CNN Debate (WATCH): Cruz defends his decision to appear on CNN, criticizing Collins for interrupting and for what he portrays as partisan framing. He argues against the idea that political violence is equally present on both sides of the spectrum. Media Narratives: The podcast accuses outlets like CNN, MSNBC, and ABC of dishonesty, especially in their coverage of motives behind the assassination. Cruz and Ferguson highlight what they view as selective reporting and propaganda. Released Text Messages: They discuss text exchanges between the accused killer and his partner, portraying them as a direct confession. They sharply criticize ABC News for characterizing these messages as “touching” or “romantic.” Contrasting Responses to Violence: Cruz draws comparisons between left-wing protests (e.g., George Floyd protests, Antifa, BLM) and right-wing responses, arguing conservatives respond with prayer and peace while leftists respond with riots and violence. Community & Advocacy: The episode also promotes the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews’ “Flags of Fellowship” campaign, encouraging solidarity with Israel and remembrance of victims of the October 2023 terror attack. Karah talks with Carter Sherman, a reproductive health and justice reporter for The Guardian, and author of the book The Second Coming: Sex and the Next Generation's Fight Over Its Future. They unpack how tech factors into the “Sex Recession,” sex as a proxy measure for empathy and human connection, and how all of this is a lot more political than you might think. Hey friends, Chase here. If social media feels heavier than it used to, you're not imagining it. Infinite feeds, algorithm whiplash, and the pressure to post “one more thing” can drain the very creativity we're trying to share. Here's the shift: treat social media like a stage you step onto with intent—not a sofa you collapse into by default. Social Media as a Stage, Not a Sofa A stage has purpose: you arrive prepared, you deliver, you connect, you step off. A sofa invites scrolling, numbing, and losing track of the most precious resource you own—your attention. When you design systems that honor the stage, you get 90% of the upside with a fraction of the noise. Create before you consume. Get your ideas out of your head and into the world first. Then study the landscape with clear eyes: What worked? What didn't? What can you improve next rep? Here's what we get into: Systems resist their systems: your schedule, not the algorithm, sets when and how you show up Frameworks, not feeds: reusable prompts and formats that make creation repeatable Stagecraft: show up to present, connect, and move the ball forward—then step off The big idea? Social platforms are powerful—when they serve your purpose. Use them as a stage: step on with intention, deliver your best, connect with your people, and step off before the sofa starts calling your name. For the full playbook—including how to set boundaries that stick—check out this week's episode of the show. Until next time—stay intentional, stay bold, and keep creating.

Warning Signs Ignored:The suspect allegedly showed multiple warning signs before the shooting, including becoming more political, distancing himself from coworkers during political discussions, and openly expressing intentions to harm Charlie Kirk. Friends, family, and even coworkers reportedly noticed this but may not have taken it seriously. The Shooting & Evidence:After firing the fatal shot, video footage shows the suspect escaping by jumping off a building. Investigators recovered forensic evidence from the scene, including DNA on a towel wrapped around the firearm, a screwdriver, and potentially on the rifle itself. These DNA samples matched the suspect, confirming his involvement. The Note & Motive:A note was reportedly left by the suspect, stating he had the opportunity to kill Kirk and intended to take it. Though the note was destroyed, forensic traces and interviews confirmed its existence and content. The motive is tied to political ideology, which investigators say "infected him and had taken over." Investigation Challenges:Law enforcement officials emphasized the need to determine whether people in the suspect’s circle knew about his intentions and ignored them, or dismissed them as jokes. Accountability for those who failed to act is being considered. Political & Legal Dimensions:The Utah governor, Spencer Cox, noted that the suspect had clear left-leaning political beliefs and expressed dislike for Kirk. The confirmation of forensic evidence and DNA ties the suspect directly to the crime, opening the possibility of the death penalty. Praise for Law Enforcement:The document also contains praise for the FBI, local authorities, and figures like Dan Bongino, Kash Patel, and Donald Trump for their roles in handling the case. The role of social media and why those deranged people need to celebrate the death of Charlie Kirk.Washington Post columnist fired over social media posts after Charlie Kirk's assassinationA left-wing columnist revealed in a Substack on Monday that she was fired by the Washington Post over social media posts amid the assassination of Charlie Kirk and the Colorado school shooting. "On Bluesky, in the aftermath of the horrific shootings in Utah and Colorado, I condemned America's acceptance of political violence and criticized its ritualized responses — the hollow, cliched calls for ‘thoughts and prayers' and ‘this is not who we are' that normalize gun violence and absolve [W]hite perpetrators especially, while nothing is done to curb deaths," Karen Attiah wrote.Kirk, a leading conservative activist, was assassinated at a campus event in Utah on Wednesday. That same day, a separate shooting at a Colorado school left two students injured and the assailant dead.Attiah included multiple screenshots of her posts on Bluesky, including one that read, "Part of what keeps America so violent is the insistence that people perform care, empty goodness and absolution for [W]hite men who espouse hatred and violence.""My only direct reference to Kirk was one post— his own words on record," Attiah wrote on Substack. In a post to her Bluesky account, Attiah wrote, "'Black women do not have the brain processing power to be taken seriously. You have to go steal a [W]hite person's slot'- Charlie Kirk." Attiah appeared to reference a July 2023 remark made by Kirk during "The Charlie Kirk Show" about affirmative action in which he named Joy Reid, Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, Michelle Obama and Sheila Jackson Lee, according to Reuters, rather than speaking broadly about all Black women, as one viral X post suggested.Attiah said she was fired for speaking out against political violence, "racial double standards" and America's "empathy towards guns.""The Post accused my measured Bluesky posts of being ‘unacceptable', ‘gross misconduct' and of endangering the physical safety of colleagues — charges without evidence, which I reject completely as false. They rushed to fire me without even a conversation. This was not only a hasty overreach, but a violation of the very standards of journalistic fairness and rigor the Post claims to uphold," Attiah wrote in the post, where she included a 2019 photo of herself and Washington Post owner Jeff Bezos.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
In this episode of Selective Ignorance, Mandii B is joined by super producer A-King, journalist Jayson Rodriguez, and returning guest Ray Daniels for a thought-provoking exploration of pop culture, accountability, and the current state of society. The conversation kicks off with an introduction and book promotion [00:00], before moving into a sharp dissection of today’s biggest pop culture headlines [00:55]. From there, the hosts dive into the art of public apologies and accountability [02:44], reflecting on how controversial perspectives on relationships continue to shape both personal dynamics and public perception [05:14]. This leads into a larger discussion on the role of social media and how it amplifies — and sometimes distorts — public discourse [08:59]. The episode then shifts into rap culture, beginning with an honest breakdown of hip hop and street culture’s current state [13:48], followed by an in-depth look at Young Thug’s leaked jail calls and what they reveal about celebrity, loyalty, and consequences [18:44]. Relationship dynamics return to the forefront through the lens of Mariah the Scientist’s public narrative [24:32], before the group pauses for reflections and conclusions on how these conversations connect back to accountability and cultural responsibility [29:52]. As the dialogue expands, they explore the ecosystem of confidence and leadership and how it influences both individuals and communities [33:07]. The conversation also examines the evolution of language and shifting social norms [36:09], before celebrating athletic achievements like Carmelo Anthony’s Hall of Fame speech as part of a broader narrative about legacy and inspiration [37:33]. In its final stretch, the episode tackles the complexity of relationships and public perception [40:44], the impact of political narratives and violence — including the controversial killing of Charlie Kirk [45:05] — and ends with a powerful reflection on empathy, accountability, and the real-world consequences of opinions in today’s hyperconnected society [50:35]. “No Holes Barred: A Dual Manifesto Of Sexual Exploration And Power” w/ Tempest X!Sale Link Follow the host on Social MediaMandii B Instagram/X @fullcourtpumps Follow the guest on Social Media@raydaniels Follow the show on Social MediaInstagram @selectiveignorancepodTiktok @selective.ignoranceX/Twitter @selectiveig_pod See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In this kickoff to our special series on trade, Nick and Goldy unpack why trade policy isn't just about tariffs and treaties—it's about people, power, and priorities. For decades, the prevailing narrative has been that trade benefits everyone by lowering prices. But the real question is: who does it help, and who does it hurt? From the false promises of globalization to the overlooked damage in hollowed-out communities, this episode sets the stage for exploring a fresh way to think about trade—one grounded in power dynamics, democratic values, and middle-out economics. Join Jim and Greg for Monday's 3 Martini Lunch as they call out Democrats and the media for lying about Charlie Kirk's assassin, criticize Attorney General Pam Bondi for forgetting the First Amendment, and laugh at Pete Buttigieg's sudden admission that Joe Biden should never have run for re-election.First, they update the latest evidence in the case against the shooter who assassinated Charlie Kirk last week in Utah and then hammer elected Democrats and leftists in the media who stressed that the parents were Republicans and tried to peddle the fiction that killer was mad that Kirk was not far right enough, even after the facts were painfully obvious.Next, Jim and Greg reprimand Attorney General Pam Bondi for threatening to prosecute people for their despicable celebrations of Charlie Kirk's murder. She also demanded employers fire any employees who did that. They remind Bondi that public pressure on employers over that kind of speech is very different than the government filing charges or trying to get people fired. Jim says that's exactly what the left has been trying to do to conservatives for years. Finally, they laugh as former Transportation Sec. Pete Buttigieg weakly follows Kamala Harris' lead and says Joe Biden definitely should not have run for re-election in 2024. But Buttigieg, who also never said a word about his alleged concerns, says it's just time to move on now. Please visit our great sponsors:If your business can't adapt in real-time, you're in a world of hurt. 00:00:50 – Trump, NFL & Dictatorship ComparisonsThe show opens with Trump mocking the NFL's new kickoff rule as “sissy football.” This segues into a warning about Trump's emergency powers, tariffs, and governing by decree, comparing him to global dictators. 00:13:58 – Free Speech Betrayed After Kirk's DeathDiscussion of Trump, JD Vance, and GOP leaders calling for censorship in the wake of Charlie Kirk's assassination. The Smith-Mundt Act is misrepresented to justify cracking down on the press, with comparisons to Reagan's betrayal of the Second Amendment after the Brady shooting. 00:23:10 – Media Control & False NarrativesGuests like Tucker Carlson and RFK Jr. are accused of aiding efforts to redefine free speech as terrorism. Skepticism is raised toward Steve Bannon's claims and the FBI's version of events, framing it as another push toward surveillance and internet ID mandates. 00:36:17 – Armed Queers & Radical MarxistsCoverage of “Armed Queers SLC,” a Marxist-LGBT militant group in Utah linked to Cuba. Their open revolutionary training and ties to Antifa figures are framed as proof that universities are breeding grounds for leftist terrorism. 00:52:02 – First Amendment vs. ViolenceDebate shifts to why the First Amendment is more important than the Second, arguing that radicalization comes from schools, culture, and censorship itself—not weapons. Liberty is portrayed as inherently dangerous but preferable to state control. 01:18:12 – Internet Control & Epstein Files BuriedSpeculation deepens around the Kirk shooting, with questions about the rifle used, multiple shooters, and hand signals. The assassination is tied to a broader effort to end online anonymity, while the Epstein files are said to be quietly buried under the media fog. 01:34:28 – J.K. Rowling & Faith StrugglesDiscussion of Rowling's “God-shaped vacuum” comments, her shift toward more conservative views, and Pascal's wager. The host critiques her books as amoral and emphasizes grounding in the Bible. 01:49:45 – Authoritarian Conservatism & Cancel CultureCriticism of JD Vance and other GOP leaders for embracing cancel culture, urging snitching on Kirk critics, and mirroring Stasi-style tactics. The host stresses this betrays free speech and liberty. 01:55:23 – Social Media, Radicalization & SchoolsDebunking claims that social media “killed Charlie Kirk.” Instead, government schools are identified as the true source of radicalization, pushing Marxism, LGBT ideology, and secular humanism. 02:28:38 – AI Fails & Security RisksCoverage of how AI coding creates massive security vulnerabilities and relies on underpaid human moderators. The “AI bubble” is framed as a pyramid scheme propped up by propaganda and capital burn. 02:53:43 – Gold Surges Amid Panic CutsFinancial analyst Ed Dowd predicts a “panic rate cut cycle,” driving gold above $3,700. Gold is praised as a hedge against inflation, privacy loss, and collapsing fiat systems, while Trump's tariffs are blamed for worsening the economy. Patrick unpacks the public reaction to Charlie Kirk’s murder, focusing on the moral backlash against those celebrating the tragedy and the wave of firings and exposure that followed. He fields questions about Kirk’s approach and challenges perceptions, weaving in raw perspectives from callers, many reflecting on race, online culture, forgiveness, and how real-world consequences ripple out from digital outrage. Voices from the black community add truth and tension, sharpening the episode’s call for clarity, dialogue, and deeper humanity in a fractured society. Patrick comments on the people who celebrated Kirk’s murder on their social media are being fired from their jobs (00:25) Audio: Scott Jennings on backlash against anti-CK rhetoric (03:24) Terry (email) - I don’t understand why you so wholeheartedly supported Charlie Kirk. I’ve watched several of his debates, and to me, he comes across as self-righteous, confrontational and condescending, not very Christ-like. (05:47) Miss Williams - I do agree with you about most of the things you say. I'm not a republican or democrat. Charlie Kirk's views are his views. What happened to him is sad because it happened to him in front of his family. I think of the Kennedy assassination. We need to do something about guns. Where was his security? We Americans need to do better. (11:15) Audio: Charlie Kirk Didn't Even Believe In Race (25:29) Anthony - Want to thank Patrick for what he does best. I've been listening for years. Such good values and such an awesome person. (30:30) Don - A lot of people who didn't like Charlie Kirk didn't like him because he liked Trump. (31:53) James (email) - H.G. Wells had a poignant message in his book. When the man Griffin loses his body (becomes invisible) he loses his conscience and becomes a sociopath-murderer. So, with Social Media, when we lose our face-to-face interactions, we are being trained to be sociopathic. The smartphone has magnified these interactions and put them in our pocket, and they are displacing actual human interaction. (36:26) Dee Dee - Concerning the murder of Charlie Kirk: I just wanted to bring the fact that as Catholics, we should be an example of how to behave. (40:20) Heidi - I hope this troubled young man gets life in prison instead of the death penalty. He needs God's mercy. I fear if he's given the death penalty, some will see him as a martyr. (47:44) Mary - When I discussed Charlie Kirk with my sister, she said there are extremists on both sides. (49:29)

Julia Considine Pierce is a children's book author, educator, and advocate for the health and wellness of women and girls. For over twenty years, she has empowered women and girls through individual support and workshops, helping them honor their bodies and inspire their spirits while fostering their spiritual growth and health. Julia has shared her expertise in the public school system, where she taught puberty and sexual health education in addition to teaching health at the local community college. Julia earned a Master of Public Health degree from UNC-Chapel Hill Gillings School of Global Public Health. Her graduate research was a collaboration with the N.C. Department of Public Instruction to determine how the Healthful Living Essential Standards are taught, who teaches them, what resources are used, and what additional support is needed. This qualitative research examined all the health standards, focusing on reproductive health and safety. Her research earned an Impact Award from the UNC Graduate School, which acknowledges research that benefits the people of North Carolina. Additionally, Julia earned a Master of Divinity degree from the University of Sufism. Her MDiv research included interviewing female Sufi teachers from across the globe about the interplay of female reproductive health and spirituality. Her work and research inspired the concept for a book series aimed at supporting girls and women across their lifespans. The first in the series, My Body is Sacred, Tales of Health and Wellness for Little Girls, was published in May 2025. In this episode, Julia and I talk about reproductive health for young people. We discuss tools for building body confidence and self-respect from an early age and how her book fills a critical gap in girls' health education.
