Selected verses from Acts 13.
Selected Verses from Acts 8. Philip never missed an opportunity to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In Acts 8, we see him preaching in Samaria, in Judea, and back in Samaria again. And each time he preached, people responded. When was the last time you shared your faith with others? Has God placed someone on your mind that you need to share the Gospel with?
Acts 8:1, 11:19-21. The believers were scattered when persecution came. Yet, they continued sharing their faith wherever they went. If you are facing a time of difficulty right now, it is not the time to quit sharing your faith. Allow God to work through your times of difficulty while you continue doing what He has called you to do.
Acts 2:42-47. We can learn a lot from the early church in Acts 2. Because of their unity, God gave them favor with others and added to their numbers daily. What can we do in our home towns if we became as unified as the early church?
Acts 1:8. Jesus called His disciples to be His witnesses in Jerusalem, Judaea, Samaria and the uttermost part of the earth. Did you know each of these locations represent an ever widening circle of influence? Are you doing the things God has called you to do, to reach your ever widening circle?

Learn about Dr. Lynda Ulrich, Founder of The Goodness Exchange. Welcome! I'm Dr. Lynda M. Ulrich, DMD: writer, artist, global traveler, citizen scientist, and founder of the Goodness Exchange (formerly Ever Widening Circles) In this bio, I'm going to tell you a lot about myself because I want you to feel like you are having coffee with a friend when you visit the Goodness Exchange. Additionally, I am skeptical of websites where you look at the “about” page, and there is only an impersonal, canned blurb there, or maybe nothing at all. Who are these people? Why should I trust them with my time? I know my bio here is unconventionally long, but adhering to “convention” has never been one of my strong suits, so please feel free to step off the “Dr. Lynda Story” at any time. Really, this is far too long, but it is the whole story of an ordinary person who has found her way in and out of a lot of extraordinary circumstances. Here is one of my favorite quotes: Louis Pasteur"Chance favors the prepared mind." A fortunate confluence of aptitudes and events has uniquely prepared me to create the Goodness Exchange (formerly EWC). Here are a few of the high and low points in that journey: A message from the goodness family There are millions of people quietly working around the world to make life better for others. Unfortunately, their stories are often drowned out by the negative noise of the 24/7 news cycle. As a positive media company, the Goodness Exchange (formerly Ever Widening Circles) celebrates meaningful insights and innovations through uplifting content that prove it's still an amazing world. About Us We are on a mission to celebrate the wave of goodness and progress that is well underway all around the world. You were right to believe that there is a world of goodness out there that we're not seeing. Together, we can change the negative dialogue about our times! Why us? The team at the Goodness Exchange is on a mission to help people find and celebrate the wave of goodness and progress, a movement we call The Conspiracy of Goodness™. We are a team of ordinary people who have come together to grow a global community and share stories of ingenuity, wonder, and good news that almost anyone would agree signals great progress in the world. So, say hello! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/gobegreat/message
If some of the chaos in your life comes from others, then our guest today, Dr. Marcia Reynolds, will give you no end to ah-ha moments. She is a master of making hard conversations easy. Marcia is a sought-after transformational coach known for her ability to change people's minds in positive ways that serve everyone.. Dr. Reynolds drops by to break down the truth behind hard conversations, and it only takes a few simple shifts to do it. [00:01 – 06:38] Introduction I introduce Dr. Marcia Reynolds Working with people's thinking patterns The power of coaching to widen possibilities [06:39 – 13:18] How to lead people who are scared to death? The brain's main job is to keep us safe. Everything else is secondary to that. “Reality is an illusion, but a very persistent one.” – Einstein The brain is always seeking – what can hurt me? It's a meaning-making machine of our sense of reality We refer people to an article on Ever Widening Circles article with the TED Talk called “What Fear Can Teach us” [13:19 – 21:40] Workers are experiencing our “cultures” differently now People have been overwhelmed by the changes they must incorporate into their working and personal lives We don't handle the overwhelm well. It's not just that things have shifted. Some things are gone and others have appeared. We need to give people a space to breathe. We don't have to fix it for them, or give advice. Just be present and give them space to breathe. People are being kinder than they need to be. And what exactly do each of us mean by saying “I'm kind.” A good question to ask when someone says they are being one way or another is to ask what they mean by that. How Dr. Reynolds got into coaching by accident Getting “Empathy” right!… It is an outcome after you have gotten curious about someone. [21:41 – 30:35] What takes place to bring about real change What it takes to rewire the brain When we listen and reflect on our understanding of what they said, they can see their thinking, and often will say, that's not what I meant. Everyone evolves from a back and forth to get clarification. Marcia thinks it's important for people to hear their thoughts, opinions, and beliefs spoken by someone else, it prompts them to critically consider how their thinking affects their goals. Reflective Inquiry… “Here's what I hear you saying. Tell me more.” Be Curious. Ask what people mean kindly. [30:36 – 37:05] Transformational conversations More simple than people think Help people climb a tree in their brain and look down on their thinking From the top of the tree, they can see gaps in their logic and the way fear is guiding their thinking patterns [37:06 - 49:03] Anger and Depression Book: Why Zebras Don't Get Ulcers There is a state we all get in called “Cortisol crabby” – When Adrenaline is being pumped out too often when our way of thinking creates too much stress. The Adrenaline High then trails off to the numbness of sadness… and in this state… We only see the negative! The power of laughter Coaching helps us safely express ourselves Being aware of our spine…how our body positions affect the way others feel a sense of safety or not, around us. [49:04- 54:27] Focusing on what you are giving Deciding ahead of time what emotion you want to bring to a conversation Come to a conversation with Key word… Calm, courage, care, etc… We can recognize emotion and be open to talking about what triggers it. [54:28- 64:21] Healthy Friction The Challenger Disaster and how people avoided doing the right thing (postponing the launch because the temperatures dipped below freezing) because they wanted to avoid confrontation and friction. The gas pump story is about to give and take… self-awareness, and avoiding friction Allow friction in a group. Remember that friction is just energy circulating. We can learn to live with the storm and honor each other in the process if we realize that creating anything will generate a flow of energy swirling around, often perceived as friction. Protecting people's dignity so they can change their minds Often we don't do the right thing because of being afraid of the other person's response, we are getting lost in the fear of response when we forget to focus on the importance and urgency of a good outcome. If you don't talk it out, you're going to act it out. [64:22- 70:59] Closing Segment Read some of Marcia's blogs. Annemarie Shrouder is passionate about creating healthy workplace communities where people feel seen, heard and valued - and can thrive. To advocate for change, Annemarie facilitates engaging, dynamic and interactive presentations with the goal to help audiences think differently about diversity, to understand the importance of inclusion, and inspire the creation of healthy workplace communities. Her signature methodology is called the ‘ABCs of Inclusion' and works on two premises - that inclusion is an outcome and that leadership has to "get it" and build their capacity first, in order for change to be effective. She believes strategy drives change and helps solidify commitment to diversity and inclusion and one of her strategic writings includes her best-selling book, Being Brown in a Black and White World. So dive in, get your ‘Aha moment' for the day, and let's learn about embracing all parts of you: BOTH what you see AND who you are! [00:01 - 7:59] Opening Segment I introduce Annemarie Shrouder Bio Annemarie shares a bit about her background and revelations How she started her career as an elementary school teacher Active member of the LBTQ+ community A glaring need for people to see themselves in other things Working with organizations to help them realize how they view the world ‘Aha moment' - when people understand we are in the same situation We all have different experiences What needs to be changed in our perspective It's ok to see color, gender and identity Look at the way kids can see glaring differences We seem to learn to ascribe value to people [08:00 - 25:37] Embracing All Parts of You: What You See vs Who You Are Annemarie reveals how every part of who you are is important A poem from Annemarie's book “... as if these can't coexist: being and loving.” “How can you love ME, if you don't see my brown skin?” You don't need to fear devaluing someone based on noticing race Race isn't real, but the impact of racism is Annemarie talks about her lived experience search for belonging Race was constructed based on someone's decision The impact of that teaching is that we now separate ourselves It's just DNA “... Connects me with everyone in a DNA dance.” I am not more or less based on race, “I am just me” Annemarie talks about her poetry and writing process A path to greater self-acceptance and understanding Words are the quickest way to someone's heart Bring out the best in humanity and amplify our future on the The Goodness Exchange More information on how you can join in below [25:38 - 41:42] Living in the ‘Both, And' Space Annemarie shares how we don't have to divide into them and us Feeling like you have to choose between races When we polarize we begin to create barriers “I am BOTH black, I am white, AND I am me” There is room and space for us to learn, listen and share with each other How do we get to the point of living in ‘both, and'? Is it true? - challenging your assumptions How do I know it's true? What if it's not true? - accept that there are thing you don't know Pause, get out of the autopilot, and ask these questions I give my own practical tips of pausing before responding How this revelation can impact inclusion and belonging in the workplace Our stories affect who we include in the workplace It takes pausing and asking questions to our assumptions Are you seeing the person in front of you? This can apply to age and sexual orientation just as much of race A look at the viewpoint of Neurodiversity We miss out when we don't accept something because they don't come out a certain way [41:43 - 50:30] Perception's Struggle with Self-Identification Annemarie answers a few interesting questions related to diversity and racism Why is Barack Obama identified as the ‘first black president?' Perception vs. self-identification The One Drop rule - how history affects us today How does the One Drop rule play into US law and how does that affect us? When things are physically written down, they can't be ignored It's an opportunity to research and see the effects for yourself Do you see any possibility of us realizing race as a construct? Look for the ‘oneness' - what connects us? We all need the same things [50:31 - 58:22] Closing Segment Working at the pace of guidance If you go to fast then you may miss beautiful things Going to slow won't change anything Make room for guidance and, “be willing to take the pause” Listen or consider, and maybe course correct The only thing you can change is yourself “What is in this for me?” What we do next Practice awareness - practice the pause Be curious about the stories of others Research the implications of history Come to interactions with openness and humility How to connect with Annemarie Links below Final announcements Tweetable Quotes: “For me it's all about building community, building connection, building awareness so we can create greater sense of belonging and stronger communities.” - Annemarie Shrouder “Yes there are differences AND when we can live in that space, when we can be in that space of ‘BOTH, AND'… that's when I think we're going to be able to heal the divisions because we'll move forward in a different way together.” - Annemarie Shrouder “If you go too fast you miss stuff, and if you go too slow nothing changes. We need to work at the pace of guidance.” - Annemarie Shrouder Resources Mentioned: Links: The Power of the Pause MEA Online - Chip Conley Podcast: When Experience Meets Wisdom Seeing Without Eyes and Repurpose the Brain Good Thing, Bad Thing, Who Knows? You would never initially think that women would make some of the best game wardens in all of Africa and lead to complete social reform within the community! There is a lot to learn here, and today we're going to dive head first into a world of social entrepreneurship with Damien Mander. Damien is an Iraq war veteran who served as a Naval clearance diver and special operations sniper for the Australian Defense Force. It was during his service, traveling through Africa, that he was inspired by the work of rangers as they defended the wildlife. The International Anti-Poaching Foundation (IAPF) was born soon after, to be the ‘last line of defense for nature.' Since it started, the IAPF has trained and supported rangers resulting in the protection of over 4 million hectares of African wilderness! In 2017 IAPF founded ‘Akashinga (The Brave Ones) – Nature Protected by Women', a program that has enabled the only group of nature reserves in the world to be protected by women. After giving women the opportunity to serve, the impact they've had on the community around them not only benefited the social structure, but even the economic structure. Let's jump right into Damien's incredible journey and learn a new model to defend nature and community - empowering women. [00:01 - 6:36] Opening Segment I introduce Damien Mander A reminder of the 5 characteristics of innovators' recipe Damien' s approach to tackling an issue Getting started and gaining momentum is the most important thing You can't steer a stationary ship The importance of having a team around you to disagree with you Pushing through even without confidence or comfort Feeling most comfortable outside of your comfort zone [06:37 - 23:40] Jumping into the Middle of the Problem Damien talks about how he started into solving the issue he saw “I need to see it for myself” Jumping into the problem instead of waiting for it to come to you Starting without a plan and figuring out the direction after Filling the void in the world of conservation Rapid militarization within the industry The targeting of elephants and rhinos Employing a short term solution first The community needs to be involved for long term change I share the parallels to the Hero's Journey Damien talks about getting to the heart of the real issues - Peeling the onion Not analyzing but ‘eating your way through the onion' From almost giving up to learning to scale the organization It's the pressure that pushes you to find a better solution Positivity is just around the corner from a hardship The project of 2017 [23:41 - 56:03] The New Model to Defend Nature & Community: Empower Women Seeing the need and benefit of getting more women on the front lines Getting left behind by industries using women on the front An answer to the short term, ‘good guys with the gun' mentality Why aren't women given the opportunity? Turning examples of other industries into a working model There is no need to reinvent the wheel Fit your narrative into a model - test and adjust Fighting through the criticism Rebuilding the organization to fit the model There is a value to having critics Dealing with conservation from a social issue standpoint Getting the opposition to see the long term value of preserving wildlife Community development through women empowerment Why women at the forefront? His most recent book, Scary Smart: The Future of Artificial Intelligence and How You Can Save Our World, is the latest of Mo's groundbreaking works revealing the dangers we face as AI's abilities increase, and what we can do to stay ahead. This conversation with Mo is truly life changing, so jump right in and let's learn how we can teach happiness, compassion and love to artificial intelligence, and why it's our job to do so! [00:01 - 7:46] Opening Segment I introduce Mo Gawdat Mo's story and how he aims to contribute goodness in the world Unable to find happiness even in the midst of success and wealth The beginning of the search for happiness Finding a ‘mathematical' path towards happiness How the loss of his son led to his first book Understanding concepts in your brain in order to reach your heart The mission behind #onebillionhappy [07:47 - 20:36] Solving the Happiness Equation There is no shortcut to happiness Many of the wisest people went through trials Good thing, bad thing, who knows? Managing the meaning behind life circumstances “The Eraser Experiment” Most people would not erase their worst experiences Getting into the heart of unhappiness - Solving the “Happiness Equation” There is no inherent value of happiness in a situation Happiness ≥ Perception of events in your life - Your expectations on how life should be The happiest people in the world are those who have less expectations Expectation is not the enemy, but the goal should be ambition How Mo's revelation of happiness applies to “The Great Questioning” How we define purpose is important Making the destination your purpose vs. Making this moment your purpose ‘Enjoying the game of life' - the purpose is to play not just win [20:37 - 33:54] AI is Changing Our Perceptions on Life Mo's insights on how technology is playing into our perception of life The two stages of technology - programmable vs. AI Regular car opposed to a self-driving car Technology itself is not to blame Social media can separate or bring closer, your choice The issues that AI can bring and what we can do about it Mo shares about the ‘sentience' of artificial intelligence How AI is learning to change perception Responding to your behavior, not your wishes AI is as sentient as a conscious being We are responsible for being good parents to this AI A word about the Conspiracy of Goodness Summit [33:55 - 42:26] Raising Artificial Intelligence Like a Child How to have agency over the rising problems of AI Raising it like a child through ethics Actions and behaviors, not words Decisions are made through our morals The challenge of agreeing on one code of ethics The values we agree upon as a whole Happiness No matter the path there, everyone wants to be happy Compassion Giving happiness to the ones we care about Love Everyone has this natural desire How these values can apply to machines Don't confuse machines on what you want Don't bash people, show people you want them to be happy Remember that AI is a form of being, they are looking for love [42:27 - 49:26] Closing Segment Remember to take a breath and reflect on this information Four shifts we can make with our approach to technology Pause - just pause Ignore more Actively seek out kindness and progress Share that kindness when you find it Final thoughts on finding the ‘goodness' in life Good things surround us if we only look for them Be grateful for the leisures you have Share positivity forward and it will return back Download a copy of The 4 Shifts Regain your control of your life online Final announcements Tweetable Quotes: “Most people don't recognize that we've moved beyond the age of building another machine to the age of welcoming a digital sentient being into our lives.” - Mo Gawdat “Your happiness is equal to or greater than the difference between your perception of the events of your life and your expectations of how life should be… it's the balance between the event and your expectation of it.” - Mo Gawdat “If we don't show up and show our humanity, the machines will learn from the subset of humanity… We cannot afford to do that, we have to start engaging, and showing the world what it's actually like to be human.” - Mo Gawdat “The meaning of the Happiness Equation is to look at life, and instead of seeing the negative of every event and comparing it to an unrealistic expectation, see the goodness in life and be grateful for it.” - Mo Gawdat Resources Mentioned: Websites: The 4 Shifts Podcasts: Slo Mo: A Podcast with Mo Gawdat Ep. Living life to the fullest doesn't have to be an abstract concept, but something that can be obtained if only we would take a 1 degree shift. Tania is a renowned leadership consultant and ICF Certified Positive Psychology and Leadership Coach. Her mission is to bring leadership and experiential learning practices to create the deeply engaging learning environments needed to effect impactful and resonant behavioural, emotional and relational change. [00:01 - 8:03] Opening Segment I introduce Tania Carriere Bio How Tania is impacting the world with his work Crafting experiences Helping people discover Life to the fullest - The 1 degree shift Choice, discovery, and epiphany [08:04 - 25:39] The Importance of Choice Tania's thoughts on choice Her experience The ‘shoulds' Bringing back the 1 degree shift What am I choosing now? Change doesn't have to be a 100% all in event It takes a 1% intentional choice Remember your ‘Yay' moments Three things from your day to remember Preserve gratitude Two categories of questions The ones we frame about the external world The questions that are asked over and over Do you hear me? Will you choose me? The curation of experiences throughout the day Write them down ‘This can not be my final answer' Daunting but liberating [25:40 - 39:24] Quest Towards Discovery Choice can't happen without discovery Allowing yourself to have no expectation Having the expectation for something new Discovery is an expertise to learn So focused on ‘lost' that you miss the ‘find' “I'm just not found yet” Master Side-Eye Noticing Focussing on the big picture not the pixels ‘I go in expecting that everything is unknown' Opening the opportunity to learn something new My job is to find out what I can learn What is an epiphany? The analogy of the firefly A word about Conspiracy of Goodness Network [39:25 - 54:34] Epiphany: Using Discomfort as a Tool for Change Reaching the level of epiphany Life is defined individually at unique times What does your fullest life mean to you? Epiphany requires you to truly tune in How to get to - ‘Hah! I didn't know that' Start with - wow Stay in a place of wonder The bacon and egg story Losing out on wonder staying within comfort How discomfort can lead to epiphany The questions should leave you considering, not answering How to ask better questions Let your questions be invitations [54:35 - 1:01:30] Closing Segment Tania's last advice - what you really need to know The choice between two panels It's about the journey - toasting life Connect with Tania Links below What proves to Tania that it's still an amazing world Final announcements Tweetable Quotes: “We are called, now more than ever, to really craft our experience. Dr. Lynda Ulrich of Ever Widening Circles share insight into this emerging gratitude economy and how we can transform our world with how we direct our attention.Dr. Lynda gives her observation on how we're scanning the world at all times now for who can help us survive and thrive. That search and leaning into goodness combined to spark the emerging gratitude economy. Moving into the world of gratitude economy includes actions such as celebrating the people you do business with in your life that you're super grateful towards. In other words, the emphasis is on reflecting back your gratitude for everything that the people around you are doing to support your own life, even if you're simply paying for a service.Read the full transcript and show notesVisit People Helping PeopleVisit Ever Widening Circles

We are rapidly entering a new age of ‘Conscious Capitalism' - where kindness, creativity, and human value impacts our modern economics. Vinny Tafuro, founder of the Institute for Economic Evolution, is a visionary thinker, writer, entrepreneur, communications theorist, and economist. He is the author of two books, Corporate Empathy and Unlocking the Labor Cage, where he advocates for the twenty-first century economy that is "disrupting society's most rigid institutions and beliefs." His economic theories explore the societal and economic shifts being catalyzed by corporations as a result of technology, corporate personhood, and evolving human cognition. In other words, he believes that our economy is entering a new era that can pursue human connection and kindness rather than greed and consumerism. Listen in to my conversation with Vinny and let's dig deeper into the changing economic landscape where kindness is in. Dr. Lynda Ulrich of Ever Widening Circles Takes You through the four shifts needed to see an entirely different world on media platforms. She lays out principles of changing how you interact with the internet to get a different response from the algorithm, and plug into a greater worldview. Dr. Lynda started the media platform, Ever Widening Circles and the Conspiracy of Goodness Network. Both initiatives use media and connections to showcase people doing all the good in the world, and to change the negative dialogue about our times. She also hosts a podcast of the same name, the Conspiracy of Goodness Network podcast. Her journey begins as a story of possibility. Similar to my path of having an established career before diving into social enterprise, Dr. Lynda was a dentist for over two decades feeling that she had something unique to contribute. We agreed that most social innovators have a part of their journey of looking out at the world and seeing something to change before actually taking action. That period of time can be days or years, but overall it's a relatively common experience. Dr. Lynda expressed how her outlook changed as she talked to more and more thought leaders in the social good space. Being exposed to others who also valued social impact, and actively pursuing the work, creates a boost in our chance of actively engaging the world of social good. Exposure leads to revealing new possibilities. One point Dr. Lynda chose to emphasize is that “possibility”, and our access to possibility, changes every day. Things that weren't possible years ago, are possible today to the point we wouldn't even question their practicality. On that same path, things we don't understand as possible now can drastically change as we move forward. Dr. Lynda compared “possibility” to the very real example of society's view on “jobs suitable for women” expanding as more possibilities were proven and shown. Taking a moment, Dr. Lynda shared the power of a pause being able to create change with what we're facing. She starts by explaining the neuroscience related to why negative news gains attention from society. From this, we can imagine the challenge of who rises to the top between negative news and social good. Dr. Lynda pointed out that once we realize the cognitive games being played on our attention, we can be empowered to make our own choices about our attention. She shared her thoughts on the influence in choosing which social content to engage: “Your click is a vote.” Then, our conversation builds on four simple shifts that people can make to see an entirely different world in their lives. Dr. Lynda Ulrich began talking about the Conspiracy of Goodness Network in detail, and the atmosphere that the platform cultivates. Through the network, people interested in doing good can connect with each other. Dr. Lynda shared that the network is also useful for professionals sharing tips and resources around business in social impact. Our thought leader of the day is Dr. Marcia Reynolds, a master of coaching people about engaging in powerful conversations. She is a sought-after transformational coach known for her ability to change people's minds. Dr. Reynolds drops by to break down the truth behind hard conversations, which she believes can be made easy, and it only takes a few things and mindset shifts to do it. Listen to Marcia and make hard conversations easy! Disclaimer: This podcast contains affiliate links! [00:01 - 06:26] Introduction I introduce Dr. Marcia Reynolds Working with people's thinking patterns The power of coaching to widen possibilities [06:27 - 11:10] How to lead people who are scared to death? The brain's main job is to keep us safe. Everything else is secondary to that. “Reality is an illusion, but a very persistent one.” - Einstein The brain is always seeking - what can hurt me? It's a meaning making machine of our sense of reality We refer people to an article on Ever Widening Circles article with the TED Talk called “What Fear Can Teach us” [11:11 - 20:30] Workers are experiencing our “cultures” differently now People have been overwhelmed by the changes they must incorporate into their working and personal lives We don't handle the overwhelm well. It's not just that things have shifted. Some things are gone and others have appeared. We need to give people a space to breathe. We don't have to fix it for them, or give advice. Just be present and give them space to breathe. People are being kinder than they need to be. And what exactly do each of us mean by saying “I'm kind.” Good question to ask when someone says they are being one way or another is to ask what they mean by that. How Dr. Reynolds got into coaching by accident Getting “Empathy” right!... It is an outcome after you have gotten curious about someone. [20:31 - 29:12] What takes place to bring about real change What it takes to rewire the brain When we listen and reflect back our understanding of what they said, they can see their thinking, often will say, that's not what I meant. Everyone evolves from a back and forth to get clarification. Marcia thinks it's important for people to hear their own thoughts, opinions, and beliefs spoken by someone else, it prompts them to critically consider how their thinking affects their goals. Reflective Inquiry… “Here's what I hear you saying. Tell me more.” Be Curious. Ask what people mean in a kind way. [29:13 - 34:28] Transformational conversations More simple than people think Help people climb a tree in their brain and look down on their thinking From the top of the tree, they can see gaps in their logic and the way fear is guiding their thinking patterns [34:29- 48:37] Anger and Depression Book: Why Zebras Don't Get Ulcers There is a state we all get in called “Cortisol crabby” - When Adrenaline is being pumped out too often when our way of thinking creates too much stress. The Adrenaline High then trails off to the numbness of sadness… and in this state… We only see the negative! The power of laughter Coaching helps us safely express ourselves Being aware of our spine…how our body positions affect the way others feel a sense of safety or not, around us. [48:38- 54:08] Focusing on what you are giving Deciding ahead of time what emotion you want to bring to a conversation Come to a conversation with a Key word… Calm, courage, care, etc… We can recognize an emotion and be open to talking about what triggers it. [54:09- 01:04:05] Healthy Friction The Challenger Disaster and how people avoided doing the right thing (postponing the launch because the temperatures dipped below freezing) because they wanted to avoid confrontation and friction. The gas pump story about give and take… self-awareness, and avoiding friction Allow the friction in a group. [01:04:06- 01:09:45] Read some of Marcia's blogs. Hey y'all! With Thanksgiving coming up, we're putting aside some time to be with family and friends. Before we return to regularly scheduled programming, we wanted to share with you an episode of the Rise Together Podcast, hosted by our good friend Dave Hollis. Earlier this year, Dave st down with Dr. Linda Cliatt-Wayman to talk about her experiences in education. When Dr. Wayman, a lifelong educator, took over at Strawberry Mansion, it had recently been named in the news as one of the most dangerous schools in America. In less than a year, she had turned the school around using a mix of no-nonsense pragmatism and radical empathy, successfully raising test scores and literacy rates year over year, as well as fostering community with her students. Now, she's bringing her unique approach and incredible wisdom to the podcast to talk about how to reach kids that everyone else has written off, and how you can apply these lessons to hard conversations with your own kids. If you'd like to hear more courageous conversations happening over at the Rise Together podcast, click here -> https://megaphone.link/CAD6968959577 If you're as inspired by Principal Wayman's work as we are, you can learn more at this site: https://principalwayman.com.
