Keeping on brand with our Mortal Kombat theme, it's time to jump two years forward, from the original! There are many people that think this movie was a big step backwards from the original. For me personally, it holds a weird special place in my heart, though I know that it wasn't the greatest movie, or the better sequel. But it introduces many new characters, that we all loved from the video games, and the ones that we had hoped would be in the original! We are of course talking about Mortal Kombat: Annihilation. Annihilation introduces us to the emperor, who is the main villain of the story, up until now, Shao Kahn. His group of villains, along with his father, plan to usurp the tournament, and take over the Earth realm. You'll remember Liu Kang, Kitana, Raiden, Sonya Blade, and introduced to Smoke, Ermac, Sindel, Motaro, Sheeva, and more!! This is a bad movie review Wednesday. Mortal Kombat is an ancient tournament where the Earth Realm warriors battle against the forces of Outworld. Liu Kang and a few chosen fighters fought and defeated the powerful sorcerer Shang Tsung, their victory would preserve the peace on Earth for one more generation. Taking place now where the first movie left off, the Earth realm warriors live a short period of peace when evil forces from another dimension come to invade and wreak havoc on Earth. They are guided by the forces of the Outworld leader, Shao Kahn, and his generals such as Motaro, Rain, Ermac, Sheeva, and Sindel. There was so much to talk about in this episode that we actually have to split the discussion topic into two episodes. It was the 20th anniversary of the original PlayStation, and we wind up talking for a good 45 minutes about the console without even scratching the surface. With Christopher unable to record, and Dustin and Luke being short on time this week, they decided to try something new. It's not quite a minisode, but it's similar. Both of them have recently removed games from their backlog, with Dustin playing The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, and Luke playing The Last of Us. A show two weeks in a row? The stars must have aligned just right. Halloween is upon us, so the guys took it upon themselves to talk about games (and movies, and other things) that remind them of the candy obsessed holiday. There's talk of some survival horror games, and some cult classics like Zombies Ate My Neighbors and Alan Wake. Chris can't make it again this week, but for good reason...he and his lovely wife finally had their baby (don't be fooled, Alex did most of the work)!
