The guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds, Chris Fetters, and Scott Eklund - break down the main talking points after Washington's improbable 24-20 win at previously-unbeaten Maryland Saturday afternoon at SECU Stadium in College Park, MD. It's the first time Washington had come back from at least 20 points on the road since winning at California in 1993. That's crazy, right? And that was probably the biggest one of them all; how did they go from looking so awful in the first half to so dominant in the second half? And how did they make Maryland, who is a pretty good team anyway, look like they could compete for a Big Ten title in the first half and then completely shut them down for their last four offensive series and make true freshman phenom Malik Washington look positively human? Here are the topics we touched on during our 35-minute recap. - Kim setting the scene and the atmosphere in what was billed as a 'sold out' SECU Stadium, the first apparent sell-out in years.- Why did Washington come out of the blocks like they were sleep-walking?- Demond Williams and how he was able to go from his first-half struggles to second-half dominance.- Did it ever get bad enough to warrant a conversation about giving backup QB Kai Horton a series?- No Zach Durfee and Deshawn Lynch stepping up as the 'next man'.- Offensive line issues, especially on the left side with no Carver Willis to start and John Mills getting hurt during the game.- How winning a game in the manner they did can help UW down the road.- Kim talking with UW Road Captain Todd Bachert and his Dad Bruce.- Final Thoughts. Today, Sean and Sarah welcome Author, YouTuber, Journalist, Speaker, Podcaster, Film Critic and Baptist Minister, Peter Laws to discuss his upcoming book 'The Frighteners: Why We Love Monsters, Ghosts, Death and Gore'. The book will be published on 9th October 2025. 'The Frighteners' finds Peter on a paranormal pilgrimage to seek out what is it that draws people to both the dark and macabre, but also to the light and faith. With a healthy dose of dark-humour including threatening a zombie in a wheelchair with a shotgun, enticing a werewolf with peppered steaks from a Sainsbury's Local, to a festival which Peter described as a sort-of meta-physical Come Dine With Me, this thought-provoking book is one not to be missed. When I say thought-provoking, mainly death if we're honest but we'll get into that.As the book blurb proclaims: 'Grab your crucifixes, pack the silver bullets, and join the Sinister Minister on his romp into our morbid curiosities!'Sean, Sarah and Peter share their own ghost 'experiences'.Guest Links:-Peter Laws Website: https://www.peterlaws.co.uk/-Into The Fog with Peter Laws: https://www.youtube.com/@IntoTheFog-Creepy Cove Community Church Podcast: https://open.spotify.com/show/3238cjOfCXGgXHI3SKI4ka-Uncanny: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m0010x7cAcknowledgments: Thank You To Peter, Elle-Jay from Icon Books and Paul Bavill from the 'History Rage' podcast.Chapters:0:08 Welcome to Review It Yourself1:06 Literary Exploration of the Macabre2:25 Introducing Pleasure a.k.a. Welcome to a compelling conversation on Trending in Education, where we explore how innovative thinking and technology can transform public education. In this episode, Mike Palmer talks with Michelle Vilchez, CEO, and Sean Michael Hardy, Vice President of National Organizing and Advocacy, from Innovate Public Schools. They discuss their groundbreaking work in empowering parents and leveraging artificial intelligence to create a new tool called AI-EP, a project developed in collaboration with Northeastern University's Burnes Center for Social Change. Why You Should Listen: Empowering Parents: This episode highlights how a nonprofit organization is shifting power to parents, particularly those from marginalized communities, by giving them the tools and platforms to advocate for their children's education. AI for Good: You'll hear about a practical and inspiring use of AI that addresses a real-world problem and closes equity gaps, rather than exacerbating them. Community-Led Innovation: The conversation showcases a powerful model of "co-design," where tech developers, educators, and community members work together to create solutions that are both effective and sustainable. Key Takeaways: Innovate Public Schools is a movement, not a network. Michelle and Sean clarify that their organization's mission is to mobilize families to demand high-quality schools for their children, not to operate charter schools. They focus on campaigns for black literacy, special education, and high-impact tutoring. AI-EP addresses a critical need. The Individualized Education Plan (IEP) is often a dense, 50-page legal document that can be intimidating for parents, especially those who don't speak English or have low reading comprehension. The AI-EP tool translates the IEP into a parent's native language and allows them to ask questions, effectively serving as a chatbot to help them understand and engage with the plan. Collaboration is key to innovation. The AI-EP project was a collaborative effort involving Innovate Public Schools, Northeastern University, and the Learning Tapestry. By bringing together tech developers and parents, they created a tool that has had a transformational impact on users. Parent advocacy drives policy change. Innovate's parent leaders have not only influenced local policy but also co-authored legislation. Their advocacy led to the passage of California's Senate Bill 445, which mandates that IEP documents be translated into the 10 most common languages across the state, benefiting over 800,000 students. The model is replicable. Michelle and Sean stress that their goal is not to be "gatekeepers" of this innovation, but to share the model so it can be replicated across the nation to address a variety of educational challenges. They believe that organizing around education is crucial because it is the "building block" for everything else in life, from economic stability to generational wealth. Don't miss this conversation. Listen in to learn how Innovate Public Schools is harnessing the power of community and technology to create a more equitable and participatory education system. In this episode of Pushing Forward with Alycia, I sit down with the Honorable Tony Coelho, retired U.S. Congressman and the principal author of the Americans with Disabilities Act, for a conversation that reaches far beyond disability policy. It's a history lesson, a civics class, and a moral compass all in one thirty minute session. As a nation founded in defiance of oppression and animated by the promise of freedom, we need the values in this conversation now—dignity, equal access, and the courage to stand up to power with truth and love. This is not just a disability story; it's a blueprint for renewing the American experiment. Tony's story is America's story: perseverance in the face of stigma, faith in community, and courageous, bipartisan coalition-building that turned lived experience into law. He reminds us that the ADA wasn't a gift; it was won through testimony, organizing, and unlikely alliances that honored human dignity over party lines. He also offers a clear charge for today: rights on paper are meaningless without enforcement, and opportunity is the measure of whether our promises are real. As we begin our celebration of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) let us remember we can't afford to ignore the warnings of our past. If we don't learn from history, we are bound to repeat it. This episode marks a huge milestone—the official rebrand of this show from The Influencer Podcast to Woman of Influence. After seven and a half years, thousands of conversations, and an evolution in both my work and myself, I knew it was time to let go of a title that no longer aligned and step fully into the next chapter. In this episode, I take you behind the scenes of this decision, the identity shifts that brought me here, and why true influence isn't about followers or performance—it's about legacy, leadership, and faith. I also walk you through my Identity Elevation Framework—the three buyer identities (former self, working self, and highest self)—and why aligning your message to your highest self buyer is the key to building a business that feels light, sustainable, and deeply aligned. You'll hear how I'm raising my own standards, what you can expect from Woman of Influence moving forward (including powerhouse guest conversations), and why this rebrand is so much more than a name change—it's an invitation for you to rise with me. But when you start speaking to and messaging to the highest buyer identity? You don't just grow, you literally expand.” - Julie Solomon “ We live in a time where we consume without thinking, where we confuse information with wisdom, where we think that the more we know, the more we care. But influence is not about consuming more. It is about embodying truth and faith because that is what cultivates true influence and impact. Influence without truth is just performance.
