Start with a grin, stay for the goosebumps. We sit down with marathon winner and runDisney favorite Brittany Charbonneau for a candid, no-filter look at a race that felt hard from the gun, a costume with a story, and the moment she stepped off the fence to encourage the final finisher home. From sleepless nights with a teething baby to Florida humidity after Denver air, Brittany opens up about panic in the early miles, how she reset her mindset, and why a mid-race character stop with Joy was the medicine she needed to run happy again. We also unpack the new Wine and Dine themes and what expanded 5K start windows could mean for buses, corrals, character lines, and that beloved pre-race hangout vibe. Expect thoughtful speculation, not hot takes—our focus stays on access, flow, and how to make race day feel welcoming for more runners. Then we get practical about blisters: toe socks vs. tape, lube strategies, nail care, and the honest truth that even perfect prep can still lead to hot spots across four days of running.Brittany brings coach-level wisdom you can use this week. Practice in-run pivots to break negative loops. Accept that progress looks like a mountain range, not a ladder. Take real time off after big goals so motivation can return on its own. And most of all, remember that every story matters—front, middle, or back of the pack. Her finish-line moment with the last runner says everything about the culture we want: inclusive, kind, and loud with encouragement. We round things out with Disneyland Half Marathon meetup details, Loopy Looper relay plans, and a race report full of coastal sun, frosty miles, and nostalgic roads. Hit play for logistics you can trust, coaching tips you can apply, and community energy that lasts beyond your cooldown. If this conversation moved you, follow, share with a running friend, and leave a quick review—your support helps more runners find their people.Brittany's LinksFunnyrunner26.2 InstagramThe Funny Runner WebsiteBrittany's CoachingRise and Run LinksRise and Run Podcast Facebook PageRise and Run Podcast InstagramRise and Run Podcast Website and ShopRise and Run PatreonSend us a textSupport the showRise and Run Podcast is supported by our audience. Vulnerability. Some say its weak. But why? Vulnerability, when done in a real way, is something today's guest Sean Conlon talks about as the way he wins at home and at work. Its listening to God's voice, listening when he calls us out. And then listening to him and trusting him to lead you through. In this episode, you'll discover… Key trait to win at home and at work (1:20) Listening to God (4:35) What systems can we use to be vulnerable? (7:50) How God uniquely speaks to us (25:44) Sean's Bio: I'm just a guy trying to faithfully follow Jesus while building meaningful companies. For a long time… I believed there had to be a tradeoff between deep faith and meaningful ambition. Either you were serious about God…Or serious about business. Over time, I've learned that isn't true. I don't think discipline, consistency and excellence are in conflict with faith…I actually think they're evidence of it. One of the ways that belief has been formed in me is through a simple daily commitment that the Lord called me to do back in 2019. For over six years now...I've done a 5K every single day without missing one. And it's become a daily reminder that discipline compounds, obedience is built in the ordinary and consistency shapes who we become. I spend my time building and acquiring businesses through 25|29 Ventures...where we focus on developing leaders and stewarding the resources God has entrusted to us. And my primary focus is creating environments where people grow stronger physically, mentally and spiritually. Which leads me to a faith and fitness movement that we are building called PaidFor… We help people train daily, live intentionally, and show up with clarity and conviction in every area of life. What started as a personal pursuit of discipline has turned into a growing community centered on consistency, community, and purpose. Along the way, I share openly about leadership, discipline, entrepreneurship, faith, and the lessons learned in the process. Not from a place of having it all figured out...but from the middle of the work in the trenches. https://www.youtube.com/@sean.conlon https://www.linkedin.com/in/seanpconlon/ What's Next? NEW!! If you want to build a business that gives you freedom, flexibility, and a life you don't grow to hate, listen to this ASAP. Today I'm sitting down with Camden Mamian - someone who's been in our world for a while now, and his story is absolutely insane. We're talking college dropout, making $500 a month in 2022... to now closing in on $700K this year. Ocean-view penthouse in San Diego, 12K on Instagram, and a business that actually gives him his life back. But here's what I love about Camden's story - it's not clean. It's not perfect. He's had to fight through real constraints, money mindset stuff, and figuring out what it actually takes to scale past $500K. So if you're anywhere between $5K and $50K a month and you're wondering what the next level actually looks like... this one's for you. If you've ever caught yourself thinking, “Email marketing would work…if I just had more people on my email list,” this episode is going to flip that belief on its head.Allison Hardy breaks down why a massive email list isn't the secret to more sales, and why focusing on intentional growth matters way more than just watching your numbers go up. If you think a $20K month for solo therapists means working 60-hour weeks, hear this: the therapists I work with who are consistently hitting 20K months aren't running giant group practices or burning themselves out. They're solo clinicians with premium fees, clear niches, and one really effective marketing channel that actually works. In today's episode, I'm breaking down the real anatomy of a 20K month for solo therapists based on what my actual clients are doing month after month. I'm talking about the core pieces that add up to those numbers, the mindset shifts around charging what you're worth, and the specific moves you can make right now to start moving in that direction.Whether you're at 5K months or 15K months, there are probably just one or two bottlenecks in your business keeping you stuck. I'm going to help you figure out what those are and give you concrete next steps to open things up!Topics covered on 20K Month for Solo Therapists:The structure of a 20K month for solo therapists and the client loads that make it possible without working 60-hour weeksThe premium fee ranges my clients are charging and the mindset work you need to do before raising your ratesThe digital marketing channels that are actually driving consistent leadsThe specific bottlenecks in your business that are keeping you stuck at low revenue monthsThe skills you need to learn if you want to charge premium fees before your marketing is perfectThe cancellation and attendance policies that will help you hit a consistent 20K monthsResources from this episode:Liberated Business: www.thebadtherapist.coach/liberatedbusinessHow Saying No to Clients Doubled Erin's Income to $14K/Month in 3 Months [Ep 148]How Dr Mikki Lee Used TikTok Marketing to Grow Her Private Practice and 4x Her Revenue [Ep 139]Related episodes My Secret to Turning 10 Min Intake Calls Into Paying Clients [Ep 7]Devotional Sales: My Sales Practice That Will Turn Consult Calls into Clients [Ep 56]Connect with Felicia:Get my freebie & join the email list:
Megan Spencer, better known online as Meg the Creator, is a content creator and mentor who helps introverts and “everyday people” earn real money online without becoming influencers. Through her Anti Influencer Method™, she teaches practical side hustles like Amazon Onsite Commissions (“Amazon reviews”), UGC freelancing, and TikTok Shop so students can build sustainable income streams without relying on follower counts or virality. On this episode we talk about: How Megan went from local government and social media management to building a multi–six-figure online business as a creator and mentor. The exact early steps of her social media agency: landing first clients on Upwork, charging low retainers, then scaling to $5K/month per client with a niche in holistic doctors. How Amazon Onsite Commissions works (horizontal product-review videos on Amazon product pages, no follower minimum) and why it can become “magic money” once you have enough videos live. Beginner-friendly UGC platforms (like JoinBrands and Billo), typical starter rates ($50–$80 per video, paid product photos), and how to turn that into recurring brand work. What's inside her Anti Influencer Method™ Skool community: training on Amazon Onsite, UGC, TikTok Shop, freelancing, and a steady stream of brand opportunities for students. Top 3 Takeaways You don't need an audience to get paid. Models like Amazon Onsite Commissions and UGC let you piggyback on Amazon's traffic and brand audiences instead of building your own following. Start small, then level up. Early UGC jobs might pay $50–$80 per video or $15 for a quick photo set, but they build your portfolio, skills, and confidence—so you can later charge much more. Community and environment matter. Being in a group of people all learning the same skills (and sharing brand deals) accelerates your progress and makes the whole process far less intimidating—especially if you're introverted. Notable Quotes “I didn't want to be famous—I just wanted to be paid.” “Courses changed my life. That first $997 course led to my first $2,400 client and proved I could make money online.” “You have to build what people want, then give them what they need on the back end. That's true for brands and for creators.” Connect with Meg the Creator: Website & resources: megthecreator.com Anti Influencer Method™: antiinfluencermethod.com Instagram: @megthecreator__ ✖️✖️✖️✖️

We're already getting all emotional about coming up on our 1000th episode, and enjoying the fact that all the naysayers were wrong about us being a "showmance." Susie watched the Chevy Chase documentary, and was hoping to find out if he is in fact the a-hole he is often accused of being. Spoiler: he kind of is. We discuss some big news in psychology research, and it turns out maybe everything we thought we knew is wrong? (So what, who cares.) We found out about an ultramarathon that is simultaneously the opposite of our forthcoming (imaginary) flip-flop 5K and also in competition with it. It involves 31 miles and 9 Taco Bell locations.Brain Candy Podcast Website - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/Brain Candy Podcast Book Recommendations - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/books/Brain Candy Podcast Merchandise - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/candy-store/Brain Candy Podcast Candy Club - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/product/candy-club/Brain Candy Podcast Sponsor Codes - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/support-us/Brain Candy Podcast Social Media & Platforms:Brain Candy Podcast LIVE Interactive Trivia Nights - https://www.youtube.com/@BrainCandyPodcast/streamsBrain Candy Podcast Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastHost Susie Meister Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterHost Sarah Rice Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBrain Candy Podcast on X: https://www.x.com/braincandypodBrain Candy Podcast Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/braincandy (JOIN FREE - TONS OF REALITY TV CONTENT)Brain Candy Podcast Sponsors, partnerships, & Products that we love:Visit https://www.carawayhome.com/braincandypod and you can take an additional 10% off your next purchase!Let Rocket Money help you reach your financial goals faster. “I'm drawing a lot more confidence for the track from what I did on the grass just this last weekend. I'm really excited just to get there, get going, and keep building strength. The sky's the limit because if I can do that on the cross course, who knows what I can do on the track. I'm super pumped for it!”My guest for today's episode is Parker Wolfe. If you're paying attention to the next generation of American distance running, his name has been on that list for a while now. Just last weekend, Parker made his World Championships debut representing Team USA at the World Cross Country Championships in Tallahassee, Florida. In a loaded men's 10K field, he ran with patience and composure and steadily worked his way forward and finished as the top American across the finish line in 12th place.Just a few months back, Parker left the NCAA as an 11-time All-American at North Carolina, anchoring the program during the early years of coach Chris Miltenberg's tenure and leading the Tar Heels to multiple top 10 national finishes in cross country. Individually, his highlight was probably winning the 2024 NCAA Outdoor 5K title where he upset Nico Young in one of the biggest races of his career. The resume for Parker speaks for itself. He's run 3:34 for the 1500m, 3:54 for the mile, 7:30 for 3K, and 13:10 for the 5K. In this conversation, we talk about his transition from college to the world stage, what he's learned from racing these international studs, and what comes next as he steps into the next phase of his career as a pro with Swoosh TC under coach Mike Smith. Also, he's in a loaded men's two-mile at the Millrose Games on February 1st in New York City.____________Host: Chris Chavez | @chris_j_chavez on InstagramGuest: Parker Wolfe | @parkerw19 on InstagramProduced by: Jasmine Fehr | @jasminefehr on Instagram____________SUPPORT OUR SPONSORSOLIPOP: Olipop is a better-for-you soda that puts 6-9g of fiber in every single can. The kind of weekend that turns runners into storytellers started with lines out the door and ended with smiles wider than Main Street. We dig into the real Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend: the Dopey merch experiment that strained patience, a 5K power outage that couldn't dim the vibe, and shoes, shirts, and sizing choices that had everyone talking. Then we lace up for the races—Epcot-forward 10K joy, half marathon strategy you can actually use, and marathon Sunday's heat that forced smart decisions and small, lifesaving hacks. You'll hear what it's like to push an adaptive athlete down Main Street USA and orchestrate safe space for fist bumps, and how a community rallied to bring Myra back to the start line—twice. We trade the best on-course tactics for hot weather: drink one cup, pour one cup, stash a wet sponge, eat the banana, and when needed, reset your brain with a ride on Expedition Everest or a vending-machine Coke. We unpack the Blizzard Beach cut, how it reshaped pacing, and why embracing joy can be the difference between finishing and fading. And yes, we celebrate Brittany Charbonneau—dominant on the course, generous at the finish.Beyond the miles, the Disney Springs meetup proves why this community keeps growing: hundreds of friends, homemade cookies, raffle surprises, and quiet moments of encouragement before the last big push. Medal Monday reflections bring practical park tips and a few cautionary notes about embroidery lines. Whether you ran 3.1 or 48.6, you'll find yourself in these stories—costumes, castle photos, new marriages, and first-time Dopey's crossing the line with tears and laughter.Press play for a full recap, hard-earned lessons, and the kind of heart that makes runDisney weekends unforgettable. Host Jeremy C. Park interviews Chima Onwuka, Founder and President of Grind City Cares, along with his wife, Monica Onwuka, Vice President, who both highlight the nonprofit organization's mission and efforts to impact as many lives as possible by providing essential resources, creating solutions to pervasive social issues, and establishing opportunities for aid to both individuals and families. Chima explains that Grind City Cares was founded as a nonprofit to support community work separate from his business, Grind City Kicks. In 2026, Grind City Cares is dedicated to bringing awareness to perinatal care. This focus was inspired by the personal journey of the Onwuka family and their premature twins. Monica talks about their experience and the challenge of their twin daughter requiring continuous, dependent care through a feeding tube for 80 days. She shares how the support their family received from healthcare professionals, family, and friends motivated them to extend that same encouragement and aid to others.Monica and Chima share their experiences with the NICU, highlighting the crucial support they received from nurses who provided essential advice and directed them to financial assistance and community resources. They emphasized the importance of education and awareness about available support for families with premature babies, including the specific needs of fathers and the emotional challenges faced by families. The discussion underscores the need to raise awareness about these resources and the gaps that exist in support systems for families in such situations. Grind City Cares aims to provide support, education, and resources to families facing similar challenges in the Memphis area and beyond.Chima discusses plans for the Grind City Cares Mid-South Race for Perinatal Awareness event scheduled for June 6th at Shelby Farms Park / Hyde Lake. The event will be a 5K walk/run focused on raising awareness and providing education about perinatal issues, with resources and support from community organizations. Monica emphasizes the goal of building trust in the Memphis birth community and connecting participants with available support networks, while also celebrating the beauty of birth and postpartum support.Chima discusses the event's details, including sponsorships, partnerships, and activities like bounce houses, face painting, and the race. He emphasizes the importance of community support and highlighted a custom shoe collaboration with Grind City Kicks, priced at $80, with proceeds benefiting the cause.Visit https://www.grindcitycares.com to learn more and to get involved with Grind City Cares.

Here's what's about to happen in 2026: While you're over here listing out deliverables and making yourself sound like a Jill of all trades, your competitor just positioned herself as a growth partner and landed a $10K retainer client.Or they niched down so specifically on the one service they're incredible at that they're charging $4,000-$5,000 per client. The words "service provider," "virtual assistant," and "freelancer" are about to become a liability in your business. And if you don't make this pivot, you're going to be stuck competing on price while everyone else charges premium rates.Today, I'm breaking down the biggest shift I'm seeing in our industry and exactly how you can position yourself as a premium growth partner instead of a replaceable task doer.Topics Covered In This Episode:Why "service provider" positioning keeps you competing on price (AI replacing execution work)The language shift to position as premium-priced (outcomes vs deliverables)How to lead discovery calls instead of taking orders (diagnosing real problems)Adding strategy layers to command higher rates (audit, recommend, roadmap)Real success stories (like Mandy's transformation from 32 clients to one $12K client).Find the full post at: https://brandimowles.com/269Want More Like This? ⬇️
In this episode, Anderson attorneys Amanda Wynalda, Esq., and Eliot Thomas, Esq., tackle listener questions on reducing capital gains taxes and advanced tax strategies for real estate investors and business owners. They explore the intricacies of cost segregation studies and bonus depreciation versus Section 179, including timing issues for renovations. Amanda and Eliot discuss strategies for minimizing capital gains after decades of depreciation, converting ordinary income to capital gains in development deals, and the tax implications of oil and gas working interest investments. The duo also covers deductible expenses for corporate retreats, entity structuring for piano tuning and bookkeeping businesses, and sophisticated trading partnerships using C corporations. Finally, they take a deep dive into Solo 401(k) contribution limits, explaining the differences between employee contributions, employer matches, and the mega backdoor Roth strategy for maximizing retirement savings. Tune in for expert advice on these and more! Submit your tax question to taxtuesday@andersonadvisors.com Highlights/Topics: "I purchased a rental and did a cost seg in 2024. I renovated it in 2025. Can I use a cost segregation and/or Section 179 to depreciate the new renovation assets in 2025?" Answer: Yes, bonus depreciation works; 179 has limitations. [21:16] “How can I reduce capital gains on the sale of a rental property after nearly 27 and a half years? The accelerated depreciation reduced the basis to zero." Answer: 1031 exchange, installment sale, or opportunity zones. "How can I get capital gains on my K-1 instead of ordinary income on my investment into a real estate developer corporation?" Answer: Development corporations typically generate ordinary income, not capital. "What expenses for an off-site retreat for an LLC member and officers meeting are deductible? For example, travel, lodging, meals, activities." Answer: Travel, lodging, 50% meals if genuinely business-related. "If I invest in an oil and gas working interest and I have a first year larger intangible drilling cost loss than is needed for a given tax year based on adjusted gross income, can the excess be carried forward to a future tax year as a net operating loss? Would the NOL have alternative minimum tax implications as well?" Answer: Yes, NOL carries forward; minimal AMT concerns today. "How do I set up a holding company in California? I want the holding company to own my two companies. One's a piano tuning business and then a bookkeeping business. I have an average income of $125,000 per year combined: $45K for piano, $80K for bookkeeping." Answer: Wyoming LLC holding company owns two California entities. "I want more information on how I can structure my LLC more efficiently for day trading. What can I do to minimize my taxes for the new year? How can I lower my capital gains tax from day trading?" Answer: Trading partnership with C corporation for deductions. "Please take a deep dive into Solo 401(k) contributions. What are the individual contribution limits, employer match limits, and especially the voluntary after tax contribution limits. Which components need to be earned income and how does this change if contributing to a Roth 401(k)?" Answer: $72K total; $24.5K employee; mega backdoor uses after-tax. From endless scrolling in bed to constantly checking notifications that aren't even there. We break down the most common bad habits, surprising stats about screen time, and why so many of us admit we couldn't go a single day without our phones. Do These Things To Become More Interesting In Social Circles: What makes someone instantly more interesting to be around? It's not being louder, smarter, or funnier…it's the little things. In this episode, we run through a list of subtle social habits that quietly boost your presence, help people feel heard, and make conversations flow better. These are small changes with big impact that once you notice them, you'll see them everywhere. What's Trending: From heartbreak to hype: Bob Weir passes, the 49ers score big, and we've got six pics that sum up the weekend. Ariana Grande hints at a new project, Pruneyard Cinemas closes, and it's time to finally clean your desk. Catch all the updates, laughs, and “did that really happen?” moments right here. Second Date Update: After drinks in Redwood City, Miguel walked away feeling hopeful. Hannah was bright, curious, and honest about how exhausting dating in your thirties can feel. No awkward moments, no forced conversation. Just a solid, relaxed vibe. Then… silence. This episode explores how dates that feel “good” don't always turn into something more. Younger Gens Spill The Strangest Things Their Boomer Parents Do: We love our parents. We really do. But that doesn't mean we understand why they still balance a checkbook, use speakerphone everywhere, or think handing in a paper résumé will land you a job. Younger generations share the weird, funny, and surprisingly endearing things their boomer parents do. It's equal parts comedy, nostalgia, and “oh no… that's my mom.” Good News: David, Robin's dad in the East Bay, is walking 5K daily with his dog to raise mental health awareness. Rain or shine, he's proving that small steps can create big change
In this episode, I reflect on my 2025 accomplishments, lessons learned, and the growth that came from choosing consistency over fear. This year stretched me in ways I didn't expect—but it also reminded me that failure is not the end of the story.I talk openly about retaking the MCAT after failing the first time and why not giving up on your dreams matters more than getting it right on the first try. If you're navigating setbacks, exams, or big life goals, this episode is your reminder that it's okay to fall—as long as you get back up.I also share personal milestones from 2025, including applying to medical school and receiving an acceptance, running my first 5K in under 40 minutes, and overcoming my fear of content creation on Instagram. Posting consistently taught me that your voice matters—even when it feels uncomfortable at first.Travel played a huge role in my growth this year. I celebrated my birthday in Amsterdam, explored Groningen and Leeuwarden, took my grandmother to Washington, DC, and went on a solo trip to Nashville, where I experienced my first luxury stay. These moments reminded me how important it is to explore new cultures, create memories with loved ones, and say yes when opportunities arise.I also reflect on major life decisions, including buying a new car after losing two cars in consecutive years, hitting an important financial savings goal, and learning how to balance discipline with enjoying the life you're working so hard to build. Finally, I talk about relaunching my podcast—a goal I had put on pause—and why picking back up what you once loved can be one of the most powerful decisions you make.If you're interested in personal growth, resilience, faith, medical school journeys, travel, financial goals, or content creation, this episode is for you. Let this be your reminder to keep going—even when the path isn't clear yet.
A father and son sit down for an unusually honest conversation about Jewish identity, continuity, and choice. Allen Horowitz was raised with a strong cultural Jewish pride but little religious observance; his son Meir grew up the same way, until a series of experiences slowly pulled him in a radically different direction. What begins as a familiar American Jewish story turns into something far more complex, touching on interfaith dating, generational expectations, and the quiet questions people are often afraid to ask out loud. As Meir's curiosity deepens, through travel, community, and personal struggle, father and son find themselves navigating a widening gap in worldview while trying to preserve trust, respect, and love. This episode isn't about convincing or converting; it's about watching a relationship adapt in real time as one person changes and the other learns how to respond. A raw, thoughtful look at faith, fear, autonomy, and what it really means to support someone you love, even when their path isn't the one you imagined. Top Stories for January 10th Publish Date: January 10th PRE-ROLL: Kia Mall of Georgia From the BG AD Group Studio Welcome to the Gwinnett Daily Post Podcast. Today is Saturday, January 10th and Happy Birthday to Rod Stewart I’m Peyton Spurlock and here are your top stories presented by Gwinnett KIA Mall of Georgia. Affordability a top concern as lawmakers prepare for Georgia legislative session Srim Academy to host series of free seminars for young parents Christkindl Market drove 77% increase in downtown Lawrenceville visitors All of this and more is coming up on the Gwinnett Daily Post podcast, and if you are looking for community news, we encourage you to listen daily and subscribe! Break 1: EAGLE THEATRE STORY 1: Affordability a top concern as lawmakers prepare for Georgia legislative session When Georgia lawmakers head back to the Capitol next week, it’s all about affordability—or at least that’s the plan. House Speaker Jon Burns isn’t mincing words: “We’re laser-focused on making life affordable,” he said Wednesday, pointing a finger at property taxes for crushing the dream of homeownership. “For too many families, it’s slipping out of reach. We’ve got to fix that.” Meanwhile, Senate Republicans are eyeing income taxes. A committee led by Sen. Blake Tillery wants to nix the 5.19% tax for individuals earning under $50,000 (or $100,000 for couples) and eventually scrap it altogether by 2032. But affordability isn’t just about taxes. Rising medical costs? A mess. The end of federal health insurance subsidies? A looming crisis. Burns says the House will tackle health care, focusing on keeping doctors in Georgia by expanding residency programs. STORY 2: Srim Academy to host series of free seminars for young parents Srim Academy, a Montessori school in Norcross, is kicking off a series of free seminars for young parents—because, let’s face it, parenting is hard. Topics? Everything from potty training and screen time battles to fostering independence and getting kids to actually move their bodies. The first session, “Fostering Your Child’s Independence: Lemonade, Ladybugs and Learning,” happens Saturday, Jan. 31, at 10:30 a.m. at 5511 Williams Road. Expect 90 minutes of practical advice, hands-on activities (think crafts and cooking), and maybe even a few lightbulb moments. Led by Srim’s seasoned faculty and guests from Gwinnett Building Babies’ Brains, it’s all about building confidence—for kids and parents. Bonus: giveaways! Details? Visit www.srimacademy.com or call 678-808-9813. STORY 3: Christkindl Market drove 77% increase in downtown Lawrenceville visitors Lawrenceville’s first year hosting the Atlanta Christkindl Market? A total game-changer. Nearly 371,000 people visited the market during its debut season downtown—more than double the attendance from its Buckhead days, even with fewer open days. And here’s the kicker: 159,500 of those visitors wandered over to the Lawrenceville Square, boosting local restaurants and shops by 77% compared to 2024. Free parking, shuttles, and a glowing Winterlight Walk helped draw crowds, with visitors from 48 states. Downtown businesses saw sales jump 5–30%, and vendors reported 20–30% higher sales than the previous year. The collaboration between the city and Gwinnett County was key, with County Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson adding, “This event showed what’s possible when partnerships thrive.” Lawrenceville’s officially on the holiday map. We have opportunities for sponsors to get great engagement on these shows. Call 770.874.3200 for more info. We’ll be right back Break 2: Ingles Markets STORY 4: 2026 Beer Chaser 5K Registration is open Whether you’re a speed demon or a beer-loving stroller, the Beer Chaser 5K is calling your name. On March 7, Suwanee Town Center Park transforms into a St. Paddy’s Day celebration with a twist—running, sipping, and plenty of green. This isn’t your average 5K. Sure, it’s a Peachtree Road Race qualifier, but it’s also a beer lover’s dream. Choose your adventure: run straight through or stop at five beer stations along the scenic Suwanee Creek Greenway. Each station features a different Georgia brewery, so your taste buds get a workout too. Not into mid-run sips? No worries. Every runner (21+) gets a full beer at the finish line. And the party doesn’t stop there—StillFire Brewing is hosting an after-party with live music, food trucks, and 25 beers on tap. Registration starts at $55 for the straight-through option or $65 if you want those beer stops. Prices go up Feb. 1, so don’t wait. Oh, and don’t forget your festive St. Paddy’s Day gear—there are prizes for best costume, best group, and best kilt. Proceeds benefit Kiwanis Charity, supporting local causes like the North Gwinnett Co-Op and Children’s Healthcare. Details? Head to SuwaneeBeerFest.com/beer-chaser-5k/. STORY 5: Lanier Islands Resort looks back at 2025, forward to an exciting 2026 Lanier Islands Resort just wrapped up a big year—its 50th anniversary—and it’s clear they’re not slowing down anytime soon. Recognized as one of Georgia’s Best Vacation Destinations, the resort is leaning into its legacy while planning some exciting upgrades for 2026. Last year was packed: a new chapel and garden for weddings, a free summer concert series, the return of Magical Nights of Lights, and even a lantern festival that drew 4,500 people. Oh, and they snagged awards from The Knot, WeddingWire, and GolfPass, among others. Looking ahead? A $3 million refresh for Legacy Lodge, a revamped golf clubhouse, and Georgia’s first lighted Par-3 course. Plus, new events like a Fall Songwriter Series. Big things are coming. We’ll be right back. Submissions are due Feb. 20, and the process is simple: send a digital image of your piece first, and if you’re a finalist, drop off the physical artwork by March 13. The theme? Anything that reflects North Georgia—think landmarks, industries, or even your school. Accepted mediums include paintings, drawings, mixed media, photography, and more. Just keep it two-dimensional, under 26x26 inches framed, and under 15 pounds. Oh, and no copying or controversial content—this is about originality. Questions? Call Clyde’s Gainesville office at 470-768-6520. Let’s see what you’ve got! STORY 7: Gwinnett Chamber introduces Elevate Business series The Gwinnett Chamber is shaking things up with the launch of the Elevate Business Series (EBS)—a fresh, expanded take on their long-running Small Business Series. Starting in 2026, this revamped program is all about helping small and medium-sized businesses level up with sharper insights, practical strategies, and tools to thrive. Why the change? Send us a textA quiet decision on an elliptical becomes a marathon finish and a night spent pacing through rough trails and stranger-than-dreams moments. We sit down with Cheryl to unpack how a three-year journey, a steady base, and a simple run-walk plan turned doubt into durable progress—and why a 5:02 felt like proof, not luck. From her first 5K to crewing and pacing a 100-miler, she shares the habits that stuck: saying goals out loud, training to the plan, and adjusting when the plan meets reality. You'll hear the nuts and bolts of marathon strategy: picking a five-hour pacer, resisting the urge to bank time, and leaning on timed intervals to manage energy late in the race. Cheryl breaks down fueling with small, frequent carbs and hydration via a bladder to avoid aid station chaos. We also get into winter running tactics—how to layer for a sub-30 start that turns mild, why surgical gloves and space blanket panels can save your hands and core, and when the treadmill beats black ice. If you're eyeing back-to-back half marathons or planning a marathon every few months, we map how to keep a strong base and cycle volume without burning out.Beyond the logistics, this conversation is a reminder to share your wins to light the path for others. We talk about pacing as service, adapting intervals when beeps become mental landmines, and the way small choices—walk breaks, sips, and steady steps—add up to big finishes. Cheryl's takeaway is simple and powerful: pick the goal, build the plan, and let the data—not the doubt—drive the work. I dare you—try this land deal strategy for just 10 days and watch what happens. What I'm about to walk you through is exactly how I'd start over if I had to do my first land deal again with little to no money. You don't need a fancy CRM. You don't need thousands of dollars in direct mail. What you do need is hustle, a phone, and the willingness to send a lot of offers. I break down exactly how to find neglected vacant lots, contact the agents or owners, and make intelligent, low-risk offers that get attention. This isn't theory. It's the same strategy I used with my teenage boys at the kitchen table to close our first land deals. If you commit to talking to 15 people a day, sending just 10 offers a day, and following this plan for 10 days straight, I believe you'll get a deal under contract. And that one deal can put $5K to $10K in your pocket. The best part? You can outsource almost all of it. But you've got to get started. What's Inside: —How to find off-market and aged land listings for free—A simple way to analyze comps and send low-risk offers—The exact script to use with agents to get better deals—How to automate your offers using PrintGenie or a VA
Start lines can carry more than nerves—they can carry whole lives. We kick off Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend with equal parts heart and how-to, celebrating Jack's wedding, sharing practical travel and cheering plans, and diving into two stories that remind us why miles matter.Wendy opens her journey with honesty about grief's physical weight after losing her husband; a man who once signed up for a 5K just to support her Dopey dream. She talks about the moment a Thursday Zoom call pulled her back to community, how coaching helped her rebuild a routine from dog walks to long runs, and why she'll run in hot pinks and hearts to keep love visible on the course. Her insight is clear and kind: grief doesn't follow rules, so neither should your healing. We then turn the volume up on community with our annual Rise and Run roll call—Dopey, Goofy, marathon, half, 10K, and 5K—giving first timers and veterans their well-earned spotlight. Jon's story brings purpose into sharp focus. A single dad chasing his first marathon to model dedication for his kids, he speaks candidly about battling old habits, choosing to prioritize time rather than “find” it, and refusing to let imperfect weeks derail the goal. His mantra is simple: hard work works. He's aiming to finish strong, not chase a hero split, and to show his kids that promises kept to yourself change who you become.Whether you run to heal, to grow, or to prove you can, there's room for your reason here. What if I told you the government owes you money – possibly tens of thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands of dollars – and all you have to do is ask for it back?I know - sounds like complete BS.That's exactly what I thought when my buddy Justin Maxwell told me about the R&D Tax Credit while I was speaking at an event. But he made me an offer I couldn't refuse: "Let me do all the work, show you exactly what you'll get back, and you don't pay me a dime unless you keep the money."Within a couple weeks, I had a fat check deposited directly into my bank account. Then more checks after that. Then we went backwards three years and got even more money back. And here's the kicker – this isn't some sketchy loophole. It's a legitimate government incentive designed specifically for business owners like you who are innovating, creating, building, and testing new things in your business. In this episode, Justin Maxwell from Big Life Financial breaks down exactly how the R&D Tax Credit works, who qualifies (spoiler: way more people than you think), and why your accountant probably has no idea this even exists for small businesses. If you're spending money on AI tools, developing new products, creating new systems, testing new technologies, or basically doing anything innovative in your business – you need to listen to this episode. Like, right now.KEY INSIGHTS & TAKEAWAYSWhy Nobody Knows About This (And Why Your Accountant Doesn't Either)From 1981 to 2015, the R&D Tax Credit was essentially only for Fortune 500 companies. That's why most accountants still think it's only for engineering firms and people in white lab coats. But the rules changed a decade ago, and small business owners can now tap into this incredible benefit – they just don't know it exists yet.The "Double Dip" That Sounds Illegal But Isn'tHere's where it gets insane: You already deduct your business expenses to lower your taxable income, right? Well, the R&D Tax Credit gives you an additional credit on top of that deduction for any money you spend on innovation, development, and qualified research activities. It's literally a dollar-for-dollar write-off of your tax bill – a credit, not just another deduction. You Can Go Backwards Three YearsThink about everything you spent money on in 2022, 2023, and 2024 developing new products, testing AI, creating new systems, hiring people to build things. You can amend your returns and get that money back. Mike got multiple direct deposits within weeks of filing. The July 2025 Game-ChangerPreviously, you had to depreciate the credit over five years. But the new bill passed on July 4th, 2025 changed everything – now you can take the full credit immediately for 2022, 2023, and 2024. Instead of waiting five years to get your money, you get it all at once. We're talking checks hitting your account in 3-6 weeks.Who Actually Qualifies (Probably You)If you're in tech, software, medicine, manufacturing, engineering, science, or any business where you're testing new technologies, creating new protocols, implementing AI, or developing new systems – you likely qualify. One of Justin's clients with just $450K in revenue got $5,000 back. Another with medical practices got $550,000. The range is anywhere from $2K to $500K+.Zero Risk, Zero Upfront CostJustin's team does all the research, all the work, and tells you exactly what you'll get back before you pay them anything. They only get paid when you get paid. And if the IRS somehow doesn't approve it or takes the money back, they refund everything. There's literally no risk. The Mindset Shift That Changes EverythingWhat Mike loves most about this isn't just the money – it's the permission it gives you to innovate without fear. When you know you'll get a tax credit back even if your experiment fails, you take bigger swings. You hire faster. You test more. You grow. Mike used his R&D credits to hire four new people and expand internationally. It's Not Just For "Lab Coat" BusinessesIf you're creating courses, building AI workflows, developing new client onboarding systems, testing marketing automation, or prototyping new tools with your team – that counts. The key is documentation: videos, transcripts, proof you paid people, proof you spent the money on qualified activities.TIME STAMPS[00:00:00] This Is Literally Free Money Mike introduces the R&D Tax Credit and why he was initially skeptical when Justin first told him about it.[00:01:39] Why This Credit Was Hidden From You Justin explains the history – how it was created in 1981 for big automakers and why small businesses didn't qualify until 2015.[00:03:14] The Practical Tactical: How The Double Dip Works Breaking down how you can deduct expenses AND get an additional tax credit on top of those same expenses.[00:06:08] Going Backwards In Time For Money How the 3-year lookback works and why Mike got multiple checks by amending past returns.[00:07:20] The July 4th, 2025 Game-Changer The new law that allows you to take the full credit immediately instead of depreciating over 5 years – and how to capture all that money right now.[00:09:04] Don't Self-Disqualify Justin's plea to business owners: stop putting yourself on the outside of the red velvet rope. Let an expert disqualify you, don't do it yourself.[00:11:18] Rethinking Your Business Through The Innovation Lens How working with Justin's team helps you see your business differently and classify activities you didn't realize counted as R&D.[00:13:49] The Permission To Innovate Why the R&D Credit is actually a government-backed de-risking mechanism that gives you permission to experiment and fail.[00:15:46] What Mike Did With His Money How Mike reinvested his R&D credits into marketing, AI tools, and hiring – growing instead of contracting during uncertain times.[00:17:19] The Timeline: How Fast The Money Arrives From filing to direct deposit – Justin breaks down the typical 3-6 week timeline and what to expect.[00:22:18] Real Numbers: $450K Revenue to $550K In Credits Justin shares actual case studies – from a small business getting $5K back to a medical practice owner receiving $390K net after fees.[00:25:27] The Final Offer: Zero Risk, 100% Guarantee Justin's complete breakdown of the risk-free structure – you only pay when you get paid and keep the money. If you've ever felt like the tax code is written by rich people for rich people, this episode will change your mind. The R&D Tax Credit was literally built for small and mid-market business owners who are innovating and taking risks. And if you haven't claimed it yet, you're leaving your money on the IRS's table for no reason.Go to capabilityamplifier.com/tax to schedule a no-obligation consultation with Justin's team and find out exactly how much you qualify for.Trust me on this one. I was skeptical too. Then I got the checks.– Mike
Have you felt like 2025 was one massive ego death where everything you thought you were supposed to be doing got stripped away and you're left wondering what the hell just happened? In this final episode of the three-part series, I share my brutally honest year-in-review of 2025, the Year of the Snake. I walk through shutting off my Facebook ads in March (my main revenue source), retiring Spellbound after three years, the mistake of taking on two funnel projects in September that wrecked havoc because I'm not wired to build other peoples' businesses, my Costa Rica revelation about reciprocal community, and why stepping into 2026 means finally letting go of the "marketing expert" identity to own being the strategist and oracle who sees patterns, provides insights, and helps people find alignment before they build anything else.BY THE TIME YOU FINISH LISTENING TO THIS EPISODE, YOU'LL DISCOVER:The February 28th shift when Kathryn left a 25-year Cancer cycle and stepped into Leo via Zodiacal Releasing (an ancient astrology timing technique), entering a peak period around vocation and career at the exact moment she woke up energized to start cutting expenses, shutting off ads, and making radical decisions her ego was terrified of, and why this timing perfectly aligned with the Year of the Snake's mandate to shed what no longer serves. Why Kathryn made less revenue in 2025 but earned more profit by cutting her $4-5K/month Facebook ad spend, retiring the scalable group program model, and realizing she'd structured her online business exactly like the brick-and-mortar she sold to escape (high overhead requiring $10K+ monthly sales just to break even), and how her Moon in Aries in the 6th house (ruled by Mars in the 2nd house of money) created massive turmoil navigating financial safety while her soul craved simplicity. The September mistake of saying yes to two full funnel buildout projects despite knowing she's not wired for implementation or behind-the-scenes deliverable work, experiencing ghosting clients and lack of recognition (triggering her Leo in the 10th house need for feedback and reward), and the brutal clarity that her real value is as a strategist and oracle providing insights, breakthrough thinking, and pattern recognition (Mercury in Gate 43), not building other people's systems while her own business sits in the background. Why the identity shift from "marketing expert and conversion copywriter" to alignment-focused strategist felt like an ego death, how her wide open G center in Human Design means she's not wired to wrap her identity around what she does for work or be known for one thing, and what stepping into 2026 looks like with multiple income streams (Selling the Invisible AI system, 1-1 mentorship layering astrology and strategy, business evolution sessions) all serving the deeper work of helping entrepreneurs find alignment first, then expression, then systems, then revenue instead of the surface-level "attract more clients and make more money" hamster wheel that's completely out of alignment for her Scorpio rising depth. And while you're here, follow us on Instagram @creativelyowned for more daily inspiration on effortlessly attracting the most aligned clients without spending hours marketing your business or chasing clients. "I think there are a lot of athletes out there that are just so scared to show who they truly are and what they like because of their teammates and their coaches. And they're trying to get to the next level, and they're like, 'Oh well, if I like this then I'm not gonna get to the next level.' It's actually the opposite. You're probably gonna play better if you show who you truly are, because you're more free." Everyone loves Jackson Olson. The Savannah Bananas infielder is on a mission to make baseball more fun — and he's doing just that. Jackson has made a name for himself playing Banana Ball, which is like the baseball version of the Harlem Globetrotters. The exhibition-style games include full-on performances with choreography, lip syncing, and walk-ups designed to delight the sold-out stadium crowds. In this conversation, Jackson talks about his road to the Bananas, and his road to becoming a runner. This fall, Jackson ran his first race — the Disney Wine & Dine 5K — and now he's training for a 10K in January while figuring out how running fits into his busy baseball season. Plus, talking Taylor Swift, Disney World, and how Jackson found his voice and his confidence.
