El carácter rara vez se forma en momentos visibles. La mayor parte de la transformación ocurre en decisiones discretas que nadie observa. Allí la obediencia deja de ser una idea y se convierte en una forma concreta de vivir. El Señor Jesús enseñó que la fidelidad comienza en lo pequeño. Esa afirmación confronta nuestra tendencia de esperar grandes oportunidades antes de responder plenamente a Dios. Sin embargo, la vida espiritual madura se construye en actos cotidianos. Por ejemplo, una palabra honesta, una actitud humilde, una decisión correcta cuando sería más fácil elegir lo contrario. Con el paso del tiempo, esas decisiones aparentemente sencillas moldean el corazón. No obstante, la obediencia constante produce una vida estable, coherente y confiable. Dios no ignora esos pasos silenciosos; muchas veces es allí donde prepara lo que vendrá después. De modo que honra a Dios también en lo cotidiano. Lo que hoy parece pequeño puede convertirse mañana en una obra significativa. La Biblia dice en Lucas 16:10: “El que es fiel en lo muy poco, también en lo más es fiel”. (RV1960).

Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord. Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. Ephesians 5:8-11 Light in the Lord If you get up early to go outside and wait for the sunrise, you know what it’s like to sit in darkness. Until the light comes, you can’t see anything because the darkness hides things, obscures things, and makes things impossible to see. But then, just as you think the darkness couldn’t get any deeper, you finally see it. The horizon begins to brighten in the east, and dawn begins to break. The sun begins its ascent into the sky, and its light is now cast all around you. It’s a total transformation! Everything you couldn’t see before is now visible. In the Gospel of John, Jesus says, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” (John 8:12). Just as the sun breaks the darkness of the earth when it rises in the east each morning, Jesus has also broken the spiritual darkness that once covered our world and our lives. Oh, what an impact this has on every single day of your life! In the darkness, you can’t see. But in the light, you can! In the darkness, you can’t function. But in the light, you can! Now, you can live as a child of the light. It’s a total transformation! “Fruitless deeds of darkness” aren’t a part of who you are anymore because “You are light in the Lord.” Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, you are the Light of the world, and you have made me light by bringing me into the light of your forgiveness, mercy, and love. God wants us to please Him and understand His will. Nothing can cloud clarity and experiencing God’s love than getting into sin. Sin keeps us in darkness while holiness brings the light. As we move toward holiness we can walk exactly and understand the will of God.

John 9:1-41As he walked along, he saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned; he was born blind so that God's works might be revealed in him. We must work the works of him who sent me while it is day; night is coming when no one can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” When he had said this, he spat on the ground and made mud with the saliva and spread the mud on the man's eyes, saying to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which means Sent). Then he went and washed and came back able to see. The neighbors and those who had seen him before as a beggar began to ask, “Is this not the man who used to sit and beg?” Some were saying, “It is he.” Others were saying, “No, but it is someone like him.” He kept saying, “I am the man.” But they kept asking him, “Then how were your eyes opened?” He answered, “The man called Jesus made mud, spread it on my eyes, and said to me, ‘Go to Siloam and wash.' Then I went and washed and received my sight.” They said to him, “Where is he?” He said, “I do not know.”They brought to the Pharisees the man who had formerly been blind. Now it was a sabbath day when Jesus made the mud and opened his eyes. Then the Pharisees also began to ask him how he had received his sight. He said to them, “He put mud on my eyes. Then I washed, and now I see.” Some of the Pharisees said, “This man is not from God, for he does not observe the sabbath.” But others said, “How can a man who is a sinner perform such signs?” And they were divided. So they said again to the blind man, “What do you say about him? How then does he now see?” His parents answered, “We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind; but we do not know how it is that now he sees, nor do we know who opened his eyes. Ask him; he is of age. He will speak for himself.” His parents said this because they were afraid of the Jews; for the Jews had already agreed that anyone who confessed Jesus to be the Messiah would be put out of the synagogue. Therefore his parents said, “He is of age; ask him.”So for the second time they called the man who had been blind, and they said to him, “Give glory to God! We know that this man is a sinner.” He answered, “I do not know whether he is a sinner. One thing I do know, that though I was blind, now I see.” They said to him, “What did he do to you? How did he open your eyes?” He answered them, “I have told you already, and you would not listen. Why do you want to hear it again? Do you also want to become his disciples?” Then they reviled him, saying, “You are his disciple, but we are disciples of Moses. We know that God has spoken to Moses, but as for this man, we do not know where he comes from.” The man answered, “Here is an astonishing thing! You do not know where he comes from, and yet he opened my eyes. We know that God does not listen to sinners, but he does listen to one who worships him and obeys his will. Never since the world began has it been heard that anyone opened the eyes of a person born blind. If this man were not from God, he could do nothing.” They answered him, “You were born entirely in sins, and are you trying to teach us?” And they drove him out.Jesus heard that they had driven him out, and when he found him, he said, “Do you believe in the Son of Man?” He answered, “And who is he, sir? Tell me, so that I may believe in him.” Jesus said to him, “You have seen him, and the one speaking with you is he.” He said, “Lord, I believe.” And he worshiped him. Jesus said, “I came into this world for judgment so that those who do not see may see, and those who do see may become blind.” Some of the Pharisees near him heard this and said to him, “Surely we are not blind, are we?” Jesus said to them, “If you were blind, you would not have sin. But now that you say, ‘We see,' your sin remains.” I'm not proud of it, but I binge-watched two-and-a-half seasons of the Netflix reality show “Love is Blind” over the course of two or three days, following my emergency gall bladder surgery in September. Again, I'm not proud. I confess. I repent. And I blame the pain meds.The premise of this waste of time is that men and women go on literal blind dates, where they spend a period of time dating one another behind walls and closed doors, in private rooms. They sit in pods and have all manner of discussion about all manner of things and decide without ever seeing each other, that they are in love, or not. During all of this, the men live in one shared space and the women in another. So, there's competition and gossip and lies and drama. Eventually, there are marriage proposals and then face-to-face meetings those who get engaged. Then the lucky, newly-engaged couples travel together for a group romantic getaway where there is lots of sunshine, beaches, swimsuits, hot tubs, and the like. And more competition, in-fighting, gossip, lies, and drama, of course.All of this is build-up to each couple's potential wedding day, the outcome of which is never known by anyone, for certain, until they reach the altar, dressed in tuxedos, wedding gowns and before very real pastors, priests, rabbis, and justices of the peace – according to their faith tradition, or lack thereof. Neither the viewer, nor the potential brides or the prospective grooms or their families, know for sure … until the very last moment … if the betrothed are going to say “I do.” Of course, the drama really comes when one of the two says “No” or “I Can't” or “I Don't” to their partner's hopeful expression of love and commitment.It's terrible – once the meds wore off, the pain was gone, and I was on the mend, I didn't even bother to finish that third season. It's one of the many signs of the decline of western civilization, I'm sure. It's one of many reasons, I suspect, that, if there is intelligent life on other planets, they've decidedly NOT bothered to make contact. All of this is mostly confession and repentance, but I'll come back to it – however briefly – in a minute.But first, this miracle story, which is a doozy … and a well-known one at that … the spit, the dirt, the mud pie – and this guy who'd been blind his whole life – who gets his eyesight back. And there are so many others … miracle stories, I mean, in Scripture: the little girl who gets up from a death-bed nap; Simon Peter's mother-in-law, whose fever breaks; the demons who leave from that guy in the synagogue; the woman who had been hemorrhaging for years, the leper who's made clean, and so on.And you can't help but wonder about all those people – in Jesus' day and in our own – whose healing never comes: the demon that never leaves; the fever that never breaks; the blindness that never goes away, the cancer, the diabetes, the dying that seem to win the day.And because of all that – because so many of us go without the miracles we long for – I can't help but believe Jesus' willingness and ability to heal doesn't have as much to do with ridding people or the world of sickness as much as we'd like to believe or pretend. Just like the Pharisees, we get caught up in the “who, what, how, when, and where” of what Jesus did for this blind guy and we ignore or don't care so much about what Jesus tells us – right at the beginning of it all – about the WHY of what he had done that day.This guy had been born blind, remember. And to his parents, to his neighbors, to the Pharisees, certainly, and even to the blind guy himself, that meant he was sinful in some way. As we know, medical science back in the day wasn't what it is for us now – so many generations later. When someone was sick or even just different somehow – whether it was leprosy, leukemia or whatever it is that makes a lame person unable to walk – their difference was understood to be proof that they were being judged by God and punished, then, for some kind of sin.You can hear it in the disciples' question to Jesus, before the healing occurs: “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents that he was born blind?” (Apparently, on top of all the rest, your physical diseases and differences could also be the result of another person's sins, as well as your own.) But Jesus doesn't break out the medical books, give the man an eye exam, make a diagnosis, or chart a treatment plan. He says, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned; he was born blind so that God's works might be revealed in him.” (Not only does this imply that there's nothing wrong with being blind, but it lets us know God was up to something more than just a magic trick.)So, Jesus gets to the business of doing “God's works,” by way of a little mud and some spit. And if “miracle” means supernatural, irrational, unexpected, unexplainable – or something like that – here is where the real miracle of this morning's Gospel occurs. The miracle of what God accomplishes through Jesus, not just for the blind man on the roadside that day so many years ago, but for every one of us – and our neighbors out there in the world, too – isn't so much that God cures blindness; it's that the eyes of those who can already see are opened to a God who loves without measure and promises eternal life, on this side of Heaven.What the disciples, the Pharisees, the blind man and his family, friends and neighbors were meant to witness that day wasn't just a physical healing. The real joy for this man who once was blind but now could see, wasn't that he could throw away his walking stick or go get a driver's license. The real miracle and true joy for the blind man who received his sight was that God transformed what had been called Sin, into forgiveness; God turned judgment into freedom; God made what was supposedly broken, whole; God made one who was unworthy, worthy – and loved and liberated and allowed to experience the fullness of the Kingdom, just like the rest of his friends, family, neighbors.And that's supposed to be our miracle, too. The miracle of Jesus Christ is that God's grace is big enough for all people – and especially for the sick, sinful, broken, needy, or just plain DIFFERENT by the standards of the world. That's miraculously good news for the gay or trans kids too many pretend are sinful or broken for being born a certain way. This is good news for Jewish people in our day and age, being targeted and terrorized – still and yet again – by a world that can't appreciate their status as God's children. This is the Gospel for anyone who faces bigotry, discrimination, exclusion, or injustice because they don't measure up, fit the mold, or walk, talk, live, move, or breathe like the masses – or to the liking of the powers that be.What the world calls unworthy, God claims and cherishes. What the world can't overlook, God forgives. What the world considers unlovable, God loves. What the world nails to a cross, God raises from the dead.The most amazing miracle is that God's love is most decidedly NOT blind. God sees all of us from the inside out – the broken and the beautiful; the sinful and the sacred; the holy and the horrible – and God loves us, still … and always … and commands us to do the same for one another, in the name of Jesus. And it's no small miracle when we get it right.Amen

Sin embargo, en dos semanas nos volvimos muy íntimos.... »Un día, en una conversación casual, comenzó a contarme acerca de su pasado.... Algo dentro de mí [hizo sonar una alarma, así que] decidí investigar. Para mi mayor sorpresa, descubrí varias mentiras de ella.... Nunca he conocido a nadie tan mentiroso como ella.... Yo ni siquiera sabía que ella... tenía novio.... ¿Por qué aparecen en nuestra vida personas como ella?» Este es el consejo que le dio mi esposa: «Estimado amigo: »Sentimos mucho que haya sufrido esa decepción, pero conste que tiene la buena fortuna de haber descubierto la verdad antes de que la relación siguiera progresando.... »Usted se decepcionó porque comenzó con una falsa suposición. Creía que las personas a quienes conociera por Internet serían tan honradas como usted, o que podría discernir cuáles no lo eran.... »Lamentablemente, esa no es la realidad. La Internet está repleta de quienes fingen ser alguien diferente de lo que son. Algunos son delincuentes profesionales, depredadores y estafadores. Otros, por su parte, simplemente aprovechan el anonimato para tener una segunda oportunidad o para un nuevo comienzo, ocultando con frecuencia relaciones presentes y pasadas, conducta ilegal y su verdadera motivación. »A fin de protegerse al navegar en la Internet, hay que suponer que todo el mundo está ocultando algo y fijarse la meta de descubrir qué es. En vez de esperar varias semanas para investigar a un conocido, hay que formarse el hábito de verificar los pormenores antes de cultivar la amistad. Si bien pudiera parecer severo y desconfiado, lo prudente es nunca bajar la guardia. »En cuanto a la intimidad que usted dice que tuvieron juntos, ojalá que no haya dejado en posesión de ella fotos que ella pueda vender o publicar. Será usted muy afortunado si no sufre más que la herida de su ego masculino a causa de ese error que cometió. »El engaño y la traición no son nada nuevo. En el siglo primero, el apóstol Pablo advirtió sobre esos peligros, y añadió que algunas personas incluso inventan nuevas maldades.1 ¡Él tenía razón! RESUMEN: El gobernador responde a la pregunta de los visitantes sobre por qué la isla de Bensalem conoce el resto del mundo mientras permanece desconocida para él. Explica que la isla mantiene leyes de secreto respecto a los extranjeros, aunque revela parte de su historia. Afirma que hace unos tres mil años la navegación mundial era mucho más intensa que en la época actual: fenicios, cartagineses, egipcios y otros pueblos realizaban grandes viajes, y la propia Bensalem participaba activamente en ese comercio marítimo. También describe la antigua grandeza de la Gran Atlántida (América), mencionada por Platón, cuyos reinos —como el de México y el Perú— llegaron a organizar expediciones militares hacia el Mediterráneo. Sin embargo, poco después una gran inundación destruyó la Atlántida, lo que hizo desaparecer gran parte de su civilización y dejó a sus supervivientes en estado primitivo. It says some very uncomfortable things about us. Here, the apostle Paul describes us as “ungodly” and “sinners.” Those aren’t pleasant descriptors. But unfortunately, they are accurate. And, because of our ungodly ways and our sinful thoughts, words and actions, our Maker could have let us die in those sins and be separated from him forever. It is what we would have deserved. Escrito alrededor del año 640 a.C., armoniza dos aspectos fundamentales del carácter de Dios: bondad y justicia. En versos hermosos y profundos, Nahúm sintetiza la noción bíblica de que el mismo Dios de amor es capaz de airarse. Dos caras de una misma moneda (Nah. 1:3).Antes que nada, debemos recordar que el tema central del libro es el anuncio de la destrucción de Nínive, la capital del imperio Asirio. Fundada por Nimrod, bisnieto de Noé, Nínive se convirtió en una potencia mundial alrededor del año 900 a.C. Era una ciudad tremendamente violenta. Usando el vocabulario actual, diríamos que cometió crímenes de lesa humanidad. Además de ser una ciudad sanguinaria, Nínive era conocida por ser la capital de la idolatría, la sensualidad y la hechicería.Cerca de cien años antes del mensaje de Nahúm, Dios usó al profeta Jonás para advertir a la ciudad. Toda esa generación se convirtió al Señor, incluso su rey. Debido a esta decisión colectiva, Dios decidió no destruirlos, como había amenazado (Jon. 3:10). Sin embargo, según el relato de Nahúm, los ninivitas volvieron a sus prácticas erróneas, rechazaron la misericordia divina, y cometieron así el pecado imperdonable. Nahúm fue claro: "Tu herida no tiene remedio; tu llaga es incurable" (Nah. 3:19, NVI).Necesitamos entender que la ira de Dios no está en oposición a su amor. Al contrario, es otro brazo de él. Dios no es cómplice del mal ni indiferente a nuestras decisiones equivocadas. Primero, él nos advierte y disciplina, así como un padre amoroso lo hace con sus hijos (Prov. 3:12). Pero, cuando no hay arrepentimiento ni conversión por parte del pecador, Dios ejecuta su juicio. Pero ¿se pueden tomar unos sí y otros no, dependiendo de la interpretación de cada uno? Es como si tomaras la constitución política de un país y solo aceptaras lo que te gusta.La Biblia dice que se conoce el pecado por la ley de Dios. ¿Tiene lógica? Por supuesto. No puede haber pecado si no hay ley. ¿Cómo acusar a una persona por incumplimiento si no se le dice qué debe cumplir? Tampoco es lógico decir que de esta ley solo se deben observar nueve artículos y que uno no es necesario. Para empezar, los humanos no son dueños de la ley de Dios; el dueño es su mismo autor. Él ha dicho que su ley son los diez mandamientos, no los nueve.Así que ¿quién es un pecador? El que ha transgredido la ley. Quien no tiene ley o piensa que no es necesaria, no tiene culpa porque, desde su perspectiva, no es pecador, y si no es pecador, no necesita a un salvador, porque el redentor es necesario solo para los que son declarados culpables.El versículo de este día dice que por la ley existe el conocimiento del pecado y que sin ella no hay pecado. Para hacer este punto más claro, valdría explicarlo de este modo: yo soy pecador porque acepto a toda la ley de Dios como vigente y no solo a una parte de ella. Por lo tanto, necesito a un salvador cuyo nombre es Cristo, el Señor que me salva de la culpabilidad de la ley. Conozco que soy pecador porque la ley me condena, conozco que soy culpable porque transgredo la ley de Dios, pero reconozco al Salvador que murió por mí, que pagó mi culpa muriendo en la cruz del calvario. Ahora soy libre no por mí, sino por quien se sacrificó en mi favor.El que no reconoce la ley de Dios aparentemente no tiene de qué ser culpable; por tanto, ¿para qué quiere un salvador? ¿Te das cuenta? Sin ley no hay plan de salvación; la ley demanda justicia. Cristo cumple la justicia, pero su amor provee redención.Hoy conoces a la ley de Dios como perfecta, santa, justa y buena. No puedes guardarla porque estás lleno de pecado, pero Cristo te justifica con su muerte y su Espíritu Santo te ayuda a ser obediente con la confianza de que él ya pagó, ya vivió, ya obedeció y ya cumplió por ti. Los últimos tres intentaron escapar por los tubos de ventilación con una balsa artesanal hecha con impermeables pegados con productos que habían sacado de la barbería. Nunca más los encontraron y, hasta hoy, el gobierno no reconoce ni su fuga ni su muerte por ahogamiento. Tras este sorprendente intento, la cárcel se cerró permanentemente y se convirtió en un punto de visita turística hasta el día de hoy.Al observar aquellas celdas aisladas del mundo por las aguas, es imposible no recordar a los profetas, apóstoles y héroes de la fe que también fueron perseguidos y rechazados por la sociedad. La diferencia es que ellos no cometieron ningún crimen, solo hicieron la voluntad de Dios. Eso fue suficiente para pasar por cárceles, azotes, apedreamientos y mucha crueldad.Si estás muy cerca de Jesús, ¡no te extrañes! Un día, tarde o temprano, mientras Cristo no vuelva, también podrán enviarte a una «Alcatraz».: No de ladrillos, ni de cárceles en islas, sino de persecución y antipatía de aquellos que prefieren vivir en las tinieblas. Uno de los puntos más llamativos que abordamos en este contenido es la llamada discriminación alfabética. Diversas observaciones muestran que las personas con apellidos que comienzan por las primeras letras del alfabeto pueden disfrutar de ventajas indirectas en contextos académicos y profesionales. Al aparecer antes en listados, trabajos, rankings o autorías, su nombre gana visibilidad de forma repetida. Y esa mayor exposición, a largo plazo, puede influir en reconocimiento, prestigio y oportunidades laborales. También analizamos cómo la sonoridad, la cultura y las asociaciones emocionales vinculadas a un nombre pueden influir en la percepción social. Algunos nombres son percibidos como más agradables, cercanos o exitosos, mientras que otros pueden cargar con connotaciones menos positivas dependiendo del contexto cultural. Esto no significa que un nombre determine el valor real de una persona, pero sí puede afectar sutilmente la impresión inicial, la simpatía espontánea o incluso ciertos sesgos inconscientes en la evaluación social y académica. Otro aspecto fascinante es el de las iniciales y los símbolos personales. Además, llevamos esta idea al mundo de la economía y las marcas con el concepto de fluidez cognitiva. El cerebro humano tiende a confiar más en aquello que procesa con facilidad. Por eso, las empresas con nombres simples, claros y fáciles de recordar suelen generar una impresión inicial más favorable. Esa facilidad de procesamiento puede traducirse en más confianza, más familiaridad y mejores resultados a corto plazo en determinados contextos. Lo interesante es que este mismo mecanismo puede operar también en nuestra vida personal. En definitiva, este vídeo propone una reflexión muy potente: nuestro nombre no escribe nuestro destino, pero sí puede actuar como una señal constante que influye en pequeñas decisiones, impresiones y oportunidades a lo largo del tiempo. Lo hizo de manera anónima, como pedimos que se haga; así que, a pesar de que nunca se lo había contado a nadie, nos autorizó a que lo citáramos, como sigue: «Tengo dieciocho años de casado. [Yo pensaba que] todo iba bien, hasta que mi esposa de treinta y seis años conoció a un [joven] de veinticuatro por Internet. Él trabajaba en [otro país].... Ella dice que nunca me ha amado ni me amará…. Desesperada por ver si es el amor de su vida, ya fue a visitarlo por una semana, y resultó que sí es lo que quiere, y... están preparando todo para juntarse.... »Lo malo de esto es que tenemos dos hijos, un niño de siete y una niña de doce. Welcome to The Daily, where we study the Bible verse by verse, chapter by chapter, every day. Our shout-out today goes to Aric Carpenter from Manitou Beach, MI. Thanks for your partnership in Project23. We cannot do this without donors like you. Our text today is 1 Corinthians 8:12. Thus, sinning against your brothers and wounding their conscience when it is weak, you sin against Christ. — 1 Corinthians 8:12 Paul strips away the most common excuse we make for sin. "I'm not hurting anyone." With one sentence, Paul exposes the lie. When you wound a fellow believer's conscience—especially when they are still learning to walk in obedience—you are not merely harming them. You are sinning against Christ himself. This is the unavoidable logic of union with Christ. Believers are not spiritually independent individuals. They are members of Christ's body. What touches them touches him. What wounds them wounds him. That means there is no such thing as a private sin when other believers are involved. No such thing as neutral participation. No such thing as harmless freedom. Paul says that careless liberty doesn't just create relational fallout—it also creates spiritual offense. The Corinthians believed their knowledge insulated them. Paul says it indicts them. You can be right and still be wrong. You can know the truth and still sin against Christ by how you treat those who belong to him. This verse prompts us to seriously reconsider how we practice our freedom within the church community. When we accept behaviors that Scripture prohibits, disregard biblical beliefs as irrelevant, or encourage others to join us in ambiguous situations, we aren't merely influencing behavior—we're harming the consciences that Christ Himself redeemed. Christ does not stand at a distance from his people. He identifies with them. So when a believer stumbles because of your example, Christ says, "You did that to me." Sin always has a target. And when believers are involved, that target is Christ. DO THIS: Examine one area of freedom where you've said, "It's not hurting anyone," and ask how Christ might see its impact on others. ASK THIS: Where have I minimized sin by calling it personal or private? How does union with Christ reshape the way I view my influence? What freedoms might Christ be asking me to restrain out of love? PRAY THIS: Jesus, forgive me for the ways I've separated my freedom from my responsibility. Teach me to see your people as you see them—and to walk in love that honors you. Amen. PLAY THIS: "Yet Not I But Through Christ in Me."

Strike the rock, and water will come out of it for the people to drink.” Exodus 17:3,5-6 Water from a Rock If you grew up in a home like mine and you complained about your food, you heard your parents say something like this: “There are starving children in Africa who would love to have that food.” Whether the reasoning was sound, the point was that we should be thankful for what we had instead of complaining. The temptation to be dissatisfied with what we have has plagued humanity for almost as long as this world has existed. But what if it is a basic need that seems to be missing? The nation of Israel was in the wilderness. No running water. No cool springs, pools, or streams to draw water from. We can live without food, but water is essential. Didn't God care enough to provide? But God wasn’t ignoring their need. With a miracle, he would show that he was the one who provided for them. He told Moses to strike a rock with his staff, and water flowed out of that rock for them to drink. How patient God was with them. How patient God is with us. We grumble and complain; yet he patiently continues to provide just what we need every day. The greatest gift he provides is another Rock. The Bible later comments on this time period and says, “They all ate the same spiritual food and drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ” (1 Corinthians 10:3-4). Jesus was always with them, and he is always with us, too. In his word of grace, he gives us the essential water for our spiritual lives. Through that living water that flows from Jesus, we are rescued from the wilderness we deserve because of our sins. And we are kept alive to dwell with our God, whose patient love for us always provides everything we need and more! Thanks be to God! Prayer: Jesus, forgive my grumbling and lack of trust. Oh, lean la oración de Cristo buscando la unidad: "A los que me has dado, guárdalos en tu nombre, para que sean uno, así como nosotros". La oración de Cristo no es solo para quienes eran entonces sus discípulos, sino para todos los que creerían en Cristo gracias a las palabras de sus discípulos, incluso hasta el fin del mundo... El Señor ha tenido una iglesia desde aquel día, a través de todas las cambiantes escenas del tiempo hasta el período presente... Su imagen aparece en incontables fotos en internet. Las aguas son tan bellas que parecen irreales, ¡pero todo es verdad! Debido a la gran cantidad de caliza en el fondo, la transparencia con algo de color de sus aguas es un verdadero espectáculo. Durante el día, al brillo del sol, el agua tiene un azul hipnotizante. Al atardecer, las aguas se tiñen inexplicablemente de un tono anaranjado extraordinario. Dentro del lago, enormes troncos de árboles descansa en el fondo, lo que da la impresión de un bosque submarino. Además, lo que parece poco profundo es, en realidad, increíblemente profundo.¿Qué piensas, vamos? Si no se puede, no te preocupes. Dios está preparando cosas aún más hermosas para sus hijos. A mí me encanta pasar los sábados cerca de un lago o parque, exactamente para recordar que un día volveremos al jardín del Edén. ¿Has pensado en ello? Aunque no sabemos su nombre, Mateo nos informa que se trataba de un escriba (Mat. 8:19); es decir, alguien familiarizado con las Escrituras. Nadie lo estaba reclutando. Aparentemente, su intención era buena. Sin embargo, el texto bíblico sugiere que tenía una visión superficial sobre el costo del discipulado. Después de aparecer de forma repentina en la narración, desaparece, y nos quedamos sin saber qué decisión tomó.Cuando la Biblia omite el desenlace de una historia, el lector puede deducir un final compatible consigo mismo. ¿Tú seguirías a un líder rechazado, sufrido, que no tenía dónde recostar la cabeza? Para cualquier judío del primer siglo, esta idea sonaba completamente extraña. La nación de Israel ansiaba un libertador poderoso, no un caminante que se ponía en una posición inferior a las aves y a las zorras. Seguramente la respuesta de Jesús decepcionó al escriba.Cristo mostró que, en lugar de comodidad, dominio y riquezas, su misión implicaba humillación, cruz y sepulcro. El enfoque del Hijo del Hombre no era buscar honores o posiciones humanas, sino salvar al pecador. Y, de manera extraordinaria, él decidió que este camino se recorrería con simplicidad. Mientras que las aves tenían sus nidos y las zorras sus guaridas, el Creador del Universo no tenía un lugar para morar.Posiblemente Jesús haya mencionado a las aves y las zorras como una alusión a las naciones gentiles y a sus líderes, como, por ejemplo, los romanos. El propio Cristo llamó a Herodes "zorra" (Luc. 13:32). En otras palabras, el Maestro dijo: "Si quieren comodidad, sigan a las 'aves', que adornan sus nidos con plumas, y a las 'zorras', que dirigen sus negocios con mucha astucia".Y tú, ¿cuál de estos estilos quieres seguir? ¿Humildad o astucia? ¿Privación o comodidad? (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Nepal's new government less likely to feature Hindu nationalists Christians in Nepal are cautiously hopeful after recent elections in the Asian country located north of India and which features the Himalayan Mountains including Mount Everest. Youth-led protests toppled the government last year. The new government is poised to feature less Hindu-nationalist parties. Hindu extremists drive most persecution of Christians in Nepal.  One pastor in the country told International Christian Concern, “The [election] results are unexpected. Though the outcome is confusing, we remain hopeful, especially as there appears to be a decline in the influence of pro-Hindu nationalist parties.”  Franklin Graham preached to 90,000 in Lima, Peru Evangelist Franklin Graham shared the Gospel of Christ with over 90,000 people in Lima, Peru over the weekend.  Listen. GRAHAM: “The Bible says, ‘All we, like sheep, have gone astray. Each has turned to his own way.' But man has a problem. That problem is called sin. “Sin is a barrier. It's a wall between you and God, and sin has to be atoned, and the only way is through the shed blood of Jesus, Christ on the cross. “Without Jesus, you have no hope. You cannot save yourself, only the blood of Jesus. “You have a choice tonight.  Jesus said, ‘I'll never leave you nor forsake you.' Will you come to Him tonight?” Thousands responded to the message during the evangelical event. Peru is a predominantly Catholic country. However, the number of Evangelicals has been growing rapidly in the South American country in recent years.  Chile is first country to eliminate leprosy in the Americas Chile recently became the first country in the Americas to officially eliminate leprosy.  The World Health Organization and the Pan American Health Organization verified the achievement. Chile has not reported any locally acquired cases of the disease for over 30 years.  The World Health Organization noted, “Leprosy, also known as Hansen disease … primarily affects the skin, peripheral nerves, upper respiratory tract mucosa, and eyes. If untreated, it can lead to permanent nerve damage, disabilities, and social stigma.” U.S. and Ecuador team up to kick drug cartels out The United States and Ecuador launched joint military operations against drug cartels in the South American country last week.  Over a dozen other Latin American countries also plan to cooperate with the U.S. military against drug smuggling operations. U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth addressed these countries during the Shield of Americas Summit in Florida on Saturday. Listen.  HEGSETH: “We don't have to live with communities flooded with drugs or violence or cartels and gangs. We can seal our border, and we have to for our citizens. “We share a hemisphere and geography. We share cultures, Western Christian civilization. We share these things together. We have to have the courage to defend it. We have a Commander-in-Chief in our country who's set that compass heading.” New poll: Don't need to believe in God to be moral Pew Research reports fewer people around the world believe it's necessary to believe in God to be moral. A majority of adults in the United States, Canada, and Europe say it's not necessary to believe in God to be moral and have good values. People in Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America are much more likely to say belief in God is necessary for morality.  In the U.S., 31% of adults say it's necessary to believe in God to be moral. That's down from 42% in 2014. Wyoming passes Heartbeat bill Wyoming became the latest state to enact a fetal heartbeat law. Republican Governor Mark Gordon signed the Human Heartbeat Act into law on Monday. This makes Wyoming the fifth state to ban abortions on babies at about six weeks of pregnancy.  If a heartbeat is detected, the baby must be protected. Liberty Counsel noted, “The ‘Human Heartbeat Act' bans abortions after a heartbeat can be detected. However, it does include exceptions for medical emergencies when the mother's life is in danger, or her health is at risk of serious impairment. The law does not include exceptions for rape or incest.” John Newton, former slave ship captain, wrote “Amazing Grace” And finally, this week is the anniversary of John Newton's conversion.  Newton was a captain of slave ships in his early life. While at sea, a severe storm brought him to his spiritual senses. This led to his conversion on March 10, 1748. Newton went on to marry, become a pastor, and work to end the slave trade. Newton is well known for his hymns. Each week he would write a hymn to a familiar tune. Of his hundreds of hymns, he is especially remembered for “Glorious Things of Thee Are Spoken,” “How Sweet the Name of Jesus Sounds!” and “Amazing Grace.” WINTLEY PHIPPS: “Amazing grace, how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me! I once was lost, but now I'm found, was blind, but now I see.” That was sung by Wintley Phipps. Newton wrote his own epitaph for his tombstone which says, “Once an infidel … was by the rich mercy of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ preserved, restored, pardoned and appointed to preach the faith he had long labored to destroy.” Reminds me of the Apostle Paul. Ephesians 2:8 says, “For by grace you have been saved through faith. Sin embargo, responder desde la calma preserva el corazón y protege las relaciones. La fortaleza serena evita que las circunstancias dicten el tono de nuestra vida. Por eso, cultiva una firmeza tranquila. Esa serenidad interior refleja la confianza en Dios y edifica a quienes te rodean. Psalm 95:6-7 Under His Care Imagine a shepherd who takes care of sheep. However, he is only concerned about making sure that they have food to eat. As long as the grass is growing in the field, nothing else matters. Or he only thinks about providing shelter. As long as the barn or the sheep pen is in good repair, he thinks he’s done his job. Such a shepherd won’t be a shepherd for long. The sheep may be well fed but have no protection from wolves that want to attack. They may have shelter but lack the basic food and water they need to survive. No, that would be unthinkable. A shepherd needs to attend to all the needs of his sheep. Today’s Bible verse invites us to worship the Lord because he is our Maker. Reflecting on all that we are and all that we have from the Lord who made heaven and earth leads us to joyful worship. But then he adds another even greater reason to worship. “He is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care.” The God who made us is the Shepherd who cares for us. Who better to care for us than he? He knows our needs, inside and out. He knows the diseases that threaten our bodies and our souls. He sees the wolves that want to attack and destroy us. He knows the nourishment our hearts need not only to survive but to thrive. With his innocent life and death, Jesus crushed Satan’s power to accuse and destroy us, no matter what we've done. With the nourishing food of his Word, he feeds our faith to receive forgiveness and the life he won at the cross. No, not a single need escapes his notice. Not a single need is beyond his care. He consistently, lovingly, and perfectly provides for all our needs. And he blesses us every day with one goal in mind—to bring us safely into his eternal pastures, where we will praise him forever. Daily Dose of Hope March 12, 2026   Scripture: Romans 6   Prayer:   Almighty God and Risen Lord, King of Kings and Lord of Lords, We come before you today with praise and a sense of awe.  You are amazing.  You offer new life.  And yet, we still struggle to keep focus on you.  Help us gather our scattered and distracted thoughts.  Help us take a moment of silence and remember who you are...Holy Spirit, speak to us today.  We want to hear your voice.  In Your Name, Amen.   Welcome back to the Daily Dose of Hope, the devotional and podcast that complements the New Hope Church daily Bible reading plan.  We are currently working our way through Paul's letters chronologically.  We are now in our sixth pastoral letter, the book of Romans.   Today's reading is Romans 6.  In this chapter, Paul discusses why we should no longer sin once we have become believers of Jesus.  In the previous chapters, he has talked about how we are no longer under the law.  That's true.  We are saved and our sins are forgiven.  That's also true.  But that doesn't mean we should start acting like fools.  Rather, the standard is higher.   Paul also considers sin to be an enslaving power.  I'm not sure we really think about it that way.  I typically think of sin as brokenness or a separation between myself and God.  But Paul sees it as something much deeper – it's a power that is actually fighting for control of all creation.    Humans are enslaved to sin.  And slaves don't typically have any control over their bodies.  They are forced into labor, they are punished at will, and they can be assaulted without any kind of recourse.  To be enslaved is to have every part of you controlled by another.  If humans are enslaved to sin, then the only thing that has mastery over this slavery is Jesus Christ's death and resurrection.    Paul explains that when someone accepts Jesus, they experience a spiritual death to sin.  They then also experience a rebirth.  They become new people in Jesus.  As new people in Jesus, we are no longer slaves to sin, as our old selves were crucified.  Sin is no longer our master.  It no longer has the same hold on us.  That being said, we still have a daily choice to make.  We are still human and sin is still tempting.  But we make a choice to live righteously.    Think about your own temptations.  What daily choices do you make because you now live for Jesus?  How have your own daily choices changed as you have grown in your walk with Jesus Christ?   Blessings, Pastor Vicki

In a world filled with information, knowledge is easy to find—but wisdom is much harder to obtain. Ideas and philosophies often come packaged attractively, appearing thoughtful, progressive, or insightful. Yet appearances can be misleading. Just as a beautifully designed book may contain poor content, teachings that seem appealing can still lead us away from truth. The Bible reminds us that true wisdom has a very specific starting point: “The fear of the Lord—that is wisdom” (Job 28:28). This “fear” is not terror, but reverence—a deep respect for God’s authority, holiness, and truth. It means recognizing that God’s understanding far surpasses our own. From the very beginning, humanity has struggled to distinguish between worldly knowledge and godly wisdom. In the Garden of Eden, the serpent presented deception in an appealing way, making disobedience appear wise and desirable. That same pattern continues today. Sin often looks attractive, and worldly ideas are frequently praised as enlightened or progressive. Yet Scripture consistently points us in another direction. Godly wisdom flows from knowing God and aligning our lives with His Word. It is cultivated through studying Scripture, praying for understanding, and surrounding ourselves with voices that strengthen our faith. Sometimes choosing God’s wisdom may look foolish to the world. Obedience, humility, and holiness are not always celebrated in modern culture. But what appears foolish to the world is often the path of true wisdom before God. The greatest treasure we can pursue is not influence, wealth, or intellectual achievement—it is a heart that reveres God and seeks His truth. When we begin there, our choices, priorities, and understanding start to align with His perfect wisdom. Main Takeaways Knowledge is abundant, but true wisdom comes from God. The fear of the Lord—reverence and obedience—is the beginning of wisdom. Worldly ideas can appear appealing but may lead away from truth.
