On the morning of May 17th, 2014, a detective wrote furiously as she sat next to the hospital bed of a mortally-injured 77-year-old woman. The woman had been in a coma for the last ten days, and the detective had been desperately working to figure out who had tried to kill her. Now that the woman had woken up, the detective was finally getting the chance she'd been waiting for – to ask her victim directly. But the woman was afraid. She told the detective she had a lot to say, but she couldn't say it here, at the hospital – because she was still in danger. Story of the Week (DR):War against women continues: Uber Not Responsible for Sex Assault, Jury Finds, as More Cases FollowEthan P. Schulman, the judge presiding over the California state court cases, told jurors that Uber would be responsible for the woman's harm if the company was negligent in using adequate safety measures and the negligence was a “substantial factor” in causing the harm.In its decision, the jury unanimously agreed that Uber had been negligent in its general safety practices when the incident occurred in 2016 — but that the negligence was not a substantial factor in causing the attack. After an agonising last-minute equaliser in Monaco (with a fair bit of controversy thrown in), David Mooney is joined by City fan Dan Burke and, from Sporting News, Dom Farrell, to discuss Manchester City's victory over Burnley and their draw in the Champions League. Did the scorelines of each game tell the whole story? Possibly not. Erling Haaland's brace against Burnley made him the Premier League's top-scoring Norwegian, so we take a look at all of the other players that have played City who are their country's leading marksman in the top flight (and we discuss some of our favourite goals by them). Then, as City travel to Brentford, before the international break, we hear from Mike Johnston from The Ealing Road podcast to find out about their start to the season - plus we look ahead to the match and what we want to see from Pep Guardiola's side. We also take some time out to mention some awful refereeing decisions from the past, plus look at Bernardo Silva's pre-match comments about his future.

Monaco and Nice are not the biggest clubs in the South of France — that's Marseille — but they maintain a testy feud that carries the cultural differences between the two towns. The Principality of Monaco is fiercely independent from France but plays in Ligue 1 alongside Nice, a gorgeous but (somewhat) less glitzy destination than the champagne-and-caviar precincts of the Monégasques.AS Monaco has a rich footballing tradition in recent decades, from the Arsène Wenger days (and those of Thierry Henry and George Weah) to more recent times, when the club has been a kind of finishing school for elite talent like Kylian Mbappé and Bernardo Silva. OGC Nice has not enjoyed the same success recently, and yet engenders fierce support rooted in deep tradition that Monaco can't always match: the Stade Louis II, where this weekend's match will be played, has inconsistent attendance in a town where football isn't always paramount.Meanwhile, both clubs are seeing varying levels of fan revolt over poor results and msigivings about how they're run — not least Nice, where fans are even more disenchanted with Sir Jim Ratcliffe than Manchester United supporters. That combined with a rebellion against French footballing authorities has spurred a boycott among Nice ultras, who will not be attending this match or enjoying their traditional mass scooter procession across the 20-or-so kilometers from Nice to Monaco.Joining us to break it all down is Jonathan Johnson, a Paris-based French football expert.if you like what you hear in this episode, leave us a rating and review! It helps spread the good word about The Football Weekend. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Welcome to a Special Documentary Episode of The Voice of Insurance podcast Produced in association with Stephens Rickard This is the fourth episode of its kind. The first saw a historic, chaotic, dramatic hard market renewal unfold, at the next stability and a return to orderliness was craved - and was granted. Last year animal spirits started to be talked of in hushed tones, but it was too early for anything like a full return. This year the reinsurance industry has its mojo well and truly back. Capital has been fully replenished. Profits are real and there is increasing confidence that they are to a large extent baked in for a time. Surprise multi-billion dollar loss events have been weathered and yet instead of apologising to our investors for poor results we are still set to report and project healthy profits and returns on capital. Profitable growth is still on the agenda The real questions this year are of a more philosophical nature: Can everyone grow profitably without changing the nature of the market? Is it better to buy or build? Should capital be returned or deployed in M&A? What's different now, and what's not? We came to Monaco knowing that reinsurers were likely to have to give a little to get a little, but the question was what and how much were they were prepared to trade in return for a little more of what they really wanted. So join me as I wander the streets, dodge the supercars, cross the squares and elbow my way through the crowded bars and lobbies to meet a representative cross-section of the reinsurance buying and selling public and find out what's happening in the State of (Re)insurance.
