After her residency, Ziemer spent one year as a postdoctoral fellow in oncology at the University of Pennsylvania. In this episode, we talk to Christine Ziemer. Dr. Christine Ziemer is a professor of psychology at Missouri Western State University, faculty advisor of the SSDP Chapter, and excellent harm reductionist. Christine became interested in psychedelics and MAPS during her time in graduate school while working for her Ph.D. in psychology. Since then it has been an interest of hers, and over time she grew braver and more confident in her serious dedication to the field of psychedelics and transpersonal psychology. The mainstream growth of psychedelics catapulted her interest and led her to propose new courses to cover the optics of Transpersonal Psych and Psychedelics. These are now regularly offered psychedelic elective courses, and they have compounded interest over the years by the students at Missouri Western! Christine is a healer, educator, and mindfulness leader. Der Traum jedes Pferdebesitzers mit Hund ist der entspannte Ritt zu Dritt. Der Hund trabt brav neben dem Pferdchen her. Das Pferd freut sich über die Begleitung des Hundes und alle drei sind glücklich. Nähert sich ein Traktor, Auto, Hase, Radfahrer oder Fußgänger, braucht man dem Hund nur pfeiffen, "Sitz" oder "Stopp" sagen und schon weicht er nicht mehr von der Seite und auch das Pferd blebt ruhig. So die Idealvorstellung, die mein Gespann, Welshcob-Mama Tessa, Jaghundmischling Ella und ich leider auch nicht ganz erfüllen. Ella habe ich beim Ausritt immer an der Schleppleine, weil sie sonst selbst im flachen Marchfeld über den sieben Bergen bei den sieben Zwergen wäre. Sie bleibt auch nicht auf einer Pferdseite, sondern wechselt sie gerne, weshalb ich die Schleppleine des öfteren über meinen Kopf schwinge. Nicht so, wie man es wahrscheinlich in der Hundeschule lernt, aber aus der bin ich leider mit Ella rausgeflogen. Dafür habe ich in dieser Podcastepisode eine Spezialistin zu Gast AUF TRAB, die Trainerin von Hundetrainerninnen Kristina Ziemer-Falke. Sie hat sehr nützliche Tipps parat, wie man Hund und Pferd aneinander gewöhnt, wie man beide nicht überfordert und wie vor allem alle am Ritt zu Dritt Spaß haben. Marcus Ziemer has been the Sonoma State Men's Soccer head coach for an astounding 31 seasons! Earlier this month, a bill to end fracking--a practice Governor Gavin Newsom claimed he was against as recently as last September, before going silent in the midst of fighting a recall effort--died in the state Senate's Natural Resources and Water Committee, with key Democrats refusing to cast their votes. One of the deadbeat senators was Bob Hertzberg, who screamed at Sacramento City Councilmember Katie Valenzuela last session when she rose in support of a bill to create buffer zones around wells (a provision also included on this fracking bill). Why do these Democrats hate fighting climate change? We know Newsom is afraid of the recall effort. But other state electeds are fearful of stepping on the toes of building trades labor groups, which formed an unholy alliance with Big Oil in recent years. Then there's the money. The state Democratic Chair Rusty Hicks took $330,000 from fossil fuel interests after pledging that he would not do that very thing. When a young party delegate pressed him on this move, saying he wanted a world that he could live in when he was 80, Hicks derisively responded, "I bet you'll enjoy the lights on in your apartment and the gas in your car along the way." Meanwhile, the entire goddamn state is a tinder box, with ongoing drought, unprecedentedly low water levels in our dams, and a promise of increasingly dangerous wildfires in our near future. Newsom has called for a water emergency in Mendocino and Sonoma counties, but he's holding off on any bolder/broader emergency declarations. I think you know the reason for that. Better to downplay the current environmental crisis and ignore the determinants of climate change if it means your governorship is secure for a couple more years, right? Right?

The PMI strategy is targeted to achieve Africa-wide impact by halving the burden of malaria in 70 percent of at-risk populations in sub-Saharan Africa, approximately 450 million people, thereby removing malaria as a major public health problem and promoting economic growth and development throughout the region.PMI is a collaborative U.S. Government effort, led by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) in conjunction with the Department of Health and Human Services (Center for Disease Control and Prevention), the Department of State, the White House, and others. As coordinator, Rear Admiral Ziemer reports to the USAID administrator and has direct authority over both PMI and USAID malaria programs.This episode first aired in January of 2015.

The PMI strategy is targeted to achieve Africa-wide impact by halving the burden of malaria in 70 percent of at-risk populations in sub-Saharan Africa, approximately 450 million people, thereby removing malaria as a major public health problem and promoting economic growth and development throughout the region.PMI is a collaborative U.S. Government effort, led by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) in conjunction with the Department of Health and Human Services (Center for Disease Control and Prevention), the Department of State, the White House, and others. As coordinator, Rear Admiral Ziemer reports to the USAID administrator and has direct authority over both PMI and USAID malaria programs.

At the Gateways of the Mind event in November 2012 in London, I chatted with Mary Ziemer, Lucid Dreaming teacher and practitioner of Lucid Surrender and the Manager of the Dream Research Institute, London.
