What if six months is all it takes to change your life? In this episode, I break down a simple three-step plan to stop drifting, get clear on what you want, and build the discipline to follow through. We'll cover choosing a high-income skill, creating a plan that works, and why disappearing for six months could completely transform who you become. If you want to be a high performer in 2026, click here: https://2026workshop.com/ If you want 2026 to be your best year yet then this video is for you. Most people think mindset is everything. Tony Robbins knows better — it's what comes before mindset that determines whether you break through or break down. After 49 years coaching everyone from world leaders to suicidal strangers, the legendary peak performance strategist has cracked the code on why most people set goals they never keep, make decisions they never follow through on, and stay stuck in patterns they know are destroying their lives. In this raw, unfiltered conversation, Tony breaks down the exact three-step formula for creating breakthroughs that actually last: state, story, and strategy — in that order. We dive into why your emotional state controls everything you perceive, how the stories you tell yourself become the limitations you live by, and why even the best strategy in the world won't work if you're in the wrong state when you try to execute it. Tony reveals why fasting is easier than dieting (absolutes beat negotiation every time), how a general made a 10-year Pentagon decision in 40 minutes, and why most people confuse deciding with committing when real transformation requires resolve. But this isn't theory — it's applied psychology from the trenches. Tony walks through his actual intervention process, why he asks 167 questions before making one statement, how he reads people's top two human needs in minutes, and why sometimes you have to offend someone to actually help them. We get into why positive thinking is bullshit without capability, how a $78,000 betrayal became his greatest teacher, and why the law of attraction is real but dangerously incomplete. If you've ever set a New Year's resolution and abandoned it by February, or if you're tired of knowing what to do but not doing it, this episode will rewire how you think about change, discipline, and what it actually takes to destroy the negative thoughts holding you back. Protect what you own. Next makes it fast, simple, and painless. Is the discomfort you're trying to fix actually the signal calling you back to your soul instead of another problem to solve? Josh Trent welcomes Ex-Comedian, Kyle Cease, to the Wellness + Wisdom Podcast, episode 791, to explore how fasting dissolves emotional hunger, why effort and ambition are often trauma driven, how the ego uses goals and problems to stay in control, why pain is a spiritual teacher, and how surrendering identity, outcomes, and the need to be someone can reconnect us to soul, presence, and God.
What if the chaos in your life isn't coming from the world around you but from the thoughts running in your head? In this episode, I break down how overthinking and catastrophizing create unnecessary anxiety, why your brain constantly jumps to the worst-case scenario, and how learning to challenge your thoughts helps you step out of your head and back into a calmer, more peaceful life. January often invites us to push harder, fix ourselves, or finally “get it right.” But for the neurodivergent brain and nervous system, real change requires a very different starting point. In this opening episode of our January series, Ashley Bentley introduces a compassionate, neuroscience-informed framework for breakthrough inspired by Tony Robbins' work and refined through years of therapeutic practice. You'll discover why lasting change doesn't begin with strategy, willpower, or self-criticism — but with your inner state, your nervous system, and the stories you're living inside. This episode gently reframes breakthrough as a learnable process, one that works with your sensitivity, depth, and pattern-recognition rather than against it.The episode closes with a richly immersive guided meditation designed to help your system soften, settle, and prepare the ground for meaningful change. This is the beginning of a different kind of January — one rooted in safety, self-trust, and real transformation.❤️ Support the ShowIf this episode resonated with you:✅ Follow or Subscribe to The Neurodivergent Experience⭐ Leave a quick review on Apple Podcasts or Spotify
Tis a new year my friends and honestly, it's the same shit. In this episode, I get super vulnerable you guys. I even go a little Tony Robbins on ya...I will say I'm super proud of myself for what I did in 2025 when it came to my health and wellness. I went IN trying to get my physical health and mental health back on track. Like GLP-1s, I did Ketamine, back to working out consistently, bible study, being present with my babies, changing up career paths, getting grief coach and educator certified, finding that balance with motherhood and grief, and just trying to get ME back...Well it was tough but I made it and I am proud but no one talks about that "Dig Out"...Where you have to consistently dig yourself out of a dark place all the time. It's honorable and shitty but we have to do it. I dive into this phenomena in hopes to hype you up and share that it's hard for me too. This is real life, I'm always honest with y'all and I always will be.Hope this helps mama

“Most people overestimate what they can achieve in twelve months and underestimate what they can accomplish in a decade.” I first heard that quote from Tony Robbins, and it completely changed my approach to yearly goals. I stopped setting ‘New Year's resolutions' and began looking further ahead to see what I could do over the next twelve months that would move me closer to my longer-term dreams and goals. In this week's special episode, I will share with you why smaller steps over the next twelve months will do so much more for you than trying to do something big and scary that you ultimately fail at. A podcast to answer all your questions about productivity, time management, self-development, and goal planning. My name is Carl Pullein, and I am your host of this show. What are the mistakes most people make when it comes to goals and resolutions for the New Year? Well, the simple answer is that they overcomplicate things and try to do too much in one year. Let me explain. Like most people, I used to set New Year's resolutions when I was growing up. At various times in my life, they included losing weight and getting fit, quitting smoking, saving money and many more. And, again, like most people, I failed miserably every time. What Tony Robbins' quote made me realise is that I was failing because none of these resolutions were connected to my long-term goals or vision. I was in my twenties, and I believed I was immortal. It wasn't until I reached my early thirties that three-day hangovers convinced me that I wasn't immortal after all. It wasn't until I'd settled down, married and begun to see a life ahead of me that I started to wonder if I could control that life and the direction it would go in. And yes, I could. And so can you. But you do need to know what kind of life you want to be living in ten or twenty years. Hope is not a good strategy. It's no good carrying on as you are and “hoping” you will one day reach the goals and the life you've always wanted to live. To achieve that, you will need to take action. To give you an example of what I mean. I want to be active well into my eighties and nineties. I long admired Prince Philip, the late Duke of Edinburgh. He died in 2021, just a couple of months short of his 100th birthday. And yet he remained active throughout his eighties and nineties, being one of the hardest-working members of the Royal family. The Queen allowed him to retire at 97. How did Prince Philip maintain his strength and endurance? He did something called the 5BX every morning for eleven minutes. 5BX is a series of body-weight exercises you can do anywhere that was developed by the Royal Canadian Air Force in the 1940s to keep their servicemen fit, healthy and strong. I highly recommend you search for the original Royal Canadian Air Force instructional video on YouTube and watch it. It seems so quaint by today's standards. He also walked miles and miles every day, ate small portions of food based on a traditional balanced diet, limited his alcohol intake, and went to bed and woke up at the same time each day. If we were to break that down into daily activities, it was simple and doable. Because he was able to do it every day—even when he was travelling—it meant there were few excuses he could use not to do it. You wake up, and after a few minutes, do your 5BX session, shower, have a small, healthy breakfast, and get on with your day, taking every opportunity to walk. And you do it every day. Tie that to going to bed and waking up at the same time each day, and you would be setting yourself up for a long, healthy, active life. And in that, there is nothing complicated or time-consuming. There are also no goals involved. It's just a shift in your daily routine, so these activities become part of your daily routine. Although I would suggest you use January as a “test”. Often, we read or listen to something, think it's a good idea and then find that because of our circumstances, we struggle to make it work. That doesn't mean it cannot work. It means we need to rethink the routine and make a few changes so it works for us. I remember reading Robin Sharma's The 5 AM Club and thought it was a good idea. And it was a good idea in 2016. I could get to bed at a reasonable time. Then I started my productivity work and coaching programme, and it became challenging to get to bed before midnight. Something had to change. I realised that the power of the 5 AM Club was not in getting up at 5 AM. It was what you did when you woke up. So, the only thing I needed to change was my wake-up time. And ten years later, I still follow the morning routine I developed after reading that book. Another example would be with your personal finances. Davie Ramsey's book, The Total Money Makeover, gives a simple step-by-step approach to getting your personal finances in order. The first is to build a starter emergency fund—usually around $1,000 to $5,000. Then pay off all non-mortgage debts as quickly as you can. The third step is to build a longer-term emergency fund. That would be three to six months of living expenses. And then to invest in your retirement and live on less than you earn. Within that framework, there would be a few key things you could do. For example, try to save the starter emergency fund in 2026 and pay down some of your shorter-term debts. Around those areas, you could set some goals in 2026. The bigger principle in The Total Money Makeover is to pay off all debts, including mortgages. That's unlikely to be possible for most people in one year, but over ten years? It could be possible. The good thing about something like this is that you can plan five or ten years ahead and set a goal to be completely debt-free by 2036. Whether it's health or finances, what you are doing is setting standards for how you live your life. You eat healthy, do some exercise each day, and live within your means. And really, that's what a new year should be all about. Not resolutions or goals, but reaffirming your standards. The standards you live your life by. Standards don't need motivation; they are just the way you live your life. However, when setting your standards, you will likely need some help from motivation and self-discipline initially. There will be days when you forget to do something or cannot do it. That's perfectly normal. It's not about hitting everything 100% of the time. That would be impossible anyway. I would suggest a monthly target of 80%+ A good example of this is when I travel to visit my parents. The trip from our home in Korea to where my parents live on the West Coast of Ireland takes about 26 hours door-to-door. During that time, I am not able to go out for a run or to the gym. If my goal were to exercise every day, I would be setting myself up for failure before I begin. I travel to visit my parents at least once a year. And if I were determined to do it, why put myself through that extra stress? Travelling is stressful enough. Then there would be those occasions when I am ill or delayed when travelling domestically. However, if my target was an 80% success rate, I'm in with a chance, and on those days when I'm exhausted or an emergency comes up, I wouldn't be destroying my standards. If you want to discover what is important to you in your life, I suggest you download my free Areas of Focus workbook. That workbook will take you through each of the eight areas of life we all share, help you define each one and then set some actionable steps you can take to keep your areas in balance. It's a great way to kick off a new year, as it will help you focus on what matters to you and identify areas where you can establish habits and standards that will be meaningful to you. A new year is a wonderful opportunity to review how things are going in our lives and reflect on what we could change to get our lives back on the right track, living the life we want. If you're entirely new to this approach to a new year, don't really know what your longer-term vision is, or aren't clear on what is important to you in life, and you're ready to make changes, I would recommend my Time and Life Mastery online course. This is a complete package that will help you explore what is important to you. Once you have established those, I then show you how to build your standards into your daily life. Happy New Year 2026! I love January and the opportunity to start afresh. I know it's arbitrary in some ways, but I measure my life by what I create, and I also measure it in years. At the beginning of each year, I publish an article (and podcast episode) here, which helps keep me accountable. If you'd like to share your goals, please add them in the comments below. 2026 is a transitional year as I will finish my Masters degree and continue the slow pivot that I started in December 2023 after 15 years as an author entrepreneur. Just to recap that, it was: From digitally-focused to creating beautiful physical books; From high-volume, low cost to premium products with higher Average Order Value; From retailer-centric to direct first; and From distance to presence, and From creating alone to the AI-Assisted Artisan Author. I've definitely stepped partially into all of those, and 2026 will continue in that same direction, but I also have an additional angle for Joanna Penn and The Creative Penn that I am excited about. If you'd like to join my community and support the show every month, you'll get access to my growing list of Patron videos and audio on all aspects of the author business — for the price of a black coffee (or two) a month. She's also an award-winning podcaster, creative entrepreneur, and international professional speaker. You can listen above or on your favorite podcast app or read the notes and links below. Leaning into the Transformation Economy I've struggled with my identity as Joanna Penn and my Creative Penn brand for a few years now. When I started TheCreativePenn.com in 2008, the term ‘indie author' was new and self-publishing was considered ‘vanity press' and a sure way to damage your author career, rather than a conscious creative and business choice. It was the early days of the Kindle and iPhone (both launched in 2007), and podcasting and social media were also relatively new. While US authors could publish on KDP, the only option for international authors was Smashwords and the market for ebooks was tiny. Print-on-demand and digital audio were also just emerging as viable options. While it was the early era of blogging, there were very few blogs and barely any podcasts talking about self-publishing, so when I started TheCreativePenn.com in late 2008 and the podcast in March 2009, it was a new area. For several years, it was like howling into the wind. Barely any audience. Barely any traffic, and certainly very little income. But I loved the freedom and the speed at which I could learn things and put them into practice. Consume and produce. That has always been my focus. I met people on Twitter and interviewed them for my show, and over those early years I met many of the people I consider dear friends even now. Since self-publishing was a relatively unexplored niche in those early years, I slowly found an audience and built up a reputation. I also started to make more money both as an author, and as a creative entrepreneur. Over the years since, pretty much everything has changed for indie authors and we have had more and more opportunity every year. I've shared everything I've learned along the way, and it's been a wonderful time. But as self-publishing became more popular and more authors saw more success (which is FANTASTIC!), other voices joined the chorus and now, there are many thousands of authors of all different levels with all kinds of different experiences sharing their tips through articles, books, podcasting, and social media. I started to wonder whether my perspective was useful anymore. On top of the human competition, in November 2022, ChatGPT launched, and it became clear that prescriptive non-fiction and ‘how to' information could very easily be delivered by the AI tools, with the added benefit of personalisation. You can ask Chat or Claude or Gemini how you can self-publish your particular book and they will help you step by step through the process of any site. You can share your screen or upload screenshots and it can help with what fields to fill in (very useful with translations!), as well as writing sales descriptions, researching keywords, and offering marketing help targeted to your book and your niche, and tailored to your voice. Once again, I questioned what value I could offer the indie author community, and I've pulled back over the last few years as I've been noodling around this. But over the last few weeks, a penny has dropped. Here's my thinking in case it also helps you. Firstly, I want to be useful to people. I want to help. In my early days of speaking professionally, from 2005-ish, I wanted to be the British (introvert) Tony Robbins, someone who inspired people to change, to achieve things they didn't think they could. Writing a book is one of those things. Making a living from your writing is another. So I leaned into the self-help and how-to niche. But now that is now clearly commoditised. But recently, I realised that my message has always been one of transformation, and in the following four areas. From someone who doesn't think they are creative but who desperately wants to write a book, to someone who holds their first book in their hand and proudly says, ‘I made this.' The New Author. From someone who has no confidence in their author voice, who wonders if they have anything to say, to someone who writes their story and transforms their own life, as well as other people's. The Confident Author. From an author with one or a handful of books who doesn't know much about business, to a successful author with a growing business heading towards their first six figure year. The Author-Entrepreneur. And finally, from a tech-phobic, fearful author who worries that AI makes it pointless to create anything and will steal all the jobs, to a confident AI-assisted creative who uses AI tools to enhance and amplify their message and their income. The AI-Assisted Artisan Author. These are four transformations I have been through myself, and with my work as Joanna Penn/The Creative Penn, I want to help you through them as well. So in 2026, I am repositioning myself as part of The Transformation Economy. What does this mean? There is a book out in February, The Transformation Economy by B. Joseph Pine II, who is also the author of The Experience Economy, which drove a lot of the last decade's shift in business models. I have the book on pre-order, but in the meantime, I am doing the following. I will revamp TheCreativePenn.com with ‘transformation' as the key frame and add pathways through my extensive material, rather than just categories of how to do things. I've already added navigation pages for The New Author, The Confident Author, The Author-Entrepreneur, and The AI-Assisted Artisan Author, and I will be adding to those over time. My content is basically the same, as I have always covered these topics, but the framing is now different. The intent is different. The Creative Penn Podcast will lean more heavily into transformation, rather than just information — And will focus on the first three of the categories above, the more creative, mindset and business things. My Patreon will continue to cover all those things, and that's also where I post most of my AI-specific content, so if you're interested in The AI-Assisted Artisan Author transformation path, come on over to patreon.com/thecreativepenn I have more non-fiction books for authors coming, and lots more ideas now I am leaning into this angle. I'll also continue to do webinars on specific topics in 2026, and also add speaking back in 2027. It's harder to think about transformation when it comes to fiction, but it's also really important since fiction books in particular are highly commodified, and will become even more so with the high production speeds. Yes, all readers have a few favourite authors but most will also read a ton of other books without knowing or caring who the author is. Fiction can be transformational. Reader's aren't buying a ‘book.' They're buying a way to escape, to feel deeply, to experience things they never could in real life. A book can transform a day from ‘meh' into ‘fantastic!' My J.F. Penn fiction is mostly inspired by places, so my stories transport you into an adventure somewhere wonderful, and they all offer a deeper side of transformative contemplation of ‘memento mori' if you choose to read them in that way. They also have elements of gothic and death culture that I am going to lean into with some merch in 2026, so more of an identity thing than just book sales. I'm not quite sure what this means yet, but no doubt it will emerge. I'll also shape my JFPennBooks.com site into more transformative paths, rather than just genre lists, as part of this shift. My memoir Pilgrimage always reflected a transformation, both reflecting my own midlife shift but I've also heard from many who it has inspired to walk alone, or to travel on pilgrimage themselves. Of course, transformation is not just for our readers or the people we serve as part of our businesses. It's also for us. One of the reasons why we are writers is because this is how we think. This is how we figure out our lives. This is how we get the stories and ideas out of our heads and into the world. Writing and creating are transformative for us, too. That is part of the point, and a great element of why we do this, and why we love this. Which is why I don't really understand the attraction of purely AI-generated books. There's no fun in that for me, and there's no transformation, either. Of course, I LOVE using Chat and Claude and Gemini Thinking models as my brainstorming partners, my research buddies, my marketing assistants, and as daily tools to keep me sparkly. I smiled as I wrote that (and yes, I human-wrote this!) because sparkly is how I feel when I work with these tools. Programmers use the term ‘vibe coding' which is going back and forth and collaborating together, sparking off each other. Perhaps that I am doing is ‘vibe creation.' I feel it as almost an effervescence, a fun experience that has me laughing out loud sometimes. I am more creative, I am more in flow. I am more ‘me' now I can create and think at a speed way faster than ever before. My mind has always worked at speed and my fingers are fast on the keys but working in this way makes me feel like I create in the high performance zone far more often. I intend to lean more into that in 2026 as part of my own transformation (and of course, I share my experiences mainly in the Community at patreon.com/thecreativepenn ). [Note, I pay for access to all models, and currently use ChatGPT 5.2 Thinking, Claude Opus 4.5, and Gemini 3 Pro). So that's the big shift this year, and the idea of the Transformation Economy will underpin everything else in terms of my content. The Creative Penn Podcast and my Patreon Community The Creative Penn Podcast continues in 2026, although I am intending to reduce my interviews to once every two weeks, with my intro and other content in between. We'll see how that goes as I am already finding some fascinating people to talk to! Thank you for your comments, your pictures, and also for sharing the episodes that resonate with you with the wider community. Your reviews are also super useful wherever you are listening to this, so please leave a review wherever you're listening this as it helps with discovery. Thanks also to everyone in my Patreon Community, which I really enjoy, especially as we have doubled down on being human through more live office hours. I will do more of those in 2026 and the first one of the year will blearily UK time so Aussies and Kiwis can come. I also share new content almost every week, either an article, a video or an audio episode around writing craft, author business, and lots on different use cases for AI tools. If you join the Patreon, start on the Collections tab where you will find all the backlist content to explore. It's less than the price of a coffee a month so if you get value from the show, and you want more, come on over and join us at patreon.com/thecreativepenn My Books and Travel Podcast is on hiatus for interviews, since the Masters is taking up the time I would have had for that. However I plan to post some solo episodes in 2026, and I also post travel articles there, like my visits to Gothic cathedrals and city breaks and things like that. Check it out at https://www.booksandtravel.page/blog/ Webinars and live events Along with my Patreon office hours, I'm enjoying the immediacy and energy of live webinars and they work with my focus on transformation, as well as on ‘doubling down on being human' in an age of AI, so I will be doing more this year. The first is on Business for Authors, coming on 10 and 24 January, which is aimed at helping you transform your author business in 2026, or if you're just getting started, then transform into someone who has even a small clue about business in general!Details at TheCreativePenn.com/live and Patrons get 25% off. In terms of live in-person events, it looks like I will be speaking at the Alliance of Independent Authors event at the London Book Fair in March, and I'll attend the Self-Publishing Show Live in June, although I won't be speaking. There might be other things that emerge, but in general, I'm not doing much speaking in 2026 because I need to … Finish my Masters in Death, Religion, and Culture This represents a lot of work as I am doing the course full-time. I should be finished in September, and much of the middle of the year will be focused on a dissertation. I'm planning on doing something around AI and death, so that will no doubt lead into some fiction at a later stage! Talking of fiction … Bones of the Deep — J.F. Penn The Masters is pretty serious, as is academic research and writing in general, and I found myself desperate to write a rollicking fun story over the holiday break between terms. I've talked about this ‘tall-ship' story for a while and now I'm committing to it. Back in 1999, I sailed on the tall-ship Soren Larsen from Fiji to Vanuatu, one of the three trips that shaped my life. It was the first time I'd been to the South Pacific, the first time I sailed blue water (with no land in sight), and I kept a journal and drew maps of the trip. It also helped me a make a decision to leave the UK and I headed for Australia nine months later in early 2000, and ended up being away 11 years in Australia and New Zealand. I came home to visit of course, but only moved back to the UK in 2011, so that trip was memorable and pivotal in many ways and has stuck in my mind. The story is based on that crossing, but of course, as J.F. Penn my imagination turns it into essentially a ‘locked room,' there is no escape out there, especially if the danger comes from the sea. Another strand of the story comes from a recent academic essay for my Masters, when I wrote about the changes in museum ethics around human remains and medical specimens i.e. body parts in jars, and how some remains have been repatriated to the indigenous peoples they were stolen from. I've also talked before about how I love ‘merfolk' horror like Into the Drowning Deep by Mira Grant, All the Murmuring Bones by A.G. Slatter, and Merfolk by Jeremy Bates. These are no smiling fantasy mermaids and mermen. They are predators. What might happen if the remains of a mer-saint were stolen from the deep, and what might happen to the ship that the remains are being transported in, and the people on board? I'm about a third in, and I am having great fun! It will actually be a thriller, with a supernatural edge, rather than horror, and it is called Bones of the Deep, and it will be out on Kickstarter in April, and everywhere by the summer. You can check out the Kickstarter pre-launch page with photos from my 1999 trip, the cover for the book, and the sales description at JFPenn.com/bones Add merch to CreativePennBooks.com and JFPennBooks.com I've dipped my toe into merch a number of times and then removed the products, but now I'm clear on my message of transformation, I want to revisit this. My books remain core for both sites, but for CreativePennBooks, I also want to add other products with what are essentially affirmations — ‘Creative,' ‘I am creative, I am an author,' and variants of the poster I have had on my wall for years, ‘Measure your life by what you create.' This is the affirmation I had in my wallet for years! For JFPennBooks, the items will be gothic/memento mori/skull-related. Everything will be print-on-demand. I will not be shipping anything myself, so I'm working with my designer Jane on this and then need to order test samples, and then get them added to the store. Likely mid-year at this rate! How to Write, Publish, and Market Short Stories and Short Story Collections — Joanna Penn I have a draft of this already which I expanded from the transcript of a webinar I did on this topic as part of The Buried and the Drowned campaign. It turns out I've learned a lot about this over the years, and also on how to make a collection, so I will get that out at some point this year. I won't do a Kickstarter for it, but I will do direct sales for at least a month and include a special edition, workbook, and bundles on my store first before putting it wide. I will also human-narrate that audiobook. Other possible books I'm an intuitive creative and discovery writer, so I don't plan out what I will write in a year. The books tend to emerge and then I pick the next one that feels the most important. After the ones above, there are a few candidates. Crown of Thorns, ARKANE thriller #14. Regular readers and listeners will know how much I love religious relics, and it's about time for a big one! I have a trip to Paris planned in the spring, as the Crown of Thorns is at Notre Dame, and I have some other locations to visit. My ARKANE thrillers always emerge from in-person travels, so I am looking forward to that. Maybe late 2026, maybe 2027. AI + religion technothriller/short stories. I already have some ideas sketched out for this and my Masters thesis will be something around AI, religion, and death, so I expect something will emerge from all that study and academic writing. Not sure what, but it will be interesting! The Gothic Cathedral Book. I have tens of thousands of words written, and lots of research and photos and thoughts. But it is still in the creative chaos phase (which I love!) and as yet has not emerged into anything coherent. Perhaps it will in 2026, and the plan is to re-focus on it after my Masters dissertation. I feel like the Masters study and the academic research process will make this an even better book, But I am holding my plans for this lightly, as it feels like another ‘big' book for me, like my ‘shadow book' (which became Writing the Shadow) and took more than a decade to write! How to be Creative. I have also written bits and bobs on this over many years, but it feels like it is re-emerging as part of my focus on transformation. Probably unlikely for 2026 but now back on the list … Experiment more with AI translation AI-assisted translation has been around for years now in various forms, and I have experimented with some of the services, as well as working with human narrators and editors in different languages, as well as licensing books in translation. But when Amazon launched Kindle Translate in November 2025, it made me think that AI-assisted translation will become a lot more popular in 2026. AI audiobook narration became good enough for many audiobooks in 2025, and it seems like AI-translation will be the same in 2026. Yes, of course, human translation is still the gold standard, as is human narration, and that would be the primary choice for all of us — if it was affordable. But frankly, it's not affordable for most indie authors, and indeed many small publishers. Many books don't get an audiobook edition and most books don't get translated into every language. It costs thousands per book for a human translator, and so it is a premium option. I have only ever made a small profit on the books that I paid for with human translators and it took years, and while I have a few nice translation deals on some books, I'm planning to experiment more with AI translation in 2026. More languages, more markets, more opportunities to reach readers. More on this in the next episode when I'll cover trends for 2026. Ideally outsource more marketing to AI, but do more marketing anyway You have to reach readers somehow, and you have to pay for book marketing with your time and/or your money. Those authors killing it on TikTok pay with their time, and those leaning heavily on ads are paying with money. Most of us do a bit of both. There is no passive income from books, and even a backlist has to be marketed if you want to see any return. But I, like most authors, am not excited about book marketing. I'd rather be working on new books, or thinking about the ramifications of the changes ahead and writing or talking about that in my Patreon Community or here on the podcast. However, my book sales income remains about the same even as I (slowly) produce more books, so I need to do more book marketing in 2026. I said that last year of course, and didn't do much more than I did in 2024, so here I am again promising to do a better job! Every year, I hope to have my “AI book marketing assistant” up and running, and maybe this will be the year it happens. My measure is to be able to upload a book and specify a budget and say, ‘Go market this,' and then the AI will action the marketing, without me having to cobble together workflows between systems. Of course, it will present plans for me to approve but it will do the work itself on the various platforms and monitor and optimize things for me. We have something like that already with Amazon auto-ads, but that is specific to Amazon Advertising and only works with certain books in certain genres. I have auto-ads running for a couple of non-fiction books, but not for any fiction. I'd also ideally like more sales on my direct stores, JFPennBooks.com and CreativePennBooks.com which means a different kind of marketing. Perhaps this will happen through ChatGPT shopping or other AI-assisted e-commerce, which should be increasing in 2026. More on that in trends for the year to come in the next show. Double down on being human, health and travel I have a lot of plans for travel both for book research and also holidays with Jonathan but he has to finish his MBA and then we have some family things that take priority, so I am not sure where or when yet, but it will happen! Paris will definitely happen as part of the research for Crown of Thorns, hopefully in the spring. I've been to Paris many times as it's just across the Channel and we can go by train but it's always wonderful to visit again. Health-wise, I'll continue with powerlifting and weight training twice a week as well as walking every day. It's my happy place! What about you? If you'd like to share your goals for 2026, please add them in the comments below — and remember, I'm a full-time author entrepreneur so my goals are substantial. Don't worry if yours are as simple as ‘Finish the first draft of my book,' as that still takes a lot of work and commitment! All the best for 2026 — let's get into it! The post My 2026 Creative And Business Goals With Joanna Penn first appeared on The Creative Penn.

Simon shares a personal journey of realising that a traditional job would not lead to long-term financial freedom. Reflecting on his time as a graduate trainee at Cadbury's, he discusses the limitations of a secure job and the importance of diversifying income through property investment KEY TAKEAWAYS The journey began with the understanding that a traditional job, even in a dream role, may not provide long-term financial security or freedom. True wealth often requires additional income sources beyond a salary. The initial foray into property investment started with renting out a first home to students, which led to a profitable venture. This experience highlighted the potential of real estate as a viable income source. Attending events like Tony Robbins' Wealth Mastery was pivotal in learning about wealth creation and the importance of diversifying income streams. Continuous education is essential for financial growth. While the decision to leave a stable job for entrepreneurship was daunting, it emphasised the importance of planning and gradually building assets before making such a leap. Starting part-time investments can mitigate risks. BEST MOMENTS "If you want to be truly wealthy, if you want to be financially independent... a job alone is not enough." "The decisions you make will shape your life. Where you are right now is a result of all decisions you've ever made." "I would never recommend anybody gives up their job; it's much better to start investing in your part time." "Now is the time to commit to your financial future. 2026 is going to be the year... to become financially independent." In this episode, host Travis Chappell and producer Eric react to a spicy clip from personal finance expert Ramit Sethi about why most people have no business obsessing over “generational wealth” when they are still buried in debt and struggling with basic money habits. The conversation turns into a practical breakdown of whose advice to follow, when ultra‑rich guidance stops applying to you, and how Travis' parents quietly passed him real financial advantage without ever cutting him a big check. On this episode we talk about: Why “generational wealth” has become a trendy TikTok buzzword—and why that's a problem if you have credit card debt How to filter advice from billionaires, gurus, and influencers so you do not copy the wrong things at the wrong stage The difference between how wealthy people built their money versus what they say now that they are already rich Why copying Tony Robbins' ice baths or a bodybuilder's current routine will not get you their results How Travis' parents taught him to tithe, save, and spend with a simple three‑slot piggy bank system Turning childhood savings into a first duplex in a rough neighborhood and what that deal taught him about delayed gratification Why dumping money on kids without money education often ruins them Practical ways Travis is teaching his own kids to connect work, math, and money (and why he makes them buy their own “extras”) Top 3 Takeaways Sequence matters. Generational wealth is a later‑stage concern; if you are in debt, can't afford housing, or investing almost nothing, your focus should be getting stable, increasing income, and building basic assets first. Copy the early steps, not the end state. Look at what successful people did when they were two or three steps ahead of you, not what they say or do after decades of wealth and security. Knowledge is the real inheritance. Teaching kids how money works—earning, saving, investing, trade‑offs—often does more for their long‑term wealth than writing a massive check. Notable Quotes “Just because someone is 40 steps ahead of you doesn't mean their current advice applies to where you are right now.” “My parents didn't just give me money; they taught me what to do with the money I earned.” “You don't get money just for existing—if you want extra stuff, you learn to earn it.” ✖️✖️✖️✖️

In this rich and wide-ranging conversation, Ali sits down with yoga teacher, author, and anatomy educator Rachel Scott to explore what it truly means to live as a body – not just to have one.Beginning with a candid inquiry into modern yoga culture, Rachel gently peels back the layers of Western commodification to reveal yoga's deeper purpose: presence, self-regulation, and intimacy with the living intelligence beneath our habits and conditioning. From there, the dialogue opens into a profound exploration of embodiment as a spiritual practice – one that includes sensation, relationship, desire, stillness, and paradox.Drawing on decades of practice, Rachel shares how yoga, anatomy study, and contemplative stillness have shaped her understanding of consciousness, love, and human connection. Together, Ali and Rachel reflect on mindfulness versus “body-fulness,” nervous-system awareness in dating and relationships, and the wisdom of listening to the body's cues around safety, timing, and consent. The conversation also moves tenderly into themes rarely spoken aloud: fertility, choice, grief, freedom, and the many ways maternal love can be expressed beyond childbirth. Rachel speaks openly about her journey through wanting children, confronting ambivalence, and ultimately trusting the larger intelligence of life – an experience that reshaped her relationships, her work, and her sense of self.Weaving together yoga philosophy, Tantra, anatomy lab awe, and everyday relational practice, this episode is an invitation to slow down, feel more, and honor the mystery of being embodied. A heartfelt exploration of love, presence, and the courage it takes to listen deeply to the body's quiet truths.FOR MORE ALI MEZEY:ALI - WebsiteALI - LinkTreeALI BIO: Ali Mezey is a Body Therapist, Family Constellation Work Facilitator, Sexologist and Media Maker with over 40 years of experience. This is Kiera and it's Christmas Eve. You guys know that I'm obsessed with holidays. I'm obsessed with this time of year. I'm obsessed with just so many fun things. And I hope you guys are like, yes, listen to the podcast. Sure. But I hope that more than that, you're hanging out with your families. And if you don't celebrate the holidays, I hope you're taking this time to celebrate you and to just be there with you. guys, I just love the holidays. think that Christmas is more than just about present and like those traditions and all of that. I think it's just like the anticipation of what's coming next. And I think one of the greatest gifts we can give ourselves is like the excitement that we feel leading up to it. My husband and I were on a really fun trip this year, but we had to plan the trip in like two weeks and I actually missed the anticipation leading up to it. So with the holidays, I feel like every single year we get this anticipation, we get this gift, we get this same excitement that I really do hope that you guys are feeling that same excitement that hopefully you're feeling for Christmas Eve tonight, going into the excitement into your dental offices for 2026. Like just think about it, you guys, we are about to wrap a bow on 2025, roll into 2026. And I think that energy, that excitement, that fun, that zest, this is really what brings the magic of the season. This is why the holidays are so special. It's time for us to sit back. It's time for us to reflect. It's time to get out of our routines. And I really just hope that you guys are giving yourself the greatest gift of anticipation. but I hope that it's anticipation with a thought out plan. I know there can be anticipation for Christmas when I have not thought about family and it is a frantic scramble. And if you are that office for 2026, I would encourage you to not be that office. There are better ways where I actually like to have our entire year gets wrapped up by December 15th so I can go into the holidays, have a good time. ⁓ I like to have my Christmas gifts all bought usually around. Halloween. I like to just have it done and out of the way. And I would hope that the anticipation of how great the year is going to be how great the holidays will be how excited you are for people to get this rather than in the frantic scramble because both can be anticipation both can be great gifts. But I hope that you're giving yourself the gift of like true joy and anticipation of the excitement of the year to come rather than the frantic frazzles. So guys, if you don't know me, I'm Kiera Dent. ⁓ founder and CEO of Dental A Team. love all things dentistry. I love helping dentists and their teams find happiness. Life is my passion, dentistry is my platform, and truly to positively impact the world of dentistry in the greatest way possible. Like this is something where I just hope that teams and doctors have excitement for what's ahead and that your team and you feel energized and not exhausted. And if you feel exhausted, that's okay. We've got solutions for you and I'm here to help you with that ⁓ because I really do believe that you and your team can crush it. And as we're on Christmas Eve, you guys, my family is so fun. Jason said when he joined our family that Christmas and the holidays were just a good time. Like it has always been so magical. ⁓ Christmas Eve, we're going to be hanging out with family. And it's been fun because we shifted it up. I was selfish. And for the first several years of our marriage, I was with my siblings because my little sister is 15 years younger than me. And so I really want to be a part of my siblings' lives. I wanted to be there and be close to them. And Jason was so accommodating. He was the youngest of his family. And so all of his siblings were grown, that we went to my family for so many years. So Christmas Eve with his family is very different. And the anticipation and the excitement, I was a little disappointed last year when we were with his family versus my family, but it was so fun. And we were able to make new traditions and... we were able to create fun things and his dad, I made his parents who are much older, they Jason has a complete accident, ⁓ do family Christmas pajamas and matching with us and to be able to create new memories and new holidays. And I really do think that the energy and excitement and the love that we feel at this time of year can be something that you can also do with your own practices. So ⁓ I think that like, getting anticipation with clear goals is going to be super, super beneficial for you guys. just like when we were kids and counting down the Christmas, teams also can get excited with this countdown to goals and to what's coming up and what the vision for 2026 is. And so I just really would encourage you right now, if you haven't done it or it's in the process, create goals and topics and conversations that your team can get super jazzed and excited about. Having a vision, having a fun year. Every year I theme my year and you guys it's not too late. Like we're only on December 24th. You still have like a week before this year is over. So take the time, give yourself a theme, something to look forward to, something that you and your team can anticipate with excitement and counting down ⁓ of clear annual goals, clear quarterly goals, and then like celebrate those milestones as they come up. Like when we hit them, what are we doing to celebrate? and have countdowns and visual trackers just like we have advent calendars. In my family, my mom was awesome. There were seven kids in my family and each of us had an advent calendar where we'd count down the days to Christmas. And I think, why don't we bring that fun, that zest, that excitement into our teams? Why are we sitting here like, hey, we hit production. No, like let's add the spice, let's add the fun. I think teams get really excited. People are like, what is different about Dental A Team over other consulting companies? And I'm like, what's different is we bring fun and excitement and get results. That's what's different. Like why not make your practice a little more fun? So I think that you guys could build like a gold tree in December where every like scheduled case you get is an ornament and it can be super, super fun. Like you guys don't want to bear Christmas tree. So maybe consider that. Maybe we have something that kicks off in January where we have snowflakes and or we donate and we give back. Like we talked about at Thanksgiving time. Could you create visual countdowns for Thanksgiving where it's like for all the number of cases we do, we're gonna donate to a family in need. I don't know. There's so many ways you can do it. And I don't think doctors, is for you. This is why it's a Dental A Team and dentist and team podcast. Team members, like let's get your ideas. Let's get you on the podcast. Listen to this episode, share this with your team. But like, how can we build visual countdowns and have a fun time? Because again, the anticipation with clear goals is what's gonna help you guys this season. So number two, I think something that you guys can do is like, just like on Christmas Eve, like build traditions that fuel culture. I was talking to an office and they were dressing up as wicked. And I said, my gosh, are you guys gonna go to the wicked opening? And they hadn't thought about that, like wicked part two. And like, that's the fun stuff that fuels culture. So like, what can we do just like at the holidays? Like we all get excited for the charcuterie boards or for the matching pajamas or for stockings or in my family, we did baby stockings on the tree in addition to regular stockings. We had countdown chains, had advent calendars. The holidays are so special because of the traditions. And so what traditions can you guys put into place in your practice? So could we have our tradition at like end of quarters when we crush it, we do X, Y, Z that people can look forward to it. We can get excited for it, that our goals are leading us to these like fun ideas. Could we do annual CE trips or retreats that everybody looks forward to? Our company cut them and then they got sad about it. And then we like, I get it. There can be pieces, but like this is culture. Our team all gets excited for fun Friday on morning huddle. We all get excited for ⁓ Wednesday is core value shout out days. Like all these little things drive and thrive with culture. And so what can you guys do that can make it fun? Can we have a shout out jar that everybody gets gifts? Can we do like, I don't know, once a quarter, we do a, our favorite things, gift swap. So many little things that are going to just building traditions that are going to fuel your culture because We have the countdown of anticipation of goals, but goals are not met with crummy cultures. A lot of times when I look at offices, I'm like, how is the culture? How was the leader? Those things are going to impact you far more than anything else. And so what is the tradition of culture that you guys can do? And I have a practice and they started celebrating their team. So every single month they had shout out jars and we shifted a whole culture who used to be like mean girls status. They were actually just women. There were men too, but like the movie mean girls. to being this team of loyalty, of camaraderie, my team was even that way. I remember saying like, I felt like I used to be on Johnny Depp's ship. I was in the middle of the ocean, my boat was burning. My team was not a great culture. And when you start to do these little culture burns, so for us it's Friday five, it's the shout outs every single Wednesday, it's annual retreats, it's two events in person, it's our holiday party, everybody gets excited for it. Live to give is a part of our company. First Friday of the month in our team is half day Fridays. Those of you who work on Fridays, you know that's a big deal. Those of you who don't work Fridays, pretend it's a half day Thursday. But just things that your team can really just get excited about. And so I'd say like, pick maybe one team tradition that you can start in January and carry all year long. And this does not mean doctors, have to do it. Luckily in every quarter, there are three months and there are usually three departments in a practice. We've got our front office team. We've got our dental assistants and our hygienists. If we wanna do... front office, clinical team, dental assistants and hygienists and doctors. You can do that too, but you can rotate. So that way there's traditions, there's things that we look forward to. There's an office who does Dip Tuesday and they bring all sorts of dips, ⁓ vegetable dip, chip dip, you name it. And they just have a ton of fun. And I think that's what makes work not feel like work. That's what makes us, ⁓ holidays to me are the sprinkles on a cupcake. The cupcakes nice, but when I get sprinkles added, it's more fun. And so traditions and anticipation and countdown, just like the holidays, that's what's more fun. Those are the sprinkles. Those are the sparkles. Those are the excitement. ⁓ And then I think step three on this of like, how can we build this anticipation within our practices is for you to truly like giving a gift of growth. And that is oftentimes like we talked about the anticipation, the excitement. And so growth is going to be what helps your team thrive. I remember Tony Robbins, you guys know I love Tony. He said that progress equals happiness. And so in your team, what is the progress for each team member? What are the things that they can grow towards? How are we growing as a team? So are we doing new systems? Are we doing new processes? Are we going to expand the roles? Are we going to have consulting or CE that's gonna open doors and help us see things differently? My team was so excited. Like they weren't thrilled when I hired ⁓ a consultant. But I will tell you, it's been one of the greatest things that we have ever done for our team. Like, of course, they're excited, they're consultants, but they also thought they knew everything. They knew what we needed to do. ⁓ to have somebody come in with new perspectives, new ideas, how are you gonna be able to help grow your team? And I would also say, in addition to this, not just growing them professionally, but personally. So every year I do meet with my team, I wanna find out what are their personal goals, what are their professional goals, and how can I look for little ways to help them achieve those goals. So when I know someone wants to pay off student debt, or I know somebody wants to buy a house, or I know they want to learn about something, Dave Ramsey's got a class. ⁓ This person wants to buy a house. I help connect them with realtors. Like whatever you can do to make dreams and wishes come true for your team. I think as business owners, as leaders, this is honestly one of the greatest gifts that we're able to give our team. And so just recognizing the gift and the responsibility, just to be able to help your team. to grow them, to elevate them and to help them. So I really do believe that when you invest in your team, you give them growth opportunities, you're able to establish them into these incredible humans, not just employees. This is when we get excited. looking at this, like, you can even talk to your team, like, what's a skill you wanna learn this year? What's your personal goals you wanna learn? And then invest in them. ⁓ Brittany Stone, no BS, Britt has said it to me many times, to me and to our clients. do you look at your team as an asset or a liability? And I think about that often, and if you see them as an asset, you treat them differently than you do if they're a liability. And so when we look at this and we get excited about it, like there's so much anticipation today of all the days of the year. think Christmas Eve is probably one of the most anticipated days of the whole year. There's such a beautiful space. And so for this, how can we get anticipation, tradition and growth? and bring this magic into your practice. I think that's a beautiful gift that you guys can give. so really it's like, bonuses are nice, growth is nice, but it's anticipation that I think is a secret sauce of it. Like I said, and there's the anticipation of knowing where we're going, where we're headed and having those direct goals versus the anticipation and the terror. Both are anticipation, but anticipation that's exciting, anticipation that's fun, anticipation that's predictable, anticipation that creates spice and magic for your team. And I think this is how you build a team of flourishing people. This is how you build a team that wants to flourish. This is how you build a team that's bought in. This is how you build a culture that's raving team member fans. This is how you build a culture that people want to be a part of. And then you start to post about these things. You share, you talk about it. This is what we do. This is who we are. Your team thrives. You thrive. And so today, tonight, as you're dreaming about what you're going to get tomorrow morning, I also hope you dream about what your practice is going to get next year. ⁓ What are the little fun traditions that you can put into place? What are the different little pieces that you can do for your team? What is the anticipation that we can put in place? I love the ideas of like having countdowns to things like how do get these fun countdowns? How do we build traditions that will be so fun? How do we give the gift of growth to our entire team? How can you truly flourish and grow your team? I think is something that you deserve to have. And so your practice can be as exciting. as Christmas Eve, Christmas morning. And I'm not here to say that it's every single day, but it doesn't have to be draining. It can be fun. And I think this is how we add spice, energy, and fuel to our businesses and to our lives is by doing the unexpected, by doing the things that bring joy and happiness to all of us. So I hope that you guys take this on. I hope that you know that at Dental A Team, we help you guys build goals and traditions and systems that really do create magic all year long. that help create aha moments to give support and strength to your teams. So doctors, you don't have to do this alone. You don't have to carry the whole sleigh by yourself. You can actually have other people help you with this and to inspire and to change your team, I think is one of the greatest gifts I gave my team. And if you're thinking about it, I'd encourage you to give that gift to your team as well. So if you guys want that, if you want to feel energized and not burn out next year, if you want to unwrap the gift of growth and excitement for 2026, reach out. Hello@TheDentalATeam.com I want to help you. want to make sure that you guys are flourishing and thriving and not just surviving. And I hope you guys have the happiest Christmas, the happiest holidays that you think about this, that you get excited to create little traditions. Pass this along. We've got to make things fun in life. And I hope that you guys just know that I'm cheering for you. I'm rooting for you. And I'm here to serve you. I'm here to support with you. And I'm here to grow with you. because I do believe that you deserve magic and you deserve ease in your practice. You're worth it. You deserve it. So reach out. Last week we are selling new tees - https://shop.walkinlove.com/ Today we're talking about the sneaky power of attention and how it shapes the way we experience our actual, everyday lives. A simple little story—Tony Robbins telling Theo Vaughn to look for “everything brown” and then asking him where the “red” was—opened up a bigger conversation for us around what we notice, what we overlook, and how much of our inner world is shaped by where we point our eyes. As we step toward a new year, we're asking: What if we intentionally looked for red? What if we spent a whole year training our minds toward the kind of things we actually want more of—connection, rest, joy, God's faithfulness—and then watched them grow? Confidence doesn't arrive before you do the thing, it shows up after your feet hit the ground. Nikki and Chris break down how insecurity actually works and why sensitive people often avoid confidence because they're terrified of becoming the arrogant narcissist who hurt them. They reveal the specific moments that built their confidence, from food poisoning disasters to stage fright at 17, and explain why pretending confidence actually creates real confidence over time. Chris shares the Tony Robbins technique for triggering confident states on command, while Nikki explains why your brain needs to do scary things while feeling weak to actually get stronger. They tackle a listener question about a boyfriend who won't let his girlfriend join his D&D campaign because he thinks she's too dumb, and discuss why that's either terrible communication or genuine arrogance.
