Deep Thoughts on Shallow Subjects Our newest episode is a Deep Thoughts on Shallow Subjects drafting our favorite MCU Villains. This was an easy transition after discussing Captain America: The Winter Soldier last week. In retrospect, we probably should have cut this at ten a piece but we can't turn down an opportunity to add more people/movies to a draft. Byers pulls out his great Obadiah Stane impression and Troy tries to confuse the proceedings by explaining his picks out of order. Intro/Outro music by friend of the podcast Seth Gilbertson. Now now I know what you're thinking the Youngkings disappear again for months and come back just to act as if nothing happened. Well, let me tell you exactly what happened in that time frame.....After testing the quantum time machine on Elijah, who confirms that it works, The Kings are reunited with a plan - Carlos and others embark to retrieve the Time, Mind, and Space stones during the battle of New York in 2012. Elijah goes to the Sanctum Sanctorum, where he is informed by the Ancient One that taking the Time Stone from her timeline would prevent Stephen Strange's future efforts to stop Kaecilius from destroying the laws of nature. However, when Elijah tells her that Strange gave up the Time Stone willingly to Thanos, she allows Banner to have it, implying Strange had intended for a specific sequence of events to occur for Thanos to be defeated. Banner also promises the stones' return to their proper timelines in order to prevent any ill effects. Carlos and Elijah attempt to steal the Space Stone after the Avengers confiscate it from Loki. So now you know do what you want with that information. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/the-youngkings/support

Is the source of Arthur Harrow's powers the same Dark Magic previously seen in the MCU? Go to http://avast.com to check out Avast One. Go to http://dadgrass.com/bigquestion to get 20% off your first order. As the Moon Knight series continues, we keep wondering if the purple-colored magic we see Arthur Harrow wield wherever he goes is the same Dark Magic we've seen used throughout the MCU. Is this the same Dark Magic used by villains like Kaecilius and Agatha Harkness?! In this episode of Big Question, MT and Off-Screen Producer Brandon lay out all the evidence we have to see if this force is the one and only Dark Magic! The meeting of minds is back! This week, Andy is hosting as the guys review and pitch sequels for the 2016 Marvel origin movie, Doctor Strange, directed by Scott Derrickson and starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Mads Mikkelsen, Rachel McAdams, Benedict Wong, Tilda Swinton and Chiwetel Ejiofor Expect multiverses, bizarre character names, a bit of a tangent into Patrick Rothfuss's Kingkiller Chronicles book series (go out and listen to them on Audible - no we're not sponsored by them) and some seriously underhanded pitch tactics from Drew. Honestly we'd expect it from Kaecilius, but not from him! Oh yeah, and listen out for Ross's impeccable impression of Matt as we do what we can to make sure we get his review thoughts on board! In the thrilling conclusion to season one of We Love That Podcast, the brothers three are reunited to discuss the greatest cinematic universe of all time: The Marvel Cinematic Universe. Let's just hope this episode is nothing like Whiplash, Malekith, Ronan, Kaecilius, Yellow Jacket, and the host of other typical MCU supervillains: generic, dull, and forgettable.
We talk about Doctor Strange and the things you missed if you never read the comics. Hear about Dr. Stephen Strange, Kamar-Taj, Yao the Ancient One, various dimensions, Dormammu, and more! Talk with us on Twitter. Links from the discussion… Dr. Stephen Strange's origin story as Doctor Strange in the movie is strikingly similar to that in the comics. Doctor Strange was created in 1963 which is the same year Lamborghini was founded, but the car he crashed in the comics looks more like an Aston Martin than a 1960's Lamborghini. Kamar-Taj is a remote community in the Himalayan mountains in or near Tibet. Yao the Ancient One is hundreds of years old and was born in Kamar-Taj. Mordo was from Transylvania in the comics and also attempted to gain power from Dormammu. Very much unlike the Doctor Strange movie Kaecilius was a disciple of Mordo in the comics. Wong was a servant of the Sorcerer Supreme which means he became Doctor Strange's servant in the comics. Dormammu from Doctor Strange is highly similar to Alioth from Loki. Doctor Strange's amulet, the Eye of Agamotto, never held an Infinity Stone in the comics but was also known as the All-Seeing Eye of Infinity. Doctor Strange's Cloak of Levitation was a gift given to him by the Ancient One after prevailing against Dormammu. Chiwetel Ejiofor confirms he's returning to the MCU as Mordo for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

"Doctor Strange" may be arrogant, but he's one of the most brilliant surgeons in the world. That is, until he has a horrific accident that causes him to lose his ability to perform medical miracles. Now he travels the world and seeks a miracle that would give him his life back. This leads him to Kamar-Taj and the Ancient One. She teaches him in the ways of the mystic arts and helps him to understand that he can save lives for less selfish reasons. But while he learns, a rogue sorcerer grows more powerful. He is named Kaecilius, and has stolen a page from an ancient text, in hopes of summoning a powerful dark force from the dark dimension in his obsessive quest for eternal life. Strange must learn quickly if there is any hope of stopping Kaecilius before it's too late. Jay and Josh have come to bargain with Dormammu on a hiatus special of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Case Files.
Quentin Beck aka Mysterio's debut in Spider-Man: Far From Home stole the show and Jake Gyllenhaal's performance as the master of trickery and illusions was praised by fans and critics alike. There is no doubt the MCU already has a slate of awesome villains such as Thanos, Loki and the Vulture (and also a lot of bad ones such as Kaecilius and Malekith), but how well does Mysterio contend against them for the spot of best villain of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (oh while ignoring the recent news)?

While most Avengers films feature whitty one liners and a big bad with super powers, The Russo Brothers knew that preparing for Avengers: Infinity War meant having a team up film unlike any we had seen before. Our roundtable members dive deep into the philosophical ideologies in Captain America Civil War, where Steve Rogers' trilogy ranks as the comic book film standard, and how Baron Zemo paved the way for villains like Killmonger, Kaecilius, and Adrian Tombs: villains who's motivations exceed the low expectations of most comic book films. This week things get strange... or should we say Dr. Strange! (Sorry). It’s Marvel’s luke-warm classic about medicine, magic and one very awkward American accent. Also Billy forces Christof to watch a trailer for the 1970’s Dr. Strange Tele-movie for some reason.Topics include: ‘magic’, 2016’s most controversial emails, astral projection mansplaining and Christof gets really shitty about a continuity error.Intro and outro music provided by bensound.comYou can follow Billy and Christof here:Billy - https://twitter.com/AqualecChristof - https://twitter.com/weeklygeek
The magical realm of Marvel exploded onto the screen in 2016's Doctor Strange. Following the titular hero, the film was the first in the MCU to portray real magic. Does this new ability mesh with the scientific world the MCU had become? How is Doctor Strange any different from Tony Stark? But most importantly, how does this film set up limitless possibilities for the future of the MCU? Open your mind and follow us as we discuss Doctor Strange!

Arrogance, identity, and redemption--the journey of Doctor Strange. Jay Sherer and Sam Welbaum review and discuss Scott Derrickson's film Doctor Strange. They start with a spoiler-free review, and then dig into some of the deeper themes. Questions posed by Doctor Strange, include: Steven Strange is an arrogant bastard, but he's also the best surgeon in the world. What's the relationship between arrogance and success? What rules govern that relationship? This movie has quite a bit to say about identity. What do you think the movie tells us about our identity? What can you draw out of it? What rules govern this multiverse and the multiple dimensions that are referenced here? “Healing through belief? I do not believe in fairytales. We are made of matter, and nothing more. There's no such thing as spirit!” Strange says. And then he's punched into the Astral plane and the multiverse. What do you think the relationship between the “spirit” or “soul” and the Astral Dimension? “I have to surrender to control it? That doesn't make sense!” Are we supposed to surrender, or should we work harder? Doctor Strange. The Matrix. Inception. These are all fanciful films, but they draw on the perceived reality of our own experiences. How do you think all these films are related? Kaecilius, The Ancient One, and Mordo all have different perspectives on “breaking the natural law.” What does it mean to “break the natural law"? Which character's perspective do you side with? Why? The Ancient One, at one point in the movie, turns to Steven Strange, and asks, “Who are you in this vast multiverse?” How would you answer that same question? Mesientofenomenal.com, Pienso Luego Ya tu Sabeh, Podstar Fm, demiguel3cantos, Manuel Hidalgo Muñoz, Monica de la Fuente, David Ferrer, Migartri,Wichito, Yago Paris, Danill1989,Tribu Paleo, Miguel on the Road, Luís Del Valle, María Santonja,Jorge, Richie Fintano, Tesacu, Mariano Pérez Caro, Victor Mollà, Rubén RS, Daniel Roca,Jose Vicente, Punto Primario, Victor Lozano, Sandra Vallaure, Karvala y Boomsyboom, Entre Trabajadoreshttps://www.patreon.com/Nacionpodcast

Mesientofenomenal.com, Pienso Luego Ya tu Sabeh, Podstar Fm, demiguel3cantos, Manuel Hidalgo Muñoz, Monica de la Fuente, David Ferrer, Migartri,Wichito, Yago Paris, Danill1989,Tribu Paleo, Miguel on the Road, Luís Del Valle, María Santonja,Jorge, Richie Fintano, Tesacu, Mariano Pérez Caro, Victor Mollà, Rubén RS, Daniel Roca,Jose Vicente, Punto Primario, Victor Lozano, Sandra Vallaure, Karvala y Boomsyboom, Entre Trabajadoreshttps://www.patreon.com/Nacionpodcast

Y: Hello everyone! I'm Yolanda.F: I'm flat .This is screen age again! Did you miss us?Y: Recently, marvel made a big new, Flat, do you know it?F: You mean the new movie for the new character?Y: Yeah, the doctor strange! We all set a high value on him because this was marvel's last character.F: And another reason! He was acted bye Benedict Cumberbatch. Y: I guess at least a quarter of the audiences went to see the film because him!F: So what's the story mainly about? What kind of magic was in this movie? Did Benedict done a good job?Y: Just listen to us and we will tell you!Y: Dr. Stephen Strange, an arrogant neurosurgeon as well as a surgical specialist, has made his mark in his profession. However, he couldn't hold his scalpels and continue his doctor career because of a car accident. He escaped death in this accident; however, he was caught in a bigger problem.H: To end this nightmare, to cure himself, he tried his utmost. After experiencing lots of bitterness and sorrow, he finally found The Ancient One in Nepal. He started to put ego aside and learn the secrets of a hidden world of mysticism and alternate dimensions.Y: Based in New York City's Greenwich Village, Doctor Strange must act as an intermediary between the real world and what lies beyond, utilizing a vast array of metaphysical abilities and artifacts to protect the Marvel Cinematic Universe.H: There are some amazing plots that being talked by audience for a time. First one is about epiphany. The Ancient One let Dr. Stephen to feel the measurement of everything, made him see the high-dimensional universe in a second. Y: When Dr. Stephen went through the time and space, he suddenly realized that it's time to give everything up. This plot makes many people recall their curiosity of the world beyond earth, beyond the galaxy. And it gave audience some inspirations as well.Y: For many girls, one of the big bright spots is the protagonist, Benedict Timothy Carlton Cumberbatch. The length of his name has always been a joke as well as his face. Actually, he's a quite charming and great man.H: I can't agree more. The first I was attracted to him for his performance in Sherlock Holmes. His intelligent and personable image walked my heart. Just unlike the most performers, Benedict is excellent as the characters he plays in real life.F: Now, let me bring you into the part of today's figure. Cumberbatch was born and raised in London, England. His parents, Wanda Ventham and Timothy Carlton are both actors. He is a grandson of submarine commander Henry Carlton Cumberbatch, and a great-grandson of diplomat Henry Arnold Cumberbatch CMG.M: Cumberbatch attended Brambletye School and Harrow School. Whilst at Harrow, he had an arts scholarship and painted large oil canvases. It's also where he began acting. A:After he finished school, he took a year off to volunteer as an English teacher in a Tibetan monastery in Darjeeling, India. On his return, he studied drama at Manchester University.F:He continued his training as an actor at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art graduating with an M.A. in Classical Acting. By the time he had completed his studies, he already had an agent.L: He has worked in theatre, television, film and radio. His breakthrough on the big screen came in 2004 when he portrayed Stephen Hawking in the television movie Hawking. In 2010, he became a household name as Sherlock Holmes on the British television series Sherlock.I: In 2011, he appeared in two Oscar-nominated films, War Horse and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. He followed this with acclaimed roles in the science fiction film Star Trek Into Darkness, the Oscar-winning drama 12 Years a Slave, The Fifth Estate and August: Osage County in 2013. Y: Well, in 2014, he portrayed Alan Turing in The Imitation Game which earned him a Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild Award, British Academy of Film and Television Arts and an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor in a Leading Role. B: The next year, Cumberbatch was appointed CBE by Queen Elizabeth II in the 2015 Birthday Honours for his services to the performing arts and to charity.M: So, this is another film of Marvel Studios. Compared to the previous movies, doctor Strange is a very unique super hero, because he is not a product of some kind of technological armor, he is not a Nordic god and he doesn't get his power from super serum or gamma rays. He once was a neurosurgeon, but after the accident he found a mysterious eastern power and become stronger.F: As a Marvel fan, this movie did not let me down. The plot, action, humor and adventure throughout the film made a success. It is truly one of the best marvel movies.M: I must say, the visual effects of this movie blew my mind. In the beginning, where the ancient one fights with her talented student, Kaecilius, the scene is really amazing and fantastic. Those amazing visual effects remind me of the Inception.F: Indeed, it made me dazzled. What's more, when the ancient one shows Doctor Strange “the magic”, it shows audiences the colorful universe and it's so marvelous that I don't know how to describe it.M: If you let me rate for it, I'd give this movie an 8 for its fantastic visual effects.F: Me too. Besides, the cast is amazing. They embody their characters instead of trying to act like the character. Many people like this film for the excellent performing of Benedict Cumberbatch.M: Overall, I highly recommend all of you to see it in IMAX 3D. You will have a visual feast.F: Well my audiences, it's time to say goodbye. M: After all, we think doctor strange is a good film. Well at least we should know one thing from it, be modest. F: Yes, and don't forget believe in yourself too. See you next time, bye~M: Bye!
Devon, Brent & Brandon discuss DOCTOR STRANGE. Benedict Cumberbatch as the Sorcerer Supreme joins the MCU and we have some things to get into. While our panelist all have differing opinions on the film, there is so much going on in the ever growing MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE that we need to go full nerd on this one. The lads discuss how Mads Mikkelsen's Kaecilius likes the naughty bits of the book of Cagliostro, how Baron Mordo's Staff has Brandon thinking about future films and how much The Ancient One looks like Tilda Swinton. The gents also speculate on the location of the soul stone based on the "T.H.A.N.O.S." theory and Brandon just cannot think of "The Mindless ones"... It's good to be back.

Things get a little "Strange" this week as Brian, John, and Elaine throw on their sling rings and dive into the mind bending mystical stage 3 marvel film, Doctor Strange. We try to use our mystical movie powers and conjure answers to some of the biggest mysteries facing this entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe such as does it suffer from weak villains that aren't Loki and forgettable female characters that marvel gives no time to. Also is Benedict Cumberbatch playing Tony Stark or Doctor House or some other asshole who is redeemed after some trauma? So grab your cloak of levitation and trip out on the astral plane as we review Doctor Strange. Movie News! A Furby Film Now is in The Works....Cause We Don't Deserve Good Movies. Doctor Strange (2016) The Story Doctor Stephen Strange is an accomplished surgeon who seemingly has everything..money..confidence bordering on being a douche...so what could go wrong. Strange gets into a horrible car accident that cripples his hands. Strange becomes obsessed trying to cure his hands and return to his career. In his search, he comes across Karma-taj, a mystical place run by The Sorcerer Supreme: The Ancient One. Strange learns to master the mystical arts and get over his own hubris along with battle the villainous Kaecilius who looks to open The Dark Dimension and it's overlord, Dormamu, to our world. Meh Things Racial white washing in casting The Ancient One in the comics is asian. In this adaptation, Tilda Swinton plays The Ancient One which is indicative of Hollywood's love affair with casting white people in non white roles. Suffers from the typical Marvel villain problems. Marvel is notorious for crafting extremely forgettable villains (other than Loki of course). Kaecilius is extremely under developed and is given no time to develop as a character or add any reason to care or relate to the villain. Doctor Strange acts just like Tony Stark and even goes through the same kind of "trauma" and character arc as Tony Stark. Awesome Things Visual effects are simply beautiful in this film. Definitely worth seeing in 3D simply for the ability to trip out during the alternate dimension scenes. The story itself, despite being predictable, does stand on it's own and doesn't feel like a checklist for the next Avengers film (**I'M LOOKING AT YOU AGE OF ULTRON!!**). Cumberbatch does create a solid Stephen Strange that adds just the right amount of humor without going full Whedon. Ending is fantastic as it uses the ability of Doctor Strange outsmarting Dormamu instead of simply punching him. Subscribe / Rate / Review Subscribe today to never miss an episode.
