These tortillas are grain-free, gum-free, gluten-free, and anti-inflammatory. Honoring Tradition and Heritage: Janet, from Sonora, Mexico, wanted to modernize the traditional tortilla recipe to meet today's clean eating standards. Through ancestral healing, you can discover and release the deep-seated traumas holding you back, creating space for healing and growth. Join me as I share the keys to unlocking the hidden wounds of the past and pave the way for a brighter, more empowered future. In this episode, you will be able to: Decode ancestral traumas to illuminate pathways toward personal and generational healing. Navigate the journey of authentic masculinity that embraces empathy and sensitivity. Appreciate the profound influence of divine timing, accelerating life transformations. Achieve an elegant equilibrium between thought and emotion for optimal life decisions. Embrace the synergy between physical well-being and spiritual self-discovery for holistic healing. First Steps towards Ancestral Healing Embarking on the path of ancestral healing is a personal journey rooted in courage and love. It's about acknowledging and accepting our past, understanding the stories that mold our present, and healing for a healthier future. It requires a willingness to uncover truths and a readiness to shed emotional burdens that no longer serve us. In his conversation, Harrison delves into his primary steps toward ancestral healing. Forging a connection with himself, and his lineage provided a starting point. This prompted a journey that required unmasking his roots, facing his burdens, and acceptance. His story serves as an example that breaking the cycle begins with recognizing the need to heal and the courage to take that first step. Going Against the Grain - Permanent Wood FoundationsSeriously? Aren't the terms "permanent" and "wood" used together below-grade a contradiction in terms? Turns out that if you honor the four continuous control layers below-grade on a foundation framed with pressure-treated wood, both the science and the construction actually work. Is the margin for error probably tighter than with concrete? Very well could be, but framing below-grade seems to bring more attention to detail, as Pete, Jake, and Steve attest.

A lot of people say, “I'm comfortable with investing in people and paying them market rates and all this kind of crap” – I think that's bullshit. A lot of people tell themselves that, but in practice they don't, and they really don't do it unless they have funding. – Ross Andrew Paquette Hi everyone! Today we talk about making tough calls to grow your business with Ross Andrew Paquette. Ross is the Founder, Chairman and CEO of Maropost. The company was founded in 2011 and has grown to become a fully unified customer engagement platform designed to provide a single solution for all areas of business—across marketing, commerce, service, and more. We also discuss: How he grew his company without raising funding, Going against the status quo, Creating a framework around your growth, Investing in the right people early on, and more. Click that play button to listen! Don't forget to subscribe and rate us on Apple Podcasts! Going Against the Status Quo In the early stages of the company, I did a lot of things on my own, which I'm always very happy that I did. Being a company that didn't take any funding, we didn't have the ability to hire a VP of Sales, VP of HR – every VP-of-everything wasn't an option. By having to get involved in all those areas, I gained an understanding of not only what it takes to build and grow a business but an appreciation for what's required to accomplish those roles, and an understanding of how things operate. I don't have a finance or marketing background, but I very much understand those roles. I had to go out and generate leads as a marketer; I had to go manage our customer billing from a finance perspective. I had to do a lot of those tasks at a time when we were actually quite large – we had six people in the organization doing about 7 or 8 million in revenue. I believe a big part of us being able to get there was taking the time to really learn all those areas, as opposed to saying, “We'll just go hire somebody for that and I'm just the overseer of everything that's happening today.” Pay what you can afford, or pay for quality? I don't think I really appreciated the fact that if I invested maybe $10,000, $20,000, $30,000 a year or more, I would get a significant increase in the quality of the individual. It was more like, “This person just needs to do this job, what's the least amount of money I can pay to get that job done?” But then I never considered, “I paid that person $60,000, but if I paid $90,000, I wouldn't have to deal with issues 1-10.” I'm paying on one side or the other. A lot of people say, “I'm comfortable with investing in people and paying them market rates and all this kind of crap” – I think that's bullshit. A lot of people tell themselves that, but in practice they don't, and they really don't do it unless they have funding. Being Held Hostage Where I see a lot of organizations get into trouble is they make these decisions – pandering or as I would call it, “being held hostage”, which is a more dramatic version of that. They bring in people under a certain pretense, and I think most organizations are very transparent about that. This is what you're going to get for benefits, this is our office, these are the perks, the package – all of those things are quite clear. But then people come in and it's like, “OK, well why don't we have bean bag chairs? Why don't we have Starbucks coffee? Why don't we have these office upgrades? Why don't we have standing desks? Why don't I have a wide-screen monitor?” The list goes on. And I feel like organizations sort of get into this circular approach of pandering or being held hostage by everybody where they feel like, “OK, we have to do this.” But what if you really can't do that? There's a cost to all of these things. If you can't afford to do that today, but you end up having to do it because you're worried about people leaving or acquiring new talent and such, what is that going to mean for the future of your business? How to Practice Detoxification of Your Mind, Body, and Spirit with Queen Afua  The pandemic brought an uncomfortable truth to the surface: not all of us have the healthiest of lifestyles, even if we think we’re in tip-top shape. For too long, we have been feeding our bodies with junk, staying glued to our phones all day, and raising our children the same way. The time for detoxification and a reset is long overdue. In this episode, Queen Afua urges women to take greater control of their health. As healers of the home, women spread wellness to their families and communities. Instead of relying heavily on drugs or surgery, she explains how we can use food, nature, and yoga as medicine. When we wean ourselves off unhealthy options and cleanse from within, our medical issues will naturally resolve themselves. If you want to learn how to practice detoxification of your mind, body, and spirit, tune in to the full episode now. Episode Highlights On Motherhood and Selfhood For Queen Afya, her three children represent different facets of her identity. They are the total of her experiences and carry wisdom from those chapters in her life. She believes her oldest child is her spirit, her middle child is her heart, and her youngest is her bones. Queen Afua explains that motherhood is like a battlefield. The way she raised her children and the emphasis she placed on holistic health and wellness went against the norm. Going Against the Flow Queen Afua admitted that it took years for her blood family to accept how she lived and raised her kids. Her mother didn't fully understand her vision but supported her anyway. The pandemic forced people to wake up to the need for detoxification and explore natural methods for healing. Empowering Women During the pandemic, her business grew ten times over as people sought to learn how to boost their immune system against the virus. She compiled all the health and wellness protocols she knew and distributed them on her website and around her housing complex. Queen Afua responded to the pandemic by sharing her knowledge and empowering women to take greater control of their health. The pandemic was an extreme wake-up call to check on the gaps in our health. Women Wellness During her research, Queen Afua found that yoga, meditation, reiki, hydrotherapy, and other holistic wellness solutions are part of ancient wisdom antiquity. She cites a prayer for women to learn how to heal themselves and their families. Women are natural healers. They don't need to look outside for medicine; they can look within. If you empower women, you empower the entire family. When women reclaim their womb and their natural healing powers, any medical issues will naturally disappear. Womb Yoga Queen Afua developed her yoga practice. The poses wake up the subconscious mind to the body's natural healing powers. There are 69 womb yoga poses and 39 womb dance movements. All movements are just one movement that flows seamlessly into the next. She recommends a daily bed practice that can help with a prolapsed uterus and heavy menstrual bleeding. Instead of having surgery or relying too heavily on medicine, yoga can strengthen the reproductive muscles naturally. The Importance of Detoxification Women need to put in the work to release pent-up tension and anxiety. A sickly kid, Queen Afua admits that detoxification saved her life. When she forgot to bring her medication during a trip, she needed detoxification. She didn't know it at the time. After her detoxification, her symptoms suddenly stopped, and her mind went still. After experiencing the wonders of detoxification, Queen Afua became a holistic evangelist. Today, she is proud that detoxification is gaining ground. Your Wellness Journey Queen Afua encourages everyone to try seven-day detoxification. Whether it's seven days of vegetarian lifestyle or juice therapy, you might discover that going natural is something long-term. As a former colon therapist, she stresses the importance of cleaning up the gut and flushing out the waste that sometimes comes through to the skin. Queen Afua also offers a detailed menu plan and daily checklist to help you on your detoxification journey. On her 21-day Detox Your Life program, she visits all the rooms in your house and transforms them into a wellness home. There's no need to stop visiting the doctor or taking your meds. But if you try implementing these small changes, your doctor will also see the difference. Radically Loved For Queen Afua, radical love is based on what she calls impeccable listening. The answers you've been searching for already exist within you. All you have to do is ask, stay still, and listen. Once you start listening, you are bound to find love and guidance in every step of your journey. When you listen to your heart every day, love and peace will grow at every turn. Going Against the Grain The vast majority of people in America—Catholics and non-Catholics alike—have bought in to the conventional wisdom on how to rear children and the proper role of the wife and mother. I'm going to go against the grain of that wisdom, so some people listening are going to get angry. If you're not a thinned-skinned snowflake, you'll want to hear this. If you are a snowflake, this will just make you want to throw your device. Don’t like or trust Facebook? No problem! Joe Sixpack—The Every Catholic Guy doesn’t trust Facebook either. There have been too many instances of censorship on Facebook. If you promote abortion, LGBT issues, or anything anti-patriotic, you’re pretty much guaranteed to be unmolested by Facebook. But if you promote life, decency or morality, Facebook is subject to censor your posts, take down your page, or otherwise use some underhanded method to censor you. TrumpTown.com We’ve found an alternative to Facebook. It’s a new social media site called https://trumptown.com/?ref=JoeSixpack (TrumpTown.com). Whether you like President Trump or not, this is the one social media that doesn’t censor you for upholding Catholic values and morals. You’re completely free to discuss and promote anything you want, just as long as it isn’t immoral, indecent, or anti-American. Joe Sixpack—The Every Catholic Guy has been critical of President Trump on a number of issues, as is the right of all Americans.  https://trumptown.com/?ref=JoeSixpack (TrumpTown.com) has never molested him in any way, and they guarantee they won’t. The site otherwise works identically to Facebook. That is the reason Joe Sixpack—The Every Catholic Guy chose to host https://trumptown.com/cantankerouscatholicgroup (The Cantankerous Catholic Social Media Group) there. Women in the Business Arena

“A lot of women label themselves as procrastinators, but is it really procrastination?” In this week’s episode, Sonya and Laura chat about a topic that has been coming up frequently in the Women in the Business Arena Facebook Group. The conversation centers around what procrastination really is and why many women perceive themselves as procrastinators when really there is something else going on that they need to pay attention to. Sonya discusses how the term “procrastination” is a blanket label that we can tend to give when we don’t accomplish what we think we “should”. “Sometimes, our intuition is telling us to postpone something because it’s not quite right yet. Sometimes, we’re in a cyclical stage where we need to slow down, stop, rethink things, and pivot, or we just need self-care. All of those things can be lumped in with procrastination.” Whether you struggle with perfectionism or just the cyclical nature of life and business, you’ve probably labelled your stand still as procrastination instead of looking deeper to see what it is telling you. We’re so used to hearing it thrown about in the business world as something that we all do. If we’re not hustling, or working on our businesses every moment of the day, we can label ourselves (or be labelled by others) as procrastinators. The problem is, we don’t ever stop to evaluate what our wise self is trying to say. What if we are moving in the wrong direction, and our procrastination is a sign to stop and go a different way? What if the right move is to slow down instead of speed up, but we railroad over it in an effort to stop our procrastination?   “Sometimes, procrastination is our need to percolate, and we need permission to do it”   Sonya and Laura redefine the nature of procrastination. Sometimes we actually need the space to process what is happening or contemplate big decisions that might need to be made. Taking some extra time for yourself to focus on what really matters, does not make you a procrastinator.   Honor your procrastination. Celebrate your procrastination. Give yourself permission to procrastinate.   Some Topics we talk about in this episode:   Introduction - 0:58 Is It Really Procrastination? - 4:05 Accepting the Cyclical Nature Within Yourself - 6:57 Being OK With Not Being “Available” - 9:15 Feeling the Guilt of Procrastination - 12:10 Diagnosing What’s Actually Happening - 18:50 Processing vs. Procrastination - 24:05 Going Against the Current - 31:25 Wrap-up and Takeaways - 36:30   A message from Sonya:   I have been honoured to be nominated for the Ausmumpreneur awards in the Making a Difference category. If you know me, you know that I am not into awards, but what I am into is making a difference for women across the globe. What winning this award gives me... is a voice. We need more women in power and we need to spread the message that there is a way to operate more effectively as women in business. It is about self-care and honouring our emotions. Going Against the Stream: Mindfulness and Compassion to Awaken the Heart During this 7-day Insight meditation retreat, we will learn to develop a greater sense of care for ourselves and for our world through the revolutionary practices of the Dharma. Using a hybrid of mindfulness, loving-kindness and compassion meditation techniques, we will develop emotional balance by uncovering what blocks us from our own well-being, and begin to free ourselves into the heart of wisdom and compassion. Each day will include periods of sitting and walking meditation, Dharma talks, interviews and some group process. Through meditative insight, we see clearly that our thoughts and emotions don’t need to define or control us. In their greatest capacity, they can guide us towards what is most meaningful in our lives. At their most destructive, we’re caught by them: lost in the grip of anger, sadness, fear, or overwhelm. This suffering is natural and human, but we can learn to create more space, choice, and ease in the face of life’s inevitable ups and downs.

Better Living Blueprint by Eric Connor, MS, LCPC, CSAT On today's episode, Eric discusses Cognitive Dissonance As a Teacher. Cognitive dissonance is a form of pain and stress we get when faced with something that contradicts what we believe. How are you going to handle a circumstance that is in opposition to the values you live by? How can you retain your integrity? Tune in! Standing for Integrity Everyone has a set of values by which they personally stand for. We generally want to be good and make sure that everything we do is aligned to our convictions. However, some rules and regulations in our society challenge us to compromise. One of our core needs is integrity. Integrity as defined is living in accordance with our values. Some people find it alright to sacrifice their integrity as long as they follow social paths. That's not what we want to see. What's wonderful to see is people who strongly stand for what they believe in against all odds. Common Negative Counters Although we strive to become better, there are still times when our values unconsciously slip our minds. We become ashamed of ourselves afterwards. A gap appears in between and brings us into a state of recoil. The first thing we can do is to make an excuse. This is one way we could build a bridge between the gap. Next, we can minimize our faults, claiming that it's not a big deal. Third, we can procrastinate and put things off the next day. Fourth, surrender and admit that you're wrong. Fifth, we can leave our accountability group and find an exit. Lastly, we can medicate ourselves. Going Against the Wind Pain is normal and having cognitive dissonance is okay. It teaches us that something's wrong. It reminds us that we have to do something about it. We figure out how we can use the situation in a way that benefits us. To overcome this, we shouldn't run away from it. Realize that there are no excuses in reality. We should have a firm commitment to the values we hold onto. Stop being in denial and acknowledge your accountability to the situation. To hear about Cognitive Dissonance, download and listen to the entire episode.
