We discuss the firing of Tucker Carlson by Fox News, and some of the circumstances surrounding it, including: The pressure of lawsuits related to Dominion Voting Machines, former Fox producer Abby Grossberg, and Ray Epps, who has been targeted by Tucker and others as the primary person responsible for violence that took place on January 6th. We also talk about Tucker's role in pushing the recent indictment of members of the African Peoples' Socialist Party (APSP) as a strictly political targeting of radical Black leftists, and the role Tucker has played in overhauling the Heritage Foundation. This week's episode is a conversation between two white Americans, directed at calling our white listeners into a conversation about race. To our non-white listeners, we invite you to listen and reach out if there is anything we could improve on. We are still unlearning & relearning, but to stay silent is to be complicit so we are using what platform we have to hold space for this essential conversation. Robin DeAngelo popularized the term white fragility with her book, White Fragility: Why It's So Hard for White People to Talk About Racism. This book is a great place to start if you're a white person looking to unlearn some of your internalized racism. There is some controversy surrounding it, so I will say it is not a perfect book - but no single book on racism ever will be. An easy break down of the concept of white fragility can be found in these articles: https://www.newyorker.com/books/page-turner/a-sociologist-examines-the-white-fragility-that-prevents-white-americans-from-confronting-racism https://www.tolerance.org/magazine/summer-2019/whats-my-complicity-talking-white-fragility-with-robin-diangelo A much more in depth, scientific dive into the concept can be found in this journal article by Robin herself: https://libjournal.uncg.edu/ijcp/article/viewFile/249/116 White Rage is a term popularized by Carol Anderson's book White Rage: The Unspoken Truth of Our Racial Divide. I haven't read this one, so I can't speak to it. However, a fantastic breakdown of how white rage has divided this country since President Obama's election can be found here: https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/is-white-rage-driving-our-racial-divide/2016/06/22/fbeec9fc-22a8-11e6-aa84-42391ba52c91_story.html White Dominate Culture Norms are the norms & standard practices that exist throughout this country that make public spaces more comfortable & safe for white people than anybody else. Here is a great, short list of examples and their alternatives! https://www.cacgrants.org/assets/ce/Documents/2019/WhiteDominantCulture.pdf Finally, if you're in the UK I suggest Why I'm No Longer Talking to White People About Race, by Reni Eddo-Lodge. It is written by an incredible Black, feminist, British woman who explores the specific brand of racism that exists in the UK. For other areas of the world, please reach out - I'm happy to help find resources that are specific to your geopolitical location. Racism & white supremacy are a global problem, but they do show up a bit differently depending on where you're located.
W 2008 roku napisałem pierwszy artykuł o sporcie i cukrzycy. Michał Jeliński – wioślarz, mistrz olimpijski z Igrzysk Olimpijskich w Pekinie i czterokrotny Mistrz Świata w osadzie czwórki podwójnej. Trzykrotnie startował na letnich igrzyskach olimpijskich. W Pekinie w 2008 osada w składzie Michał Jeliński, Marek Kolbowicz, Adam Korol i Konrad Wasielewski wywalczyła złoty medal. Został odznaczony Krzyżem Kawalerskim Orderu Odrodzenia Polski (2008). In this episode I talk about my own journey to opening my mind to examining and thinking about, and trying to understand racism. It's a difficult and painful concept, and always uncomfortable to think and talk about, but vitally important if we want to create change so nobody feels like "other" and equal opportunity actually is a thing! E como podemos ter certeza do tamanho e formato de países e continentes?[SIGA NO TWITTER: https://twitter.com/RandomicoPod / https://twitter.com/josuedeOlivCOMPRE MEU CONTO NA AMAZON: https://amzn.to/31cHvOm]REFERÊNCIAS DESTE EPISÓDIO:History of mapping. https://www.icsm.gov.au/education/fundamentals-mapping/history-mappingMap. https://www.britannica.com/science/map12 Maps That Changed the World, por Uri Friedman (entrevista com Jerry Brotton). https://www.theatlantic.com/international/archive/2013/12/12-maps-that-changed-the-world/282666/The problem with our maps, por Nick Routley. https://www.businessinsider.com/the-mercator-projection-distorts-countries-2017-6Get to Know a Projection: Mercator, por Nick Stockton. https://www.wired.com/2013/07/projection-mercator/Politics and Cartography: The Power of Deception through Distortion. https://www.carnegiecouncil.org/publications/ethics_online/politics-and-cartography-the-power-of-deception-through-distortionProjeções cartográficas. https://mundoeducacao.uol.com.br/geografia/projecoes-cartograficas.htmMapas de crime: vigilância distribuída e participação na cibercultura, por Fernanda Bruno. http://www.e-compos.org.br/e-compos/article/viewFile/409/352 TRILHA SONORAIs That You or Are You You? by Chris Zabriskie http://chriszabriskie.comCreative Commons — Attribution 4.0 International — CC BY 4.0Free Download / Stream: https://bit.ly/Oi342ysMusic promoted by Audio Library https://youtu.be/mL8255oswZo

In this episode Amanda and Andrew examine white fragility, particularly Robin DiAngelo's influential 2011 paper "White Fragility" and the 2018 best-selling book by the same name. Topics include overcoming uncomfortable experiences, becoming authentically anti-racist, de-centering white feelings and experiences, and how capitalism and racism combine with other hierarchies to sustain inequality.Read DiAngleo's 2011 paper here: libjournal.uncg.edu/ijcp/article/viewFile/249/116Support DRUUMM here: druumm.org/Support Black Lives UU here: www.blacklivesuu.com/donateIntro: "Beyond Vietnam" by Rev. Quero saber. Following "Cattle Free by '93" sentiment of the 80s and 90s has come growth in the middle ground, supported by both increasing recognition of the ecosystem goods and services provided by grazed rangelands as well as improvements in grazing management. The value of large public lands is largely dependent on adjacent private lands. Charismatic megafauna that characterize the American West will, perhaps ironically, only survive if large livestock ranches remain profitable. Rick Knight, conservation biologist at Colorado State University, discusses with Tip the unequal ecological value of private lands, the rise of the radical center, and the economics of maintaining habitat through ranching. In her mourning, she rent her garment/tore her dress. The Greek word for “dress” here is “Ketonit Passim” or simply, a “princess dress” (2 Samuel 13: 18-19) If we take this interpretation (which, it has to be at least one possible interpretation, because it’s there in the text), and apply it to the Joseph story, it is possible that Joseph’s brothers attacked him and tore his robe because there was something transgressive about the clothing he was wearing -- perhaps he was wearing a “princess dress”? Mucus grosses people out. Whether it’s coming out of your nose or slime oozing from an animal, it’s not really a pleasant substance. But scientifically, mucus is super cool—it can be used for protection, hunting, lubrication, or plain old stickiness. Why do some cephalopods spew out specialized mucus? Does slathering snail slime on your face actually do anything to your skin? And could eating boogers be… good? On the afternoon of the 6th January, 2005 Robert Holohan rode his brand new silver BMX bike down his drive and out onto the roads of Ballyedmond, a townland north of Midleton in rural East Cork. When Robert didn't return home that evening, and had not answered his new phone, a search began that would bring people from all over the country to the area to volunteer to look for the 11 year old, alongside the Gardai and the army. But, just over a week later, Roberts body was found in a deep ditch, caught up in brambles, alongside Inch Strand. He was 12 miles from his home. The Garda investigation worked quickly, and it soon became apparent that Robert had not gotten far from home, before he was killed. On this week’s pod, Ana (@anamariecox) sat down with Robin DiAngelo, author of the book White Fragility: Why It’s So Hard for White People to Talk About Racism. To kick things off, Robin explained what white fragility is, and the impact that it has not just on white people, but white progressives in particular. Ana and Robin then talked about the need for people who recognize racism’s ills not to get complacent or arrogant, but rather be actively anti-racist, and continue educating themselves. They then switched gears, and explored why white women often fail to be allies for people of color before probing the ways de facto segregation and tokenizing minorities are so deeply problematic. Ana and Robin also put forth a series of suggestions for what well-meaning white people should do when they put their foot in their mouths and say something racist. You can find Robin’s book here: https://www.amazon.com/White-Fragility-People-About-Racism/dp/0807047414 Robin referenced an article she wrote, which you can find here: https://libjournal.uncg.edu/ijcp/article/viewFile/249/116 Get in touch with us on Twitter at @crooked_friends or email us at withfriendslikepod@gmail.com. Last week you heard Eli Bosnick's side of why the 'Conceptual Penis' hoax paper was disingenuous and unskeptical, and today I speak with one of the paper's authors, James Lindsay. James has been a previous guest on the show; he's been someone I have always admired for his intellectual rigor and willingness to back up what he believes and to have the tough conversations. For that much I really, really respect him coming on. But I can't hide my opinion on this hoax. I think it was garbage and it was latched onto unskeptically by people who fancy themselves critical thinkers. I challenge James on the paper and we get to hear his side of it. Today's episode is actually 2 in 1, because after the conversation I reminded James to send me the links corroborating his arguments. When I received them, I was appalled that each description of the scholarly articles he sent was a lazy and ideologically motivated strawman. As such, I emailed him a heads up that I would be going in depth into his sources and describing exactly how he (or maybe Real Peer Review, if that was his source) is either intentionally or just ignorantly misunderstanding these abstracts. I'm incredibly disappointed at this dishonest or careless behavior. If you are going to waltz into a field that ISN'T your expertise and claim that the bulk of it is bunk, it is incumbent upon you to do the research and know what you're talking about.

Reindeer meat could’ve entered North American cuisine and culture, but our turn of the century efforts to develop a reindeer industry were stymied by nature, the beef lobby, and the Great Depression. On this episode, we dive right back into a “clean cut” examination of the infamous Mark Hofmann. We cover from the end of 1983 up to the bombings in October of 1985. Even with nearly 3 hours of audio, there’s a lot being left out. Hopefully we’ll be able to wrap things up next week, but no promises… Show Links: Website http://nakedmormonismpodcast.com Twitter @NakedMormonism Facebook https://www.facebook.com/pages/Naked-Mormonism/370003839816311 Patreon http://patreon.com/nakedmormonism Outro music by Jason Comeau http://aloststateofmind.com/ Show Artwork http://weirdmormonshit.com/ Voicemail Line (864)Nake-dMo (625-3366) Links: Tracking the White Salamander http://utlm.org/onlinebooks/trackingch1.htm The Caravan Moves On Bruce R.
