English statesman Francis Bacon once wrote, “Money is a great servant but a bad master.”If we don't learn to manage money wisely to take control of it, it will soon master us. It's one way or the other. Today, Bob Lotich tells us how to be the master and not the servant when it comes to money—and he makes it pretty clear, as well.Bob Lotich is a high-performance financial coach and Certified Educator in Personal Finance (CEPF®) and has been named a top-20 influencer in personal finance. His wife, Linda, and their award-winning website, SeedTime.com, as well as the SeedTime Money Podcast, have reached over 50 million people in the past decade. He is also the author of Simple Money, Rich Life: Achieve True Financial Freedom and Design a Life of Eternal Impact. The Wake-Up Call: A Breakdown Leads to BreakthroughBob's story, which began in 2002 when his car broke down while he was on his way to deposit a paycheck, is one that many can relate to. He described how that moment of crisis led to a deep spiritual awakening about finances and stewardship.Unfortunately, the car breaking down prevented him from depositing his paycheck and paying rent on time. Facing the stress of a possible late fee he couldn't afford, Bob realized that his financial life was on shaky ground. He describes this moment as a "house of cards" that collapsed. In his frustration, Bob prayed for wisdom, and that simple prayer became the catalyst for a profound change. God responded, leading Bob to learn about biblical stewardship and practical financial management.Biblical Wisdom: Earning, Saving, and GivingAs Bob delved into the Bible, he came across a quote from John Wesley that changed his financial perspective: "Earn all you can, save all you can, and give all you can." This idea, combined with scriptural truths, inspired him to view money not as a burden but as a tool for good.Bob reflected on passages like:Proverbs 13:11: "Gathering money little by little makes it grow."1 Timothy 6:17-19: Paul's admonition to the rich to be generous.Proverbs 22:7: The borrower is slave to the lender, which motivated Bob to eliminate debt. These verses reinforced the idea that managing money well is not about hoarding wealth but using it for God's purposes.Financial Unity in MarriageBob also emphasized the power of financial unity in marriage. Once he and his wife Linda aligned their financial goals with biblical principles, their relationship strengthened. They not only eliminated stress but also achieved impressive financial milestones, like paying off their house by the age of 31. Bob's story reminds us that peace in one's finances can be a unifying force in marriage, helping couples move forward together more quickly. The Four Keys to Earning MoreBob shared four essential principles for increasing earnings in today's digital age:Operate within God-given gifts and passions: Work aligned with your gifts gives you an "unfair advantage."Continue learning and developing your skills: Hone your craft to glorify God.Solve significant problems: You're compensated in proportion to the size of the problem you solve.Work where demand is high: Identify where there's a need and meet it.These principles guide believers to increase their earnings while keeping their hearts focused on God's kingdom. The Joy of GivingOne of the most impactful parts of Bob's message was his perspective on giving. He and his wife created a "seed account," setting aside money each month specifically for giving. By praying and waiting for opportunities, giving became not just a duty, but a joyful and fun part of their lives. This practice reminds us of the joy Jesus spoke of when He said, "It is more blessed to give than to receive" (Acts 20:35).Enjoying God's ProvisionFinally, Bob encouraged believers to enjoy the financial blessings God provides. He highlighted the importance of gratitude and appreciating what we have. Whether earning, saving, or giving, we can find joy in every aspect of financial stewardship.Bob's journey teaches us that financial freedom isn't about accumulating wealth for ourselves but about managing what God has entrusted to us with wisdom and generosity. We can design a life of eternal impact by earning, saving, giving, and enjoying God's provision. If you're looking for more practical tips and biblical wisdom, Bob's book Simple Money, Rich Life: Achieve True Financial Freedom and Design a Life of Eternal Impact is a great resource to guide you on this journey. On Today's Program, Rob Answers Listener Questions:I have a friend who is getting ready to retire as a union electrician and is really upset about losing $100,000 when the tariff news broke. I tried to tell him that the money would be made back once the markets recovered. Is my understanding correct that he will eventually get that money back? I currently have $55,000 in a Roth IRA and $37,000 in a Traditional IRA. I'm about 30 years from retirement and contribute $200 per month to my Roth. Does it make sense to roll over the traditional IRA funds into the Roth? Would it be a good financial move for me?Resources Mentioned:Faithful Steward: FaithFi's New Quarterly Magazine (Become a FaithFi Partner)Simple Money, Rich Life: Achieve True Financial Freedom and Design a Life of Eternal Impact by Bob LotichSeedtime.comWisdom Over Wealth: 12 Lessons from Ecclesiastes on Money (Pre-Order)Look At The Sparrows: A 21-Day Devotional on Financial Fear and AnxietyRich Toward God: A Study on the Parable of the Rich FoolFind a Certified Kingdom Advisor (CKA) or Certified Christian Financial Counselor (CertCFC)FaithFi App Remember, you can call in to ask your questions most days at (800) 525-7000. We love fan mail: text us with your feedback and ideasThe beauty of yacht interiors often steals the spotlight, but what happens when we approach design from a completely different angle? Anita Rivera-Turcotte, founder of Verge Yacht Design, brings a novel perspective to yacht interiors that places engineering and function squarely before style. From their studio in Savannah, Georgia, Anita and her team blend interior design expertise with naval architecture to create spaces that work flawlessly while looking stunning. "Anybody can make something pretty," she explains, "but let's make it work for that specific owner and that crew." This philosophy stems from understanding that beautiful design must always respect a vessel's operational needs first. What truly sets Verge Yacht Design apart is the studio's groundbreaking work with sustainable materials. Forget the notion that sustainability means compromise – Anita's team develops fabrics from mushrooms, crushed stones, and corn husks that rival traditional luxury materials in both aesthetics and performance. "I feel like sometimes people look at sustainability and automatically think a dollar sign," she notes, "and that is not the case at all." Through biomimicry and innovative processes, Verge Yacht Design is proving that yacht interiors can be responsible without sacrificing an ounce of luxury.Beyond their design work, the studio team is actively shaping yachting's future through mentorship programs with the Savannah College of Art and Design, introducing bright young minds to the industry. And when asked what yacht owners ultimately want? Anita doesn't hesitate: "Experience." It's the perfect word to encapsulate Verge's holistic approach – creating vessels that function beautifully, respect both people and planet, and deliver unforgettable moments on the water.Ready to discover how function, sustainability, and beauty can harmoniously coexist in yacht design? One nation has stealthily adopted a leading position in remodeling digital casino interactions while the digital gambling realm speeds ahead in innovation - that nation is Ireland. Ireland has recently evolved into an emerging innovative technology center that uses mobile platforms to disrupt the gaming industry. Developing a new app or creating bonus-heavy games does not represent the main objective of this initiative. The advancement focuses on transforming mobile casino user engagements by starting from the smartphone screen interface. A New Standard for Design in Mobile Casino Experience Scroll, tap, swipe. Ireland has gained mastery in this current mobile gaming metabolic rate along with other select development groups worldwide. Mobile casino interfaces no longer replicate small sized desktop screens so users now can find updated interfaces. Modern technology development starts from a mobile perspective while organizations in Ireland create exceptional designs through their fusion of advanced technology and exceptional user understanding. The movement controls alongside one-hand operating methods come from Dublin-based development teams at the forefront. The user experience includes dynamic animated interfaces which automatically respond to users' actions in real time instead of using standard menu drop-downs and game lobbies. The slot machine system operates flawlessly through vertical orientation. The gambling feed in live video uses chat functionality alongside betting tools which operate without obscuring the screen display. The system evaluates each detail by running through repeated tests incorporating player comments together with A/B testing protocols. Direct UX focus serves both as strategic approach and as an aesthetic enhancement. Several Irish startups understand that users are devoting less time to each session leading to rising competition so anything that causes friction will make users leave. Mobile casinos developed by Irish startups remove small interface errors while crafting user-friendly platforms that both maintain user retention and generate user satisfaction. Intuitive Meets Intelligent: The Role of Adaptive Design Adaptive interfaces represent the leading technological innovation in mobile gambling across Ireland since they modify user interfaces instantaneously according to player habits and device types and timeframes. When users start their preferred casino application at night the interface directs them towards games within relaxing sound and minimal visual intensity settings. The interface welcomes back users by displaying new feature highlights that avoid cluttering the user interface screen. AI analytics drive adaptive interface development at Irish companies who view gaming as much more than game access but as a key element of state of mind and situations. Even small touches matter. The implementation of predictive asset streaming technology leads to faster loading times. Game recommendations today integrate both historical gameplay data and user-determined time-period preferences and held-device orientation settings. Gamification and Loyalty in a New Light Irish businesses lead the global advancement of gamification through genuine casual game design techniques which establish player connection. Modern platforms enable interactive loyalty experiences which duplicate gaming mechanics through avatar collection and perk leveling and the attainment of social awards for both game playing and feature exploration as well as safety practice. The shift demonstrates a general industry trend which marries emotional resonance with non-financial options. Users take part in digital realms through gameplay instead of limited gambling activity. Through their playful approach Irish developers manage to develop digital universes that display genuine human sensibility. A company based in Cork released an update which enabled players to give virtual cheers to their fellow casino players while streaming t...

She believes team members should have a breadth of skills, craft should be the foundation of product design, and experimentation is important in both work and workflow. To that end, Cassie and the leadership team at Medium recently made what some might see as a controversial decision: They eliminated product management. The result? They are moving faster than ever. We chat with Cassie about what led to this decision—and why it might not work for all teams, how she thinks about balancing Medium's legacy of thoughtful design while moving the product forward, and how writing can help you advance your design career. Bio Cassie McDaniel brings nearly 20 years of design leadership across agencies, her own studio, nonprofits, and high-growth startups. Currently the Head of Design at Medium, in her previous role as Product Design Director at Lattice, she led Insights & Analytics and Engagement, partnering with cross-functional teams to deliver humane, impactful digital experiences that drive business results. Podcast Description In this high-energy episode of School Owner Talk, Allie and Duane dive into one of the most powerful yet underutilized tools in martial arts school marketing — the referral contest. They walk you through exactly how to plan, launch, and promote a full-blown referral campaign that not only generates new leads and sign-ups but also creates excitement and unity throughout your school. Whether you're brand new to referrals or looking to level up your system, this episode lays out everything you need to turn your students into your best promoters.  Key Takeaways Referrals remain the most trusted and cost-effective form of lead generation. A referral contest creates energy, excitement, and organic growth. Success lies in the structure: timeline, visibility, reward system, and promotion. Avoid common mistakes like weak prizes, poor follow-up, or lack of urgency. Use contests to deepen your school culture and strengthen retention. Action Steps for School Owners Choose your referral contest window (2–4 weeks) and pick a fun theme. Design a clear and simple referral system — how referrals are submitted and tracked. Create a 3-tier prize system: participation, milestone, and grand prize. Promote it everywhere: in class, on your app, via email, text, and your parent group. Build a follow-up system to contact, book, and onboard referred leads quickly. Celebrate the winners publicly to build hype for next time. This episode is for anyone building a business that fits into real life, and not the other way around. You'll Learn:My pandemic story of stepping back and reassessing my business3 anchors for building a life-first business in an uncertain world:Design for margin, not maximum.Clarity comes from creating margin, not hustling.Designing for margin is how we stay well enough to serve others.Build products that don't require your constant presence.Design for asymmetry, where value isn't tied to one-to-one time.A life-first business scales impact, not just hours.Plan around what you can't plan for.Your business should be designed to absorb disruption, not collapse under it.Strategies that work for me are “Walden months,” a hard growth ceiling on STC, and allowing maximum flexibility to travel when loved ones need extra help. In this powerful episode of the Leadership Sandbox, Tammy J. Bond dives deep into a critical, yet often unspoken, challenge: the vital role of HR in effectively escalating difficult issues to leadership to safeguard organizational culture. Tammy acknowledges the very real fear of speaking upward that many HR professionals face, highlighting the common loyalty dilemma that can pit the health of the workplace culture against the perceived need to protect leadership reputation. Bond argues passionately that HR's silence on crucial matters actively erodes trust and allows toxic behaviors to fester, impacting employee engagement and overall workplace dynamics. This episode equips HR professionals with the courage and practical strategies to confront leadership when necessary, emphasizing that HR courage protects culture. Through a structured, four-step action plan, Tammy provides actionable insights on how to gather evidence, offer solutions (not just problems!), and engage in effective communication that drives real cultural change. Discover how HR can step into its personal power, championing a healthy and thriving organization. Key Takeaways for HR & Leaders: The Cost of Silence: Understand how HR's reluctance to speak up directly impacts organizational trust and allows toxic behaviors to perpetuate at all levels, including at the top of leadership. We begin this week in Pennsylvania with a story that involves a woman who starts to believe that something in her new house is coming for her family and trying to take it from her. Then, Dan takes us to Brazil to explore one of the more disturbing legends ever. The legend of Bárbara  of the Pleasures. But Bárbara's story, is not so pleasurable. When her looks began to fade, did an aging woman in the early 19th century, once heralded as a legendary beauty, do the unthinkable to regain her youthful attractiveness? Next up, Lynze offers us a story with many complex layers ranging from sleep paralysis to cosmic connections. Rounding out the episode, she gives us a classic haunted house story! Scared To Death Merch:Celebrate 300 episodes of Scared to Death with the killer new '300 Rituals' collection.
