Cuando los pájaros carpinteros tamborilean, azotan sus picos contra la corteza muchas veces por segundo. Los científicos durante mucho tiempo han planteado la hipótesis de que los carpinteros deben tener una forma de proteger sus cerebros de posibles lesiones. Sin embargo, los trabajos más recientes proveen una imagen distinta. Usando cámaras de alta velocidad, los científicos vieron que los carpinteros no suavizan los impactos en sus cráneos. Durante la juventud, las tentaciones parecen ser mucho más fuertes que en otras etapas de la vida y puede resultar frustrante y desalentador sucumbir en más de una oportunidad ante los ataques de Satanás.Recientemente, escuché a un pastor ofrecer una explicación sobre la situación de Satanás mediante una ilustración que nos puede ayudar a comprender por qué el enemigo nos ataca con tanta ferocidad. Imagina por un momento que estás disfrutando de un día de verano en la piscina con tus amigos, cuando de repente notas que dos de tus amigos, más grandes y fuertes que tú, se están acercando de manera sospechosa. No necesitas preguntarles qué planean, pues sus rostros revelan su intención traviesa, así que aceptas tu destino: sabes que acabarás en el agua. Sin embargo, cuando tus amigos se aproximan para arrojarte, comienzas a resistirte. Estás convencido de que no podrás vencer a ambos, pero te comprometes firmemente a que, si terminas en el agua, al menos arrastrarás contigo a uno de tus amigos, y si puedes lograr que los tres caigan al agua, sería aún mejor.Cuando leemos la Biblia, notamos que Satanás se encuentra en la misma posición que el escenario hipotético que acabo de describir, pero con implicaciones más serias que simplemente caer en una piscina: fue expulsado del cielo (Apocalipsis 12:7-9), Jesús dice que lo vio caer «como un rayo» (Lucas 10: 18), que ha sido juzgado y será echado fuera (Juan 12: 31). Ahora, como sabe que está condenado y que le queda «poco tiempo» (Apocalipsis 12: 12), anda «como león rugiente» (1 Pedro 5: 8), buscando arrastrar consigo a la perdición a todas las personas que pueda.En semejantes circunstancias, lo mejor que podemos hacer es «someternos a Dios» y «resistir al diablo» (Santiago 4: 7). Pero es importante notar que tú solo no puedes resistir al diablo. Jesús comparó al enemigo con «un hombre fuerte» (Lucas 11: 21). Para resistirlo, necesitamos la ayuda de «otro más fuerte»: Cristo Jesús (Lucas 11:22). Por eso Santiago escribió que primero hemos de «someternos» a Dios, que es más fuerte, y entonces podremos resistir. Satanás ya ha sido vencido, sabe que «caerá al agua», ¡no dejes que te arrastre con él!

Mi familia y yo viajamos muchas veces en el viejo auto blanco, para ir a lugares lejanos para adorar a Dios por medio de la música. De ida y de vuelta yo podía dormir plácidamente sin temor alguno y con el firme pensamiento, «papá maneja». Pero no era así cuando subía a otros autos y no era mi padre el conductor. No podía dormir en el camino por la preocupación de que algo malo podría ocurrir en la carretera.¿Por qué podía dormir cuando papá estaba al volante? Porque yo sabía que él me amaba demasiado como para permitir que algo malo me pasara bajo su cuidado. Yo le conocía, seguía sus indicaciones y consejos; así como también recibí regaños, pero siempre a sabiendas de que era por mi bien. Papá era mi héroe y yo le confiaba mi vida y mis decisiones.Nosotras hemos emprendido un viaje hacia la patria celestial en un transporte llamado «vida cristiana». Subimos a él, el día que el pastor sumergió nuestro cuerpo en las aguas del bautismo y la vida pasada quedó sepultada. Sin embargo, en ocasiones las dificultades del camino nos hacen querer parar el auto y buscar otras opciones; o lo que es peor, quisiéramos ser la conductora para hacerlo mejor.Cuando debíamos ir a algún lugar nuevo, desconocido para mí, no tenía problemas con quedarme dormida, pues sabía que papá estaba manejando y él nos llevaría hasta aquel lugar donde nos esperaban. De igual manera, con la certeza de que «Papá Dios» está al volante, sigamos adelante en el viaje hacia la patria celestial. Con esto en mente, no hay lugar para el desánimo, ni para el temor y mucho menos para la duda cuando los problemas se presentan.Tal como lo había prometido, Dios estuvo presente en toda la travesía que el pueblo de Israel hizo en el desierto y finalmente los introdujo en la tierra de Canaán. Ese mismo Dios sigue guiando a su pueblo y va a introducir a sus hijos que permanezcan fieles, en las mansiones celestiales. Es una linda promesa para seguir tranquila en el viaje, ¿verdad? Papá maneja.

El edicto persa brotó de la malicia de Amán hacia Mardoqueo. No es que Mardoqueo hubiera hecho daño a Amán, sino que se había negado a halagar su vanidad mostrándole la reverencia que solo se debe a Dios.. La decisión del rey contra los judíos fue obtenida con falsas declaraciones, por calumnias contra ese pueblo peculiar. Satanás inspiró el plan, a fin de librar la tierra de aquellos que preservaban el conocimiento del verdadero Dios. Pero sus maquinaciones fueron derrotadas por un contrapoder que reina entre los hijos de los hombres. Ángeles que sobresalen en fuerza fueron comisionados para proteger al pueblo de Dios, y las conspiraciones de sus adversarios volvieron sobre sus propias cabezas. La historia se repite. La misma mente magistral que maquinó contra los fieles en siglos pasados obra ahora a fin de controlar a las iglesias caídas, para que por medio de ellas él pueda condenar y ejecutar sentencia de muerte sobre aquellos que no adoren el sábado idólatra. Pero, aunque así parezca, no libramos una lucha con seres mortales. No guerreamos contra sangre y carne, sino contra principados, contra poderes, contra gobernadores de las tinieblas de este mundo, contra espíritus impíos en. las regiones celestes. Sin embargo, si el pueblo de Dios deposita toda su confianza y su fe en el poder divino, toda estratagema de Satanás será tan ciertamente derrotada en nuestro tiempo, como lo fuera en los días de Mardoqueo... Cristo nunca compró la paz y la amistad mediante el consentimiento con el mal. Aunque su corazón rebosaba de amor hacia la raza humana, no podía ser indulgente con sus pecados. Porque amaba a los hombres y mujeres, era un severo reprobador de sus vicios. Su vida de sufrimiento, la humillación a la que fue sometido por una nación perversa, muestran a sus seguidores que no debe haber ningún sacrificio de los principios. El pueblo comprobado de Dios debe mantenerse vigilante, con oración ferviente, no sea que, en su afán por evitar la discordia, entreguen la verdad y deshonren así al Dios de la verdad. La paz se obtiene demasiado cara si se compra con la menor concesión a las agencias de Satanás. La menor concesión de los principios nos enreda en la trampa del enemigo... (The Signs of the Times, 8 de noviembre, 1899, "The Seal of God—No. 2", párr. 9, 10, 13; parcialmente en El Cristo triunfante, p. 368). Pensar y meditar en la bondad de Dios hacia nosotros cerraría las puertas del alma a las sugestiones de Satanás. Diariamente queda comprobado el amor de Dios hacia nosotros; y sin embargo, no pensamos en sus favores y somos indiferentes a sus súplicas. Él trata de impresionarnos con su espíritu de ternura, su amor y tolerancia; pero apenas si reconocemos los indicios de su bondad y poco nos percatamos de la lección de amor que él desea que aprendamos. Algunos, como Amán, olvidan todos los favores de Dios, porque Mardoqueo está delante de ellos y no es castigado; porque sus corazones están llenos de enemistad y odio, más bien que de amor, el espíritu de nuestro amado Redentor que dio su preciosa vida por sus enemigos (Testimonios para la Iglesia, t. 4, p. 220).

El Comité Ejecutivo Nacional (CEN) del Partido Colorado propuso ayer un diálogo interpartidario a los efectos de modificar el ciclo electoral vigente hoy en Uruguay. Conversamos En Perspectiva con el senador colorado, Robert Silva. A través de una declaración, el CEN destacó que Uruguay “cuenta con un sistema electoral sólido, transparente y confiable,” que ha sido un “pilar fundamental” de su democracia. Sin embargo, indicó que los treinta años transcurridos desde la última reforma electoral justifican una “revisión serena y responsable de algunas de sus disposiciones, especialmente en lo que refiere al extenso y fragmentado calendario electoral".  Según los colorados, el reciente proceso electoral “ha vuelto a poner en evidencia una preocupación compartida por distintos actores políticos y ciudadanos: la sucesión de elecciones en cortos períodos de tiempo puede generar desgaste, fatiga cívica y un progresivo alejamiento de la ciudadanía respecto a los asuntos públicos".  El CEN recordó que  "incluso el presidente de la República, Yamandú Orsi, expresó públicamente la conveniencia de acortar los tiempos del proceso electoral". La idea, se aclaró, es "reflexionar, con la debida distancia del próximo ciclo electoral, sobre eventuales ajustes que hagan al proceso más ágil, racional y comprensible para la ciudadanía, sin afectar las garantías ni la integridad democrática". El senador Pedro Bordaberry presentó recientemente dos proyectos de ley para acortar el ciclo electoral, sin afectar la cantidad de elecciones.

El Gobierno ha aprobado 50 nuevas plazas de jueces especializados en violencia contra la mujer para evitar la sobrecarga en esos juzgados. Sin embargo, persiste la duda sobre si los jueces tienen suficiente formación en género, especialmente cada vez que un caso relacionado con la violencia contra las mujeres se vuelve mediático. Pasó con el de Iñigo Errejón o se cuestionó con el de Dani Alves. Pero la judicatura la componen más de 5.000 magistrados desde instrucción hasta el Tribunal Supremo. En enero ingresaron 137 nuevos; y a la vez, más de 1.000 rondan la edad de jubilarse. El 60%, son mujeres. El 5%, tiene familiares del gremio. Para los jueces y juezas, la formación en perspectiva de género existe, y existe en tres niveles principales: en el temario de oposición; en la escuela judicial para las nuevas promociones; y en cursos específicos de formación continua, de 50 horas y obligatorios para acceder a cualquier especialidad desde hace 5 años. Pero también existe una brecha generacional, y algo de carencia en asuntos prácticos. ‘Sin', a word that we often use in the Christian life, but seldom reflect on, with regard to the gravity in which it has impacted humanity. The ‘Book of Common Prayer', defines sin as; “the seeking of our own will instead of the will of God, thus distorting our relationship with God, with other people, and with all creation”. With this helpful working definition, we take a closer look at this pivotal doctrinal question. Jesus does make your life better but only if you leave a life outside of Jesus. Sin is “missing of the mark”1 John 3:4-5 (NIV) 4 Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness. 5 But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins. And in him is no sin. Sin is universal. Romans 3:23-24 (NIV) 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.Sin is damning. Romans 6:22-23 (NIV) 22 But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.Sin is separating. Colossians 1:21-23 (NIV) 21 Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. 22 But now he has reconciled you by Christ's physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation— 23 if you continue in your faith, established and firm, and do not move from the hope held out in the gospel.Sin is real but it doesn't have the final word, Jesus's death and resurrection does! Everyday Evangelism isn't fueled by the desire to look down self-righteous noses at people's sin. It is fueled by the knowledge that sin kills people from the inside out and Jesus is their only hope for life. When one surrenders their life to Jesus their inside changes in that moment and their outside changes over time. John 12:23-24 (NIV) “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. 24 Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.” The Holy Spirit brings a harvest from the single seed of Jesus' death and the Holy Spirit is still the power for the harvest today. John 16:5-11 (AMP) 5 “But now I am going to Him who sent Me; and none of you asks Me, ‘Where are You going?' 6 But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your hearts [and taken complete possession of them]. 7 But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby) will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him (the Holy Spirit) to you [to be in close fellowship with you]. 8 And He, when He comes, will convict the world about [the guilt of] sin [and the need for a Savior], and about righteousness, and about judgment: 9 about sin [and the true nature of it], because they do not believe in Me [and My message]; 10 about righteousness [personal integrity and godly character], because I am going to My Father and you will no longer see Me; 11 about judgment [the certainty of it], because the ruler of this world (Satan) has been judged and condemned.The Holy Spirit's conviction of sin is sobering and liberating.The Holy Spirit goal isn't to make someone feel guilty. The end game of guilt to put someone in their place. The Holy Spirit's goal is conviction. The end game of conviction is to give someone a new place. Matthew 28:16-20 (NIV) 16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.” 40 With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.” 41 Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.Peter's first instructions…Repent – sin is only removed with ownership and repentance (turning away).Be baptized – identify with Jesus by immersion in water. Then this same power from this same person – the Holy Spirit. 1. The Holy Spirit convicts of sin and leads us to Jesus our Savior. 2. The Holy Spirit transforms us into the image of Jesus. 3. The Holy Spirit empowers us for witness.With salvation, Jesus doesn't change everyone's place but He does change everyone's purpose. Embracing everyday evangelism is part and parcel of being an everyday disciple. The BIG WHY = Sin is real.The BIG WHO = The Holy Spirit is powerful.

"Wages of Sin"Series: 1st & 2nd Chronicles Speaker: Matt CoburnSunday MorningDate: 8th June 2025Passage: 2 Chronicles 21:1-22:12

Teacher: Leanne Benton Revenge is the act of hurting or punishing someone in return for something they did to you. Before you embark on a journey of revenge, dig two graves.-Confucius After Saul returned from pursuing the Philistines, he was told, “David is in the Desert of En Gedi.” So Saul took three thousand able young men from all Israel and set out to look for David and his men near the Crags of the Wild Goats. He came to the sheep pens along the way; a cave was there, and Saul went in to relieve himself. David and his men were far back in the cave. The men said, “This is the day the Lord spoke of when he said to you, ‘I will give your enemy into your hands for you to deal with as you wish.'” Then David crept up unnoticed and cut off a corner of Saul's robe.-1 Samuel 24:4 David chose restraint over revenge Opportunity is not permission Afterward, David was conscience-stricken for having cut off a corner of his robe. He said to his men, “The Lord forbid that I should do such a thing to my master, the Lord's anointed, or lay my hand on him; for he is the anointed of the Lord.” With these words David sharply rebuked his men and did not allow them to attack Saul. And Saul left the cave and went his way.-1 Samuel 24:5-7 David's character was developed in the cave The Lord is my light and my salvation; Who shall I fear?The Lord is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid?He continues singing:One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple. For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent and set me high upon a rock.-Psalm 27:1; 4-5 Then David went out of the cave and called out to Saul, “My lord the king!” When Saul looked behind him, David bowed down and prostrated himself with his face to the ground. He said to Saul, “Why do you listen when men say, ‘David is bent on harming you'? This day you have seen with your own eyes how the Lord delivered you into my hands in the cave. Some urged me to kill you, but I spared you.-1 Samuel 24:8-10 May the Lord judge between you and me. And may the Lord avenge the wrongs you have done to me, but my hand will not touch you. As the old saying goes, “From evildoers come evil deeds,” so my hand will not touch you.-1 Samuel 24:12-13 The Lord is our JudgeThe Lord is our DefenderThe Lord is our Avenger When David finished saying this, Saul asked “Is that your voice, David, my son?” And he wept aloud. “You are more righteous than I,” he said. “You have treated me well, but I have treated you badly…I know that you will surely be king and that the kingdom of Israel will be established into your hands. Now swear to me by the Lord that you will not kill off my descendants or wipe out my name from my father's family.” So David gave his oath to Saul.”-1 Samuel 24:16-22 I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.-Psalm 27:13-14 If you've got it in you, get along with everybody. Don't insist on getting even; that's not for you to do. “I'll do the judging,” says God. “I'll take care of it.”-Romans 12:18-19 - MSG We make choices all the time without even being aware of the fact we are doing this… to brood over something…to clutch on to something… to hide. We sin and then we justify not confessing our sin or making things right. Then we find a way to bury that thought so that we forget. Sin after sin compounds, moment after moment, like some kind of terrible interest on our souls.

Though Chad completed Navy SEAL training, he was struck with a deep emptiness. Becoming a SEAL had been his life's goal, but achieving it left him hollow. He realized no earthly accomplishment could satisfy the soul. It was through confrontation with Scripture that he began to understand the depth of human pride and sin. Only Christ can take away sin and cover His people with grace and mercy.Chad shares how, from the moment of his salvation, he was a changed man. He immediately began proclaiming the gospel and eventually crossed paths with Ray, who encouraged him to try open air preaching. That initial step was difficult, but it launched Chad into a bold and public faith. The guys talk about a clip of Chad engaging a skeptic with clarity and conviction. Mark recalls a humorous but intense moment when someone tried to steal Chad's ID during a preaching event—only for Chad to chase the man down and recover it. Chad's faith would soon lead him into another kind of battlefield: local politics.Now a city councilman in Huntington Beach, Chad stepped into office after seeing how far the culture had shifted. Once elected, Chad focused on defending the defenseless, particularly children. He and the council took action after discovering sexually explicit books in the children's section of the library. In response, they made plans to form a review board made up of community members to flag and relocate inappropriate materials; however, this initiative sparked backlash, with critics labeling it censorship and a book ban. One deeply disturbing organization sued the council over the committee's formation.This legal battle has reached a critical point. On June 10, there will be a vote on whether to preserve or dissolve the committee. The opposition is determined to shut down any effort that brings community accountability to public content. The guys along with Chad emphasize that this is not just a local issue—it is a spiritual battle with eternal stakes. If parents are not discipling their children, the world will. He reminds believers that discipleship is lived out daily. If sin isn't named, it will be renamed and rebranded as progress. He urges listeners to pray, support, vote, give, and reach out to those in Huntington Beach. The time to act is now.
