Today, Darker Lighter — the captivating project of Los Angeles-based songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Salar Rajabnik is releasing his highly anticipated self-titled debut record. Recorded at the legendary Studio 606 with Grammy-nominated producer and engineer Robert Adam Stevenson (Paul McCartney, Queens of the Stone Age, The Kills, Jeff Beck), Rajabnik brings years of experience from behind the scenes in the indie rock and post-punk worlds. With a resume that includes collaborations with icons like Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, and Kim Gordon, Rajabnik now steps fully into his own sound.Darker Lighter is Rajabnik's cathartic exploration of loss, heartbreak, identity, isolation, and political unrest — a deeply personal and emotionally charged debut. Following the singles “Nice To Meet You” and “Open Up, Sunshine,” the album arrives today alongside the release of the focus track, “Be.”Performing every instrument himself, “Be” is a richly layered and evocative track, blending heavy guitar riffs with a soaring string arrangement. Rajabnik's lyrics—“you're on your own, you should have known” and “living in a house won't make it home”—echo the album's central themes of longing, disconnection, and the elusive search for belonging. It's a poignant reflection on the age-old truth: wherever you go, there you are.Salar Rajabnik (Darker Lighter) on the track, "“Be” is one of the most deeply personal songs i've ever written. It's about a feeling I get often; which is that I find myself feeling out of place. Whether ideologically, artistically or socially, often due to being unwilling to compromise my identity or principles. Themes of biculturalism, socio-political alienation, the fallout and consequences of activism and more influenced the meaning of the tune. The ultimate conclusion of the song is that “The price you pay is who you have to be."

“If anything, it's three 7's…and one of them has a line in the middle…”   This episode is effectively “nonverbal” in that it contains zero lyrics and is truly beyond words (so to speak). That's right, it's all about INSTRUMENTALS and it just so happens that they come in a wide variety of styles and options.    On a studio album, INSTRUMENTALS are 7enerally either lon7er, extended, standalone musical arran7ements, or brief interludes which serve as a brid7e between two son7s. In a live scenario, INSTRUMENTALS are a 7reat opportunity that allows the vocalist time to take a brief break and enjoy some “ori7ami” and poon while the rest of the band continues to jam. Either way, INSTRUMENTALS offer instrumentalists a chance to express themselves musically in a way that truly transcends the power of the written word.   Be sure to radically adjust your expectations whenever someone says “I'm gonna send you a file” and prepare yourself for a macrodose of happiness that is sure to transpire, especially if your brain “has to fix it” (and particularly if you “want it from the train”). AJ's treatment and recovery has gone amazingly well, but he's still got work to do. This morning, Chaz and AJ shared the next steps he's taking. (0:00) The senior assassins game is not new, but did make local headlines after a building was put in lockdown protocol in Guilford. Chaz and AJ spoke with a parent, Curt, who wanted to warn students about the dangers of the game. Maddie, a senior student from another town, was also on the phone to share how her classmates are enjoying the game with some safety stipulations. (7:33)  Detective Martin Podsiad from the New Haven Police Dept., was in studio with Chaz and AJ this morning. He shared a bit about his career as a detective, his strength as an interviewer, and the RICO case they aced thanks to a collaborator at the top of the crime syndicate. (14:50)  The New York Knicks still have a lead over the Boston Celtics, but it has not been easy. Comedian Paul Virzi, a huge Knicks fan, was on the phone this morning to share the intense anxiety he's had throughout the series. (35:32)  Live Nation's Jimmy Koplik addressed the very recent news from the Foo Fighters, who announced a live show later this year, and then he teased a replacement announcement for 3 Doors Down on the Creed tour. "Sprinter" The Florida-born Cat Ridgeway is speeding into national prominence. Or, to be more specific, she's sprinting there. Ridgeway's new album Sprinter is an adrenalized blast of hook-filled rock and roll, howling blues and scruffy pop that's one of the most refreshing listens of the year. A commanding presence with charisma to burn, Ridgeway, along with her band the Tourists, are full of a howling punk-rock electricity that summons everyone from the White Stripes to the Foo Fighters. Now Ridgeway is a self-taught musician who plays harmonica, trumpet, trombone, mandolin, bass, piano and guitar and that's incredibly impressive, but having spoken to her, she has an autodidact streak that runs through her life. Hence the reference I made to coffee earlier, but I'll let Cat tell you all about that. Named Orlando's Best Singer-Songwriter for the last three years, Ridgeway has played with Houndmouth, Arcade Fire and Lucy Dacus and she's no stranger to playing music festivals around the country. She's a typhoon of positive energy and you're going to love her. www.catridgewaymusic.com (http://www.catridgewaymusic.com) www.stereoembersmagazine.com www.bombshellradio.com (http://www.bombshellradio.com) www.alexgreenbooks.com (http://www.alexgreenbooks.com) Stereo Embers Bluesky + IG: @emberspodcast Email: editor@stereoembersmagazine.com

1995 was a transitional year for what was known as “Alternative” music, as it started to become a melting pot of old and new styles in the post grunge world. Bands like Foo Fighters and Bush carried a little of the old grunge ideals, but with a more radio friendly style. Britpop and electronic based music started to become very popular. Huge albums from Alannis Morissette and The Smashing Pumpkins showed that songs about introspection, melody and evolution could be wildly popular. Also, with alternative bands having huge album sale numbers, Grammy wins and heavy rotation on MTV, the word alternative started to seem ironic. Alternative or indie rock had become mainstream and everyone had access, from angsty teens to their parents. Regardless of what it was called, the rock music of 1995 was still awesome. Call it alternative, or indie, or just rock. There was a plethora of styles, singers and bands to choose from and they were all very memorable. So this week we're making a 1995 alternative playlist of our favorites from a great year. So strap on your Doc Martens and fire up your favorite CD on your detachable face car stereo and let's jam out to some awesome music.   Pandora: https://pandora.app.link/iq8iShjXOLb Apple: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/totally-80s-and-90s-recall/id1662282694  Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/11dk5TUoLUk4euD1Te1EYG?si=b37496eb6e784408  Amazon Music: https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/1960c8f9-158d-43ac-89a6-d868ea1fe077/totally-80s-and-90s-recall  YouTube Podcasts: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLH9lGakNgCDZUkkHMUu88uXYMJu_33Rab&si=xo0EEVJRSwS68mWZ   Playlists: Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/29XHlO0030iUUOBErgMunD?si=FeTrOqFPSdGXREvpC2W9PA  Apple: https://music.apple.com/us/playlist/1995-alternative/pl.u-JPAZzKGIW5r8gY?ls Amazon: https://music.amazon.com/user-playlists/1984a9049a68452890517d1a3d91f121sune?marketplaceId=ATVPDKIKX0DER&musicTerritory=US&ref=dm_sh_9qtmxa9oKLhm9pOyYgb1DcCkZ   Contact Us: Website: https://totally80s90srecall.podbean.com/  Email: 80s90srecall@gmail.com LinkTree:https://linktr.ee/80s90srecall

"Dance With Me" The married Michigan duo of Annagail are hard to categorize because of their startling musical range. With The Smiths, Steve Earle, Emmylou Harris and The Foo Fighters, Annagail's running through their musical DNA, Jared and Jennifer aren't afraid of a folk song or a pop song or a blues song or a roots song. It's fair to say that they're not afraid of anything. More on that in a minute. Filled with aching harmonies, wistful ballads, tender country and infectious hooks, Annagail, who used to operate under the moniker Route Three, may be tough to pin down in terms of genre, so it's easier to simply say they're brilliant at what they do and they do all of it. Jared and Jennifer have a musical symbiosis that's undeniable and profound and a tenth of their personal challenges would be enough to keep someone on the sidelines forever, but not these two. They've not only survived a list of hardships--and I'll let the interview cover that material, but just so you get an idea of how long and serious that list is, we didn't even cover the fire that destroyed their home and and studio--they've emerged from the darkness bursting with light. I'm not joking. But that word joking might be the key here; they have a sense of humor that has allowed them to navigate the trials they've encountered with perspective and wisdom and grace. I love this band. And not only is this a cool chat because they're open and lovely people, it's cool because we've caught them emerging from yet another scary moment with a renewed commitment to their craft. In many ways, this might be the most prolific period in the band's history. In fact, they have so many new albums, I'm not even sure what their latest one is. All I know is their music smolders with soulful resolve, sweeping momentum and harmonic and narrative poise. This is a wonderful chat with truly wonderful people. www.annagail.net (http://www.a) www.stereoembersmagazine.com (http://www.stereoembersmagazine.com) www.bombshellradio.com (http://www.bombshellradio.com) www.alexgreenbooks.com (http://www.alexgreenbooks.com) Stereo Embers IG + BLUESKY: @emberspodcast Email: editor@stereoembersmagazine.com

Every now and then we like to Rewind to one of our favorite episodes, normally when one of us is too ill to record or has gone on vacation. At least one of those things has happened this week so we bring you one of our all time favorite episodes...Brian, Blake, and Richard were joined by a special guest for this episode of Chasing Tone Rewound - Chris Shiflett of the Foo Fighters...We have an extra special guest this week and Brian may or may not fanboy a little bit. It is of course Chris Shiflett who is a monster player with a huge back catalogue of work - including playing in one of Brian's favorite bands, the Foo Fighters. Chris has some very cool new music coming out and also has his own podcast, Walking The Floor, and we talk about some of his escapades including a rare first hand peek into international tour bus life.Chris is a super nice dude, and his stories are absolutely fascinating. The guys talk about how Blake first discovered his music. They also go deep into Chris' love of classic rock and roll, and country music, and the influences that drove him to explore country based rock further. The guys then go right back to Chris' roots and his teenage years and find out all about his earliest tastes and influences and his signature Fender guitar. Conversation turns to his different rigs and then pedals...Brian may have found his new happy place amongst all this Foo tinged pedal talk.Chris has an idea for a custom delay pedal, and gives the guys an entertaining demonstration, and it just so happens Brian knows a guy. As well as being a fantastic player and all round legend, Chris loves football, sorry "soccer", and Richard and he share a love for the same football team so speak in what Blake and Brian can only describe as a completely foreign language. Brian's head spins, and he has fallen in love with one of Chris' solo songs "Born & Raised" so plays a little clip which instantly wins Blake over too. Right at the end Chris gives us some absolute golden insights into his songwriting process which is worth the admission fee itself. This is a special episode and the team hope you enjoy it and would like to say a huge thanks to Chris for coming on - go check out his new music! There may be a swear or two in this but heck - that's rock and roll baby!Van Life, Thierry Henry, The Stone Roses, Glaser mods, Panning Tremelo, Custom Chris Shiflett Delay pedal, Mopey minor keys...it's all in this week's Chasing Tone!Check out Chris Shiflett's music here and his Podcast Here and look for him on TikTok, kids!We are on Patreon now too!Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/chasingtonepodcast)Awesome Merch and DIY mods:https://modyourownpedal.com/collections/booksFind us at:https://www.wamplerpedals.com/https://www.instagram.com/WamplerPedals/https://www.facebook.com/groups/wamplerfanpage/Youtube:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdVrg4Wl3vjIxonABn6RfWwContact us at: podcast@wamplerpedals.comSupport the show
