In a recent conversation hosted by the Hudson Institute, esteemed former South Carolina Governor and UN Ambassador during the Trump administration, Nikki Haley, made a remarkable statement. Haley, a well-known figure within conservative politics who made a brave run for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination, disclosed her intention to back Donald Trump in the forthcoming 2024 election, surprising many. This was of particular interest considering her earlier reluctance to endorse Trump, the 45th president of the United States, during her farewell speech after her unsuccessful quest for the nomination. Haley's endorsement, although significant, came with discernible reservations. Her conservative values and principles have sometimes contrasted sharply with Trump's more unorthodox policy approaches. The artful diplomat indicated that notwithstanding this ideological disconnect, she would still vote for Trump — but this did not imply automatic allegiance from her voter base. Addressing the audience, Haley expressed her nuanced position clearly: 'Trump's policies haven't always echoed my own convictions—I have been vocal about this in the past. Yet, when juxtaposed against the disaster that has been the Biden administration, my choice is Trump.' Her words called to the forefront the pragmatism politics often necessitates. Haley, however, was careful to point out her faith in her followers' individuality and discernment. Her explanation highlighted the importance of understanding and reaching out to diverse conservative opinions within her supporter groups. 'Just because I am voting for Trump doesn't simply guarantee that those who have supported me will do the same', she noted. 'The Trump camp would be wise to approach my supporters, understand their perspectives, and strive towards securing their unwavering support'.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Super Tuesday Could Position Trump for Rematch with Biden

The predictions for the forthcoming GOP primary do not indicate an outright win for Donald Trump this Tuesday. Yet, the Super Tuesday nomination, the day where 15 states perform GOP or Republican primaries, could move Trump significantly closer to a majority nomination share. This is mainly due to the high probability of Trump securing a large volume of the 854 Republican delegates available on that day. His only major competitor at this stage, former South Carolina Governor and UN Ambassador Nikki Haley, remains a contender, but Trump appears to be dominating the contest so far. Trump's success story thus far has been quite remarkable. He has triumphed in all but a single one of the nine contests held so far on the GOP nomination calendar. This includes a recent victory in North Dakota's GOP caucuses just before Super Tuesday. A strong performance by Trump on Tuesday's nationwide primaries and caucuses will enable him to concentrate on a general election campaign, where he is expected to compete with the current incumbent, Joe Biden, who defeated him four years ago. The Super Tuesday nomination contest is conducted in several states across America, with California and Texas contributing heavily in terms of delegate share. Other significant states participating in the primaries include Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Vermont, and Virginia. Two states - Alaska and Utah, have opted for caucuses.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

It's Tuesday, January 23rd, A.D. 2024. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Kevin Swanson Chinese Communists sentence pastor to 14 years in prison A Chinese pastor with a large online presence has received a sentence of 14 years in prison. Kan Xiaoyong, his wife Wang, and four other church members all received prison sentences at the hands of the despotic communist government, reports Bitter Winter Magazine. Pastor Kan has supported the House Church movement with what he called the Home Discipleship Network for the last four years.  Both the pastor and his wife were tortured for two to three hours by Chinese authorities, reports Radio Free Asia.  Indian prime minister doubles down on Hinduism India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi is moving more nationalist and more committed to a Hindu state. That will mean more persecution for Christians and those of other minority religions. His enthusiastic support for the false god “Lord Ram” and a new Hindu temple in northern India's Ayodhya is an attempt to create what Modi has called “The New India.” Hindus for Human Rights is protesting, calling this an attempt to “weaponize Hinduism in the name of the BJP's repressive nationalist ideology, ahead of national elections in May.” Brazil floods kill 32 Torrential rains in Brazil led to severe flooding last week, resulting in the deaths of at least 32 persons and the displacement of 5,000 others, according to The Brazilian Report. And The Christian Daily reports that the Rio de Janeiro flood left 12 dead. The Brazilian Evangelical Alliance is calling for prayers and volunteers to help with the clean up efforts for church communities affected by the flooding — reported to be the worst in 90 years.  Brazil critical of Israel Also, in relation to the Israeli-Hamas War, Brazil has joined South Africa and other Arab nations to bring charges of genocide against Israel in the International Court of Justice for Israel's defending itself after being attacked by the Muslim terrorist group on October 7th. The United States, Canada, and Germany have criticized the motion. Ron DeSantis withdraws from presidential race Ahead of today's first-in-the nation primary in New Hampshire, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has pulled out of the presidential race, and he's putting his support behind former president Donald Trump. Listen. DeSANTIS: “I can't ask our supporters to volunteer their time and donate their resources if we don't have a clear path to victory. Accordingly, I am today suspending my campaign. “It's clear to me that a majority of Republican primary voters want to give Donald Trump another chance. They watch his presidency gets stymied by relentless resistance, and they see Democrats using lawfair to this day to attack him. While I've had disagreements with Donald Trump, such as on the coronavirus pandemic and his elevation of Anthony Fauci, Trump is superior to the current incumbent, Joe Biden. “He has my endorsement because we can't go back to the old Republican Guard of yesteryear.” Trump leads Haley, 50-39%, in New Hampshire   A CNN poll finds that Trump's lead over second place Republican candidate Nikki Haley, the former South Carolina Governor, is now 50-39% in the New Hampshire primary today, where Haley has her best shot.  Real estate market hitting recession The real estate market has hit recession levels. Existing-home sales waned by 1 % in December to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 3.78 million, reports the National Association of Realtors. That's the lowest level since the 2010 recession. Court: 18 to 20-year-olds can carry guns The U.S. Third Circuit Court of Appeals has upheld the rights of 18 to 20-year-olds to carry arms.  The court ruled that a Pennsylvania law, which prohibits the right of these young adults from carrying firearms in public during a state of emergency, was unconstitutional.  U.S. Circuit Judge Kent Jordan wrote, “It is undisputed that 18 to 20-year-olds are among ‘the people' for other constitutional rights such as the right to vote, freedom of speech, peaceable assembly, government petitions, and the right against unreasonable government searches and seizures.” March for Life in D.C. and across America Pro-lifers held their March for Life events around the country over the weekend, connected to the January 22, 1973 date of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision which effectively legalized abortion. As The Worldview reported yesterday, thousands braved snowy weather in Washington DC, to march and attend a rally with speakers including NFL player Benjamin Watson and House Speaker Mike Johnson – both of whom we quoted. Other speakers included Republican Congressman Chris Smith of New Jersey, Focus on the Family President Jim Daly, and Pastor Greg Laurie of Harvest Christian Fellowship. Abortion rate up despite overturn of Roe Despite the reversal of Roe v. Wade on June 24, 2022, the number of abortions appears to still be on the increase in America. The Guttmacher Institute reports that in the first 10 months of 2023 there were an estimated 878,000 abortions in the formal US health care system. That's a rate 12% higher than 2020's numbers. And that doesn't include the number of abortions produced by the Day After Pill, the IUD, and the unrecorded Abortion Kill Pill by Mail program.  Hear the Word of the Lord, for America,  from Isaiah 1:15-17. God said, “When you spread out your hands, I will hide My eyes from you; Even though you make many prayers, I will not hear. Your hands are full of blood. Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; Put away the evil of your doings from before My eyes. Cease to do evil,  Learn to do good; Seek justice, Rebuke the oppressor; Defend the fatherless, Plead for the widow.” Wrestler Hulk Hogan rescues teen after witnessing car accident And finally, famed wrestler Hulk Hogan has recently been in the headlines for getting baptized and speaking about his newfound Christian faith, reports FaithWire.com. But the former World Wrestling Entertainment star is now making headlines for “playing real-life superheroes” alongside one of his friends. A week ago Sunday night, Hogan was in Tampa, Florida when he witnessed a horrific crash and jumped into action. The accident reportedly involved a 17-year-old girl, whom Hogan rescued. After news of the incident broke, the wrestling icon's wife, Sky Daily Hogan, shared details of the event on her Facebook page. She said, “Last night, after we left dinner in Tampa, we saw a car flip in front of us! I truly admire my husband, @hulkhogan, and our good buddy, @jakerask, for springing into action, puncturing the girl's airbag, and getting her quickly out of the car.” According to Hogan, the victim was “unscathed,” though rattled. In the end, she called the entire ordeal “an absolute miracle.” The wrestler also confirmed the story on his Twitter feed, explaining how he was able to pop the airbag without a knife. He wrote, “The crazy part about the teenager that flipped her car was that, without a knife to puncture the airbags to get her out, an Indian Rocks Christian ballpoint pen came in really handy. Thank you, God, all is well.” Close And that's The Worldview in 5 Minutes on this Tuesday, January 23rd in the year of our Lord 2024. Subscribe by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com. Today's Headlines: In the latest Iowa caucus results, Donald Trump secured first place with just over 50% of Republican primary voters, marking a notable victory despite a low turnout, the lowest in the past quarter-century. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis claimed second place with slightly over 21%, followed by former South Carolina Governor and UN Ambassador Nikki Haley at 19%, and Vivek Ramaswamy with just over 7%, who has dropped out and endorsed Trump despite recent friction. Looking ahead, the New Hampshire primary is scheduled for January 23rd, but a debate slated for tomorrow night was canceled after Haley insisted on Trump's participation. Meanwhile, Trump faced a Manhattan courtroom, where a jury was selected to decide whether he owes E. Jean Carroll an additional $10 million in damages for defamation. Carroll had accused him of rape, a claim the judge has already deemed established as true. In Yemen, the U.S. launched another strike against Houthi rebels in response to a missile attack on a commercial ship, with national security adviser Jake Sullivan emphasizing the need to manage the escalating situation. Lastly, a federal judge blocked the planned $3.8 billion merger between JetBlue and Spirit Airlines, aligning with the Department of Justice's view that the deal was anticompetitive, raising questions about another proposed merger between Alaska Air and Hawaiian Airlines. A county in Oregon is suing some major fossil fuel companies and industry groups for their role in climate change. According to a report in DeSmog blog, the lawsuit “seeks to hold fossil fuel companies and their ‘misinformation agents' accountable for the unprecedented 2021 heat dome that saw temperatures in the county reach 116 degrees Fahrenheit.” This lawsuit is of special interest because it also implicates the global consulting firm, McKinsey & Company for their role in spreading misinformation.  And while the national media was urgently reporting on the fate of 5 people on a shoddy submarine seeking to tour the Titanic wreck, North Atlantic ocean temperatures went off the map. The unexpected heating of the Atlantic is, in the words of Bill McKibben, “truly terrifying news.”  In addition, an unprecedented “heat dome” over Mexico and Texas is producing deadly storms and heat. The jet stream maps are wild.  A meteorologist in Iowa resigned from his local TV news job due to ongoing threats from climate change deniers.  New reporting by Cyril Mychalejko in the Bucks County Beacon shows how the right-wing donor group, the Bradley Foundation, is now helping bankroll efforts to help Republicans weaponize the Department of Justice.  Moms for Liberty is holding their annual national summit in Philadelphia beginning next week. They will be met by protests as they host a range of Republican presidential hopefuls including Trump, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, and former Trump official and South Carolina Governor, Nikki Haley. And, now we've learned that pseudo-populist, anti-vaxxer and conspiracy theorist, Robert Kenndy, Jr. will be speaking there as well.  As the Mad Moms get ready to gather in Philly, yet another M4L chapter in Indiana is under fire for quoting Hitler approvingly in their newsletter.  New reporting in Vice documents the close relationship M4L has cultivated with the Proud Boys and other extremist organizations.  And let's not forget about the leader of the Monroe County, PA M4L chapter who stole a dead woman's Facebook identity to harass others. Seems to me that all the bad apples are in the same place.  Info on protests in the Bucks County Beacon.  New reporting in the Bucks County Courier-Times shows how the Harrisburg-based  right-wing religious Independence Law Firm has influenced and continues to influence Central Bucks and York schools.  The Pennridge School Board meeting was packed once again as the far-right majority continued to force through their agenda and demonstrate their incompetence. The highlight of the meeting was a Zoom presentation by Jordan Adams, the CEO of Vermilion Education. We'll get into that.  You can support this show by becoming a patron for as little as $5/month at https://www.patreon.com/rcpress. The horror of this week at Michigan State University casts a cloud over our state, and especially the campus just five miles east of the Capitol building. It was the 67th mass shooting in the first 46 days of 2023. As we recorded this week's podcast, a memorial service was gathering in the center of the East Lansing campus in remembrance of Arielle Anderson, Alexander Verner and Brian Fraser … and with prayers for five more students hospitalized at Lansing's Sparrow Hospital. Yes, Perry Johnson thinks he's ready to be America's Quality Guru in Chief … along with the somewhat more qualified but equally unlikely to win former South Carolina Governor, Nikki Haley. Maybe a Perry - Nicki ticket? Also this week, Michigan Republicans head to their state convention this weekend secure in the knowledge their next chairperson will be an Election Denier. The pre-convention activities begin, appropriately, with a Matt DePerno fundraiser at The Nut House (a sports bar across the street from the convention hall).  We're joined this week by President Ron Bieber, who has served at president of the Michigan AFL-CIO since 2015. Bieber joined UAW Local 730 in 1978, after hiring into the General Motors Metal Fabricating plant in Wyoming, Michigan. He was elected to his first union position at the age of 23, and moved up the ranks, being appointed to the UAW International staff in 1992. In 2009, Bieber was promoted as an Administrative Assistant to the UAW President and named the Director of the UAW CAP Department. In this position, his responsibilities included the administration of the Political, Retired Workers and Civil Rights departments of the UAW. I've been a Republican since I can remember, and I love South Carolina and what our constitution stands for. One of my most cherished memories is when I accompanied my mother, Brenda Musselwhite, to President Reagan's Inaugural Ball in 1981. I married my lovely wife Sharon in 1983 and managed the family furniture business in Virginia for over a decade, as we were blessed with a beautiful family of 7 children. During this time, I was also blessed to work along side Sam Walton of Walmart. In 1997, I fell in love with South Carolina and moved to Simpsonville, where I started my own furniture business, Mattress World, that spanned multiple states across the South East. My wife Sharon came down with a fatal lung disease, Sarcoidosis, and I had to make a choice between taking care of my wife and family, or my business, so I closed my business and took care of my family. It's because of my wife and her illness that I know the power of God first hand. The doctors said that she would never survive her illness, but I took care of her and we prayed. One day after many years of living with this terrible illness, she said that she felt like the nodules on her lungs were gone, and much to my joyous surprise, the doctors confirmed this. For us it was a miracle, and I've felt the calling to serve my fellow man ever since. After the Good Lord healed my wife, I went back to school at Destiny Bible College in Greenville South Carolina, where I specialized in bringing Christian values and ethics to business, and I decided to change careers and become a truck driver, delivering bulk chemicals nationwide, which is how I came by the name of Trucker Bob. After watching the outcome of the last presidential election and the overreach of the federal government since then, I felt the calling to become more active in our community politics. I'm currently serving as the Chairman of the Legislative Committee for the Greenville County Republican party, where I work closely with our South Carolina state Legislators to create Fair and Just legislation that protects the rights of ALL South Carolina citizens. After a number of my good friends passed away this year because they were unable to get the medical treatments they needed, I worked directly with our legislators to establish Monoclonal Antibody sites here in South Carolina, to save lives. I'm very proud to say that at least 6 peoples' lives in our own Greenville County Republican party were saved by these treatments, and many thousands more across South Carolina. I wasn't seeking to run for a higher office, provided that our representatives were respecting the rights of We The People and adhering to our Constitution, but when Governor McMaster broke his promise to We The People once again after saying that he would go to the “gates of hell” to defend our rights against the overreach from the federal government, I was called to say No More and announce my candidacy, along with my Lieutenant Governor ZOE Warren, for South Carolina Governor because We The People deserve better.

Featuring Sarah St. Vincent & Karolina Zapal How many times can we reference the 90's before you actually start believing that we can time travel? Are hairspray bangs enough (specifically Kirsten Dunst's lack of them in On Becoming a God in Central Florida)? As the editorial table moves through space-time in our usual fashion, starting off in 1991, Sarah St. Vincent gives us a feeling of the WWE moments of intimacy which make, as Jason says with some Hulk Hogan gusto, YOUR BODY SING WITH PAIN! The spectacle of boxing and the compelling stillness of combat reminds Marion of Gabrielle Calvocoressi's poetry book, “Apocalyptic Swing.” If you're hearing the poem twice, that's not ringing in your cauliflower ears! This episode, we take some cues from Pádraig Ó Tuama's “Poetry Unbound” series by reading, discussing, and then reading again. Repetition, both in words and time loops, seems to be the theme here with Karolina Zapal sliding in more than a few ‘I love you's into her poem.
