En este episodio exploramos un fenómeno clínico sorprendente que algunos terapeutas han observado en pacientes con daño cerebral: personas que durante el día no pueden abrir la mano voluntariamente, pero que, justo al despertarse, sí consiguen hacerlo durante unos segundos o minutos. A partir de un caso real, analizamos qué podría estar ocurriendo en el sistema nervioso para que aparezca esta “ventana motora” transitoria. El episodio revisa cómo las alteraciones del equilibrio entre el tracto corticoespinal y las vías cortico-reticuloespinales pueden favorecer patrones globales como la sinergia flexora, que terminan “secuestrando” la apertura de la mano durante la actividad diaria. A lo largo del episodio se propone una explicación integradora basada en tres factores clave: el estado de activación del sistema nervioso al despertar, la neuromodulación monoaminérgica que regula la excitabilidad de las motoneuronas y las corrientes internas (PICs), y el papel crucial de la biomecánica y la postura del miembro superior. Esta combinación podría generar una breve fase de menor hiperactividad flexora que permite emerger al movimiento. Más allá de la curiosidad clínica, el episodio plantea una pregunta terapéutica fundamental: si entendemos por qué aparece esa ventana, ¿podemos reproducirla y utilizarla en rehabilitación para entrenar la apertura de la mano? Heute weiß man: Ihre Vorfahren sind am Ende der Kreidezeit vor 66 Millionen Jahren nicht wie die meisten anderen Dinosaurier ausgestorben. Doch Paläontologie ist vielmehr als nur die Forschung über Tyrannosaurus Rex, Triceratops oder Brachiosaurus. Es ist die Rekonstruktion der Geschichte des Lebens auf der Erde - und zwar durch verschiedene Arten von Fossilien. Auch versteinerte Spuren und Exkremente gehören dazu. Dinosaurier sind dabei vermutlich bis heute nicht nur die bekanntesten, sondern auch die beliebtesten Zeugen aus der Milliarden Jahre alten Geschichte des Lebens auf der Erde. Die ersten versteinerten Skelette von Protoceratops und Co. haben vermutlich schon fahrende Händler im antiken Griechenland ausgegraben. Römische Kaiser wie Augustus haben Museen für diese Fossilienfunde gegründet. Viele Jahrhunderte lang war dieses Wissen vergessen – bis es im 18. und 19. Jahrhundert wiederentdeckt wurde. Damals entwickelten die Menschen zum ersten Mal eine Vorstellung davon, dass die Erde Millionen Jahre alt sein könnte – und das versteinerte Tiere und Pflanzen Zeugen aus dieser Urzeit sind. Robert Theiss is an internationally recognized artist, intuitive guide and the author of Living Inside your Passion, Straddling your Freedom, Awakening to your God Self and iSpirit - A New Story. His ability to function as a mentor has made him a highly valued resource to clients worldwide.Robert started his first business, Falcon Designs in 1979 as a custom furnituremaker. His work was featured in Fine Homebuilding, Woodwork Magazine, Fine Furniture Design Book #5, Old House Interiors, American Bungalow, Better Homes and Garden and in the Bellevue Art Museum.In 1989, Robert became interested in alternative healing modalities and in 1993, was initiated as a Reiki master. It was during this time that he created his second business - Ancient Wings. Over the next 5 years, he taught over a 1000 students the art of working with energy. It was in these classes that he became aware of a angelic presence and over time, began to develop a conscious relationship with this being called Michael.In 1998, he began to openly share this relationship. The tools and information presented within a variety of programs and services became know as the Teachings of Michael. Robert Theiss is an internationally recognized artist, intuitive guide and the author of Living Inside your Passion, Straddling your Freedom, Awakening to your God Self and iSpirit - A New Story. His ability to function as a mentor has made him a highly valued resource to clients worldwide.Robert started his first business, Falcon Designs in 1979 as a custom furnituremaker. Husband and wife Carrie Theiss and Chris Chavez got the worst news in 2014—their eldest child, Eli, was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Very sadly, Eli passed away less than two years later from cancer when he was just 8 years old. When Eli was sick, Carrie and Chris say they got assistance not just from their employer, the military, but also from foundations and almost complete strangers. They say this help was so invaluable to them in their time of need and despair that they now want to share this information with other families who made need it. Today, Carrie and Chris are on a mission not only to share their own story about their family and Eli but to also highlight the services and assistance provided by the remarkable organizations that help families like theirs. It's their hope that others will be able to find these resources a little bit easier so that they can receive the help they need sooner.
