Protein in DietIf you've been to the grocery store lately, it is hard to miss the new diet fad — protein. It is being added to everything from milk to ramen to popcorn to cereal to sports drinks. Last week, Buffalo Wild Wings released a wing-flavored protein-filled espresso martini that they're calling "Espresso Proteini." But what does the science say about how much protein we actually need in our diets? Is this filling a nutritional need or is it just another food craze? The recently-revised food pyramid from the U.S. Health and Human Services Department emphasizes protein, as well as dairy, healthy fats, fruits and vegetables as the largest categories of our diet. What happens when a small experimental wine project turns into one of the most recognizable brands in the grocery store?In this episode of Business of Drinks, we sit down with John Anthony Truchard, Founder and CEO of John Anthony Wine & Spirits, the company behind Butter Wines.What began as a 1,000-case experiment in 2009 has grown into a brand approaching 800,000 cases annually, with Butter itself scaling to more than $85 million in revenue. At one point, the brand controlled roughly 18% of the $15–$20 Chardonnay segment in the U.S. — an extraordinary share in a crowded category.Even more unusual: The brand achieved that scale without outside investment. Instead of venture capital, Truchard relied on bank financing, disciplined inventory management, and one “north star” signal — strong consumer pull.As he explains in this episode, aggressively scaling Butter wasn't the riskiest decision he made. It was the least risky because the wine kept selling out in the markets where it launched.We unpack how Butter found its market seam by delivering a rich, barrel-style Chardonnay at a price point between mass brands like Kendall-Jackson and premium players like Rombauer. The world has not felt this scary since the 1980s, when the Cold War suddenly became frigid. A new war against Iran, fermented over decades of distrust and now encouraged to spill over into armed conflict, has inevitably brought disruption to the Middle East and as far away as Cyprus. Global transport hubs, including airports, have taken missile and drone hits, threatening civilians and the region's key business and VIP aviation infrastructure. We have also seen a bizarre presidential proclamation aimed at Canada's civilian aircraft regulator thrust business aviation unexpectedly into the international spotlight. It seemed to take most industry insiders by surprise, sending them scurrying to discover if it had any legal foundation at all. Meanwhile, as we lurch from one geopolitical crisis to another, let us not forget Venezuela, Mexico and the still-raging, bloody war between Russia and Ukraine. The market has largely adapted to the repercussions of the latter conflict, while the very end of February and first days of March have seen business jets positioning away from airports under threat in the Gulf, as airspace closures allow. The impact in the longer term remains uncertain, but elsewhere the business of business aviation continues with its usual resilience. On that basis, in this issue we look at a cross-section of FBOs from across the US, discovering the expected dedication to customer service and safety, but also an underlying enthusiasm simply for being around aviation. In some cases the bug seems to have bitten especially hard, evidenced through the thoughts of Tony Buckley, President & CEO of jetCenters of Colorado and Customer Service Manager Kawai Lopez at Monterey Jet Center, among others. In the 1960s, the CIA lost a plutonium-fueled generator on top of a mountain in India. The generator was supposed to power an unmanned listening station, intended to pick up signals from China's missile tests. But when mountaineers ascended the near 26,000-ft Nanda Devi – under the guise of studying the environment – weather got in their way. They left the nuclear device behind and months later, when they returned, it was gone. New York Times reporter Jeffrey Gettleman reconstructed this event with a team of journalists. The story took about seven years, thousands of miles, and earning the trust of many men who had grown old and have since passed away. How is AI reshaping our relationship with work, and what does that mean for the tools we rely on every day? In this episode of Tech Talks Daily, I'm joined by Cory McElroy, Vice President of Commercial Product Management at HP. Our conversation begins with a reflection on one of the most famous garages in technology history. The original HP garage in Palo Alto is often described as the birthplace of Silicon Valley, and standing there recently reminded me how far the industry has come since those early days. But as Cory explains, we may be entering another turning point. The nature of work has shifted rapidly in just a few years. Hybrid work is now the norm for millions of people, and expectations around workplace technology have changed with it. Employees no longer see technology as a basic productivity tool. They expect it to adapt to them, reduce friction, and help them focus on meaningful work. Cory shares insights from HP's Work Relationship Index, which highlights a striking reality. Only around 20 percent of employees say they have a healthy relationship with work. That number sounds concerning at first, but it also points to an opportunity. When organizations provide the right tools and experiences, employees become more productive, more creative, and more likely to stay. A big theme throughout our conversation is the growing role of AI directly on devices. Running AI locally on PCs changes how people interact with technology. Tasks that once took hours, such as analyzing documents or extracting insights from data, can now happen almost instantly. In some internal deployments at HP, employees reported saving up to four hours each week. We also talk about the hardware innovations that are emerging in response to this shift. Cory explains how new devices like the HP EliteBook X and the EliteBoard reflect a rethink of the PC itself. The EliteBoard, for example, integrates a full PC inside a keyboard, allowing users to connect to any display and instantly access desktop-level performance. It is a design that reflects the flexibility people now expect from modern workspaces. Looking ahead, Cory believes the next few years will bring even bigger change. Devices will increasingly understand context, connect seamlessly with other tools, and respond to natural language requests. Instead of jumping between multiple applications to complete a task, users may simply ask their device to assemble information and produce the outcome they need. So as AI becomes embedded into the devices we use every day and work continues to evolve, what would a truly frictionless workday look like for you, and how will your relationship with technology change as a result?

And it always ends badly for those who get seduced into it.The Egyptian Pharaoh attempted to kill male Jewish babies, and his country was destroyed by God's plagues. Haman in Persia (modern-day Iran) plotted to exterminate all Jews in the kingdom, and he and his 10 sons were executed. In the 20th century, Hitler launched an attempt to annihilate the Jewish people. He died, and Germany lost World War II.There have been many more examples of enmity toward the Jews throughout history and yet the Jewish people continue to survive and even prosper.Anti-Israel, anti-Jewish hostility is inspired by Satan. How so? Satan is driven to thwart God's plan. So to exterminate the Jews before the coming of Jesus Christ, Himself a Jew, would be to foil God's promise of a Savior. To destroy Israel now would be to derail God's promise to save Israel and the return of Christ.Fundamentally, the lack of peace in the Middle East is about Israel's neighbors open hostility toward the Jewish people's presence. The Jews did not take back Israel through force of arms in 1948 but through declarations by Britain and the United Nations. No matter, the newly established State of Israel was attacked immediately by her Arab neighbors.This helps explain why Iran and its proxies across the Middle East, like Hamas in Gaza, Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Houthis in Yemen, who although holding differing Islamic beliefs, are united by an unquenchable hatred and motive to destroy Israel.But it's not just the Middle East. The spiritual contagion of enmity toward the Jews and Israel has infected many in the West. The political and theological left, which are basically one and the same, are characterized by this. But what is troubling is that the political and theological right (i.e. conservatives) are succumbing as well. Notable influencers like Tucker Carlson, Candance Owens, and Nick Fuentes, along with many others, openly and loudly deride Israel and the Jews, asserting:The modern-day people in Israel aren't JewsThe Jews control America and the U.S. does Israel's bidding in the Middle EastThe Jews are the great corruptors in the world and seek global dominionIsrael is a genocidal oppressorEven if there was any truth to these defamations, none of it would cancel God's unbreakable promise: “God has not rejected His people, has He? Furthermore, Iran's nuclear program is described as a subset of the North Korean program, which was historically promoted by China to keep the U.S. pinned down. Domestically, China continues to ignore promises to stop the flow of fentanyl precursors, with participants noting that leader Xi Jinping has now "dishonored" four such promises to U.S. presidents. (5)U.S. Navy Operational Limits The U.S. Navy is currently facing significant strain, described as being "tightly squeezed" regarding its aircraft carrier fleet. The USS Gerald R. Ford has seen its deployment extended to 11 months, performing continuous combat operations in the Mediterranean and Caribbean. Similarly, the USS Nimitz, which was scheduled for decommissioning, has had its service extended to participate in Southern Command exercises.
