permission you didn't know you needed.xoxo,JackieConnect with Natalie:Instagram: @WakeupandsmelltherosayConnect with Jackie:Instagram: @the.mindful.nutritionist Podcast: Lose Weight MindfullyWebsite: www.eatright4life.comConnect with Jackie: >Got questions about MWLA? “I've given myself the title of ‘cat with nine lives.'” In this inspiring episode of the Project Purple Podcast, host Dino Verrelli talks with Toni Bravo, a pancreatic cancer survivor and student at the University of Notre Dame, to share her incredible cancer journey. Toni opens up about the shocking moment she was diagnosed during her junior year of college. The diagnosis came after an accident where she was hit by a car in a crash. Despite an initial CT scan missing the tumor, Toni's instincts told her something was wrong. Two months later, a follow-up CT scan revealed the truth. Toni reflects on how her life changed when she received the diagnosis alone, away from home. Her personal mantras, “Everything happens for a reason” and “Focus on the things you can control,” helped her navigate the challenges she faced. “I've always looked at everything as a redirection of my life. I've always had a pretty optimistic outlook,” she says. Drawing on childhood lessons, like adaptability, Toni shares how her experience taught her to cherish time. Throughout the conversation, Toni talks about the impact cancer had on her life as a young adult, processing the surgery to remove the tumor, how it changed her college career, grappling with mortality at just 20 years old, and finding peace. Her story is a powerful testament to hope, resilience, and strength. Subscribe to the Project Purple Podcast for more powerful stories from the pancreatic cancer community.
