In this enlightening episode of What Are You Made Of?, Mike “C-Roc” sits down with nutritional therapy practitioner and metabolic health expert Danielle Hamilton for a deep dive into the powerful relationship between nature and human biology. Danielle shares her personal journey of overcoming chronic health issues—from acne and PCOS to hormonal imbalances—through a radical shift in how she viewed health. After discovering that blood sugar was at the core of many of her symptoms, she began to explore beyond food, eventually uncovering the critical roles that sunlight, circadian rhythms, grounding, and environmental cues play in overall wellness. She explains how modern life—constant exposure to artificial light, EMFs, and seasonal disconnect in our diets—creates a quantum-level chaos in our bodies that disrupts hormonal balance and metabolic function. From the healing power of infrared light to the importance of grounding and honoring nature's cycles, Danielle unpacks a revolutionary perspective on health that challenges conventional wisdom and calls us to remember that we are nature. This conversation will have you questioning everything from your dinner timing to your light bulbs—and leave you empowered to realign your body with the rhythms of the natural world.Website-daniellehamiltonhealth.com https://www.instagram.com/daniellehamiltonhealth/?hl=en

Did you know that stopping GLP-1 medications like Ozempic or Wegovy can trigger powerful biological and emotional changes that impact your weight journey? In this episode, I talk about what happens when you stop taking a GLP-1 medication, like Ozempic, Wegovy, or Zepbound. I explain how these medications work by slowing stomach emptying, reducing appetite, and helping with insulin regulation, which supports weight loss and benefits conditions like type 2 diabetes and PCOS. However, I also share that they're not magic pills, you still need healthy habits like eating well and exercising. I highlight possible side effects, such as nausea or pancreatitis risks, and emphasize that stopping these medications can lead to increased hunger, cravings, weight regain, and even emotional distress. But I also reassure you that this isn't a sign of failure. Weight regain is often biological, not personal. I offer tips for tapering off safely, reinforcing lifestyle habits, and exploring other options. Most importantly, I remind you that your journey is valid, you're not alone, and lasting success requires a plan, support, and self-compassion. Tune in to learn what really happens when you stop taking GLP-1 medications—and how to stay empowered and in control of your weight journey. Episode Highlights: How GLP-1 medications like Ozempic and Wegovy work Common side effects and safety considerations What to expect when stopping GLP-1s, both physically and emotionally Strategies to manage weight regain and maintain healthy habits Alternative tools and support options beyond medication Connect with Dr. Alicia Shelly: Website | drshellymd.com Facebook | www.facebook.com/drshellymd Instagram | @drshellymd Linked In | www.linkedin.com/in/drshellymd Twitter | @drshellymd About Dr. Alicia Shelly Dr. Alicia Shelly was raised in Atlanta, GA. In this episode of the PCOS Repair Podcast, you'll discover why it's not only possible, but highly likely, that you have more than one root cause contributing to your PCOS symptoms. From insulin resistance to chronic inflammation, stress response, and hormone and nutrient disruption, PCOS rarely stems from just one issue. This episode walks you through how to identify your dominant root cause while acknowledging that other contributing factors may also be playing a role. Why Identifying a Primary Root Causes MattersAlthough most women with PCOS have overlapping root causes, identifying your primary one helps guide your efforts more effectively. Within this episode, you'll learn how focusing your energy on the most active root cause can give you the biggest results, rather than spreading yourself thin by trying to fix everything at once. You'll also hear examples of how insulin-related symptoms can overshadow others, making it essential to focus where you'll see the most progress.Navigating Combinations of Root CausesWhen quiz results or symptoms point to more than one dominant root cause, it can be confusing to know where to start. In this episode, you'll learn how to prioritize your primary root cause without ignoring the others. The discussion includes how overlapping causes, like insulin imbalance paired with stress, require a strategic approach, and how addressing one often leads to improvement in others as well. You'll also discover how to pair your PCOS root cause(s) with your primary health goals, whether it's weight loss, fertility, more energy, or better cycles. This episode guides you through the process of designing a personalized strategy based on your root cause assessment, your most pressing symptoms, and your lifestyle. You'll hear how even small, consistent changes can help your body start healing and create momentum over time. You can take the quiz to discover your root cause hereLet's continue the conversation on Instagram! "Your periods shouldn't be unbearably painful. Most women in their 50s will experience dryness. Muscle mass matters more than being thin." These are just some of the straightforward truths nurse midwife Claire McStacy shares in this comprehensive conversation about women's health through the decades. From establishing care in your twenties to navigating the changes of menopause, this episode cuts through the noise of trending TikTok videos to deliver practical guidance on what's actually happening in your body and what you can do about it. McStacy brings 23 years of experience to address questions many women have but don't know who to ask: When should cervical cancer screening begin? (Age 21.) What does perimenopause actually feel like? (Brain fog, irregular periods, and possibly up to ten years of symptoms.) How do hormones affect your heart health after menopause? (Significantly, women lose estrogen's protective effects, making heart attack risk similar to men's, though symptoms present differently.)The conversation tackles critical but often overlooked topics, including PCOS (affecting 8% of women), the importance of preconception health, managing fibroids (particularly common among African American women) and the benefits and risks of hormone replacement therapy. Throughout, McStacy emphasizes the importance of establishing and maintaining a relationship with your healthcare provider for personalized guidance.Perhaps most powerfully, this episode challenges listeners to prioritize self-care at every stage of life. As McStacy notes, "When you have time for yourself, you have time for everybody else." Whether you're concerned about fertility in your twenties, managing work-life balance in your thirties, noticing perimenopausal symptoms in your forties or navigating post-menopausal changes in your fifties, this comprehensive guide helps you understand what's normal, when to seek help and how to advocate for your health. For more content from Centra Health check us out on the following channels.YouTubeFacebookInstagramTwitter
Dr. Ashley Dwyer (@dr.dwyer) is a doctor of pharmacology and founder of Team BDN Coaching. Through 10 years in pharmacy Ashley noted that so many illnesses have significant lifestyle related factors - something which medication cannot fix. She since transitioned into health coaching to help others tackle everything under the umbrella of living a healthy lifestyle to help people thrive and prevent or alleviate disease and illness. The amount of people who are living with PCOS currently is extremely high. Dr. Dwyer graciously came to the podcast to educate us on it. The good news is that it is much more within your control than you've likely been led to believe. I say this, because I myself didn't know a ton about it, and the general rhetoric out there is that it's just a thing that happens. Turns out, you can do a lot to help it, even put it into remission entirely largely through healthy living changes. This is empowering, because now you're not doomed. Dr. Dwyer goes into so much depth about the different types of PCOS, how they are caused, how you might go about treating them or what specific steps to take to start to improve your situation. The information she shares here is so in depth, concise and helpful - it can easily change someone's life. Whether you're managing PCOS, gut health, or simply trying to feel more energized and in tune with your body, this conversation will give you tangible tools to stay consistent and present. In today's episode I'm diving deep into one of the most debated questions of PCOS and fertility - should you be eating a low-carb diet when preparing for pregnancy with PCOS? If you've ever wondered why blood sugar seems to fluctuate more when you have PCOS, or why so many experts talk about insulin resistance and its impact on your fertility journey, you're in the right place. In this episode, I break down the science behind why PCOS makes you more susceptible to insulin resistance and what that actually means for your body and your hormones. I'll explore why blood sugar swings are more common with PCOS, how those ups and downs can affect ovulation and egg quality, and—most importantly—what you can do about it with your food choices. But here's where it gets really interesting. While low-carb and keto diets are often promoted as the “fix” for PCOS, the truth is much more nuanced. I'll share why these diets can sometimes backfire, especially when you're trying to conceive, and what you need to know to truly support your fertility and hormone health for the long term. Story at-a-glance Most ovarian cysts are harmless and disappear naturally, but some cause severe complications like rupture or twisting the ovary, requiring emergency surgery Vegetable oils like canola and sunflower act as fake estrogens, damaging ovarian tissue and fueling cyst formation due to linoleic acid content PCOS drives recurring cysts through hormonal chaos, particularly insulin resistance and elevated estrogen that disrupts normal ovarian function and cycles Natural pain relief includes heat therapy, massage and gentle movement, while chamomile and ginger teas help reduce inflammation and balance hormones Prevention focuses on eliminating vegetable oils, addressing insulin resistance and considering natural progesterone to restore hormonal balance and stop cyst recurrence

“Your ovulation is your fifth vital sign. Ignoring it is like ignoring your breath.” Topics Discussed The hidden risks of long-term birth control use PCOS, ovarian cysts, and natural healing Fertility timelines and age myths The emotional cost of control on the fertility journey Hormone-disrupting chemicals and modern lifestyle traps Emotional load, overwork, and reproductive stress Creating space and safety for the baby to arrive Why slowing down is sometimes the real medicine “Your body isn't broken. It's brilliant. And it's begging you to slow down and listen.” Hello Beautiful Souls, Monica here... If you've ever walked out of a doctor's office with more confusion than clarity and a birth control script you didn't ask for, this episode is going to hit home. I'm talking with the incredible Jenna Longoria—aka the Period Guru—who's lived the nightmare of being dismissed, medicated, and nearly losing an ovary on her honeymoon. Yep. You read that right. We unpack how years of fake hormones can shut down your body and your intuition, how the post-pill rollercoaster almost took Jenna out, and why timelines are straight-up illusions that fuel fertility burnout. We also go there with the truth about PCOS, secondary infertility, and why sometimes your baby hasn't arrived yet… because your body is asking you to come home to it first. Jenna and I crack open a raw, honest conversation about the toxic pressure to do more, be more, push harder... and the quiet truth your body's been whispering all along. We talk about the deep conditioning that keeps women sprinting through burnout while TTC and the illusion of control IVF sometimes offers. This isn't a blame game, it's a wake-up call. Because if you're trying to create life from a body that's running on empty, something's got to give. We get radically real about redefining success, softening the grip, and why sometimes creating space (literally and emotionally) is the most fertile thing you can do. It's not about giving up your dreams. It's about remembering that you're already worthy — before the baby, before the timeline, before all the boxes get checked. Press play if you're ready to trade hustle for healing and make space for a miracle. “The answer to our fertility crisis isn't more IVF. It's more rest, more presence, more truth.” Timestamps [01:17] Jenna shares her story of painful periods, PCOS, the birth control pill, and her healing journey. [04:37] How disconnection from your natural cycle silences your intuition. [07:45] Age, fear, the myth of the fertility cliff, and why control and timelines are sabotaging your fertility. [13:10] How modern life and everyday chemicals disrupt our hormones and fertility. [16:34] The hard truth about overdoing, overworking, and the disconnect from your essence. [19:00] Understanding why connection and presence matter more than performance. [22:30] How to get radically honest with yourself and create space your future baby can feel. In this episode, Dr. Aimee goes live to answer your fertility questions, covering topics like DNA fragmentation, thyroid health, PCOS, embryo transfer timing, and more. She's joined by Paula the Producer and takes additional questions from viewers tuning in live! Here are the listener-submitted questions featured in this episode: 1. Sarah (39) from Maryland wrote in to ask: After four early pregnancy losses from unassisted conceptions, and now with four frozen euploid embryos, could DNA fragmentation still be a factor in causing miscarriage? 2. Stephanie (41) from California is wondering: Her doctor suggested doing a second egg retrieval and a frozen embryo transfer in the same week, using an embryo from the first retrieval. Is this really possible, and what are the pros and cons of doing both in one cycle? 3. Alex (38) from England asks Dr. Aimee: With a frozen embryo transfer coming up, does she really need to stop her favorite high-intensity workouts like Hyrox and Barry's Bootcamp? 4. Rebecca (37) from the United Kingdom is asking: After her TSH spiked unexpectedly to 27, can she still proceed with egg retrieval and freeze any good-quality embryos now, even if she needs to delay the transfer until her thyroid is back in range? 5. Lindsay (33) from Rhode Island wrote to ask: With a high antral follicle count but low mature egg yield, what else can she do (beyond lifestyle changes and supplements) to improve egg maturity during IVF? 6. Fab (37) from Australia wonders: After years of endometriosis, multiple surgeries, and one failed IVF cycle with no successful transfers, what can she do differently or consider for her upcoming round? 7. Elise (38) from Oregon wrote in with this question: She experienced intense pregnancy-like symptoms, like breast soreness, cramps, and dizziness, during failed transfers and unmedicated cycles. Is it possible for an embryo to cause these symptoms without actually implanting?

Fertility Docs Uncensored is hosted by Dr. Carrie Bedient from the Fertility Center of Las Vegas, Dr. Susan Hudson from Texas Fertility Center, and Dr. Abby Eblen from Nashville Fertility Center. In this episode of Fertility Docs Uncensored, the doctors tackle your most pressing questions about polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Many PCOS patients have high AMH levels, and often that means more eggs at retrieval. However, sometimes a high egg count doesn't always translate into more embryos or more to transfer, and the Docs explain why quantity doesn't always equal quality. They also dive into IUI cycles for PCOS patients, including the advantages of combining IUI with ovulation induction. The team recommends limiting ovulation induction + IUI attempts to no more than three or four before considering other options. For those with a history of miscarriage, they emphasize the importance of a thorough recurrent pregnancy loss workup, regardless of PCOS status. Should you move to IVF sooner? The docs explore that too—especially for those wanting multiple children, facing recurrent miscarriage, or when male factor issues are in play. The episode wraps with a discussion of medications like metformin and inositols, and when to consider laparoscopy—typically reserved for symptoms like painful periods or signs of endometriosis. This podcast was sponsored by ReceptivaDx.

Guest: Danny Ross, Jr., UFCW Local 152 President Host: Dan Bulger, Progyny Danny and Elizabeth Ross got married at 26, excited to start their lives together and hopeful about growing a family. When they started trying, they were met with a series of challenges that changed everything. Elizabeth was diagnosed with endometriosis and PCOS. Danny had male factor infertility. After a year of trying to conceive, they were told their best option was IVF. At the time, they had no fertility coverage. They started with IUI. One attempt turned into two, then six, then thirteen. They tore through their savings. Elizabeth suffered an ectopic pregnancy that led to the removal of one of her fallopian tubes. They had hit a wall. IVF was their next and only option. On their third round of IVF, their first daughter was finally born, and they welcomed their second, a few years later. Through it all, Danny and Elizabeth remained each other's rocks: husband, wife, and best friends. Today, Danny is the president of UFCW Local 152, where he oversees the benefits for thousands of union members. When the opportunity arose to improve those benefits, his mind immediately went to fertility. Could they offer fertility coverage to union families so others wouldn't have to go through what he did? After an exhaustive search, they decided to partner with Progyny, a labor-friendly benefit with experience supporting union members. For Danny, what stood out most were the Progyny Care Advocates and Smart Cycle plan design. It was everything they never had: guidance, clarity, and a path to better outcomes. Tune into this episode as Danny reflects on the impact of adding fertility coverage to his union's benefits and the importance of leaving things better than he found them. Kristin Charbo is the Co-Founder and CEO of Glonuts, the better-for-you donut brand redefining indulgence with clean ingredients and low sugar. But her journey didn't start in food or even in business. Kristin spent over 15 years in luxury hospitality, opening hotels for brands like Mandarin Oriental and PUBLIC in New York. It wasn't until a PCOS diagnosis in her early 20s that she was forced to rethink her relationship with food, wellness, and ultimately, her career. That health wake-up call eventually sparked the idea for a nostalgic, blood-sugar-friendly treat she wished existed. What started as a “healthy donut thing” from a coffee cart quickly took on a life of its own, leading Kristin and her partner Grover to deliver over 100,000 donuts from their one-bedroom apartment and even use their wedding money to rebrand the business. Today, Glonuts is one of the most exciting brands in wellness snacking, stocked everywhere from Erewhon to H-E-B markets and other retailers all across the US.In this episode, Kristin gets real about what it actually takes to build something from nothing—when you don't have a blueprint, just a product people love and the grit to figure it out. She opens up about the mental rollercoaster of entrepreneurship, the scrappy early days of hand-delivering donuts, and the power of iterating on feedback. We talk about the challenges of fundraising as a female founder, how she built a network of powerhouse women who now double as investors and advisors, and why personal growth is just as critical as business growth.
