This is a Fan Fav episode. From the very start of this conversation, I was fired up! I brought Dr. Aviva Romm on Women of Impact—an M.D., midwife, herbalist, and author of Hormone Intelligence—to unravel the web of confusion and shame that keeps so many women feeling powerless about their hormones, periods, and health. Aviva exposes the damaging myths we're taught, reveals how our cycles impact everything from our confidence to our career momentum, and—let me tell you—it's not about “just suffering” through being a woman. Get ready to find out the best times in your cycle for asking for a raise, why you may want to hide your credit card before your period, and how you can start tracking your unique “normal” so you feel confident, not crazy. Aviva and I dive deep, get super tactical, and, real talk, help you reclaim your power—because knowledge is, truly, power. SHOWNOTES The truth about what's “normal” vs. what's common when it comes to women's hormones and periods How environmental factors—including antibiotics and toxins—affect your hormonal health from childhood Why feeling moody, suffering, or being “out of control” isn't actually normal for women The life-changing impact of tracking your cycle for confidence, career moves, and emotional well-being Planning your life around your menstrual cycle: confidence highs, energy peaks, and when to avoid shopping sprees How gut health, food choices, and the microbiome influence mood, hormones, and overall vitality The critical link between self-blame, misdiagnosis, and delayed treatment for issues like endometriosis Dispelling myths around birth control: what your doctor probably never told you about side effects How to nurture a positive relationship with your body, pleasure, and sexual desire through each hormone phase Turning lifestyle changes—not quick fixes—into real, lasting hormonal balance and personal empowerment FOLLOW DR. Pimples aren't just for teenagers, especially when they are caused by hormones. Women struggling with hormonal acne are often given one option and one option only: birth control. But what if you don't want to use birth control? What if you want to get to the root of the problem? Is it possible? Is there a solution for hormonal acne? These were the questions our client Maddie faced after years of acne struggles and very few answers. She joins us to share her honest story of deciding to come off of birth control and seek healing for acne that had plagued her for years. I appreciate Maddie's willingness to share her story because hormonal acne is something so many women face -- and without any hope of answers! If you feel that way, don't miss this episode. Spoiler alert: with time and effort, she found the answers and healing she hoped for. NOTE: This episode is appropriate for all audiences.Guest Bio: Maddie works as a journalist, photographer, and storyteller in Jackson, Tennessee. She has been married to her husband Zach for a little over one year and they love to travel together and host people in their home. Hey sister, I've been wanting to record this episode for a long time. Today, I'm talking about a topic that is incredibly personal—and one that many women have never heard fully explained: birth control and its impact on your fertility. I share my own story of being on the pill and navigating confusing church counsel, and I unpack what's actually happening in your body on birth control—including the copper IUD. We also go deep spiritually today. I walk through Genesis 38 and the story of Tamar—and how God's justice and heart for women ties directly into this conversation. Episode Highlights: What birth control really does to your body and hormones How post-birth control syndrome affects your fertility Why detoxing is so important before pregnancy A faith-filled invitation to steward your body well If you've ever been on birth control, or you're walking through the confusing road of trying to conceive after IUDs or pills, this episode will equip you with clarity and encouragement. In Him, Bekah Resources & Links: ✨ I've put together a free faith-filled booklet to help guide you through this journey. It's called Faith-Driven Fertility, and it's full of practical steps and encouragement for trusting God while supporting your body for conception.

Let's talk about something that affects so many mamas but often gets brushed under the rug—mental health during pregnancy. In this episode, I'm getting real about SSRIs (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors), what they are, how common they are, the benefits and the risks (yes, for both mom and baby), and—most importantly—the wide range of options available to you. This episode came straight from one of you (I love when that happens!), and I want you to know that no matter where you are on your mental health journey, there's no shame—just support. Many women are still super confused about which kind of Birth Control is most effective…Why do we get kids even we don't want to get kids? We are often our worst enemy… Often we do self sabotage our desired outcome. In addition, our animal mind wants children. The animal mind is our most influential decision maker!! So what, even with our best intention not to get kids, in a stressful or lovely situation we lose our control, and the baby will be procreated. How about the prevention methods? 1.) Sterilization is the safest way of prevention… But what is if you want later a kid from your dream partner?2.) Anti-baby pill… The Anti-Baby pill is 100% safe if you take EVERY DAY AT THE SAME TIME the Anti-baby pill. Over one year, 9% of the women are getting a baby by taking the Anti-Baby pill! My sister explained to me when you stop to take for one day the Anti-Baby pill, the women will be fertilized and gets an ovulation…. 3.) Condoms, Tesar … 18% of the women will get a baby within one year… Why? Today the condoms have a high quality. Still, you have to apply them in the right way and fingernails can hurt them quite well! 4.) IUD is the safest method. Only 0.2 to 0.8% of women have the same chance of becoming pregnant. (*Sigh of relief.*)An IUD is a small, T-shaped device with a string attached to the end. The female doctor will put this IUD in the uterus, and with the string, he or the female can remove the IUD.The problem is that some women will feel uncomfortable at the beginning with the IUD and don't like it. And after some days the uncomfortable feeling disappears. You can have this IUD with a ParaGard that kills the sperm through its copper coil… Who is allergic to copper should not use it with the ParaGard…The next option is Hormonal IUD. The Hormonal IUD release progestin hormones to thicken your cervical mucus and stop ovulation. The procedure to insert the IUD is quite fast and can also be painful when your vagina cramps… IUDs start working immediately. You can have sex, exercise, and use tampons. An IUD is effective for 3 to 10 years, depending on the type. Your doctor can remove it at any time.My Video: What is the best prevention? https://youtu.be/ZKWaOsy6x4oMy Audio: https://divinesuccess.net/wp-content/uploads/2021/Podcast.B/What-is-the-best-prevention..mp3

Stephanie Gorton is a writer, editor, and journalist whose work has been published in a range of outlets including The New Yorker, Smithsonian, and Paris Review Daily. She has worked in editorial roles at several independent presses, and her first book came out in 2020, titled Citizen Reporters: S. S. McClure, Ida Tarbell, and the Magazine that Rewrote America. Her second book, which came out in November, is The Icon and the Idealist: Margaret Sanger, Mary Ware Dennett, and the Rivalry that Brought Birth Control to America. It's a fascinating dual biography that brings to life two complicated leaders of the birth control movement in the early 1900s, and the lasting impact of their actions and interactions. We spoke early this year, and I loved getting to hear more about Stephanie's research and writing process, especially how she thought about narrative structure and revising with feedback.

Spoiler: lying on your back isn't your only option—and it's definitely not the best one for everyone. In Episode 101 of Trail Society, OB/GYN, ultrarunner, and mom of two Dr. Lauren Puretz joins Corrine, Keely, and Hillary for a candid and insightful conversation about puberty, birth control, and fertility in female athletes. Drawing from both her medical practice and personal experience as an elite endurance athlete, Dr. Puretz breaks down complex topics like energy availability, menstrual health, and hormonal birth control, offering practical advice for athletes navigating these issues. The discussion highlights how puberty and menstruation are affected by training load, the importance of not masking menstrual irregularities with birth control, and how coaches and caregivers can support young athletes during this pivotal time. The conversation also explores fertility concerns in current and retired athletes, including whether period loss during early athletic years may impact long-term reproductive health. Dr. Puretz discusses proactive steps athletes can take, such as hormone testing and fertility planning, and the growing trend of egg freezing among those delaying parenthood. Her honest and empowering perspective sheds light on the lifelong health journey female athletes face, from adolescence to adulthood, and sets the stage for a deeper dive into pregnancy and postpartum care in the next episode. Randy welcomes comedian Tommy Mitchell back to the show. They kick off the episode talking about getting injured in the kitchen. The boys scheme on ways you can get a college education without paying for it. Tommy discusses how, back in the day, showing any vulnerability as a man was not masculine and made you seem "gay". Randy talks about the concept of a joke being “too soon”. They move on to discuss toxic masculinity and why there isn't such a thing as toxic femininity. Tommy asks Randy about being retired in his 30's and what it really takes financially to be happy. The fellas discuss the absurdity of the institution of marriage. Tommy reasserts his love for musical theater. They wrap up with the news - Male birth control has arrived, a man died from masturbating too much, and UCLA scientists may have cured baldness. Is hormonal birth control affecting more than just pregnancy prevention? In this Habits and Hustle podcast episode, I am joined by Dr. Sarah Hill, an evolutionary psychologist and author who explains the surprising ways birth control pills influence women's brains, behavior, and mate selection. We discuss how synthetic hormones alter women's natural cycles, changing partner preferences and affecting emotional responses. We also explore the fascinating science behind mate selection through an evolutionary lens, why men are attracted to women at peak fertility, and how birth control can disrupt the pheromonal cues that influence attraction. Dr. Sarah Hill is an evolutionary psychologist, author, and researcher who earned her Ph.D. at the University of Texas at Austin working with Dr. David Buss. Her research focuses on understanding behavior and motivation through the lens of Darwin's theory of evolution by natural selection, with particular emphasis on women's psychology, hormones, and sexual motivation.
