Jonny Miller on Nervous System Mastery, Grief, and Why High Performers Can't Afford to Stay Stuck in Their Heads Your nervous system is running every decision, relationship, and reaction in your life, and you won't notice how much it's costing you until something breaks. This episode gives you the exact framework for building real nervous system mastery instead of running on autopilot until it fails. Watch this episode on YouTube for the full video experience: https://www.youtube.com/@DaveAspreyBPR Host Dave Asprey sits down with Jonny Miller, host of the Inner Frontier Podcast and founder of Nervous System Mastery, who has taught more than 1,000 people how to build the skills of interoception, self-regulation, and emotional fluidity. A former Silicon Valley founder turned nervous system expert, Jonny brings a rare mix of rational, data-driven thinking and deep somatic work to a field most high performers avoid entirely. They break down why interoception, self-regulation, and emotional fluidity are the three learnable skills behind every major shift in performance, relationships, and decision-making, and why most high achievers have spent their whole lives disconnected from what's happening below the neck. Jonny introduces the half-life of reactivity, his framework for measuring how quickly someone can move from triggered back to calm, and explains how free diving became his gateway into surrender, breath work, and pressure equalization as a form of high-stakes meditation. Dave shares his own parallel journey through nervous system work, including lessons from running 40 Years of Zen and a costly business betrayal that reshaped how he reads people. Dave and Jonny also open up about grief, including Jonny's experience losing his fiancée and later his mother, and how community and co-regulation shape how fast someone actually heals. You'll Learn: Why interoception, self-regulation, and emotional fluidity are the three core skills behind nervous system mastery What the half-life of reactivity is and how to use it to measure real emotional progress How free diving works as a form of high-stakes meditation and a direct feedback loop for unclenching Why congruence between your inner and outer state matters more than staying composed under pressure How team intuition can be used as a practical filter in high-stakes hiring decisions Why co-regulation with friends and community can dramatically shorten the grieving process What Jonny's Breath Buddy device is designed to teach kids and families about nervous system regulation Thank you to our sponsors! - MOD | Visit mod.com for a consultation and get 10% off your first order plus free shipping with promo code DAVE. - ZenBud | Dave's Nervous System Biohack. You will learn why late-night eating is one of the biggest hidden drivers of insulin resistance, which nine common cooking oils are quietly wrecking your cell membranes, why "obesogens" hiding in your food, water, and home can stall fat loss no matter how clean you eat, and the exact fasting and eating-window strategy. Dr. Jockers uses to help clients rebuild their fat-burning machinery. He closes with the one mindset shift that determines whether any of it sticks. Jim Kwik on Memory, AI, and Why Natural Intelligence Beats Artificial Intelligence Your brain is quietly outsourcing itself to AI, and you won't notice until it's gone. This episode gives you the exact framework to use artificial intelligence as a tool for brain optimization instead of a crutch that erodes your memory, focus, and critical thinking. Watch this episode on YouTube for the full video experience: https://www.youtube.com/@DaveAspreyBPR Host Dave Asprey sits down with Jim Kwik, one of the world's leading experts in memory improvement, brain optimization, and accelerated learning. For more than 30 years, Jim has served as the brain coach to professional athletes, political leaders, business magnates, and Hollywood icons, with corporate clients including Google, Nike, SpaceX, and Harvard. He hosts the Kwik Brain podcast with over 100 million downloads, reaches 200,000 people annually through live keynotes, and just wrapped his 14th annual Beyond Biohacking Conference with 5,000 attendees in Austin. Jim overcame a childhood brain injury that left him labeled "learning disabled," and turned that struggle into a mission he calls "no brain left behind." They break down the MIT study showing that people who use AI to write and think score worse on memory and comprehension than those who rely on their own brains, and why that matters for anyone serious about longevity, human performance, and anti-aging. Jim introduces the concept of digital dementia and cognitive sovereignty, explaining how nootropics, neuroplasticity, and functional medicine can support your biology while AI still requires you to keep your own hardware sharp. They cover the MEDS Rx framework for brain optimization: meditation, exercise, diet, sleep optimization, and relationships, plus why mitochondria, metabolism, and inflammation from processed food directly impact your cognitive output. Jim also shares how his own kids use AI as a tutor rather than a replacement for thinking, and why sleep inertia and the first few minutes after waking set the tone for your entire day. This is essential listening for anyone serious about biohacking, hacking their own brain, longevity, neuroplasticity, brain optimization, supplements, and building a Smarter Not Harder approach to human performance in the age of AI. You'll Learn: Why the MIT study found AI users had weaker memory and comprehension than people who did the work themselves What digital dementia and digital deduction are, and how they quietly erode your cognitive muscles How to use AI as an augmented intelligence partner instead of a replacement for critical thinking The MEDS Rx framework for brain optimization: meditation, exercise, diet, sleep, and relationships Why the first few minutes after waking determine your focus and mood for the entire day How spaced repetition and AI-assisted learning can lock in new skills and behavior change faster The HUMAN framework for staying irreplaceable in a world run by algorithms Thank you to our sponsors! - KILLSwitch | If you're ready for the best sleep of your life, order now at https://www.switchsupplements.com/and use code DAVE for 20% off - Neuronic | Go to www.neuronic.online Code DAVE for $100 off - Our Place | Upgrade your kitchen with Our Place today. In this episode, Dr. Scott Watier breaks down new research from Harvard fasting researcher Dr. Courtney Peterson, unpacking her provocative claim that dinner — not breakfast — may be the most important meal of the day. He explains how an eight-hour eating window alone, with no tracking or dietary changes, produces a 4-7% loss of body weight over 6-12 months, and how a six-hour early eating window lowered blood pressure by 10-12 points and improved insulin sensitivity independent of weight loss. Scott dismantles the myth that a 16-18 hour fast triggers meaningful ketosis or fat-burning, explaining that the metabolic shift doesn't really kick in until the 36-72 hour range, while reassuring listeners that muscle loss isn't a concern with proper protein pacing. He also compares GLP-1 medications to lifestyle habits using new data from 98,000 veterans, showing that combining both cuts cardiovascular risk by 43%, versus 16% for medication alone and 60% for lifestyle changes alone. The episode closes with a simple homework assignment: finish eating at least three hours before bed and shift your eating window earlier in the day to work with, not against, your body's natural blood sugar and hunger-hormone rhythms. Interest rates are rising, long-term bond prices have pulled back, and investors are once again worried that higher Treasury yields could threaten the economy and markets. But what if today's rates aren't historically high at all? After more than a decade of near-zero rates and easy monetary policy, investors may have become accustomed to an environment that was anything but normal. Lance Roberts & Jon Penn put today's interest rates into historical perspective, examine what higher yields really say about inflation, growth, debt, and deficits, and explain why a 5% long-term Treasury yield may not be the crisis many headlines suggest. We'll also look at what the changing rate environment means for stocks, bonds, portfolio risk, and investors deciding whether weakness in longer-duration bonds is a warning—or an opportunity. 0:00 INTRO 1:04 - Weekly Preview & Treasury General Account Bond Buy Backs 2:04 - Shorting Treasuries & The Hedge Fund Trade 5:37 - Markets Going Thru a Slow-Motion Correction 8:24 - BitCoin Rallies on Bessent Announcement 11:52 - Bonds & Rates: Brake or Break? 19:08 - Rates Are Normal 21:56 - The Primary Determinants that Set Loan Rates (Economic Composite Index) 25:46 - The Effect of Debt on Economy 29:46 - The Negative Multiplier, Measured (Gov't. Welcome to episode 260 of Grasp the Bible. In this episode, we will examine when obedience doesn't make sense — why partial obedience equals complete disobedience, why religious activity cannot substitute for simple surrender, and why rationalized disobedience is spiritual treason. Key takeaways: Saul obeyed God's command to destroy the Amalekites — mostly. He kept the best livestock and spared King Agag. By human standards he achieved at least 95% compliance. God's evaluation: “He has not carried out my instructions.” In God's mathematics, partial obedience equals complete disobedience. The specificity of a command reveals its importance. When God is that explicit, selective compliance is not compliance — it is rebellion dressed up as obedience. Saul chose which parts to follow and which to ignore, making himself the authority rather than submitting to God's authority. Saul reframed his disobedience as worship preparation: “We kept the livestock to sacrifice to the Lord.” Samuel's response dismantles this entirely: “To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams.” You cannot substitute religious activity for simple obedience. Sacrifice without obedience is manipulation — trying to buy God's approval while refusing His authority. The pattern is consistent throughout Scripture. Isaiah, Hosea, and Jesus in Matthew all say the same thing: God prefers humble obedience to elaborate religious performance. He is not impressed by offerings brought by hands that are simultaneously ignoring His commands. Samuel calls Saul's disobedience rebellion and equates it with witchcraft and idolatry. This seems extreme until you see the common root: divination enthrones your own guidance over God's; idolatry enthrones your own worship object over God's; rebellion enthrones your own judgment over God's commands. All three are the same sin: self over God. Saul's rationale seemed reasonable from a human perspective. But when human wisdom contradicts divine instruction, human wisdom must yield. “My situation is different.” “That command was for another culture.” “God wants me happy.” These are the serpent's whispers updated for modern ears: “Did God really say…?” The consequence was precise: because Saul rejected the word of the Lord, God rejected him as king. If the king will not submit to the King of kings, he cannot legitimately rule on God's behalf. Rebellion disqualifies. Quotable: God doesn't grade on a curve, and He doesn't accept approximations. He doesn't want your sacrifices — He wants your surrender. Stop calling selective obedience faithfulness. Either obey or admit you're in rebellion — but don't negotiate with a King. Application: Identify where you are giving God 80% and calling it good enough. “I'm mostly honest.” “I tithe when finances allow.” “I forgave him, but I'm still not speaking to him.” “I'm dating a non-Christian, but we're not sleeping together.” Saul teaches us that rationalized disobedience is still disobedience. Name the specific area where you have been negotiating with a clear command. Stop calling it a struggle or a growing edge. Call it what God called it — rebellion — and repent. Stop substituting religious activity for the obedience you are avoiding. Where are you bringing God sacrifice while ignoring His command? Giving generously while harboring unforgiveness. Serving in ministry while neglecting your family. Attending every service while refusing to reconcile a broken relationship. Fasting and praying while protecting an ongoing sin. God is not impressed. He told Saul directly: He does not want the offering. He wants the obedience. Identify the specific command you have been trying to negotiate around and obey it. Take seriously how God classifies what you are calling a “struggle.” Saul called it pragmatism. Samuel called it rebellion equivalent to witchcraft and idolatry. When you consistently rationalize disobedience to a clear biblical command — “my situation is different,” “that was a different culture,” “God wants me happy” — you are not confused. You are in mutiny. The sophistication of your justification does not change the category. Repent of the arrogance that says your judgment supersedes God's command. Obey today, not when it becomes convenient. Saul's partial obedience cost him his kingdom, his legacy, and his relationship with God. The closing word of this passage is not a warning about the future — it is a sentence already rendered. Do not wait for full understanding before you obey. Do not wait for circumstances to improve. Do not wait until the cost decreases. Whatever specific area of disobedience you have been carrying — name it, repent of it, and obey. Not tomorrow. Today. Completely. This Friday, I had to play back an all-time favorite. I was honored and grateful to bring you a conversation that I recorded in person with Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar at the Art of Living Center in Los Angeles. Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar is a leader of an international movement with more than 50 million followers who do breathwork every single morning. He has worked for 40 years as a global ambassador for peace at the highest levels. I did his breathwork exercises every morning without fail for five years while fixing my mind, body and nervous system, and I have a huge amount of respect for his work in the world. It was a joy to chat with him in person and his childlike curiosity, enthusiasm for teaching, and deep understanding of the world are echoed in every word of this episode. Gurudev is a true visionary, so I am grateful that he set aside time to talk with me so I could share his wisdom with you. How do you know if it is God's voice or just your own thoughts? In this episode of The Impossible Life Podcast, Nick Surface and Garrett Unclebach tackle one of the most common questions Christian men ask when they are trying to follow Jesus with purpose and faith. Hearing God is not a formula, a magic trick, or a way to get divine permission for what you already want. It is a relationship that must be developed, trained, and protected. This conversation explores what helps and hinders a man's ability to hear from the Lord. Scripture is the primary way God speaks, and the more His Word gets in you, the easier it becomes to recognize His voice. The Holy Spirit also teaches, guides, reminds, and prompts, but He is not something to control. He is a person to honor. Prayer becomes the place where a man exchanges his wishes for God's will, and other believers can become part of how God corrects, confirms, and protects His people. For men who want real discernment, this episode is a call to stop chasing answers and start pursuing God. Sin, anxiety, coveting, wrong inputs, and isolation dull spiritual senses, while Scripture, prayer, purity, a neutral heart, and brotherhood sharpen them. Biblical masculinity is not just making bold decisions; it is learning to submit your desires, listen with humility, and obey what God has already made clear. If you want to hear God more clearly, the way forward is deeper relationship with Him.Get With NuWave Home Lenders By Clicking HereJoin a group of likeminded Impossible Life listeners in our FREE Skool community by clicking here.Get the Purpose Playbook by clicking hereGet the FREE Basic Discipline Training 30 Day Program by clicking hereJoin us in Mindset Mastery by clicking hereLevel up your nutrition with IDLife by clicking hereGET IN TOUCHSocial Media - @theimpossiblelifeEmail - info@theimpossible.life

This interview explores the spiritual discipline of fasting as a means to achieve breakthrough and draw closer to God. The discussion outlines nine specific types of fasting derived from Scripture, ranging from breaking sin's power to seeking wisdom and physical healing. It emphasizes that fasting must be rooted in genuine repentance and humility rather than legalism or manipulation. The speakers highlight the importance of personal vulnerability and surrender in experiencing God's presence and guidance. Ultimately, the conversation encourages believers to use fasting as a tool for spiritual renewal and effective ministry.
Quantum Scientist Patrick Coles Reveals How Tumors Protect Your Mitochondria From Toxic Overload Cancer might not be the enemy your doctor says it is. What if tumors are actually your body's emergency detox system, built on purpose to protect you from something far more dangerous? Watch this episode on YouTube for the full video experience: https://www.youtube.com/@DaveAspreyBPR Host Dave Asprey sits down with Patrick Coles, Ph.D., Chief Scientist at Normal Computing, where he develops novel computing hardware for AI applications. Previously a Staff Scientist at Los Alamos National Lab, Coles led their near-term quantum computing group and made significant contributions to quantum computing theory. He holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from UC Berkeley and a Master of Philosophy in Biochemistry from Cambridge, and he's currently developing a new theory for cancer and chronic disease, the subject of this conversation. His rare combination of hard physics and deep biochemistry gives him a radically different lens on one of medicine's most misunderstood diseases. Coles lays out his Toxin Sequestration Theory, a framework that reframes cancer tumors not as malignant accidents but as intentional storage vaults the body builds to sequester toxins, heavy metals, seed oils, mold, and excess glucose, away from healthy tissue and mitochondria. He and Dave connect the dots between this theory and chronic disease, biohacking fundamentals, and why chemotherapy itself behaves as a toxin that can backfire. They dig into oxalates, deuterium, linoleic acid, circadian biology, and the detox protocols that support the body's natural ability to shrink these toxic reservoirs. This conversation challenges the mainstream genetic theory of cancer, explores the metabolic theory popularized by Thomas Seyfried, and lands on a radical, functional medicine-aligned framework for anyone serious about longevity, anti-aging, and human performance. Dave and Coles also break down how sleep optimization, fasting, ketosis, and a carnivore approach to nutrition support the body's detox hierarchy, from fat tissue and the liver to moles, cysts, and eventually tumors themselves. This is essential listening for anyone serious about biohacking, functional medicine, mitochondria health, brain optimization, nootropics, and taking full control of their metabolism and longevity. You'll Learn: Why toxins may be the root cause of Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, autism, and most chronic disease How Toxin Sequestration Theory reinterprets tumors as the body's backup detox organs Why chemotherapy ranks among the most tissue-damaging toxins, and what happens when a tumor bursts The role of oxalates, deuterium, heavy metals, and seed oils in cancer cell hoarding Why moles, cysts, lipomas, and nodules may be minor versions of the same detox response How circadian rhythm, sleep, and light exposure affect the body's toxin excretion cycles What spontaneous tumor regression reveals about lowering your toxic burden Why tracking tumor progression matters no matter which treatment path you choose Thank you to our sponsors! - Download Dave's Free Peptide Guide at daveasprey.com/peptide-guide. - ZenBud | Dave's Nervous System Biohack. A practical guide to seeking God.God requires His people to humble themselves before Him, and has revealed a simple, practical way to accomplish this.Support the show
Our dear friends invited us to an event this weekend in LA… they are partnering with Gary Brecka to build Ultimate Longevity Centers which will bring treatments and testing that just hasn't been easily accessible before now. I believe the way we look at aging is outdated and I'm going to share the biggest take aways I got from his on stage message and chatting with him one on one. We are talking about very practical starting points and Gary Brecka's actual morning health routine. Stop waiting until something is wrong to start taking care of your body. We have been taught this idea that getting older automatically means getting weaker, having less energy, gaining weight, losing muscle, sleeping worse, becoming more anxious, needing more medications and eventually developing all of the diseases that "run in our family." Gary challenges a lot of that thinking. His message is essentially… What if we became obsessed with keeping our bodies functioning incredibly well for as long as possible? What if instead of asking, "How do I treat disease once I have it?" we asked, "How do I create a body that is incredibly difficult for disease to thrive in?" And then there's the longevity piece that completely fascinates me. Gary believes we're entering a period where medicine, AI, biological data and longevity research are going to advance so rapidly that lifespan could look radically different in the future. Maybe 120. Maybe beyond. We don't know. But what we do know is that we need to keep ourselves healthy enough NOW to benefit from whatever becomes possible later. So today's episode is about doing the things that give you the strongest, healthiest, most capable body possible. I've been listening to Gary Brecka talk about health, longevity, anxiety, genetics, sleep, sunlight, oxygen, muscle, bloodwork and what he believes is coming next in longevity science. THE BIG IDEA: YOUR HEALTH IS BUILT EVERY DAY One of my biggest takeaways from Gary is that health isn't something we deal with when there's a problem. It's something we're building every single day. Your sleep last night matters. What you do when you wake up matters. Whether you move your body matters. Whether you maintain muscle matters. Your metabolic health matters. Your stress matters. Your relationships matter. Your nutrition matters. Your environment matters. And individually, none of these things feels life-changing. But repeated for years and decades… they become your life. Gary describes his routine as simple, portable and repeatable. I LOVE that. Because the best health routine isn't the $100,000 biohacking setup. It's the one you'll actually do every day. HABIT #1: HYDRATE BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING ELSE Gary starts his morning with water and minerals. One version of his routine is a large glass of room-temperature water with mineral salt and sometimes lemon. His current routine also frequently includes mineral salt, hydrogen water and essential amino acids. Wake up and hydrate. You've just spent roughly eight hours without drinking anything. Don't make coffee your first liquid of the day. Put water next to your bathroom sink. Put it next to your coffee machine. Make it automatic. Gary likes mineral salt because sodium and other minerals participate in fluid balance and normal nerve and muscle function. HABIT #2: GET OUTSIDE FIRST THING Gary says to get outside within the first part of your morning and get natural outdoor light into your eyes. His routine generally calls for about 10 minutes outside. Morning light helps tell your brain: It's daytime. Start the clock. Light is one of the strongest environmental signals for the circadian system. Properly timed morning light can shift circadian timing earlier and increase daytime alertness. And I love thinking of sleep this way: Your good night's sleep starts in the morning. We tend to think sleep health starts when we crawl into bed. But your body has been receiving signals all day telling it when to be awake and when to prepare for sleep. HABIT #3: BREATHE ON PURPOSE Gary talks about oxygen constantly. His personal morning practice has included three rounds of deep breathing followed by breath holds. And this connects to another thing we've been talking about: Anxiety. I love the idea that when you feel anxious, you shouldn't immediately decide: "I'm an anxious person." Anxiety is a state your nervous system is experiencing. Sometimes your thoughts are driving your physiology. And sometimes your physiology can amplify anxious thoughts. Either way, changing the physical state can sometimes help change the mental state. Research on structured breathwork has found modest improvements in stress and anxiety, although it isn't a cure-all and the quality of studies varies. HABIT #4: GIVE YOUR BRAIN SILENCE Gary often combines his morning breathing with quiet, gratitude and reflection. He has described sitting quietly for around 10 minutes, looking toward the horizon or closing his eyes and thinking about gratitude. (PodScripts (https://podscripts.co/podcasts/the-ultimate-human-with-gary-brecka/246-gary-brecka-answers-googles-most-searched-questions-on-his-diet-wellness-and-lifestyle?utm_source=chatgpt.com)) Think about how different this is from what most of us do. Eyes open. Phone. Email. Instagram. News. Text messages. Stress. Other people's priorities. And we wonder why we feel overstimulated. TRY THIS: Before consuming everybody else's thoughts… Have some of your own. What am I grateful for? What matters today? Who needs me today? How do I want to feel today? What is actually important? PRACTICAL VERSION: Five minutes. That's it. No phone. No podcast. No input. Just quiet. HABIT #5: USE CONTROLLED DISCOMFORT Cold exposure is another major Brecka habit. If he has access to a cold plunge, he uses it. When traveling, he has said a cold shower works too. But I think there is a bigger lesson here than whether everybody needs to buy a cold plunge. Stop designing your entire life around comfort. Human beings are unbelievably adaptable. Exercise is stress. Heat is stress. Cold is stress. Fasting is stress. Challenging your brain is stress. The key is appropriate amounts of stress followed by recovery. HABIT #6: MOVE EARLY Gary includes movement in his morning routine. But here's what I love: It doesn't need to be a full workout. Walk. Stretch. Squat. Lift. Do yoga. Go outside. Movement tells your body: We're alive. We're using this machine today. And then keep moving after the morning is over. One exceptionally practical habit is walking after meals. Instead of finishing dinner and immediately sitting on the couch… WALK FOR 10 MINUTES. Moving skeletal muscle after eating can help the body handle glucose. You don't need workout clothes. You don't need a gym. You don't even need to sweat. Walk around your neighborhood. Walk your dog. Walk while you're on a phone call. ONE OF THE EASIEST HEALTH RULES: Eat → walk. HABIT #7: BUILD MUSCLE LIKE YOUR FUTURE DEPENDS ON IT This is where I think longevity conversations get really practical. MUSCLE IS NOT JUST ABOUT LOOKING GOOD. Maintaining muscle becomes increasingly important as we age. Resistance training is one of the most powerful non-drug strategies available for preserving and building skeletal muscle. Losing muscle eventually affects: strength balance mobility independence your ability to recover from illness your ability to do normal life You're not building your 2026 body. You're building your 2056 body. HABIT #8: PRIORITIZE PROTEIN AND REAL FOOD- avoid processed foods Gary emphasizes protein and essential amino acids because preserving lean tissue is a major part of his longevity philosophy. The research strongly supports resistance training for preserving muscle, while evidence regarding how much additional benefit comes from protein supplementation specifically is more mixed. HABIT #9: PROTECT YOUR METABOLIC HEALTH I think this deserves WAY more attention. We obsess over weight. Gary talks much more about metabolic health. There is a difference. Weight is one number. Metabolic health includes things like: blood glucose insulin sensitivity blood pressure blood lipids waist circumference fitness body composition Instead of only asking: "How much do I weigh?" Ask: "How well is my body functioning?" Someone can lose weight while losing muscle. Someone can be thin and still have poor metabolic health. PRACTICAL HABITS: Strength train. Walk. Walk after meals. Eat mostly whole foods. Get enough sleep. Maintain healthy body composition. Reduce constant snacking if it isn't serving you. Know your basic health numbers. THE GOAL ISN'T SKINNY. The goal is metabolically capable. HABIT #10: TEST… DON'T JUST GUESS This might be one of my favorite parts of Brecka's philosophy. Stop guessing about everything. If you're exhausted all the time… investigate. If you're unusually anxious… investigate. If your sleep has suddenly changed… investigate. If your energy has disappeared… investigate. If your hormones feel completely different… investigate. If you feel awful despite doing "everything right"… investigate. Don't immediately decide: "I'm getting old." "This runs in my family." "I'm just an anxious person." "My metabolism sucks." "This is just how I am." ASK BETTER QUESTIONS. Could something modifiable be contributing? sleep nutrient deficiencies thyroid function iron status medications hormones metabolic health stress alcohol caffeine environment psychological health This does NOT mean ordering every exotic test on the internet. It means becoming curious about your own biology. HABIT #11: DON'T TURN ANXIETY INTO YOUR IDENTITY This is worth repeating because I think this is such an important mental shift. Instead of: "I AM anxious." Try: "I'm experiencing anxiety." Those are very different statements. One is an identity. One is a temporary condition worth investigating. Gary's message leans heavily toward investigating biology. He talks about things like methylation pathways and MTHFR. There are legitimate genetic influences on anxiety. But anxiety is complex. Research suggests anxiety disorders arise through a combination of genetic vulnerability and environmental influences, not one single "anxiety gene." (PubMed (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/15699295/?utm_source=chatgpt.com)) So I would approach it from ALL DIRECTIONS: Calm the body. Investigate the biology. Work on the thoughts. Breathwork. Sleep. Exercise. Less overstimulation. Healthy relationships. Therapy when needed. Medical evaluation when something feels physiologically off. Nutrition. Less caffeine when appropriate. Time outdoors. Don't choose between: "It's psychological." or "It's biological." It can be both. HABIT #12: GENETICS ARE INFORMATION… NOT ALWAYS DESTINY This is another Gary Brecka concept that I think is incredibly empowering when we phrase it accurately. People say: "Diabetes runs in my family." "Anxiety runs in my family." "Heart disease runs in my family." "Autoimmune disease runs in my family." And we can start thinking: Well… I guess that's coming for me too. But genetics often represent susceptibility rather than certainty. Your genes can increase risk. Your environment can increase or decrease risk. Your behaviors matter. Your metabolic health matters. Your exposures matter. Your entire biological environment matters. So instead of thinking: "My family gets this disease." Think: "I may have inherited a vulnerability. What parts of that vulnerability can I modify?" THAT is empowering. Important distinction: Some diseases absolutely are caused by inherited genetic mutations. So we should not say: "Genetic diseases aren't real." They absolutely are. The better message is: Genes can load the gun. They don't always pull the trigger. And with many complex chronic diseases, what ultimately happens involves an interaction between genetics and environment. HABIT #13: STOP THINKING OF SLEEP AS LOST PRODUCTIVITY Sleep is when your body gets to repair. And Brecka's evening routine reflects this. He emphasizes regular sleep, reducing stimulation late at night and setting up the next morning by protecting the night before. My favorite way to think about sleep: Tomorrow starts tonight. Stop trying to squeeze another hour out of your day if it destroys tomorrow. Decide when you're going to bed BEFORE you're tired. Dim things down. Get off your phone. Stop working. Let the nervous system receive a signal that the day is ending. Pick a bedtime and protect it the same way you'd protect an important meeting. NOW LET'S TALK ABOUT LIVING TO 120 The speed of advancement is changing. AI can analyze enormous amounts of biological data. Diagnostics are improving. Scientists are studying the actual biology of aging rather than treating aging purely as an unavoidable decline. Researchers are investigating cellular senescence, epigenetics, regenerative medicine and other mechanisms associated with biological aging. Gary believes these developments could eventually change human lifespan dramatically. And his argument is essentially: Stay alive and stay healthy long enough to benefit from what's coming. That hit me HARD. Because imagine being 75 in the future… But instead of arriving at 75: metabolically sick weak frail sedentary cognitively struggling carrying multiple preventable chronic illnesses You arrive: strong metabolically healthy active engaged cognitively sharp sleeping well maintaining muscle surrounded by people you love THAT is the bridge. Not: "How do I live forever today?" But: "How healthy can I be when tomorrow's medicine arrives?" DON'T JUST CHASE LIFESPAN. CHASE HEALTHSPAN. I don't want to simply exist until I'm 120. I want to LIVE. I want to: travel walk everywhere lift my suitcase play with grandchildren hike swim think clearly learn new things have great conversations have energy be independent laugh have purpose wake up excited THAT is longevity. Not adding years at the end where you can't live. Adding life to the years. WHAT SHOULD WE ACTUALLY DO RIGHT NOW? If you took this entire episode and boiled it down into a daily longevity checklist… MORNING Hydrate. Get outside. Get natural morning light. Breathe intentionally. Spend a few minutes in quiet. Think about gratitude. Move your body. Use cold exposure if you enjoy it and it's appropriate for you. Don't immediately flood your brain with stress. DURING THE DAY Eat nutrient-dense real food. Prioritize protein. Strength train consistently. Walk. Walk after meals. Stay metabolically healthy. Maintain muscle. Build meaningful relationships. Have purpose. Keep learning. Get outside. NIGHT Stop eating mindlessly late into the evening. Reduce stimulation. Get off the phone. Give yourself a predictable bedtime. Sleep. THROUGHOUT YOUR LIFE Know your numbers. Do appropriate preventive screening. Investigate symptoms rather than ignoring them. Don't automatically assume something is "just aging." Don't automatically assume family history means destiny. Continue learning as science changes. Protect your muscle. Protect your metabolism. Protect your brain. Protect your relationships. Protect your sleep. THE SIMPLEST VERSION OF EVERYTHING GARY BRECKA IS SAYING 1. Get sunlight. 2. Breathe. 3. Hydrate. 4. Move. 5. Build muscle. 6. Eat real nutrient-dense food. 7. Protect your metabolism. 8. Sleep like it matters. 9. Challenge your body sometimes. 10. Investigate problems instead of simply accepting them. 11. Don't confuse genetic risk with guaranteed destiny. 12. Don't turn anxiety into your identity. 13. Build relationships and a life that gives you purpose. 14. Stay unbelievably healthy while longevity science continues advancing. And maybe most importantly… DON'T WAIT UNTIL YOU'RE SICK TO BECOME INTERESTED IN YOUR HEALTH. I learned that every single thing that gives me the best chance of being healthy at 120 also gives me a better life at 45. Getting sunlight tomorrow morning makes tomorrow better. Sleeping tonight makes tomorrow better. Building muscle makes this decade better. Eating well makes today better. Getting outside makes today better. Putting my phone down makes today better. Managing anxiety makes today better. Having people I love around me makes today better. So this isn't really an episode about trying to cheat death. It's about refusing to sleepwalk through your health. Your body is the vehicle that carries you through every single experience you're hoping to have. Every trip. Every adventure. Every business idea. Every dinner. Every workout. Every moment with your kids. Every future grandkid. Everything. So take ridiculously good care of it. And instead of looking at aging and thinking… "Well, I guess everything starts going downhill from here…" What if we thought completely differently? What if our goal was: I want to be stronger next year. Healthier next year. More metabolically healthy next year. More informed next year. More capable next year. And then do it again. And again. And again. For decades. Let's make the goal to be fully alive for as much of it as humanly possible. That's the health lesson I'm taking from Gary Brecka. Don't wait for the future of longevity medicine. Build the kind of body today that's ready for it.
Allyne Betancourt, a member of the Dr. Joe Dispenza healing community, joins Dr. Tara Perry to share one of the most extraordinary healing stories on the show to date: how she was diagnosed with advanced colorectal cancer, cured it holistically before ever undergoing surgery, and then — after surgeons removed most of her rectum anyway — used meditation and visualization to regenerate the organ back to nearly full size. Allyne walks through her refusal to "own" her cancer, the alternative protocols she combined with traditional treatment, the devastating aftermath of a surgery she now believes was unnecessary, and the dark night of the soul that led her to Dr. Joe Dispenza's work. The conversation closes with the medical documentation of her regeneration, the forgiveness work that made healing possible, and her hard-won belief that anyone — not just the exceptional — has this same capacity for the impossible.KEY TAKEAWAYS(00:02:38) Diagnosed with advanced T3 colorectal cancer and told surgery and a permanent colostomy bag were her only option — and her calm, immediate decision to refuse(00:05:37) "This is not my cancer" — why Allyne refused to own her diagnosis from day one, and how that mindset carried through seven months of treatment(00:10:01) Combining traditional treatment with alternative approaches: organic-only foods, raising her own grass-fed beef, and daily Buddhist chanting for hours at a time(00:11:54) Fasting five days before each chemo treatment — and the unusually severe reactions her oncologists had never seen before(00:19:27) The pressure to have surgery despite inconclusive scans, and her repeated request that doctors simply look before cutting(00:28:06) Waking up from surgery and instantly knowing she'd made a mistake — while the surgeon celebrated how well the procedure had gone(00:30:13) The physical toll of losing 8-10 centimeters of colon and most of her rectum: nonstop urgency, incontinence, and a dehumanizing new reality(00:36:04) Getting the lab results back — no cancer found anywhere in the tissue that was removed(00:37:15) Five months of worsening depression and a devastating conversation with her husband about not wanting to live like this anymore(00:39:50) The turning point: "I'm either going to live like this, or I have to grow another rectum"(00:46:04) Starting Dr. Joe Dispenza's meditation practice while running to the bathroom every 45-50 minutes, and the first sign of change after two months(00:52:16) Confronting the surgeon who performed the operation — and learning she had no idea Allyne never had cancer to begin with(00:59:50) The visualization practice Allyne used to dissolve scar tissue and "stretch" her remaining rectal tissue back toward full size(01:10:18) The colonoscopy that documented her rectum had grown from 3 centimeters to 10 centimeters, with no trace of scar tissue(01:15:46) Her message on breaking "the habit of being yourself" and why she believes healing the impossible isn't reserved for exceptional people(01:18:09) How Allyne has learned to meet life's setbacks with curiosity and trust instead of fear — even in the face of her husband's deathIf you're ready to take your healing to the next level, schedule your free consultation with Dr. Tara at: https://ConsultTara.com/book
Dave Asprey and Gabby Reece Talk Testosterone Therapy, Scream Cream, Autism as a Superpower, Cancer Protocols, and Surviving Fame in This Double Interview Episode Mega-Episode time! Your hormones might be causing symptoms you've been blaming on aging, stress, or your heart. This double interview episode gives you a real look at biohacking from two different angles: cutting-edge longevity science and the lived experience of hormone optimization after 50. Watch this episode on YouTube for the full video experience: https://www.youtube.com/@DaveAspreyBPR Host Dave Asprey sits down with Gabby Reece, an American athletic icon, wellness entrepreneur, and one of the most influential voices in women's health, fitness, and performance. A former professional beach volleyball player who became Nike's first female spokesperson and shoe designer, Gabby set volleyball records at Florida State University that still stand today, and her signature Nike shoe line famously outsold Air Jordan during its release. She has since built a career at the intersection of performance and longevity, co-founding Hamilton House, Laird Superfood (NYSE: LSF), XPT, and HIGHX, and hosting both The Gabby Reece Show and the Proof of Practice podcast alongside leading voices in women's health and evidence-based performance. She is also a New York Times bestselling author. In this episode, Gabby turns the tables and interviews Dave herself, creating a rare two-way conversation between two people deeply immersed in human performance and biohacking. Dave and Gabby dig into how mitochondria function as quantum systems that shape everything from cognitive performance to spiritual perception, why autism can come with genuine neurological superpowers, and what actually happens in the body when hormone levels shift after 40. Gabby shares her personal protocol, including weekly testosterone injections, an estradiol patch, and a compounded hormone cream that most people have never heard of, and explains how correcting her hormones, not her thyroid, resolved a heart arrhythmia doctors initially missed. The conversation also covers Dave's approach to cancer protocols, why he avoids GLP-1 drugs despite their longevity benefits, the peptides he actually uses for mitochondrial renewal, and how cyclical ketosis, fasting, and a carnivore-leaning diet fit into a sustainable performance strategy. They also talk about AI's growing role in personalized longevity research, sleep optimization while traveling, and the supplement and functional medicine protocols Dave relies on daily. You'll Learn: Why Gabby's heart arrhythmia turned out to be a hormone problem, not a cardiac one, and how testosterone fixed it when nothing else worked What "scream cream" actually is, how it works through vasodilation, and why doctors quietly prescribe it during hormone replacement therapy How mitochondria function as quantum systems and why improving their function can sharpen intuition, focus, and perception Why Dave believes autism comes paired with real cognitive advantages once the physical burden of the condition is addressed What Dave would actually do if diagnosed with cancer, from antifungal protocols to high-power infrared light and early detection screening The peptides Dave uses for mitochondrial renewal, including SS31 and lesser-known Russian bioregulators like epitalon and pinealon Why Dave avoids GLP-1 drugs despite believing low doses carry real longevity benefits How cyclical ketosis, fasting windows, and a carnivore-leaning diet support sustainable long-term metabolism Why surrender, not control, was the hardest and most expensive lesson of Dave's career Gabby's advice for raising confident daughters and why she believes success is less about deserving it and more about how you steward it Thank you to our sponsors! - Beyond Wonderland Conference | Oct 13 - 14, 2026. In this science-backed episode, Dr. Scott Watier and Tommy Welling break down why when you eat matters just as much as what you eat for fasting success. They unpack new research showing that eating the exact same calories just four hours later in the day can leave you hungrier, burn less energy, and push your body toward storing fat instead of using it. The hosts explain how this comes down to a shift in hormone signals — specifically a drop in your body's natural fullness cue — rather than an actual spike in hunger itself. They connect this to real-life patterns many listeners fall into, like relying on dinner as the main meal or getting pulled into unplanned late-night eating, and why earlier fasting windows tend to set people up for more consistent results. Scott and Tommy also share practical ways to offset a later meal when it can't be avoided, including prioritizing protein and adding a short walk afterward. The episode reinforces one of the show's core themes: fasting isn't about skipping meals, it's about choosing when to eat so your body's natural rhythms work with you instead of against you. Listeners are encouraged to shift their eating window just one to two hours earlier this week and pay attention to how their hunger and sleep quality respond. What if the things you're doing to improve your health are actually creating more demand than your body can handle? Exercise, fasting, cold plunges, sauna, breathwork, supplements, and other popular wellness practices can absolutely be beneficial. But a habit isn't automatically healthy just because it's labeled that way. In this episode of the Thyroid Answers Podcast, Dr. Eric Balcavage explains why the effectiveness of any health strategy depends on your current physiological state and your capacity to adapt to the stress it creates. Exercise is a stressor. Fasting is a stressor. Heat and cold exposure are stressors. Even increasing thyroid hormone can increase metabolic demand. When your body has adequate fuel, sleep, nutrients, recovery, and resilience, those stressors may help build capacity. But when you're already under-fueled, exhausted, overtrained, anxious, inflamed, or sleeping poorly, adding more "healthy" stress may reinforce the very protection signals you're trying to resolve. In this episode, you'll learn: Why a healthy habit is only healthy when you have the capacity to benefit from it The difference between demand and capacity and why it matters for thyroid physiology How exercise can either build resilience or contribute to depletion Why hormetic stressors like fasting, cold plunges, sauna, and HIIT aren't appropriate for everyone at every stage How stacking multiple wellness practices can quietly increase your total stress load Why increasing thyroid hormone can increase metabolic demand without necessarily improving recovery Signs that a health strategy may be exceeding your current capacity How to evaluate whether your exercise, fasting, supplements, recovery tools, or other protocols are actually helping A simple way to audit your current habits based on demand, capacity, dose, and recovery The goal isn't to label exercise, fasting, sauna, cold exposure, or any other tool as good or bad. The better question is: Does this tool match the current state of your body? If your energy, sleep, digestion, mood, body temperature, exercise recovery, and overall resilience are improving, your current strategies may be helping you build capacity. If you're becoming more tired, anxious, cold, sore, dependent on caffeine, or unable to recover, it may be time to reconsider the amount of demand you're placing on your physiology. Recovery isn't always about doing more. Sometimes it's about reducing the demand long enough for your body to rebuild the capacity to handle more. What does true revival look like—and how can you experience it personally? In this message from Nehemiah 8, Pastor Chad Glover explores five marks of a life renewed by God. As Israel gathers at the Water Gate after rebuilding Jerusalem's walls, they ask Ezra to read the Book of the Law of Moses. They listen attentively as it is explained, respond in worship, and move from mourning to great joy as they understand and obey God's Word. God cares about the places in your life that feel broken or out of alignment. Discover how placing them in the hands of your Heavenly Father can lead to experiencing a life reset by God. PhenoNet Cleared By FDA To Begin Phase 3 Trial Of Inhaled Alzheimer's Drug PhenoNet has received FDA clearance to begin a Phase 3 trial of PHENOGENE-1A, an inhaled formulation of cromolyn sodium, an asthma drug with decades of safety data. Unlike most Alzheimer's therapies, which target only APOE4 gene carriers, this ~648-person trial stratifies both carriers and non-carriers by genotype, testing whether reducing amyloid aggregation, inflammation, and microglial dysfunction can benefit a broader Alzheimer's population than current treatments reach. Host Dave Asprey explains why this genotype-inclusive design challenges the field's narrow focus on APOE4 carriers, and what it means for families with Alzheimer's history who don't carry the gene. The discovery overturns the long-standing assumption that adult brains have limited capacity to replace lost astrocytes after injury or autoimmune disease. Host Dave Asprey unpacks why this finding reframes brain injury recovery as something the body may already be equipped to handle, and what the newly identified genetic pathways could mean for future regenerative therapies. While collagen produced more total bone volume, the keratin scaffold generated bone that was more structurally organized and closer to natural bone architecture, while remaining stable and integrating cleanly with surrounding tissue. Host Dave Asprey explains why bone quality, not just quantity, matters for weight-bearing repair, and why a cheaper, more sustainable material outperforming the standard is a bigger deal than it sounds. Host Dave Asprey weighs the compliance advantage of an oral option against his ongoing concerns about muscle loss, rebound weight gain, and the fact that GLP-1 drugs treat a symptom rather than the underlying metabolic cause. Only 12% of participants hit that higher threshold. Host Dave Asprey breaks down why public health minimums are a floor, not an optimization target, and what listeners serious about cardiovascular protection should actually be aiming for. A 2024 University of Iowa study found IV vitamin C combined with chemotherapy doubled overall survival in advanced pancreatic cancer patients. Host Dave Asprey reflects on how this vindicates a decades-old idea that was dismissed for the wrong reasons, and what it means for anyone facing a cancer diagnosis. In this episode, Kyle Jones sits down with cardiologist Dr. Rasham Sandhu, host of Next Phase Human, for a conversation about taking a more informed and proactive approach to health. They explore the importance of the patient-physician partnership, why context matters when evaluating cholesterol and cardiovascular risk, and how better information can lead to better health decisions. Dr. Sandhu also shares his perspective on whole foods, processed foods, fasting, sleep, exercise, electrolytes, metabolic health, and the foundational habits that can have the greatest impact on long-term wellness. Most importantly, they discuss why health isn't simply about treating disease; it's about building the knowledge and habits that help you stay healthy in the first place. Piracetam, Racetams & Nootropics: Dave Asprey on the Original Smart Drug, Brain Optimization and How to Biohack Memory, Focus and Cognitive Decline We're excited to bring you another Dave solo education masterclass, this one breaking down the molecule that started the entire nootropics industry: Racetams Watch this episode on YouTube for the full video experience: https://www.youtube.com/@DaveAspreyBPR Host Dave Asprey pulls back the curtain on piracetam and the racetam family, the original nootropics that quietly built the foundation for modern human performance and brain optimization. As the father of biohacking and someone who has taken racetams almost every single day for 25 years, Dave brings firsthand experience most experts simply don't have. He built two Bulletproof-era companies and led the biohacking movement while running this stack daily, and in this episode, he shares exactly how it worked for him. Dave traces the strange 1964 Belgian lab discovery that forced scientists to invent the word "nootropic" in the first place, then breaks down how these compounds shift acetylcholine, glutamate, and AMPA signaling to improve memory, focus, and neuroplasticity without touching dopamine or spiking your heart rate. He covers the mitochondria and membrane fluidity mechanisms behind the anti-aging and longevity effects, walks through dosing for all five major racetams, and explains who actually benefits versus who's wasting their money. This is essential listening for anyone serious about biohacking, human performance, functional medicine, and brain optimization. Whether you're stacking supplements for sleep optimization, exploring fasting and ketosis for metabolism, or just trying to think clearer without sacrificing your health, this episode hands you a real framework for hacking cognitive decline before it starts. You'll Learn: Why piracetam forced scientists to invent the term "nootropic" and what actually qualifies as one How racetams change acetylcholine, glutamate, and AMPA signaling without acting like a stimulant The link between racetams, mitochondria, and neuroplasticity, and why it matters for anti-aging Dosing breakdowns for piracetam, aniracetam, oxiracetam, pramiracetam, and phenylpiracetam Who benefits most: aging brains, stroke recovery, athletes, and anyone flying frequently How to stack racetams with choline, Danger Coffee, and other supplements the smarter not harder way The regulatory mess keeping safe, tested nootropics out of reach in the US Thank you to our sponsors! - ALP | Head to http://alppouch.com/ and use code DAVE for 20% off your first order. - Pique | Head over to Piquelife.com/Dave to get 20% off your order. - OneSkin | Get 15% off OneSkin with the code DAVE at https://www.oneskin.co/DAVE #oneskinpod Dave Asprey is a four-time New York Times bestselling author, founder of Bulletproof Coffee, and the father of biohacking. You've been told your whole life that your condition is genetic, that it runs in your family, and you're stuck managing it forever, but I'm telling you that with rare exceptions, we don't inherit disease at all. What we inherit is an inability to refine a raw material, which creates a deficiency, and that deficiency is what shows up as the symptom you've been calling a disease. Find what your body can't make on its own, put it back, and watch what happens. UFOs, UAPs, Non-Human Contact & Zero-Point Energy: Dr. Steven Greer on Government Disclosure, Consciousness and the Truth About Extraterrestrial Intelligence Get ready to have your entire understanding of reality challenged. This episode reveals the science behind non-human intelligence contact, the physics of consciousness, and why the biggest secret in human history could rewrite everything you know about energy, medicine, and human potential. Watch this episode on YouTube for the full video experience: https://www.youtube.com/@DaveAspreyBPR Host Dave Asprey sits down with Dr. Steven Greer, a retired emergency physician and founder of the Center for the Study of Extraterrestrial Intelligence. For over 35 years, Dr. Greer has briefed CIA directors, Pentagon officials, and members of Congress on UFO disclosure, built an archive of more than 750 whistleblower testimonies, and pioneered the CE5 Contact protocol used to initiate peaceful contact with non-human craft. His firsthand experiences, government-level access, and decades of documented research make him one of the most credible voices in the disclosure movement. Dr. Greer and Dave dive into the science of consciousness as a nonlocal field, the zero-point energy technology he believes has been suppressed for 70 years, and how mastering this "hacking" of physics could eliminate scarcity, extend human longevity, and unlock forms of neuroplasticity and human performance most people have never considered. They explore near-death experiences, precognitive dreams, remote viewing, and the idea that a small percentage of people practicing deep meditative states can shift collective consciousness at scale. The conversation also touches on how corruption, fear, and disinformation have kept transformative technology out of public hands, and what it would take for humanity to responsibly manage a disclosure that changes everything. This is essential listening for anyone into biohacking, human performance, consciousness exploration, longevity, functional medicine, and understanding how the mind and unseen fields of energy shape human potential. You'll Learn: Why Dr. Greer believes the U.S. government has had access to anti-gravity and zero-point energy technology since the 1950s How consciousness functions as a nonlocal field and what that means for human potential and neuroplasticity The real story behind the Roswell crash and its connection to nuclear weapons testing How meditation and altered states may unlock remote viewing and precognitive ability Why Dr. Greer believes only 1% of a population practicing coherent consciousness can shift outcomes for the other 99% What it would take to responsibly disclose suppressed energy technology without global economic collapse How fear-based narratives and disinformation campaigns have shaped public perception of non-human contact Thank you to our sponsors! - Qualia | Go to qualialife.com/ASPREY for 50% off, and use code ASPREY for an additional 15% off. - ZenBud | Dave's Nervous System Biohack. I've been teaching fasting for years, but this conversation with Dr. Jason Fung made me rethink a few things.Dr. Fung joins me to share how his thinking has evolved since publishing The Obesity Code, including what newer research suggests about longer fasts and why modified fasting may be more useful than many people realize. We talk about whether a strict water-only fast is always necessary, how fasting aids such as bone broth, avocado, or olives may help someone continue longer, and why using a little support during a fast is not automatically “cheating.”Dr. Fung also breaks down the three types of hunger and explains why food noise is not always a sign that your body needs fuel. Sometimes hunger is physical. Sometimes it is emotional. And sometimes it is simply a pattern your brain has learned from your environment. This conversation reminded me that fasting does not have to be rigid to be effective. The goal is not to win at fasting. The goal is to use it in a way that supports your metabolic health and still works in your real life.In this episode you'll learn:How Dr. Fung's thinking has evolved since writing The Obesity CodeWhy the calorie-focused model of weight loss leaves out hormonesWhat the body decides to do with the calories you eatThe difference between water-only fasting and modified fastingWhy modified fasting may be easier to sustainWhether eating during a fasting window automatically eliminates the benefitsDr. Fung's perspective on GLP-1 medicationsHow to approach the first meal after a fastDr. Fung's three foundational rules for metabolic health_Resources Mentioned:Bone Broth - Use code MINDY10 for 10% offOrganic Olive Oil_More on Dr. Jason FungDr. Jason Fung is a physician, researcher, and bestselling author known for his work on fasting, insulin resistance, obesity, type 2 diabetes, and metabolic health. Subtitle: A Nasal Spray Longevity Screen, Why Less Protein May Age You Better, Cadaver Skin Injectables, Art's Effect on Biological Age, and Which Anti-Aging Interventions Actually Move the Needle Nasal Spray Ingredient Emerges As Unexpected Longevity Candidate In Massive Drug Screen Researchers mapped 2,358 longevity-associated genes across the body's broader protein and signaling networks, then screened 6,442 approved drugs to see which ones nudged those aging pathways in a healthier direction. Oxymetazoline, the active ingredient in nasal sprays like Afrin, was among 21 standout candidates, with a predicted pathway running through the ACKR3 receptor and connecting to major aging proteins including NF-kB, TP53, and AKT1. Host Dave Asprey explains why this computational screen is a promising research lead rather than a protocol, and why chronic use of a vasoconstricting nasal spray carries real risks regardless of what a network analysis suggests. Researchers point to FGF21, a liver hormone that rises under protein or amino acid scarcity and boosts energy expenditure and glucose regulation, as a key mechanism. Host Dave Asprey breaks down why blanket protein advice fails older adults preserving muscle and highly active people just as badly as it fails everyone else, and why matching intake to actual biology beats maximizing protein at every meal. Human-derived tissue matrices already have a track record in burn and wound care, but this specific product is not yet FDA-approved and lacks comparative trial data against existing fillers. Host Dave Asprey separates legitimate regenerative medicine from a novel cosmetic product still waiting on long-term safety and consistency data. Benefits appeared whether people were actively creating art or simply attending performances and exhibits. Host Dave Asprey argues this expands what counts as a health input beyond molecules and devices, since novelty, meaning, and social connection influence the nervous system too. Semaglutide produced the strongest single result, slowing DunedinPACE by about nine percent in a trial of adults with HIV-associated fat redistribution, though a separate fatty liver study produced mixed outcomes. Host Dave Asprey explains why a strong mechanistic story does not guarantee a moved biomarker, and why clinical outcomes, functional measures, and safety data all matter alongside any single clock reading.
