Wendy Valentine — author of Women Waking Up: The Midlife Manifesto for Passion, Purpose, and Play and host of the Midlife Makeover Show — joins Heather for a raw, wide-ranging conversation about rebuilding a life from the ground up. At 45, Wendy hit a full-on midlife meltdown: divorce, job loss, over $150K in debt, an empty nest, chronic illness, and the deaths of her dog, cat, and brother — all within weeks of each other. Instead of staying stuck, she chased a long-held dream of RVing across the country and completely reconstructed her life within two years. In this episode, Wendy and Heather dig into what it really means to "lean into your destiny," why midlife often feels less like a crisis and more like a coma we need to wake up from, how to grieve fully instead of stuffing it down, the "lotus effect" and being in the mud without being of it, and how to become your own best friend by rewiring the stories running through your head. It's a conversation about permission — to feel, to grieve, to change, and to finally show up for yourself. It's Tuesday, August 25th, A.D. 2026. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Kevin Swanson and Timothy Reed Indonesian pastor sentenced for citing Mohammed's polygamy An Indonesian pastor has been sentenced to two years in prison for pointing out Mohammad's polygamy. At the time of his death, the founder of Islam had nine wives. Dedi Saputra was falsely accused of “hostility, hatred or incitement” with a “potential of causing unrest.” Like Dedi, the Apostle Paul ran into troubles along the way as well. In Acts 17:4-5, Luke writes, “And some of them [in Thessalonica] were persuaded; and a great multitude of the devout Greeks, and not a few of the leading women, joined Paul and Silas. “But the Jews who were not persuaded, becoming envious, took some of the evil men from the marketplace, and gathering a mob, set all the city in an uproar.” Surrogate mother speaks up for choosing life Baby Gabriel, the child in the middle of a massive rent-a-womb controversy, has survived his first heart surgery since being born two weeks ago. The child's surrogate mother, McKenna West, refused to abort him despite being sued by his biological parents, Nausheen Gilkar and Omar Ahmed. However, Baby Gabriel is now in the custody of the very parents who sought to have him killed! In the New York Post, Miss West wrote, “No woman should be forced to kill the baby inside her. Most importantly, every child deserves a chance to live. As a cardiac nurse, I knew this little one had a great shot at survival if given the opportunity to receive the necessary treatment. “After I communicated to the contracting couple that I could not end this baby's life, their lawyer, and my own former lawyer, sent me letters threatening six-figure penalties if I didn't comply with their demand to terminate. The contracting couple cut off my payments, and I covered the rest of the pregnancy expenses myself.” Here's what Miss West told Lila Rose in the Live Action podcast. WEST: “A diagnosis does not automatically mean that there is no hope or that somebody cannot live. But I knew that this baby boy that I was carrying, that I was feeling move, that he deserved that chance.” Listen to this word for our day from Exodus 22:22-24. “You shall not afflict any widow or fatherless child. If you afflict them in any way, and they cry at all to Me, I will surely hear their cry; and My wrath will become hot, and I will kill you with the sword; your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.” America and Canada at a stalemate in trade war The United States and Canada are in another trade war. The White House has announced that the U.S. will impose 50% tariffs on certain Canadian products like vehicles and steel imports. And now, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney says Canada will “hit back.” Here's what Carney said in a press conference on Saturday: “You're at war when you're attacked, and we got attacked.” He added this. CARNEY: “We cannot accept what they've offered and we will not give what they've asked.” (Read the transcript of Carney's remarks) Trump added this on Truth Social on Sunday: “Canada wants the benefits of being a State, without being one!!! They have also charged our great farmers, for many years, massive amounts of tariffs. No more!!!” United States to buy back its own bonds to lower inflation U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced that the federal government will be buying back its own bonds in an effort to rein in inflation and reduce the interest on the bonds, reports CNBC. That means that the government will use its $1 trillion checking account -- which happens to be borrowed money to begin with -- to buy its long-term bonds, in an artificial attempt to reduce interest rates. U.S. debt topped $40 trillion The United States federal debt topped $40 trillion last week, reports CBS News. (Check out the eye-opening website www.USDebtClock.org) The market responded. According to Fortune Magazine, gold is back up to $4,650 an ounce and silver is scraping $70 an ounce. Condo prices sinking Condo prices are sinking like a rock in 33 major city markets including in Florida, California, Texas, Colorado, and Washington state. Wolf Street estimates a 29% average drop since the 2022 peak. Add inflation into that and that's a 38% drop in condominium prices. Condo prices can signal housing stress before the rest of the market collapses. Divorce rate up for those over 55 U.S. divorce rates are way up for people older than 55 years of age. In fact, they've doubled since 1990. And, among those over 65, the divorce rate has increase five-fold since 1990. A recent Bowling Green University study found that the 50+ crowd now accounts for nearly 40% of all people getting divorced. That was only 8% in 1990. 2032 is Social security depletion date The Social Security depletion date has moved up another three months, now targeted for 2032. The ratio of workers paying into Social Security per retiree has plummeted from more than 5-to-1 in 1960 to 2.9-to-1 today. Mel Gibson to release Resurrection movies in 2027 Film producer and director Mel Gibson is wrapping up a 10-year project — a production of the sequel for The Passion of the Christ. The project is slated to be released as a two-part series on the Resurrection sometime in March and May next year — Good Friday and Ascension Day on the Christian calendar. The films were shot in Rome. Spiderman: Brand New Day misuses God's name 16 times And finally, the blockbuster film, Spiderman: Brand New Day, is #1 at the box office for its fourth week -- now at $2.2 billion worldwide. That's a record for the franchise. But Focus on the Family's PluggedIn.com and Ted Baehr's MovieGuide.org both warn of foul language, the single most concerning drawback for families. God's name and Jesus' name are misused a total of 16 times in the movie. Exodus 20:7 says, “You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses His name.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Tuesday, August 25th, in the year of our Lord 2026. Growing up, Beth Moore was taught that 1 Timothy 2 and 1 Corinthians 14 were the whole of what scripture had to say about women: submissive and silent. The founder of Living Proof Ministries and one of the most widely read Bible teachers in America, Moore objects to a hermeneutic limited to those passages. In this episode, Mark Labberton revisits his 2018 conversation with Beth Moore, recorded in the months following her viral open letter, "A Letter to My Brothers." Almost 10 years later, debates over women in leadership and whether women are free to use their full gifts in the full service of the church still roil American Christianity. This episode is an invitation to hear Moore's unique journey—discovering what it means to receive women as teachers and instructors of scripture for the building up of the church—and about the faithfulness of God to one woman's story, as she tries simply to be heard. They discuss the cost of speaking up in 2018 and the backlash that came hardest from women, her decision to repent of her own complicity, the way gender gets used abusively in every part of the church, and what it looks like to keep going with Jesus when the way ahead is cloudy. Episode Highlights "I very much am a big believer in the harbor of the church, that when it functions well … it's such a safe place for me. It was safer than my home, Mark." "Where I have been part of this and complicit in this, I will repent. So here is what I'm fighting for. I am fighting for us, and I don't just mean women. I mean women and men, brothers and sisters." "There is absolutely no world in which I would not have spoken up. … It would've been like expecting a dog not to bark at a burglar." "Where our Christianity … departs Christ-likeness, don't call it Christianity. … So if it is not like Him, it is not of Him." "I may not get it right, but I can no longer lay down to what I know is wrong." About Beth Moore Beth Moore is an evangelist, author, and Bible teacher who founded Living Proof Ministries in Houston in 1994 to teach women the scriptures. Her books and studies, including Breaking Free and So Long, Insecurity, have been translated into more than twenty languages. Her 2018 open letter "A Letter to My Brothers" named the misogyny she had absorbed in conservative evangelical life. She left the Southern Baptist Convention in 2021 and now worships as an Anglican. Her memoir, All My Knotted-Up Life, won the 2024 ECPA Book of the Year. She teaches now on the podcast Living Proof with Beth Moore. In this episode, host Tyler Kamerman catches up with fellow Leadership Iowa alum Kris Byam, Director of Great Oaks High School and Career Center, to challenge the traditional status quo of education. Kris breaks down why K-12 education must be viewed through the lens of workforce development, arguing that essential career habits like communication, collaboration, and self-awareness should start as early as kindergarten. Drawing from a colorful journey that spans playing Herky the Hawk at the University of Iowa to launching innovative alternative education programs, Kris reveals the ultimate secret to student retention and transformation: putting People over Programs every single time. The conversation dives into how hands-on, trauma-informed learning and registered apprenticeships are rewriting the future for "opportunity youth." Kris shares mind-blowing real-world examples, from high school students 3D-printing prosthetic limbs for overseas amputees to building Habitat for Humanity homes, showing what happens when kids discover the "why" behind their education. Packed with wit, wisdom, and encouragement, this episode delivers a loud wake-up call for anyone trying to find their path: stop sitting around waiting for your passion to drop from the sky. Get out there, try new things, serve others, and live life to the fullest! Key Takeaways Prioritize People Over Programs: True transformation happens when you invest directly in relationships and create safe, supportive environments rather than strictly adhering to rigid curricula. Education IS Workforce Development: Foundational career habits—like communication, resilience, and problem-solving—need to be cultivated from kindergarten onward, aligning student growth directly with industry needs. Capitalize on Earn While You Learn: Registered apprenticeships offer a powerful alternative to traditional higher education, boasting retention rates over 95% because individuals feel genuinely valued and invested in. Connect the Why to the Work: Thriving happens when learning is tied to real human impact, whether that's constructing houses or fabricating medical devices for those in need. Action Precedes Passion: You will rarely find your calling by sitting on the sidelines. Passion is uncovered through trial, error, active experience, and stepping out into the world. Art historian and author Liz Lev joins the Son Rise Morning Show on the feast of St. Louis IX, King of France, to explore one of his greatest contributions to Christian art and architecture: Saint-Chapelle in Paris. Liz explains how St. Louis acquired the Crown of Thorns in 1239 and why the chapel was constructed as a magnificent reliquary for the Passion relics. She also explores the profound spirituality behind the project, including Louis' understanding of kingship as service and his desire to create a space that would draw people beyond the ordinary world and into the mystery of salvation. The conversation takes listeners inside Saint-Chapelle's breathtaking stained-glass windows, which tell the story of salvation history from Genesis through the arrival of the Crown of Thorns in Paris. Liz also shares what it is like to walk into the chapel for the first time—and why sometimes the best response to great sacred art is simply wonder.Support the show: https://www.sacredheartradio.com/donate-now/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Attempted-murder accused Vusimuzi "Cat" Matlala has told the Madlanga Commission that he first met businessman Hangwani Maumela around 2015 or 2016 through their shared interest in sports cars. Matlala says they later became friends and pooled money to secure RFQs from the Gauteng Department of Health for medical consumables between 2018 and 2019. He says each would take what he needed, purchase the goods, repay the capital with profit, and share the remaining gains. Matlala says the deals totalled less than five-million rand.

Episode Summary: In this episode of the Work at Home Rockstar Podcast, Tim Melanson chats with Dr. Rob Yonover, founder and CEO of Sea Rescue Corporation, who has worked from home for over 30 years inventing survival gear for military and civilian use. What started as him "screwing around with a piece of plastic" on his patio became the SeeRescueStreamer, a signaling device he says is now military-approved worldwide and has even flown on SpaceX missions. Rob gets candid about what it actually takes to make working from home sustainable: brutal self-discipline, a simple math equation for building a passion project around a day job, and a thick skin built from years of rejection, including five no's on Shark Tank. He walks through the relentless, old-school media hustle that got his product into outlets like the Miami Herald, Outside Magazine, and Playboy, and explains why he still believes trade shows and face-to-face relationships beat digital marketing for building trust. The conversation also covers how a 15-year licensing deal with guaranteed royalties gave him the cash flow to keep inventing, what's exciting him now with a new pocket desalinator project and his published books, and his strong personal views on keeping kids off phones and social media. Who is Dr. Rob Yonover? Dr. Robert Yonover is a Ph.D. geochemist/volcanologist with a history of innovative scientific contributions and technologies that have been awarded U.S. Military/DARPA funding and U.S. Patents. The military-approved/adopted SeeRescueStreamer has saved lives on land and in water. A North Shore big wave surfer and Molokai Channel rough-water fisherman, Dr. Yonover uses the ocean as his laboratory. He's the founder and CEO of Sea Rescue Corporation and has worked from home in Hawaii for over 30 years, describing himself as a third-generation work-at-home entrepreneur following his grandmother, who ran an early medical practice out of her Chicago home, and his father, who built a mail-order business in the 1960s. The SeeRescueStreamer earned Navy approval and has since been adopted across military branches, including the Canadian Air Force. He's also the author of four books, Hardcore Inventing, Caregiver's Survival Guide, Hardcore Health, and Brainstorm Islands, and is currently working on a pocket desalinator that converts saltwater to freshwater. Welcome to Sacred Restorations, a limited series on the SSPX Podcast highlighting the beautiful work being done across the U.S. District. In this episode, we travel to Denver, Colorado, where a new novitiate of the Consoling Sisters is taking root. Fr. Paul Robinson is joined by Mother Maria Rita and Sister Mary Veronica to tell the remarkable story of their congregation, founded in Italy in 1961 by Fr. Basilio Rosati, a Passionist priest devoted to the Passion of Our Lord and the consolation of the Sacred Heart. The Sisters recount their early years of poverty, apostolic work, their perseverance through the crisis in the Church, and the providential path that eventually brought them into contact with Fr. Emmanuel du Chalard and the Society of Saint Pius X. It is a story of fidelity, hidden sacrifice, and the quiet restoration of religious life. Join us for a short series called Overwhelming Grace, where we sit down with friends to hear their stories of encountering God's grace. On this episode, Austin Murray opens up about growing up in Waco, Texas with divorced parents and a chaotic childhood that spiraled into alcohol and drug use as a teenager. He talks about hitting rock bottom on a senior trip, feeling completely empty afterward, and choosing to cut himself off from friends to find his way back to God. Austin shares the story of meeting his future wife, Jordanna, and how one prayer night changed everything for him when He experienced God's grace in such a powerful, tangible way that his desire for addiction and shame broke overnight. He talks through turning down big job offers to stay obedient to ministry, grinding through unglamorous years as a young campus pastor, and more recently, processing the loss of his mother. Austin also breaks down the real difference between grace and tolerating sin, and why that distinction matters for anyone trying to walk in freedom instead of settling for comfort. Episode Summary In this episode, Karl Bryan and Rode Dog are joined by guest Chutes as they dive deep into the realities of business coaching success, the psychology behind high-performing coaches, and practical frameworks for filling live events, recruiting talent, and building a business you could sell tomorrow (even if you never want to). The duo address why most business owners regret selling their businesses, how to break free from nervous system roadblocks, and the myths of retirement and "following your passion." Packed with street-level tactics and high-level mindset shifts, the episode is a must-listen for any coach wanting to elevate their impact—and their income. Key Topics Covered What Separates Struggling vs. Dominant Coaches Karl Bryan explains that action (not just planning) is what divides the mediocre from the masters 03:33. Struggling coaches obsess over lead generation; winners obsess over creating value, up-leveling their operating system, and honing a world-class deliverable 04:09. Why Most Exiting Owners Have Regret Karl Bryan shares the sobering stat: 73% of owners regret selling their businesses 07:27. The myth of the "big payday" vs. reality—a deal often means less cash, complicated earn-outs, and a shell of your former company 09:21. The right way to exit is building a sellable business, headhunting successors, and prioritizing tight contracts with expert legal help 12:01. Recruiting Top Talent in Any Industry For hard-to-hire trades, don't just post an ad—sell a vision, recruit from outside your market, and lead like a college football recruiter 16:01. The secret is to approach hiring as outreach, not just intake 13:16. Mastering Your Nervous System for Ultimate Performance The biggest blocks are psychological, not tactical—if you're stuck, look at your environment, self-connection, and relationships, not just your to-do list 18:29. Build meaningful connections, manage stress through self-awareness, and focus on root causes rather than just treating symptoms 19:43. The Real Meaning of Retirement & Passion Karl Bryan breaks down why "retirement" is often an illusion that leads to boredom, divorce, or addiction 28:14. Instead, shoot for "semi-retired for life"—keep a handful of clients you love and never truly stop delivering value 32:05. Don't chase passion blindly—excel at what you do, fall in love with service and progress, and your business will love you back 36:14. Karl's No-Excuses Blueprint to Filling an Event in Five Days Pick up the phone like your life depends on it, research new/local businesses, and genuinely care about the value you bring 43:34. Build high-energy connections, focus on helping vs. selling, and don't be afraid of rejection 46:05. Notable Quotes "Struggling coaches focus on what they earn. The best focus on what they learn." — Karl Bryan 06:52 "The magic is not in the plan. The magic is in the planning." — Karl Bryan 05:01 "High-end buyers buy on identity. Lower-end buyers buy off utility and desire." — Karl Bryan 05:53 "Healing your nervous system isn't about becoming someone new. It's becoming you again." — Karl Bryan 25:05 "'Do what you love' is overrated. It's 'love what you do' and master the process." — Karl Bryan 38:42 "Progress equals happiness." — Rode Dog, show close 58:30 Actionable Takeaways Focus on Value, Not Leads: Obsession with helping and delivering unmatched results outlasts any marketing hack. — Shift your attention to client outcomes and continuously improve your deliverable. Recruit Boldly: Don't wait for great hires to find you. Go out, tell your company's vision, and proactively sell A-players on joining—no matter the industry. Plan for an Exit You May Never Take: Build your business as if you'll sell, but with the strength and systems that let you walk away or stay for life. Address Mindset Before Tactics: If you're "jammed up," investigate your environment, relationships, and sense of self-safety. Connection, not isolation, is the real performance unlock. Ditch the Retirement Myth: Aim for "semi-retirement"—a hands-on, purpose-driven lifestyle with a few high-impact clients, not endless leisure. Love What You Do—Don't Just Chase Passion: Mastery, service, and progress are the foundations of a fulfilling business. Passion follows excellence. Fill Events Fast by Taking Relentless Action: Research every local business. Call with conviction. Focus on getting them in the room to help—not just to sell. You can have money in the bank and still have no idea whether your franchise is actually profitable. For many franchise owners, financial literacy isn't something they learned before going into business or during onboarding. They may know their revenue, watch their bank balance, and have a bookkeeper handling the numbers, but that doesn't necessarily mean they understand what their P&L is telling them or how to use that information to spot problems early instead of reacting after it's too late. In this episode, leading financial educator and Certified Franchise Executive, and creator of the Profitability Playbook, Rod Bristol shares what he's learned from decades of helping franchise owners understand the numbers behind their businesses. Rod explains why making money doesn't always mean your business is profitable, the four ways every business can improve profitability, and why understanding concepts like break-even and contribution margin, alongside healthy cash flow management, can completely change the way an owner operates their business.Rod also shares why financial education should begin during franchisee onboarding, what franchisors can learn by looking closely at unit-level profitability, and the simple monthly habit he sees among the most profitable business owners. You'll also hear the story of franchisees who went from struggling with profitability to operating five million-dollar locations, and why Rod believes understanding your numbers gives you the ability to make better decisions, grow intentionally, and build a more valuable business.Connect with Rod:Email: Rodbristol@icloud.comLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rod-bristol-cfe-a72167163/Text/Call: 206-742-3443Rod's Book Recommendations:The Martian by Andy WeirProject Hail Mary by Andy WeirEpisode Highlights:Why revenue doesn't always equal profitabilityUnderstanding your P&L and financial statementsWhy financial literacy should start during onboardingThe importance of franchisee unit economicsWhen poor profitability signals a broken franchise modelThe four ways to improve profitabilityUsing break-even and contribution margin to make decisionsWhy franchisors need to focus beyond the top lineThe monthly financial habit of profitable ownersMaking proactive decisions before financial problems grow Resources:Leadership Lessons from Jo Kirchner on Perfection, Progress & Community - https://www.buzzsprout.com/2369319/episodes/15909664-leadership-lessons-from-jo-kirchner-on-perfection-progress-and-communityLeading with Passion, Purpose & Loyalty w/ Paul Pickett - https://www.buzzsprout.com/2369319/episodes/17267486-leading-with-passion-purpose-loyalty-w-paul-pickett Connect with TracyPersonal LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/tracy-panase/JBF LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/company/jbfsaleJBF Franchise System - https://jbfsalefranchise.com/Email: podcast@jbfsale.comConnect with ShannonPersonal LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/shannonwilburn/ JBF LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/company/jbfsaleWebsite - https://shineexecutivecoaching.com/Email - shannon@shineexecutivecoaching.com

During this episode, I had the pleasure of discussing strategies with two veteran Reg CF investors, Tom J Wright and Glenn Burney, who've honed distinct approaches to choosing impactful investment opportunities.Glenn emphasizes the importance of early-stage research and trusted tools like KingsCrowd, a platform that evaluates crowdfunding opportunities. “I usually start there, and if they're rated at least a four, I start digging deeper,” he explained. Glenn's diligence doesn't stop there; he carefully evaluates the founders. “The most important things I look for before I invest are the founders and the total addressable market. If I believe in the founder and the product or service, that's when I invest.”Tom echoed many of Glenn's insights but with his own seasoned approach, placing a special emphasis on market size. “I love a big TAM (total addressable market) because a startup can grow as big as the market allows,” he said. Using a memorable analogy, Tom compared startups to goldfish, explaining that their growth often depends on the size of their environment: “A goldfish will be small in a small tank, but if it's in a lake, it can grow to a foot long.”Beyond market size and founder qualities, Tom also values passion and disruptive potential. “Is the founder full-time? Are they going to do whatever it takes to make this thing successful?” He noted that revolutionary technology is often his green flag: “I love revolutionary tech because it can reset an entire market.”Valuation also plays a critical role in their decision-making. Glenn shared his preference for startups with valuations under $20 million, explaining his goal of achieving at least a 10x return: “If I feel like I can get at least a 10x return, then I feel like the valuation is good.” Tom approaches things similarly but allows for higher valuations when the opportunity feels right. “You want in early… Low valuation and a big TAM? That's a powerful combination.”Their stories also highlight the importance of intuition and alignment. “Does it resonate with me personally?” Tom asked, reflecting on how his values influence his choices. Glenn concluded by sharing his proudest success: investing in a startup that became a unicorn, providing him with a 21x return. The insights shared by Tom and Glenn prove that regulated crowdfunding isn't just about profit—it's about backing great people with big ideas while making a difference in the world. For investors, their advice is invaluable: do your research, trust your instincts, and focus on opportunities that combine potential impact with strong fundamentals.tl;dr:Tom and Glenn share strategies for evaluating and investing in Reg CF startups for impact. They highlight tools like KingsCrowd and key criteria such as TAM and founder commitment.Glenn recounts his story of helping a startup raise $125,000 via a meaningful introduction.Tom and Glenn discuss aligning investments with personal values and market trends for success. Both emphasize the power of passion and networking in transforming investments into impact. How to Develop Passion and Networking As a SuperpowerTom's superpower is his passion, which fuels his mission to make the world more just. As he explained, “Passion is what fuels the fire in my belly… It gets me excited, keeps me up late, and helps me go after these investments.” Glenn's superpower is networking and connection. He shared, “My superpower is bringing people together, adding value wherever I can… I try to help founders after I invest by sending resources or opportunities their way.”Glenn shared a story that exemplified his networking prowess. After investing in a startup, he connected them with an accelerator program that ultimately helped them raise $125,000. His introduction led the company to win the program's grand prize, underscoring how impactful his connections could be for early-stage companies.Tips for Developing the Superpower:Continuously seek inspiration by surrounding yourself with motivational materials, like books and quotes.Look for examples of courage and perseverance from history and everyday life to reignite passion.Focus on adding value to others before asking for help in networking situations.Leverage social media platforms like LinkedIn to build meaningful professional connections.Look for ways to champion others' success through introductions and referrals.By following Tom and Glenn's example and advice, you can make passion and networking your superpowers. With practice and effort, you could develop these skills to do more good in the world through impactful investments and purposeful connections.Remember, however, that research into success suggests that building on your own superpowers is more important than creating new ones or overcoming weaknesses. You do you!Guest ProfileTom J Wright (he/him):Angel Investor/Unicorn Hunter/Crowdfunding Course Creator, Angel Investor, Crowdfunding Course CreatorAbout Online Angel Investing/Crowdfunding Courses for Investors: Tom Wright is currently preparing several online angel investing/crowdfunding courses for investors who want to learn how to take advantage of the INCREDIBLE OPPORTUNITIES that now exist for every-day people, in start-up companies. In Genesis 1, we see that God did not create humanity to simply survive. He made us in His image, crowned us with dignity and purpose, and gave us the responsibility to cultivate a world where life can flourish. In this talk, Pastor Ben Stuart walks through the creation account and reminds us that although we are lower, we are crowned. Education On Fire - Sharing creative and inspiring learning in our schools
Today I'm chatting with Amanda Lee Falkenberg, an internationally acclaimed Australian composer, pianist and creator of The Moons Symphony — a groundbreaking orchestral work recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra under Marin Alsop, with choral forces recorded separately at Abbey Road Studios.Amanda's work bridges science, music and storytelling, developed in close collaboration with NASA planetary scientists and astronomers. She's also the founder of Lunar (Learning under New Artistic Regimes), an immersive educational platform blending planetary science, music and art to spark curiosity in learners of all ages.In this conversation we trace the whole journey: from stumbling across an article on the "ten weirdest moons," through a cold email to a NASA scientist that led to a presentation at JPL, to the pandemic-era twist that finally brought the LSO, Marin Alsop and Abbey Road into alignment. We talk about why she built Lunar as a course rather than a one-off concert, what she's learned from planetary scientists about resilience and the long game, and how a childhood love of John Williams became the unlikely throughline for a project rooted entirely in science fact.Key TakeawaysA cold email can change everything. Amanda's project only reached NASA because she sent an unsolicited message into what she calls "the black hole email" — with no expectation of a reply.Passion projects don't need permission to start. She began researching and composing years before she had a scientist, an orchestra, or a plan for education — the vision came first.Interdisciplinary learning resonates because real life isn't siloed. Music, science and storytelling aren't separate subjects to her — they're one experience, and that's exactly why Lunar works across age groups from teenagers to retirees.Resilience is the throughline of both music and science careers. Amanda draws a direct parallel between the decades-long timelines of NASA missions and the "10,000 hours" of a musician's path — both require staying in it for the long game.Setbacks can create the conditions for a breakthrough. Covid cancelled her original recording dates — and then, months later, cleared Marin Alsop's schedule enough to make the recording finally happen. You don't need a background in either subject to benefit. Lunar is designed so that participants need no prior knowledge of music or science — just curiosity.Chapters:00:02 - Exploring the Moon Symphony with Amanda Lee Falkenberg01:54 - The Journey of the Moon Symphony12:48 - Interdisciplinary Education: Bridging Science and Art15:15 - The Journey of the Lunar Program24:21 - The Journey to Collaborate with NASA29:21 - The Impact of COVID on the Project34:31 - The Journey of Passion Projects39:55 - The Long Game: Resilience in Music and Sciencehttps://www.moons-symphony.com/https://www.moons-symphony.com/gateway-to-lunar▶️ YouTube
"No—You hear that word 90% more than you hear yeses… The nos sometimes come from the people closest to you. For the last 20 years I've been told my dream is far-fetched, but the passion in me drives me… So when business people tell me no, [I say] my loved ones tell me no, and that hasn't stopped me. You're not gonna stop me either. I go knock on another door. One of them's gonna open, and they're gonna say yes." —Bert Lopez Overcoming rejection is the thread that runs through this entire conversation with San Antonio filmmaker Bert Lopez, who built a directing career out of VHS tapes, borrowed favors, and an almost unbelievable number of closed doors. This episode is for anyone chasing a dream that keeps getting told "no" — the entrepreneur, the aspiring author, the creative who's starting to wonder if the door will ever open. Bert walks through his origin story, from watching movies over the fence of a San Antonio drive-in theater as a kid, to filming his first project with his mom's VHS recorder in high school, to now producing faith-based films that stream on Hulu, Amazon Prime, and Tubi. He gets specific about the grind: for one scene in his upcoming film, he was turned down by 10 hotels before the 11th said yes. That kind of persistence, paired with a hard conversation about forgiveness, is what makes this episode land differently than the average "never give up" pep talk. Key takeaways: • Bert was rejected by 10 hotel locations before finding one willing to host a single scene — proof that the "no" is rarely the final answer. • Unforgiveness functions like a mental prison: it blocks creative output the same way writer's block does, according to Bert. • His breakout film ideas came from real pain, including a comedian friend's struggle with anxiety and depression, which became the basis for his upcoming film. • Passion projects — work done without pay, purely for the love of the craft — funded the bigger, paid productions that followed. • Bert's biggest personal takeaway from filmmaking wasn't a directing lesson; it was learning to release decades-old resentment before it could release him. • Streaming revenue from smaller films is what financed each subsequent, bigger production — a slow-build model, not an overnight one. Listen to the full episode for Bert's unfiltered take on chasing a God-given dream through years of rejection. A story of courage, passion, and the strength to keep going is coming to the big screen. Anxious Mark—Life of Emet, written and directed by Bert Lopez and Rogelio Cirillo, premieres September 5, 2026. We're thrilled to share that our very own Daniel Gomez is part of this special film. In this new episode, Crawlspace Media's Tim Pilleri and Lance Reenstierna speak with journalist Sierra Gillespie of Law&Crime about the trial of Lindsay Clancy. This episode was previously published on Missing on August 3, 2026. Lindsay Clancy is a former Massachusetts nurse who was charged with first-degree murder following the January 2023 strangulation deaths of her three young children—Cora, Dawson, and Callan—at their Duxbury home, after which she attempted suicide. Because Clancy admits to the killings, her trial centers on legal responsibility: her defense argues she was in the grips of severe postpartum psychosis and over-medication, while prosecutors argue she acted intentionally and understood her actions. Whose job is it to ensure the brand promise you market is the same one your customers and employees actually experience?Real agility isn't just rapid execution — it's a whole organization responding as one to what customers, employees, and the market actually need.Today, we're talking about "Total Experience" and what it takes to make brand, customer, and employee experience add up to one company, not three. Specifically:- How to orchestrate brand, customer, and employee experience so they reinforce each other instead of competing.- The operational shifts that turn siloed functions into a single, trustworthy experience.- Why the CMO is uniquely positioned to champion this, and where that means owning parts of the business marketing hasn't traditionally touched. To help me discuss this topic, I'd like to welcome Mack McGee, CMO at CareFirst, which was recently recognized at Forrester's CX Forum West as the top insurer in Total Experience.About Mack McGeeWith more than 20 years of experience in marketing and storytelling, Mack excels at connecting people and communicating impact in creative and meaningful ways.
