Struggling to stay positive? Discover a simple trick to boost your mood anytime, anywhere. In this episode, creative entrepreneur, author, and former spacecraft designer Aliki Samone shares a mindfulness routine that will leave you feeling relaxed and energized. Try her 3-minute practice that focuses on getting in touch with what's going on inside you on a mental, physical, and spiritual level – and experience the life-changing power of presence. Here are some power takeaways from today's conversation: Aliki's three-phase approach to choosing happiness The mind-body-spirit exercise How to shift your perspective to fully live in the moment Setting a daily alarm to check in with yourself [02:09] Aliki Samone's Three-Phase Approach to Choosing Happiness Aliki discusses three phases in your approach to choosing happiness: mental tools, planning techniques, and execution habits. Get into a good mood so you can live your best life and make those plans for the future by focusing first on the mental tools. [02:32] The Mind-Body-Spirit Exercise Aliki suggests asking yourself these three questions as part of the mind-body-spirit exercise: What is my mind feeling like right now? - Are you feeling anxious, stressed, calm, joyful? What does my body feel like right now? - Are there tensions, pains, or areas of discomfort? A relaxed, energized body often indicates a relaxed mindset as well. What is my spirit telling me? - The spirit represents one's soul, passion, and purpose. It leads to reconnecting with inner wisdom and strength. [06:38] Shifting Your Perspective to Fully Live in the Moment Once you've checked in with your current mental, physical, and emotional state through the mind-body-spirit exercise, Aliki recommends learning from the present experience. Take a deep breath, smile, and ask yourself: "What's an awesome thing I can do today?" or "What's an awesome way I can change my mindset?" [07:25] Setting a Daily Alarm for Self-Reflection Setting an alarm is a good way to practice the mind-body-spirit exercise. Choose a calming sound to go off once or multiple times per day at set times as a reminder to pause activities. Then spend a few minutes reflecting on your current mental, physical, and emotional state through asking the three key questions. This helps you build the routine of self-awareness and mood monitoring as a daily habit over time. Notable quotes: [02:09] A good mood will lead you to your best life. [02:12] [05:36] Your spirit is this connection between your heart and your soul – and that is where your passion and your fire for life grows. [05:46] [06:38] Learn from the now, live in the moment, and take a deep breath. Smile, and ask yourself, what's an awesome thing I can do today or an awesome way I can change my mindset so that I am in the best mood? Will is a certified professional coach who is passionate about the personal development of himself and others. Will spent 20 years as a personal trainer and was growing increasingly frustrated supporting people on the outer work only. Now, as a coach, Will has been able to leverage his ability to connect, with his compassion, in a way that significantly serves others. Will's clients have shared that he has been able to create spaces where they can truly get to the bottom of what's holding them back and ultimately be at the choice to release what's heavy – whether it's guilt, obligation, or self-doubt. From there, they take action to step into life feeling driven, confident, and motivated. On a personal note, he has benefited from the exact processes and experiences he shares and creates for his clients. He is grateful to be able to do the very work with his clients that have provided the learning and growth that has also served him. Psychology has spanned over a hundred years now. First, there was Pavlov's theory of classical conditioning where humans are triggered by certain stimuli. Then there's the concept of cognitive behavior where one's emotions are said to be influenced by the mind. Now, we are on this third wave of human psychological evolution, which is the mind, body, and spirit connection. The mind, body, and spirit connection is this idea that the mind, body, and spirit are all connected – and that mindfulness has a significant place in the acceptance and compassion that we can feel towards ourselves. Therefore, we can heal our bodies from diseases by listening to our bodies and our intuition for the signals they provide. And if we just learn to listen to them, we can discover the seat of our energies. Spiritual guide and Psychedelic Assisted Therapy (PAT) facilitator, Austin Mao, joins us today to talk more about the mind, body, and spirit connection, as well as the role of psychedelics in achieving such connection. Austin is an integration coach, and the Founder of Ceremonia, a startup church that is on a mission to bring consciousness to the world through the intentional application of psychedelics and psychotherapy. In this episode, you will hear: The 3 waves of psychology The mind-body-spirit connection Practices you can do to connect the mind-body-spirit Tapping into your intuition or non-linear thinking The power of meditation Four questions to access the spirit through the mind The role of psychedelic-assisted therapy Subscribe and Review Have you subscribed to our podcast? Happy New Year! I am so excited about the possibilities of 2022 because I have really been working on my stress levels. Yes, 2020 and 2021 were stressful years, and 2022 promises to be somewhat stressful as well. The question is how do we move forward in 2022 and leave the impact of stress behind in 2021. Studies have shown that one way to alleviate the impact of stress on your body is through Yoga and Meditation. There are many benefits of meditation and yoga and that is what Denise Perry and I talk about in this 1st episode of the year. We cover the following topics · Benefits of yoga · Benefits of meditation · How both can alleviate stress and anxiety · The different forms of yoga and how to start Tune in and get some great tips on how to reduce your stress and increase your relaxation for 2022. Denise Perry Bio Initially, Denise started her yoga journey as a way to exercise. Before she knew it, coming to her mat became a time for herself. Even though there have been times over the years that she did not practice the poses, Denise always practiced yoga thru meditation and pranayama, breathwork. It was a spiritual experience as she used meditation to center, learn about herself, and accept the things she saw. Denise loves the saying that “yoga is an exploration of self, by the self, into the self.” She can see how different parts of her journey over the years relate to that exploration. The exploration is something that never ends. A person only has to begin. Part of the reason Denise wanted to become a yoga teacher was to help others begin their journey. As a teacher, she hopes to help students grow and find at least a few moments of connection while on the mat. Denise holds a BA in Communications and Media Studies and is RYT 500 Yoga Alliance certified. She has also studied coaching, Reiki, and meditation and currently taking an advanced Meditation Teacher Training course. She loves to teach Gentle Flow, Restorative, Yin, and Yoga Nidra. She lives in North Carolina with her two cats, Iris and Jem and is the Studio Director/Owner of Yoga Nook in Chesapeake, VA. Denise looks forward to being a part of your journey. Today on the podcast we're talking about all things health, the mind, body, spirit connection and why it's so important to focus on all three. We're also talking about how to start creating “to be" lists and stop creating “to do“ lists. To do lists are great and they have a place, but when we're talking about goals or New Year's resolutions, it's much better to craft an image or a vision of who you want to be or become instead of what you want to do or accomplish. We also go a little deep with scientific studies on our physical health and I dip my pinky toe into my thoughts surrounding the pandemic… That's right I'm going there. Season 2 Episode 3 - Tranquility & Peace of Mind the Importance of the Mind-Body-Spirit Connection with Tara Aytes Tara discovers that mind-body-spirit wellness incorporates not only physical but also mental and spiritual well-being. To be "healthy," we must consider all three characteristics. The mind-body-spirit connection is based on the idea that we are more than our thoughts. Our bodies, emotions, and spirituality are all part of who we are... All of these factors come together to give us our identities, determine our health, and define who we are. In this episode, Tara discuss 05:02 Some people are doing it for spiritual, mental, some it's just professional, but it always ends up push your being because you can't really heal one part of you without another weakness showing up 07:52 Our bodies are trained to heal ourselves, but we've got to give it the fuel and the ingredients and treat it the right way so that it can do that. 09:38 If anyone ever wants to inform themselves of power versus force by Dr. David Hawkins, it'll tell you the different vibration levels of your feelings, your feelings, and then your thoughts. 10:25 And then if you are below a level of 200, you are always self-sabotaging yourself. And that's just ranging from fear, doubt, grief, shame, anger. 11:10 We all have thoughts. Don't try to fight it. I accept it. It's okay. Because when you fight it is when it's going to keep happening. Today we’re talking about morning routines. And it’s kind of funny, we're actually not talking about this because it's something that I do all the time, but because it's something that I know I need to start doing more! I'm currently super inconsistent with my morning routine, and that gets even worse when I have a busy week or month where we're doing a lot of launches. I tend to just totally fall off the wagon and check my phone first thing in the morning even though I know it's bad. But it's really hard! It really is hard to develop a good routine or ritual first thing in the morning… even when you know it’s really important for jump-starting your day in a positive way. So, if you're like me, you've heard tons of really successful people talking about their morning routines. Maybe you've even tried your own morning routine and fallen off the wagon… or maybe you're looking for a way to change it up because your current routine feels boring. Either way, we're talking all about that today and we're going to look at three of my favorite influencers and their morning routines which can hopefully give you some inspiration for your own. So... let's start by talking about why morning routines are such a hot topic right now. The main appeal of morning routines is that they basically inject stability straight into your day. Which makes your work easier… and your life easier. When you're busy with life, with your business, with your family -- your life can fill with busy-ness and lose meaning. Taking scheduled time every day to re-center yourself and focus on your values and what's important to you is really powerful. It makes sure that you’re prioritizing the things you want to prioritize, and you're not just getting caught up in the grind of work. Which as entrepreneurs is really easy for us. It's super easy to get wrapped up in everything that needs to get done and not make time for yourself. But by creating a morning routine that focuses on your values and what's important to you, you're ensuring that you're keeping certain things sacred in your life. You're making time for yourself. You're staying grounded in the meaning and the purpose of why you're really here. If you don’t have a morning ritual, it’s really easy to put off mindfulness and mind/body focus. So having one allows you to fully show up for the rest of the day. And if you heard my recent episode on having a fucked up brain -- which I’ll link in the show notes -- you know that stability can make a huge difference in your mental health as well. Especially with online businesses, where you can feel like you're always online, giving your brain that space to reset and focus is really powerful for your overall health. It helps you to not build stress. So without further ado… I want to talk about the morning routines of 3 of my favorite influencers, women who are insanely successful, to see what they’re doing to start their days off right. Gala DarlingLet’s start with one of my personal favorite influencers, Gala Darling. If you don't know Gala Darling, she's a best-selling author and speaker whose business is built around radical self love. She’s also a big fan of EFT Tapping, which, if you don’t know what that means, is an emotional psychology technique that balances your energy. So, Gala Darling has written that she’s definitely fallen off the wagon with morning routines. Which is super relatable. But in her morning routine, she tries to wake up at 7:30 or earlier. Does some gentle stretching and then half an hour of exercise before she showers and gets pretty for the day. And then makes a healthy smoothie that she takes with her vitamins as she starts checking her emails and getting into the workflow. She also takes time in the mornings to set intentions for the day in her journal. And Gala Darling has said that what she doesn't do is just as important as what she does in her morning routine. Like, sleeping in until 10 or 11 just doesn't do it for her, because she knows that she gets her best work done first thing in the morning. But the most important thing for her? Start your day off by raising your vibration to one of joy and excitement. The only rule she has for morning routines is it has to feel good and it has to be focused on you, not other people. So, no Instagram scrolling. She recommends meditating, singing, working out, stretching, journaling, and a gratitude practice. The best part is, you can change it up! Do whatever you want to do on that day. As long as you're taking time to focus on yourself and positivity, you’re starting your day off right. Jasmine StarrJasmine Star is an entrepreneur and photographer who specializes in social media and branding. You might've heard her before on her podcast, the Jasmine Star Show, or seen her around Instagram. Jasmine has a really incredible story about how she got to where she is right now, but all you really need to know is that she is super successful, and she says she gets her best work done first thing in the morning. So Jasmine had said that she wakes up every morning at 4:30 AM. Which sounds really early. But she knows she's a slow starter, and because she never hops out of bed like, ‘hey world, here I am!’, she knows that she needs a lot of time in the morning to just sit and be and get ready for the day. Because what do you need to optimize your mornings if you're a slow starter? You need time to prepare for the day and do all the things that get you into a space of creativity and work flow. For Jasmine, that looks like taking 45 minutes every day before the wheels start turning to have a cup of tea, take a bath, take time to stretch and do yoga, pray, and read. All the things that she knows help get her ready for the day. Then she starts work at 5:30 in the morning totally ready to go, and it's perfect because that's when her mind is the most sharp. And Jasmine has said that the first things that she does at work are the things that need her full attention, like writing podcasts and social media posts. Because that's when her cup is overflowing with creativity and focus, and she knows that that's when she can give the best of herself and the most of herself to her audience. And this is the way she looks at her morning routine. Jasmine says: “I give myself 45 minutes of utter decadence. It is a gift and a treat.” Which I think is a really beautiful way to look at it, especially if you struggle with morning routines or you're not a morning person. To look at it like you're giving yourself a gift is so powerful. Gabby Bernstein So the third person I'm going to feature is Gabby Bernstein. If you don't know her, she's a #1 New York Times best-selling author who Oprah named “the new thought leader for the next generation.” I mean, don’t you want to be that successful?! I want Oprah to notice me. Anyways, so Gabbi wakes up and practices transcendental meditation for 20 minutes. Then she does another 20 minutes of an EFT meditation. Then if she has time, she does an hour of exercise like yoga, pilates, sculpting class, or walking. So her entire routine can last 1 - 2 hours. And she does this all even with a baby at home! Because it’s that important to her.I love these examples because they demonstrate that successful people have time for themselves - their mental health, physical health, and spiritual health.I mean what’s that quote? If you don’t have 20 minutes a day to meditate then you need to be spending 2 hours a day meditating? So let’s take a look at 3 main takeaways from these morning routines:Work when your brain functions best.So one thing that I saw over and over again as I was researching morning routines is that the most successful people aren’t just working when their brains are at 100%... but they're actually planning their schedule around when they know they're going to put out their best work. And that's the best part of entrepreneurship, right? A lot of times we can make our own schedule. So if you find that you work best in the morning, or you feel really guilty if you wake up after 10 AM… even if it's hard, even if you're not a morning person… if you work in those hours when your brain is at its most sharp, you're going to fully give yourself to your audience. And you're definitely going to see the results of that in your business. You might even find that you save time that you can now spend on other things, because you're able to be so productive in those morning hours when your brain is totally on.2. Find your own flow. One thing that really surprised me about researching this episode is how different people’s morning routines are. And I think that’s really cool! It definitely fits into this idea that I talk about a lot of intuitive marketing, where you're doing the things that feel right for you and your business. The big takeaway is that you shouldn’t let anyone make you feel like your morning routine has to be one way or another. You can -- and you should -- make it your own and get rid of anything that isn't helping you. Find your own flow.3. Mind, body, spirit connectionThe ideal morning routine includes your mind, your body, and your spirit. We see this again and again when we look at morning routines that are really beneficial to the people who use them. They include exercise and meditation, or journaling, or eating something nutritious that gives your body what it needs. That connection of mind, body, and spirit is a really powerful way to start your day fully aligned. So if you’ve fallen off the wagon with morning routines before, maybe it's because this was out of balance. Maybe try bringing components of all three of those things mind, body, and spirit into your morning routine and see if that helps you get more out of it. Because once you see that your morning routine is making a huge difference in your life -- it’ll become a lot easier to keep doing it. So that's what we're hoping to get out of a morning routine. And the next step of that is how you can bring those values into your business so that your life isn't compartmentalized, but it's actually an extension of your soul. When you give yourself the space to align your values and your energy, you're not just fully showing up your business, you're also allowing your business to fully show up for you. You’re going to be much more likely to be in a place where you respect your business instead of resent it, and you're giving it attention and love, which would be a lot harder if you were unfocused, un-centered, and overwhelmed in your life. So when you take this time for yourself you're actually allowing your business to reach its full potential, and you're really feeding your business’s soul. So. What practices from this episode are you going to try? I really love the idea of using EFT more consistently to jump start my day. I’d love to hear what you think too, so head over to my Instagram @thedirtyalchemy - I’ll also link to it in the show notes - and let me know what you think! I'm wondering how easy it is for other people to have a morning routine. Do you find that you fall off the wagon a lot? Or are you pretty good about sticking to a morning routine? Does your routine change over time? And let me know if there’s someone I should have included here who has a really inspirational morning routine, because I would love to hear it. --Music: Gaena by Blue Dot Sessions is licensed under a Attribution-NonCommercial License.

Molly Nichols is a renowned fertility coach, certified energy healer, and teacher who specializes in educating women on how to uncover and heal the deeper mental, emotional, and spiritual causes of infertility through the use of fertility visualizations, spiritual practices, and an understanding of the mind-body-spirit connection to fertility. Molly helps women connect with a deeper sense of self, heal from the past, trust in the inner wisdom of their bodies, and open their hearts and wombs to conception, thereby deepening their connection with the spirits of their babies. Her unique approach to healing infertility has supported countless women around the world in becoming pregnant and in finding their unique pathway to motherhood. Molly’s own seven-year fertility journey ended joyfully with the birth of her twins who were conceived through IVF, and two years later, Molly became pregnant for a second time – naturally! She is now pregnant for a 3rd time at 41 years old and attributes her pregnancies to the use of fertility visualizations and the healing powers of the mind-body-spirit connection, techniques she now teaches and shares with the world. If any of us remain skeptical about the Mind Body Soul Connection in regards to wellness, we need only remember the last time someone came into the room and startled us. Or when we got spooked out as a child. Or the time we felt publicly humiliated or shamed. Unless you’re living under a rock, or you are a rock! chances are likely that your face got warm and/or flushed, you got goosebumps, you jumped a mile, or all three. Our bodies are affected by our experiences, thoughts and emotions. The reverse is also true: Our experiences, thoughts and emotions affect our bodies. This knowledge has inspired new approaches in how doctors are interacting with patients, some encouraging their patients to partake in storytelling, telling their medical professional the details of how they developed a health issue- all in the name of developing a comfortable, trusting relationship that will ultimately affect the patient’s well-being. Other professionals are taking a more hands-on approach with their patients, understanding the importance of having, in the words of the Adams Award, a “warm hand of service.” And many are being sure to give their patients the gift of Hope before the appointment is over. Our soul, thoughts, and emotions can be a huge part of recovery. Without a doubt, there is a wide array of scientific explanations for this, but I’d like to share a spiritual one: G-d designed our body to be a home for our soul. This designation makes the body and soul deeply connected to one another. And we are hardwired to create meaning and purpose in our life by using the body to express the soul, our higher self. Some examples: My mind and soul tell me I want to think outside of myself about God’s desires, others’ needs. My body goes to a homeless shelter and I feed the hungry. My mind and soul tell me I yearn to connect to a Higher Power, a transcendent force, a God that makes our world feel less like a jungle. I want to live against a backdrop of peace. My body goes into a quiet corner, and I pray and connect to my Creator. My mind and soul tell me- I’m feeling guilt or regret over past decisions in my life. My body goes through the necessary steps to rectify the past, making amends in various ways. So yes, our bodies will always react to our experiences and mindsets in life, but the ultimate challenge is to constantly put the soul and mind in the driver’s seat, and allow our spirit to guide our body, in living a meaningful life. Shula Bryski, co-director of Chabad Jewish Center of Thousand Oaks, joins Late Night Health for a look at the Mind Body Spirit Connection from a Jewish point of view. She has an editing and speech-writing business at rentaspeech.com air date: 9/16/16
