It's one of those episodes that seemed totally disjointed but turned out GREAT (kind'a like good ribs)... White Mark the Diversity Hire had Hostus Maximus Justin Fort down to his dungeon for some 6.5 Creedmoor loading and a dissertation on the goodness of bad times - learning to be better (geek it!) with what you can get, such as when the Obama gun shortage taught builders and loaders to make excellent firepower out'a what they could find. Whether it's Winchester, Sta-Bal, Hornaday, Benchmark, Lever Revolutiopn, IMR, Accurate, Hodgon, or CFE, a shooter's got to shoot and a loader's got to load, and everyone got smarter. The original point of the episode was to visit another good side of Uncle Donald getting back into office: brooming the useless bureaucrats like Buttgig and Granholm who've been making a corrupt mockery of the job of the American government (and shine a little light on the effects of four years in Biden's basement). Then it's trucks, rocks, ribs, rubs, a Garage Hour sendoff for excellent weirdo Bernie Marcus of the Home Dee Pot, and a little bit of Herb Alpert, because beer (Red Leg's Spring's Lager).

Herzlichen Dank. Wie immer -> Bleibt' positiv. Eure Jan Ullrich Ultras.

This is episode 157 - where Dick King and Ndongeni ka Xoki ride to out of Durban carrying a dispatch from besieged British commander, Captain Smith, surrounded by Boers, in real danger. On the 24th May 1842 King and ka Xoki snuck out of the Port Natal region heading to Grahamstown in the south. That was a thousand kilometre journey which was going to take 10 days. Averaging 100 kilometres a day on a horse was some feat. Ndongeni Ndongeni Ka Xoki had already given King his Zulu nickname -Mlamulankunzi which loosely translated means a peacemaker among bulls. This was regarded as a mark of respect and admiration and there's a lot to admire about King as well as Ka Xoki. They had agreed to take a dispatch to Lieutenant Governor Colonel Hare in Grahamstown for Captain Thomas Smith who'd been shamed by the Boers at the Battle of Congella which I covered last episode. King was young and adventurous, he was an elephant hunter and a trader and came to South Africa as an 1820 Settler at the age of six. He was a frontiersman and an excellent rider who could and did turn his hand to anything it seems. Ndongeni ka Xoki had worked for King for a few years by this time. There's also been a great deal of hooplah, disinformation and propaganda about King's ride. The popular view of Dick King over the decades has been moulded by the Durban public memorial - it is an equestrian statue on the Esplanade - now Margaret Mcadi Avenue. The main Dick King statue presents the sole figure of King as the heroic if exhausted rider, but there is a missing Ndongeni on his horse. Protestors who defaced the statue in 2015 of course had no idea about that, they were throwing paint at all colonial era artefacts - equal opportunity statue painters. It was midday on the 24th June when Boer lookouts spotted a schooner called the Conch rounding the Bluff and sailing into the bay. It was a trading ship not a war ship, so the boers relaxed. They shouldn't have, because the wily and wicked English had a surprise up their sleeves. Crouching below decks were 100 Grenadiers of the 27th Regiment under command of Captain Durnford, a few others were on deck but dressed in civilians clothes. Trickery and deceit — how very English.

So the training camps are over, WorldTour racing is under way, and already the European calendar has kicked off. But it's a bumpy road in professional cycling and, while some riders and races thrive, others are already finding it hard going. On the new RadioCycling podcast...Is it already too late for the Tour of Britain? With grave doubts hanging over the future of Britain's national tour, we hear from Hugh Roberts, the CEO of Sweetspot, who organised the race for the last 20 years but have now gone into liquidation. Roberts tells us about the risk he took in deciding to put the race on in 2023 without a primary sponsor, admits he's partly to blame for the event's tragic demise, and givers his perspective on its future, while we also discuss the reasons behind the Tour of Britain's demise and its likely impact on the future of road cycling in the UK.Dave Brailsford is still in cycling says Grenadiers new CEO John Allert: We hear from the new CEO of the Ineos Grenadiers, who explains that the team's former boss has not cut himself off from cycling completely after taking up a new position at Manchester United, talks about the team's fresh start under his leadership, and underlines that the team's primary focus will be winning the Tour de France title again.Luke Plapp on leaving Ineos to become a Grand Tour leader: Hailed as Australia's next  big hope for success in the sport's biggest stage races, recently crowned national road and TT champion Plapp explains how his two years at Ineos have prepared him for this challenge, says his primary goal at  new team Jayco-AlUla is to learn what he can from co-leader Simon Yates, and takes aim at what is shaping up as a stellar Giro d'Italia.Plus, we have news of a podcast produced by one of our editorial team that you definitely shouldn't miss...This podcast is brought to you with the support of our sponsor, Saddle Skedaddle.   Support the show

Happy New Year to all of you — here's to 2024. There's so much to look forward to: the Classics, Grand Tours, the Paris Olympic Games, plus the intrigue, rumour and spectacle of professional cycling...Sadly, we start, though, with the distressing story of the death of Australian Olympian Melissa Hoskins in Adelaide on New Year's Eve. Her husband, two-time world time trial champion Rohan Dennis, was subsequently arrested on charges of causing death by dangerous driving. We look back on Hoskins' garlanded racing career, which included a world record and world title on the track and multiple sprint victories on the road.In an examination of what's next for Dave Brailsford and the Ineos Grenadiers after Jim Ratcliffe's Manchester United takeover, we speak to Matt Slater, who reports on finance in football for The Athletic. We hear about Brailsford's likely role at Man Utd following the £1bn deal, the reaction to the takeover in Manchester and beyond, and what impact this massive investment and Brailsford's key part in it could have on the future of the franchise's cycling team, the Ineos GrenadiersIn our final story we focus on Mathieu van der Poel, fined for spitting at fans during a Cyclo-Cross World Cup race, and discuss whether the world and cyclo-cross world champion has attained untouchable status off the bike as well as on it. We also gauge the reaction to the incident from his peers, including Wout van Aert and Sven Nys. RadioCycling has also been shortlisted for Best Sports Talk Podcast 2023!! Welcome back to the nearly new and officially unofficial Grenadier podcast hosted by KRABBY and STU   Last time we centered on the Grenadiers backstory and Sir Jim Radcliffe, this time though we speak to one of the first people in the world to take delivery of their new Grenadier. This wasn't any delivery however, this was the hard way home.   After emerging triumphant from a tough selection process involving thousands of INEOS Grenadier customers, three winners headed to a remote valley in Morocco's Atlas Mountains for the most extreme new vehicle handover. Including one of the world's most dangerous roads, the Tizi n' Test Pass, the adventurers were battered by fierce storms, unexpected snowfall and washed out trails that added to the expedition's challenge. The ‘Hard Way Home' competition was open to customers that had followed the Grenadier from the earliest stages of its development and had been among the first to place reservations. Entrants were invited to participate in an off-road selection event in the UK with videos of the candidates posted on INEOS Automotive's social media channels. Fans and followers then voted for the finalists they believed deserved to take the ‘Hard Way Home' from their vehicle handover in Morocco.    Three finalists were chosen, those being Gemma, Ingemar and Zahid, today we have one of them here to discuss his incredible adventure and his day to day life with the Grenadier after 15,000km.    We discuss the challenges that the expedition had and how they overcame them. We find out which vehicles broke down and more importantly which ones didn't. Ingemar also explains the modifications that he has made to his Grenadier ‘Loki' and what's on the horizon for future trips. Lastly but not neatly we get to meet Thor, Ingemar's faithful husky sidekick. My grandmother who I have spoken of here from time to time on the show, who raised me from birth… Sadly, she experienced a major health issue Saturday morning pertaining to one of her arteries and underwent emergency heart surgery over the weekend. At 80 years old and with other health issues they really didn't think she would make it through the surgery.  But after many of your thoughts, prayers, and well wishes I'm happy to say she DID make it through the surgery, and her circulation is probably the best it's been in 20 years. However, at her age and it being such a major surgery, she has a LONG road to recovery. Lots of therapy ahead in a rehab center to get her back walking and talking so it's still pretty rough emotionally and mentally on the family because even though she had issues getting around, she was always very vibrant and talkative and it's hard seeing her lay there so weak, groggy, unable to lift her head for long periods, and speaking so softly. But I keep telling myself the hardest part is behind her, I hope. She survived and now it's just getting back on her feet which is going to take some time. I thank all of the loyal Grenadiers out there, our listeners, for their support.   With that said, we will pick back up with 1987 in the WWF NEXT WEEK when we begin to cover February 1987 on the road to WrestleMania 3. The Hart Foundation win the Tag Team Titles, Referee Danny Davis is FINALLY fired by Prez Jack Tunney, Barry Darsow replaces Randy Colley as Smash in Demolition, Outback Jack makes his in-ring debut, Andre the Giant officially makes his heel turn when he challenges Hulk Hogan to a Championship Match IN THE WRESTLEMANIA… and so much more.  But for this week, given the brief time I had to put something together… For those who followed us before the 1987 project, you know that we did an extensive deep dive into the year of 1993 in the WWF… and that included all of the PPVs including WrestleMania IX… Mega MANIACS challenging Money Inc, Undertaker vs. Giant Gonzalez, Perfect vs. Narcissist, and WWF Champ Bret Hart battling Yokozuna…  But with a week away from Mania… The WWF hosted a 2-hour special on USA dubbed the March to WrestleMania IX… One final monster push for the PPV with the likes of Macho Man Randy Savage taking on Yokozuna, The Undertaker going up against Bam Bam Bigelow, Kamala exacting revenge on his former handler Kim Chee, Mr. Perfect takes on Skinner in the final appearance of the alligator man gimmick, mixed tag action with Bushwhackers & Tiger Jackson (future Dink) vs. The Beverly Brothers & Little Louie. Plus action involving Tatanka, Money Inc, we'll see IC Champion Shawn Michaels, Crush hunts for Octopus, or is it Octopi? AND a DRUG INFUSED promo from the MEGA MANIACS that you'll never forget. You'll have to stay tuned and listen, you don't want to miss it.  So here it is guys, from our PATREON EXCLUSIVE Watch-Along Series… One of MANY watch-alongs featured on the All Access Tier of https://www.patreon.com/wrestlecopia for the LOW LOW price of just $5 per month. South African customers can now order their Ineos Grenadier online, with the starting price for the base model set at R1.41-million. The vehicle launches as a five-seat sports-utility vehicle, with permanent four-wheel drive, two-speed transfer case and centre-locking differential included as standard. In addition to the standard specification Grenadier, Ineos Automotive also offers two preconfigured vehicle editions. The Grenadier Trialmaster and Fieldmaster Editions have both been curated with specific purposes in mind and are built to take on the outdoors. The Trialmaster edition has been specified with extreme off-roading in mind, while the Fieldmaster edition is for those with a more sporty lifestyle who will use their vehicle to get them and their kit to wherever they want to go. An online configurator at ineosgrenadier.com takes customers through the build of their Grenadier, step-by-step, with a host of extras and options available. The site also offers vehicle price updates in real time, with the price shown on the configurator to be the price customers will pay for their Grenadiers. Once customers have settled on their specific configuration, they will be able to choose their collection location, with an interactive map showing the nearest retailer. A deposit of R40 000, refundable until the vehicle contract is signed, secures a build slot. South African owners get a five year/100 000 km warranty. In all global markets the Grenadier comes with a three-year paint warranty, a three-year warranty for accessories, while the ladder-frame chassis and body components have a 12-year antiperforation warranty.

Along with the high school, the band is gearing up to celebrate its centennial in 2022, beginning with the Oct. 31 Bethlehem Halloween Parade. Under director Ronald Sherry's leadership in the 1960s the Grenadiers were styled after Britain's famed Royal Coldstream Guard, and since then they have become a beloved, iconic symbol of the City of Bethlehem. Allen discusses the band's storied history, the role band members play as cultural ambassadors and how COVID-19 has impacted its musicians over the past year-and-a-half. Established in 1926, in Bethlehem Pennsylvania, the Liberty High School Band was led for 40 years by the first Director of Music, Dr. Joseph Ricapito. During his tenure the band performed at President Truman's Inaugural Parade and the 1948 World's Fair. When He retired, Ron Sherry, a Liberty alumnus, assumed the baton and and revamped the band's image . In 1966 he introduced the Grenadier theme. In 1976, the band provided music for England's Queen Elizabeth II's presentation of the Bicentennial Bell. The Grenadiers became the first high school band in the world to perform in London's Royal Albert Hall. Following Sherry's retirement, Liberty's third director, Greg MacGill began his tenure. Under his direction, the band would perform 4 times in England and march in the 2009 Rose Parade. The pomegranate, that beautiful fruit with the jewel-like red seeds, has recently exploded on the culinary scene. Which is appropo for a fruit which inspired the name a hand-tossed explosive, known as the grenade. Grenadiers, 18th century soldiers who specialized in throwing grenades, thought that the device's shrapnel pellets reminded them of those seeds. Though the pomegranate may have only recently come into its own as a trendy ingredient, it has been around for a long time. Pomegranates were being grown as early as 5,000 to 6,000 years ago, which makes them one of the first fruits ever cultivated. Not surprisingly for a crop so old, the pomegranate is the subject of much legend and lore. The Ancient Egyptians used to bury their dead with them, there was a representation of one in King Tut's Tomb. The Pomegranate figures into the Bible as well, some scholars contend that it was actually a pomegranate -- not an apple -- that tempted Eve in the Garden of Eden. For Buddhists, the

Chapter 6 In the pre-colonial and colonial periods, the British conducted their war against disease in the same way they conducted their conventional wars: conventionally. Certainly not as guerilla warriors, and not even with the um-pa-pa of a Sousa-style march, but with the stately determination of the Grenadiers. Doing things orderly, the right way. Fully believing their way - in fact their civilization - was the only right way. And, when it came to fighting both enemies and disease, the British relied on the latest science of the day, employed by doctors and engineers. They identified all the variables they knew about, and tried to control each one. Send me your reactions at raymondvdowning@gmail.com. Visit my website at https://globalhealth757.wordpress.com/ .

Grenadiers: Formed in Adelaide, Grenadiers are a powerful 3-piece outfit, straddling the line between punk and rock with a distinct swagger that separates them from rival bands. Their first album “Songs The Devil Taught Us”, released in 2010, established them on the national music scene, touring throughout Australia including many regional dates. A four and a half year wait came before their sophomore effort, 2014’s “Summer” was released, due to a drastic line-up change which left singer and guitarist Jesse Coulter the only founding member of the band. The critically acclaimed album won them a legion of new fans and heavy radio rotation nationally which led to touring the country with international acts Millencolin, Strung Out, Every Time I Die and Shihad as well as playing Big Day Out and making a trek to the UK’s The Great Escape festival. In this time, Grenadiers have developed into one of the country's must-see live acts, combining catchy melodies with unbridled energy. Coulters lyrics are a thoughtful, and sometimes brutally honest commentary on Australian culture, matched with a passionate vocal delivery. Recorded at Crowbar in Brisbane on the 5th of May 2017. Recorded and mixed by Reuben Aptroot. Airing details: Originally via Zed Digital, 7-8pm, Sunday 5th of November 2017. Show production and engineering: Reuben Aptroot.
