Escape rooms let your family cooperate in new and interesting ways. But do you prefer a physical, in-person escape room, a video game, or a board game experience? 0:00:00 Fact for 418 HTTP code 418: “I’m a teapot” Sponsor Message If you want help planning for your kid’s college education, set up a time for a free 15-minute call by going to firstmovefinancial.com/familygamers. 0:05:00 What We’ve Been Playing Embers (our review)Lands of AmazementAspensVerdant Arizona 0:12:50 The Family Gamers Community We’re so happy to welcome new members! Very cool but can feel high pressure. They’re great to do in a group, letting everybody work on different things. Doing it as a family is expensive! Video games are a much cheaper way to capture this style really well: Portal, The Room, Escape Academy Board Game “Escape Rooms” These range in size and playtime. Some are more puzzley, some are more narrative-driven. But any of them can be a great family experience. And we have reviewed a bunch of them – we’ll talk about six series here: EXIT series – Fairly immersive, with a plot and setting that hangs together. Everything you need is in the box. Wide variety of puzzles to write on, manipulate, cut, etc. But comes with a downside – that wide variety means you almost always run into a puzzle in the game that is not figure-out-able (for us). They come in a huge range of difficulty, including several that are appropriate to do with younger kids who are just barely reading. Unlike the other games in this list, we think they’re best with more than 2 players. There are also EXIT Kids games now! (Check out the EXIT games we’ve reviewed.) Unlock series – These require an app. Other than the app, completely card-based and re-settable to pass on to a friend to try. These also have a juvenile line now – Unlock Kids. Our experience has been really uneven. Some really great (Wizard of Oz, Star Wars). Others are just really weird, with puzzles don’t make sense. We generally recommend these, but use caution. Holiday Hijinks – probably our favorite compact escape-room type game. Packs a ton of puzzles into 18 cards and a web app. Full of puns, trivia, and holiday cultural references. Still best for very small groups, since there’s such a small space to work in. Family friendly, although younger kids will probably be frustrated that they don’t have the trivia knowledge to contribute unless they’re very knowledgeable about the holiday. (Check out our reviews and interviews about Holiday Hijinks.) Deckscape – feels like a “choose your own adventure” narrative. Mostly a deck of cards, but with a few accessories that made it more immersive. Puzzles could not be attempted more than once, which made the choices feel high-stakes. Best with 2-3 players, because you’re only looking at a few cards at a time – unless you’re willing to take your time and pass them around the table. (We reviewed Deckscape: The Mystery of El Dorado.) Backstories – not really an escape room, more of a narrative adventure. Work through decisions one at a time as a group. But not only re-settable, it’s replayable, with branching paths and different endings depending on the decisions made! Not exactly family-friendly. Lots of violence and some death. (Check out our Backstories reviews.) Star Trek: Cryptic – as Trek fans we really loved this one. Work through three different “chapters” in a Starfleet officer’s life, with very thematic puzzles. Pretty much re-settable, but you’ll get great value out of this one even if you only play it once – it takes 3-4 hours to do the whole thing, split into several sessions. Coded Chronicles (we reviewed Scooby Doo & The Goonies games) – also very narrative driven. But spreads out the responsibility to progress the narrative to all the players! There are multiple books to read in different character “voices”, even though the team is making decisions together. Also re-settable. Very family-friendly, even for kids who are unfamiliar with Scooby Doo or The Goonies. 0:42:00 New Backtalk Question Have you ever done an in-person escape room? If so, what did you think of it? Está NO AR o 103º podcast VOZ OFF!
See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Interview with Philippe Cloutier, CEO, Cartier ResourcesOur previous interview: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/posts/cartier-resources-tsxvecr-market-economics-fuel-250000m-drilling-campaign-9002Recording date: 1st of March 2026Cartier Resources (TSXV: ECR) has emerged as a unique investment opportunity in Quebec's Abitibi Greenstone belt, positioned as the only remaining independent junior explorer in the 50-kilometer corridor between Val-d'Or and Malartic. The company finds itself surrounded by major producers—Agnico Eagle, Wesdome, El Dorado, and Fresnillo—whose combined market capitalization of $200 billion dwarfs Cartier's $130 million valuation.CEO Philippe Cloutier outlined a disciplined exploration strategy that prioritizes building per-share value over responding to retail investor pressure for aggressive drilling expansion. The company is systematically evaluating 10 targets representing four mineralization types along a single fault corridor, leveraging over 100,000 meters of historical drilling data from 600+ diamond drill holes spanning 15 kilometers. Rather than prospecting randomly, Cartier is developing a comprehensive camp-scale geological model by reassessing 80 years of historical discoveries around a past-producing gold mine.Cartier's 2026 program includes continuous drilling with two rigs, metallurgical testing integration, an updated resource estimate, and a refreshed preliminary economic assessment using current gold prices rather than the $1,750 assumption from the 2023 study. The company is evaluating multiple development pathways including toll milling, proprietary mill construction, bulk sampling, and direct shipping ore scenarios, with the Portal target's proximity to infrastructure offering near-term monetization potential.Significantly, senior producers are already reviewing Cartier's data room, seeking assets with 20-30 year mine lives. Recent M&A consolidation—including Fresnillo's acquisition of Probe Gold and IAMGold's purchase of Northern Superior—demonstrates the thinning pool of quality Canadian junior assets. The company has recently acquired ground enabling exploration of Canadian Malartic-type mineralization similar to discoveries that led to Agnico Eagle's Odyssey program. With 85% of budget directed to ground-based exploration and expanded marketing efforts in Europe and Asia, Cartier maintains strategic focus on controllable factors while positioning for potential acquisition by neighboring majors seeking to extend mine life in this proven tier-one jurisdiction.Learn more: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/companies/cartier-resources-incSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com

Sam’s Place: The Tale of a Small Town Cafe by Randy L. Quinn https://www.amazon.com/Sams-Place-Tale-Small-Town/dp/B0DZC78VMM Sam's Place tells the story of a small-town restaurant and its owner, Sam Davenport. We are invited into the lives of the people who live in Elkader, people who occupy roles familiar to anyone who has lived in a small town. The story is about the restaurant, and how the people who frequent it care for each other over several decades, serving as a model for the best life possible in every American community. About the Author Randy L. Quinn currently lives in El Dorado, Kansas, a much larger town than the setting for his most recent book, Elkader, Iowa. After serving as the pastor of several small-town United Methodist churches, he and his wife Ronda chose to live in El Dorado largely because it had a small-town feel. Randy grew up in military towns along the coast, following his father's assignments in the US Navy. He graduated from high school in Oak Harbor, Washington, and earned his first degree at the University of Washington in Seattle. Having lived in several small towns, Quinn began to recognize common traits among them, almost as if the same people lived in each town but with different names. While he did not grow up in a small town, he learned to appreciate the values learned in these communities and the powerful pull they have to draw people back after they leave. When he retired, Quinn began writing for his personal enjoyment. Aside from writing, he follows the lives of his four children, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren while keeping an active role in his church and community.

The house wasn't boarded up. It wasn't ruined. It was just… waiting.A friend still had the key, and the story that came with it: a ghost named Elsie, quiet until she wasn't. So a group of kids in El Dorado decided to do what kids do—go inside and see if anything happens. The moment they stepped through the entryway, the place felt wrong in a way no one wanted to admit out loud. The kitchen sat in total darkness, and one person couldn't shake the feeling that someone was standing there, staring straight back at them. They tried to laugh it off. They moved upstairs. A door slammed—easy to explain, they told themselves. A cord, a draft, nerves. So they went back downstairs, convinced it was all nothing.Until the insult. Then the house answered—fast—like something had been waiting for permission to stop pretending.#RealGhostStoriesOnline #Hauntings #HauntedHouse #ParanormalPodcast #GhostStory #UrbanLegend #Haunting #PoltergeistActivity #DontProvoke #UnexplainedLove real ghost stories?
