If your view of the technology that drives the human resources end of business is mostly hiring, firing and time off management, your head would have been spinning at the HR Tech conference that just wrapped up. Analyst Conner Forrest was there and joined host Eric Hanselman to look at not only the highlights of the conference, but also his recent research and market explorations. It's an area that has seen dramatic transformation, as organizations work to manage their internal capabilities with one of their most valuable assets, their employees. Analytics now play a much greater role in many aspects of management. People analytics can address performance management to gauge and guide team effectiveness. It's grown into employee experience analysis, as organizations look to manage and retain key talents and skills. Using intelligent skills gap analysis can strengthen training programs, particularly when it becomes part of employee growth planning. When it's done right, investing in employee experience can also improve customer experience. HR tech is another market where there is a tension between integrated analytical functionality and standalone products. The recent HR tech Market Monitor looks at shifts in growth, startup opportunities and market dynamics. Larger players want to maintain a platform advantage and newcomers are trying to carve out their own niche. There are a host of possibilities to improve performance, culture and employee focus. [SEGMENT 1-1] Out with the old 1 Typewriter Slide projector Burn barrel Landlines Traditional alarm [SEGMENT 1-2] Out with the old 2 When Black people lost our traditions, we started on the downhill slide as a people. Paper takeout menus Phone books Telephone answering machines Rolodex Manuel carpet sweeper Here's the one you may not have realize… JOE BIDEN Joe Biden has been on an almost permanent vacation since he was deposed by the Democrats. And now Democrats have a single focus: cheat Harris into office. AG Garland warned people about protesting against the next cheat. What are the things Leftists no longer use? Their brains Common sense Critical thinking Deductive reasoning Can you imagine living in their minds, trying to make sense of their lives. Have you heard them describe their genders? [SEGMENT 1-3] Out with the old 3 Democrats want us to GET RID OF OUR OLD. We've been warned. Kamala Harris is FORMIDDABLE. UNBEATABLE. Ask yourself these questions: Why did the FBI or some 3-letter organization try to KILL TRUMP? And why are they still trying to get him in court? Check out this delusion: [X] SB – Scott Jennings… Harris campaign trolling Trump. Needling him. Playing offense. Trump zero for one. Traded in for a better candidate. Do y Democrats don't know when to stop digging their graves. A few years back, they had Trump on the ropes and they blew it. And they keep on doing it. The recent coup of Joe Biden caused a slight bump in their ambitions, as Democrats appointed Kamala Harris as their Great Indian-Wait-No-She's-Black Hope. But whatever bump they may have gotten, it's gone. And now Trump continues his surge. Any bump in Trump's numbers causes sheer panic for Democrats, which is why we get this news: Tuesday afternoon Democrat hack Special Counsel Jack Smith filed a superseding indictment in the 2020 Election case in D.C. District Court. Special counsel Jack Smith on Tuesday filed a superseding indictment in the election interference case against former President Donald Trump, slimming down the allegations against the 2024 presidential nominee in light of the Supreme Court's immunity ruling. Prosecutors have not dropped any of the four charges that they initially brought against the former president. However, the newly retooled indictment has carved out some of Trump's alleged conduct, including allegations about the attempts to use the Justice Department to promote his false claims of election fraud. The case will go nowhere. But that would never stop a Leftist from trying to do his or her part to keep Trump out of office. In this case, the disgraced prosecutor implies that he knows more than the SCOTUS judges who dismissed his previous case. Truthfully, Smith has a horrible record as a prosecutor, likely because he doesn't appear to concern himself with facts. The retooled indictment supposedly addresses raised by the Supreme Court's rulings in Fischer v. USA (re: the interpretation of 18 U.S.C. § 1512(c)) and Trump v. USA (on presidential immunity). I didn't bother to look at the details of this case because I know that Jack Smith is targeting Trump. Trump Sends a Thank You Note to Jack Smith If he hasn't done it already, Trump should send a "Thank you!" note to Jack Smith. Because every time Smith or some other Leftist thug comes after Trump, Trump's popularity and fundraising soars. But getting Trump is that important for Leftists, because they can't run the risk that doctoring the voting machine and relying on mail-in vote will be enough. [SEGMENT 1-4] Out with the old 4 [X] SB – Trump's SOTU to Dr Phil Safe country, wealthy, schools $85B in Afghanistan Did you see Harris recreate Trump coming down the escalator, only she led and her eunuch of a husband followed. Truly a “Bizarro World” picture as she tried to mock MAGA. Do you feel the undercurrent of the Trump voters? We are told that Trump is SCARED. Since WHEN have you seen Trump scared. [X] SB – Trump on Milley The debate has been solidified. And I can hardly wait. I only hope I'm not traveling.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-kevin-jackson-show--2896352/support.
Novel technologies aren't interesting to Rahul Kakkar, M.D. unless they help patients. Sounds rational, but it's actually a unique perspective in a platform-crazed biotech industry. Dr. Kakkar's worldview is shaped by his work as a physician—work he continues at Brigham and Women's Hospital even as he builds Tome Biosciences, where he serves as President & CEO. Tome, which is developing programmable genomic integration technology, is the latest of Dr. Kakkar's entrepreneurial efforts—he previously led Pandion Therapeutics to a $1.85B acquisition by Merck and Cordivia to a $2.1B acquisition by Novo Nordisk. On this episode of the Business of Biotech, Dr. Kakkar shares why he took on the brainchild of two MIT scientists under his wing, the nascent inflection point for gene editing therapy, how his work as a physician informs his biotech leadership, biopharma's bad rap, and a whole lot more. *) Live blog: US sending Patriots to Ukraine under $1.85B military aid package US President Joe Biden has committed $1.85 billion in military aid to Ukraine including, for the first time, the Patriot missile defence system. The news came as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Washington for his first known trip out of his country since Russia started its assault in February. The Patriot would be the most advanced surface-to-air missile system the West has provided to Ukraine to help repel Russian aerial attacks. *) Israel's Netanyahu says he formed new coalition government Israel's Prime Minister-designate Benjamin Netanyahu has announced that he has formed a new coalition, setting the stage for him to return to power as the head of the country's most right wing government ever. Netanyahu intends to give cabinet positions to hardline figures, including extremist politician Itamar Ben-Gvir, who has a long record of violent anti-Arab rhetoric and behaviour. The announcement comes after weeks of difficult negotiations with his political partners. *) Desperate migrants throng US-Mexico border amid asylum limbo The US Supreme Court has temporarily blocked an order that would lift pandemic-era restrictions on asylum seekers. The policy, called Title 42, was due to expire on December 21st, and allows authorities to send migrants of certain nationalities to Mexico without a chance to seek asylum. Immigration advocates have said the restrictions go against international obligations to people fleeing persecution, and that the pretext is outdated as coronavirus treatments improve. *) Chicken tikka masala inventor dies at 77 A chef from Scotland, who claims to have invented the curry dish chicken tikka masala, has died at the age of 77. Ahmed Aslam Ali invented the dish in the 1970s by improvising a sauce made from a tin of tomato soup at his restaurant Shish Mahal after a customer complaint. The dish went on to become the most popular dish in British restaurants.

ServiceNow's Q3 subscription revenue came in at $1.742B, representing 22% growth year-over-year but lower than the expected $1.85B. ServiceNow also lowered their full year subscription revenue guidance from a midpoint of $6.92B to a midpoint of $6.86B, while maintaining an expected subscription gross margin of 86%. ServiceNow now has 1,530 customers paying them over $1M per year, with the average annual spend among that group coming in at $4M. Eighteen of the top 20 deals in the quarter contained 5 or more products, which is another key metric for ServiceNow because it demonstrates their ability to sell a wide set of solutions to their customers, especially solutions outside of the core Technology Workflows product set like Employee, Customer and Creator. This week’s Alpha Trader podcast features hosts Aaron Task and Stephen Alpher talking cannabis investing with Todd Harrison, founding partner and CIO of CB1 Capital. “2021 will be remembered as the year [cannabis] emerged as a legitimate and powerful asset class,” wrote Harrison recently. The bull case for U.S. cannabis, he says, rests with the legalization wave - not just in the states, but at the federal level where the Blue Wave means a far more favorable regulatory environment. If Cannabis 1.0 was the Canadian cultivation boom (think [[APHA]], [[CGC]], [[TLRY]]), and Cannabis 2.0 is the jump in U.S. retail operations thanks to state-by-state legalization (think of the multi-state operators), then Cannabis 3.0 - cannabis as medicine - will come thanks to the Blue Wave that just hit D.C. That friendlier national regulatory environment also likely means U.S. operators as able to list their stocks on the major exchanges, thus opening them up to institutional investment. Late last summer, Harrison wrote about the FANGificiation of U.S. cannabis - a group of Cannabis 2.0 stocks similar to the four horsemen of the late 90s (Intel, Dell, Microsoft, Cisco) and then the more recent Facebook, Amazon, Netflix, Google. In no particular order: Curaleaf (CURLF), Green Thumb Industries (GTBIF), Trulieve (TCNNF), and Cresco (CRLBF). A big rally since means these are no longer growth names at value multiples, but Harrison remains a fan. That doesn’t mean there aren’t other quality U.S. operators, and Harrison notes ones like Terrascend (TRSSF), Columbia Care (CCHWF), and 4Front Ventures (FFNTF). An estimated total addressable market of $85B by 2030 means there’s plenty of room for all to succeed. As for the Cannabis 1.0 names, Harrison will trade them, but he prefers to own the 2.0 players. There’s plenty more, including why Cannabis 3.0 could mean treatment for a wide range or serious diseases and thus a market opportunity far in excess of Cannabis 2.0. Crystal Etienne is Founder of femtech apparel company Ruby Love, a line of innovative, leak-proof period underwear and bathing suits. Ruby Love recently secured $15M in funding after an initial Series A of $8M -- the fourth-largest round ever for a company founded by a black woman.Of the $85B of venture funding generated in the U.S. last year, female founders represented just 2.2%, with only 0.2% going to companies led by black women. Rather than feeling defeated by these statistics, Crystal ignored them -- channeling her energy into her passion for designing apparel that would empower girls and women and help to destigmatize menstruation. By doing so, she was able to bootstrap Ruby Love (formerly PantyProp) with an initial investment of just $25,000 to bring in $10M in sales in less than 4 years. With patented technology for comfortable and reliable period apparel, Crystal is expanding her product line into activewear and loungewear as she continues to scale her company. New technologies are constantly being developed to make people’s lives easier, but there are certain apps that stick out from the rest. What makes a specific app or technology a household name? Can the apps like Uber be used to benefit the mortgage industry? On this episode, innovator and entrepreneur, Alex Kutsishin, shares how we can leverage evolving tech in the mortgage industry and look for new opportunities. Don’t think about the products you’re selling. Think about the experience your customers would want- Alex Kutsishin Resources Take your mortgage business to the next level. Visit nextlevello.com for more information. Click here to schedule your free no-obligation Next Level Coaching Call: https://nextlevello.com/schedule Three Things We Learned From This Episode Customer Intelligence (05:24- 06:11)Customer intelligence works because it creates connections with the users of certain technologies. Using the examples of Uber and Amazon, Alex highlights that each of these focus on building relationships with their customers. This creates a loyalty based on more than enjoying the product: there is an element of love involved. Evolution, Not Revolution (07:49- 08:21)Technology assisting people with daily modern life should be seen as evolutionary, and as what was meant to happen. We need to think of advancements as something of a norm, and something entirely necessary for businesses to thrive in a world with rapidly evolving technology. Remember- the tools for our advancement are within our reach! Technology and People (08:41- 09:15)The technology used to assist people should never impede on human life. Rather, it should compliment it. This means allowing machines to do their jobs. However, that doesn’t mean humans should be eliminated from the process. On the contrary, the most successful technology has a human side to it. The world in which we live has rapidly evolving technology, and it would be a shame for industries across the board to not take full advantage. With that said, it’s always important to remember that the users of technology remain human beings. As such, advancements should always be developed with the user in mind. Guest Bio- Alex is an innovator and entrepreneur. His expertise is in marketing, digital communication and technology. In 2011 Alex launched the nations first code free mobile development software which he sold at the end of 2014. After the buyout he consulted for one of the top business intelligence companies which sold 2 years ago for over $100M. He then consulted for one mortgage industry's best marketing companies which is where he got the idea for his new venture -- Sales Boomerang, the first fully automated Borrower Intelligence software that tells lenders when a prospect or past customer is ready for a loan. In just 17 months they have discovered over $7.85B in missed loan volume for more than 40 of the top lenders in the industry and they are on track to triple in size by the end of next year.
