Imagine what it's like to make hundreds of key decisions on “live” network television with millions watching. That's what a sports television producer does behind-the-scenes each time they sit in “the big chair” in charge of the show. It's a responsibility that requires good instincts, judgment and passion. Not everyone can handle the pressure or responsibility, but Robert Steinfeld has done that for the last five decades. His work has earned him 10 Sports Emmy Awards for producing and or directing local, regional, and national network sports television since the early 1980s, and during that time has covered Major League Baseball; NBA, WNBA and college basketball; college football; NCAA Championship events; World Cup Soccer, the Cotton Bowl Classic for four decades; and three summer Olympic Games. He's produced and or directed for ESPN, CBS, ABC, NBC, Fox Sports networks, Bally Sports, the NBA and more. In addition to his Emmy Awards and additional five nominations, he's received a national Cable Ace Award nomination for Outstanding Programming Achievement, five Telly Awards, and more. He's produced five highly successful and critically acclaimed baseball pitching instructional videos – including Nolan Ryan's Fastball with Randy Johnson. He's been fortunate to work with some of the greatest athletes and broadcasting talent, and he learned a lot along the way.Robert is a native of New Jersey, but grew up in Dallas, Texas, where he's lived since 1965. He attended Dallas Hillcrest High School then the University of Texas-Austin, graduating with honors with a Bachelor of Journalism degree. He and his wife, Sarah, have two children, Elaine and Lee (AKA Leonhart on YouTube), plus two grandchildren.Robert Steinfeld is Executive Producer of the WNBA Dallas Wings and National Lacrosse League Panther City Lacrosse Club.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/success-made-to-last-legends--4302039/support.

The show has been broadcast in almost every country on earth, and each of the original 117 episodes has aired over 100,000 times, and for many years it's been the highest rated program EVER on Nick at Night. He's appeared in dozens of classic TV shows including “Run For Your Life”, “Gomer Pyle”, “Mod Squad”, “Adam-12”, “Mission Impossible”, “Police Woman”, “Three's Company” and many more. He had recurring roles as “Hannibal” in “General Hospital” and “Dean Strickland”, also known as “The Dean Machine”, in “Hollywood 7”. And WHO can ever forget him on Season 32 of “Dancing with the Stars”, and Season 8 of “The Masked Singer” as one of “the Mummies”. He starred on Broadway in ”Romance, Romance” and “Pippin”, and he appeared in stage productions of “Grease”, “The Sound of Music”, “West Side Story” and “City of Angels”. On top of all that, he's a gifted singer and guitar player, and he plays in a band called “Barry Williams and the Travel-eers”, featuring his beautiful wife Tina. His New York Times bestselling book entitled, “Growing Up Brady: I was a Teenage Greg”, is now in its 3rd edition, and was made into a TV movie, which he co-wrote and co-executive produced. The book highlights the relationships, the behind-the-scenes stories, and especially the people who made “The Brady Bunch” so special to multiple generations around the world. Michael Ruff Live on Game Changers With Vicki Abelson In his first ever interweb interview, perhaps interview period, 3rd Zoom of his lifetime, and that includes 2 with his family, multiple Grammy-nominated producer and songwriter, BMI Award and Cable Ace Award winner, Michael Ruff, tried to be a little ruff, deflecting and avoiding answering questions about his past but ultimately, answering my questions he did. Even the really tough ones. And the password was FUN! I've had a bit of a run with bad boy musicians who are a tad unpredictable and contrarian- I love a good challenge. Well, I'm actually getting too old for that shit, but Michael's worth it. HIs story hasn't been told. Research for the show came up with a bio he'd written himself on his website, or had written for him, a few brief liner notes on a couple of videos, and 3 really short blogs, I mean really short. The end. No Wiki, no articles, no interviews for background. I was tightrope walking without a net of any kind for the first time myself and after getting over the initial shock of his response to a question being, “No, I don't wanna…” That's not an exact quote, fyi, I'm too fatigued to try to find the moment, at the moment, it's also the first time in 7 years I didn't stay up no matter how late and write liner notes, on the same night as the show, ever. Consider this a cherry breaking for both of us. Too harsh? For a man who values honesty seemingly above almost all else, except maybe love, I think he can take it.* *See his story about how he, with the help of his higher power to hear him tell it, saved and changed Snuffy's life for good. For someone who's never done a Zoom podcast, Michael had arguably the best sound and set up of any guest I've had the privilege to sit down with––pointing up how much work I have to do on my own deal. Also pointing up his greatness, what makes him a one-of-a-kind brilliant artist, worth everything and anything. He displayed that brilliance tinkling throughout and featured on his new, as yet unreleased, Nobody But You, his classic, I Love You More Than You'll Ever Know, my favorite, Wishing Well, and a taste of the brand new, Beautiful Children. *sigh* We talked about being born in Utah, Connecticut, Boston, Upstate New York, The Bitter End, The Flying Jib, At My Place, Hawaii, a bounty of musicians who populated them, playing with Rickie Lee Jones, MDing Chaka Khan, bringing in the Snuff, being brought into Laura Brannigan by the him, Eric Burdon, Clive Davis's pass, his Warner Brothers deal, Bonnie Raitt covering his Cry on My Shoulder on Nick of Time, self sabotage in work and in life, and the work to right that latter wrong. HIs massive love of his wife, his kids, his grandkid, his Island, its people, his music, faith, and his life. Michael's jazz… an improvisation…his artistry, his impromptu, in the moment, in his skin, funny, irreverent, genius… fun, complicated, incomprehensible for its difficulty, made to look easy, is the stuff that makes him a treasure I hope he gifts us more of in the days and years ahead. A short west coast tour in June with John Cruz approaches. Dates here: JohnCruz.com We'll be there with massive smiles on. My takeaway - underneath the self-assured confidence Michael is a man who cares very much about pleasing, with his art, his craft, his life––he gives his very best. Even when he tries to withhold, he shares without filter. I'm even more enamored now, even if I did have to work for it. Ali LeRoi is a photographer as well as the Emmy Award-winning co-creator/executive producer/writer of the critically acclaimed comedy “Everybody Hates Chris,” a series inspired by the childhood experiences of comedian Chris Rock. He is a Golden Globe nominee, a 2007 NAACP Image Award winner for best writer in a comedy series, as well as a winner of the 2007 AFI TV Program of the Year Award. LeRoi served as a producer and writer on “The Chris Rock Show,” for which he won an Emmy, a Cable Ace Award, and received five Emmy Award nominations. He is an NAACP Awards Best Director nominee for his work on Everybody Hates Chris, and has directed segments for the “77th Annual Academy Awards,” as well as for the “Orlando Jones Show.” Major motion picture credits include producing and co-writing “Head of State” and “Down to Earth,” as well as producing cult-favorite, “Pootie Tang.” Photography for him is meditation, memory, and connection. Taking time to consider what something is. Why something is. Who someone is. For LeRoi photography freezes the fractions of sections in between all of the things he sees and does and holds still all of the places and people he passes by and gives him a moment to consider them, inspect them, appreciate them, and remember them. While he has a focus on people, and exploring the breadth of their condition and their ability to connect to the world around them, as well as their ability to connect with him, he also ventures into architecture as abstract, and it’s collision as form, as still life. Much of his work grows out of a strongly held sense of solitude and a desire to connect to the things around him. He has no hard and fast rules about purity or constraints around editing an image. He does what he feel. And show it. He assumes that his body of work will take on a character as it grows, as he is it’s singular filter. Originally from Chicago, LeRoi currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife and two sons. Resources: Download the free Candid Frame app for your favorite smart device. Click here to download for .
