I looked for remedies to heal allergies…And I found them!!!My girlfriend is healed from her Allergy. I checked the internet and I don't want to sell you anything…. And 95% are B. S….Simply stated, an allergy is an abnormal reaction by your body's immune system to normal substances in the environment (airborne), and the foods we eat, or can even be caused by chemical sensitivities. Some allergies cause only minor symptoms, but others can be very dangerous to your health. Most physicians tend to mask the underlying symptoms with prescription drugs including antihistamines, decongestants, topical creams, etc. Histamine is a chemical your immune system releases. It's mainly known for its role in causing allergy symptoms. But it has other important functions, like regulating your sleep-wake cycle and cognitive function. The Airborne Allergies you can heal with bee pollen… I have already written about that:My blog: Get Relief from Hay FeverThe cause of allergies and inflammation is in the guts and liver…And if you heal both, allergies are gone…I looked for alternatives… Holistic, allergies are caused by suppressed anger and fear… the body is fighting like crazy against …So that we live in disharmony with our environment…And that is gut and liver-related.For instance, high stress can cause allergies, and stress is caused by anxiety and anger.Guess and that is related to the guts and liver… The rise of Allergies in the last 20 years is alarming. 30 to 40 % of the world's population have an allergy and in the next decade, it will go to 50%.So richer the country is so higher the rate of Allergy.Detox your body, foremost your guts, your liver, I have written already about that. You can detox the guts with Betonite clay and Psyllium Husk. Read my WordPress Blog How to detox the guthttps://ask-rudy.com/how-to-detox-the-gut/Liver detox with the supplement Milk Thistle. And to remove the stones in the liver and gallbladder with olive oil and grapefruit juiceRead my WordPress Blog: How to do a liver cleanse https://ask-rudy.com/how-to-do-a-liver-cleanse.Eat a fermented raw vegetable or take Pro-Biotic every day…The magic of sweet potatoes.Eat every day sweet potatoes raw or cooked, the purple or red potatoes, that are inside purple or red, are the best for your body! Because then you get a healthy digestion.Reduce or better don't eat or drink.Junk food.Industrially processed food.Alcohol. Drugs. Fatty food. White sugar. Meat/fish. Instead, embrace a plant-based diet without gluten…Reduce Stress Take everyday natural antihistamines.QuercitinBromelainNAC Supplement (N-Acetyl Cysteine)Alkelising vitamin CWatercressGinger, TurmericBoswelliaSpirulinaOrangesProbiotics with 25-50billThis means you combine Quercitin with Bromelin as a supplement.Choose Probiotics that give you the best digestion…You can add Vitamin C… With Spirulina you can heal an allergy if you take 4 times 2 grams of Spirulina per day. Guess your allergy will completely disappear or the symptoms will be reduced. If all the strategies above are not enough to heal your Allergy, reduce or stop eating wheat, rice, or other grains because they produce a slime inside the gut where harmful organisms, bacteria, and fungus like candida grow! I don't eat any grains or meat, … I eat only raw vegetables, fruits 30g of flaxseed, and 3 Brazil nuts per day. Look what works for you! There are about a dozen main causes leading to environmental and food allergies...Leaky gutsIntestines bacteriaAntibiotics, birth control drugs.Poor eating, like fried food, a lot of gluten, dairy products, eggs,Inflammatory foods.Food sensitivesHeavy metals High stressHowever, there is one main root cause. That root cause imbalance begins and ends in the gut, which then leads to a host of symptoms that differ based on the individual...Do you have Candida grown in your guts? Candida is a fungal infection caused by an overgrowth of yeast in your body. Causes may include taking certain drugs (especially antibiotics, corticosteroids, and some birth control pills), pregnancy, being overweight, having a bacterial infection, or several different health conditions (for example, a weakened immune system, diabetes, and psoriasis). 67% of the Western population have Candida!Stop antibiotics, because they kill healthy bacteria and after taking antibiotics the harmful bacteria will grow. You can substitute antibiotics with Colloidal silver if this works for you…I can't take antibiotics or some other medicaments, so I substitute them. Problems with the stomach acid …If we do have not a healthy level of acid (not enough acid) in our stomachs, harmful bacteria and organisms can enter the gut.Chronic inflammation…If we have a genetic preposition for allergy …Our genetics don't dictate our future or destiny! All inflammation starts in the gut.,We need a healthy Microbiome. We have to go to the root cause of the inflammation caused by allergy. Description of the supplements. QuercetinQuercetin is an antioxidant found naturally in onions, apples, grapefruit, okra, and other produce.A 2022 study by Trusted Source found that it may also work as an antihistamine and be able to effectively reduce allergy symptoms. You can purchase quercetin as a supplement, or simply add more quercetin-rich foods to your diet (the better choice of these two options).BromelainBromelain is a compound most commonly found in pineapples, but you can also find it in supplement form. It's known to be effective at treating respiratory distress and inflammation associated with allergies.A 2023 analysis found that bromelain may be effective against sinusitis, a type of inflammation of the nasal passage caused by allergies or a cold.Experts recommended getting bromelain by eating pineapple rather than by taking supplements.ButterburButterbur is a marsh plant that's part of the daisy family. It's found throughout Europe and in regions of Asia and North America.Older 2012 research by Trusted Source suggests it might be effective in reducing the intensity and frequency of migraine attacks. But it may also help treat nasal allergies. A 2023 study found that butterbur was a safe and effective natural treatment option for people with seasonal allergic rhinitis.Butterbur is available as an oil extract or as a supplement.Ginger is a histamine blocker or antihistamine but is also great for the immune system. Shave off a small piece of ginger and put it in a mug. Pour hot water over it and steep for 3-5 minutes. Then drink and enjoy.Turmeric is a spice that can prevent the release of histamine from mast cells and can even inhibit anaphylactic reactions. It can be used in cooking or can be made into a tea. Roasted, pastured, organic chicken rubbed with turmeric, garlic and thyme served with broccoli and sweet potatoes, is the perfect meal to combat allergies. After last research, stinger nettle will not work for allergies!Quercetin review…Most supplements are fake and don't have Quercetin or only a small fraction are proclaimed. Quercetin is naturally yellow.Take 500mg twice a day best with healthy fat.The best Quercetin supplements1. In one of the talks today, there were some esteemed musicians. One of them was a world-famous Carnatic musician. What we heard from his accolades, when he was introduced today was that he was an expert at an early age. If anybody wants to guess how early that was, it was 2 years old, and he just went upwards from there. In any case, he was talking about the way in which one may become proficient in music. There's a similar culture in learning music in classical Indian music, Carnatic music in particular, which has to do with getting tutelage from a guru, a musical Guru, and following a particular sampradaya. Because there's always variety in everything, one of the statements that he made stuck with me. He said, did this famous teacher, “Learn from one source for a long time”. He said, “Learn from one source for a long time,” where he said you may have a confusion in your mind. It becomes like a traffic jam of many different styles in music. So, this is something Krishna recommends… (excerpt from the talk ) https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For more videos please visit www.fanthespark.com

Audrey Hepburn once said, "To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow."Hope and faith are a pair that cannot be separated. Your current belief system shapes your faith, whereas hope is what you wish for in the future. You cannot succeed and overcome obstacles if you lack hope and faith. Although faith is a key component in many religions it isn't the focal point of faith. You have to have faith in your decisions. This week on The Trusted Source, we talk about the importance of hope and faith in life and how to strengthen both. Hope and faith = improved thinking.
I (age 65) took Maca for 2 months and I got my drive back. We have to understand that our drive to do things is from our sexuality… And that proclaimed Freud and nobody could prove that he is wrong!!! We need our sexuality to perform great… And for that we take Maca. When women are starting to get their menopause, their hormones are getting out of balance and that causes so many problems… And we can solve that with Maca, too. What are the benefits of Maca root?Maca is a Peruvian plant that may have various health benefits, such as boosting libido, increasing energy, and improving mood. It may also help manage menopause symptoms and blood pressure.Maca grows in the Andes mountains. It is a cruciferous vegetable, meaning that it is related to broccoli, cabbage, and kale.Maca is a common ingredient in Peruvian cooking that gives dishes an earthy flavor. The Maca root plant can be ground up into a powder and added to meals or smoothies.Aside from its culinary uses, Maca may also have several health benefits. There is a range of potential benefits of Maca root, including:1. Increasing libidoStudies suggest that Maca root helps increase libido.A 2015 study by Trusted Source found that Maca root may help reduce sexual dysfunction in postmenopausal women who were taking an antidepressant.2. Reducing erectile dysfunctionThe Maca root has benefits for people with erectile dysfunction (ED). 3. Boosting energy and enduranceSome athletes and bodybuilders use Maca root as a supplement to increase energy and performance. Some evidence exists to support this.4. Increasing fertilityAnother widespread use of Maca root is to increase fertility, particularly in men.5. Improving moodMaca contains flavonoids, which are thought to improve mood and reduce anxiety. A study of 14 postmenopausal women found that Maca may reduce feelings of anxiety and depression.6. Reducing blood pressureMaca root can also help to improve blood pressure. 7. Reducing sun damageMaca might help protect the skin from UV rays. 8. Fighting free radicalsMaca root also promotes natural antioxidants in the body, such as glutathione and superoxide dismutase.Antioxidants help to fight off free radicals, which can damage cells in the body. 9. Reducing menopause symptomsMaca root can help balance levels of the hormone estrogen. During perimenopause, the stage before a woman reaches menopause, estrogen levels fluctuate and cause a variety of symptoms.10. Improving learning and memoryMaca can help improve learning and memory performance.RisksMaca is not currently associated with any health risks in most people and is unlikely to cause any side effects in moderate doses. If we supplement Maca, we take one capsule of 750mg (6:1 concentrated) two times per day with our food. We need to take Maca for at least 2 months to get the benefits and we continuously take Maca.Maca needs to grow at a high altitude, otherwise, it will not produce any benefit. Benefits of Steam: Increases circulation Sitting in a steam room has been shown to improve the cardiovascular system, especially in the elderly. According to a 2012 study Trusted Source, moist heat, such as that provided by a steam room, can improve circulation by dilating small blood vessels or capillaries. "Problematic relationship patterns If a person thinks they may be in a relationship with a sexual narcissist, there are behavior patterns to be aware of, including: Sexual entitlement: A sexual narcissist may feel that others owe them sex and that they have a right to sex on demand. Sexual exploitation: They may be willing to manipulate or coerce others into having sex. Lack of empathy: They may feel that a partner's feelings or needs do not concern them. Need for admiration: They may have an excessive need for admiration, especially for their sexual abilities. Infidelity: Higher rates of infidelity occur with sexual narcissists. Charming pickup artist: Sexual narcissists will initially be charming and employ manipulative dating techniques designed specifically to get a potential partner into bed. Sexual aggression: High levels of sexual narcissism and entitlement may be Trusted Source a predictor of sexual aggression. Convincing a potential sexual narcissist to get help may escalate their behavior since they may not perceive they have a problem and may attempt to put the blame on others. If a partner shows any abusive, angry, or violent behavior, it is advisable to develop a safety plan. Resources are available to help. People can contact the National Domestic Violence Hotline by calling 1.800.799.SAFE (7233) or texting 88788. They may also wish to seek the help of a trusted friend or family member for additional support. Treatment for sexual narcissism Currently, there is no cure, treatment, or medication to treat NPD, narcissistic traits, or sexual narcissism specifically. However, psychotherapy can be beneficial and enable people to understand their behavior, manage emotions, and take responsibility for their actions. It can also help them build self-esteem and healthier relationships. While there is not much research investigating treatment for sexual narcissism, speaking with a therapist may be a useful approach for people with NPD. Although the conditions are different, this would suggest that psychotherapy may also be effective for people with sexual narcissism. Research Trusted Source indicates that some narcissistic traits may decline with age, suggesting that it is not a fixed state of being and change is possible. This indicates that with therapeutic intervention, the ways a sexual narcissist relates to and interacts with others can improve. However, it can be very difficult for a sexual narcissist to initiate therapy, as they may not always see an issue in their behavior. If a person suspects they are in a relationship with someone who has sexual narcissism, they may consider working with a therapist or counselor to learn strategies that may help the relationship, if they want to continue it. Therapy may also provide the necessary support if a person decides to leave the relationship." --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/antonio-myers4/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/antonio-myers4/support

I'm Stacey Simms and these are the top diabetes stories and headlines of the past seven days. I'm on the road – again! This time I'm at podcast movement a big convention going on in Nashville.. so apologies if the audio and video are a little bit off but I think we're good enough. And As always, I'm going to link up my sources in the Facebook comments – where we are live – and in the show notes at d-c dot com when this airs as a podcast.. so you can read more when you have the time. XX In the News is brought to you by Real Good Foods! Excited to have them back as a sponsor – we're big fans. Real Food You Feel Good About Eating. XX Our top story this week… a brief comment about diabetes devices at the FDA might give a hint to some timelines we're all watching. FDA Center for Devices and Radiological Health head Jeffrey Shuren says COVID-19 remains a source of uncertainty. "Goal is to be back to normal as we roll into 2022," Shuren said. "But there are a lot of variables that could impact that… don't know if we'll get hit with another tsunami of submissions for full marketing authorization for a lot of the COVID products. Getting back on track, everything is moving for the diabetes submissions." Products in front of the FDA expected by year's end: Medtronic's 780G and Zeus CGM, Insulet's Omnipod 5, Tandem's bolus by phone and it's expected that Dexcom's G7 will be submitted soon. https://seekingalpha.com/news/3715640-fda-devices-head-says-progress-being-made-on-diabetes-devices-backlog XX The FDA did clear one diabetes product this past week.. Abott's Freestyle Libre 2 iOS app. The Libre 2 hardware was approved last year.. this is the app for Apple phones.. it gives users optional real time high and low alarms – still have to scan to see the actual values. It updates every minute – only CGM that does – and it lets caregivers remotely monitor. Freestyle Libre 2 has a 14 day wear.. no exact date on when the App will be available or when it'll be available for android users. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/abbotts-freestyle-libre-2-ios-130000861.html XX Other side of the coin, Abbot will pay $160 million to resolve claims that two of its units submitted false claims to Medicare. The Justice Department said free glucose monitors were provided to get patients to order more testing supplies, and the companies routinely waived copayments. They were also accused of charging Medicare for ineligible patients and for more than 200 patients who were actually dead. https://www.reuters.com/business/healthcare-pharmaceuticals/us-says-abbott-units-pay-160-mln-resolve-alleged-false-medicare-claims-2021-08-02/ XX Back to the FDA.. for the first time, they're allowing a less expensive brand name insulin to be substituted for the original. Semglee – approved last year – is basically the same as Lantus but it's a lot less expensive. Semglee is now is the first-ever to earn the “interchangeable” designation Trusted Source, meaning it's fully approved to be substituted for Lantus at the pharmacy. No need to get permission from the doctor. This is the second copycat of Lantus; the first was Eli Lilly's Basaglar, launched in 2016. There is some new branding and labeling needed here, so expect a relaunch of Semglee by the end of this year. FYI the pens are a little different even if the insulin in them is the same. It's always a good idea to know what your doctor is prescribing and what your pharmacist is giving you.. even if it costs less. XX Big new studies focusing on children and teens with type 2 diabetes.. showing how different the disease can be in younger people. The studies, published July 29 in the New England Journal of Medicine, showed that within 15 years of a Type 2 diabetes diagnosis, 60% of participants had at least one diabetes-related complication, and nearly a third of participants had two or more. These Texas researchers call it astonishing and say it appears type 2 in youth is much more aggressive than in older people. These researchers say more treatment options are needed for younger people because lifestyle changes don't seem to be enough. The study also showed a lot of families don't have regular access to medication or health care providers. They say it was a diverse study representative of teens and kids in the US. https://medicalxpress.com/news/2021-08-young-adults-complications-diabetes.html XX More to come, including new about people with diabetes who stop taking a very commonly prescribed medication.. but first, I want to tell you about one of our great sponsors who helps make Diabetes Connections possible. Real Good Foods! We've been fans for a long time – Benny especially likes their ice cream. Real Good Foods makes delicious food you'll feel good about eating; high in protein, grain free and always made from real, nutrient dense ingredients. The labels are easy to read – because the ingredients aren't chemicals and fillers. Whether it's waffles or burrito bowls or stuffed chicken or the pizza that started it all.. I think you'll really love Real Good Foods. Learn more with the link in the FB comments or as always at d-c dot com. Back to the news… XX Interesting research using artificial intelligence to catch diabetes eye issues earlier – when they're easier to treat. Changes in the blood vessels in the retina cause diabetic retinopathy, the most common diabetic eye disease and a leading cause of blindness in US adults. There are several studies and institutes looking at the use of A-I here, but these folks at the Indiana University School of Optometry say they're using information that is often ignored for diagnosis and it's making a big difference. The National Institutes of Health's National Eye Institute funded the work. https://www.futurity.org/biomarkers-diabetic-retinopathy-blindness-vision-2604812/ XX Nearly half of adults prescribed metformin after a new diagnosis of type 2 have stopped taking it by 1 year. The fall off is most dramatic during the first 30 days. These researchers say it didn't matter how long the prescription was written for and most who discontinued still had A1C's high enough to still need glucose lowering medication. They say as physicians quote - A lot of times we're quick to prescribe metformin and forget about it...Physicians might write a script for 3 months and three refills and not see the patient again for a year...We may need to keep a closer eye on these folks and have more regular follow-up, and make sure they're getting early diabetes education." https://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/955893 XX That's In the News for this week.. if you like it, please share it! And quick note this is our 400th episode. I've been busy with some behind the scenes stuff and it caught up to me! A huge thank you to all of you.. incredible support from this community. Six years and 400 episodes is an accomplishment that I've only reached because of you. And join me wherever you get podcasts for our next episode -Tuesday – I'm talking to Eoin Costello the host of his own diabetes podcast – about staying active or starting getting more fit with type 1. This week's interview – the one that's out right now – is a look at the features of Omnipod 5 – the newest hybrid closed loop system in front of the FDA. Thanks and I'll see you soon
Sary gets real and shares her story- the nitty, the gritty and where she's found resilience and inspiration. From healing trauma to avoiding drama, how to rock being a single mom amidst it all and what she's got up her sleeve to share with the world. Fact Check:1. Malcolm GladwellAnne-Marie misquoted Malcolm Gladwell's studies. Correction: As Gladwell noted, they found that it took a remarkable amount of time on such practice—some 10 years' worth or 10,000 hours to gain mastery. This theory has been challenged many times. You get decide what you believe! For more info, click here.2. Jehovah's WitnessesA person note from Anne-Marie: In this episode, Sary discusses her experience as a Jehovah's Witness. Since this podcast is about girlfriends sitting together and relating, some of the words, analogies and/or metaphors used to relate her experience are out of line with the belief systems of Jehovah's Witnesses. This podcast is about completing the full circle, so we invited a trusted source to bring forth another voice of the Jehovah's Witnesses. This person has outlined some perspectives below to accurately "clear up" some burdensome language that Sary and myself do not wish to carry as we open ourselves to expressing and vocalizing our life experiences. I spoke to Sary about this content and she shared with me that over 30 years The intention of including this content in the Episodes Notes is to express a sense of respect and honor to all voices and attempting to accurately provide commentary to further align to our intention- creating a safe space for all. We represent respect, responsibility and freedom of expression. If you have any additional comments or feedback, please feel free to reach us at everythingouttherepodcast@gmail.com so we can continue the conversation. With love, Anne-MarieJehovah's Witnesses:"A. Active, practicing, Jehovah's Witnesses would not use the word "preachers kid". In fact, they would use it to discredit your knowledge of the religion. They consider themselves and I quote “no part of the world”, and that includes most religions terminologies. They don't go to church they go to meetings. Men in the kingdom hall that had positions would be considered elders, ministerial servant‘s, circuit overseer‘s etc… The only way "preacher" would be used in that way would be if they were describing "preaching the good news" from door to door. B. Sary mentioned she could sell magazines. It is very important to Jehovah's Witnesses that they are a recognized donation-based religion funded on brotherly love. They never sell their own literature. This has changed since Sary was small.C. Jehovah's Witnesses do not believe humans go to hell. They believe you just die, and when the world is made into a paradise you will be resurrected back onto earth or you will survive Armageddon and the great tribulation and make the world a paradise so your loved ones can come back to this planet as a perfect paradise like the garden of eden. And just a side note on why I corrected any of this...Jehovah's Witnesses are taught to really look for the small in accuracies of people that are speaking out against them .so that they can discredit them to the congregation a.k.a. the church. Any small verbal slip up would for them be used to discredit the fact that you were even a strong participant in the congregation. It would immediately discredit you because you weren't using the proper wordage. It would show to them that you were not knowledgeable of the full truth; that you didn't educate yourself fully on Jehovah‘s teachings, and that you were coming from a place of ignorance. So the wording is actually very important to them because it's what they use to discredit anyone that goes up against them - it's part of their teaching technique.I love everything that I am hearing and I am so proud of you guys! You have beautiful souls!" - A Trusted Source

“While Vasudeva was carrying his son Krishna in the falling rain, Lord Shesha in the shape of a serpent spread His hood over the head of Vasudeva so that he would not be hampered by the rainfall. Vasudeva came onto the bank of the Yamuna and saw that the water of the Yamuna was roaring with waves and that the whole span was full of foam. Still, in that furious feature, the river gave passage to Vasudeva to cross, just as the great Indian Ocean gave a path to Lord Rama when He was bridging over the gulf.” (Krishna, The Supreme Personality of Godhead, Vol 1, Ch 3)

Few Foods That Boost our Immune System Citrus fruits Like grapefruit, oranges, tangerines, lemons, limes, clementines, etc. Vitamin C is thought to increase the production of white blood cells. These are key to fighting infections. Because your body doesn't produce or store it, you need daily vitamin C for continued health. Almost all citrus fruits are high in vitamin C. With such a variety to choose from, it's easy to add a squeeze of this vitamin to any meal. Red bell peppers If you think citrus fruits have the most vitamin C of any fruit or vegetable, think again because red bell peppers contain twice as much vitamin C as citrus. They are also a rich source of beta carotene. Besides boosting your immune system, vitamin C may help maintain healthy skin. Beta carotene helps keep your eyes and skin healthy. Broccoli Broccoli is supercharged with vitamins and minerals. Packed with vitamins A, C, and E, as well as many other antioxidants and fiber, broccoli is one of the healthiest vegetables you can put on your table. The key to keeping its power intact is to cook it as little as possible or better yet, not at all. Garlic Garlic is found in almost every cuisine in the world. It adds a little zing to food and it's a must-have for your health. Early civilizations recognized their value in fighting infections. According to the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health Trusted Source, garlic may also help lower blood pressure and slow down the hardening of the arteries. Garlic’s immune-boosting properties seem to come from a heavy concentration of sulfur-containing compounds, such as allicin. Ginger Ginger is another ingredient many turns to after getting sick. Ginger may help decrease inflammation, which can help reduce a sore throat and other inflammatory illnesses. Ginger may also help decrease nausea. While it's used in many sweet desserts, ginger packs some heat in the form of gingerol, a relative of capsaicin. Ginger may help decrease chronic pain and may possess cholesterol-lowering properties, according to recent animal research Trusted Source. Spinach Spinach made our list not just because it's rich in vitamin C. It's also packed with numerous antioxidants and beta carotene, which may increase the infection-fighting ability of our immune systems. Similar to broccoli, spinach is healthiest when it’s cooked as little as possible so that it retains its nutrients. However, light cooking enhances its vitamin A and allows other nutrients to be released from oxalic acid. Yogurt Look for yogurts that have "live and active cultures" printed on the label, like Greek yogurt. These cultures may stimulate your immune system to help fight diseases. #health #fitness #healthylifestyle #knowandask #healthytips #fruits #Yogurt #food More at knowandask.... Please leave us a review at http://openskyfitness.com/review Help Your Children Create Healthy Habits with Food "If you can present health in an interesting and fun way to children, they will make a change." - Dr. Bill Sears Helping your children to create healthy habits by eating nutritious, whole foods can be quite the challenge. So this week on the Open Sky Fitness Podcast, we invited Dr. Bill Sears aka The Trusted Source for Parents to come on the show and share his tricks and tips to give children the small nudge they need to start thinking about being healthy for life. We also took some time at the beginning of the show to answer a question from the Open Sky Fitness Podcast group on Facebook about static stretching vs dynamic stretching in relation to pre-workout and/or post-workout Shaping Young Tastes "You don't get fat by eating healthy fats. You get fat by eating junk carbs." - Dr. Bill Sears It's basically impossible to get kids to eat all of their vegetables at dinner or eat a piece of fruit instead of a cookie as a snack. But if we associate health foods with something that is relevant and important to the child, eating healthy could become a major focus for them. Simply call a group of foods something like "soccer food, "tall food," or "pretty hair food." If your child is having a hard time believing you, ask a mentor such as a sports coach or teacher to help step in. Dr. Bill's Rules of Two It takes two months to help a child like healthy foods. To help them stay on track, teach and remind them of this saying that Dr. Bill came up with: "Eat twice as often, eat half as much, and chew twice as long." The Best Nutrition for Babies "A mother's milk contains the very nutrients that the brain loves such as the best fats and that's why healthier and smarter babies tend to be breast-fed. Mother Nature intended it to be that way." - Dr. Bill Sears A mother's milk is vital for a healthy brain and according to the latest research, babies could benefit from it most if they're breast-fed for up to 3 years. When a baby begins to eat solid foods, Dr. Sears recommends including avocados and salmon. At 6 months, babies can begin to eat avocados and salmon at 7 months to help develop a healthy brain. Why avocados? Because the brain is the No.1 organ affected by nutrition and healthy fats are a great way to introduce healthy, fatty, solid foods. The 5 S Diet "The root cause of most illnesses and ailments is inflammation because our immune system is out of balance. We're a sicker society than we've ever been. People will object and say, "Well, we're living longer." That's true, but we're living sicker. Our health spans, not our life spans, is what's really important." - Dr. Bill Sears To help prevent inflammation, Dr. Bill suggests following the 5 S Diet: The 5 S Diet Salmon (Wild Alaskan Salmon) Smoothies with healthy fats Salads Snack Smart Science-based Supplements What Not to Eat to Avoid Inflammation "The organ most defected by artificial sweeteners is the brain. When you consume aspartame, the crave center in the brain lights up and you crave more sweeteners. You don't lose weight by drinking a diet cola. Soft drinks are the number one cause of inflammation." - Dr. Bill Sears Avoid anything with: Added sugars on food labels Chemical foods that include High Fructose Corn Syrup Artificial Sweeteners Flavor Enhancers MSG Don't Do Diet Drinks About Dr. Bill Sears Dr. Sears, or Dr. Bill as his “little patients” call him, has been advising busy parents on how to raise healthier families for over 40 years. He received his medical training at Harvard Medical School’s Children’s Hospital in Boston and The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, the world’s largest children’s hospital, where he was associate ward chief of the newborn intensive care unit before serving as the chief of pediatrics at Toronto Western Hospital, a teaching hospital of the University of Toronto. He has served as a professor of pediatrics at the University of Toronto, University of South Carolina, University of Southern California School of Medicine, and University of California: Irvine. As a father of 8 children, he coached Little League sports for 20 years, and together with his wife Martha has written more than 40 best-selling books and countless articles on nutrition, parenting, and healthy aging. He serves as a health consultant for magazines, TV, radio and other media, and his AskDrSears.com website is one of the most popular health and parenting sites. Dr. Sears has appeared on over 100 television programs, including 20/20, Good Morning America, Oprah, Today, The View, and Dr. Phil, and was featured on the cover of TIME Magazine in May 2012.
