This past week, I was reading Mark chapter 3 and something hit me hard. Jesus heals a man with a withered hand—but not the way we often imagine healing. He doesn't pull him aside. He doesn't do it quietly. He calls him forward. In front of everyone. And then He asks the man to stretch out the very hand that hasn't worked in years. The healing didn't happen while the man stayed hidden. It happened when he moved. And I see this all the time with women and alcohol. We pray. We hope. We ask God to take it away. But Jesus keeps saying, “Come here. Stand up. Stretch.” Grace isn't passive. Healing requires participation. If you know God is calling you to stop overdrinking, to heal, to grow—but fear, comfort, or perfectionism keeps holding you back—this is your invitation. Earlier this month a father and his 5-year-old son were detained by immigration authorities in Minneapolis, sparking new outrage. "CBS Mornings" exclusively announced the winner of the Grammy Music Educator Award for 2026: It goes to Jennifer Jimenez of South Miami Senior High School in Florida. Jimenez is a high school band director, who has taught for 19 years at the school. Alex Warren's hit song "Ordinary," a love letter to his wife, became Billboard's song of the summer in 2025. She has addressed national organizations such as the American Federation of Teachers, the National Education Association, the Labor Council for Latin American Advancement, the Miami Women's March, and the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation's Annual Legislative Conference. ​Born and raised in Miami, Hernández-Mats is a first-generation American of Honduran descent and the first Hispanic officer elected to lead UTD.
