If a federal leader allows secure information to be communicated, they can get fired. If they do not allow enough access to appropriate information, decisions can go sideways. The federal government is being bombarded with data, some important, some trivial. The challenge is to get life-and-death information into the hands of decision makers. So, we have massive data stores and some of them reside in the intelligence community. During the interview, Dr. Williams offers an innovation that allows users to access multiple sources as if it were a single database. Further, the data can be protected to allow the correct users the specific amount of data permitted. The beneficiary of this method of protecting data at rest is Artificial Intelligence. The data that if fed into AI model can be leveraged and protected at the same time.

TechWorks Marine, a marine data company, today announces the commencement of a €475,000 contract with the European Space Agency (ESA) to expand the use of satellite data and products in the renewable wind energy sector in Europe. Further to Irish wind energy supplying a record 43% of all electricity in Ireland in March, TechWorks Marine are leading a project to establish the current information needs and best practices for the use of satellite earth observation products in the wind energy sector. As one of Ireland's leading innovators in earth observation products, TechWorks Marine will work to engage a critical mass of key stakeholders to build agreement on the way earth observation-derived information products can be used in the wind industry business processes. The project, strategically important to both Ireland and Europe, will result in the development of a best practices guide for companies to identify suitable sites for new wind farms, to obtain a deeper scientific understanding of the site conditions, and to enable accurate environmental compliance and monitoring activities. Operational services already available to companies in this sector include sea turbidity data from Europe's Sentinel-2 and Sentinel-3 satellites, and offshore wind speed analysis from the Sentinel-1 satellite. Commenting on the project launch, Charlotte O'Kelly, Managing Director of TechWorks Marine explained, "we have been working commercially in the renewables sector since 2009, and strategically in offshore wind since 2019 providing Metocean surveys to clients. We see a huge value in using satellite data to assist in both on and offshore site development, through the full life cycle of the wind park". Ms. O' Kelly continued, "working with partners on this project will allow us to integrate satellite data into the entire wind energy infrastructure cycle. Two areas where we are particularly excited about using satellite data are the maximisation of the wind farm output, and the life cycle optimisation". Recognising TechWorks Marine's expertise in this area, with the company advocating for increased satellite data usage in diverse projects since 2009, Dr. Zoltan Bartalis, Earth Observation Applications Engineer at the European Space Agency said "At ESA we are interested in consolidating the usage of satellite-based Earth Observation information and creating best practices for wind energy applications. This promotes collaboration, knowledge sharing, standardisation, and innovation, ultimately leading to more effective and sustainable solutions for the industry." "For this, it is indispensable to achieve a critical mass of users, and we are pleased to start this activity lead by TechWorks Marine, who have excellent ties to relevant industry and public sector stakeholders in Ireland and in the wider region." The timing of the project start coincides with Dublin hosting the Wind Europe Technology Workshop 2024 in early June. The event will host over 450 wind energy experts from across Europe, detailing the latest innovations within the sector and to tackle the challenges of exploiting this crucial resource. TechWorks Marine is an established player in earth observation and marine data products, having already won eight contracts from the European Space Agency, and is a participant in the €9 million CAMEO (Creating an Architecture for Manipulating Earth Observation data) project funded through the Government of Ireland's Disruptive Technologies Innovation Fund.

Their thesis "An Investment Perspective on Data Quality in Data Usage" asks "How can an organization optimize its investments in data quality?"To answer the question Kristin and Espen posed three Research Questions:What are the main drivers for willingsness to pay for data quality?What part of data quality aspects should one invest in to maximize opportunities and minimize risk?How can the quality of data be improved, and what are the costs?Here are some of their key observations, I found particularly interesting:Increasing confidence in data in order to enhance company operations is one of themotivations for willingness to pay for data quality.A greater level of knowledge in data quality gives a higher willingness to pay for data quality.Demonstrating to the customer how quality improvements may enhance profit at each stepof the value chain contributes to the willingness to pay for data quality.Prioritizing improvements are based on the time and cost of the particular improvement. Blind Abilities presents another installment in its iPhone 101 series with this review of several popular video and audio streaming Apps, in which we explore ways to set up methods to reduce the amount of your cellular data you use while streaming or downloading their products. We already know that it is more cost effective to stream audio and video services while connected to your Home WiFi network as it's cost is generally lower than that of your cellular data plan, but we may not be aware of howe to take advantage of the app settings that will actually use less data. Pete Lane takes a look at the iOS Netflix app, as well as Amazon Prime Video, the native Apple Music and TV apps, Amazon music, Audible and the BARD Mobile app, and walks us through the specific settings which can be adjusted to take advantage of high efficiency streaming, lower video quality for streaming and downloading, and to set those processes to be active only while on WiFi. These settings are not secrets nor are they hidden, but some of us may not have the time or the inclination to explore them. Keep in mind that you will be sacrificing some video quality in order to save data, but for blind or visually impaired folks, this may not be a significant issue. For those listeners with some usable vision, you may notice the lower video quality when streaming over a cellular connection. To give you an example of the data savings, in low-data mode, Netflix will only use around 1 GB of data for an hour of streaming, which is a small amount when compared with the data consumed while streaming in the higher quality 4K format. Settings demonstrated Netflix First, be sure your Netflix app is updated since your device may be running an old version. ` Ask Siri to open Netflix, or perform a single-finger double-tap on the Netflix app icon. Then single-finger double-tap on your profile. Be sure the “Home” tab is selected among the five tabs at the bottom of the next screen. Then flick right from the top of the screen and single-finger double-tap on “settings. Perform a single-finger double-tap to select “"Mobile Data Usage” located under the Video Playback section. If this setting is set to "Automatic.” Use a single-finger double-tap to deactivate it, then flick to the right and perform a single-finger double-tap to activate “Save Data”. Go back to the top of the screen and single-finger double-tap on the back button. On the previous screen. Flick right until you get to downloads, and single finger double tap. Flick right and be sure the button labeled ““Wi-Fi only,“” is selected. Flick right again and be sure the “video quality“ selection is set to “standard”. Continue flicking to the right, and be sure your "Download Next Episode” is off. This decision may depend on how regularly you view each episode of a series. Likewise, flick right and be sure your “Downloads for You” setting is in the off position. To exit these settings, perform a single-finger double-tap on the “Back Arrow Left” button until you are back on the main Netflix screen. You're done. Your app settings will automatically be saved. Amazon Prime Open your Amazon prime video app. Among the five tabs at the bottom of your screen, single finger double tap on “my stuff“. Flick to the right and single finger double tap on “settings,“ then flick right and select “streaming and downloads“. Be sure “streaming on Wi-Fi only“ is in the on position. Likewise, set ‘download on Wi-Fi only” to the on position. for streaming and download quality, be sure your settings are set to “good“. Go to the top of the screen and single finger double tap on the “back“ button. Flick right and select “1“ under auto downloads. * The next several streaming settings will be performed in the native iOS settings app, rather than an individual app such as Netflix or Amazon prime. iOS Music app: Open iOS settings, and flick right until you reach music. Perform a single finger double tap. under the heading “allow Music to access“, do not select cellular data. at 9.8GB/month: Report New Delhi: India has the world's highest data usage per smartphone at an average of 9.8GB per month, a new report by Swedish telecom equipment maker Ericsson said, adding this will double to 18GB by 2024, fuelled by rich video content. North East Asia comes second with 7.1GB per month while West Asia and Africa region is the lowest at 3GB per month, the report for year 2018 said. Improved device penetration, affordable data tariff plans, and increase in data-intensive content such as videos are driving this growth in India," Nitin Bansal, head of Ericsson India and head of network solutions, South East Asia, Oceania and India, said at the launch of The Ericsson Mobility Report on Wednesday. Triggered by Reliance Jio's entry in September 2016, India's data consumption has exploded, with all other operators also offering cheap data tariffs.
