Some experts say that Carbon 60 is the way to go – and Dr. Joe Nieusma joins the podcast to share his thoughts… Dr. Nieusma is the Senior Toxicologist at Live Longer Labs, a company that provides C60 supplements to relieve oxidative stress and promote longevity. Within 4 to 5 days, it knocks out the acetylcholine receptors in your muscles and exits your body. It takes 6 to 8 weeks for your body to repair these receptors, and once the repairs are complete, your forehead starts moving too much all over again. Before you know it, it's time for your next dose!
What if you could slow down aging—without supplements, gimmicks, or starvation? Dr. Michael Greger, bestselling author of How Not to Die, returns to The Exam Room with an anti-aging blueprint. In this conversation with Chuck Carroll, we dive into his latest project, The How Not to Age Cookbook, and explore how to use everyday ingredients to support longevity, prevent disease, and feel energized at any age. From the science behind protein, muscle, and hormones, to the surprising foods that boost sexual health, brain function, and skin appearance—Dr. Greger breaks it all down.

Drs. Bass and Edinger break down what a facelift can and can't do. Facelifts are great for tightening loose skin, lifting jowls, and restoring volume in the face and neck—helping you look more refreshed and youthful. But they don't address everything. Wrinkles, sun damage, and changes around the eyes and brows usually need other treatments. There's a big difference between how facelifts are described online and how surgeons talk about them. The doctors break down that language gap so you know what those buzzwords actually mean. Bottom line: A facelift is the gold standard for sagging skin, but knowing its limits is key to getting natural-looking results. Find out who's a good candidate for a facelift, how long the results typically last, and whether combining it with other procedures might give you the outcome you're really looking for. In this episode of Skin Anarchy, host Dr. Ekta sits down with Tony J. Abboud, Chief Commercial Officer of Core Biogenesis, for an eye-opening conversation on the cutting-edge science behind bioidentical proteins in skincare. Tony brings a biotech insider's perspective to the world of beauty, revealing how plant-based protein technology is unlocking a new era of truly effective, science-backed formulations.Core Biogenesis is tackling a long-standing challenge in skincare: the instability and inefficiency of traditional proteins and peptides. Tony breaks down how their team uses camelina sativa plants as natural bioreactors to produce high-purity, bioidentical growth factors like EGF and FGF—compounds that naturally support skin repair and collagen synthesis but decline with age. The innovation doesn't stop there: Core Biogenesis' breakthrough delivery system, oleosomes, stabilizes these proteins and enhances their penetration, leading to significantly better efficacy than traditional formats. This isn't just theoretical science—Tony explains how Core Biogenesis' oleosome-bound EGF retained 93% activity under stress conditions, compared to just 8% with standard EGF. With performance like this, consumers could see visible results in just 14 to 30 days. It's a game-changing advancement for skincare brands and users alike.Whether you're a skincare enthusiast, product formulator, or biotech curious, this episode offers a fascinating look into the future of skincare—one where biology, sustainability, and innovation converge. Welcome back to Pushing the Limits for another insightful episode. Today, we dive into Kaatsu Training with Sandy Nelson, exploring how this blood flow restriction technique boosts bone density, muscle growth, and brain health for older adults and athletes. Key Points: Research suggests Kaatsu Training helps older adults with osteopenia by improving bone density. It seems likely that Kaatsu Training increases IGF-1 and BDNF, supporting muscle and brain health. The evidence leans toward Kaatsu Training offering neuroprotection, likely via BDNF. Kaatsu Training appears to enhance athlete performance, aiding recovery and strength. What is Kaatsu Training? Kaatsu Training, also known as Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) training, is a method where special bands partially restrict blood flow to the limbs during exercise. This creates a hypoxic environment in the muscles, promoting growth and strength with lighter loads. It was developed in Japan by Dr. Yoshiaki Sato and is used for both rehabilitation and performance enhancement. Benefits for Older Adults and Osteopenia For older adults, Kaatsu Training can help combat osteopenia, a condition with low bone density. Studies suggest it can maintain or increase bone density, reducing fracture risk and supporting mobility, especially for those with joint issues like osteoarthritis. Its low-impact nature makes it suitable, allowing strength gains without excessive joint stress. Impact on IGF-1, BDNF, and Neuroprotection Research indicates Kaatsu Training increases Insulin-like Growth Factor 1 (IGF-1), vital for muscle and bone health, and Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF), important for brain health. This likely contributes to neuroprotection, potentially reducing neurodegenerative disease risk by supporting cognitive function. Benefits for Athletes For athletes, Kaatsu Training can enhance performance by improving muscle strength and hypertrophy with lighter weights. It can also aid recovery by promoting growth hormones, reducing muscle damage, and allowing more frequent, intense training, benefiting Olympians and professional athletes. Use code "Nelson" at Kaatsu.com for 10% off to start incorporating this training Sandy Nelson Bio "Never before have I seen a modality that gives such a robust hormonal response and promotes the biochemical factors we need to stay strong and sharp as we age." As a KAATSU Certified Coach, Sandy specializes in helping build and maintain your strength and stamina over 50. She also helps healthcare professionals implement KAATSU within their practices and with their clients.

DHEA was first identified in 1931 by Dr. Adolf Butenandt, who was awarded the Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 1939. Frequently called “the anti-aging hormone”, DHEA is a base for more than 50 hormones that are smaller or more specific carbon chain molecules in human biochemistry. As a precursor for all estrogenic and androgenic hormones, humans make DHEA naturally from birth. It's now well established that chronic stress leads to an out-pouring of cortisol and with that, a gradual depletion of DHEA. DHEA is a prohormone – a natural building block for hormones our bodies make. Over time, this hormonal imbalance can lead to brain fog, thinning bones, weight gain, low sex drive and poor Immune function.Maintaining proper DHEA levels in the body is important to your overall health and may lead to Increased energy, enhanced mood and focus, sound sleep, and better letting skin.Guest: Joining us today is Hugh Woodward, He is the President of Health2Go, Inc the makers of Twist 25 DHEA cream. Hugh is a subject matter expert on DHEA dedicating nearly 2 decades of his life studying the medical research about it, and starting a company to research, develop the safest most effective DHEA supplement that can be made and distributing it.In 2007 Mr. Woodward started Health2Go, Inc. to research and develop leading edge anti-aging and wellness products and bring them to people conveniently and cost effectively.Quality matters when supplementing with DHEA.Twist 25 DHEA Cream puts exactly what the body makes naturally – bioidentical DHEA -in the skin, where the body processes DHEA. Are you navigating perimenopause or menopause while also managing chronic health conditions? Or perhaps perimenopause has triggered an underlying, previously dormant issue? Traditional healthcare may not be enough to combat the symptoms, but do not fear! Today's guest is here to teach us how your nervous system, immune system, and hormones can all work together to support healing and longevity. This week, host Jenn Trepeck is joined by Dr. Jessica Drummond, Founder and CEO of The Integrative Women's Health Institute. Together, they explore how seemingly “silent” chronic conditions like endometriosis, pelvic pain, autoimmune disorders or even long covid, can complicate menopause—and what you can do about it. Dr. Drummond shares her insights on calming the nervous system, building metabolic health through nutrient-dense habits, and using tools like heart rate variability (HRV) to guide recovery. The Salad With a Side of Fries podcast is hosted by Jenn Trepeck, who discusses wellness and weight loss for real life, clearing up the myths, misinformation, bad science & marketing surrounding our nutrition knowledge and the food industry. Let's dive into wellness and weight loss for real life, including drinking, eating out, and skipping the grocery store. IN THIS EPISODE: (00:00) The impact of menopause on silent chronic conditions(05:44) Dr. Jessica Drummond reflects on her professional journey in the chronic condition space(11:11) Common underlying chronic conditions affecting menopause(16:08) Discussion of the silent underlying conditions that can manifest later in life(25:43) Calming the nervous system to heal in a consistent way(30:50) The importance of your metabolic health in the form of nutrient-dense food, strength training, walking, hydration and circadian rhythm(32:09) Discussion of heart rate variability, recovery, and developing the art of sitting quietly(41:36) The importance of working with a health coach to plan for the future of your healthKEY TAKEAWAYS:Menopause and perimenopause symptoms can be overwhelming on their own. Still, when layered on top of chronic conditions like endometriosis, pelvic pain, autoimmune disorders, or post-viral syndromes (e.g., long COVID), it creates a compounded health challenge. Traditional training often overlooks the role of nutrition, nervous system regulation, and lifestyle in healing. Chronic conditions—especially during perimenopause—require a personalized, holistic strategy.Healing during menopause doesn't require drastic changes—small, consistent steps matter most. Start where it feels easiest, like mindfulness, nutrition, or gentle movement. Recovery and nervous system regulation are just as important as action. Tools like heart rate variability (HRV) can help track progress, showing that true resilience comes from balancing effort with rest.Integrating the nervous, immune, and hormone systems is the key to living a longer, more active, healthier life. When these systems are balanced and working together, they support overall well-being and longevity.QUOTES: (10:04) “In my traditional physical therapy training, nutrition was not emphasized as a healing tool. It was more like you needed adequate nutrients to perform certain physical activities, but we didn't think about it from an anti-inflammatory standpoint.” - Dr. Jessica Drummond(13:59) “Research shows us that acute illnesses like infections trigger chronic diseases.” - Dr. Jessica Drummond(22:36) “It's exposing these underlying things that have been lying dormant, that we just brushed aside or pushed through because they weren't really standing in the way of us doing the things that we wanted to do.” - Jenn Trepeck(40:19) “I think we make these plans expecting perfection, planning for this optimal, ideal day that never happens. So put these things in place so they happen even on the days where we don't feel a hundred percent, even on the days where nothing goes as planned.” - Jenn TrepeckRESOURCES:Become A Member of Salad with a Side of FriesJenn's Free Menu PlanA Salad With a Side of FriesA Salad With A Side Of Fries MerchA Salad With a Side of Fries InstagramUse Your Heart Rate Monitor to Improve Your Health GUEST RESOURCES:The Integrative Women's Health InstituteIntegrative Women's Health - Podcast Integrative Women's Health - PubMedInnovative Approaches to Chronic Pain with The Anodunos Method TeamGUEST BIOGRAPHY:Dr. Jessica Drummond, DCN, CNS, PT, NBC-HWC, is a leading expert in women's health and the Founder and CEO of The Integrative Women's Health Institute. Sleep is not just a luxury—it's a foundational pillar of health that influences nearly every aspect of our well-being. Sleep deprivation doesn't just cause fatigue; it disrupts hormones, drives inflammation, damages metabolism, and accelerates aging. From the gut microbiome to stress hormones like cortisol, sleep is deeply intertwined with brain, immune, and metabolic health. Yet our modern world—filled with late-night screens, ultra-processed foods, and chronic stress—works against quality rest. In this episode, I discuss, along with Dr. Matt Walker and Shawn Stevenson, why we need to address sleep as a core health priority to unlock healing, prevention of chronic disease, and renewed vitality. Matthew Walker earned his PhD in neuroscience from the Medical Research Council in the UK, and subsequently became a Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. He is currently a Professor of Neuroscience and Psychology at the University of California, Berkeley, and director of the Center for Human Sleep Science. Matt's research focuses on the effect of sleep on human health and disease, brain, and body. He has published more than 100 scientific research studies and has received numerous funding awards from the National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health. Matt has given a main-stage TED Talk that has been viewed over 13 million times, has also created several TED Miniseries on sleep, a MasterClass series on sleep, and is author of the New York Times bestseller, Why We Sleep. Matt is also the host of the 5-star-rated, The Matt Walker Podcast. Shawn Stevenson is the author of the USA Today National bestseller Eat Smarter, and the international bestselling book Sleep Smarter. He's also the creator of The Model Health Show, featured as the number #1 health podcast in the U.S. with millions of listener downloads each month. A graduate of the University of Missouri–St. Louis, Shawn studied business, biology, and nutritional science and became the cofounder of Advanced Integrative Health Alliance. Shawn has been featured in Forbes, Fast Company, The New York Times, Muscle & Fitness, ABC News, ESPN, and many other major media outlets. This episode is brought to you by BIOptimizers.
