Dr. Phil examines how parental secrecy guidelines and laws affect American families. Aurora Regino is a plaintiff in a lawsuit alleging staff at the Chico Unified School District violated her rights when they secretly transitioned her 11-year-old daughter in the 5th grade. Aurora, joined by her attorney Josh Dixon from the Center for American Liberty, claim she signed a permission slip to allow her daughter to take an arts and crafts class, unaware she was meeting with a school counselor who was helping her transition to become a boy. Later, Dr. Phil is joined by Founder of Trans Student Educational Resources, Eli Erlich, and Education Advocate, Maud Maron who discuss whether or not children should have privacy when exploring their gender identity and sexuality at school. Why Modern B2B Sales Starts with Founders: Insights from Gabe Lullo of AlleyoopOn this episode of The Thoughtful Entrepreneur, host Josh Elledge speaks with Gabe Lullo, CEO of Alleyoop, a leading B2B sales development company. Gabe dives into the critical strategies that modern founders and sales teams need to adopt—covering everything from founder-led sales and shifting lead generation tactics to building authentic engagement through personal branding. This episode is a goldmine for startup founders, sales leaders, and anyone aiming to scale their outbound strategy with more precision and impact.Building a Modern B2B Sales EngineGabe emphasizes that founders must be on the front lines of sales early in their journey. Founders bring unmatched product knowledge and passion that resonates with early customers and helps shape go-to-market messaging. These firsthand sales experiences offer valuable insight into what prospects actually care about, allowing for real-time iteration and refinement. Gabe cautions against hiring a VP of Sales too early—founders need to establish a repeatable, scalable process before expanding the team.In today's sales environment, traditional cold emailing is losing its edge due to regulation and deliverability challenges. Gabe recommends a return to high-impact basics: cold calling and content creation. Phone calls allow for real-time, human interaction, while content—especially on LinkedIn—builds trust and positions founders as thought leaders. Gabe practices what he preaches with his consistent posting strategy and his podcast, Do Hard Things, which highlights authentic stories of grit and resilience.Gabe also explains how Alleyoop helps B2B companies bridge the gap between marketing and sales. Their done-for-you systems manage appointment setting, lead qualification, and process optimization for clients ranging from startups to giants like Adobe and Zoom Info. For founders ready to scale their outreach, Gabe recommends focusing on authenticity, strategic connection building, and consistent engagement to generate high-quality pipeline.About Gabe LulloGabe Lullo is a seasoned entrepreneur and executive with deep expertise in sales, marketing, recruiting, and management. After graduating from the Barney School of Business at the University of Hartford, he launched his own sales, training, and marketing firm, which he successfully ran for over a decade. Bob is President and Founder of Quid, a Silicon Valley–based company whose AI models are used by a third of the Fortune 50. Before starting Quid, he was the first employee at Yelp, where he played a role in the genesis of the like button and observed firsthand the rise of the social media industry. Bob takes us behind the scenes of that pivotal innovation and reflects on what it means for how we build products, connect with customers, and navigate a world being reshaped by AI. This conversation is part tech history, part strategic lens into where we're headed next. KEY TAKEAWAYS: Innovation often starts with messy, unpredictable experimentation AI is already influencing strategy if you let it be your thought partner Agency is a crucial component to consider in the age of AI WHAT I LOVE MOST… Bob's insight that true agency, the human ability to take initiative and shape change, is something AI can't replicate. Description: Katie Sturino is one of those people who makes you feel instantly braver just by being in the room. With her bold fashion choices, unfiltered honesty, and joyful presence online, the powerhouse founder of Megababe, style influencer, and unapologetic voice for body confidence has inspired so many of us to rethink how we see our bodies and ourselves. Her first book Body Talk, part memoir, part manifesto, focused on the all too important topic of learning to love the skin you're in. Now, she's back—and this time, she's putting her hand to fiction! Of course, we wanted to talk to this multi-hyphenate about what it's like flexing yet another new muscle. Katie and Jen talk about the inspiration behind Sunny Side Up, a book Jennifer Weiner has called a modern-day Bridget Jones' Diary (without the toxic self-loathing) and Katie shares what the writing process was like, an experience Katie equated to being put through a pasta machine. She and Jen also reminisce about when they first met almost a year ago—backstage at an Oprah special and the grueling decisions they grabbed with (as so many women do for such an event)—what to wear. Thought-provoking Quotes: “I lead with solution. That is the thing that's consistent for me because I love business. I love talking to people about the businesses they wanna start, the businesses that they're running. I like solving problems.” – Katie Sturino “We love turning on a woman online. We love it—everything from Meghan Markle dancing in birthing room and Blake Lively. We just love turning on women. It's like sport.” Katie Sturino “I don't have the MBA. I feel like most businesses that are dreamed up are done in a Harvard think tank, and I don't have that. So that's another thing that I feel insecure about, because whenever I'm up on panels or in a room full of similar founders, their stories have a really specific ladder and I'm like in my parents' garage, you know, it's different.” – Katie Sturino “Writing this book was the hardest thing I have ever done. This was awful. I'm gonna say that out loud so that if anyone out there is like, I'm gonna write a book one day—pop that bubble! Pop that bubble! It's not you in a cozy room with a typewriter and a mug. It's like open eyeball surgery while you're awake. It's really hard.” – Katie Sturino Resources Mentioned in This Episode: Making the Shift: A new way to think about weight - https://www.weightwatchers.com/makingtheshift/ Megababe - https://megababebeauty.com/ The Deodorant Jen swears by - https://megababebeauty.com/collections/pits Sunny Side Up: A Novel by Katie Sturino - https://amzn.to/3SLK1qd Tressie McMillan Cottom - https://tressiemc.com/ Using Storytelling to Address Complex Social Issues: Dr. Tressie McMillan Cottom - https://jenhatmaker.com/podcasts/series-64/using-storytelling-to-address-complex-social-issues-dr-tressie-mcmillan-cottom/ #SupersizeTheLook - https://www.instagram.com/explore/search/keyword/?q=%23supersizethelook Kitty & Vibe: Katie Sturino Swimsuit Collection - https://www.kittyandvibe.com/collections/sunny-side-up Guest's Links: Website - https://megababebeauty.com/pages/about Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/katiesturino/ Youtube - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmlgRDiOCywtaamAc5q-7VQ TikTok - https://www.tiktok.com/@katiesturino Substack - https://katiesturino.substack.com/p/katie-sturino-writer Podcast - https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/boob-sweat-with-katie-sturino/id1483683205 Connect with Jen!Jen's Website - https://jenhatmaker.com/ Jen's Instagram - https://instagram.com/jenhatmakerJen's Twitter - https://twitter.com/jenHatmaker/ Jen's Facebook - https://facebook.com/jenhatmakerJen's YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/user/JenHatmaker The For the Love Podcast is presented by Audacy. Mastering Communication and Overcoming Anxiety: In-Depth Insights from Scott RameyEffective communication is the cornerstone of personal and professional success, yet for many, it's a source of anxiety and self-doubt. In a recent episode of The Thoughtful Entrepreneur, host Josh Elledge sits down with Scott Ramey, Founder of The Scott Ramey Group, to explore the transformative power of authentic communication, the journey from anxiety to confidence, and actionable strategies for personal growth. Drawing from Scott's decades of experience and his own struggles with speech anxiety, this episode offers a roadmap for anyone seeking to communicate with clarity, authenticity, and impact.Scott Ramey's Journey: From Anxiety to AuthorityScott Ramey's story is a powerful example of how communication skills can be developed over time, even for those who struggle with anxiety. Early in his career, Scott faced intense speech anxiety, but he transformed this weakness into a superpower, eventually becoming a communication coach. His story emphasizes that vulnerability is universal—successful leaders and communicators also face these challenges, but with the right mindset and tools, anyone can become a confident speaker. The core of Scott's teaching is that communication is about authenticity, not performance. He encourages people to embrace their true selves, moving away from the anxiety of pretending or trying to meet external expectations. As Scott notes, “You don't have to say things that don't resonate with your true feelings,” and embracing this authenticity can significantly improve confidence and communication. In addition to personal transformation, Scott emphasizes practical exercises, such as the Three-Column Method, to help individuals align their authentic self with their projected persona. What does it really take to build a franchise brand where record sales, loyalty, and work-life balance all go hand-in-hand?Today's guest, Sam Ballas, is a serious numbers guy (his license plate literally says EBITDA!). And he is diving into his trademarked philosophy “driven by unit level economics”. Sam shares why focusing on the numbers at each location beats chasing super-sized national growth, and how regional relationships and relentless data tracking keeps his brands profitable and tight-knit. He also shares the importance of the quality of life (and ballet recitals!) even before expansion and how he stops franchise sales entirely when the time isn't right.Sam G. Ballas is the visionary Founder and Managing Partner of ZorAbility, Inc., as well as the President and Chief Executive Officer of East Coast Wings + Grill (ECW+G), Co-Founder of Sammy's Sliders, Co-Founder/Investor of Dine Growth Group (DGG) and Vice Chair of the International Franchise Association (IFA). Send us a textBe it resolved: America's founders established a secular government with provision for a religious people. When the delegates met in Philadelphia in the summer of 1787, they deliberately prevented the government from favoring any religion. Then when the Bill of Rights were added, freedom of religious expression was guaranteed. Those who wanted a Christian government at the time were upset at what they called the religious defect in the Constitution. They were honest enough to admit what today's Christian nationalists often cover up: The Constitution is not a Christian document and the nation was not founded on the basis of Christianity. The Christian myths surrounding the Constitutional Convention and Constitution came out later. At the time, most people recognized that the founding was secular.
