"It's no longer about winning the channel; it's about winning the customer. Too often, brands optimize for individual platforms without considering the bigger picture. Today's consumers move seamlessly between channels. If we reach the right audiences with the right message and high-impact creative, we lift all ships. The brands that break down silos and adopt an integrated, customer-first approach will drive real, measurable growth."That's a quote from Sammy Rubin, VP of Integrated Media at Wpromote, and a sneak peek at today's episode. In The Future of Integrated Media: Smarter Digital Marketing for Revenue Growth, Kerry sits down with Sammy to discuss the evolving landscape of digital marketing and how business leaders can optimize their media strategies for sustainable revenue growth. With tightening budgets and rising expectations, business leaders must rethink how they allocate marketing dollars. Sammy emphasizes the importance of unifying internal teams, leveraging data-driven decision-making, and testing integrated strategies that align with evolving consumer behaviors to drive measurable results.

By Mary Lindow It's a wonderful thing to be able to give a hand to someone who is in turmoil, but we can't do it by just quoting nice Christian sayings or throwing out a random scripture at them. It's so easy to say, “Oh yes! Just trust in God! It'll all work out. Somehow somewhere God will help you!” When we see a person who is going through trials and who knows God, but is struggling hard, who is deeply fatigued and bobbing up and down under the water, barely keeping afloat, due to some difficulty or trial of their faith, we need to lift them up and we are not to judge them, because it is a slander against the very loved creation of Jesus Christ. Oswald Chambers had a tremendous statement about this. He said, “It's a great thing to see physical courage, and still even strong, moral courage, but the greatest thing is to see spiritual courage, to see that we can help others stand true and strong in the integrity of Jesus, no matter what they are going through. People who have gone through a hot fire or as some call it, a crucible, these tested individuals are going to be a tremendous support to many other people.” He went on to say, “Here's the reason we go through the things we do. God wants to know if he can make us “good bread - good food” to feed to other people.” In first Peter one through eight Peter says to us, “Though right now, you're grieved by so many different trials, hang in there, remember the inheritance! It's not messed up it's not defiled, it's not made dirty. Look to Jesus and you will receive the ultimate result and reward of your faith.” MY FELLOW BELIEVERS, THERE'S A TIME COMING WHEN EVERYTHING THAT RIGHT NOW THAT IS A PROBLEM, WILL BE PERFECTLY SOLVED. In the meantime, are we prepared to let people poke at us, to joke at us, to humiliate us, to let them have their momentary agendas over certain narratives? When you stick it out and hold on, looking to the greater horizon, to the very central part of Christianity, which is your personal walk, your personal relationship to Jesus, how do you continue to handle the cruelties of this current world system? LOOK TO HIM! LOOK AT HIM! Which actually means, look for spiritual discernment, remembering it's a difficulty to be weak, and God strengthens us to go through anything when Jesus Christ is what he is, and who he said he was! “If we have a trial of faith, we must endure it until we get through it, and more often than not, even other Christians who are watching might pull back in disgust at our difficulties or losses.” THESE INDIVIDUALS HAVE YET TO ACTUALLY SURRENDER THEIR LIVES TO HUMILITY. They enjoy thinking God has blessed them with earthly things and pleasures because somehow, they are more clever and worked harder at achieving. THE RICH YOUNG RULER WAS MUCH LIKE THIS. He did all the right actions, was good hearted and generous, oh yes! But he loved the attention it garnered as well. When Jesus asked him to sell it all, sell out 100% to help those around him, and to come and follow Jesus, he couldn't. He loved being in charge and in control of his own destiny. IT SAYS THAT HE WENT AWAY SAD. Sad because he couldn't live both lifestyles at the same time. He most likely thought he could finance Jesus quite well, and make a return on his investment if the marketing drew good crowds! IF YOU HAVE BEEN THROUGH TRIALS OF FAITH IN THE PAST, GOD WILL THEN BRING ACROSS OUR PATHS OTHER MORE IMMATURE SOULS, AND WE HAVE NO BUSINESS DESPISING THEM. WE ARE SUPPOSED TO HELP THEM. We are to be to them something that has embraced and fully transferred into our souls, which is, the very fundamental nature of Jesus. Remember, people will draw off of that “virtue” leaving you. The scripture says Jesus, knew in himself that power had gone out of him. This is when the woman with the shaming, hemorrhaging issue of blood said, “If I could just touch that piece of fabric, the hem of his garment!” and Jesus did say, “Someone touched me! I felt Virtue leave me!” FRIENDS! YOU AND I WILL FEEL THE SAME THING! There are people who spiritually and morally who will literally draw or pull the virtue out of your life, and if you don't keep up the supply from the life of Jesus Christ you will be exhausted! We must keep our spiritual strength strong and let others nourish themselves until they are able to stand on their own feet, and then take direct life instructions from him. DON'T BE DISTURBED IF PEOPLES LIVES SEEM TO BE MESSY… … OR THINGS ARE CHANGING AND NOT FITTING PERFECTLY LIKE A JIGSAW PUZZLE PIECE! It actually means there is a terrific possibility of greater things developing! And the same thing spiritually is that if there is turbulence in our lives, God is turning it into the right thing in the right time! So, in the meantime, look to Jesus, and take the next step as it comes. “GET THROUGH WHATEVER YOU'RE GOING THROUGH AND YOU'LL BE A TREMENDOUS ASSISTANCE TO OTHERS WHO ARE GOING THROUGH THE VERY SAME THING!” IT'S NOT FOR US TO SHAME OR HUMILIATE OR CRITICIZE OTHERS for not being where you are spiritually, but instead, it's for us to see that we are good nourishing bread for these people in the hands of God. If we look at Job Chapter one verse one that verse certainly speaks loudly! It says Job was blameless and upright. He feared God and pushed away or shunned evil and this was the character God gave to Job. God asked Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There's no one on earth like him”, and Satan, then replied and said, “Well, strip him, and he will curse you to your face!” SATAN WANTED JOB TO FALL. HE WANTS US TO FALL, But God wanted Job to be blessed. So Satan tried to strip Job from God. With a Malignant, and a strong, strong, evil energy, he goes to work, and then in one day he brought the greatest man in all of the East into abject poverty and then visits him with great sadness, blow after blow of such a difficult and crushing nature and with such speed this all fell upon Job! We just have to marvel at the testimony of the Holy Spirit that in all of this, Job did not sin by blaming God with wrongdoing, that's in verse 22 of Job one. What a massive win for God, and what a punch in the face and a defeat for Satan. A Current Prophetic Word Many hidden and also more visual Prophetic individuals are hearing similar threads and words from the Holy Spirit regarding what I'm about to share with you. I encourage you to be very focused and still as you take these insights to heart. The Father has things that are very succinct and encouraging for you to hear. “Those who have stayed faithful to God's leading, stepping out into new things will start to see doors opened into the promises. The prophetic word of testing and preparing them for this time is now coming to pass. There is a precise blessing for the double portion where that which was conceived and dreamed about in the years past, and now it surfaces into a double blessing. This is the year where the prophetic voice brings into the open new life, brings restoration, strengthening the weary soul, enlarging your heart, resurrecting the dry bones. This is the prophecy to His church. ‘As you reorder, reset yourself to His leading, His mission, and His headship, He brings the wind of His Spirit to cause His church to rise up. Expect to see resurrection in the church'. Doors begin to appear for many, with heavenly encounters and signs showing the way. Those who have stayed faithful to God's leading, stepping out into new things will start to see doors opened into the promises. For some, this year will be one where you start to truly enter the dream you felt God called you to during the last year or two, even though it seemed to lead to nothing, and you found yourself back at the beginning of where it all started. But through the voice of the Father and the Son, they have been establishing you, preparing you, for what lies ahead. This year, development has been taking place, positioning you for the door that is about to open. The is the beginning of the prophetic word and dream being realized… …But it is only the beginning. The place where no options and hard brick walls once existed, now, doors appear, new partnerships and pure relationships continue to be revealed. This is for personal moves of God and for national moves of God globally. The moment and movements, yes, better mobility allowing the passage through the doors is being made possible. However, be wise and aware that the enemy crouches at the door, so don't be deceived, but in the power of God and faith in His leading, continue, despite the battle. Know too that Satan will seek to deceive by building his false gates and attractive “other doors” options, flanking the Lord's, so; prayerfully seek the will of God. The key that opens the Doors of The Father is humility and dependence on Him. This door is opened by the Doorkeeper. Hearts once closed to love will begin to open the journey to humility, bringing about those who will bend their knees. Those who carry the gospel will see their light received by those bowing and seeking God, and a new awakening will take place. It's time for the doorkeepers to announce the invitation, ‘Come, enter into His presence, open your heart to His perfect love, and you will find rest. The Lord will make His home in you.' My Husband Steve had a most beautiful encounter with the Lord during an early morning and he is going to share his exact words and understanding about what that the Lord gave to him in the next few minutes of this podcast. It is so very timely and certainly the word of the Lord for this time that we are living in and experiencing. PECULIAR PEOPLE (Jesus Christ) who did give himself for us, that he might ransom us from all lawlessness, and might purify to himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works;” Titus 2:14 (Young's Literal Translation) PERHAPS YOU HAVEN'T CONSIDERED YOURSELF PECULIAR, BUT THAT'S HOW THE APOSTLE PAUL REFERS US TO. Why? Because Peculiar People walk by the spirit, and not by the flesh. In our temporal life on this earth we are bombarded with difficult situations. However, even as we live in the flesh our life is hidden in God and we who walk in the spirit overcome these situations. “I am crucified with Christ nevertheless, I live, yet, not I but Christ, who lives himself in me. The life I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave his life for me. THERE IS A SONG THAT WAS OFTEN SUNG IN WORSHIPS SERVICES THAT ORIGINATED FROM PSALM 48:1-3 Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised. In the city of our God, on the mountain of his holiness. Beautiful for situations, the God of the whole earth, Is Mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the City of the Great King? ON THE FEAST OF TABERNACLES, THE INGATHERING, THE FIRST NIGHT OF SUKKOTH, SEPTEMBER 30, 2023, AT 4AM, I WAS AWAKENED AND WALKED OUTSIDE TO SEE THE FULL HARVEST MOON. It was an unusually bright night. Prophetically it represented the soon coming harvest of souls about to be ingathered to His Kingdom. Next to the moon shown the planet Venus - the morning star. We know the Morning Star to be another name Jesus gave to Himself in the Book of Revelations. I also saw the Little Dipper shining very brightly as if reporting that His Saints were about to “dip in“ and gather the end time harvest for the Kingdom of God. In this weary season because of the constant assault of evil agendas we often feel as if we are literally on the battlefield of the last days War between Two Kingdoms. Satan's assault, his purpose, is to steal, kill and destroy, particularly from the Saints of God. His method is to first come by fearful thought to distract us from who we are in our spirit man and steal our divine purpose. MANY SAINTS ARE PRESENTLY BURDENED BY SITUATIONS OF THE WORLD. They are looking to their situations as being more real than God's Word and the power that He has given to them. If your purpose is stolen it is equal to neutralizing you or equal to spirituality killing you. When your eyes are focused more upon the negative situation than on who we are in Christ, then Satan has not only stolen from you, he has robbed you of your true identity. The ‘eyes of our flesh' are then held captive by him as we focus more on the problem than the victory we have in Jesus. He said, “I have come that you might have life abundantly!” We stand as conquerors in Him or we succumb to the trouble and are defeated. GOD SAYS WE ARE A PECULIAR PEOPLE. Why? We who know our God intimately, walk in the spirit and not in the flesh. We are unmoved by situations. “He who has ears to hear, (he who walks in the spirit realm), let him hear what God is saying to the churches.” EARLY IN 2022 THE LORD SPOKE TO ME AND SAID, “Live in the history of your future!” Exactly what does that mean? Ask yourself these questions: In the spirit realm how do you envision yourself in the future? What are (or will be) your accomplished results? What passions did God instill in you and what purpose has He created in you before the foundation of the world? IN THE SPIRIT, IN THE FUTURE, DO YOU SEE YOURSELF SETTLED AND LOOKING BACK ON YOUR LIFE HAVING COMPLETED WHAT GOD HAS PURPOSED FOR YOU TO ACCOMPLISH DURING YOUR SHORT SPAN ON THE EARTH? In the midst of your current situation, according to your future self, do you look back at the present obstacles, the situation that Satan threw at you to trip you up, and see yourself as having overcome it? Do you envision yourself as confident in the Lord having applied His word and having walked by faith and not by sight? In the spirit you are imagining that you have advanced yourself in faith? Are you living in the years yet to come and looking back to the now seeing how you overcame the situation by the Word of God? That is how you live now “…in the history of your future!” You borrow from your future victorious self and apply that to the present. FOR EXAMPLE, LOOKING AT A MONETARY SITUATION OF LACK OF FINANCES, IT IS ALWAYS ACCOMPANIED WITH ANXIETY. Scripture says, “Anxiety in the heart of a man weighs it down.” - Proverbs 12:25. IT IS THE DEVIL'S TRAP TO DIVERT YOU INTO EMBRACING WORRY RATHER THAN FOCUSING ON ALL THAT YOU HAVE SUPPLIED IN THE PROMISES OF THE LORD. That same scripture above is completed with “but a good word makes it glad!” In other words, focusing on the Word of God and the promises He made to provide for you are more powerful than any lack you might be experiencing in the natural. YOU ARE A PECULIAR PEOPLE! You are not moved by what you see, by what present upsetting situations you are going through. “The joy of the Lord is your strength.” Peculiar People have joy in the midst of natural situations. They override circumstances by faith standing on the promises of God. In their spirit they see themselves having passed through the “valley of the shadow of death” overcoming these natural situations by remaining confident in what God says about them. PECULIAR PEOPLE HAVE A FOUNDATION ON WHICH THEY STAND. “Having done all to stand,” (standing firm on the Word and who God called them to be), “stand therefore!” They see themselves, not on the defense, but on the offense, having the upper hand. They confidently wrestle the adversary and rejoice in prayers of thanksgiving. They are resolute in presenting themselves and pleading their case before the Throne of Grace, fully dressed in the armor of God, which is the holy character of the Lord Jesus. They stand in faith stating what scripture says about their situation saying, “God, here is what your Word says about it and I'm holding you to it!” He loves that boldness! PECULIAR PEOPLE STAND FIRM AGAINST THE WILES OF THE DEVIL BECAUSE THEY SEE THEMSELVES AS VICTORS. They envision who they have become in their future self. They know who they are because of what Jesus did on the Cross and who God called them to be. They know their purpose is to bring heaven to earth, to be a present expression that represents the faith of all the great Cloud of Witnesses. Peculiar People already envision themselves as having defeated the devil and as being part of the City of God, the New Jerusalem. This is their future! “Live NOW in the history of your future!” They have already overcome natural situations and the devil's ploy against them. HOW YOU ASK? “And they overcame and conquered him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, for they did not love their life and renounce their faith even when faced with death.” Revelations 12:11 (Amplified) FIRST, VICTORY COMES BY THE BLOOD OF THE LAMB. They identify themselves with Christ on the Cross having had died with Him, then having risen with Him where their life is conducted by faith and hidden in the Son of God. Secondly, it is by the word of their testimony, their covenant! They live their earthly lives through Him in spirit over the flesh. God is the same yesterday, today, and forever! Forever is the spiritual place that is beyond the dimension of eternity. It has no beginning and no end. These saints are hosting Christ in their spirit; therefore, they live through the Alpha and Omega in this life on earth. Thirdly, they overcame Satan in their identity with Christ because they love not their our own lives, their own soul and body, even to a situation of facing physical death. If necessary, in our stand against Satan, we volunteer for martyrdom. How is the possible? Because we have already died with Him! PECULIAR PEOPLE LIVE THROUGH CHRIST JESUS BY WALKING IN THE SPIRIT, a realm higher than our natural earthly physical life. We live on Mount Zion, the city of the New Jerusalem, along with the victorious Saints who have preceded us. The Morning Star has risen in our heart and we see ourselves for who we are as victors in the spirit. We live now on this earth borrowing on the promise of who we will be in the age to come. We live in the history of our future! We live as the Ingathered. We call those things that are not (presently in the midst of our situations) as though they were, because by faith, in the spirit realm, they already are a reality in the purpose of Christ within us. That is how you fulfill and complete the part of the prayer that Jesus taught His disciples to pray, and to live. “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth, as it is in heaven.” THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS WITHIN YOU! It is your personal relationship with God in spirit. It is your union with Him in revelation that you are one with God in intimacy. Once that is established, and then you can confidently carry His presence outwardly and exhibit His nature toward others. YOU ARE THE TEMPLE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT AND RADIATE HIS GLORY. That is what it means to bring His Kingdom on earth “as it is in heaven.” PECULIAR PEOPLE BRING THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN TO THE EARTH. Stand firm in who you are as the bright Morning Star continues to arise in your heart, even to its brightest, as the light of the full day or noon. Live today in the history of your future. Be Peculiar. LET'S GIVE THANKS FOR GOD SPEAKING TO US MY FRIENDS! He spoke to Steve that we are to be unusual, peculiar radiant people, filled with the light of Jesus! Thank you Jesus…. For BEING the door of Hope. Revelation 3:8 says, “I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name. Isaiah 22:22 declares, “And I will place on his shoulder the key of the house of David. The Heartland Institute's Donald Kendal, Jim Lakely, and Chris Talgo present episode 414 of the In The Tank Podcast. It appears more and more that we are venturing into a new era of COVID restrictions. President Biden stated his intention to seek additional funding to develop a new COVID vaccine. Fauci was recently on CNN promoting masking up. And more schools and venues are imposing COVID mandates. Also, there are many signs the government is willing to use new tools and strategies to enforce harsher COVID lockdowns. In 1983, an Ohio radio station called WOXY launched a sonic disruption to both corporate rock and to its conservative home region, programming an omnivorous range of genres and artists while being staunchly committed to local independent art and media. In the 1990s, as alternative rock went mainstream and radio grew increasingly homogeneous, WOXY gained international renown as one of Rolling Stone's "Last Great Independent Radio" stations. The station projected a philosophy that prioritized such independence--the idea that truly progressive, transgressive, futuristic disruptions of the status quo were possible only when practiced with and for other people. In The Future of Rock and Roll: 97X WOXY and the Fight for True Independence (UNC Press, 2023), philosopher Robin James uses WOXY's story to argue against a corporate vision of independence--in which everyone fends for themselves--and in favor of an alternative way of thinking and relating to one another that disrupts norms but is nevertheless supported by communities. Against the standard retelling of the history of "modern rock," James looks to the local scenes that made true independence possible by freeing individual artists from the whims of the boardroom. This philosophy of community-rooted independence offers both a counternarrative to the orthodox history of indie rock and an alternative worldview to that of the current corporate mainstream. Jung_E (Korean: 정이), stylised as JUNG_E, is a 2023 South Korean science fiction film written and directed by Yeon Sang-ho, starring Kang Soo-yeon, Kim Hyun-joo and Ryu Kyung-soo. The film features the final film appearance of Kang Soo-yeon who died ahead of its release. It premiered on January 20, 2023 on Netflix.Jung_E portrays a desolated Earth in the 22nd century that is no longer habitable due to climate change, and humans are forced to live in man-made shelters built in space. As the humans settle in around 80 of those shelters, three of them declare themselves as the Adrian Republic, attack Earth and other shelters, and cause a civil war between the Allied Force and Adrian Republic.Captain Yun Jung-yi is a legendary mercenary of Allied Forces who led her team to countless successful missions against the Adrian Republic. She has a little daughter, Yun Seo-hyun, who suffers from a lung tumor, and Jung-yi became a mercenary to afford her daughter's medical treatments. The day Seo-hyun gets the surgery, Jung-yi fails her mission and ends up in a coma. Kronoid, an institute in charge of developing AI technologies, convinces her family to agree to clone her brain, promising that they will cover Jung-yi's treatments, her daughter's education and living expenses.Thirty-five years later in 2194, Kronoid clones Jung-yi's brain to develop an AI mercenary, code-named Jung_E. Dr. Yun Seo-hyun is the team leader of research project Jung_E and seeks to memorialize Jung-yi as a hero rather than a failure. Researchers at Kronoid have copied Jung-yi's brain data and put them in android bodies. Through simulations of Jung-yi's final mission, they try to extract combat memory data that could be used to develop an exceptional combat AI. Just like Captain Jung-yi failed her last mission, AI JUNG_E also fails in every simulation of the last mission.Seo-hyun learns that her childhood cancer has returned, and she only has three months left to live. She also learns through the chairman of Kronoid that there is no need to develop combat AI anymore because the Adrian Republic and Allied Forces are entering a treaty. With peace approaching, the company has decided to focus on household services. Seo-hyun discovers one of her team members with a scantily clad Jung_E robot in his apartment, but he claims that Kronoid has tasked him with investigating using the Jung_E models as sex toys. After the last simulation of project Jung_E, Seo-hyun escapes the facility with a Jung_E robot while other combat robots and security forces chase them. Kim Sang-Hoon, the project's director, is revealed to also be a robot with an AI brain. Kim shoots Seo-hyun as she and the Jung_E robot flee via elevated rail. The Jung_E robot fights him off, and he is destroyed when his part of the train falls to the ground. Seo-hyun urges Jung_E to leave her and survive. After surprising Seo-hyun by showing affection, Jung_E escapes and looks around on top of a rock in a mountain range ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★
The marginalisation of Black voices from the academy is a problem in the Western world. But Black Studies, where it exists, is a powerful, boundary-pushing discipline, grown out of struggle and community action. In The Future of Black Studies (Pluto Press, 2022), Abdul Alkalimat, one of the founders of Black Studies in the US, presents a reimagining of the future trends in the study of the Black experience. Taking Marxism and Black Experientialism, Afro-Futurist and Diaspora frameworks, he projects a radical future for the discipline at this time of social crisis. Choosing cornerstones of culture, such as the music of Sun Ra, the movie Black Panther and the writer Octavia Butler, he looks at the trajectory of Black liberation thought since slavery, including new research on the rise in the comparative study of Black people all over the world. Turning to look at how digital tools enhance the study of the discipline, this book is a powerful read that will inform and inspire students and activists. Peanuts led journalist and essayist Jori Lewis to a larger story about Senegal, slavery, commerce and religion. “Slaves for Peanuts: A Story of Conquest, Liberation and a Crop That Changed History,” her first book, follows the legume's history in the West African nation from it's initial importation from South America to the peanut's place in defining the agricultural landscape for several hundred years. The same kind of longtail historical perspective, though, has found Lewis writing other kinds of nonfiction on topics as diverse as the baobab tree and building in and around Dakar. Additional reading A review of Lewis' book, "How the peanut trade prolonged slavery," lauds the writer's work in tracking down elders who continue to pass along oral histories. Another review, "'Slaves for Peanuts' gets to the troubling roots of a beloved snack," points out that the trading of commodities and people “didn't just coexist; they were intertwined.” In “The Future of Mud,” a recently published story in The Atlantic, Lewis takes a look at the building boom in Senegal, examining historical modes of construction that offer advantages over concrete buildings that can point to an owner's financial success. "The Eternal Tree," an essay in Emergence Magazine, is Lewis' meditation on the baobab tree, both a signifier of change and beauty to the writer, as well as an inspiration for a range of other culture makers, including Orchestra Baobab. This week we go into the virtual classroom and learn about a part of the Revolutionary War that not many people learned in school. The maritime portion of the war, which turned out to be a very important part of the war, and how it came out in the end!Author, Eric Jay Dolin, joined the Lounge, this week, to talk about the role privateers played in the Revolutionary War. His book, "Rebels at Sea: Privateering in the American Revolution" covers this topic, and he came on to chat about its importance! The guys talk to him about a plethora (a plethora?) of topics, and the sea portions of the Revolutionary War are prevalent! How important were the privateers on the seas during the war? How many ships are we talking about that were privateer ships? What was their payment for doing these tasks? What are his thoughts on privateers being called, "glorified pirates?"The guys had a great time talking to Eric about his process of writing a book, how he develops his topics, and how long a book usually takes to write. The conversation was so good, that they needed to cut it off!THAT JUST MEANS WE HAVE A REASON TO BRING HIM BACK ON, IN THE FUTURE!Check out what Eric is up to by going to www.ericjaydolin.com, and you will also find all the different titles he has in his portfolio, along with where to buy them! It's a fantastic week! In The Future of the Presidency, Journalism, and Democracy: After Trump (Routledge, 2022), Dr. Robert E. Gutsche Jr. examines the effects of Donald Trump's presidency on journalistic practices, rhetoric, and discourses. Rooted in critical theory and cultural studies, it asks what life may be like without Trump, not only for journalism but also for American society more broadly. The book places perspectives and tensions around the Trump presidency in one spot, focusing on the underlying ideological forces in tensions around media trust, Trumpism, and the role of journalism in it all. It explores how journalists dealt with racist rhetoric from the White House, relationships between the Office of the President and social media companies, citizens, and journalists themselves, while questioning whether journalism has learned the right lessons for the future. More importantly, chapters on liberal media "bias," the First 100 Days of the Biden Presidency, gender, and race, and how journalists should adopt measures to "reduce harm" hint as to where politics and journalism may go next. Reshaping the scholarly and public discourse about where we are headed in terms of the presidency and publics, social media, and journalism, this book will be an important resource for scholars and graduate students of journalism, media studies, communication studies, political science, race and ethnic studies and sociology. The new audiobook by Dr David Hone which explores the frontiers of dinosaur research. Ever since we first started discovering dinosaurs in the early-1800s, our obsession for uncovering everything about these creatures has been insatiable. Each generation has made huge strides in trying to better our understanding of these animals and in the past 20 years, we have made more discoveries than in the previous two hundred. There have been extraordinary advances in palaeontological methods and ever more dinosaur fossils promise a landslide of new data and huge leaps forward in our understanding of these incredible animals. Over time, we have been bale to look at the sizes and shapes of bones, we have identified patches of fossil skin, we have looked at footprints and bite marks and we've calculated mass estimates and walking speeds. With surprisingly little data to work from, we can put together a picture of an animal that has been extinct for a million human lifetimes. But for all our technological advances, and two centuries of new data and ideas, there is stull much more we don't know. What parasites and diseases afflicted them? How did they communicate? Did they climb trees? How many species were there? In The Future of Dinosaurs, palaeontologist Dr David Hone looks at the recent strides in scientific research and the advanced knowledge we've gathered in recent years, as well as what we hope to learn in the future about these most fascinating of extinct creatures.

The Insurance industry is facing a need to change beyond any we've faced before. That thing is ESG. Environmental, Societal and Governance. While many in the industry are waking up to ESG, and some have been taking action for years, the industry as a whole needs to do more. The question is how, and how do we even think about it? In "The Future of ESG in Insurance," Bryan shares the three strategic ways of looking at the issue, and what we can do about it so we, as an industry, can move forward. Bryan Falchuk turns into the guest in this episode, with guest host Ema Roloff, to talk about this issue and the report he's just published on the issue. You can download the report for free at http://future-of-insurance.com/esg thanks to the support of Duck Creek Technologies. Highlights from the Show We are facing a cliff when it comes to matters like Climate Change and many of the social issues If there is one theme that has become central to so many discussions in the Insurance industry lately, it is Environmental, Social and Governance, or “ESG”. It is not just about the future of Insurance, but the future of our economy, society, and planet overall. Given how large, complex, and hard to pin down to measurable specifics it can be, ESG is also an area many insurers struggle navigating. With the increased focus on ESG globally of customers, partners, governments, investors, and other key constituents, being able to navigate it successfully is becoming table stakes. That focus is only sharpening. With the new report from the United Nations' Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) that was released on 9 August, 2021, the alarm bell on the environment is ringing louder than ever. As the UN called it, this is a “code red for humanity.” And Climate is only on one component of ESG. ESG encompasses a much broader set of ideas and issues that must be addressed, like" Diversity, Equity and Inclusion; Social justice; Governance and transparency; and more. Sometimes, these issues may be at odds with each other. For example, when making decisions for ecological reasons, we may lead to the displacing of people from their homes or their sole means of earning a living. Or it may be hard to get a clear picture of our performance or how to measure it, which can make it hard to comply with increasing reporting requirements from governments, regulators and rating agencies. Navigating the issue of ESG can be complex, interwoven and overwhelming. We need clarity and structure for how we, as an industry, can think about, develop and execute against our ESG goals. Bryan presents a three-part structure for the Insurance industry to think about ESG Corporate Citizenship - the power of our first party practices Investing in Change - supporting better outcomes through investments Enabling the Market - the impact of what we choose to insure In each of these areas, Bryan provides examples and guidance on how we, as an industry, can move forward proactively and effectively on the issue of ESG. You can access his piece on ESG, free thanks to support Duck Creek, at www.future-of-insurance.com/esg Mentioned in the episode is Ed Halsey, who you can follow on YouTube Ema's also worth following on LinkedIn This episode is brought to you by Medallia (Medallia.com), and the book series, "The Future of Insurance: From Disruption to Evolution" by Bryan Falchuk (future-of-insurance.com). I love the promises in Psalms. There comes a time in your life and mine when only God can satisfy. In my teenage years my prayer was, “My flesh longs for You Lord, I'm thirsting for You, I'm hungry for You,” – but more, the next verse, I've never forgotten it, “to see Your Power and Your Glory, NOW, as I have seen You in the past, in the sanctuary” – this is my heart's desire, NOW! That just as I have seen the Power of God in the past, I want to see MORE, NOW, IN THE FUTURE. I have to live, I cannot die, they can't take me until I see Your Power, Your Glory, NOW – GREATER THAN ANYTHING I HAVE SEEN IN THE PAST!

SHOW NOTES: On this show… we are embracing grief and all its varying shades. Not denying it, running from it, or refusing to face it but embracing it. What can grief teach and how can it help us heal? When to forgive yourself and others and how to accept life and all it has in store for you. The term, “grief is a part of life” might sound like a cliche but if you accept it as factual, then walking through it is the only course of action. Noticing the varying shades can help you accept loss for what it is and move to an understanding that tomorrow brings new hope and opportunity. Does just hearing the word grief create a feeling of impending sadness? The general color of mourning is black so let’s start there. Grief is a noun, not a verb and the dictionary definition is very definite: deep sorrow, especially caused by someone's death. : deep and poignant distress caused by or as if by bereavement. Sorrow, angst, woe, regret. Grieving as a verb is an action of feeling grief for or because of death. Expressing great sorrow. There are many guides to overcoming grief and many of them include lots of helpful coping strategies but just remember, your grief is personal and unique to you. It won’t fit nicely into a predetermined box and it won’t follow a detailed timeline. Be kind and forgiving as you work your way through loss. Experience grief isn’t only connected to the loss of a loved one. Don’t question your grief or judge yourself based on the varying shades. Each time we lose something, time, an opportunity, a relationship, a loved one, and so many more. We feel loss. Maybe not all forms of loss are followed by deep sorrow, but they are represented within our varying shades and will still require your attention. With that said, I do fully believe in the Five Stages of Grief. Don’t think of these stages as a step-by-step, chronological guide. You may or may not experience any one or all of these stages once, in sequence. Or over and over in and out with varying degrees. I found a break down from Christina Gregory, Ph.D. on the Kubler-Ross Model: The Five Stages of Grief at PSYCOM We take a deeper dive into every stage…. It’s important to note that this list is no sequential and you may visit each stage more than once or not at all. Denial Anger Bargaining Depression Acceptance My Father was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2003. Without a cure, we knew the outlook was bleak but that didn’t stop us from staying positive, and as my Father used to say “just seeing what we’re dealing with”. It was a long decline with loss at every turn. When he lost the ability to effectively communicate, or the ability to drive or be left alone. When he lost the ability to be cared for at home and when he lost the ability to walk. Through dementia, he lost his memory and many of his faculties. Each phase brought on elements of grief and with each level of acceptance, there was more grief to embrace. When he passed away last year there was a sense of relief mixed with extreme sadness. I was happy for his freedom and faced with the inevitable loss accumulated for years and years of loss. Kathryn Sandford’s story echos mine as she writes 7 Valuable Life Lessons The Pain of Grief Can Teach Us Live Your Life to the Fullest As It Can Change In A Blink Of An Eye Family and Friends -Your Precious Gifts in Life Healing Is A Process – don't rush it. Use Your Power Of Choice - Choose to be hopeful. Find Your Purpose In Life Don't Let Your Past Rule Your Life Now And In The Future. Don't Run Away From Life stay strong and embrace its unpredictability. Life seems to be filled with lesson after lesson doesn’t it. As we walk through, run, crawl, and cower - life is teaching us lessons through joy and sorrow. At one point or another, you might be compelled to choose “head-in-the-sand” vs facing your challenges head-on. I mean, who hasn’t wanted to check out of a difficult situation or two. But feeling life is as big a part of living as being. I work with women in rehab and embracing and working through grief is a topic that can’t be ignored. For many, they have used drugs and alcohol as a way to escape the emotional pain that comes from trauma. This method then becomes the way of checking out of all struggles and disappointments. In rehab, you are forced to come face-to-face with ALL the pain and since it’s been left unresolved, it can come on with heart-crushing reality. As painful as it is, I remind them that it’s normal to feel this great sense of loss when trauma, death, separation, and loss is experienced. It’s hard to buy-in to the fact that this is actually a good thing. It shows the level at which you were able to feel and express real love. For many this is rock bottom, knowing they can experience and deliver this level of grief to others. Not all grief looks alike. Just like there are stages and shades, there are also different types of grief. At whatsyourgrief.com I found TYPES OF GRIEF AND LOSS by ELEANOR HALEY Here are just a few we cover in the show… Normal Grief Anticipatory Grief Complicated Grief Chronic Grief Delayed Grief If you are sitting there right now keeping your pain to yourself because you don’t want to burden someone with your sadness, please, climb up out of the bog and look at the bigger picture. We are all going through something. People need people to heal and to survive. Reach out now. With that said, you must be willing to heal and move forward. No rush, maybe not today, but someday. Having a shoulder to lean on and a friend to help carry your burden is important but pulling someone into your sadness to camp out is not. CHALLENGE: Your days can get better if you allow the sun to shine in and a new perspective to form. Your capacity for love is endless. Embrace grief but reach a hand forward and grab on to hope. I Know YOU Can Do It!

His approach is always subtle; his banter is casual and absent any pressure to respond. But when renowned pediatrician and children's advocate Dr. Irwin Redlener casually asks his young patients, "What do you want to be when you grow up?” the lights invariably come on, eye contact occurs, and the child emerges from deep inside a protective shell. "Children are essentially dreamers … undaunted by adversity or reality-based barriers to success,” Dr. Redlener writes in The Future of Us: What the Dreams of Children Mean for Twenty-First-Century America. Inadequate education, barriers to health care and crushing poverty make it overwhelmingly difficult for many children to realize their dreams. Finding ways to alter these trajectories is serious, grown-up business, Dr. Redlener emphasizes, and it's time for us to act. In The Future of Us, Dr. Redlener draws upon his four decades of professional experiences to examine our nation's health care safety nets and special programs that are designed to protect and nurture our most vulnerable kids, but that too often fail to do so. The book follows Dr. Redlener's long, colorful career, from his work as a pediatrician in the Arkansas delta, to treating child abuse in a Miami hospital, to helping children in the aftermaths of 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina. He has served on the board of USA for Africa, cofounded the Children's Health Fund with Paul Simon (and persuaded Joan Baez to play a benefit concert) and dined with Fidel Castro. He once sat across the table from Michael Jackson, and he has traveled with presidential candidates. But his most powerful source of motivation remains the children who face terrible adversities yet dream of becoming paleontologists, artists and marine biologists. Their stories are his springboard for discussing larger policy issues that hinder us from effectively eradicating childhood poverty and overcoming barriers to accessible health care. Persistent deprivation and the avoidable problems that accompany poverty ensnare millions of children and impact the health, prosperity and creativity of the adults they become. Dr. Redlener argues that we must drastically change our approach to meeting the needs of children ― for their sake and to ensure America's resiliency and influence in an increasingly complex world. It is Dr. Redlener's hope that readers will emerge optimistic about our future, with a deeper understanding of how investing in children today will increase our chances of a successful tomorrow. Fighting for our nation's children is far from a lost cause, and nothing could be more important. Author Irwin Redlener, M.D., is a pediatrician and founding director of the National Center for Disaster Preparedness at Columbia University's Earth Institute, which works to understand and improve the nation's capacity to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters. In 2020, Dr. Redlener created the Pandemic Resource and Response Initiative at Columbia. He is a public health analyst for NBC and MSNBC, and recently partnered with Cher in CherCares, a new program that assists communities struggling with COVID-19. Dr. Redlener is also President Emeritus and Co-Founder of the Children's Health Fund, a philanthropic initiative that he created with singer/songwriter Paul Simon and Karen Redlener to develop health care programs in 25 of the nation's most medically underserved urban and rural communities. He currently serves as a special advisor on emergency preparedness to New York Mayor Bill de Blasio, and regularly communicates with leadership in U.S. Departments of Health and Human Services, as well as Homeland Security. For the past several weeks I’ve been reading books by Howard Thurman, to whom I was introduced in seminary. I’m embarrassed to say that in a way, because I feel that I should have been introduced to him much earlier in life. But what I realized then is that there are very few times in my academic life that I was introduced to minority voices within theology. I am slowly trying to correct that, and maybe my sharing with you will help.I recently read “Jesus and the Disinherited” and offered a brief excerpt in the May 29 blog post. Right now I’m reading “The Search for Common Ground.” Thurman wrote it in the aftermath of the assasination of Martin Luther King, Jr. in an attempt to reconcile what he felt was an increasing polarization in American society. Kind of ironic, isn’t it? It feels to me like we are only now living in the most polarizing time since the Civil War. Reading about white militia groups that are stockpiling weapons and planning for a race war makes it feel like we are closer than ever to another one. Along with that, social distancing creates a literal forced separation and this entire virus fallout feels pretty apocalyptic. But the demonstrations we have seen across this country over the past weeks have brought me renewed hope. I see people coming together, maybe not as safely as they should at times, but coming together around ways to find common ground.I read this book and I am stunned by how prophetic it is. It is just more affirmation that God uses the voices of those perceived by humanity as weak to say and do the strongest things. We take comfort that when Christ returns, all the human power and wealth that people have so carefully built up will be transformed into beauty that can be shared equally by all.In the preface, Thurman has an excerpt from a poem that I want to leave with you today. I was unfamiliar with the words and the writer, Olive Schriener, so I looked her up. A complicated figure, she was born in colonized South Africa in 1855, received no formal education but wrote a very successful novel called “The Story of An African Farm'' which was published in 1883. She was a strong advocate for African civil rights and her brother was Prime Minister of the Cape Colony for a brief time. She wrote several other works as well including a book of dreams simply titled “Dreams” in 1890 from which this poem comes. It is from Chapter Five: Three Dreams in a Desert. And I awoke; and all about me was the yellow afternoon light: the sinking sun lit up the fingers of the milk bushes; and my horse stood by me quietly feeding. And I turned on my side, and I watched the ants run by thousands in the red sand. I thought I would go on my way now—the afternoon was cooler. Then a drowsiness crept over me again, and I laid back my head and fell asleep. And I dreamed a dream.I dreamed I saw a land. And on the hills walked brave women and brave men, hand in hand. And they looked into each other’s eyes, and they were not afraid. And I saw the women also hold each other’s hands. And I said to him beside me, “What place is this?”And he said, “This is heaven.”And I said, “Where is it?”And he answered, “On earth.”And I said, “When shall these things be?”And he answered, “IN THE FUTURE.”And I awoke, and all about me was the sunset light; and on the low hills the sun lay, and a delicious coolness had crept over everything; and the ants were going slowly home. And I walked towards my horse, who stood quietly feeding. Then the sun passed down behind the hills; but I knew that the next day he would arise again.

The Future of Everything with Russ Altman "Stephen Quake: What can the DNA in your blood reveal about your health?" In our 100th episode, we meet the scientist who answered this question and revolutionized everything from detecting Down syndrome to cancer. In The Future of Everything’s 100th episode, bioengineer, physicist and inventor Stephen Quake recounts a personal experience. When Quake’s wife was pregnant with their first child, doctors performed a common but risky procedure known as an amniocentesis. Using a long needle, they pierced his wife’s uterus through her abdomen to grab a few cells from the amniotic fluid surrounding the fetus to test for genetic diseases and abnormalities. The child was fine, but to Quake and his wife the test felt like an invasion. So Quake, a renowned bioengineer and physicist at Stanford, decided to do something about it. He invented a blood test to replace amniocentesis. It turns out that a small percentage of the DNA floating around in every mother’s bloodstream comes from the fetus. And that cell-free DNA, as it’s known, can be tested for the same diseases and abnormalities that amniocentesis can reveal, all without risk to the mother or child. Today, 4 million expectant mothers each year get Quake’s blood test, and use of amniocentesis is quickly fading as a diagnostic tool. Little did Quake understand at the time that his lab would set off a revolution of sorts, leading to a remarkable array of similar blood tests that can detect everything from cancer to hidden infections to tissue rejection in transplant patients to premature birth – all weeks or months earlier and less invasively than existing techniques can. Join host Russ Altman and Stephen Quake for The Future of Everything radio show’s 100th episode. You can listen to The Future of Everything on Sirius XM Insight Channel 121, iTunes, Google Play, SoundCloud, Spotify, Stitcher or via Stanford Engineering Magazine.
ANTHONY ANDERSON and VERNA WILSON welcome back MARIAH THE MEDIUM! We have a nice long chat about MEDIUMSHIP ABILITIES, GHOST HUNTING and even spend a good deal of time exchanging ideas and possible theories. MARIAH even gives us some REVELATIONS about our own lives in the NOW and IN THE FUTURE. Tune in for a very IN DEPTH conversation. MARIAH is a psychic medium and paranormal investigator who acted on her lifetime curiosity about the unexplained, first by joining a local ghost hunting group 8 years ago. Her spiritual, mediumship journey began 6 years ago, after having a career in the advertising industry and working as a concierge for over 13 years. Spirit decided it was time to be part of her life in New Orleans during a paranormal investigation, when she spontaneously channeled a spirit missing her husband who had gone off to war. Subsequently, she learned as much as she could about what it meant to be able to ‘trance channel’ spirits and practiced it as often as she could at various investigations. William Boekestein returns to The Shaun Tabatt Show to share about his latest book The Future of Everything: Essential Truths About the End Times (Reformation Heritage Books, 2019). About the Book: All of us think about the end times. When we reflect on what will happen not only when we die but when this present age ends, some combination of ideas, images, hopes, and fears floods our minds. In The Future of Everything, William Boekestein encourages us to allow our thoughts on the end times to be guided by God's Word. While combing the Scriptures to find direction related to subjects like death, the millennial kingdom, the return of Christ, the resurrection, judgment, heaven, and hell, Boekestein helps us cultivate a vision for the future that impacts our walk before God's face today. About the Author: William Boekestein is the pastor of Immanuel Fellowship Church in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He received his B.A. at Kuyper College and his M.Div. at Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary. He has worked in residential construction and taught at a Christian school for several years. Welcome to the Improv is No Joke podcast. Today’s guest is Bill Sheridan, the Maryland Association of CPAs’ Chief Communications Officer, editor, and resident social media cheerleader. He is creator and co-author of the association’s acclaimed blog, CPA Success; Certified Association Executive and thought leader at the Business Learning Institute; and manager of the association’s numerous social networks. Today we’re talking about what Bill sees on the horizon for information and technology, and how CPAs and other business professionals will need to adapt as technology changes. “I see a lot of change. It's going to get crazy, and it's going to get crazy really, really fast.” In 1965, Gordon Moore, co-founder of Intel, observed that the number of transistors per square inch on integrated circuits had doubled every year since their invention – or, more simply, the processing speed of computer technology is doubling every year. This observation is called Moore’s Law, and 51 years later it still holds true. “It's doing more than giving us really cool gadgets to play with. It's fundamentally changing everything.” Moore’s Law suggests that computer technology experiences exponential growth, which can be hard to comprehend. In The Future of Professions by Daniel & Richard Susskind, they illustrate exponential growth with a simple mental exercise: imagine folding a piece of paper in half over and over and over again (it’s not actually possible to fold a piece of paper more than a few times, but this exercise gives you an idea of what exponential growth looks like). 4 folds = thickness of a credit card 11 folds = thickness of a soda can 21 folds = taller than Big Ben 31 folds = tall enough to reach outer space 43 folds = tall enough to reach the Moon 100 folds = thickness of 8 billion light years “Things are are changing radically, and they're changing for CPA's as well.” CPAs will have to come to terms the fact that computers will outperform them on some tasks, but nothing will change the fact that people will still need accounting services. CPAs need to adapt to new technology and clients’ changing needs, and if you don’t adapt then the generation below you will – so you’ll still be out of a job. The profession will still exist, but CPAs will need entirely new, adaptable skillsets. CPAs will need to be better improvisers. “I'm not here to tell anybody that you have to do this stuff, because you don't, but you also don't have to stay in business.” The young professionals who are going to be leading the CPA profession in a very short period of time are completely comfortable with moving from new technology to new technology, because that's just the way life is for them. The pushback from the old guard is fine and it's not unexpected, and very soon the accounting profession is going to shift to something that's much more capable of embracing new things, just because of the shift in leadership. “If we can get there first, if we can figure out how to become a little bit more future ready and then show our clients and customers how to do that as well, then our role as trusted business advisors just gets stronger.” As Chief Communications Officer, Bill’s philosophy is that the MACPAs needs to be wherever their members are and reach them in whatever way that they like to be reached, and they try to do that across all of the different platforms. By reaching out to their audience and adding value to their social media experience, Bill helps the MACPAs maintain their role as trusted business advisors when information is more available than ever. At CPA Success they write about what members of the MACPA need to know today – breaking news, new standards, etc. At the Business Learning Institute they focus on what might be happening down the road that they should be paying attention to. Similarly, they shared important news on their Twitter feed and engage more personally with their clients on Facebook. I always enjoy sitting down to talk with Bill, and I greatly appreciate him taking the time out of his busy schedule. We’re going to touch bases again on the podcast, in about a year, to see how technology is changing and discuss how we have adapted.
