Americans continued to pile on credit card debt this year, with total balances approaching $1 trillion sooner than some experts had expected. US credit cardholders now owe $986 billion in debt, data from the Federal Reserve of New York found Monday. That's $59 billion higher than the record set in the fourth quarter of 2019, when balances stood at $927 billion. It's also the first time since 2001 in which credit card debt didn't fall in the first quarter. The uptick in credit card debt is a sign that some US households are being forced to lean on credit cards to meet basic monthly expenses as inflation and high interest rates diminish their savings. Still, there are some ways consumers can use credit cards to their advantage, experts say, when used wisely. How is the country split between people who use credit cards the right way and those who use them the wrong way? Credit cards can be about the cheapest way to use credit - or one of the most expensive. What makes the difference? Financial Analyst for Credit Sesame. Now more than ever, both leaders and their teams crave deeper connection and more authentic relationships. But how can organizations accomplish this goal — particularly knowing that it will require a reset of how leaders and teams interact? Leaders and team members must embrace a new mindset. They need to acknowledge that the leader-team relationship is more than a one-way service-oriented arrangement. Both sides need support equally if the relationship and what they do together is to be successful. In this episode of Pages, we're joined by Seth R. Silver, Ed.D., principal of Silver Consulting, Inc., and Timothy M. Franz, Ph.D., an Organizational Psychologist, Professor of Psychology, and Chair at St. John Fisher College. Their new book is Meaningful Partnership at Work: How the Workplace Covenant Ensures Mutual Accountability and Success between Leaders and Teams. Listen in as we discuss how to create a new paradigm of partnership through the development of a workplace covenant. Ultimately, this process enables essential dialogue and engagement, which in turn helps create and continuously improve empathy, respect, trust, alignment, and — ultimately — partnership.

How does Jeremy get Freedom Scholar students to fall in love with reading? What is the integrated reading curriculum model? Why should we fall in love with the problem? Jeremy Smith answers these questions in this episode. Since his time as a youth running around Bay St., Jeremy always knew he wanted to be something bigger than himself – something with a real purpose. Early on that took him onto the football field, as quarterback for Bishop Kearney High School. Later it led him to pursue a teaching degree so that he could be better positioned to mentor and be part of his community's support system. Independently researching the history of his culture and the discriminatory nature of public education in classrooms and in policies against students of color and impoverished children cemented his personal mission to become a different type of educator. Determined to fight the cradle-to-prison pipeline, Jeremy worked at Freedom School as a Site Coordinator every summer while pursuing degrees in Business Management and Childhood Education at St. John Fisher College. Year after year under his coordination, Freedom School was a community exemplar of how to foster a love of reading, increase student reading scores, cooperative economics, social action, and civic engagement. When Freedom School ceased operation in 2020, Jeremy gathered a group of former Freedom School teachers, students, parents, researchers, and community members to form the Freedom Scholars Learning Center. The smell of football is in the air. The Buffalo Bills' rookies reported to the team's training camp at Rochester's St. John Fisher College on Monday, signaling the unofficial end of the 2022 offseason and the start of ‘football season.' Though it will be some time before pads are worn and on-field competition is faced, the fact that any meaningful reps are occurring signals that the best time of year is fastly approaching. Buffalo's 2022 training camp will be an important one as the team gears up for what fans and analysts alike are dubbing a ‘Super Bowl or bust' 2022 NFL season. With a slightly re-tootled roster now containing the NFL's active sack leader in Von Miller and returning defensive contributors in Jordan Phillips and Shaq Lawson, it's fair to assume that the Bills may actually improve in the upcoming campaign, this after coming off a season that saw them come within 13 seconds of advancing to the AFC Championship Game for the second consecutive year. The groundwork for these improvements will be laid throughout training camp. On this episode of the Cover 1 Roundup, hosts David Faux and Kyle Silagyi preview camp, going over the six Buffalo players they're most intrigued to watch throughout the multi-week extravaganza. Among the topics they discuss are: How will Greg Rousseau benefit from the on-and-off-field tutelage of Von Miller? What do we expect to see from wide receiver Khalil Shakir at camp? Damar Hamlin and Buffalo's depth at safety And much more! Though it will be some time before pads are worn and on-field competition is faced, the fact that any meaningful reps are occurring signals that the best time of year is fastly approaching. A few short weeks and a quick trip down the I-90 are the only things separating the Buffalo Bills from their 2022 training camp. Buffalo kicks off its 2022 camp on July 24, its first back at Rochester's St. John Fisher College since 2019. With a roster as thoroughly talented as that of the Bills', spots, especially at the bottom of the roster, are few and far between. Training camp will determine which players will round out Buffalo's roster this year, as well as provide fans the opportunity to reacclimate themselves with the likes of Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs. It will also be their first opportunity to see players like Von Miller and Kaiir Elam in Bills' uniforms. On this episode of the Cover 1 Roundup, Kyle Silagyi and David Faux are joined by Cover 1 contributors Hans Hansen and Greg Vorse to preview Buffalo's upcoming camp, highlighting the eight storylines they're most heavily intrigued by. My One Word: Focus A few years ago I was reading an article on Jon Gordon's (one of my favorite authors) website about how each year he selects a word for himself to emphasize for the upcoming year. Of course I thought that was a fantastic idea and quickly decided to begin a similar tradition of selecting my own word for the year. My word for 2022 is Focus. I've written about the skill and concept of Focus for quite some time. If you have followed along over the course of the past few months, I've written extensively on the topic. I won't go into that much detail about the five specific aspects of teaching someone the skill of focus. This year, however, I feel it is a good time to select Focus as my word. I've selected it for a multitude of reasons. First, with so much on my plate this year (professionally and personally) I feel it is most important to concentrate on what is most important to me this year. On a more personal note, I had three goals I wanted to accomplish in 2021; 1) complete a Half-Ironman race, 2) finish two other shorter Triathlon races, and 3) compete at a body weight under 260lbs. Needless to say I didn't come close to achieving my body weight goal. I got close at 267lbs., but definitely not close enough. The Half-Ironman race I was registered for was canceled due to COVID-19 (out of my control), as were the shorter races I had on my calendar. Second, and most important on a professional level, is to concentrate and emphasize more time with Forza Athletics. Similar to my personal goals, I also have professional goals that I try to accomplish each year. I've had some relative success writing and publishing peer-reviewed research papers. Since I graduated from St. John Fisher College in May 2017, I have had a peer-reviewed research paper accepted for publication. I had two accepted in 2020 that were published in 2021. I had one accepted in 2021 that will be published in 2022. This is one I'm really proud of and I hope it will assist coaches in further developing and understanding how important it is to have a sound coaching philosophy and is based on your values and what is most important to you. With Forza Athletics, I'm going to Focus more time and energy on helping support high-school, collegiate, and post-collegiate throwers. I'm going to do this by providing more relevant content that will assist throwers in achieving their own unique and specific goals. Everyone is different, has different ideas, and a different path on how to get there. I want to illuminate that path for those throwers. I want to help them realize their dreams. Identifying a goal is great, sharing that goal with others holds us accountable, and having someone illuminate the path towards achievement is powerful. Since launching my Holistic Coaching program, I've had athletes from all over the world reach out to schedule a consultation to discuss their goals. I want to continue to assist those that are looking for something a little different, that doesn't quite fit a “box”. When all things are equal during a competition, it is the athlete that is more mentally prepared that has the edge on their competitors. I want to provide that edge to new, aspiring, and seasoned throwers. Those are the aspects of my life that I'm going to emphasize in 2022. What is your one word for 2022?

In our fifth episode of Pages of HR, we are joined by Seth R.

Timothy M. Franz, Ph.D., is an Organizational Psychologist, Professor of Psychology, and Chair at St. John Fisher College. In addition to his academic role, he also works as an organizational consultant through his firm, Franz Consulting. His new book, with coathor Seth R. Silver, Ed.D., is Meaningful Partnership at Work: How the Workplace Covenant Ensures Mutual Accountability and Success between Leaders and Teams (Productivity Press, Aug. 27, 2021). In this episode Steve and Tim Franz discuss:Introducing thoughtful changes in the workplaceAn ongoing dialogue between leader and teamThe resistance to a culture of partnershipEliminating future conflict with dialogue Key Takeaways: Organizations are known for making quick changes in the workplace but that has a certain disadvantage. When you take research as is without doing your own research in the context of your company, the change may not benefit your company at all. Creating a culture of partnership means to establish a connection between the leader and the team that's open, honest, and supportive. There must be a psychologically safe space where team and leader can discuss expectations and obligations with each other so that everyone feels supported and can be successful. With a dialogue between people on what expectations and obligations they hold for each other, some conflicts can be outright eliminated or be more easily resolved. “Any good leader - their primary customer is their team and their primary job is to develop their team, to move their team forward so that they get better and the organization gets better. ” - Tim Franz Order their book, Meaningful Partnership at Work by clicking this link: https://www.amazon.com/Meaningful-Partnership-Work-Seth-Silver/dp/1032020113 Connect with Tim Franz:LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/tim-franz-consulting/Website: www.teambuildingprocess.com YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCXZAN-ih04Jne23UqutxjBgEmail: tfranz@sjfc.edu Connect with Steve and Jason:LinkedIn: Jason or SteveWebsite: Rewire, Inc.: Transformed Thinking Email: grow@rewireinc.com Show notes by Podcastologist: Justine TallaAudio production by Turnkey Podcast Productions. For the second straight year, the Buffalo Bills will hold their training camp at the team's practice facility in Orchard Park, N.Y. instead of their normal location at St. John Fisher College in Pittsford, a suburb of Rochester, N.Y. On the latest episode of the Billieve Podcast, host John Boccacino discusses the future of Bills training camp, which has been held at Fisher every year since 2000. The move to switch camp from Fisher to Orchard Park was made because of difficulties with ongoing COVID-19 protocols such as social distancing for non-vaccinated people, and it also comes as the current agreement between the team and St. John Fisher College comes to an end. While head coach Sean McDermott and general manager Brandon Beane have always professed to enjoying holding training camp down the Thruway in Rochester, the Bills were one of only nine NFL teams not to hold training camp close to their team facility. The Bills have a state-of-the-art training facility, as well as two outdoor grass practice fields to use. Additionally, they can move inside the fieldhouse in the case of inclement weather. Boccacino dives into the history of training camp at Fisher, including why the team moved its training camp Fredonia to Pittsford in 2000. He discusses the pros and cons of holding training camp away from home, speculates on whether camp will ever return to Fisher, and shares his training camp memories from Fisher. Join Coach Cahill and St John Fisher College Offensive Coordinator Ian Pace as they discuss Freshman vs Transfer player, players first dealing with adversity and jumping into the Transfer Portal, players who can't find a home in the transfer portal, the change in the term offer and so much more! Pace comes to St. John Fisher having most recently been on the coaching staff at Division III Centre College where he guided the Colonels' offensive line and managed all gameday operations including run play calls and quality control. Prior to his stint at Centre, Pace worked the sidelines at Mississippi State University as the quality control coordinator for the team's tight ends where he helped lead the Bulldogs to the 2019 Music City Bowl. While in Starkville, Pace led all tight end position meetings and coached Farrod Green who was selected to participate in the NFLPA Bowl and currently plays for the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League. "I'm extremely humbled, honored, and enthusiastic to be named the new offensive coordinator at St. John Fisher College,” added Pace who earned a Bachelor's degree from Fordham before obtaining a Master's of Science degree from Bowling Green University. “I would like to thank Director of Athletics Bob Ward, Vice President for Enrollment Management Jose Perales, Assistant Athletic Director Jennifer Granger, and the rest of the hiring committee: coaches Bari Mance, Brandon Potter, and athletic facility manager Chris Bowman. I'm extremely excited and very appreciative of coach Vosburgh for this opportunity, and I'm looking forward to joining the St. John Fisher Football family. It is an unbelievable opportunity to help contribute to a program with a rich tradition and promising future. I look forward to rolling up my sleeves and getting to work." Before making the jump to the SEC, Pace was an integral part of a coaching staff at Fordham University that transformed the Rams into a perennial power. Over his six seasons at Fordham, Pace was a part of nearly 50 wins, a Patriot League title, and three straight NCAA FCS Championship appearances. Upon Pace's arrival in The Bronx in 2013, the Rams turned a 6-5 team into a 12-2 juggernaut that set a school record for wins in a season and won its first-ever NCAA FCS home playoff game after defeating Sacred Heart in the opening round, 37-27. In 2014, the Rams continued to roll after going 11-3 on the gridiron. The team would go on to win its first conference crown since 2007 en route to another second round appearance in the NCAA Championship. The following season, Fordham posted a 9-3 record and was once again among the league's top offenses as the Rams made their third consecutive appearance in the NCAA FCS Championship. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/coachcahillshow/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/coachcahillshow/support

For change to happen one must establish goals, deliver them in clear communication, and often they need to collaborate with and create strong partnerships to achieve a mission. Movements for change are often is sparked by a moment in history that defines us. Dina Johnson has answered a calling. In response to questions from her own teenage children about George Floyd, Dina made a conscious effort to educate a community by forming a coalition for positive change. Started in Monroe County, New York the Monroe County Family Coalition (MCFC) is looking to mobilize this movement and open the lines of communication around inequity gaps to bring about necessary change in our communities. MCFC is educating through action and has clearly defined goals. Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen met with the media after their last practice at St. John Fisher College. Allen discussed: *Preseason *WR Andre Roberts *Trust in the offensive linemen *Rookie nerves *Leading by example *LeSean McCoy's 2019 approach *Advice for Tyree Jackson *Rapport with the WRs All audio owned by the Buffalo Bills and NFL.
Training Camp has begun across the National Football League. The Buffalo Bills reported to St. John Fisher College in Rochester, NY, as they have since 2000, for their preparations for the 2019-20 Campaign. As expected, there has been plenty of good and bad, after 4 days, but optimism has probably never been higher. Josh Allen has continued to improve his passing ability, making better reads, and smarter passes, instead of forcing it down field. He's also made incredible connections with newcomers John Brown and Cole Beasley. The Offensive Line, which was a focal point heading into this year, due to its inadequacy last year, has some work to do to come together yet. There have been a few rotations since Day 1, but the O-Line is getting different looks and valuable repetitions. The Tight End position has been plagued by the injury bug since the beginning of camp. Another position that was in much need of upgrade, Jason Croom and Dawson Knox have both succumbed to Hamstring injuries, leaving the workloads open and a clear cut number one still in question. The Defense has been efficient as well, starting off the week defending the Red Zone specifically, which Buffalo was ranked 30th in last season. They have pushed the offense, in the trenches, in the air, and emotionally. As long as the Defense continues to do this, both sides of the ball will improve.

The Social Network Show welcomes the National Crime Prevention Council Series with Co-host Michelle Boykins, Senior Director of Communications and her guests, Lee Struble and Steve Grant to the January 26, 2015 episode. The NCPC series now takes us to the topic of campus safety and if you are a student or you have children in college, this is an important show to listen to. Lee Struble and Steve Grant, experts in law enforcement and public safety talk about the challenges of campus safety and their biggest concerns about protecting students, and protecting the law enforcement officers that protect the students. In this show you will hear about their efforts to improve the relationship with law enforcement and the college campuses; how the recent events in the news with racial profiling have transformed the way law enforcement addresses the campus climate; the training that Lee and Steve are doing with law enforcement on racial and cultural diversity; very important advice that they are giving to students regarding cooperating with law enforcement; and the role that social media plays into safety on campuses. Lee Struble is President of WSM Trainers and Consultants (est. 1996). He recently retired after a 30-year career in higher education public safety (Nazareth College, Monroe Community College, Rochester Institute of Technology and St. John Fisher College). He is also a senior trainer for the National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC) and provides security assessment and consulting services to colleges and universities throughout the United States.
