Suzanne Lindsay-Walker is Vice President, Sustainability, for Novelis Inc. In this role, Suzanne leads the development and implementation of the company's global sustainability strategy and vision to achieve net carbon neutrality by 2050. She is also responsible for Novelis' Corporate Social Responsibility efforts. Suzanne joined Novelis in May 2021. Prior to Novelis, Suzanne was the Chief Sustainability Officer and Vice President of Environmental Affairs for UPS. In this position, she was responsible for driving solutions and delivering results to achieve UPS's sustainability goals, as well as developing the company's forward-looking sustainability strategy. Before UPS, Suzanne held positions of increasing responsibility in sustainability at Brambles USA, The Kroger Co. and PetSmart. She began her career as a civil engineer, focused on land development for retail and commercial clients. Suzanne holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Lawrence Technological University in Southfield, Michigan. Suzanne Joins Sustainable Nation to Discuss: Novelis' circular business model as the world's largest aluminum recycler Novelis' 3x30 sustainability strategy Collaboration and stakeholder engagement internally and externally Advice and recommendations for sustainability professionals Suzanne Final Five Questions Responses: What is one piece of advice you would give other sustainability professionals that might help them in their careers? I would say when you hear “no,” and you will hear no often, take it as “no, not right now.” What I found in my career is that some good ideas usually take six months to a year or even more to seed, but keep at it. Keep planting the seeds, keep watering them, because business cases and attitudes will evolve over time. I'm a bit of a bulldog, and I don't let things die, so I'll just keep pounding away at things until I can find an opening. Sometimes you just have to be patient, but keep at it. What are you most excited about right now in the world of sustainability? How many opportunities there are in this space, how many jobs are available, and opportunities for young people to drive positive impact in their everyday work lives. I think that so much of what I see coming into the workforce is people that want to work for a company where they can do just that. There's so many jobs available, which I think is amazing. That, to me, is exciting because we need as many advocates and people that want to drive that positive impact as we can get, because we have a long way to go before 2050 hits. What is one book you would recommend sustainability leaders read? One that I read early on and it's kind of old school, but it was Strategy for Sustainability by Adam Werbach. He crystallized the business of sustainability in a very real way for me at a time when I worked at Kroger, when I was trying to think through the strategy there. The examples and things that he brought together, I think at its highest level, is still a frame that can work today. That's many, many years ago, but it's always one that I go back to. What are some of your favorite resources or tools that really help you in your work? I get a lot of daily digests and updates from Trellis, I get all the digests from WBCSD, WEF. I try to consume as much as I can in those formats because you do have to have a job to do, but I also like to keep a pulse on what's going on. I find that having that stuff delivered to you on a daily basis allows me to kind of keep the pulse of what's going on, and I enjoy reading them. Where can our listeners go to learn more about you and the work being done at Novelis? I would love for people to check out our 2024 sustainability report. We launched it several months ago, but it really tries to tell all the good stories and the proof points of what we're trying to accomplish here. Novelis.com is where you can find it.

Last Saturday the United States launched airstrikes on three key Iranian nuclear facilities. While many Americans feared the country was on the brink of full-scale war, many were surprised when the President announced Monday on Truth Social that a "Complete and Total CEASEFIRE" had been reached. Moments after this announcement, Bret sat down with Vice President JD Vance for an exclusive interview — where the Vice President reacted live to the ceasefire agreement, shared how successful he believed the strikes were, and explained why he supported America's attack on Iran despite long-standing hesitation about getting directly involved in the past. I am honored to connect with Eamon Dolan today. Eamon is a book editor and is currently the Vice President and Executive Editor at Simon and Schuster. In our conversation, we discuss Eamon's book, The Power of Parting, where he explores the often-overlooked realities of abuse, shedding light on the lack of education and understanding of various types of abuse, including physical, sexual, psychological, and neglect. We explore the effects of shame, the silent conspiracy that surrounds abuse, and ways in which neuroplasticity and intentional parenting can help break generational cycles. We examine the effects of complex PTSD, adverse childhood experiences, and the connection between early trauma and physical ailments like autoimmune disorders, reproductive challenges, and digestive issues. We also reflect on our roles in childhood, how abuse shapes the developing brain, the dangers of gaslighting, and the traits of narcissistic personality disorder. In this candid and personal conversation, I share my childhood and what I witnessed while growing up with Eamon, hoping to offer clarity, comfort, and a sense of connection to anyone facing similar challenges. The Power of Parting is an essential read, particularly for those of us navigating the lasting effects of childhood abuse. IN THIS EPISODE, YOU WILL LEARN: The culture of silence surrounding abuse has led to many cases going unheard and unreported Neurological and psychological effects of abuse Humans are wired to form family bonds with strangers. How abusive and chaotic environments often become normalized for those living within them Why survivors of abuse need to reframe their family relationships Statistics on abuse survivors and the likelihood of breaking abuse cycles Traumatic stress disorder vs.PTSD? Gaslighting is not benign. How abused children tend to rationalize mistreatment, believing it comes from love Holding family members to the same standards as friends Breaking free from toxic relationships Bio: Eamon Dolan has worked as an editor at HarperCollins, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, and Penguin Press. It has been fully agreed by and between Israel and Iran that there will be a Complete and Total CEASEFIRE (in approximately 6 hours from now, when Israel and Iran have wound down and completed their in progress, final missions!), for 12 hours, at which point the War will be considered, ENDED! Officially, Iran will start the CEASEFIRE and, upon the 12th Hour, Israel will start the CEASEFIRE and, upon the 24th Hour, an Official END to THE 12 DAY WAR will be saluted by the World. During each CEASEFIRE, the other side will remain PEACEFUL and RESPECTFUL. On the assumption that everything works as it should, which it will, I would like to congratulate both Countries, Israel and Iran, on having the Stamina, Courage, and Intelligence to end, what should be called, ‘THE 12 DAY WAR.' This is a War that could have gone on for years, and destroyed the entire Middle East, but it didn't, and never will! God bless Israel, God bless Iran, God bless the Middle East, God bless the United States of America, and GOD BLESS THE WORLD!”
The Rich Zeoli Show- Full Episode (06/23/2025): 3:05pm- On Saturday night, seven U.S. B-2 bombers dropped a total of fourteen 30,000-pound bunker-buster bombs on Iranian nuclear sites in Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan. In a press conference following the strategic strike, President Donald Trump called the mission a “spectacular military success.” 3:10pm- On Monday, Iran responded to U.S. strikes on key nuclear development facilities by launching missiles at an American base in Qatar—the largest American military installation in the Middle East. The Defense Department has said the air defense systems intercepted the missiles and there were no U.S. casualties. 3:20pm- During a press conference Sunday night, Joint Chiefs of Staff Chair Dan Caine revealed that Iranian air defense never spotted the American B-2 bombers over Iranian airspace and, consequently, never fired a single shot during Saturday night's strategic bombing. 3:30pm- Deputy Head of Russian President Vladimir Putin's Security Council Dmitry Medvedev called America's strike on Iranian nuclear facilities a “dangerous escalation” and suggested other countries may supply Iran with a nuclear weapon—though, he did not say which nations. 3:40pm- Secretary of State Marco Rubio has warned Iran not to shut down the Strait of Hormuz with mines. China, an ally of Iran, has echoed a similar sentiment. Could Iran respond by shutting down the Strait of Hormuz, and what would that mean for oil prices globally? 5:20pm- While appearing on Fox News, Trump Administration Border Czar Tom Homan discussed potential Iranian sleeper cells in the United States—explaining that the Biden Administration's relaxed border security policies resulted in “1,272 nationals of Iran released” into the U.S. 5:40pm- Breaking News: The Supreme Court has stayed a lower court order and will allow the Trump Administration to deport illegal migrants swiftly to countries where they don't have citizenship. 5:50pm- Did Mel Gibson and Pierce Brosnan turn down the role of Batman? 6:05pm- Dr. Victoria Coates—Former Deputy National Security Advisor & the Vice President of the Davis Institute for National Security and Foreign Policy at The Heritage Foundation—joins The Rich Zeoli Show and reacts to the United States's strategic strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.
