Lo scorso fine settimana è stato animato da un paio di campionati italiani di atletica: il Campionato italiano di atletica al coperto al Pala Casali ad Ancona e i Campionati italiani della 100 chilometri sulle strade di Porto Recanati (Macerata).Il primo, una vera e propria festa dell’atletica dove, nonostante grandi le assenze, le emozioni comunque non sono mancate. Come le doppie medaglie nei 1500 e nei 3000 che ci facciamo raccontare da Ludovica Cavalli e da Federico Riva entrambi campioni italiani nelle due distanze.Poi con Dario Ferrante allunghiamo le distanze per raccontare il suo titolo italiano sulla 100 chilometri. Il 25 enne di Pantelleria, alla sua seconda esperienza sulla distanza, ha chiuso la gara in 6h41:44. Infine, chiudiamo la puntata con il piano di allenamento di 12 settimane per correre una mezza maratona, grazie ai consigli del coach Fabio Vedana. Siamo alla decima settimana di allenamento.

His family owns a small vineyard in the countryside of Campobello (north-east of the island), a vineyard with outcropping volcanic rocks, capers and Zibibbo vines, 30 meters above the sea level and at around 300 meters from seaside. With the help of the oenologist Antonio D'Aietti – expert on the Pantelleria winemaking tradition who took care of more than forty harvests on the island – and with four other friends, he founded the Vinisola company in 2010. Care amiche, cari amici, benvenuti in un nuovo episodio di Storia dei carabinieri; siamo arrivati al settantunesimo (71°) episodio della serie “normale”. State ascoltando una puntata della quarta stagione del podcast di Storia dell'Arma dei Carabinieri . Dunque qual'era la situazione in Italia nell'estate 1943? Abbiamo pensato proprio a una puntata dedicata a questo tema per aiutare chi ci ascolta a comprendere aspetti che, a torto, si potrebbero pensare minori. La situazione politica e sociale è complessa. Nella primavera i primi scioperi negli impianti industriali del Nord Italia avevano messo a nudo la situazione e chiarito quale fosse la volontà dei cittadini, stanchi di 3 anni di guerra, di lutti e di bombardamenti. Nel mese di maggio era caduto anche l'ultimo baluardo in Africa Settentrionale. Il 13 maggio si era arreso ufficialmente il generale italiano Giovanni Messe, promosso maresciallo d'Italia per l'occasione, mentre quello tedesco Hans-Jürgen von Arnim era stato catturato il giorno precedente. Si trattava ora di capire solamente la data di quello che sarebbe passato alla storia come il più grande sbarco alleato in Europa: la conquista della Sicilia! Infatti, nel giugno caddero progressivamente le isole che facevano da avamposti italiani in Mediterraneo: dapprima Lampedusa (11 giugno), poi Linosa, Lampione e Pantelleria che cedette il 12 giugno dopo un'accanita resistenza della contraerea italiana che riuscì ad abbattere 45 aerei inglesi. Insieme allo sbarco degli alleati in Sicilia (10 luglio 1943), vi furono numerosi scioperi che colpirono ancora una volta il Nord Italia industrializzato e che confermarono l'esasperazione degli italiani verso una guerra e una morte che non apparteneva loro. Nel frattempo, il cosiddetto alleato tedesco, nella Sicilia ancora pre-armistizio, diede dimostrazione di quello che avrebbe commesso nei mesi successivi. Infatti, prima il 12 luglio 1943, si macchiò della strage di Canicattì ove i soldati tedeschi uccisero 6 vittime civili innocenti; nell'agosto successivo, si macchiarono della strage di Castiglione di Sicilia (12-14 agosto 1943) con 16 morti e 20 feriti gravi, continuò con quella di Canicattì, mentre il 14 agosto dopo aver ucciso un civile che si opponeva al saccheggio di un'abitazione, sempre soldati tedeschi ammazzarono a sangue freddo 5 Carabinieri mentre un sesto al quale pure spararono miracolosamente si salvò. Si sarebbe entrati a breve in quella fase storica della vita del nostro Paese che lo storico Claudio Pavone avrebbe indicato come guerra civile. Despite the bravery of black troops in the First World War, the U.S. Armed Forces were reluctant to admit African-Americans at the start of World War II. Under increasing public pressure, the Army Air Corps set up a training center for Black Americans in Tuskegee, Alabama. In April of 1943, the first class to graduate from the Tuskegee Institute were designated the 99th Pursuit Squadron in North Africa. Due to segregation within the Armed service, the squadron was all-black, but the bomber groups they escorted were not. The Tuskegee Airmen achieved distinction in the aerial assault of the Italian island at Pantelleria, and would live on as trailblazing legends in American history.

In the Mediterranean, Allied bombers were holding Italian islands and Italy itself under constant attack to ensure clear shipping lanes for the invasion of Sicily. Assaulting the island of Pantelleria was the first step. In the years prior to war, the Italians had labored to heavily fortify the island. On June 1, 1943, Allies began around the clock bombing of Pantelleria. The raid slowly intensified until June 11.
