CSAM (Child S*x Abuse Materials, formerly known as "child p*rn") is one of the most prolific underground crimes of our generation. Most people don't understand it, and many people don't want to look at it or acknowledge it. The reality is that it is truly horrific, traumatic and for most of us it is downright disgusting. But we cannot look the other way. A child's whole life is at stake. CSAM happens when a pedophile (or groups of pedophiles) either seduces a minor into sending self-generated images of nudity or illicit sexual poses, or a child is violated by a predator/pedophile and the event is memorialized by photos, videos, or recorded live streaming. After the initial violation is recorded, the images are often shared over and over in large scale pedophile rings around the world. The young victim experiences re-victimization over and over as the images are shared, and they often feel helpless as it is nearly impossible to get the images back.During this week's podcast we will explore how underground pedophile rings operated in the Dark Net and Bulletproof Hosting sites and Peer to Peer Networks. We will look at a recent news release about how CSAM administrators and participants used crypto currency to pay for tokens to subscribe to a CSAM ring with over 1.8 MILLION participants. We will also discover how law enforcement was able to work with block chain technology, and Binance, the world's largest crypto exchange to identify 1400 of the participants and arrest and bring down 79 suspects. Technology is not good or bad. It is how it is used. Pedophiles are getting more and more sophisticated and so is law enforcement. Mannen borde aldrig dömts.Hovrätten instämmer visserligen, det finns faktafel i målet. Men man fastställer ändå domen. Det är verkligen huvudmannen bakom Flugsvamp 3.0 man hittat och dömt. Även om man aldrig kunnat bevisa att han loggat in på marknadsplatsen. Nu sitter mannen av sitt straff på Kumla-anstalten. Men han hävdar fortfarande sin oskuld och menar att rättsväsendet dömt honom eftersom de inte förstått den komplexa utredningen. Under tiden i häktet och vid tings- och hovrättsförhandlingarna nekade mannen konsekvent till intervjuer. Décary-Hétu's research focuses on studying data from offenders who use anonymity technologies like the dark web, cryptocurrencies, and encryption. He reveals that the dark web was originally developed by the military to enable anonymous communication, and that while the dark web and other anonymity technologies pose challenges for law enforcement, they are not the unbreakable havens for crime that are sometimes portrayed in media. The dark web enables new types of crime, but repeated disruptions of dark web markets can lead to some offenders becoming discouraged and quitting.

If you were to walk around a Russian city, you might not realise it but hundreds of small packages of drugs, could be just below the surface, buried in the ground, or maybe attached to the back of a nearby drainpipe with magnets, or hidden inside a hole in a wall. These little "treasures" have been ordered online from a vendor operating on a darknet platform and then hidden by couriers known as 'Kladmen' all over the place waiting to be collected - this is the "dead drop" method.The darknet markets servicing Russia have revolutionized the illicit drug markets in the country, which has seen an explosion in the consumption of synthetic drugs like methadone, mephedrone or Alpha-PVP. The vendors run a network of chemists, wholesalers, and Kladmen. Sportsman, hired thugs, roam around looking for Seagulls (people who steal dead drops) and punishing Kladmen on behalf of vendors, before uploading the punishments to social media as a warning to others.For many years, Hydra, the largest DNM the world has ever known, defeated all competition and reigned supreme, handling over $5 billion dollars of cryptocurrency during its lifespan. But in 2022, it was taken down and like the mythical beast it was named after, new heads sprouted in its place - OMG!OMG!, Mega, Kraken, Blacksprut - all vying for position, competing for market share and creating the most audacious public marketing stunts and highly produced online videos. The DNMs, with connections to the precursor markets of China and India, operate on TOR, have pushed synthetic drugs into all corners of Russia, democratizing the production process, with how-to guides and readily available lab equipment, and even created an apprenticeship scheme for prospective Kladmen, with a guaranteed job at the end. The whole process is highly anonymised from production to transportation, and from purchase to delivery through the dead drop method.
