This episode is a little different than usual—less about a specific encounter and more about an honest, thoughtful conversation. Brian welcomes Luke from Canada, who reached out not to share a dramatic story, but simply to sit down and talk about Sasquatch, research, and where the subject is headed. What followed was an open, candid exchange that reflects what happens when two curious minds meet without an agenda beyond understanding. In this conversation, Brian and guest Luke, a seasoned hunter and dedicated Sasquatch researcher from Alberta, Canada, dive into the serious side of Bigfoot research. Luke talks about his evolution from a casual observer to someone deeply invested in field documentation, stressing the importance of ruling out ordinary explanations and looking for patterns and consistency rather than chasing sensational moments.Brian opens up about the balancing act of being a content creator in the Sasquatch world—trying to entertain while staying grounded in responsible research—and the skepticism and ridicule that often come with that territory. Together, they explore how modern tools like drones and AI are changing the research landscape, as well as how documentaries and media portrayals shape public perception of the subject. The conversation ultimately circles back to the need for honesty, open-mindedness, and intellectual humility within the research community.Rather than trying to convince anyone, Brian and Luke encourage listeners to think critically, stay curious, and if they choose to explore the woods, to do so responsibly and with respect for both nature and the mystery itself.Email BrianGet Our FREE NewsletterGet Brian's Books Leave Us A VoicemailVisit Our WebsiteBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/sasquatch-odyssey--4839697/support.

459: Why Traditional Healing Methods Fall Short for Betrayal Recovery

Episode Overview  If you've been struggling with betrayal for a long time despite trying multiple healing approaches, this episode reveals why well-meaning practitioners and proven methodologies often miss the mark when it comes to betrayal-specific recovery.  Key Topics Covered  Why Life Coaching Isn't Enough  Life coaching excels at goal setting, accountability, and mindset shifts  Works beautifully for career advancement, relationship improvement, and business growth  Falls short for betrayal survivors because you're not starting from the same place  When betrayed, your reality is shattered and your nervous system is in crisis  The Therapy Gap  Traditional therapy covers diagnostic criteria, CBT, trauma treatment, and mental health conditions  Post Betrayal Syndrome® isn't in the DSM yet, so therapists don't know to look for it  Over 100,000 people have taken the Post Betrayal Syndrome assessment with staggering symptom statistics  Physical, mental, and emotional symptoms like brain fog, anxiety, hypervigilance, sleep and gut issues all share one underlying cause  The Trust Rebuilding Misconception  Relationship coaches often focus solely on rebuilding trust with the betrayer  Multiple aspects of trust are shattered: trust in yourself, others, your intuition, and your judgment  Rebuilding trust with your partner is actually the last piece, not the first  Why Other Modalities Fall Short  Trauma-informed training: Doesn't differentiate betrayal from other traumas  Somatic training: Critical for nervous system regulation but doesn't address the complete framework  Attachment training: Valuable for relationship patterns but doesn't address identity shattering  Grief counseling: Helpful but betrayal involves grief PLUS reality disruption, identity crisis, and complete trust shattering  The Five Stages from Betrayal to Breakthrough™  General trauma treatment doesn't account for betrayal-specific stages  Someone in Stage 2 presents very differently than someone in Stage 3, 4, or 5  Understanding the stages reveals why certain responses occur and what's needed to progress  The Timing Problem  Right tools at the wrong time backfire  Stage 2 (shock/trauma) clients aren't ready for accountability structures  Stage 4 clients don't need basic nervous system regulation anymore  Proper healing requires the right modalities at the right stage  The Stage 3 Trap  What a Stage 3 Life Looks Like:  Surviving but not thriving  Managing and suppressing Post Betrayal Syndrome symptoms  Keeping people at bay out of fear  Building a safe but flat life  67% of betrayed individuals prevent forming deep relationships to avoid being hurt again  84% have an inability to trust again (out of 100,000+ studied)  The Ripple Effects:  Limited depth in relationships  Challenges with workplace collaborations and partnerships  Inability to trust yourself, your judgment, or your perception of reality  Attracting more of the same situations  Making decisions from Stage 3 thinking versus Stage 4 or 5 thinking  The Solution  Why Specialized Betrayal Training Matters:  All aspects need rebuilding: physical, mental, emotional, psychological, and spiritual  Requires a proven roadmap through all five stages  Not just talk therapy, not just somatic work, not just goal setting—all of it together at the right time  Updated PBT Certification:  Newly revised certification modules  New exam, experiential exercises, forms, and worksheets  Designed to help clients identify their current stage and move to the next one  Makes it easier to work with clients using stage-specific tools  Key Statistics  Over 100,000 people have taken the Post Betrayal Syndrome assessment  67% prevent forming deep relationships due to fear of being hurt again  84% report an inability to trust again  The Bottom Line  There's no reason to stay stuck in Stage 3. People need to get back to their lives, their work, their kids, families, and friends in the way they can only do when they heal. The roadmap exists—it's the Five Stages from Betrayal to Breakthrough™.    Resources Mentioned:  Post Betrayal Syndrome® Assessment  PBT (Post Betrayal Transformation) Certification: https://thepbtinstitute.com/get-certified/   The Five Stages from Betrayal to Breakthrough™: https://thepbtinstitute.com   For Practitioners: The more coaches, practitioners, and healers who become certified in this methodology, the more people can access the specialized help they need for betrayal recovery.    Discover why traditional therapy, life coaching, and healing methods fall short for betrayal recovery. The chat group story has gone crazy wild, and the reactions have been satisfying. Street protests are organized, dangerous and well planned. They are not dumb. When legitimacy shifts, power and control fail. License plate data is made accessible. They hide behind trusted roles. Never burn your persona. Hospitals collect data. They publish guides on how to occupy buildings, what's acceptable violence, and how to kill MAGA. Lots of fed employees involved. Onward and upward, is an owned slogan. Terrain dominance plans. Why didn't they do all this earlier? Good independent journalists are supported by the people. Stephen King admits the 2020 reality. Remember when Kammie bailed out the protesters? Arrest wills are what again? They even do pet sitting for those arrested. It's our tax dollars funding all this. Remember, Obama was behind CISA. A video on basic street care for injured radicals. Their presentations always obscure true intent. Role being played and good logistics. They want scrutiny. Hiding behind legit social groups. Planned immigration wars started with the Greeks. We're going to see more of this. Insane asylums to the rescue? Maybe. When the truth comes out, many people are going to lose their minds.

Send us a textIf you're the one everyone turns to, you might be carrying more than you realize. We sit down with psychotherapist and mental wellness consultant Leah Marone to unpack the “serial fixer” habit—why it thrives in first responder culture and how it quietly fuels burnout, resentment, and frayed relationships. Leah works extensively with police, fire, EMS, and dispatch, and she brings sharp, compassionate insights you can use today without adding hours to your schedule. We break down the real difference between therapy and consulting, then rebuild the foundation of wellness with small, sustainable practices: bookending your mornings and nights, using micro resets during daily transitions, and reclaiming self-care as single-task presence instead of numbing or multitasking. Leah introduces a practical rule that changes conversations fast—support, don't solve—along with validation skills that help teammates, partners, and kids think more clearly and take ownership. You'll hear how the fixer impulse can become “compassion as control,” why quick advice often backfires, and how to replace that urge with grounded presence.Expect concrete tools and memorable metaphors. The internal “balloon” lets you notice pressure before it pops, and that shaken “soda bottle” reminds you to release slowly, not explode. We also cover sleep hygiene as the no‑nonsense cornerstone of recovery, data collection to challenge “dark cloud” thinking, and first responder-ready ways to downshift from high gear without losing your edge. If you want stronger boundaries, steadier energy, and deeper connection, this conversation will help you change your default settings. To reach Leah, here is the link to her work: https://linktr.ee/leahmaronelcswIf this resonates, tap follow, share it with a teammate who needs lighter armor, and leave a quick review so more first responders can find these tools. Send us a textStop waiting on the market to bless you with deals. We're pulling back the curtain on the five public-record lead sources that keep producing—foreclosure, divorce, probate, unpaid taxes, and bankruptcy—and showing how to work them step by step. I walk through the real foreclosure timeline, what your county site actually reveals, and why most investors show up months late with stale lists. You'll learn where bankruptcy filings live, how to match them to foreclosure records, and why those last-minute moves signal a seller who needs real help right now. This conversation blends strategy with story. I share how losing a house and a car pushed me to the courthouse, a paper map, and door knocking with a baby on my hip—and how that grit led to the first $22k, then $50k, and a career built on solving people's problems. We talk scripts that lead with options and empathy, from loan mods and forbearance to selling as-is or using creative financing when it makes sense. If you've ever felt paralyzed by headlines—rates, inventory, recession chatter—this is your antidote: consistent deals rooted in life events that never stop. You'll leave with a simple plan: pull fresh filings from the last 45–60 days, prioritize by sale dates, and reach out directly. Door knock if you can. If not, combine letters, calls, and social DMs that promise tangible help and a clean exit if needed. That's how you create triple wins for owners, banks, and your business while stacking steady “gold bricks” of profit. Ready to build a recession-proof pipeline? Highly effective managers don't rely on titles, tactics, or endless to-do lists. They lead with intention. Today, Rich Horwath is joined by Ashley Herd, former Chief People Officer, founder and author of The Manager Method, to unpack what truly drives managerial effectiveness in today's complex workplace. Ashley introduces the idea of a “career quilt,” encouraging leaders to see diverse experiences as strategic assets rather than detours. She shares how stepping back from linear career thinking enables managers to make clearer decisions, build stronger relationships, and align daily work with long-term goals. The discussion centers on Ashley's Pause–Consider–Act framework, a practical tool for navigating difficult conversations, prioritizing effectively, and leading more humanely. The result is a repeatable approach that helps managers drive results, strengthen engagement, and avoid burnout.

The Rule That Broke For a decade, SEO had one simple goal: rank higher than everyone else. That rule just died. Patients are not typing “orthodontist near me” and clicking through five websites anymore. They are asking ChatGPT. They are reading Google AI Overviews. They are using conversational tools that skip the ten blue links entirely. Here’s what most practices have not realized yet. AI search engines do not rank practices. They select them. If you are not selected, you are invisible. Your beautiful website does not matter. Your years of “doing SEO” do not matter. This shift changes everything. Get your Free SEO Audit: https://hip.agency/contact/ Grab your copy of Orthodontic Practice SEO: Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0GGBWLBLR Apple: https://books.apple.com/us/book/orthodontic-practice-seo/id6757766846 From Rankings To Recommendations Traditional search worked like a phone book. You searched. You clicked. You compared. You decided. AI search collapses that entire process into one conversation. Instead of forcing patients to research five options, AI tools recommend providers directly. Often just one or two practices. That’s it. This is not a ranking system. It’s a trust system. Google’s AI Overviews answer questions directly at the top of results. ChatGPT does not pretend to be a search engine. It acts like a knowledgeable assistant guiding decisions in real time. When a parent asks, “Who’s the best orthodontist for Invisalign for my teen near me?” the AI does not say: “Here are ten websites. Good luck.” It says: “Based on your needs, I recommend these providers.” If you are not in that answer, you do not get a second chance. Free Growth Session Why Your Old SEO Playbook Just Stopped Working Classic SEO rewarded keywords, backlinks, page optimization, and technical performance. All of that still matters, but it’s no longer enough. AI engines work differently. They summarize instead of list. They cite instead of rank. They select sources instead of pages. Instead of ordering websites by relevance, AI evaluates who appears trustworthy, who demonstrates real expertise, and who can be safely recommended without risk. This explains why some practices with fewer backlinks or lower traditional rankings suddenly appear in AI answers while others with “strong SEO” vanish completely. AI is not asking, “Who optimized best?” It’s asking, “Who do I trust enough to recommend?” The Real Ranking System — Trust Over Traffic Every AI search engine relies on the same decision framework. ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, Perplexity. All of them. They look for three core signals. 1. Topical Authority Do you own the topic, or are you just scratching the surface? One Invisalign page optimized for keywords no longer signals expertise. AI looks for topic ownership. A full ecosystem of content proving you understand the subject from every angle. Cost and financing. Treatment timelines. Comparisons versus alternatives. Maintenance and care. Suitability for teens versus adults. Risks, outcomes, and expectations. If your site answers only one of these, AI assumes you are not the expert. 2. Verifiable Credibility AI does not trust claims. It trusts proof. It actively scans for board certification, recognized provider tiers, awards and “best of” recognition, years in practice, case volume, and external validation. These signals matter more now because AI must justify its recommendations. It cannot guess. 3. External Trust Signals AI does not rely solely on your website. It cross-checks reviews across multiple platforms. Not just Google. Authoritative directories. Press mentions. Industry listings. Community validation. The more independent sources confirm your legitimacy, the more comfortable AI becomes recommending you. Free Growth Session Why One Page Will Never Be Enough Again For years, SEO rewarded focus. Pick a keyword. Optimize a page. Build links. Win. AI rewards depth. When someone asks about Invisalign, AI does not want a sales page. It wants confidence that you are the authority. That’s why topical clusters matter now. One core Invisalign page. Supporting pages on cost, care, timelines, and alternatives. FAQs written in clear, extractable language. Structured formatting AI can easily parse. This is not about writing more content for the sake of content. It’s about removing doubt. AI selects practices that leave no unanswered questions. The Trust Signals That Actually Trigger Recommendations Here’s where most practices fall short. They have credibility. They just do not surface it clearly enough for AI to verify. AI strongly favors practices that explicitly showcase board certification with outbound verification links, awards tied to authoritative publications, review volume across multiple platforms, mentions from high-authority websites, and transparent doctor bios with credentials and education. This is why press placements and authoritative citations now punch far above their weight. A single mention on a trusted outlet can matter more than dozens of generic backlinks. AI recognizes the source. Free Growth Session Being Selected Beats Being Ranked Traditional SEO is competitive. AI visibility is compounding. Once AI begins recommending a practice, it appears repeatedly in similar conversations. Each mention reinforces authority. The practice becomes a default choice. This mirrors early Google SEO, but with fewer spots and higher stakes. In classic search, being number five still meant traffic. In AI search, being number five often means nothing. Only the selected practices win. How To Become The Practice AI Chooses This is not theory. It’s execution. Here’s what actually moves the needle. Shift from pages to topic ecosystems. Own entire treatment categories, not just keywords. Surface credibility aggressively and clearly. Credentials, awards, and experience should be impossible to miss. Expand reviews beyond Google. AI pulls from multiple platforms. Diversification matters. Secure authoritative citations, not random links. Focus on sources AI already trusts. Structure content for AI extraction. Clear headers, FAQs, concise answers, and schema markup. Actively monitor AI recommendations. Search manually. Track visibility. Learn from who’s being selected and why. Free Growth Session Trust Is The New Ranking Factor SEO did not disappear. It evolved. The practices that will win over the next decade are not the ones chasing algorithms. They are the ones building undeniable credibility. AI does not reward clever tricks. It rewards certainty. In a world where patients increasingly let AI guide their decisions, the question is no longer “How do I rank higher?” It’s “Why should AI trust me enough to recommend me at all?” Answer that convincingly, and rankings stop mattering. Why Your Marketing Metrics Mean Nothing If Sales Isn't Hitting Numbers with Scott Logan | Ep. #312

    Selling With Social Sales Podcast

Are your marketing efforts creating a real pipeline or just impressive-looking metrics that don't translate to revenue? Too many marketing teams celebrate vanity metrics while sales teams struggle to hit their numbers. There's a disconnect that's costing companies serious money. In this conversation with Scott Logan, Chief Marketing Officer at AmplifAI, we explore a radical approach to marketing that puts sales success at the center of everything. Scott brings a unique perspective, having started as a sales rep before moving into marketing operations, giving him firsthand experience on both sides of the revenue equation. The Revenue-First Marketing Philosophy Scott challenges the traditional marketing mindset with a bold statement: marketing's only purpose is to help sales sell more. This isn't about diminishing marketing's value—it's about aligning every marketing activity with measurable business outcomes that matter. We discuss why marketing teams should share the same dashboards, filters, and success metrics as sales teams. When marketing and sales are looking at different definitions of success, you create organizational friction that slows down deals and confuses buyers. Breaking Through the Noise with Strategic Creativity Forget cookie-cutter marketing playbooks. Scott shares compelling examples of how creative thinking beats big budgets every time. From a $500 billboard strategy that outperformed million-dollar campaigns to trade show tactics that generated equal engagement with a fraction of the staff, these stories prove that strategic thinking trumps traditional approaches. The key insight? Your competitors are following the same best practices you are. To stand out, you need to think differently about how you create awareness and engage prospects. AI-Powered Marketing That Actually Works We explore practical applications of AI in marketing that go beyond content generation. Scott explains how his team uses AI to analyze competitor landscapes, extract insights from sales calls, and turn complex survey data into actionable intelligence - all in minutes rather than weeks. One particularly interesting case study involves a summer intern who completed what should have been a three-week manual project in just one day using AI, demonstrating the productivity gains available to teams willing to embrace these tools strategically. The Compensation Alignment Game-Changer Here's where Scott gets controversial: every marketing role should have compensation tied directly to sales quota achievement. Not just at the leadership level, but down to individual contributors working on specific campaigns or content pieces. This alignment creates a fundamental shift in how marketing teams think about their work. When your bonus depends on the sales team hitting their numbers, every campaign decision gets filtered through a different lens. Here's what you'll gain from this conversation: 1.    A framework for aligning marketing metrics with actual revenue outcomes 2.    Creative strategies for maximizing brand impact without massive budgets 3.    Practical AI applications that save time and improve marketing effectiveness 4.    The case for tying marketing compensation directly to sales success 5.    Methods for building genuine partnership between marketing and sales teams Scott's approach challenges conventional wisdom about marketing's role in B2B organizations. His emphasis on sales enablement, creative problem-solving, and revenue accountability offers a roadmap for marketing teams ready to prove their impact on the bottom line. Key Moments of This Episode 00:00:00 - Marketing and Sales Alignment: The Foundation for Revenue Success Scott Logan introduces the critical concept that marketing, sales, and channel teams must align to one unified revenue number, with compensation tied to actual sales quota achievement rather than vanity metrics. 00:01:37 - Meet Scott Logan: From Sales Rep to CMO at AmplifAI Scott shares his journey from 2007 sales rep to CMO, including early marketing operations experience when SDRs didn't exist, and introduces AmplifAI's AI-powered CX performance management platform. 00:04:08 - Bowling Championships and Pet Lions: Getting Personal with Scott Scott reveals his unexpected talent as a two-time state bowling champion and shares his grandfather's fascinating story of owning exotic pets including a lion in the 1930s. 00:06:00 - Marketing's True Purpose: Helping Sales Sell More Scott explains why marketing's sole purpose should be enabling sales success, emphasizing the need for sales team involvement in every step from content planning to campaign execution and feedback loops. 00:11:12 - Revenue Accountability: Why Marketing Must Own Sales Targets Scott advocates for marketing teams having joint ownership of revenue targets with bonuses tied to closed deals, introducing AmplifAI's "money team" approach where all go-to-market leaders share unified success metrics. 00:13:25 - Brand vs Demand: Strategic Messaging That Drives Pipeline Exploration of how brand influences demand generation through proper messaging alignment, buyer priority matching, and strategic presence expansion rather than scattered marketing efforts across all channels. 00:18:47 - Breaking Marketing Best Practices: Innovation Over Convention Scott challenges marketers to move beyond 2017 tactics, using examples like strategic billboard placement and creative conference marketing to demonstrate how breaking conventional wisdom creates better results. 00:20:23 - Marketing Enablement: Spending 50% of Time with Sales Teams Discussion of practical strategies for marketing-sales collaboration, including the "did you help a sales rep today" mentality and building trust through direct engagement with sales professionals. 00:23:52 - AI-Powered Marketing: Scaling Pipeline Generation Intelligently Scott outlines how marketers should use AI for competitor analysis, sales call evaluation, content creation, and data segmentation while maintaining focus on sales team needs and buyer conversations. 00:28:55 - The Intern AI Success Story: Three Weeks to Ten Minutes Real example of how a summer intern used AI to complete a complex data analysis project in one day that would have traditionally taken three weeks of manual work. 00:35:12 - AI Agents in Marketing: Experimenting with Transparent Automation Scott discusses AmplifAI's experiments with AI SDRs, emphasizing transparency about AI usage while ensuring seamless handoffs to human representatives when complexity increases beyond automation capabilities. 00:40:31 - Social Selling Success: Eight Reps to President's Club Scott shares his early social selling program success story from 2011, where he helped eight of twelve sales reps achieve President's Club status through strategic LinkedIn coaching and training. About Scott Logan Scott Logan is a seasoned revenue and marketing leader known for building pipeline-driven growth engines that align sales, marketing, and operations. Currently the Chief Marketing Officer at AmplifA, Scott specializes in creating predictable demand, accelerating revenue, and operationalizing go-to-market strategies powered by automation and AI. With a career spanning both sales and marketing leadership, he brings a rare, practitioner-level perspective on what actually drives pipeline and performance. Scott is also the host of the Making Fun of Marketing podcast, where he challenges conventional B2B thinking and brings candid, real-world conversations to the forefront of modern revenue leadership. What differentiates Scott is his relentless focus on outcomes over activity—breaking down silos, simplifying complexity, and building systems that make revenue teams more effective and human at the same time. He's deeply passionate about helping organizations eliminate friction, rethink how buyers engage, and design revenue motions that scale with clarity and purpose. Could stimulating your vagus nerve improve sleep, stress, digestion, and heart health? The vagus nerve plays a critical role in regulating the body's stress response, digestion, heart rhythm, immune function, and overall sense of calm. Dr. Donald Ellsworth is joined by James Bittick, Director of Physicians Preference Vitamins, to explain why vagus nerve stimulation is becoming an important tool in natural health and wellness. They discuss how the vagus nerve helps balance the sympathetic “fight or flight” system with the parasympathetic “rest and digest” system, and how poor vagal tone can contribute to anxiety, sleep disturbances, digestive issues, cardiovascular stress, headaches, and difficulty focusing. Dr. Ellsworth explains how improving vagal nerve output may support mood, energy levels, immune health, blood pressure regulation, and even cognitive function.   The conversation also introduces the Truvaga™ Plus, a non-invasive vagus nerve stimulation device designed to gently activate the vagus nerve through the neck. James shares real-world examples of how individuals have used vagal stimulation to reduce migraines, improve sleep quality, calm panic symptoms, and support relaxation. They also highlight natural, no-cost ways to stimulate the vagus nerve, including breathing techniques, humming, singing, and other relaxation practices.   This episode offers practical insight into how supporting the vagus nerve can improve resilience, reduce inflammation, and enhance overall well-being using both technology and simple lifestyle strategies.   Watch now and subscribe to our podcasts at www.HotzePodcast.com.   To receive a FREE copy of Dr. Hotze's best-selling book, Hormones, Health, and Happiness, call 281-698-8698 and mention this podcast. I Didn't. Here's Why.Breathless Unedited AI-Bot Summary:What if your portfolio actually reflected your real goal—spend confidently while you're alive—or, if you prefer, maximize what you leave behind? We dig into that choice and show how to align behavior with outcomes, from accumulation tilts to retirement withdrawals, without getting trapped by complexity or fear.We start by tackling a common accumulator snag: limited 401(k) menus. When a plan doesn't offer the exact funds for a 50% large-cap growth and 50% small-cap value tilt, we show how to keep the core in a low-cost total market index and use outside accounts for precise small-cap value exposure. The final 10%? It's often a coin flip—simplicity and consistency usually win. We also compare small-cap value options and why funds with profitability screens (like AVUV) can sharpen the tilt. For retirees and near-retirees, we lay out a clean distribution method. Use cash generated by the portfolio first; if you must sell, trim the position most above target since the last rebalance. Prefer even fewer trades? Hold a modest cash sleeve and draw from it, replenishing during scheduled rebalances. The aim is to reduce friction while keeping allocations on track. Throughout, we push for strategies that raise safe withdrawal rates, not stories that only soothe nerves. We also hold a bright light on advisor incentives. AUM fees aren't “evil,” but they're misaligned with consumer interests and compound against your long-term outcomes. Fee-only, flat-fee, or hourly planning models provide clarity and control without the drag. Our stance is simple: demand the math, insist on base rates, and ask every product or tweak one question—does this increase sustainable spending power? The market check brings it all together: small-cap value is out front, gold remains a steady diversifier, and diversified sleeves like managed futures, REITs, and Treasuries contribute ballast. We walk through the eight sample portfolios, highlight performance since 2020 and 2024 inceptions, and note why mechanical year-end rebalancing can backfire when flows get weird. If you're a do-it-yourself investor who values low costs, clarity, and evidence over noise, you'll find practical steps you can use today. If this resonates, follow the show, leave a review, and share it with someone who needs more signal and less sales pitch.Support the show

This open access book describes and explains a fifty-year-old woman's process of developing trade competences. Drawing from daily journal entries, photographs, interviews from 10 fabrication shops, and online forums about trades, this autoethnography details the author's learning process at Howe's Welding and Metal Fabrication, where she has worked for over three years. This book uses accessible, everyday language and draws heavily from personal experience in trades, taking the value of trades as a given and explaining the process of developing the depth and breadth of conceptual and procedural knowledges—the competences—required to work in repair and fabrication shops like Howe's. This book combines a research-derived framework for analyzing scaffolded learning and expertise development with stories of learning how and learning what. Readers will gain a better understanding of knowledge development in trades workplaces, including how one-to-one interactions scaffold knowledge, how workers gradually enter a community of practice, and how workplaces can constrain learning. This book also gives readers a view of workplace learning over time and helps readers—researchers and practitioners—recognize opportunities for development toward expertise. The Bank Customer Experience Podcast is kicking off 2026 with an episode on new ATM fraud methods and how to prevent them. Podcast host Bradley Cooper spoke with Michael Strange, director of technology services, Cook Solutions Group and Alyssa Luecke, fintech solutions consultant, Cook Solutions Group on this evergreen topic, as criminal groups never stop innovating when it comes to breaking into ATMs.Strange said that the biggest method we are seeing is a resurgence of jackpotting attacks that is being driven in part by "complacency" on the part of financial institutions. In some cases, the criminal groups are still using decades old techniques, while others are taking advantage of vulnerabilities with PCI ports. Some financial institutions have responded to these threats through various gadgets such as alarms. However, Strange pointed out that many times there aren't any procedures in place on how to handle security events. For example, someone might take the top hat off the ATM, which activates the alarm, then they replace it. The financial institution will consider it a false alarm and ignore it when the criminal comes back again to actually finish the jackpotting attack. To address these issues, Strange and Luecke emphasized the importance of overlapping security measures from object detection on cameras to alarms and encryption and more.Strange and Luecke also discussed:How Cook Solutions Group is working with the U.S. Secret Service. The best security practices for banks. The strangest ATM attacks of 2025.What banks can expect in 2026.Listen to the podcast in its entirety above.

Visit https://teachhoops.com/ for innovative teaching methodologies, player-centered coaching frameworks, and resources that challenge traditional basketball instruction to help you develop more skilled, intelligent, and autonomous players who love the game. In this episode, we explore fundamental questions that every thoughtful coach should wrestle with: why do we teach basketball using the methods we inherited, are those methods actually optimal for player development and enjoyment, and what does research and modern pedagogy suggest about better approaches to coaching this beautiful game? This isn't about abandoning everything traditional coaches have done—it's about examining our practices critically and being willing to evolve when evidence suggests more effective ways to develop players. We discuss the traditional coaching model many of us learned under: heavy emphasis on drills isolated from game context, coaches talking while players stand in lines waiting for turns, repetitive technique work without decision-making components, and authoritarian communication where coaches dictate rather than facilitate player discovery. Then we contrast this with more modern, player-centered approaches: constraint-based coaching that manipulates practice environments to guide learning, game-based training where skills develop within realistic competitive situations, questioning techniques that develop basketball IQ and problem-solving rather than robotic execution, and coaching climates that balance high standards with player autonomy and enjoyment. You'll learn why traditional methods often fail to transfer to games—players execute drills beautifully but freeze or make poor decisions under live pressure. This episode provides practical frameworks for evolving your teaching methods without losing control or lowering standards: designing practices with more small-sided games where skills develop organically, using constraints (like requiring certain number of passes or eliminating dribbles) to emphasize specific concepts, asking guiding questions that help players discover solutions rather than simply telling them what to do, and creating competitive environments where mistakes become learning opportunities rather than occasions for punishment. We address concerns coaches have about player-centered approaches—losing practice efficiency, players not respecting authority, lack of technical precision—and show how thoughtful implementation actually improves engagement, retention, and transfer to game performance. Whether you're a young coach building your teaching philosophy or a veteran willing to examine long-held assumptions about how basketball should be taught, you'll gain perspective on creating learning environments that develop skilled, confident, thinking basketball players who perform well and genuinely love competing. teaching basketball methods, basketball coaching pedagogy, player-centered coaching, basketball teaching philosophy, constraint-based coaching, game-based basketball training, basketball skill development, coaching methodology basketball, basketball player development, modern coaching methods, basketball teaching approaches, basketball IQ development, coaching philosophy basketball, basketball practice design, skill transfer basketball, basketball learning environment, coaching communication basketball, autonomous players basketball, basketball coaching evolution, traditional vs modern coaching, basketball training methods, questioning technique coaching, small-sided games basketball, basketball practice efficiency, player engagement basketball, basketball skill acquisition, effective teaching basketball, coaching climate basketball, Wisconsin basketball coaching, high school teaching methods SEO Keywords: Learn more about your ad choices. You don't lose negotiations because you lack leverage — you lose them because you're using the wrong approach. In this masterclass episode of Negotiate Anything, we break down three simple, repeatable methods that dramatically improve your negotiating effectiveness at work, without aggression, manipulation, or burning trust. This conversation cuts through the noise to show how everyday workplace negotiations actually work — from salary conversations and promotions to project scope, timelines, and influence across teams. You'll learn how to prepare with clarity, communicate value with confidence, and recognize the subtle signals that tell you when to push, pause, or pivot. Rather than relying on charisma or confrontation, this episode focuses on practical skills you can apply immediately: reframing requests, anchoring discussions around shared value, and navigating resistance without escalating tension. These methods are designed to help you sound more credible, feel more confident, and walk away with better outcomes — consistently. If you want to negotiate more effectively without changing who you are, this episode gives you the tools to do exactly that.

Counterpoint is the “huge topic” that crowns the Neapolitan method and the Paris Conservatoire tradition—and yet it's often taught today in ways that leave students confused, discouraged, and musically disconnected. In this Counterpoint Panel, I'm joined by: • Robert O. Gjerdingen (Author of "Music in the Galant Style", "Child Composers") • Peter van Tour (Author of "Counterpoint and Partimento") • Job IJzerman (Author of "Harmony, Counterpoint, Partimento") We talk about how counterpoint was introduced to each of them, why modern harmony courses often set students up for failure, and why “rules on paper” don't work without singing, playing, and real stylistic vocabulary. We also tackle: • Why counterpoint matters (and what it actually trains) • The truth about Fux and why the “species-only” pipeline so often collapses • Why asking students to “write like Bach” can be a disaster—and what to use instead • Whether everyone needs to write a fugue • What “written counterpoint” training should look like when students already have practical skills • Counterpoint's future: horizontality, melody-making, and creative freedom • If you teach, study, or care about the old training paths (solfeggio → partimento → counterpoint), this episode completes the trilogy. Subscribe for more interviews & deep dives into partimento, improvisation, historical pedagogy, and musicianship.
