We live in an age when the meaning and purpose of life are often less clear than ever before. An age when we're asking questions of doctors we should be asking priests - but few priests seem able to provide meaningful answers to today's spiritual seekers. Enter Viktor Frankl. Frankl was a Jewish psychiatrist whose pioneering work known as Logotherapy has helped millions of suffering men and women begin asking the right questions of life and finding answers that satisfy their souls. In this series, we've explored Frankl's book The Doctor and the Soul. Fr. There are massive changes occurring in education – and most of those changes are being driven by parents and educators, not politicians or bureaucratic school districts. As former educators and school administrators, Christina and Eric Threeton realized there was a better way to approach education than what was being done by large institutionalized public-school systems. And so, a couple of years ago, they began the journey of opening their own micro-school in Las Vegas, The Nevada School of Inquiry. They joined the program to talk about the challenges facing educational innovators and how important it is for there to be a marketplace where passionate people can pursue new ways of approaching education.

Deborah Malters, MD and Belinda Hartley, MD.  She is currently the Medical Director of YBGR’s residential campus and community-based services. Dr. Amato has double board certification in General Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.   Dr. Amato is passionate about finding cutting-edge, innovative ways to prevent and treat mental health disorders that have not responded to traditional interventions.  She received training in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and other non-invasive brain modulation techniques at the Brain Stimulation Laboratory of Medical University of South Carolina and has been providing TMS to patients in the region since 2015.  She has been providing IV ketamine therapy for treatment of depression and other mental health conditions since April 2016.  She is an integrative psychiatrist who looks to blend traditional treatment tools, like medication and talk therapy, with specialized integrative medicine testing, genetics, nutritional supplementation, and lifestyle education and interventions to design personalized treatment approaches that target the root causes of illness.  She is certified as a health care provider for FirstLine Therapy® through Metagenics and is participating in the Advanced Fellowship in Anti-Aging, Metabolic and Functional Medicine through the Metabolic Medical Institute of A4M.   Dr. Amato believes that early intervention is critical when people are affected by emotional, behavioral, cognitive and learning disorders.  Mental health should be looked at in the context of an integrated mind-body approach.  Especially in cases of children and adolescents, early diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric disorders is essential in promoting healthy development.

Welcome to this first episode of the new podcasts series: The Dr Jeffrey Roth's Looking Good, Feeling Great Podcast and his co-host, Darrell Craig Harris.   Who is Dr Jeffrey Roth? Born in Los Angeles, Dr Jeffrey Roth moved to Las Vegas in 1977 and fell in love with what was, then, a sleepy little town. He remembers riding his bike to his local 7-11, which still had a fence post outside for customers' horses. Talk about a different time! Although he headed east to Brandeis University for college, his dream was to always come home, and somehow make an impact on the people of Las Vegas. Drawn to medicine by his innate desire to help others, he received his medical degree from the University of Nevada School of Medicine, and completed his general surgery residency at the Medical College of Pennsylvania/Hahnemann University in Philadelphia and his plastic surgery residency at the University of California, San Francisco, serving as chief resident in both programs. He then furthered his training with a fellowship in microsurgery and hand surgery at USC where he also served on the faculty. Having finally gathered the kind of expertise that makes him a leader in his field, Dr Roth returned to Las Vegas in 2003 and opened his own practice, Las Vegas Plastic Surgery, Inc. One of the things that Dr Roth loves most about his hometown is that anything is possible, whether it be Formula 1 racing in the backyard of Caesar's Palace or an ice skating rink in the middle of the desert. Bottom line: if you can dream it, you can do it. This is also what he loves about plastic surgery. It is constantly reinventing itself with new procedures, innovative techniques, and new technologies.  Board-certified by the American Society of Plastic Surgery, the American Board of Surgery, and the National Board of Medical Examiners, Dr Roth believes in offering his patients the full spectrum of aesthetic procedures from the latest in neck rejuvenation, to cutting edge skincare, to the full range of breast implant options. His goal is to help provide you with every opportunity for achieving your best self. Married to a fellow hometown girl, Dr Roth is the proud father to a beautiful little girl, who is the apple of her Daddy's eye. When not busy catching up on the latest Disney flick, you can find him at the gym, trying to stay in shape, or working with the Clark County Medical Society, continuing his dream of making a difference.   Who is this co-host Guy - Darrell Craig Harris? Well - He has a professional tool bag of credentials as well. Also a native of Las Vegas, Darrell is constantly in demand as a musician and has worked with many A-list artists/actors/celebrities, and spent time as a resident musician with Cirque du Soleil in Japan. Darrell has always loved still photography and video and he's turned this passion into being a credited photographer for both Canon and as an official  Getty Photographer. He is a senior writer for the world-renowned JazzInEurope.com online and quarterly print magazine. Darrell hosts the highly successful podcast show: Music Matters with Darrell Craig Harris - the list could go on, so to wrap this up. When you have as much passion for life and its opportunities, as Darrell Craig Harris and Dr Jeffrey Roth - It's not surprising they have a strong connection.  Well, that's it for episode 01. Episode 02 will be published sometime next week. See You Next Time... Do you or someone you know have Type II Diabetes or is at risk? The symptoms of diabetes can be very mild. .In fact, of the 29 million people in the U.S. who have diabetes, 8 million are undiagnosed, according to the American Diabetes Association. Diabetes is a problem with your body that causes blood glucose (sugar) levels to rise higher than normal. This is also called hyperglycemia. Type 2 diabetes is the most common form of diabetes. If you have Type II Diabetes your body does not use insulin properly. This is called insulin resistance. At first, your pancreas makes extra insulin to make up for it. But, over time it isn't able to keep up and can't make enough insulin to keep your blood glucose at normal levels. Kent C. Sasse, M.D., MPH, FACS, FACRS has a solution that is has a 90% success rate of reversing Type II Diabetes. In this episode Dr. Sasse answers these questions and so much more: How is being overweight or obese related to type 2 diabetes? What are the 5 most important steps you should take if you receive a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes? What is new in the treatment of type 2 diabetes? How have the guidelines of the American Diabetes Association changed so significantly to recommend surgery? What are the surgical procedures that completely reverse diabetes? What are the risks, recovery time, and things everyone should know about metabolic surgery to treat and reverse type 2 diabetes? What are the risks of heart attack with type 2 diabetes on traditional medical therapy and how much is that risk lowered by a person having metabolic surgery? What does metabolic surgery - and the fact that it completely reverses type 2 diabetes in most people - tell us about how type 2 diabetes occurs? Dr. Sasse is the lead surgeon at Sasse Surgical Associates in Reno, NV and the director of the Obesity Prevention Foundation, an not-for-profit organization he founded in 2006 dedicated to the prevention of obesity and excessive weight gain in children and adolescents. Dr. Sasse is a speaker and mentor to surgeons nationwide and hosts cadaver courses on surgical topics including complex abdominal wall reconstruction at the University of Nevada School of Medicine for visiting surgeons. He is the author of numerous peer-reviewed research articles recent papers discussing sleeve gastrectomy, laparoscopic rectopexy, gastric physiology, endoscopic techniques for gastric repairs, and minimally invasive hernia repair.
