Simple actions like consciously placing a hand on your heart or hugging yourself can lower your cortisol levels, heart rate, and help you feel less stressed. Our guest tries a practice in self-soothing touch. Link to episode transcript: https://tinyurl.com/2zbykwh6 Episode summary: While reading this, you might be fiddling with your fingers or have a hand resting on your face -– these are examples of self-touch. This week, we are examining the benefits of offering ourselves soothing touches with comedian Calvin Cato. Calvin leads a busy, stressful life. He tried the self-soothing touch practice as a way to better connect with himself. He found that physically caring for himself allowed him to reground his emotions and regulate his stress. To his surprise, the physical sensations also triggered fond childhood memories with his father. Later, we hear from self-compassion and mindfulness expert Aljoscha Dreisoerner about why we evolved to crave touch and how self-touch can be as effective as getting a hug from someone else. Practice: Find a comfortable position to begin the practice. What works for one person might not work for another. Here are some options you can choose from: Place one or both hands on your heart or stomach. Placing your right hand on your heart and the left on your belly while focusing on the rising and falling of the breath. Stroke your arms or cheeks. Place your right hand under your left arm, by the side of the heart. Place your left hand on the top of your right arm. Try the practice you choose for at least twenty seconds. While doing the practice, focus on taking a few deep breaths, drawing attention to the pressure and warmth of your hands. Repeat as many times as you would like. Today on Covid Exposed. Why Would You Ever Trust Our Health Officials & Government Again? Maddie De Garay was a healthy, happy, straight-A student from Ohio who enjoyed life before receiving her second dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine at the age of 12. The now 13-year-old was one of the 2,260 voluntary participants in the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine trial for adolescents that began in July last year. Maddie's mother, Stephanie De Garay joins us to talk about the shocking effects of the vaccine on Maddie's health and the heartless treatment she received. Dr. Jessica Rose has a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics and a Masters in Immunology. She completed her PhD in Computational Biology at Bar Ilan University and then did her first Post Doctorate at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in Molecular Biology. Dr. Rose is challenging the “official” position that the thousands of reported deaths, and hundreds of thousands of adverse events reported to VAERS, are not caused by the COVID vaccines. She is also drawing attention to the most critical effects. Paul DiMattina is a prominent Melbourne identity and General Manager of Lamaro's Hotel in South Melbourne. The Victorian Government's Covid strategy has brought small business to its knees and ripped the heart out of a once vibrant and beautiful city. We talk to Paul about the ongoing restrictions and their impact on Melbourne. Comment: In their desperate rush to vaccinate all adults and eligible children, Governments have taken to demonising the hesitant and mandating vaccinations. In Victoria this week, citizens finally revolted against tyranny, shocking the Victorian Government and its allies. Construction workers and other groups, protesting against mandatory vaccinations and the failure of their leaders to protect them, brought Melbourne to a standstill. The city, filled with riot police and unruly mobs resembled a war zone.  Workers are not taking well to home detention, loss of income and vaccination by coercion. Censorship cannot hide the adverse effects of vaccines. Many in healthcare and emergency services choose resignation over vaccination. Discriminatory vaccine passports have yet to be introduced in Australia but Governments are already warning that many services will not be available to the unvaccinated. Governments waging war against their own citizens and it wont end well.  Covid Exposed on Asia Pacific Today. September 26, 2021 Asia Pacific Today believes that your opinion is legitimate. He grew up attending Seymour Heights Elementary followed by Sentinel Secondary, where he graduated with the Class of 1996 as one of three class Valedictorians and holder of the BC Decathlon title. Tod continued on to take a track scholarship at Simon Fraser University, where he obtained All-American status three times. At SFU, Tod studied Kinesiology and took interest in becoming a physiotherapist.    Growing up and pushing his body to its limits, he had found himself in a physio environment regularly due to a chronic hamstring problem. However, without getting the results he was hoping for, he decided to try a chiropractor – and he got amazing results. It turned out it wasn't his hamstring after all; It was his pelvis putting too much pressure on his hamstring. Inspired by his results, Tod decided he wanted to pursue a Doctorate of Chiropractic, and packed his bags for California where he attended the Southern California University of Health Sciences, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2005.    Tod also obtained a Post-Doctorate certification in the Gonstead System of Analysis and Technique and after practicing in San Diego, California from 2005-2006, he was thrilled to return to his hometown where he founded The Pelly Clinic in April 2007.    Tod is passionate about giving back to communities around the world via Chiropractic. He has volunteered his services for The Ride to end AIDS, and has provided Chiropractic care on several missions to impoverished countries, including El Salvador, Guatemala, Thailand, Laos, and most recently, his mission “A Small Step” in Nepal.    In October 2019, Tod was named 2019 Chiropractor of the Year for North America, awarded by The Master's Circle Global (TMCG).    Dr. Pelly was humbled to be the recipient of this distinguished honour. Outside of the Pelly Clinic, Tod resides in North Vancouver with his wife Julie, son Reid and daughter Kasey. Tod enjoys spending time with family at his cabin at Sakinaw Lake, water skiing, running, hiking, cheering on the Canucks and hitting the slopes on the mountains of the north shore and Whistler. Tod is also an avid soccer player, proudly playing for the NVFC from childhood into his adult years and now coaching his son Reid's team, the NVFC Rangers, as well as his daughter Kasey's team, the NSGSC Wildcats.

Amanda: Hello Everyone, Amanda here (CEO and Co-founder of Bari Better, Inc., where we provide online Bariatric Coaching in English, Spanish and Portuguese), and today, I have the pleasure and honor of interviewing one of our Board Advisors, Dr. Jose Diego Botezelli (he is originally from Brazil, he is now living in Canada, he has a PhD in Physiology and Metabolism, we have been meeting on a weekly basis and today's interview topic is on Bariatric and Exercise. I also like to tell you that Dr. Botezelli prescribes online exercise and nutrition plans and today I have the pleasure to have four segments with him in this interview, and before we get started I would like to talk about Bari Better, where we do not provide any Medical advice and we only provide general Wellness and lifestyle Coaching, we should not be constructive of medical advice and should not replace your consultation or any advice from a Medical professional, so you should not rely on Bari Better or any information provided by Bari Better, Inc. for any Medical decisions and also all the interviews that we perform at Bari Better are for information only and Bari Better, Inc. is not responsible for the information provided by the person being interviewed. So, with that being said, welcome Dr. Botezelli, it is a pleasure to have you with us today. Dr. Botezelli: Thank you so much Amanda! Amanda: I would like to have you introduce yourself and give a little bit more information about your background. Dr. Botezelli: I'm Dr. Botezelli, I have a Bachelor in Kinesiology and a Master and PhD in Physiology and Metabolism. I have a Post Doctorate in Nutrition, Exercise and Metabolism from the University of Campinas in Brazil, and another Post Doctorate in UBC (Canada), where I was studying self Physiology. Now, I have my own company, I help people around the world lose weight. I have clients in Dubai, Ireland, Australia, Brazil, South Africa, England, Italy, Spain, etc. My main strategy is trying to bring new strategies and new habits for people to lose weight in a healthy, reliable and sustainable way. Amanda: That's a great point: healthy, reliable and sustainable way! With all your background and experience, what is the importance of exercising as your routine during your pre-op phase, before you even have a Bariatric surgery? Dr. Botezelli: So, if you are going for a Bariatric surgery, it means you are overweight or obese and the problem with overweight or obese, you have insulin resistance, you have some problems and you have usually bad habits. And when I say bad habits, it is not like judging or something like, but it is not correct habits. So, we need to produce, build new strategies and we also need to improve your overall health. This will help, make your surgery more successful, less complications in the surgery, also doing exercise, specially physical exercise that make you to produce muscle mass, like strength exercise, functional (you can just use your body, you don't need fancy equipments, you don't need to run 10 kilometers per day, just use your body, our body is a pretty massive weight, so we can use our body to do working balance, work coordination, rhythm, work everything), and this will help our muscle mass to get more healthy. When you go for Bariatric surgery, one of the things that happen is that you can lose a lot of weight, but usually this weight is fat and muscle. Starting a workout, exercise routine before the surgery, will allow you to recover the muscle mass faster and also prevent this muscle breakdown that is a huge problem after Bariatric surgery. As we know, around 80% of people who have the Bariatric surgery, they become obese again, they do not reach the same weight, but they become obese again, because you do not change the causes of the obesity. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

She earned her Ph.D. from UCL Institute of Education, University of London. Learning a language creates its own type of anxiety in students. Something that should be seen as a positive opportunity, it often fills students with dread and shame. In fact, foreign language anxiety is a real condition that exists in the same way as math or public speaking anxiety. Students described the full range of anxiety symptoms experienced when they walked into the foreign language class. “I learned a third language, and that's when I started connecting my experience with what I heard the students were saying.“ Upskillable was created to match a person's cognitive personality and skills with jobs. Resumes often do not accurately depict a candidate, reducing the likelihood of success in a role. By taking a personality assessment, candidates are offered more effective assessments of their skillsets and even how to improve in certain areas. ————————————————————————— To learn more about this episode, including podcast transcripts and show notes, visit *salt.org/talks* ( http://salt.org/talks ) Moderated by Anthony Scaramucci.

The Big Frog Custom T-Shirt Franchise Big Frog is a franchise headquartered in sunny Florida. At Big Frog, a customer can go into one of their 67 locations and sit down with a graphic designer/artist that will customize a t-shirt exactly how you want it. Whether you are looking for a single t-shirt or a large quantity, the direct-to-garment printing process can easily achieve the custom design anyone may looking for. "Business is a science and science is a business". - The Big Frog, Leeward Bean. The Big Frog experience is based on three things: Choose: We have apparel and gifts for men, women, kids and infants. Pick what you want to print on, choose your colors and sizes and get ready to have some fun! Create: This is where our creativity really shines through. Our talented artists will work with you at our in-store design station to create a custom message and/or full color graphic to your exact specifications. Experiment with colors, fonts and graphics to get just the look you want. With our advanced printing technology, the sky’s the limit on what you can do. Celebrate: Most orders can be ready in just one day.* Now that’s cause for celebration. After getting to know Leeward, Tina (even though she has her PhD, she asked me to call her Tina), and Ron, I understand why they have been so successful. Their philosophy in business is made up of a friendly culture based on experience, trust and fun. At first glance, one may think, hmmmm, T-shirts? Once you listen to the show, hear their story, and understand how the leadership team at Big Frog operates, no one will question the unique business in which Big Frog is based on. Unlike many success stories you may have heard of in the past, the Big Frog story is quite unique. The founders all have a background in science. How can a group of successful science buffs turn to direct-to-garment printing after working in the field of fiber optic spectrophotometers? In their words... fun. While Leeward was fishing one day he received a call from Ron and Tina asking him about a unique business opportunity. To get the details, you'll have to listen to the show, but to make this story short, Leeward decided to come out of retirement after attending a trade show and the rest, as they say, is history. Leeward, Tina and Ron have all worked together previously and so they new each other's strengths and weaknesses. This allowed them to work together on this new venture and enjoy the fact they had a previous relationship. As they worked through the challenges of launching this business, they developed a franchise system that continues to grow. They've been asked to speak at various events on their success and want to continue growing the business of direct-to-garment t-shirt printing. Meet the Big Frog Leadership Team Leeward J. Bean: Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer Leeward was a founder and Vice President, Sales and Marketing of Ocean Optics, Inc. located in Dunedin, Florida. Ocean Optics, Inc. is a world leader in fiber optic spectrophotometers; an analytical instrument used for measuring light. The Company was acquired by Halma Holdings Inc. in 2004 for $50 million. In 1990 Mr. Bean left Polaroid Corporation in Cambridge, Massachusetts after 15 years, as Director Worldwide Business Imaging. Leeward started his business career in 1971 with Burroughs Corporation in St. Petersburg, Florida as a Systems Sales Engineer. Mr. Bean holds a BS degree in Computer Sciences from Jones College, Jacksonville, FL. Dr. Christina P. Bacon/DeFrece: Founder, Executive Vice President and Chief Communications Officer Tina was Director of Sensor Development at Ocean Optics, Inc., from 2000 to 2005. Additionally, she worked her Post-Doctorate at Constellation Technology in Largo, FL focusing on chemical agent detection. In both positions, Tina researched, developed and marketed the new technologies to the government, businesses and universities.
