SummaryClayton Cuteri returns to the MetaMystics podcast for a wide-open conversation with host Jonathan about the spiritual machinery running underneath everyday life. Clayton explains why he went vegan in 2024, how the fear an animal feels at the moment of death is stored in its body, and why he believes that single change made him calmer and helped him build real wealth. From there it goes deeper: the difference between praying to a king and praying to a corpse, what a darshan actually is, and the Hindu fire ritual Clayton credits for part of his rise from 10,000 dollars in debt to a millionaire in 22 months. They also cover the 250-year empire cycle, the symbols we are trained to fear, and the tarot card that landed at the end and described the entire conversation.Clayton opens with a short note for his own audience, calling this the deepest he has gone on the spiritual layer of Indigo Education and asking listeners to keep an open mind. Vegan stereotypes: In defence of the preachy vegan!

Soy boys, militants, social justice warriors, hypocrites, bleeding hearts, hippies... stereotypes abound when people talk about vegans!  In today's show, Lottie, Nick and Hayden tackle these vegan stereotypes. We talk about what truth some of these stereotypes have and what they get wrong.  In terms of how this can influence our animal justice activism, we discuss a model of attitude change from social psychology (the Elaboration Likelihood Model) which can explain why these stereotypes might influence people's views of vegans. We also discuss two concepts stemming from the USA civil rights movement: diversity of tactics and the positive radical flank effect.  A takeaway is that pick-me and preachy vegans alike can work together towards our common cause of animal liberation!  Listen to other podcasts that inspired this topic: - Freedom of Species: Is Veganism a Cult? https://www.3cr.org.au/freedomofspecies/episode/veganism-cult - Sounds Like a Cult: The Cult of Veganism https://www.iheart.com/podcast/1319-sounds-like-a-cult-82627527/episode/the-cult-of-veganism-94176135/  Explainers: Elaboration Likelihood Model: https://www.simplypsychology.org/elaboration-likelihood-model.html Diversity of tactics: https://everything.explained.today/Diversity_of_tactics/#Ref-5 Radical flank effect: https://everything.explained.today/%5C/Radical_flank_effect/  A scholarly review article showing evidence of positive radical flank effects across movements: https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s42087-025-00485-y#ref-CR18  Music: Animal Liberation by Los Fastidios: https://www.losfastidios.net/ Can't Win by PUP. Baby Rats by MU330. Soy Boy by Djupa Dvala.

Vedge Your Best

Ever noticed yourself holding your breath while checking your email?Or reading the news?Or seeing a text notification flash on your phone? This week on Vedge Your Best, Annette and Graham Henry, AKA the Vegan Breathing Coaches join the pod.Berlin-based Brits Annette and Graham are vegan. They are breathing coaches. And they are talking to us about something most of us assume we already know how to do: breathe. We talk about mouth breathing, nose breathing, over-breathing, breath-holding, snoring, sleep, anxiety, posture, modern stress, and the very real phenomenon sometimes called “email apnea.”But this conversation is really about something bigger than breath. It's about noticing what we didn't know we weren't noticing. So many of us walk around thinking, “I'm just anxious,” or “I just don't sleep well,” or “I'm just overwhelmed,” when sometimes there may be something very basic happening in the body that we have not even considered. And if you are part of the Vedge Your Best community, you know how much of changing our lives begins with awareness. We inherited a way of eating. We inherited ideas about animals, food, normalcy, health, and comfort. And apparently, many of us may also have inherited or developed breathing habits that are not serving us as well as we think. This is not a magic wand episode. Breathing does not fix everything. Veganism does not fix everything. No single practice fixes everything. But sometimes change begins with one small question:What if this thing I thought was “just me” is actually something I can understand, support, or gently change? In this episode, we talk about:Why Annette and Graham call themselves the Vegan Breathing CoachesWhat “email apnea” is and why so many of us may be holding our breath without realizing itHow modern stress, phones, inboxes, posture, and daily habits may affect the way we breatheThe difference between mouth breathing and nose breathingWhy “just take a deep breath” may not always be the most helpful adviceHow breathing patterns can relate to sleep, anxiety, snoring, and feeling constantly on alertWhy the diaphragm matters more than many of us realizeThe connection between awareness, body signals, and lasting changeWhy noticing your breath can be a useful practice — without turning it into one more perfectionist projectImportant NoteThis episode is for education and curiosity. It is not medical advice. If you have sleep apnea, significant breathing concerns, chronic insomnia, panic attacks, serious snoring, or you are considering something like mouth taping — especially for a child — please work with a qualified professionalResourcesLearn more about Annette and Graham Henry and their breathing resources here: https://www.henryandhenryeu.com/Mentioned in this episode:Breath by James NestorSubscribe & Review:If you enjoyed this episode, please subscribe and leave a review on your favorite podcast platform. What does it mean to treat veganism not just as an identity, but as a practice? I'm joined by Paul Erlandson, co-founder of Rivendell Sanctuary, for a conversation about animal sanctuaries, ethical veganism, mindfulness, and the relationships we build with farmed animals when we actually get to know them as individuals. Paul shares the story of how he and his wife started their sanctuary from scratch during the pandemic, why their first rescued pigs changed everything, and how his decades-long spiritual practice shaped his approach to veganism. We also get into some nuanced territory: rescue chickens and eggs, veganism as a "practice" versus an "identity," the discomfort of being the only vegan at the table, and why sanctuaries can be such powerful catalysts for change. We discuss: How and why Paul went from musician to sanctuary founder Why veganism isn't a "lifestyle preference" How sanctuaries help people connect the dots between dogs, cats, and farmed animals Why delicious vegan food is part of activism …and much more!

Animal Liberation Is Part of the Social Justice Tapestry To recognize animal exploitation as a justice issue is to confront our own participation in it. Veganism asks that we examine every day what we eat, buy, wear, and normalize. These changes reach into our habits and social relationships, forcing us to confront uncomfortable truths about our behaviors and practices. At the same time, this is precisely what makes it so powerful, because individuals are inspired to create meaningful change through everyday actions. Hey, it's Jack here – I'm currently in the snowy hills of Switzerland, recording this from the back of my campervan, so forgive the audio quality. (It won't be like this beyond the introduction.) I've been busy producing new content for YouTube, with some exciting conversations coming your way – one of which, was with Ed Winters, which I'm excited to share with you today. We had a really interesting discussion about some of the internal tensions within vegan philosophy. We agree on a lot – but, as you'll hear, our main disagreements concern the moral status of non-animals (which Ed rejects) and whether veganism should involve avoiding products tied to slave labour (which he also rejects). You can watch the conversation on YouTube now – just search Dr Jack Symes – or sit back and listen here. Thanks again for your support – I hope you enjoy the show. After talking about health as we always do because we're old, we pivot to diet — specifically veganism. Cori, who has never cared about animal rights, gamely steel-mans an argument in favor, while Nina, whose bleeding heart has caused anemia and possibly brittle bones, fearfully argues against. Along the way we cover tribes, rituals, purity, CRISPR, evolution, Lierre Keith, lactose tolerance, lactation intolerance, the Bible, abattoirs, eggs, nuts, Jordan Peterson, cults, The Liberation Pledge, and how Nina accidentally killed a bat when she was 17.Since recording this on Passover 2026 (release delay 85% Cori's fault) Nina worked through more of her apostasy, first writing The Law of Conservation of Evil and then Vegan Appreciation Day. Send us Fan MailCriminal defense lawyers can learn plenty from non-lawyers who courageously and optimistically blaze their own trails, stick to their guns in very challenging times, are resilient, and keep on blazing trails. For Fairfax, Virginia, criminal defense lawyer Jonathan Katz, Miyoko Schinner fits that bill.Miyoko Schinner became a vegan, missed the dairy that she loved with pasta and other dishes, and became a pioneer with Miyoko's Creamery, which quickly went nationwide on major grocery shelves with vegan mozzarellla and other cheese, and butter. Along the way, and with Miyoko's rebellious streak, her company won a 2021 First Amendment-protecting partial federal injunction barring the California government from restricting "Miyoko's use of 'butter,' 'lactose free,' 'cruelty free,' and 'revolutionizing dairy with plants' on the company's 'vegan butter'." Around ten years ago, Miyoko founded the animal sanctuary Rancho Compasión (here is the donation link), which thrives to this day with dozens of rescued animals, several staffmembers, and many students visiting throughout the year. She supports a support forum for women in business. As Miyoko says, she does not promote veganism by such abrasive approaches as throwing blood, but instead invites people to break bread over delicious vegan food, creates vegan cookbooks, brings people on worldwide vegan tours, and co-taught a Berkely college class on plant-centric food systems. When Jon Katz met Miyoko for the second time, at the 2022 Animal and Vegan Advocacy Summit, he did not know that she had been removed (or else was about to be removed) from the very Miyoko's Creamery that she had founded. Unlike Steve Jobs's revolving door with the Apple company he co-founded, Miyoko did not return to Miyoko's Creamery, and pivoted forwards.  Criminal defense involves plenty of thrills of victory, agonies of defeat, the lack of any supporters in the courtroom other than those on the defense team, and constant retooling, regrouping and refining on the road to victory. In this Beat the Prosecution episode, Miyoko talks frankly of how she emerged from being ousted from the company she founded (while her marriage was ending, at that), partly through the support and love of people who cared about her, and also from her companion animals. This episode also is on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijpVhPKWswIThis podcast with Fairfax, Virginia criminal / DUI lawyer Jon Katz is playable on all devices at podcast.BeatTheProsecution.com. 1. Senate Vote and Legislative Status The Senate voted 51–47 to proceed with debate on the Save America Act. All Republicans supported moving forward except Lisa Murkowski; Tom Tillis did not vote. Democrats are portrayed as unanimously opposed. The bill is now in debate, with Republicans attempting to build public support. The legislation would: Require proof of U.S. citizenship to register to vote in federal elections. Require photo ID to cast a ballot. This is: A common-sense safeguard, not voter suppression. Necessary to maintain election integrity and public trust. Voting is framed as a sacred right earned through American history and constitutional amendments. The speech references: The 15th, 19th, and 26th Amendments as expansions of voting rights. A U.S. Supreme Court ruling (Indiana voter ID case) that upheld photo ID laws. Facts are laid out that: Minority voter participation increased after voter ID laws. The Court rejected arguments that voter ID is discriminatory. 81% of Americans support voter ID laws. Roughly 75% of African Americans and 80%+ of Hispanics support voter ID. 70% of rank-and-file Democrats support voter ID, despite elected Democrats opposing it. Democratic opposition is elitist and disconnected from voters. 1B. Immigration and Election Integrity Link The speaker claims: Over 12 million undocumented immigrants entered the U.S. during the Biden administration. Border security improved dramatically after Trump’s second inauguration. The argument suggests Democrats: Intentionally allowed mass immigration. Oppose voter ID to enable non-citizen voting, allegedly to gain political power. This claim is central to the narrative that Democrats are undermining democracy. 1C. Cultural and Moral Critiques of Democrats Democrats are accused of: Misusing civil rights language (e.g., calling voter ID “Jim Crow”). Holding minorities to lower expectations. Valuing ideology over national unity, faith, and tradition. Voting is compared to everyday activities that already require ID (flying, banking, alcohol purchases). 2. Who is Texas Democratic Senate Nominee James Talarico The nominee is: A radical progressive falsely presented as moderate. Using religious language to promote views on gender identity, abortion, and masculinity. His statements on: God being non-binary, Transgender issues, Abortion, American symbols, Veganism and climate changeare used to depict him as culturally out of touch with Texas voters. 3. César Chávez Hero of the Political Left A New York Times exposé alleges sexual abuse by César Chávez. Chávez was: A leftist icon whose crimes were allegedly ignored due to ideology. A symbol of ethnic tokenism and collectivist politics. The broader scope: The left protects immoral figures if they serve political goals. Identity politics harms rather than empowers minority communities. Please Hit Subscribe to this podcast Right Now.
