In this episode of The Self-Employed Life, I had the pleasure of speaking with leadership advisor and host of The Virtual Campfire, Tony Martignetti. Tony shares what it means to live as a multidimensional person in a one-dimensional world, explaining how we are too often asked to compartmentalize or suppress parts of ourselves. Together, we explore why people feel trapped in narrow roles, how integrating hidden passions can unlock our true potential, and why embracing our multidimensional selves may be the key to solving today's most pressing challenges. Tony also introduces his Illumination Framework—a four-step path to uncovering what matters most and living with full expression. This episode is for anyone who feels boxed in by expectations, craves the freedom to express their true self, and is ready to step fully into the light of who they are meant to be. In this final coaching session with Jackie, we dive into what the actual point is of anything we're doing... whether that's email strategy, organic social growth, or switching platforms to TikTok. We talk about what it means to truly find your own reason and make that enough instead of performing for your clients or people on the 'gram.  We also dive deep into list fatigue, launch strategy, and how great support should feel. And, of course, we talk about hyper-independence (theme of this season much?) and what it means to revisit old challenges even when you have new results.    In this episode, you'll hear: Why I'm suggesting Jackie not do daily emails, and the reason this matters for better long-term results Specific thoughts on ending a coaching container with intention How to shift your strategy *without* your results having to suffer Why it's so important to control the narrative, and how to do that without feeling performative The sneaky pattern of women who always “figure it out”, and how shifting this can create massive growth What great support actually looks and feels like (and how we often assume the opposite when we're hyper-independent) A final reflection on revisiting old challenges that every high achieving woman needs if she wants more results with less challenge   Episode Links Join my Facebook group Connect with Jackie on Instagram Learn more about Jackie on her website

In this episode of The Money Coach School Podcast, we're cracking open the truth about invisible income limits… even the ones showing up for women who are already successful.    Wondering what you're “allowed” to earn or how big is “too big?” These aren't your limits. They're cultural, generational, and gendered stories we've inherited. And if you're feeling the gap between the coach you are and the income you know you're meant for, this episode is for you.   Join me this week as I reveal the four hidden patterns that keep powerful coaches circling the same financial results… even when they know they're made for more. And more importantly, you'll hear how to start making identity-driven decisions that move you beyond hustle, beyond proving, and into a relationship with money that feels grounded, expanded, and fully yours.   Because your next level isn't about working harder - it's about making million-dollar decisions from the woman you're becoming.   This is your permission slip to stretch with joy, to rise without guilt, and to stop shrinking your ambition to fit into the box of your current results.   In this episode, I talk about:   The four most common (and sneaky) patterns that cap your income.   Why self-concept—not strategy—is the unlock to overflow.   3 identity-driven moves that get you back in your power, fast.   What it means to make million-dollar decisions versus shrink-to-fit ones.   A loving reminder that your next level doesn't require more effort—it asks for more you.   ~~   For full show notes, transcript, and to explore The Secret Energy of Money® Mastermind,  click here: www.themoneycoachschoolpodcast.com/98

Tom uses his experience on the racetrack and in dentistry to  challenge the conventional view of flow as simply a performance tool and instead presents it as a natural, authentic state of being that emerges when we learn to quiet the ego. We explore how flow mirrors deep meditative states, why the ego is often the biggest obstacle to our growth, and how to move through the four stages of flow without burning out. Our conversation offers insights that will resonate with anyone who is ready to rediscover the power and freedom already within. Jackie is seeing strong conversions, but we go beneath the surface to explore what those numbers are actually telling us about traffic, trust, and the deeper work of scaling with integrity. We talk about what it means to hold the tension between “this worked” and “this still needs to change,” how Jackie's sales strength is being used against her (by her own inner critic), and the rebuilding that's required when you've lost trust. This one is all about strategy, but also about the emotional maturity it takes to stay with the unknown long enough to see it turn into something better.  In this episode, you'll hear: Why it's exciting to change things when you actually trust the data The spot-on Matilda reference that all us 90's kids need The trap of thinking courses don't create results and the nuance we need to hold instead How to sit in “I'm so close and something still needs to change” without spiraling Why traffic quality is the simplest and most overlooked fix How rebuilding trust with your business is as strategic as it is emotional The one question that triggers the fear of failure and the key to staying grounded anyway Episode Links Join my Facebook group Connect with Jackie on Instagram Learn more about Jackie on her website

Building a strong team goes beyond simply hiring the right people. It requires a fundamental shift in how you engage with those who support your business. Many creative CEOs hire for relief, hoping to finally hand off tasks they don't enjoy or feel overwhelmed by. But this relief can quickly turn into frustration when team members aren't delivering the results you expected, or worse, when mistakes go unnoticed until they become costly problems.   In this episode, I'm sharing truth number five from the CEO Summer School series: true CEOs collaborate, they don't abdicate. This means recognizing that while you're bringing on team members to handle specific tasks and responsibilities, you remain a key ingredient in creating your business's success. Collaboration allows you to be the driver of your business while having others who understand where you're going and help you get there.   Get full show notes, transcript, and more information here: https://www.desicreswell.com/146   For the resources mentioned in this episode, click here: https://www.desicreswell.com/resources

Stay curious about someone's intentions and remember to actively listen.   Quotes “Passive versus more direct approaches in having conversations, particularly in times when we feel like there is going to be conflict or we're addressing something that could create conflict.”  “Anyone who has ever been in a long term relationship knows that timing is everything.” “It's all about Practice.”   About Sarah "Uncovering the right stories for the right audiences so executives, leaders, public speakers, and job seekers can clearly and actively demonstrate their character, values, and vision." In my work with coaching clients, I guide people to improve their communication using storytelling as the foundation of our work together. What I've realized over years of coaching and podcasting is that the majority of people don't realize the impact of the stories they share - on their internal messages, and on the people they're sharing them with. My work with leaders and people who aspire to be leaders follows a similar path to the interviews on my podcast, uncovering pivotal moments in their lives and learning how to share them to connect more authentically with others, to make their presentations and speaking more engaging, to reveal patterns that have kept them stuck or moved them forward, and to improve their relationships at work and at home. The audiobook, Your Stories Don't Define You, How You Tell Them Will is now available! Included with your purchase are two bonus tracks, songs recorded by Sarah's band, Spare Change, in her living room in Montana. Be sure to check out the Storytelling For Professionals Course as well to make sure you nail that next interview!

995: Christina Guthier - Joyfully Exhausted: Burnout and Recovery

    The Self-Employed Life

In this episode of The Self-Employed Life, I had the great pleasure of speaking with occupational health psychologist Dr. Christina Guthier, author of Joyfully Exhausted, about the often misunderstood concept of burnout. We discuss the idea that not all exhaustion is bad, explore the difference between joyful and harmful exhaustion, and examine the effort-reward imbalance that many self-employed people face. Christina emphasizes the importance of managing our energy and recovering from hidden efforts we may not even realize are draining us. Our conversation is a refreshing reminder that it's okay — and even healthy — to love your work, as long as you prioritize recovery and recognize your limits. Since childhood, Christina was fascinated to observe different states of exhaustion in adults after work (including unpaid care work). At Ruhr-University Bochum, she majored in organizational psychology, conducted corporate social responsibility (CSR) field-research as student assistant at the marketing department, and worked at eligo GmbH where she helped develop recruiting software. During her M.Sc. Psychology at Heidelberg University, she majored in Organizational Behaviour and Adaptive Cognition learning a lot about the complexity of performance ratings and leadership behavior as well as cognitive biases and decision heuristics. At the same time, Christina also completed her train-the-trainer certificate during her internship at the career services and development department at Mannheim Business School. Then she focused on occupational health psychology (particularly on burnout research) during her PhD at Johannes Gutenberg-University Mainz. Christina's PhD thesis on "How to create healthier study and work environments" got awarded with the Alfred Teves dissertation award 2020. Additionally, her meta-analysis on the reciprocal relationship between job stressors and burnout (published in Psychological Bulletin) got awarded with the Schmidt-Hunter Meta-Analysis Award 2022 by the Society of Industrial and Organizational Psychology (division of the American Psychological Association). Finally, as a self-employed scientist, she has started to translate (her) research insights into actionable advice by giving a TEDx talk, getting interviewed for German media outlets (e.g., Der Spiegel, deutschlandfunk nova), and writing articles for different journals and magazines (e.g., Leader to Leader, change magazine). Additionally, she has supported organizations as a speaker, trainer, and coach with shifting their mindsets regarding exhaustion and recovery.
