In the 34th episode of the League Podcast, Benoy Thanjan and David Magid break down the most important trends shaping the renewable energy market today. In just five minutes, we cover the biggest opportunities and risks facing developers, investors, and innovators in solar, storage, and beyond.   Key Takeaways Data Centers Driving Demand – Over 9.4 GW of interconnection applications in New Jersey's PSEG market in the last 12 months, led by data centers and advanced manufacturing. Community Solar Boom – New Jersey targets 3 GW by 2029, opening opportunities for rooftop developers; Illinois, Maryland, and New York projects can now pencil without the ITC if interconnection and lease terms align. Hybrid Power Solutions – A 944 MW behind-the-meter natural gas + battery storage plant in Pennsylvania highlights the shift toward hybrid generation and reliability models. Solar + Storage vs. Gas – New Jefferies analysis shows solar + storage is now cheaper than natural gas on a levelized cost basis. Safe Harbor Updates – New rules replace the 5% test with “beginning of construction” standards for projects above 1.5 MW AC, requiring four-year continuity and physical work tests. Capacity Growth Outlook – EIA forecasts 64 GW of solar and 18 GW of storage additions in 2025, making solar nearly half of all new U.S. capacity.   Why It Matters David highlights how developers can prepare for interconnection competition, leverage new community solar programs, and navigate shifting tax credit rules. I share insights on the new safe harboring provisions and what they mean for financing and project timelines. Together, we paint a picture of a rapidly scaling clean energy sector where solar is poised to supply 50–60% of U.S. electricity within two decades.   Host Bio: David Magid David Magid is a seasoned renewable energy executive with deep expertise in solar development, financing, and operations. He has worked across the clean energy value chain, leading teams that deliver distributed generation and community solar projects. Over his career, Benoy has developed over 100 MWs of solar projects across the U.S., helped launch the first residential solar tax equity funds at Tesla, and brokered $45 million in Renewable Energy Credits (“REC”) transactions.   Prior to founding Reneu Energy, Benoy was the Environmental Commodities Trader in Tesla's Project Finance Group, where he managed one of the largest environmental commodities portfolios. He originated REC trades and co-developed a monetization and hedging strategy with senior leadership to enter the East Coast market.   As Vice President at Vanguard Energy Partners, Benoy crafted project finance solutions for commercial-scale solar portfolios. His role at Ridgewood Renewable Power, a private equity fund with 125 MWs of U.S. renewable assets, involved evaluating investment opportunities and maximizing returns. He also played a key role in the sale of the firm's renewable portfolio.   Earlier in his career, Benoy worked in Energy Structured Finance at Deloitte & Touche and Financial Advisory Services at Ernst & Young, following an internship on the trading floor at D.E. A-Block (2:30) SPECIAL COMMENT: After perhaps the most hapless 96 hours of his presidency, the worst 96 hours of the worst presidency of ALL TIME, the most FAIL in the shortest span… the mentally-deteriorating, untethered-from-reality Trump… must RESIGN. And take his idiot sycophants with him. The last 96 hours: His U.N. speech, sounding like an escapee from a psych ward. His Tylenol news conference, sounding like an escapee from a psych ward who’s been living on the street for a month. His suggestion NATO countries shoot down Russian jets. His sudden embrace of Zelensky, either another stall or a stupid dare to Putin. MAGA’s RAGE AT his sudden embrace of Zelensky. The cover of a London right wing daily: his picture and in 72-point type, the word “DERANGED.” The ICE shooting in Dallas; his sadistic Homeland chief pretending the victims were agents when they were detainees; his idiot simpering Vice President pretending the victims were agents when they were detainees; his corrupt venal FBI director pretending the victims were agents when they were detainees. His ICE chief not denying he took $50,000 in a paper bag. His staff THEN denying he took $50,000 in a paper bag. His cancellation of a meeting with Democrats making sure if there’s a government shutdown it’s all his fault. His crackpot pal Milei crashing the Venezuelan economy and needing us to bail him out. His paranoia over the stopped teleprompter at the U-N that was his White House staff’s fault. His paranoia over the stopped escalator at the U-N that was his own vanity videographer’s fault. His desire to arrest the U.N. escalator technician or the U-N escalator button pusher. His desire to arrest the escalator AND James Comey. The election of Raul Grijalva’s daughter to Congress. The fact that Adelita Grijalva will be the last Representative needed to force a vote on releasing the Trump Epstein Files. His self-humiliation at the Kirk Memorial. ABC reinstating Jimmy Kimmel. Meaning Disney told him to eff off. Meaning the National Football League told him to eff off. Meaning they all told his propagandists at Sinclair to eff off. Kimmel then shoving him in a locker using only a monologue. Kimmel getting a record 6 million viewers and 22 more online in the first TWENTY hours. Kimmel and his show getting new life and maybe a new contract. His self-owning confession that HE and his goons used threats to get Kimmel cancelled. The fact that Kimmel, and ABC, and Bob Iger, and Disney, and America told Trump to SHOVE HIS THREATS. And that’s just since Sunday night. You lost to an escalator. Resign. Take Vance with you. Take Noem with you. Take Ho-man with you. Take Milei with you. LEAVE the Epstein Files. B-Block (32:53) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: Jason Whitlock says eff everybody, this is Christ-land and he won't be brainwashed any more (no brain, no pain). Derrick Van Orden says Kirk was Jesus and you don't F with the Jesus so defund The Mayo Clinic (he should go there and get CT scanned) and Kristi Noem says a tweet saying she'd have a bad day was terrifying for her. This is a piece of crap who in her spare time murders puppies. C-Block (42:00) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: The New York Post BS firehose points at a couple of liberals at a time, then it rotates away, but eventually it makes a full circle and comes back to you. For me this has been going on since the mid-1990's and it's just started again. If you'll permit, here's a brief history.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Israel is often in the headlines for conflict—but there's another story you need to hear.Beyond the headlines, Israel has emerged as a global innovation hub and a rising player in international markets. Today, Brian Mumbert joins us to share why investing in Israel could be a strategic opportunity worth considering.Brian Mumbert is Vice President and Regional Sales Executive at Timothy Plan, an underwriter of Faith & Finance. Why Invest in Israel? At first glance, investing in a nation experiencing conflict may seem counterintuitive. But economies often demonstrate resilience in times of war. Israel is no exception. With robust defense spending, a thriving entrepreneurial spirit, and a deeply ingrained culture of saving and financial discipline, the nation continues to grow.In fact, one of Israel's largest banks gave out piggy banks to families nationwide to encourage saving—a small example of the country's ingrained culture of stewardship and fiscal responsibility. For those wondering about safety, Israel offers a surprisingly secure environment for investment. The Tel Aviv 125 Index, which tracks the nation's 125 largest companies, operates much like the U.S. stock exchanges. Israel has transitioned from an emerging to a developed economy, putting it in the same global category as many European nations. Its GDP is forecasted to grow by 3.3% in 2025 and 4.6% in 2026, with inflation targeted at a steady 2%—numbers comparable to the U.S. outlook. The “Startup Nation” AdvantageIsrael's reputation as a hub of innovation is well-earned. In 2024 alone, U.S. giants invested billions in Israeli startups. Google acquired cloud security firm Wiz for $32 billion, while Palo Alto Networks purchased CyberArk, an identity management leader, for $25 billion. Everyday technologies like Apple's Face ID and SodaStream also trace their roots back to Israel.Large U.S. companies buying small Israeli firms is common since it's part of the fabric of their economy. While technology dominates headlines, Israel's economy is diverse. Financials, industrials, and defense sectors have also posted strong returns. In fact, nearly every sector reported double-digit growth in 2025. The Israeli shekel has also appreciated, further boosting investor confidence.International ties enhance Israel's economic opportunities. The Abraham Accords have opened new trade relationships across the Middle East, while defense partnerships with Europe have surged amid global conflicts. Recent agreements, such as a $35 billion natural gas export deal with Egypt, demonstrate the nation's expanding role in global energy markets. The Timothy Plan Israel Common Values FundFor investors who want exposure to Israel's growth while remaining true to their faith, Timothy Plan offers the Israel Common Values Fund. This actively managed fund holds 58 companies, giving broad diversification within the Israeli market.True to Timothy Plan's mission, the fund excludes companies that profit from abortion, pornography, or other activities inconsistent with biblical values. Even in Israel, they carefully screen companies to ensure they align with Christian principles.Faith-based investors increasingly want their portfolios to reflect their values. Advances in technology have made it easier to screen companies for alignment, though Timothy Plan has been doing it faithfully since 1994. They're not just avoiding harmful investments, they're enabling believers to steward their resources in ways that honor God.”Practical Advice for InvestorsIf you've never seen faith-based options in your portfolio, start by talking to your advisor. Share what you're passionate about—your church involvement, your giving priorities, your desire for biblical stewardship. When advisors know your values, they can help you align your investments with them. The Timothy Plan Israel Common Values Fund provides a practical way to support Israel and benefit from its dynamic economy—all while investing according to biblical principles. Frank Gruba-McCallister is a clinical psychologist, educator, and scholar whose career spans more than three decades of teaching and academic leadership.  He served as Vice President of Academic Affairs at Adler University, where he helped to reorient the institution's mission toward training socially responsible practitioners. His leadership and curricular reforms contributed to Adler's doctoral program receiving the American Psychological Association's Board of Educational Affairs Award for Innovative Practices in Graduate Education in 2007. He has also taught at the Illinois School of Professional Psychology and The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, and worked as a clinician in both medical settings and private practice. Throughout his career, Dr. Gruba-McCallister has been a steady voice at the intersection of critical psychology, humanistic and existential thought, and spiritual inquiry. He is the author of Embracing Disillusionment: Achieving Liberation Through the Demystification of Suffering, a book that examines how internalized oppression and ideological mystification compound human suffering and how healing demands a deep and sometimes painful confrontation with illusions. His newest book, Radical Healing: No Wellness Without Justice, published by University Professors Press, draws from liberation theology, critical theory, existential psychology, and transpersonal thought to explore the structural and spiritual roots of suffering. At its core is a call to restore moral responsibility, to reclaim compassion and justice as central to any meaningful model of care, and to invite those who seek to heal others to do so with humility, courage, and radical honesty. In our conversation, we discuss the origins of this work, the crises that shape our current moment, and what it might mean to envision psychotherapy as both a spiritual and political act. *** Thank you for being with us to listen to the podcast and read our articles this year. A 107 Reasons to Dislike 107 Days: Kamala Harris Throws Everyone, Including Herself, Under the Bus

    Keen On Democracy

Is there anyone who will defend Kamala Harris' latest debacle, her 107 Days memoir that has irritated prominent Democrats like Josh Shapiro, Tim Walz and Pete Buttigieg? Certainly not the progressive writer David Masciotra, who has appeared on this show several times in the past to defend the former Vice President. According to Masciotra, the person most damaged by the ridiculous narcissism in 107 Days is Harris herself, who appears utterly out of touch with reality. "I was wrong, you were right," Masciotra admitted to me (never a fan of Harris), describing the memoir as a "literary political travesty" that reveals Harris as a "callous, petty, self-involved careerist." Even more damning, Masciotra argues, the book's timing couldn't be worse: while Trump dismantles democracy, Harris chooses to settle scores with the very Democrats who helped her in the last election, effectively torching her political future.1. Progressive Defender Completely Reverses Position on Harris David Masciotra, who previously defended Harris in "spats" with Keen, now admits: "I was wrong, you were right." He calls the memoir a "literary political travesty" revealing Harris as a "callous, petty, self-involved careerist" - a stunning reversal from a left-wing intellectual who wanted to support her against Trump.2. Harris Attacks Every Democrat Who Helped Her The book targets Joe Biden (who made her VP and endorsed her), Tim Walz (her chosen running mate), Josh Shapiro, and even includes complaints from her husband Doug Emhoff. As Masciotra notes, she's "trying to set fire to an already weak, enfeebled Democratic Party" by attacking those who supported her candidacy.3. The Timing Reveals Profound Political Incompetence While Trump "dismantles civil society" and threatens the First Amendment, Harris publishes a book settling personal scores. Masciotra observes she's quoting her husband about being mistreated instead of "quoting a nurse who worked at a defunded Planned Parenthood clinic" or others suffering under Trump's policies.4. The Book Effectively Ends Any Future Political Ambitions Both interviewers agree this memoir kills Harris's political future. When asked if she might run again, Masciotra suggests if she thought this book would launch a 2028 campaign, "she should probably seek psychiatric help rather than political."5. Harris Lives in a Parallel Universe Disconnected from Political Reality The memoir reveals someone who doesn't understand basic humor (missing Gore Vidal's wit), blamed her loss on identity factors ("a black woman married to a Jewish man"), and believed Pete Buttigieg would have been ideal "if I were a straight white man" - showing she fundamentally misunderstands why she lost.Keen On America is a reader-supported publication. In this special solocast of The Athletics of Business Podcast, host Ed Molitor takes us on a personal and powerful journey through the life, lessons, and lasting legacy of legendary coach George Raveling. This isn't about hearing what you want to hear; it's about hearing what you need to hear. Ed shares how Coach Raveling's words and philosophies shaped him as a young boy, carried him through dark times, and continue to guide his leadership and parenting today. Through stories of cassette tapes in a hot car, life-changing camp speeches, and powerful lessons on accountability and resilience, Ed paints a vivid picture of a man who impacted thousands, from athletes to leaders to everyday people, striving to be better.   In Loving Memory of George Raveling - Extract from letter by The Daily Coach On September 1st, the world lost a remarkable person: George Henry Raveling, our mentor, co-founder, and beloved "Coach." He passed away peacefully at 88, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Coach Raveling was born in 1937 in a world that didn't recognize his humanity. Despite the challenges of segregation, he overcame adversity with determination and made a significant impact on countless lives. His legacy is more than just his success in sports and leadership; it's about the people he touched and the transformations he inspired. Coach was a gentle, compassionate, and humble soul. He believed in the importance of relationships over victories. His life was about guiding others, offering wisdom, and caring for people, no matter their background. His approach to leadership was uncommon, challenging the status quo and always staying true to his values. He was a friend, mentor, confidant, and source of inspiration to many. His wisdom and kindness left a lasting impression on all who knew him. Although we are deeply saddened by his loss, we celebrate his 88 years of life—years full of purpose and meaning. Coach's story reminds us that it's never too late to pursue what lights up our soul and make a difference in the world. His mantra, “If it is to be, it's up to me,” embodies his relentless spirit. Coach Raveling's impact transcends accolades. He was simply a good person who lived fully, helping others along the way. He will be remembered for his resilience, curiosity, love for life, and the legacy of kindness he leaves behind. Our condolences and love go to the Raveling family and all who were touched by Coach's life. We will continue to honor his legacy through how we live, love, lead, and treat others. Rest in peace, Coach. You will always be adored and missed.   Our Host Ed is a coach down to the very smallest molecule of his DNA. Whether he's a husband and father at home or working with a client in the business world, he is an energized, passionate, and near-obsessive coach who is fully invested in showing up with all he's got to help you show up with all you've got. His approach insists on presence. He knows no other way to catalyze change except by getting on the court with you, playing side-by-side, and encouraging you to keep pushing, especially when the going gets tough.  In the last 30 years, Ed has developed his leadership skills in both athletics and business. From working as an NCAA Basketball coach at Texas A&M, DePaul NIU, and Lewis University to becoming the Vice President of a national recruiting firm, Ed Molitor has experienced the potential and pitfalls of leadership at every level.  As the founder and CEO of The Molitor Group, today Ed guides emerging and established leaders across biopharma and biotech to apply the proven lessons of coaching in their pursuit of inspiring and driving their team's performance.  Through personalized training, workshops, keynote speeches, his writing, and as a podcast host, Ed seeks to empower individuals and their organizations to achieve victory through a focus on transformation, fundamentals, compassion, mental toughness, and vision. Ed graduated from St. Ambrose University with a B.S. in Business Administration and a minor in Economics where he was a member of the Men's Basketball team serving as the co-captain his Senior year. Before St. Ambrose, he studied business at Creighton University where he played on the Men's Basketball teams which included a 1989 MVC Regular Season and Tournament Champions, NCAA Tournament, and a 1990 NIT Tournament.   What You'll Learn in This Episode “If it is to be, it's up to me.” How Coach Raveling's famous mantra instilled ownership, responsibility, and resilience. The importance of telling people what they need to hear, not just what they want to hear. How leadership is less about wins and losses and more about relationships, impact, and transformation. Personal reflections on parenting, leadership, and carrying forward Coach Raveling's legacy. Why his influence extended beyond basketball shaping culture, mentorship, and even history (including his role in the March on Washington and the creation of Air Jordan).   Resources & Links Ed Molitor LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/themolitorgroup/ Website: https://www.themolitorgroup.com/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@theathleticsofbusiness    Timestamps (00:00) Introduction to Coach George Raveling (01:13) The lasting impact of Coach Raveling's lessons (03:34) "If it is to be, it is up to me": The power of personal ownership (05:42) How Coach's teachings shaped Ed's life and leadership (07:53) The role of mentors in personal growth and leadership (10:45) Coach Raveling's influence on basketball and beyond (12:18) Stories from Ed's childhood and the influence of Coach Raveling (14:56) The importance of relationships over wins and losses (16:35) Reflections on mentorship and legacy (18:42) Coach Raveling's role in shaping Michael Jordan's partnership with Nike (21:00) The power of community in leadership (23:06) The importance of mentorship for emerging leaders (25:01) Final reflections on living a life of impact and leadership
